Pete Buttigieg leads among potential 2028 Democratic presidential nominees
A new poll shows former Secretary of Transportation Pete Buttigieg leading among possible Democratic presidential nominees in 2028.Emerson College Polling asked Democratic Primary voters who they would support from a list of possible Democratic presidential candidates. The list included Buttigieg, former Vice President Kamala Harris, California Gov. Gavin Newsom, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez of New York, Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro, Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT), and several other prominent Democrats. Buttigieg received the most support, with 16% of respondents, beating even Harris, who garnered 13%. Newsom was in a close third with 12%. The poll, conducted on June 24 and 25, was the first Emerson poll of the year to find a negative approval rating for the president. Forty-five percent of all voters in the poll said that they approve of the job he is doing as president, while 46% said they disapprove.
