HealthHIV introduces a new learning series and resource hub focused on healthy aging
Nonprofit organization HealthHIV has launched a new accredited learning series that looks at what it means to age with HIV and how providers can better support people through that process. The Healthy Aging series arrives as World AIDS Day events continue across the country and reflects growing attention on the needs of long-term survivors and older adults living with HIV.The accredited series is designed for physicians, nurses, PAs, pharmacists, allied health professionals, community health workers, and other community-based providers. The series uses five H modules, Horizon, Heart, Head, Hand, and Healing, to organize key topics that shape daily life for people aging with HIV. The modules cover cardiovascular health, cognitive and mental health, building stronger care teams and support systems, mobility, and other everyday concerns. HealthHIV notes this framework mirrors the 5 Ms of geriatrics and offers a structured way to understand the experiences of older adults living with HIV.Scott Bertani, HealthHIVs director of advocacy, said the series centers the everyday realities of aging with HIV.With modules built around the everyday realities people face as they age with HIVemotional well-being, thinking and memory, teamwork in care, and staying mobilethe series gives learners practical guidance they can use in real settings, he said. We share the Healthy Aging with HIV Series in recognition of the resilience and experiences of People Aging with HIV. Their lives continue to shape this work, and we are grateful to bring forward a resource grounded in their stories at a time when visibility and commitment matter most.Alongside the learning series, HealthHIV has introduced the Healthy Aging Hub, an online platform that brings together education, tools, and guidance for people aging with HIV. The Hub includes resources on housing, isolation, mobility, and financial stability, and serves as the home for the Healthy Aging with HIV modules as part of the organizations Pozitively Aging program. The Pozitively Aging program focuses on long-term survivors and older adults with HIV by strengthening care coordination, expanding workforce capacity, and supporting person-centered services. It aims to improve outcomes by addressing both medical needs and the social factors that shape aging.More information about the Healthy Aging with HIV series is available at healthhiv.org/healthy-aging-series.The post HealthHIV introduces a new learning series and resource hub focused on healthy aging appeared first on News Is Out.
