The Queen Has Passed ...
The world feels a little less bright today.
Dolly Parton has passed away at the age of 80, leaving behind a legacy that reaches far beyond country music. (Reuters)
For generations, Dolly gave us songs that became part of the soundtrack of our lives — Jolene, Coat of Many Colors, 9 to 5, I Will Always Love You, and so many more. But as extraordinary as her talent was, the person behind the music may have been even more remarkable.
She never seemed to forget where she came from. She used her success to lift others up, champion children’s literacy through her Imagination Library, support communities in difficult times, and bring a little more kindness into the world.
Dolly had that rare ability to connect with almost everyone. She could be glamorous without taking herself too seriously, enormously successful while remaining humble, and outspoken while still leading with warmth and humor.
There will never be another Dolly Parton.
Her voice will live on in her music. Her generosity will live on through the millions of lives she touched. And that unmistakable sparkle, wit, kindness, and determination will remain part of American culture for generations to come.
Rest in peace, Dolly. ❤️
Thank you for the music.
Thank you for the laughter.
Thank you for the kindness.
And thank you for reminding us that you can shine brightly without dimming anyone else’s light.
