Gold: Tottenham close to free agent signing of GK Martin Dubravka
BURNLEY, ENGLAND - APRIL 22: Martin Dubravka of Burnley during the Premier League match between Burnley and Manchester City at Turf Moor on April 22, 2026 in Burnley, England. (Photo by James Gill - Danehouse/Getty Images) | Getty Images Tottenham have made two free agent signings thus far and according to Alasdair Gold might be close to a third. Gold is reporting that Tottenham Hotspur is close to a free agent acquisition of former Burnley and Slovakia international keeper Martin Dubravka. This is fine, and actually a quite decent signing, especially if he’s coming in as an experienced backup. The scuttlebutt around the club right now is that Robert De Zerbi and Spurs are ready to part ways with Guglielmo Vicario, with Juventus very interested in the Italian keeper. Antonin Kinsky impressed in Tottenham’s run-in this past season, ably filling in for the injured Vicario and even keeping him out of the side for the last couple of matches. That’s an impressive thing for a young keeper, especially after the disasterclass performance in the Europa League loss to Atletico Madrid at the Wanda, a performance that surely dented his confidence. Spurs are expected to give Kinsky the shot at the #1 spot in Vicario’s place, and that means Dubravka would be coming in to both push and back up Kinsky.Honestly, bringing an experienced and elder keeper in to back up your young potential star is a good move. Dubravka is 37 but has been around the block a LOT over his career. Should Kinsky be injured or simply find himself not up to the task of being Tottenham’s starting keeper, I have no doubt Dubravka could come in and do a job. I wouldn’t imagine that his deal would be longer than 1-2 years – he’s certainly not a long term signing, but he’d be able to mentor Kinsky and step in easily if required. He’s also not Czech like Kinsky but is from the same part of Europe and could be a good life mentor as well.I don’t hate this at all. While it’d be nice to have a backup keeper be English, homegrown and club trained, that doesn’t matter so much this season as Spurs don’t have to contend with European competition this season. It might make less sense next year if Spurs get back into Europe, but for now this is both fine and good. Let’s make it happen.

MLB: Giants' 'lapse' led to players writing Bible verses on pride hats
Pitcher Landen Roupp was among the San Francisco Giants players who wrote Bible references on their hats earlier this month on Pride Night in San Francisco. File Photo by Tannen Maury/UPIJune 23 (UPI) -- A communication "lapse" by the San Francisco Giants led to players writing Bible verses on their Pride Night hats, MLB commissioner Rob Manfred said.Manfred spoke about the issue through a letter sent Friday to Sen. Josh Hawley, R-Mo. Hawley posted the letter Monday night on social media. The Giants did not immediately respond to a request for comment.MLB issued warnings to several Giants players last week, pointing to uniform-related rules violations committed during their 5-1 loss to the Chicago Cubs on June 12 in San Francisco.Giants pitchers Landen Roupp, J.T. Brubaker and Ryan Walker had placed Biblical references on their hats. Fellow pitcher Sam Hentges wore a plain black Giants cap instead of a Pride Night one.The collective bargaining agreement between MLB and the MLBPA states that players who violate uniform regulations will first receive warnings, specifying that they will be subject to further discipline if they do not "immediately cease violating" the regulations. Writing messages on apparel is among the violations listed in the agreement. MLB commissioner Rob Manfred said a "lapse" of communication led the San Francisco Giants players wearing biblical references on their hats during Pride Night. Brubaker was among the players warned for committing a uniform violation during Pride Night in San Francisco. File Photo by Tannen Maury/UPIMLB's warning to the Giants' players drew criticism on social media from those who believed they were being penalized "for their Christian faith," including Hawley, who sent an initial letter to Manfred on June 16.Hawley claimed that MLB had a "legal obligation not to discriminate against its employees on the basis of religion" and requested a response and further information from MLB.Sen. Josh Hawley, R-Mo. (pictured), sent a letter to MLB commissioner Rob Manfred related to the league's warning to players who wrote biblical references on their hats during Pride Night. File Photo by Bonnie Cash/UPIThe U.S. Department of Justice also launched an investigation, with Assistant Attorney General Harmeet Dhillon referring the matter to the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission.MLB said at the time that its verbal warning to the Giants players had "absolutely nothing to do with the content of the message" on the hats. In MLB's response to Hawley, Manfred said that the use of pride emblems on hats and uniforms during Pride Night was requested by the Los Angeles Dodgers and Giants in 2023.San Francisco Giants relief pitcher Sam Hentges wore his standard-issue hat, instead of one commemorating Pride Night, during a loss to the Chicago Cubs on June 12 in San Francisco. File Photo by Tannen Maury/UPIMLB agreed to allow the teams to utilize the emblems on the apparel on a "grandfathered" basis, provided that "no player or uniformed staff would be required to wear them" and that teams would speak to players to ensure they were comfortable with the garb."Unfortunately, this year the Giants' communication with players was inadequate and not clear," Manfred wrote in his letter to Hawley. "Some players apparently did not understand that they had the option to wear their normal uniform and elected to add messages to their hats bearing the pride logo as a result."The Giants players were allowed to wear the hats with the biblical references for the entire game."Manfred said MLB issued the oral warnings before the league was aware of the "Giants' lapse in communication." He also stated that the players "were neither fined nor disciplined, nor will they ever be."The Giants issued an apology last week, saying that they "respect that individuals may make person choices about participating in team activations." The team also said understood the "choices by individual players has caused pain and anger to many in the LGBTQ+ community and we are sorry for that."Brubaker and Walker told the California Post last week that they received negative comments and messages after wearing the messages on their hats."It was just one of those things where we've seen other baseball players do it, so we went along with it," Brubaker told the Post.

📸 No burden at all! CR7 has his World Cup goal, whole team celebrates himWhat all hasn’t the Portuguese national team had to listen to in recent days? After the disappointing 1-1 draw against DR Congo, superstar Cristiano Ronaldo in particular became the target of ridicule and mockery. The 41-year-old was accused of being a sporting hindrance to his team. So there really can be no talk of unrest or even any resentment toward CR7...It also likely helped that Ronaldo passed up a promising free-kick opportunity, which left-back Nuno Mendes converted shortly afterward to make it 2-0.📸 RONALDO SCHEMIDT - AFP or licensorsAlso remarkable: with his goal, the veteran became the first player in World Cup history to get on the scoresheet in a total of six tournaments.Things are going well, you could say. This article was translated into English by Artificial Intelligence. Trump says 6 people have been arrested for damaging the Reflecting Pool
National Guard members look at the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool, Monday, June 22, 2026, in Washington. (AP Photo/Mark Schiefelbein)2026-06-23T17:05:16Z WASHINGTON (AP) — President Donald Trump said Tuesday that six people have been arrested for damaging the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool, as the iconic Washington, D.C. site increasingly becomes a flashpoint over the president’s $14-million-plus rehabilitation project gone awry.In a social media post, Trump claimed without supporting evidence that there had been a “350 foot gash” in the paint as the administration faces a self-imposed deadline to fix the botched renovation before the nation’s 250th anniversary celebration next week. Trump said another seven people were cited for damaging the pool. “It was purposefully and criminally done, and somebody had to work very hard, probably in the dark of night, to create such a condition,” Trump wrote. The Park Police and Interior Department did not immediately respond to requests for comment on Trump’s assertion. The Associated Press verified that one man was arrested after touching the already-peeling paint as federal workers try to deal with an algae bloom in the water. The liner was installed as part of the project to repair the century-old pool, which included a new layer to its bottom in a color Trump has dubbed “American flag blue.” Trump said that “some of the water” will be drained from the pool “either immediately before or after the Fourth of July, to do the permanent repair.”It was unclear from his post what the scale, scope or cost of the permanent repair would be. Read More National Guard members and U.S. Park Police have been patrolling the deck around the pool after Trump insisted vandals were responsible for damage to the liner.Trump pitched the original improvements as intended to clean, beautify and reinforce an iconic site that he said had become dilapidated and dirty because of previous presidents’ neglect. Algae has plagued the pool for a century, and Trump insisted that the newly installed “American flag blue” coating, which he selected himself, would turn the pool into a gleaming expanse along the National Mall. Yet within weeks of Trump declaring the rehabilitation completed in time for Independence Day, the water was plagued by a vivid green algae bloom that clouded the pool’s coating. A piece of liner, about 4 square feet, was observed Friday partially floating in the pool. The Associated Press saw additional pieces in the water Monday. Ronaldo becomes first player to score in six World Cups with goal against Uzbekistan
Portugal's Cristiano Ronaldo, right, celebrates after scoring the opening goal during the World Cup Group K soccer match between Portugal and Uzbekistan in Houston, Tuesday, June 23, 2026. (AP Photo/Ashley Landis)2026-06-23T17:14:39Z HOUSTON (AP) — Cristiano Ronaldo became the first player to score in six different World Cup tournaments on Tuesday, getting a goal in the sixth minute of Portugal’s match against Uzbekistan. The 41-year-old Ronaldo made history when João Cancelo crossed it to him and he shot with his right-foot to make it 1-0. He ran toward the bench and celebrated with his teammates after the score. His goal comes after he was criticized for failing to score in Portugal’s 1-1 draw against Congo in the team’s opening match. Ronaldo and Argentina captain Lionel Messi became the only men in history to play in six World Cup tournaments this year. Ronaldo’s scoring streak started in his debut in 2006 and he also netted goals in 2010, 2014, 2018 and 2022.While he shares the record for most tournaments with Messi, he stands alone in scoring a goal in each edition after Messi failed to score a goal at the 2010 World Cup in South Africa. Ronaldo’s goal Monday gave him nine goals in the tournament. Messi has 18 after a hat trick in Argentina’s opener against Algeria and two more goals Monday against Austria that made him the all-time leading scorer in tournament history. Tuesday’s game was the 230th of Ronaldo’s international career, which is the most in history. This is likely to be the final World Cup for Ronaldo, who won the European Championship with Portugal in 2016 and the Champions League five times with Manchester United and Real Madrid.___AP World Cup: https://apnews.com/fifa-world-cup

Who won the Giannis Antetokounmpo trade? National writers give grades
The Milwaukee Bucks' trade of Giannis Antetokounmpo to the Miami Heat was a seismic event for the NBA.The ripple effects will be felt for a long time, and it is hard to make sense of the pieces in the immediate aftermath. But here is a sampling of the initial grades given to the deal by NBA observers.Lorenzo Reyes, USA TODAY: Bucks (A-minus), Heat (B-plus)The Bucks' high grade is not so much for the players Milwaukee received, but for what could be coming down the line.Key takeaway: "The draft capital is where this deal can really pay dividends for Milwaukee. The No. 13 pick could be packaged with the No. 10 to move up in a talent-rich draft. And the 2031 and 2033 first-round selections are unprotected, meaning that they will be Milwaukee’s no matter what."ESPN: Bucks (B-plus), Heat (B-minus)Writers Zach Kram and Ben Golliver thought the deal worked out pretty well for both sides. They concede that the Bucks didn't get a centerpiece player in return for one of the league's best players, but Milwaukee got some really good role players who still have upside.Key takeaway: "All in all, that's a large collection of lottery tickets that might cash in and help the Bucks build their next contending core, several years down the line. They didn't extract as large a return as they might have had they dealt Antetokounmpo in an earlier window, when he might have brought back a package with more picks and more valuable present-day players, such as what Brooklyn received from Phoenix for Kevin Durant."The Athletic: Bucks (A-minus ), Heat (A)Another bullish look at how the Bucks have set themselves up for the future, with the assumption that Tyler Herro will be re-routed for even more draft capital.Key takeaway: "The Bucks restocked their roster with good players and have veterans they can flip via trade, so they can potentially put together a more competitive, balanced roster in the next two seasons, given their draft assets. This was the best restart they could have for this situation you simply can’t win now."CBS Sports: Bucks (C-minus), Heat (B-plus)Writer Sam Quinn dings the Bucks here for waiting too long to trade their superstar, wasting last season in an attempt to appease Antetokounmpo.Key takeaway: "What Milwaukee is probably hoping for is meaningful draft reform coming in 2029, when the new lottery rules expire. There's a reason teams are so hesitant to trade picks in the 2030s right now. If the rules change, say, to a draft credit system as has been reported as a possibility, controlling Miami's draft resources at that point could prove very beneficial. But that's a hypothetical, which describes so much of this package."SB Nation: Bucks (A-minus), Heat (B-plus)Writer Ricky O'Donnell hits on a lot of similar themes as other graders, focusing mostly on all the draft picks the Bucks now control.Key takeaway: "This feels like the best possible trade return for the Bucks even if it’s a tad underwhelming compared to recent deals for inferior players like Desmond Bane, Mikal Bridges, and Rudy Gobert. The Bucks got quite a bit here given that Giannis only had one more season left on his contract. Landing a second lottery pick in a good draft is nice work. Miami’s unprotected picks in 2031 and 2033 as Giannis enters his late-30s could be juicy."For the Win: Bucks (A), Heat (A)A good deal for everybody! The Heat gets the superstar executive Pat Riley has long coveted, and the Bucks re-stock for the future.Key takeaway: "Will this trade make the Bucks competitive in the fall? We're not sure. However, you can bet that Milwaukee is happy with the return here if the trade partner was Miami. No, it's not Jaylen Brown, but it will most certainly do."Sporting News: Bucks (B-plus), Heat (C-plus)Stephen Noh is skeptical of Miami's side in the trade, thinking that the Heat sacrificed too much depth to be real contenders even with Antetokounmpo.Key takeaway: "This is a good draft, and the Bucks can get a great player at No. 13. I have Yaxel Lendeborg falling to that selection in my latest mock draft. One of the Michigan three of Aday Mara, Lendeborg, or Morez Johnson should be available and would be good pickups."This article originally appeared on Milwaukee Journal Sentinel: Who won the Giannis Antetokounmpo trade? Bruno Fernandes: Galatasaray rule on bold Old Trafford raid
Bruno Fernandes: Galatasaray rule on bold Old Trafford raid Manchester United’s resolve over Bruno Fernandes was always going to be tested this summer, given the magnificent season he had just delivered.Reports suggested Turkish heavyweights Galatasaray had earmarked the Portuguese Magnifico as their top summer target, hoping the headline signing would demonstrate their ambition not only to conquer the Turkish league, but also to make an impact across Europe.Record breakerAfter a season in which Fernandes crowned his brilliance by breaking the Premier League assists record, registering 21 in a single campaign, it was inevitable that top sides would get ideas.Yet while suitors such as Bayern Munich were wise enough to recognise it was mission impossible to prise the Premier League player of the season away from M16, Galatasaray remained bullish that they could get it done. The Turkish side reportedly approached the midfielder’s entourage to gauge whether he would consider a move.Galatasaray make a decision over Bruno Fernandes’ Man United raidWell, those exploratory talks have ultimately led them to one conclusion: the Old Trafford raid is off.Fotomac report that a deal for Fernandes presents a far greater financial challenge than anticipated:“The English club’s asking price of 50 million euros initially made budget planning very difficult for the Galatasaray management.“In addition to the star footballer’s net salary demands, extra obligations such as signing bonuses and performance bonuses were also considered, bringing the total cost to an astronomical level.”Ultimately, Galatasaray conceded it is simply not worth jeopardising their financial structure to force the deal through.Man United should push ahead with a new dealFor INEOS, this is at least a welcome outcome. With the unwanted distraction now put to bed, United can move swiftly to offer Fernandes the new contract that has long been mooted, ending any hope of prising him away from Manchester.Once the behind-the-scenes matters are resolved and the ink is dry, Fernandes can focus entirely on guiding United back to the summit. Not long ago, he confessed his greatest wish was to win the Premier League with United. If he sustains the dangerous form he showed last season, that dream is well within reach.Featured image by Molly Darlington/Getty Imagesonline pollsThe Peoples Person has been one of the world’s leading Man United news sites for over a decade. Iraq star provides insight into challenges of two-hour game delay vs. France
Iraq's Aimar Sher admitted the constant changing of the restart time in their FIFA World Cup game against France on Monday was 'not ideal' -Credit:JEWEL SAMAD, AFP via Getty ImagesFor any athlete to mentally prepare for a match is one thing; to do it twice with an uncertain restart time is another matter entirely.France vs Iraq was halted on the stroke of halftime with conditions rapidly deteriorating. Storm warnings had been issued before kickoff, and an initial shower passed without incident. But approaching the end of the first 45, rain started pouring down, and winds intensified dramatically. The stadium announcer swiftly confirmed the match had been suspended. "Please exit the open seating area and seek shelter in covered areas of the stadium as directed by staff," he declared, prompting boos from the crowd.Australian soccer fans' anti-Donald Trump chant could spark World Cup controversyWorld Cup team threatening to implode over unpaid bonuses after months of waitingThe game between France and Iraq at Philadelphia Stadium was hit with severe weather on Monday -Credit:Icon Sportswire, Icon Sportswire via Getty ImagesInitial communication suggested the delay would add just 15 minutes beyond the standard halftime break. And precisely when conditions appeared to improve, they took a turn for the worse. The rainfall itself had minimal impact on the stoppage. In the United States, safety protocols mandate that if lightning strikes within 10 miles (16KM) of a venue, the sporting event in question must be halted for 30 minutes. Consequently, players remain secure within their locker rooms. The interruption lasted nearly two hours exactly. While hydration breaks have been criticized by certain players for disrupting rhythm, this represented something completely different.Psychologically, the players must adapt, physically they must maintain readiness, and they must prevent their stamina from fading.Iraq's Aimar Sher spoke to Mirror U.S. Sports in the mixed zone following the contest to provide some perspective. To listen to the latest episode of 'All Out Soccer' - CLICK HERE"Of course, it's not fun," he said on the delay and the unknown restart time. "Every five minutes, new information came that the game was going to be delayed. Then we were going to go out at this time, then it changes, changes, changes."At the end of the day, it's the same for both teams. It's not ideal, but it's not my decision when the game is going to be played."One element supporters might overlook is how the athletes manage their fuel intake. Extensive preparation typically centers around the scheduled kickoff time.Managing nutrition becomes challenging as players must avoid overeating, yet failing to consume enough can lead to declining energy levels."It's different for different people, but I think we did quite good," said Sher. "First 10, 15 minutes you just relax, but then you have to keep the energy up, you need to eat, you need to keep the body warm.Aimar Sher (L) and Desire Doue (R) after the 2026 World Cup Group I football match between France and Iraq -Credit:Getty Images"It was a different position I don't think any of us have been in before, but I think we dealt with it quite good."Iraq headed into halftime trailing 1-0 but ultimately fell 3-0, due largely to a Kylian Mbappe masterclass. Despite the defeat, Sher expressed satisfaction with his squad's performance."To be honest, I am proud," he said with conviction. "We are playing against the best national team in the world, best players in the world. We knew it was going to be difficult but I think we stood up in quite a good way."Overall it was OK, but in this kind of game against these kinds of opponents, if you make a small mistake, they will punish you. We made some mistakes and they punish you."But now our mind is just to look forward. We have a game against Senegal in four days, so we are really looking forward to it. Now it's all about getting ourselves ready."

Warriors' Reportedly Exploring Draft Dray Trade For Trey Murphy
The Golden State Warriors will head into the NBA Draft armed with the 11th pick. With multiple gaps to plug in Steve Kerr's rotation, there will be no shortage of options on the board when the Warriors are on the clock. A big man has been the most logical target, considering the team has struggled to find a long-term solution at that position in recent years. However, according to HoopsHype's Michael Scotto, the Warriors may look to trade out of the draft, with Trey Murphy of the New Orleans Pelicans of interest. "Golden State has also been one of many interested suitors in New Orleans Pelicans forward Trey Murphy III, and the two teams have discussed concepts involving the No. 11 pick, league sources told HoopsHype," Scotto reported. "As previously reported by HoopsHype, the Pelicans have searched for a trade into the lottery and are targeting a player. Nate Ament has been mentioned as one potential candidate for the Pelicans."Murphy, 26, would fit perfectly with the younger core the Warriors are building around Stephen Curry and Draymond Green. Nevertheless, the risk of missing out on a high-upside, cost-controlled rookie big is real. Golden State would be trading away potential upside for proven NBA production, which, given the team's desire to contend during Curry's final years, would arguably be the right play. With the first round of the draft now just hours away, Warriors fans won't have to wait too long to find out what direction the front office is going to take. However, if Murphy is truly available, it's certainly worth exploring what a trade package could potentially look like. This post originally appeared on Warriors Wire! Radio host slams cities that won’t fly Pride flags: “It’s not an ideology. These are people.”
A Washington radio host on Monday slammed local governments that have voted against flying Pride flags on public flagpoles to honor Pride Month. “Tell me how a relationship that involves two people that are gay, a gay marriage, or a gay relationship, tell me how it impacts you, and you can’t use religion,” said a frustrated Gee Scott on KIRO Newsradio’s The Gee and Ursula Show. “That’s the first question.” Related The original Pride flag is leaving San Francisco to visit Europe for the first time He then explained that flying a Pride flag is just being a good neighbor. “One of the reasons you leave a porch light on is usually because if some guests are coming to your house, you might have steps, you want to just show them, it’s just a way of being welcoming. A flag being up in your city, in your town, is nothing but a porch light, letting the people of the LGBTQ community know that they are welcomed 100%.” Insights for the LGBTQ+ community Subscribe to our briefing for insights into how politics impacts the LGBTQ+ community and more. To not be welcoming to your neighbor is disgusting.” His co-host, Ursula Reutin, then read a text from a listener who said the current setbacks faced by the LGBTQ+ community are just “the dying gasps of an old regime” and that millennials and Gen Z “see and hate the hypocrisy and injustice.” The listener optimistically proclaimed that “permanent change and acceptance is coming.” But Scott emphasized it’s not that easy. “I remember in the ‘90s, I used to say things like, ‘I can’t wait. This whole way of thinking is gonna die out…’ I got fooled. Because some of the same people that I was going to school with… still had those beliefs of the 1920s. James Pearce: Liverpool must pay £112m to sign top transfer target
James Pearce: Liverpool must pay £112m to sign top transfer targetLiverpool Transfer News: Diomande Price Puts Reds Resolve to the TestLiverpool’s pursuit of Yan Diomande is developing into one of the defining stories of their summer window, with the 19-year-old RB Leipzig forward now firmly established as a leading target for the club’s new era under Andoni Iraola.Credit goes to James Pearce for The Athletic, alongside Gregg Evans, for the original reporting around Liverpool’s interest and the potential price point at which Leipzig may be tempted into negotiations.According to their report, Diomande is Liverpool’s “top target and has been for some time”, although alternative options “are under consideration if an agreement cannot be found”.That detail matters. It suggests Liverpool’s admiration is not reactive, nor simply linked to recent performances. This is a player who has been tracked, assessed and placed high on a recruitment list built around clear attacking needs.Leipzig’s Valuation Creates Major DecisionLiverpool have already seen an opening offer rejected, with Leipzig understandably reluctant to lose a player of Diomande’s profile and potential. The Bundesliga club are also said to want to extend his contract and remove any obvious route to a future cut-price departure. The key line from The Athletic’s reporting is clear: “Leipzig want to keep Diomande and extend his contract but are expected to consider a higher bid in excess of €130m [£112.2m].”Photo: IMAGOThat is a huge figure, especially for a teenager with one standout season in Germany behind him. It would place Diomande in an elite bracket of Liverpool transfer outlays, and any move at that level would carry scrutiny from the moment he arrived at Anfield.Attacking Profile Fits Anfield NeedsThe attraction, however, is obvious. Liverpool lacked explosiveness, unpredictability and genuine one-v-one menace during a badly disappointing 2025/26 campaign. Diomande appears to offer precisely those qualities. The official Bundesliga website described him as “a nightmare for defenders” with “near-instaneous acceleration”, and that kind of profile could be invaluable for Iraola’s Liverpool. This is not simply about adding another forward. It is about giving Liverpool a player capable of changing the rhythm of matches, breaking defensive lines and forcing opponents backwards.Hughes Faces Defining Summer CallFor Richard Hughes, this is the type of decision that shapes a sporting director’s reputation. Liverpool must decide whether Diomande represents a rare market opportunity or an inflated risk driven higher by timing, hype and World Cup exposure.A fee above £100m would be steep, but elite attacking talent rarely arrives cheaply. If Liverpool believe Diomande can become a transformative figure, then hesitation may prove more costly than ambition.Liverpool need clarity, courage and discipline. Diomande would not be a safe signing at that price, but he could be the kind of signing that signals the club’s intention to move decisively into a new cycle. Our View – Anfield Index AnalysisFrom a Liverpool fan’s perspective, this feels like the kind of move the club simply has to explore properly. Yes, £112m is frightening. Yes, Diomande is still only 19. Yes, there is risk in paying that level of fee for a player who has not yet built years of elite-level evidence. But Liverpool cannot spend another summer admiring players from a distance while rivals act. The squad needs spark, pace and fear factor. Diomande sounds like exactly the kind of player Anfield would take to quickly, someone who gets supporters off their seats and gives defenders something to worry about from the first whistle. After such a poor 2025/26 season, fans need signs that the club understand the scale of the rebuild. Iraola will need players who fit his intensity, aggression and forward-thinking football. Diomande appears to tick several of those boxes.Nobody wants Liverpool to be reckless, but ambition has a price. If he is genuinely the top target, and has been for some time, then the club should not drift. Make the judgement, back the manager, and give this new Liverpool era the attacking energy it badly needs.

The 118-page report has been put together by Territoires d’événements sportifs, an association created in the wake of the France-held UEFA Euro 2016. The report provides an assessment of stadiums across the country and calls for France to bid for a major football competition, which could facilitate the modernization of its largest grounds. The report adds that France is one of a few countries in the world able to host a sporting event the scale of a 48-team World Cup. To reduce the tournament’s carbon footprint, a joint bid with a neighboring country – such as Germany – is being considered. GFFN | Bastien Cheval

Sky's slump continues with no end in sight after 29-point loss to WNBA-worst Sun originally appeared on The Sporting News. Head coach Tyler Marsh seemed out of answers when asked what happened to his team in the 29-point loss, the Sky's sixth defeat by double-digits already."There's nothing that we learned from this game from a box-score standpoint," Marsh told the media on Monday night. Tuesday afternoon Cardinal news and notes
—SB Nation’s Ricky O’Donnell ranks the 60 best players in this year’s NBA Draft, which begins tonight. He helped Louisville matter. He played brilliantly. He got hurt. The season ended too soon. The arguments started.None of that is logical. None of it is entirely fair. The Cardinals made a very early splash, securing Shelstad and Bidunga within days of the portal opening — Shelstad was one of the best point guards available, while Bidunga is one of the sport’s premier defenders and will be an immediate All-ACC frontcourt player. Folgueiras was terrific in the NCAA tournament after an up-and-down season at Iowa; Knox brings power, athleticism and some two-way ability; and Montgomery is an excellent defender who can score.—Brent Pry was fired at Virginia Tech in September. Senate is set to vote again on a war powers resolution to halt the Iran conflict
Senate Majority Leader John Thune, R-S.D., joined from left by Sen. Tom Cotton, R-Ark., Sen. James Lankford, R-Okla., and Sen. Shelley Moore Capito, R-W.Va., speaks to reporters after a closed-door meeting with fellow Republicans, at the Capitol in Washington, Tuesday, June 2, 2026. (AP Photo/J. Scott Applewhite) CORRECTION: Sen. Tom Cotton, R-Ark., not Sen. Josh Hawley, R-Mo.2026-06-23T17:37:03Z WASHINGTON (AP) — For the 10th time, the Senate will vote on a war powers resolution to block U.S. military action against Iran as lawmakers warily watch President Donald Trump’s efforts to resolve a conflict that the administration launched on its own and now needs Congress to fund. The outcome Tuesday is not expected to be much different from the previous Senate efforts, which have all failed. But a growing number of Republican lawmakers in both the House and Senate have expressed their concerns over both the war and the deal Trump struck with Iran to end it. Democrats are daring the Republicans to join them in standing up to the Trump administration.“Why is this vote different?” asked Sen. Tim Kaine, the Democrat from Virginia who has led his party’s efforts.Kaine said the pause in fighting, as Trump’s team works to shore up a fragile ceasefire, provides the perfect time for Congress to step back and assess “what should the next chapter be.”The vote also comes as the Pentagon is seeking $80 billion from Congress mostly for the Iran war as it backfills munitions and stockpiles. Trump to meet senators as Republicans balk at Iran deal Trump himself is headed to the Capitol this week to meet with GOP senators as Vice President JD Vance has been overseas working to negotiate with Iran to end that country’s nuclear ambitions — which had been among the stated rationales for the war. The president is not pleased with the Republicans who have been critical of the deal he struck with Iran, according to one GOP senator granted anonymity to discuss the private dynamics. The terms of the Iran deal are spelled out in a Memorandum of Understanding that Trump signed last week, starting a 60-day clock for the sides to reach a broader agreement over ending Iran’s nuclear program. But Republicans have particularly objected to the $300 billion fund to help Iran rebuild, which is far greater than the $1.7 billion then-President Barack Obama refunded the country under his administration’s 2015 Iran deal. “I believe President Trump is getting very poor advice on Iran,” Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, said last week on his podcast after the deal was made public. Read More Democrats have repeatedly forced Iran votesOver and again, Democrats have been forcing votes on the Iran war, almost since the U.S. and Israel launched missile strikes on Iran on Feb. 28.Nearly each week they’re in session, the Senate Democrats have put forward war powers resolutions, but they have failed to amass the majority needed for passage in the narrowly split chamber, where Trump’s Republican Party holds the majority. The House pushed its own version to passage earlier this month, with four Republicans joining all Democrats in approving the war powers resolution, over the objections of House Speaker Mike Johnson and the GOP leadership. It’s that House resolution that the Senate will consider Tuesday. While such resolutions do not go to the president for his signature or carry the force of law, passage would stand as a powerful, if symbolic, statement from Congress and a rebuke of the administration’s military actions. In the past, as many as four GOP senators have voted for the war powers resolutions — Republicans Lisa Murkowski of Alaska, Susan Collins of Maine, Rand Paul of Kentucky and Bill Cassidy of Louisiana. One Democrat, Sen. John Fetterman of Pennsylvania, has typically voted against. Hegseth seeks $80 billion from Congress for the Iran warDefense Secretary Pete Hegseth is also on Capitol Hill this week, seeking roughly $80 billion in supplemental funding to shore up defense supplies in the aftermath of the Iran war, which is drawing scrutiny when many Americans are reeling from high gas prices and costs of living. The Pentagon early on had estimated the war cost $11.3 billion during its first week, and experts have put the overall price tag at close to $100 billion. The Defense Department’s funding request is part of a broader beef-up of military money the White House wants as part of its budget request this year. The Trump administration is seeking $1.5 trillion in defense funding this year — a 50% increase — including $350 billion that it wants in a so-called budget reconciliation package. Johnson and GOP leaders are working to pass that package on their own, over the objections of Democrats, much the way they approved Trump’s big tax cuts bill last year. The 2025 tax cuts package also included a sizable plus-up of about $175 billion for the military.

QB Brendan Sorsby denied opportunity for supplemental draft
On Tuesday, NFL Network reporter Mike Garafolo posted on social media that the NFL has informed former Texas Tech quarterback Brendan Sorsby that they would not hold a supplemental draft this year. This leaves Sorbsy in football limbo. The question now if what is next for Sorsby? By rule, Sorsby cannot sign with any NFL teams this year. He was deemed ineligible to play college football this year after a massive amount of sports betting by him was proven. This included more than 9,000 bets, some of which on his own team.Next up for Sorsby is the waiting game. Sorsby now has to decide how he will spend the next year as he prepares for the 2027 NFL draft. This will be a perfect opportunity for Sorsby to not only work on his game, stay sharp and stay in shape but also do some work on repairing his reputation to put NFL teams at ease before they invest a draft pick in him.Sources: The NFL has informed Texas Tech QB Brendan Sorsby there will be no supplemental draft this year, rendering him ineligible to play in the league this season. Notre Dame ties Florida for most blue-chip commitments in 2027 class
Notre Dame‘s hunt for a second consecutive top-3 recruiting class picked up another key piece on Tuesday afternoon. The Fighting Irish beat out Clemson, Texas A&M and a host of other for four-star defensive lineman Segun Alexander, picking up their third commitment in June and 20th overall in the class. “I knew by the second day that I was going to Notre Dame,” he told Rivals’ Chad Simmons. “After we finished our first full day of activities and experiencing the people, it just felt different. The only school that came close to that feeling was Clemson, but Notre Dame pulled ahead because of the people. It wasn’t fake. It was real.”Alexander is another massive addition to the Fighting Irish’s defensive line class, joining Rivals five-stars Abraham Sesay and David Folorunsho, along with four-stars Aidan O’Neil and Jackson Vaughn. Along with their five-blue chip line commitments, ND has 11 other four- and five-stars pledged. The 16 total blue-chip commits is now tied with Florida for the most of any program in the country this cycle. The Fighting Irish’s No. 3-ranked class actually sits ahead of both No. 1 Texas A&M and No. 2 Miami when it comes to that metric. A year ago, Marcus Freeman and Co. signed 30 prospects — 21 of whom are blue-chips — putting this pair of classes all alone for the most talented two-year run in program history. More big news on the way for the Fighting Irish? And they might not be done just yet. One of ND’s top remaining targets, five-star offensive lineman Albert Simien, is set to announce his commitment on Friday. He will choose between Texas A&M, Notre Dame, LSU, Nebraska and Ole Miss. 72 hours out from Simien’s decision, the Rivals Recruiting Prediction Machine (RPM) favors the Fighting Irish. He took an official visit to campus earlier this month, a trip that made a big impression on the country’s No. 2 interior lineman. “South Bend was great. The Notre Dame visit was great,” Simien told Rivals’ Sam Spiegelman. “Getting to see the lifestyle of the student-athletes was the main thing to me.”

The World Cup match at MetLife Stadium on Thursday between Germany and Ecuador will have an all-female referee team of Tori Penso, Brooke Mayo and Kathryn Nesbitt, U.S. Soccer announced Tuesday on social media. The trio became the second all-female crew to officiate a men’s World Cup match when they did so for the South Africa-Czechia match on June 18. They’re also the first to all be from the United States after France’s Stephanie Frappart led a team during the 2022 tournament in Qatar. Our refereeing trio has their next assignment at New York/New Jersey stadium! pic.twitter.com/uNDIHA2dJd— U.S. Soccer (@ussoccer) June 23, 2026In that World Cup, six women served as officials, the first time that feat was accomplished. Still, the number of female referees around the world remains around 30%, while the number sits even lower near 22% in the United States.“Truthfully, we should have more women at this World Cup than we do,” Kara Seitz, U.S. Soccer’s senior vice president of refereeing, said as reported by USA TODAY's Nancy Armour last week. “So we’ve got to keep fighting.“I felt it was my obligation when I moved to FIFA. That was truly my mission, to ensure that women had that opportunity. My job is to open the door, and for them to run through it,” Seitz said. The trio got their start on the World Cup stage at the women’s tournament in 2023. They were also selected to officiate matches at the 2024 Paris Olympics. For the second straight men’s World Cup, there are six female referees, including Penso, Mayo and Nesbitt. That includes match officials Katia García and Sandra Ramíz and video official Tatiana Guzmàn.The match Penso, Mayo and Nesbitt will officiate Thursday at MetLife Stadium still has some stakes. While Germany has already clinched first place in Group E, Ecuador must win to have a chance at advancing to the knockout rounds.Ecuador fell to Ivory Coast and produced one point via a scoreless draw with Curaçao. Germany, meanwhile, trounced Curaçao 7-1 and edged out Ivory Coast to move to 2-0. Germany will likely rest some of its top players with little on the line Thursday. This article originally appeared on NorthJersey.com: Three US female referees assigned to World Cup match in New Jersey

LGBTQ+ activists demand NYC Pride ban hospitals that ended trans youth care
The Gender Liberation Movement (GLM) is calling on New York City Pride to ban hospitals that have suspended gender-affirming care programs for trans youth. GLM’s letter against the hospitals includes signatories from LGBTQ+ non-profits, the families of trans youth, and former NYC Pride grand marshals. “We call on NYC Pride to prohibit any hospital system that has ended, restricted, or suspended gender-affirming care for transgender youth from marching in the 2026 NYC Pride March and festival, and any future prides, unless and until they restore that care and publicly commit to protecting trans youth and their families,” GLM’s letter reads. “While we understand that not everyone who marches with the hospitals supports these decisions, as institutions, they must be held accountable. New York Pride is uniquely positioned to help lead this endeavor.” Related Judge denies class action lawsuit to challenge DOJ’s collection of trans kids’ medical information While Pride parades are largely open to all, organizers have been known to prohibit certain groups in the past. NYC Pride itself has previously prohibited uniformed police contingents from participating in the parade, owing to the long-standing history of police brutality against the LGBTQ+ community, with the Stonewall Riots often cited as just a single example. Similarly, politicians who have supported anti-LGBTQ+ causes have been barred from participating in the Pride parade before, providing a precedent for banning organizations from participating over their past actions. Never Miss a Beat Subscribe to our newsletter to stay ahead of the latest LGBTQ+ political news and insights. Subscribe to our Newsletter today GLM’s request falls in line with that precedent as they explain the serious harm that these hospitals are doing to the trans community. “Families have been forced to seek care elsewhere, endure significant disruptions to treatment, and confront uncertainty about their children’s futures. At a moment when trans youth need institutions to stand firm, these hospitals chose cowardice over courage,” its letter continues. Specifically, GLM’s letter calls out the multiple New York hospital systems that have capitulated to the Trump administration’s pressure to end gender-affirming care. That pressure has been enacted through threats to federal funding and a subpoenaing campaign that judges have said are intended to “harass” and “intimidate” as are part of an effort to end gender-affirming care through “fear.” The hospital systems called out by name in GLM’s letter are NYU Langone, Mount Sinai, and New York Presbyterian. GLM’s letter points out that NYU Langone received a letter from New York Attorney General Letitia James in February which informed them that halting their gender-affirming care program for trans youth was in violation of New York’s anti-discrimination laws. While James ordered Langone to resume care, they have not done so. Instead, James received a letter from then-Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche saying that the Department of Justice had reviewed the letter to Langone and insisting that the hospital would not renew service. While James’ letter requested that the hospitals that have stopped care be prohibited, it also acknowledges that at least two of the hospital systems have been sent criminal subpoenas requesting personal health documents for trans minors NYU Langone and Mount Sinai. Despite the on-going cases around those subpoenas, Langone is believed to have started supplying those documents to Judge Reed O’Connor of the Northern District of Texas, despite there being serious questions as to whether he has the jurisdictional authority to make such an order. GLM told The Advocate that a wealth of prominent 2026 grand marshals, including Bowen Yang and Dominique Jackson have signed the letter, as well as former grand marshals like GLM co-founder Raquel Willis, TS Madison, and Jazz Jennings. They’re joined by 33 parents and family members of trans children and a wealth of LGBTQ+ organizations and non-profits. “Institutions cannot claim solidarity with LGBTQ+ communities one day a year while abandoning trans youth when political pressure mounts,” the letter goes on to say. “We’re in a historical moment where, as a community, we must be unequivocal about our support for the next generations. Trans youth are not expendable or political pawns. They deserve access to healthcare that allows them to have a future worth living.” Earlier this year, trans journalist Erin Reed wrote of the hospitals’ refusal to continue offering trans youth care, “The decisions are acts of cowardice and capitulation to the Trump administration, and they violate state civil rights law in the process, given that Trump’s threats against the hospitals are not law.” Reed called upon New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani to use his levers of city power to keep his campaign promise to protect trans city residents, as he has not yet seemingly done so in the case of these hospitals. Arsenal open club-to-club talks to sign Jeremy Monga
Arsenal open club-to-club talks to sign Jeremy MongaArsenal have stepped up their pursuit of Leicester City wonderkid Jeremy Monga, opening club-to-club negotiations over a deal for the English youngster, according to The Athletic.Talks between the two clubs are now underway, although no agreement has been reached.Discussions are progressing respectfully, with all parties mindful of the winger’s age and long-term development. The 16-year-old has attracted interest from several elite clubs across Europe, but Arsenal have emerged as his preferred destination. The Gunners are hoping to strike an amicable agreement with Leicester rather than have the compensation fee determined by an independent tribunal.Monga is regarded as one of the country’s most exciting prospects and has already made history despite his age.He became the third-youngest player ever to appear in the Premier League when he debuted for Leicester against Newcastle United in April 2025 at just 15 years and 271 days old.He is behind only Arsenal academy graduates Max Dowman and Ethan Nwaneri. The teenager has since made 37 senior appearances for the Foxes, including 30 during the 2025/26 campaign. He was mostly used as an impact substitute in a difficult season that culminated in the club’s relegation to League One.Primarily deployed on the left wing, Monga is a fearless, right-footed attacker who thrives in one-on-one situations. His willingness to take on defenders, cut inside and attack the goal has made him one of the most highly rated youngsters in English football. He has also shown the versatility to play on the right or through the middle when needed. At his age, there are clearly areas of his game that still require refinement, particularly his defensive positioning and final decision-making.However, Arsenal believe his enormous potential makes him a worthwhile investment.Elsewhere, Arsenal continue to push to sign Morgan Rogers this summer.Meanwhile, Atletico Madrid’s reluctance to sell Julian Alvarez to Barcelona might create an opportunity for the North Londoners to sign him.

Barcelona transfer target confirms exit plans
Barcelona transfer target confirms exit plansAtlético Madrid star and Barcelona transfer target Julián Alvarez has this week dropped something of a bombshell on his current employers. This comes by way of a public announcement, confirming his intention to move on this summer.Frontman Alvarez has of course seen his name dominate the media headlines across Spain for several weeks now, amid links with both Barcelona and Real Madrid. The former have long been considered the favourites to land the former Manchester City standout, amid an ongoing search for Robert Lewandowski’s replacement. And as alluded to above, early this week, Barcelona have seen their hopes afforded a significant boost.Drawn on his future during an interview with ESPN (as cited by Fabrizio Romano) whilst on international duty, Alvarez did not hesitate in revealing his intention to find a new club for next season:“I don’t want to hide or act like I don’t want to be clear. I try to be honest. I spoke to Atlético people and I think the best for everyone involved is for me to leave. I want to fulfil my dream.”Conor Laird – GSFN

NBA Mock Draft 11.0: Latest projections for every pick with fresh intel on day of draft
Draft day has finally arrived! Here's my latest — and possibly final — mock draft based on all the latest intel around the NBA:1. Washington WizardsA.J. Dybantsa, 6-9, BYU freshman forwardDybantsa could become one of the NBA’s most unstoppable shot creators. At 6-9, he has a special blend of athletic tools with the way he bends, shifts, and explodes with the ball in his hands. He gets to the rim at will, cooks in the midrange, draws fouls at a high rate, and displays point-forward potential. In Washington, the pressure will be alleviated on him early in his career, now that he's teammates with veterans Trae Young and Anthony Davis. In the longer term, Dybantsa fits: Alex Sarr already looks like an effective two-way big, while guards and wings like Kyshawn George, Tre Johnson, Will Riley, and Bilal Coulibaly have all shown flashes. But none of them project to be a superstar like Dybantsa, whose upside will be determined by whether he can become a knockdown 3-point shooter, as well as a more impactful defender to take full advantage of his physical tools. But even with those areas for improvement, Dybantsa has an MVP ceiling.2. Utah JazzDarryn Peterson, 6-5, Kansas freshman guardLeague sources expect Peterson to be the second pick in the draft with Peterson offering the highest upside on the board. Peterson is a buttery smooth scorer with a blend of fluid body control and positional size that gives him the ingredients to become an elite NBA player. At the high school level, he was a dynamic playmaker who used his burst to get into the teeth of defenses and generate buckets for himself and his teammates, while also showing off the kind of shot-making that draws comparisons to Hall of Famers. At Kansas, he thrived in an off-ball role, stroking jumpers out of movement actions and showing he can scale up or down depending on what a roster needs. Peterson will join a talented young group featuring Ace Bailey, Cody Williams, Brice Sensabaugh, and Keyonte George, so his ability to shine with and without the ball will be highly valuable. The concern isn't his game. It's his body. He missed 11 of 35 games and pulled himself out of others due to cramping, which he claims are due to taking creatine. But it’s hard to imagine a better situation for Peterson. Even when he isn't scoring, he's a high-impact defender who causes chaos off-ball and has the 6-foot-11 wingspan to switch screens. Now he’ll have support around him with All-Stars Lauri Markkanen and Jaren Jackson Jr. in the frontcourt, and the aforementioned blossoming young talents. The Jazz are actually pretty stacked on paper, especially if Walker Kessler re-signs and stays healthy next year. All this talent means that Peterson won’t have to play savior, and, like Bailey last year, can ease into his NBA routine as a rookie.3. Memphis GrizzliesCameron Boozer, 6-8, Duke freshman forwardAt 6-foot-8 and 253 pounds, Boozer scores from the post with both footwork and power, hits 40% of his 3s on high volume, and has enough handle to run offense as a point forward. He shifts between those modes based on what the defense gives him, and that adaptability led to a 35-win season at Duke and the Naismith Player of the Year. The worry is that he’s not a vertical athlete and the foundation of all that production — overpowering smaller defenders — gets diminished against NBA length. Plus, he’s a modern tweener on defense, lacking the explosiveness and size to protect the rim full-time and the lateral quickness to switch onto guards. But Boozer is at his best defensively when paired with a true center, and he’s got one by his side in Zach Edey. With Cedric Coward, Jaylen Wells, and the other young guys in Memphis — plus whatever pieces get dealt for Ja Morant, who league sources say remains likely to get traded — the Grizzlies now have one of the league’s best young cores. With the bloodline of two-time All-Star Carlos Boozer, the Grizzlies are betting that skill, adaptability, and a track record of winning at every level all lead to superstardom.4. Chicago BullsCaleb Wilson, 6-9, North Carolina freshman bigThe Bulls acquired Nic Claxton basically for free from the Nets on Monday night, and now they’ll get a chance to further bolster their frontcourt with Wilson, the most gifted athlete in the draft. He's 6-9 with springs for legs. When he's flying above the rim, finishing through contact, and chasing down every shot in his area code, he looks like a future franchise cornerstone. That's exactly what the Bulls need in the frontcourt. But Wilson isn't a sure thing. He made too many aloof rotations as an off-ball defender at North Carolina, and the speed of NBA offenses will test him even more. He also won't be sharing the floor with two bigs like he often did in college. On offense, Wilson has never shot jumpers with any consistency at any level, so it'd be a bonus if he can figure that out. And he might have to for Josh Giddey and Matas Buzelis to be optimized. Still, even without the jumper, he has a star upside.5. Los Angeles ClippersMikel Brown Jr., 6-4, Louisville freshman guardLeague sources say the Clippers are weighing Brown, Illinois guard Keaton Wagler, and Arkansas guard Darius Acuff with this choice, but they could also trade down and instead target Brayden Burries. Brown has an unstoppable pull-up jumper, an ambidextrous finishing ability, and the quick reads to rifle passes before the defense has time to react. He had a 45-point breakout performance in February after a back injury dogged him all freshman year and then ended his year later in the month. The absences muddy the evaluation and leave real questions about his consistency that may not get answered until he’s fully healthy. But he’s a massive upside swing to pair in the backcourt next to Darius Garland, who has only two seasons remaining on his contract and shouldn’t be a factor in the choice here. If Brown turns into a steal, then the Clippers can easily move on from Garland. And if not, they could still have the potential to share the backcourt for years to come.6. Brooklyn NetsKeaton Wagler, 6-5, Illinois freshman guardThe Nets took four guard-ish players in last year’s draft, but Egor Dëmin looks like the only true keeper and that hit shouldn’t necessarily stop them from taking an even better guard prospect here. League sources expect Wagler and Mikel Brown to be the primary targets for Brooklyn. Wagler gets the nod in this mock. Wagler showed up at Illinois as a four-star recruit with no expectations of becoming a one-and-done. But he became the orchestrator of a high-powered Illinois offense with his high-IQ playmaking and crafty scoring, leading the team to the Final Four. And now, he’s a top-10 lock. To become an NBA star, Wagler needs to overcome a lack of traditional athleticism. But the best case is that his feel for the game is enough for him to continue ascending.7. Sacramento KingsDarius Acuff, 6-2, Arkansas freshman guardAll indications are that the Kings front office will stay put here and hope that Acuff is on the board. Acuff is a wiry scorer who can get a bucket from anywhere on the floor with a quick trigger, slippery handle, and a feel for manipulating defenses. After entering college with the reputation of a ball hog, he changed that and emerged as a skilled, low-turnover playmaker who sprayed the ball around the floor and put in significant effort moving off-ball. So while he is not the biggest guard or the most explosive athlete, he reads defenses like someone who's been in the league for a decade. He still needs to make dramatic improvements on defense, though, as he was one of the worst defenders in college basketball last season.8. Atlanta HawksAday Mara, 7-3, Michigan junior centerLeague sources say the Hawks want Illinois guard Keaton Wagler if he’s still on the board, and there’s always a possibility they could trade up for him. What’s unclear is who the target is if he’s not. Could it be another guard like Houston’s Kingston Flemings or Arizona’s Brayden Burries? Definitely. But the Hawks could use a true center and the best one in this class is Mara, who stepped on UCLA's campus as a lottery-projected center from Spain. Then he fell off draft boards during two forgettable seasons there before transferring to Michigan and becoming one of the best true 5s in the country on his way to winning the national championship. He reads the floor like a guard, finishes with both hands, and swats shots with elite timing. Quin Snyder will love using him as a facilitator from the wings and elbows, especially with the newly re-signed guard CJ McCollum. The complication is he doesn't shoot from outside, makes below 60% of his free throws, and opponents are going to attack him on the perimeter. But the Hawks are building a team littered with size, length and versatility. If there's anywhere that Mara could best reach his potential, it might be Atlanta.9. Dallas MavericksKingston Flemings, 6-3, Houston freshman guardDusty May leaving the defending champion Michigan Wolverines for Dallas is massive for the future of the Mavericks. May is one of the game's greatest coaches, both as a tactician and as a motivator. And now he'll get to coach Cooper Flagg for years to come. I’d imagine May going to Dallas increases the probability that we see the Mavs take a Michigan prospect with this ninth pick. However, Mara is off the board in this mock. Yaxel Lendeborg is old, and still immature. And Morez Johnson projects as more of a high-end role player, not a star. This could be the final chance in the lottery for Dallas to take a big swing. That’s why Flemings is the pick: The Mavericks find a point guard of the future to pair with Flagg here in Flemings, who plays with surgical midrange touch, an explosive first step and the passing vision of a true point guard who can run an offense. But Flemings is also 183 pounds and midrange-heavy in a 3-point league, and he watched his efficiency crater against the stiffest competition late in the season. The question is whether his scoring package translates against NBA length and spacing, or whether opposing scouts figure him out the same way late-season defenses did. Still, he brings incredible effort and passion to the floor and will likely maximize whatever he's going to become.10. Milwaukee BucksNate Ament, 6-10, Tennessee freshman forwardGiannis Antetokounmpo is gone, and now the Bucks have two lottery picks after receiving the 13th pick as the headline asset in a trade package from the Heat. Now what? Ament is considered a likely target to start building the post-Giannis foundation. Players who can handle, shoot off the dribble, and stand at 6-foot-10 don’t grow on trees. This physical foundation kept Ament in lottery consideration even after a dreadful start to his freshman season when he struggled to score efficiently and make an impact defensively. But over the second half of the year for Tennessee, he flipped a switch and shots began to fall. He averaged 23.8 points over a six-game stretch in January and February that reminded everyone why he was a top recruit in the country. Then he dealt with an ankle injury that ruined his momentum entering March and he severely struggled during the tournament.11. Golden State WarriorsBrayden Burries, 6-4, Arizona freshman guardThe Warriors lost Jimmy Butler to a torn ACL and Moses Moody to a torn patellar tendon, watched Steph Curry miss 27 games with knee issues, and finally gave up on Jonathan Kuminga. Golden State has been desperately searching for a young star to extend Curry's championship window, and bridge into whatever comes next. Maybe Burries is that piece. Burries arrived at Arizona as a top-10 recruit, started slow, and then erupted once conference play began, helping lead his team to the Final Four. He's a physical, versatile scorer who can beat you from all three levels, rebounds like a forward, and competes hard on defense. Steve Kerr, who re-signed for a two-year deal, will love him. But he's a methodical creator rather than an explosive one, and his shooting history before Arizona gives scouts reason to wonder whether the efficiency is real or a blip.12. Oklahoma City ThunderMorez Johnson, 6-9, Michigan sophomore forwardYou know the guy on a championship team who never gets enough credit nationally? The one who sets the bone-crushing screen that springs the star, then immediately sprints to the rim for the lob, then turns around and blows up the other team's pick-and-roll on the other end all in one sequence? That's Morez Johnson. He transferred from Illinois to Michigan and became the connective tissue of the national champions as a 251-pound wrecking ball with surprisingly soft hands and the defensive IQ to guard 1 through 5 in a switch-heavy scheme. If there’s any player who could be a true Victor Wembanyama stopper for OKC, it’s Johnson. The catch is he's not quite big enough to be a true center and not yet proven enough as a shooter to guarantee he spaces the floor. But if there’s any team that can help Johnson reach his upside as a shooter, it’s Oklahoma City.13. Milwaukee BucksKarim López, 6-8, New Zealand Breakers international forwardWith Milwaukee’s second lottery pick, let’s give the Bucks another swing with López, the best basketball prospect Mexico has ever produced. He left Hermosillo at 14 to play professionally in Barcelona, then at 17 moved to Auckland, New Zealand, where he shined for two years in the NBL Next Stars program. He checks a lot of boxes with his excellent physical tools, a hard-nosed approach, a well-rounded ability to defend multiple positions and handle the ball, and a blossoming shot. But he’s thus far more of a jack of all trades since his jumper runs hot and cold and he lacks the burst to blow by defenders off the bounce. Regardless, not every player is drafted with stardom in mind. López has all the requisite skills to enhance a star teammate as a key piece on a winning team.14. Charlotte HornetsHannes Steinbach, 6-10, Washington freshman bigThe Hornets are in need of frontcourt reinforcements. Steinbach played professionally in Germany before enrolling at Washington, and he’ll enter the NBA with some readymade skills as an interior scorer and rebounder. He has massive hands that he uses to grab every possible rebound and finish effectively around the basket. He also showed legitimate touch on 3-pointers in flashes, which would turn him into a very different player if it becomes real. But he’s not quite a true 7-footer, and there are specific matchups where he gets targeted in space. It’s encouraging though that he bulked up from 220 to 248 pounds from the start of his freshman year at Washington until now. He was already strong, and now he’s making the case that he can be a true center for any team.15. Chicago BullsChristian Anderson, 6-1, Texas Tech sophomore guardThe Bulls have incredible size and versatility across the roster. But who’s the point guard of the future? Anderson showed up at Texas Tech as the 101st-ranked recruit and has played his way into the first-round conversation behind dynamic pick-and-roll creation and knockdown perimeter shooting. He does a good job of creating easier shots for his teammates, but at his small stature he hasn’t shown a consistent ability to get to the rim with any regularity. And any small guard will always be a target on defense, so there’s a lot of pressure on his shot translating to the next level.16. Memphis GrizzliesAllen Graves, 6-8, Santa Clara freshman forwardGraves was a point guard before a late growth spurt, and the floor skills carried over when he sprouted to 6-foot-8. He came off the bench at Santa Clara as a redshirt freshman and quietly became one of the most efficient producers in college basketball. But he came off the bench, lacks great athleticism, and struggled against the limited top competition that he faced. But the analytics love him, and he passes the eye test with his elite feel for the game.17. Oklahoma City ThunderYaxel Lendeborg, 6-9, Michigan senior forwardThe Thunder traded away a rotation wing in Aaron Wiggins to the Hawks on Sunday evening, opening up a roster spot which could mean they keep both of their first-round picks. Lendeborg could end up being even better for OKC in short time. He fills the stat sheet, can play multiple positions, and has a 7-foot-4 wingspan at 241 pounds with a genuine handle. But he'll be 24 as a rookie. The arc is a great story. Whether it ends with NBA stardom is still up for debate.18. Charlotte HornetsChris Cenac Jr., 6-10, Houston freshman bigThe Hornets continue reshaping their frontcourt with this pick. Cenac checks every box on paper as a superb athlete who moves like a wing, has the length to alter shots, and shoots from the perimeter. Houston handed him a starting role with national title aspirations and trusted him with heavy minutes. But the Cougars fell short again, in part because Cenac struggled to stay out of foul trouble, couldn’t score efficiently, and was overeager to play on the perimeter despite having the body of a bruiser. He arrived in college with lottery expectations, and he still could become that player in the future. But the NBA team drafting him is taking a project.19. Toronto RaptorsLabaron Philon, 6-3, Alabama sophomore guardThe Raptors clearly needed two things after their Game 7 loss to the Cavaliers: A point guard and a center. Here, they get a point guard. Philon is a shifty, score-first point guard who blossomed into one of the best guards in college basketball as a sophomore. He doubled his scoring output with buttery floaters, a deceptive handle, and a feel for running an offense, while also beginning to shore up the shooting questions that once clouded his projection. But Philon is also a below-the-rim athlete and listed under 180 pounds, so his slight frame remains the one thing standing between him and stardom.20. San Antonio SpursCameron Carr, 6-5, Baylor sophomore wingYou could have watched every Tennessee game for two years and genuinely not known that Carr existed. Then he transferred to Baylor, and led the team in scoring, shot nearly 40% from 3 on high volume, and looked like a 3-and-D role player who also has blossoming skills off the dribble. With NBA genes in his blood, as the son of former player Chris Carr, Cameron has the skills to make it in the NBA. But at 184 pounds with not a ton of games under his belt, he's going to get introduced to the NBA's physicality in a way college basketball never did. The Spurs could use his shooting and creation though as another wing on the roster.21. Detroit PistonsBennett Stirtz, 6-3, Iowa senior guardThe Pistons need more creation alongside Cade Cunningham and Stirtz could be the perfect fit, though The Stein Line reports that Detroit is pursuing ex-Heat guard Norm Powell so that could lead to Detroit going in a different direction here. But Stirtz feels the game at a different frequency than everyone else on the floor, and yet still makes scouts squint because he doesn't look the part athletically. The question isn't whether he can play, though. After transferring from Drake to Iowa, he kept cooking with bullseye passes, pump-fakes, and shooting touch off the dribble from NBA range. If he adjusts to the physicality and speed of the NBA, he could thrive as both a floor general and off-ball connector.22. Philadelphia 76ersHenri Veesaar, 6-11, North Carolina junior bigFinding a center to play behind Joel Embiid needs to be prioritized. Embiid simply cannot be trusted to stay on the floor. Veesaar is an agile big with real shooting touch, connective playmaking, and baseline big skills with the ability to set screens and catch lobs. He also offers rim protection and is a locked-in help defender. He could even play next to Embiid. In all three of his collegiate seasons, he made a massive leap in production each year. The Sixers would need that ascent to continue.23. Atlanta HawksTarris Reed, 6-10, UConn senior centerAfter selecting Wagler in the lottery, the Hawks find their center here. Reed is a throwback center who played at his best on the biggest stage on UConn’s way to the national title game. He does all the dirty work inside the paint as a finisher and rebounder and shot-blocker. But beyond his ability to screen and pass, he isn’t all too comfortable on the perimeter as a shooter or defender. So there are questions about his upside, especially since he’ll be 23 as a rookie.24. New York KnicksKoa Peat, 6-7, Arizona freshman forwardCongratulations to Knicks fans for winning the championship! Mitchell Robinson grabbed a clutch offensive rebound in the closing moments of the game, but he’s a free agent this offseason so the Knicks may need to replace him. Peat's bloodline is so loaded with offensive linemen that it's almost funny he ended up playing basketball. His father played nine NFL seasons. His uncle was a Pro Bowl tackle. Two brothers played college ball on the line. And you can absolutely see it in how he plays: powerful, physical, relentless, and it genuinely takes something special to stop him from getting to where he wants to go. He opened the season with a 30-point game against defending champion Florida and backed it up as one of Arizona's best players all year on its way to the Final Four. Since Peat can’t shoot yet, it’ll be important that he’s paired with a floor-spacing center like Karl-Anthony Towns. Or he could serve as a small-ball center in switchable lineups. So even though Peat entered the year with top-10 hopes, it might be a blessing in disguise for him to fall to the end of the first round.25. Los Angeles LakersDailyn Swain, 6-7, Texas junior wingWhat type of support does Luka Dončić need by his side? Versatile wing defenders who can serve as connectors on offense. Swain is relentless getting to the rim, creative as a finisher, and active enough defensively to project as a switchable wing. But the reason he lives at the rim is because his jump shot is genuinely terrible. He has stiff mechanics, bad percentages, and a reluctance to even attempt it that goes all the way back to high school. He made improvements at Texas, though, so there’s hope his soft touch at the line and from the paint will eventually translate.26. Denver NuggetsEbuka Okorie, 6-1, Stanford freshman guardThe Nuggets need some variety to their half-court offense aside from having Nikola Jokić initiate everything. Well, here’s a guy who could help. Okorie is the best driving guard in the class, a 6-1 jitterbug who manipulates defenders with a tight handle, sudden changes of speed, and an advanced feel for the game. He's not an above-the-rim athlete, though, and not long ago he was a kid from New Hampshire who ranked outside the top 100 and committed to Harvard. Then Stanford found him, he flipped his commitment, and he proceeded to lead the ACC in scoring with eight 30-point games and a habit for hitting clutch shots. NBA teams will have to decide whether what carved up the ACC will survive against bigger, longer defenders.27. Boston CelticsJayden Quaintance, 6-9, Kentucky sophomore bigQuaintance is going to get drafted based almost entirely on what he looked like before his knee exploded. As a freshman at Arizona State, he was blocking everything in sight, showing defensive instincts and mobility that players his size aren't supposed to have, and he was 17 years old doing it. Then came the ACL, the meniscus, the fractured knee, the transfer to Kentucky, persistent swelling, a shutdown for the remainder of his sophomore season, and an inability to fully workout for teams during the pre-draft phase. At some point, someone is gonna take a swing on him though and it’d be hard to fault the Celtics for swinging for the fences here.28. Brooklyn NetsSergio De Larrea, 6-6, Valencia international guardThe Nets moved up five spots for the price of Julius Randle moping around all season long. De Larrea is a tall playmaking guard with major feel and a knockdown jumper who thrives within team concepts. He suffered a dislocated shoulder that ended his 2024-25 season and removed him from draft boards, but it ended up a blessing in disguise since he returned with a bigger role and stronger production for a great team in the EuroLeague. With size, smarts, and defensive versatility, he could carve out a role in the NBA if his international skill can translate.29. Cleveland CavaliersZuby Ejiofor, 6-8, St. John's senior forwardThe Cavaliers could use some more toughness in the frontcourt alongside Evan Mobley and Jarrett Allen. After Ejiofor’s freshman year at Kansas, Bill Self told him he wasn't good enough to play major minutes on any Big 12 team. Three years later, he became the unanimous Big East Player of the Year, Defensive Player of the Year, Tournament MVP, and Scholar-Athlete of the Year — the first player in the league's history to sweep all four in a single season — and he helped St. John's bounce his former team in the Round of 32 on the way to the program's first Sweet 16 in 25 years. Ejiofor found success with foundational skills: motor, length, and defensive versatility. The question with Ejiofor is the fact he’s undersized for a center and his jumper is still a work in progress. But he’s developed enough to deserve a chance to figure it out in the league.30. Dallas MavericksIsaiah Evans, 6-6, Duke sophomore wingEvans is the kind of shooter that defenses guard and think they’ve got him contained, then he uses a screen and catches it off a full sprint, moving away from the rim, and somehow manages to rise into a perfect 3-pointer. He’s a legitimate sharpshooter with the off-ball chops to thrive without even running any offense for himself, and he also has a developing handle that could unlock more creation chances. But he’s still a perimeter-based player who needs to add more layers to his game to become a complete offensive talent.SECOND ROUND31. New York KnicksMeleek Thomas, 6-3, Arkansas freshman wingThomas has the confidence to "run for president," according to Arkansas head coach John Calipari. You could see that on the court the way he never hesitated to fire, stepped right into the lead role when Darius Acuff was sidelined at Missouri to close the regular season, and willed Arkansas to the SEC championship game with 29 against Ole Miss. He's a legit NBA shooter with deep range, a quick release, and creation juice off the bounce. But he doesn't get to the rim, his shot selection drifts into hero-ball, and there are questions about how he’ll deal with NBA physicality at 6-foot-3 and 190 pounds.32. Memphis GrizzliesJack Kayil, 6-4, Alba Berlin international guardKayil is a combo guard with a strong frame, a feel for the game that exceeds his youth, and the grit to become a high-level defender. He just became one of the youngest players to ever win the German League’s Under-22 Player of the Year, joining Franz Wagner and Dennis Schröder on a list that bodes well for his NBA prospects. He committed to Gonzaga back in October, but has decided to stay in the draft — a decision that surprised some scouts since he has yet to prove he can shoot consistently or run an offense full-time.33. Minnesota TimberwolvesJoshua Jefferson, 6-8, Iowa State senior forwardSome players are drafted for their ceilings. Others for their floor. Jefferson lands in the latter category as a 22-year-old senior who spent four years in college getting better at everything to the point he’s a steady, high-feel forward. He can pass out of the post, make connective reads, and guard multiple positions. He just needs his shooting progress to prove to be real, and right now there's not enough of a sample to be sure it is.34. Sacramento KingsAlex Karaban, 6-7, UConn senior forwardKaraban makes defenses pay the moment they relax on him. He relocates for a 3, cuts when nobody's watching, and does everything efficiently. He’s a similarly high-effort, high-IQ player on the defensive end, which helps him overcome his average athleticism. But he'll be 24 as a rookie, and hasn’t shown much upside. He rarely shoots off the dribble because of his funky mechanics. So if his role-player skills are slow to translate, his margin for error is narrower than for most.35. San Antonio SpursRichie Saunders, 6-5, BYU senior wingSaunders is a hard-nosed, two-way wing who plays with manic energy, hustling around the floor hunting for steals on defense and jumpers on offense. The team that gets him knows exactly what they’re gonna get out of him. He’s also skilled, though, with a quick-trigger jumper, soft touch on floaters, and a feel for moving the ball. With less than ideal size and athleticism, he more likely projects as a solid role player. But he’s not a guarantee to succeed at age 25 after tearing his ACL in February, ending his four-year career at BYU.36. Los Angeles ClippersBaba Miller, 6-11, Cincinnati senior forwardMiller is a fluid athlete who grew up playing guard before a late growth spurt. He retained his perimeter skills given the way he can handle in the open floor and make advanced moves. He’s also an equally compelling defensive player who can switch across positions. The big issue, and the main reason why he has spent four years in college, is that he still can’t shoot.37. Oklahoma City ThunderDillon Mitchell, 6-7, St. John's senior forwardMitchell showed up at Texas as a McDonald’s All-American, and back then it looked like a jump shot was the only thing standing between him and stardom. Four years and three schools later, the jumper is still nonexistent. And yet, he’s played his way onto boards anyway as a left-handed power player who finishes everything around the rim, wrecks games on defense, and blossomed into a high-feel passer as a senior at St. John’s. The non-shooting is a problem, but on the right team his athleticism on offense and defensive versatility could allow him to carve out a long career.38. Chicago BullsUgonna Onyenso, 6-11, Virginia senior bigOnyenso has bounced from Kentucky to Kansas State to Virginia, and finally found a home in Charlottesville where he turned into one of the most feared shot-blockers in college basketball. He had 21 blocks across three ACC tournament games, including nine against Cam Boozer in the championship. He lays a brick wall around the basket, though he has heavy feet when guarding on the perimeter and is still developing his offensive skill set.39. Houston RocketsRyan Conwell, 6-2, Louisville senior guardConwell's college career took him from South Florida to Indiana State to Xavier, and then to Louisville, and he got better at every stop. By the end of his senior year he was the leading scorer for the Cardinals at 18.8 points per game. He’s a stocky 6-foot-2 lefty with broad shoulders, no real first step, and exactly one dunk in four years of college basketball. But he's a knockdown shooter with deep range and a bruiser at the rim who absorbs contact like a fullback. The question is whether the climb continues at the next level, when he can't muscle his way to the cup or shoot over the top of smaller defenders the way he could in college.40. Boston CelticsTyler Bilodeau, 6-7, UCLA senior forwardBilodeau was one of the most efficient stretch-4s in college basketball. With his 6-7 frame, he could bring real value with his size and spacing ability at the next level. But no one should mistake Bilodeau for Tyler, The Creator, since he rarely takes shots off the dribble or serves as a playmaker for teammates. He also struggles as a defender, which is truly the big question about his ability to make it in the modern NBA.41. Miami HeatBruce Thornton, 6-0, Ohio State senior guardThornton is a three-level scorer with playmaking feel and the competitive fire that lifts a locker room. But he’s short and not a bursty athlete, which means he projects as a reserve point guard. Players with his intangibles can prove to be important to winning teams though. He was a four-year captain at Ohio State, and improved every year on his way to becoming the school’s all-time leading scorer.42. San Antonio SpursTrevon Brazile, 6-10, Arkansas senior bigBrazile was a projected first-rounder before tearing his ACL nine games into his sophomore year at Arkansas, and the next two years were spent rebuilding the explosiveness that made him a prospect in the first place. He finally put it together as a fifth-year senior with a career year by anchoring Arkansas' defense. His long wingspan, explosive vertical, switchability, and perimeter jumper, all give him the potential to have a long NBA career. But at this point, he’s already 23 and still projects only as a role player.43. Brooklyn NetsNick Martinelli, 6-7, Northwestern senior wingMartinelli is a 6-foot-7 lefty who hunts mismatches on the post, uses footwork and physicality to compensate for his average athletic profile, and he plays with a fire in his belly. He arrived at Northwestern as a three-star recruit, got notably better in each season, and proceeded to become the back-to-back Big Ten scoring champion. There are no questions about his work ethic. The real concern is about whether he can adapt at the next level when he can’t feast on smaller players, and when he’ll be targeted on defense. But he’s beaten the odds so far and will receive chances to prove he belongs in the NBA.44. San Antonio SpursNoam Yaacov, 6-1, Filou Oostende guardYaacov is a talented shot creator with deep shooting range off the dribble, a creative playmaking feel, and a manipulative handle with shifty movements that he uses to break ankles. But he’s only 6-foot-1, and at the overseas level he still had a hard time making things look easy, so there’s a real question whether his style will translate to the NBA.45. Sacramento KingsBryce Hopkins, 6-6, St. John's senior forwardHopkins is a big wing who bullies smaller defenders with hard drives to the rim. But he’s not a one-trick pony. He also passes with feel, rebounds, and offers highly versatility defense. He’s a do-it-all player who could’ve been in the NBA by now if it weren’t for injuries. He was a first-team All-Big East talent at Providence before a torn ACL ended one season and a bone bruise in the same knee wiped out most of the next, limiting him to 17 games over two years. He finally got a full, healthy run at St. John's, regained his explosiveness, and became a pivotal piece on a team that won the Big East title and made a tournament run.46. Orlando MagicEmanuel Sharp, 6-3, Houston senior guardSharp’s calling card is his shooting ability. He can catch fire from 3-point range and be utilized as a weapon off screens. He plays with a high IQ even though he isn’t a primary shot creator as well. On defense, he plays extremely hard to help compensate for the fact he’s on the smaller side at only 6-3.47. Phoenix SunsFelix Okpara, 6-10, Tennessee senior bigOkpara knows his role as a player who protects the paint, runs the floor, finishes lobs, sets screens, and doesn’t try to be more than that. He spent two years at Ohio State, transferred to Tennessee, and helped take the Vols to the Elite Eight as their defensive backbone. He had four blocks in the Round of 32 with clutch defense down the stretch, then a 12 and 10 double-double in the Sweet 16.48. Dallas MavericksMaliq Brown, 6-8, Duke senior forwardBrown guards all five positions and has both the length and IQ to anchor the defense when he’s on the floor. As a 6-foot-8 senior, he was named ACC Sixth Man of the Year and won the Lefty Driesell Award as the nation's top defender. But he struggles to shoot the ball, which will make his offensive fit a difficult one. Regardless though, his defense could be that special that his team can’t help but put him on the floor.49. Denver NuggetsIzaiyah Nelson, 6-8, South Florida senior bigNelson is a 6-8 athlete with a 7-3 wingspan who feasts on lobs, rebounds in traffic, and disrupts everywhere on defense. He sets a tone any time he’s on the floor. After three years at Arkansas State, he followed his coach to USF and proceeded to put up one of the most decorated mid-major seasons in recent memory by becoming the first player in American Conference history to win Player of the Year, Defensive Player of the Year, and Newcomer of the Year. Even though he lacks creation and shooting abilities, he made jaw-dropping plays at the Portsmouth Invitational, then earned an NBA Draft Combine invite, and now has a chance to go in the second round.50. Toronto RaptorsJaden Bradley, 6-3, Arizona senior guardBradley is a 6-foot-3 combo guard with a strong frame, a calm demeanor, and a knack for clutch moments. After arriving in college as a McDonald’s All-American, he lost his starting spot as a freshman at Alabama then transferred to Arizona, where he got better every year and became the team’s trusted leader. As a senior, he won Big 12 Player of the Year, Big 12 Tournament MVP, and led the Wildcats to their first Final Four since 2001. There are questions about whether he can be a lead guard at the next level, but his connective passing, improved shooting, and gritty defense all give him the potential to play big minutes.51. Washington WizardsTyler Nickel, 6-6, Vanderbilt senior forwardNickel has a flamethrower jump shot that Vanderbilt used in a wide array of actions to consistent success all season long. The questions about him are the ones every specialist faces: Does he offer enough other than shooting? Will he survive defensively? But anyone who shoots like Nickel and stands at 6-foot-6 will get a shot to make it in the NBA.52. Los Angeles ClippersBraden Smith, 5-10, Purdue senior guardSmith left Purdue as the NCAA's all-time assists leader, breaking a 33-year-old record. He's arguably the highest-IQ player in the draft who could orchestrate an offense at the college level while also providing scoring off the bounce. But the issue is the one every 5-foot-10 guard faces: he isn't a plus athlete, and bigger guards are going to hunt him the moment he steps on an NBA floor. That’s precisely why he is a projected second-rounder and will need to work his way up.53. Houston RocketsJaden Henley, 6-6, Grand Canyon senior wingHenley is an explosive wing who can dunk over opponents while also switching across positions on defense. But he severely struggles as a shooter, and since he isn’t a primary creator it’s vital he figures out how to make shots fall with greater regularity.54. Golden State WarriorsMichael Ajayi, 6-6, Butler senior forwardAjayi brings role player qualities the way he rebounds at an elite level, passes within the flow of the offense, and defends multiple positions. After a strong year there, he transferred to Gonzaga but struggled, then went to Butler and earned an All-Big East performance by displaying the same qualities that made him an appealing prospect in the first place.55. New York KnicksTobi Lawal, 6-7, Virginia Tech senior forwardLawal is a London-born forward with elite athleticism, but he didn’t start playing basketball until age 16 and it shows with his underdeveloped skills. He’s still figuring out his jumper and doesn’t do much off the dribble. But with NBA-ready hops and a strong frame, he has the tools to be a highly versatile defender who serves as a role player on offense.56. Chicago BullsOtega Oweh, 6-4, Kentucky senior wingAs a 6-4 wing with a strong frame, Oweh became one of the best slashing wings in college basketball and had one of the great games of the season with 35/8/7 against Santa Clara in the opening round of March Madness with a buzzer-beater to force overtime. At the next level, though, he doesn’t project to be a primary creator because of his shaky handle and jumper, so the odds are he’ll need to adapt as a role player. Fortunately, he has a ton of those skills as a cutter, connective passer, and versatile defender.57. Atlanta HawksNick Boyd, 6-1, Wisconsin senior guardBoyd is a polished combo guard who runs the offense like a veteran, scores off the bounce, and simply has a natural feel for the game. But he is already 25, lacks great athleticism, and has a slight frame so he’ll be a target on defense.58. New Orleans PelicansJa'Kobi Gillespie, 6-0, Tennessee senior guardGillespie spent two seasons at Belmont, transferred to Maryland for a year, then came home to Tennessee as a senior and helped lead the Volunteers to the Elite Eight. In the NBA, he projects as less of a lead guard and more of a spark plug who comes off the bench and fires jumpers and reliably runs the offense. The NBA's track record with guards his size is the obvious concern, but anyone who shoots like Gillespie and processes the game at his level deserves a real chance.59. Minnesota TimberwolvesTrey Kaufman-Renn, 6-8, Purdue senior bigKaufman-Renn is a throwback post hub who bullies smalls, finesses bigs, and passes like a point center. But he's a ground-bound tweener who can't shoot and barely blocks shots — he logged only 39 in 147 career college games.60. Washington WizardsMilos Uzan, 6-3, Houston senior guardUzan is a high-IQ combo guard who knits teams together with his playmaking skills and defensive hustle. Those are the translatable skills that made him a fixture in Houston’s rotations for back-to-back 30-win seasons. But then there’s the nagging question about what he actually offers as a primary shot-creator and as a shooter. Uzan could’ve answered that question with a big senior season, but he didn’t take the leap that scouts hoped for.

Marvin Mims: Extension would be sweet, but you can't keep everybody
Broncos wide receiver Marvin Mims was part of Sean Payton's first draft class in Denver, but he doesn't know if this will be his final year playing for the head coach. Mims is heading into the final year of his rookie deal and said an extension would "be sweet," but acknowledged, via Zac Stevens of DNVR Sports, that he knows "you can't keep everybody" given the business realities of the NFL. He also said that he thinks he's made the case for landing such a deal even if he's sometimes felt challenged by the number of chances he has to shine. "I think I've proved it time and time again. just in different stretches, different opportunities," Mims said. "I feel as if the coaching staff knows what they're going to get from me. I love making plays. I love being out there doing the things that I can do. It's just whatever the team needs from me. Sometimes, I'm not in the most fortunate situations. Sometimes I am a little irritated with my situation, but, at the end of the day, I'm blessed to be where I am today, standing right here where I am. . . . With this possibly being my last year, I'm just going to enjoy it to the fullest, going through it carefree and just play my hardest because we have a real chance to do something extremely special."The Broncos traded for Jaylen Waddle this offseason and Courtland Sutton is also signed to a long-term deal, so another big investment at receiver may not be in the cards in Denver. As long as Mims remains on the field in the fall, he could make the ultimate decision a more difficult one.

NFL releases its letter to Brendan Sorsby
In addition to announcing that there will be no supplemental draft in 2026, the NFL released the letter sent to Sorsby by the league office — by handing it to NFL Network. As we hear it, the letter was released to the public before it was received by Sorsby. The full text of the letter from Lawrence P. Ferazini Jr. to Sorsby appears below."We are in receipt of your Petition for Special Eligibility, dated June 16, 2026 ('Petition'). As announced earlier today, the League has elected not to conduct a Supplemental Draft this year."Under our Collective Bargaining Agreement, the League retains sole discretion to determine whether it is appropriate to conduct a Supplemental Draft in any given year. The League has not conducted such a draft for several years and, prior to your submission, the League had no plans to do so this year, as no other player has sought entry. Your Petition — filed three business days before the deadline, without any supporting information or documentation, and only after abandoning your recent litigation efforts to avoid NCAA sanctions — does not provide a basis for the League to alter those plans. The issues presented by your Petition are too significant, and too closely tied to the League's core integrity interests, to permit meaningful review within the timeline presented."The sole reasons identified in your Petition for seeking entry into the Supplemental Draft are that you have been 'declared ineligible' by the NCAA, have 'exhausted all of [your] avenues to continue in the NCAA,' and 'want to now play in the NFL.' The Petition provides no information regarding the basis for, or timing of, the NCAA's decision. Public sources, however, indicate that in May 2026 the NCAA issued a determination declaring you permanently ineligible from participation in college athletics, based on a sustained pattern of improper gambling activity during your collegiate career at three different universities."The League does not have the complete record of the NCAA's investigation, and you did not provide any such materials with your Petition. Available information nonetheless indicates that, over the course of your collegiate career, you knowingly engaged in repeated and significant violations of NCAA rules designed to preserve the integrity of athletic competition. Reported conduct includes placing wagers on your own team and teammates and, to avoid detection, establishing or funding accounts in the names of intermediaries who placed bets on your behalf. There are also reports that you may have violated state criminal law."Your Petition does not address these matters. Nor does it demonstrate accountability for your conduct or indicate whether, or how, you would adhere to the League's rules and policies governing the integrity of competition. Instead, even after receiving notice of the NCAA's decision rescinding your college eligibility in May, you sought to avoid the consequences of that determination through litigation rather than accepting responsibility for your actions, and you pursued entry into the NFL only after abandoning those efforts."As Commissioner Goodell has emphasized, participation in the NFL is a privilege that carries with it significant responsibilities, including accountability. By all accounts, you are a talented player with the potential for future success. We encourage you to focus on preparing for possible entry into the NFL through the 2027 NFL Annual Draft."Comments from Sorsby's lawyer, Jeffrey Kessler, make clear that there will be some form of legal challenge. In a subsequent post, we'll address the multiple problems with the NFL's position, as it relates to the language of the CBA.

Remember when Pam Bondi said matching protest signs prove antifa is real? It didn’t go well for her.
Attorney General Pam Bondi is taking heat for her recent claim that antifa is a well-funded organization because many anti-MAGA protestors have matching signs. The administration has been on a rampage to arrest members of antifa and label it a terrorist organization, despite the fact that it is not an organization at all. The word is used to describe a loose network of left-wing, anti-fascist activists that do not have any specific structure or leadership. Related Sarah McBride expertly trolls Stephen Miller while slamming House Republicans for shutdown “They are organized,” Bondi claimed during a recent appearance on Fox News. “They are a criminal organization. And they’re very organized. You’re seeing people out there with thousands of signs that all match, pre-bought, pre-put together.” “They’re organized, and someone is funding it.
