APNEWS.COMIranians endure war fatigue and soaring prices as conflict deepens domestic woesStreet musicians play music as a woman carries a dog on a sidewalk in northern Tehran, Wednesday, June 10, 2026. (AP Photo/Vahid Salemi)2026-06-12T16:00:51Z CAIRO (AP) — Iranians are living between confusion and exhaustion as the country and its economy are squeezed between war and multiplying crises at home.U.S. President Donald Trump said Thursday that he called off fresh strikes on Iran as he claimed a deal to end the war was imminent. Back-and-forth strikes earlier this week pushed a shaky ceasefire to the edge of collapse, which, if it happens, would inflict more havoc on Iran’s battered economy.Strikes on steel and petrochemical industries and energy infrastructure earlier in the war have spurred a wave of business closures and job losses in Iran, where people now struggle to afford groceries in the face of triple-digit food inflation. Many Iranians are desperate for peaceAlong with the cratering economy, the specter of war has left many people desperate for an end to the turmoil and deeply anxious about the future. Huraz Ahmadi, a 19-year-old street vendor in the capital of Tehran, said he feared renewed fighting.“I don’t think they will reach an agreement, given the way things are going. But I hope they make a deal. An agreement is much better than war,” Ahmadi said. “In wars, innocent and good people die. I personally lost a relative.”In the past year, Iranians have faced two wars – first Israel’s 12-day war in 2025 against Iran followed by a joint assault with the U.S. that began on Feb. 28. Both attacks were launched in the middle of talks about Iran’s nuclear program. Fresh U.S. strikes on Monday sowed confusion in Iran’s capital following growing optimism that Tehran and Washington were nearing a deal. One Tehran resident in his late 20s said the echo of explosions and air defenses in the capital triggered “maybe a half hour of panic.” Long lines formed at gas stations, but people returned within hours to “living normally,” he said. Read More “War is also becoming normal. And that is very upsetting,” the resident said, speaking on the condition of anonymity out of security fears.“Everybody is stressed out for a thousand reasons,” he added. “Our lives are constantly in this political game where we can’t plan anything or know what’s going to happen.” A country ‘tired of instability’A critical demand in talks for Iranian negotiators is that the U.S. deliver some kind of sanctions or economic relief, besides lifting a naval blockade that has throttled Iran’s oil exports as well as imports of raw materials and other goods. Many business owners are struggling to survive, a member of a council representing Iranian industrialists said.“The main concern of many industrialists and entrepreneurs is the survival of their businesses and production. The concern is about the disruption of the supply chain of raw materials, parts and machinery due to the cruel U.S. blockade,” Mehdi Bostanchi said. Tehran-based Bostanchi, who owns a company that makes ventilation systems, is part of a trade group for factory owners across Iran. Its members include textile, food and metal producers and printing firms.Bostanchi said uncertainty over any deal to end the war is stifling the ability of businesses to plan ahead and look toward any kind of recovery. “Society is tired of instability and does not want a wider war to break out,” he added.Iran’s rial currency has also lost over half its value in the past year. Exchange rates have crashed to around 1.8 million rials to the dollar, compared with 41,600 rials 10 years ago.Economic woes stoke unrest and fearThe deepening economic problems have stoked unrest in Iran. In January, security forces shot thousands of anti-government protesters in the streets. Arrests of protesters and those expressing support for them has continued through the war.Alongside fear of their own leaders, Iranians who oppose the government also fear a return to open war, said a social media influencer and therapist who lives in central Tehran and has participated in past anti-government protests.“The war isn’t anything but destruction for us. And in reality, the attacks that happened killed a number of ordinary people and destroyed a number of homes and residential buildings,” she said, speaking on the condition of anonymity out of fear of retribution. Residents contacted by The Associated Press also expressed worries that renewed conflict would lead Iranian authorities to cut internet service again. Repeated blackouts since the January protests have crippled what was a strong digital economy and stoked job losses. A partial restoration has seen a limited uptick in connectivity. Next steps are unclearA few hours after threatening to launch further attacks, Trump posted on social media that significant points in the negotiations “have been brought to the highest level of Iranian leadership and approved.” But a spokesperson for the Iranian Foreign Ministry, Esmail Baghaei, said in a live phone call on state television that mediators were active and nothing had been finalized to end the conflict.Iran’s ability to withstand U.S.-Israeli assaults and to close the globally strategic Strait of Hormuz has also rallied the Islamic Republic’s hard-liner base. Authorities have organized nightly rallies in past weeks as they try to project popular support for a tough stance in U.S. talks.Hamid Reza Bani Ebrahimi, a 47-year-old merchant, said he opposed any agreement that would limit what he sees as Iran’s right to enrich uranium and develop nuclear technology. Israel and the U.S. have repeatedly struck sites and figures linked with the country’s atomic program.“Our scientists worked so hard to acquire this technology, and then they came and martyred them,” Bani Ebrahimi said.Abdullah Hosseini, a 45-year-old university professor in Tehran, said Iranian strikes on Gulf states and Jordan this past week were part of an effort to deter further attacks.“I don’t like war. I am extremely worried about people and children being killed,” Hosseini said. “But sometimes war is necessary, and now is the time for Iran to stand against its enemy.”But Tehran-based analyst Rahman Ghahremanpour said the back-and-forth strikes this week had deepened concerns in Iran that the conflict “could turn into a crisis without end and in reality make running the country more difficult” in the face of economic pressures.“Both America and Iran are looking for a way out of this situation with honor and claiming victory so they can strengthen their own domestic situation,” he said.0 Comments 0 Shares 26 Views 0 Reviews

This time around, with the White Sox in the catbird seat at the one-third season mark, we issued a straightforward (if unexpected, just a month ago) one:Woof, lookee what a weak American League and surprisingly strong White Sox team does to a fan base’s confidence! The wild thing is, since we issued the survey, the White Sox have extended their MLB-best run to nine of 13 and moved into first place! The national questions this week were a little bit fun, a little bit not. SPORTS.YAHOO.COMWatch every World Cup goal from the opening day of actionMEXICO CITY, MEXICO - JUNE 11: Raul Jimenez #9 of Mexico celebrates with teammates after scoring the team's second goal during the FIFA World Cup 2026 Group A match between Mexico and South Africa at Mexico City Stadium on June 11, 2026 in Mexico City, Mexico. (Photo by Carl Recine/Getty Images) | Getty Images Goals, goals, goals! The 2026 FIFA World Cup is officially underway and we had five goals scored on the first day of action across two games. The first game on offer saw host nation Mexico dispatch South Africa 2-0. Even though El Tri’s goals were historic for different reasons, there ended up being more red cards (three) than goals. If you had that on your bingo card for the opener, congratulations. In the late game, South Korea pulled off a comeback victory over Czechia in the second half after a strong display that could fuel a magical run in the competition. Hwang In-Beom and substitute Oh Hyun-Gyu both scored in a 13-minute span to secure all three points. Check out all the goals, red cards and more from the opening day of action.Julián Quiñones becomes first Concacaf player to score opening World Cup goalMEXICO SCORES THE FIRST GOAL OF THE 2026 FIFA WORLD CUP 🇲🇽It's Julián Quiñones in the scoresheet! pic.twitter.com/SnoP04ltFP— FOX Sports (@FOXSports) June 11, 2026Mexico opened the tournament in front of the El Tri faithful at the Estadio Azteca (Mexico City Stadium) looking to break their opening match curse. Some sloppy play out of the back by South Africa saw Sphephelo Sithole barged off the ball in a dangerous area. As soon as Quiñones gathered it, a goal felt inevitable. The roar of the crowd truly signified the start of the tournament. The midfielder committed a DOGSO offense, or denial of a goalscoring opportunity, just on the edge of the box and he was shown his marching orders. The 35-year-old rose to prominence during his time in the Premier League with Wolverhampton Wanderers and Fulham. Though, a head injury in the 2020-21 season threatened to end his career early. For everything he’s gone through to rebuild himself over the years, you could tell by his celebration and the noise emanating from those in attendance how much his first World Cup goal meant to him. What a moment. If Mexico is to go deep in the tournament, they’ll need their striker firing on all cylinders.Down to nine men!?South Africa is down to 9 players after a second red card 🟥 pic.twitter.com/uS87sjfQlI— FOX Sports (@FOXSports) June 11, 2026Themba Zwade put South Africa in an even deeper hole late in the second half after being shown a red card for violent conduct. Hong Myung-Bo’s team tried to establish their possession-based system, playing through the lines early while relying on stars Lee Kang-in and Son Heung-min to provide the decisive moment. For all the dangerous chances they created early, however, it was Czechia who broke the deadlock in the second half.A long throw set piece saw defender Ladislav Krejcí rise highest in the box, blasting a header into the back of the net. There were question marks of offside with a player standing in front of the goalkeeper, but the goal was given. Set piece again, ole ole! Or… set piece for the first time this summer, ole ole? SPORTS.YAHOO.COMHornets could send a clear message with proposed NBA Draft tradeHornets could send a clear message with proposed NBA Draft trade originally appeared on The Sporting News. Add The Sporting News as a Preferred Source by clicking here. The Charlotte Hornets could take an aggressive approach to the 2026 NBA Draft if they decide quality is more valuable than quantity. One proposed trade would move the franchise from No. 14 to No. 9.Under the proposal, Charlotte would receive the ninth overall pick from the Dallas Mavericks. Dallas would acquire the No. 14 and No. 18 selections in return. The deal reflects where the Hornets are in their rebuild. Charlotte has spent the last several drafts adding young talent and now has a growing collection of developing players on the roster. Because of that, the front office may place greater value on securing one player near the top 10 than on adding multiple prospects later in the first round.A move up five spots would also increase Charlotte's pool of available players. ESPN analyst Bobby Marks noted that prospects such as Aday Mara and Yaxel Lendeborg could be difficult to reach at No. 14, making a move into the top 10 easier to justify. The Hornets would still maintain flexibility even after the trade. Marks pointed out that Charlotte would continue to hold three first-round picks in the 2027 draft through a combination of its own selection and picks acquired from Dallas and Miami, subject to protections. For Dallas, the proposal offers a different path. The Mavericks would turn one lottery-adjacent pick into two first-round selections. That approach could help a roster that has limited access to future first-round picks over the remainder of the decade. The added draft capital would also create more options on draft night. Dallas could keep both selections and add multiple young players, or it could use one of the picks in a separate move. Having additional assets often provides teams with greater flexibility than a single selection.Marks noted another factor the Mavericks would need to consider. Dallas already owns the No. 30 pick, meaning this trade would leave the franchise with three first-round selections. While that would create opportunities to add young talent, it could also lead to roster decisions, as available spots are limited. The proposal ultimately comes down to team-building philosophy. Charlotte would be betting that moving up five spots is enough to secure a preferred prospect. Dallas would be betting that three first-round picks provide more value than one.More NBA news:Nets linked to aggressive move for No. 3 pick in Cameron Boozer pursuit5x NBA All-Star says Spurs failed Victor Wembanyama in historic collapse vs. KnicksVictor Wembanyama finds himself at center of ugly postgame sceneMitch Johnson’s blunt Victor Wembanyama take proves why Knicks had no answer in Game 3NBA legend Shaquille O'Neal shares savage honesty about Victor Wembanyama-Jalen Brunson incident that Knicks fans won't like0 Comments 0 Shares 26 Views 0 Reviews

WWW.LGBTQNATION.COMAnti-LGBTQ+ group praises GOP gov. for signing “Family month” declarationNebraska Gov. Jim Pillen (R) signed a proclamation on June 3 designating this month as “Marriage and Family Month.” His proclamation makes his state just the latest among several red states that have recently tried to give Pride Month a conservative and anti-LGBTQ+ rebranding. “The nuclear family, consisting of one husband, one wife, and any biological, adopted, or fostered children, is God’s design for the family structure and has been the foundation of every society since the creation of the world,” Pillen’s proclamation reads. Related Happy Straight Pride Month! Wait… let me double check my notes The proclamation’s signing ceremony was attended by Nate Grasz, executive director of the anti-LGBTQ+ Nebraska Family Alliance (NFA). Grasz praised the proclamation, stating, “At a time when other states and cultural trends are celebrating ‘Pride,’ this proclamation sends a powerful message that marriage still matters because mothers and fathers matter and children deserve both whenever possible,” Grasz said. “Nebraska isn’t following the culture—we’re leading with truth. In his statement praising the proclamation, Grasz also mentioned Them Before Us, a campaign to end marriage equality in the U.S. supported by a coalition of 47 anti-LGBTQ+ organizations. Sam Petto, communications director for the ACLU of Nebraska, said in a statement, “The governor has been very clear that he’s got one particular view on what an acceptable family is. And families with two moms and two dads don’t fit that picture. I’d say none of this comes as a surprise to queer Nebraskans and their loved ones.” “The partners who were involved with it are very purposefully pitting it against Pride,” he said. “It certainly invites skepticism – any claim that it’s not an intentional slight or that the timing isn’t purposeful.” “Queer and trans Nebraskans live in every corner of the state. All kinds of families should be accepted, recognized, and celebrated,” he added. “There’s no good reason to draw a line between some and others, as the governor did with his proclamation.” Subscribe to the LGBTQ Nation newsletter and be the first to know about the latest headlines shaping LGBTQ+ communities worldwide.0 Comments 0 Shares 26 Views 0 Reviews -

SPORTS.YAHOO.COMBraves called best landing spot for long-shot .761 OPS Astros shortstop trade targetBraves called best landing spot for long-shot .761 OPS Astros shortstop trade target originally appeared on The Sporting News. Add The Sporting News as a Preferred Source by clicking here. The Atlanta Braves are sitting atop the National League East and have a commanding lead over the Philadelphia Phillies and the rest of the division. With how good this team has played this season, there aren't many issues they could look to resolve by the August 3 trade deadline. But, aside from another outfielder or a more stable designated hitter, the Braves should seriously explore shortstop upgrades. This need led Zachary D. Rymer of Bleacher Report to name the Braves as the best landing spot for a .761 OPS shortstop from the Houston Astros in Jeremy Pena. While it's a long shot, Pena would be the ideal trade pickup for Atlanta this summer.Braves linked to Jeremy Pena as best landing spot for Astros star"This might be the biggest long-shot on this list," Rymer writes. "A team with World Series aspirations deserves a better shortstop, and Pena is probably the best the Braves can feasibly get this summer."Pena would be an incredible trade pickup for the Braves, though the odds of a deal are very small. Not only are the Astros trying to avoid selling in general, but Pena, under club control through the 2027 season, might not be made available this summer. However, if Astros GM Dana Brown opens the door to a Pena trade, the Braves should strongly pursue the former All-Star and World Series MVP shortstop in a trade. He has a .761 OPS this season along with a .281 batting average. His 113 OPS+ isn't terrible either, and with solid defense, Pena is the kind of player worth investing in.MORE: Tarik Skubal being traded by Tigers would help him in free agencyWith Ha-Seong Kim being a major disappointment this season, and the big questions about the shortstop position for Atlanta so far this season, it would make sense for the Braves to add a star like Pena by the deadline this season. This Braves team is fantastic, but they could use a little extra help to be World Series contenders with the Los Angeles Dodgers superteam, a tough team to overcome this fall.Rymer named the Braves as the best landing spot for Pena this season, and it makes perfect sense for everyone involved. The Braves have the need and the resources to pull off a trade, Houston could get a huge return, and Pena could join a contender.More MLB news:5 reasons to believe in Jordan Walker's breakout for CardinalsEx-MLB GM projects White Sox to sell at trade deadline despite 2026 successCubs’ cost to trade for Tarik Skubal from Tigers revealed by ex-MLB GMYankees’ Ryan McMahon problem has a $25 million release solution Phillies extending Cristopher Sanchez to his $107 million deal was genius0 Comments 0 Shares 26 Views 0 Reviews

SPORTS.YAHOO.COMInside the UFC's White House week: Dana White, diplomats and the bizarre road to Freedom 250WASHINGTON, D.C. — Regardless of how you might feel personally about the UFC’s “Claw” structure that has erected on the White House’s South Lawn with Viagratic might, it is a marvel. It can be seen at least a mile away as you head down Pennsylvania Ave., peeking over the tree line like the dawn of a new day. The White House sits somewhere behind it from those distances, quietly enduring its gleaming house guest which, from the looks of things, has made itself right at home. Not that President Donald Trump is in a hurry to get rid of it. He joked last week that it could become a permanent structure, much like the Eiffel Tower in Paris. Even if he’s pulling our chain, there are a good many locals who aren’t in the mood. My Uber driver asked me why they couldn’t just put plastic pink flamingos out front if they wanted to be tacky. It's the first thing that grabs your attention, though, that steely star-spangled structure. It’s Independence Day a few weeks early, closer to the film than the actual day itself, the actual semiquincentennial. If it were a children’s book, it would be called, “The UFC Goes to Washington.” Not that it’s a negative thing here in the nation’s capital. Many people I talked to seem to like it. Even when I went over to the U.S. Department of State on Thursday, there was a SXSW-type of buzz in the air, only instead of catching Meat Puppets at Stubb’s we were there to see Dana White sign a piece of paper with Secretary of State Marco Rubio. U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio and UFC CEO Dana White participate in a Memorandum of Understanding signing ceremony at the State Department.BRENDAN SMIALOWSKI via Getty ImagesLast month Rubio was with Pope Leo XIV in Rome. This month, Dana White, who was wearing tennis shoes. White was there to sign an MOU – which means a Memorandum of Understanding, a kind of ceremonial handshake deal for a shared vision for maximizing global reach. The Department of State has an MOU with NFL, too, for instance. “We come from very humble beginnings, when we first bought this company 25 years ago,” White said when he took his turn on the microphone. Twenty-five years, it should be noted, is exactly 10% of the 250 consecutive years that America has been operating. “We believed at that time that this thing would work everywhere and work all over the world. I’ve always had this philosophy, and thank God it ended up being true, but no matter what color you are, what country you come from, or what language you speak, we’re all human beings and fighting’s in our DNA. We get it, and we like it.” As far as I could tell, other than UFC COO Lawrence Epstein (who is mostly a politician anyway, as evidenced by his actual first name, Ike), I was the only delegate of MMA at the gathering. Even among the media. The other press gathered were fraternity brothers and sisters from Washington. If the “P” word has been delicately handled by the UFC as it “celebrates America’s 250th birthday,” which rhymes with folitical, the crude manner in which it was being slung around by this media contingency made you wonder if anyone there got the memo. Those in attendance as guests were largely embassy officials and members of the Diplomatic Corps, wearing loafers and suits, snapping up the stemware as they engaged in some modest day drinking and sampled a good many hors d’oeuvres. The chandeliers hung overhead. The stanchions were gold. The Eagle emblems were gilt as well. When people stop to reflect how far the sport of MMA has come in its 33 years of existence, which has been a theme all week for UFC Freedom 250, the sight of Dana White being escorted from (what must be called) the antechamber to the Ben Franklin Room to the podium illustrates the point. All around are reminders of America’s forefathers. The UFC’s own forefathers have receded into the background. White has told everyone over the last few weeks that Zuffa purchased what was essentially a sporting leper for $2 million back in 2001, and it was none other than Donald Trump who extended the first olive branch by booking them into the Taj Mahal in Atlantic City when nobody else would. UFC 30 was Zuffa’s first time playing the Taj. Of course, the previous owners of the UFC, Bob Meyrowitz’s SEG, held a show there at UFC 28. It took SEG a long time, with the help of the then-commissioner Larry Hazzard, to get the sport sanctioned in New Jersey, which is as insignificant a detail in today’s tellings as it is to remember Grover Cleveland’s favorite snack (pickled herring). James Werme, who held many stations from a 23-year-old peon to a UFC executive from 1995-2002, was there. “We were not only sanctioned by New Jersey when Zuffa bought the show, we were also sanctioned by Louisiana, Mississippi, Iowa,” Werme says, “and of course we could do shows in Georgia, Alabama.“I know things were bad and I don't want to deny that, but to say that this was a renegade back-alley thing is just not true, because in some ways we kind of teed it up [for a run of success] — or at least gave a glimpse of what it could become.” What it has become is a $7.7 billion enterprise, with important fans in Washington who have turned the sport of MMA into a symbol of the broader fighting spirit. These days the metaphors are as strong and sturdy as the Claw itself, which looks as though it’s scooping itself a nice helping of pure American soil. “UFC is tailor-made for diplomacy,” was the way Under Secretary of State for Public Diplomacy, Sarah B. Rogers, put it as she opened the proceedings on Thursday.“Sports is a stand-in for combat. It is the most ancient and universal form of contention. And not only does the UFC draw on that universal human tradition, it is tailor-made for diplomacy because it accommodates and embraces all international styles. Whether you’re a Brazilian jiu-jitsu artist or a Chinese kung fu master or an American boxer, UFC is a sport where you can fight, and you can win.”UFC, of course, is no more a sport that the NBA or the NFL is, but I can assure you this would be considered “quibbling” among the assembled. In any case, she said that getting the UFC on board meant “expanding and doubling down on our sports diplomacy portfolio,” and called the Octagon the “ultimate meritocracy,” which I’ve long contended. It took some time, but the metaphors of a writer’s fancy are now “axiomatic” enough to bring people together. Back in the day, in the late 1990s, the UFC’s having two appearances on the hit show “Friends” stood in for validation, as did appearing on the cover of “Mad”magazine, where Alfred E. Newman sits cageside holding a catcher’s mitt hoping to snag a heart that has been ripped from somebody’s chest. “I remember the early fights back in the day and you could get a 170-pound jiu-jitsu guy fighting a 250-pound heavyweight who was a striker, the rules weren’t clarified,” Rubio said when it was his turn to speak. “And Dana and the people around him had a vision, and that is create a structure around this company. To give it rules, to define it by weight class, to structure the events.”By the time Zuffa purchased the UFC, it had long been running toward regulation, but they were but entertainment men without political pull. They were just worried about holding up against political opposition, cable industry opposition, corporate opposition, opposition of every prude kind. Prude in 2026 has blossomed into prudent, which is either a dystopian development as one side says, or a happy evolution on the other. In any case, when Lorenzo and Frank Fertitta bought in, it all changed. The casino magnates would get the sport of MMA sanctioned in Nevada in mere months, and from there it was on. It is true, the sport would not have flourished without Zuffa. It is the fact, even the details can’t be contained. Now it’s at the White House.Lights shine from the UFC Claw during a test in preparation for UFC Freedom 250.Aaron Schwartz via Getty ImagesRubio, who used Carlos Ulberg’s fathomless grit after a blown-out knee to beat Jiri Prochazka in winning the UFC’s light heavyweight title as a metaphor for American perseverance, called Sunday’s hootenanny a “gift to the American people.” “We could have done a band, we have great bands, we could have done a Shakespeare in the park production, there are a lot a things we could’ve done with it,” he said. “But this one will have people watching — probably, what, over what, a billion people all over the world? — a billion people all over the world will be watching America celebrate its 250th birthday, with the White House in the background and some of the best athletes in the world in that Octagon.”A billion, of course, is a hefty number. But the larger point was that fighting “speaks to the human spirit,” and it chooses its words much better now that Dana White is the mouthpiece. Back when others tried to speak to the human spirit that way, politicians like John McCain called it “human cockfighting.” “I mean, and that's why my era, the ‘Dark Days,’ gets skipped over, because it's better for them to go right from John McCain’s human cockfighting to ESPN deal, to the Paramount+ deal,” Werme says. “In order to recognize my era, you have to recognize the evolution, the rules evolution, the sanctioning evolution, the everything, the mainstream, the pop culture, the international expansion, the [SEG era] video game, the multimedia stuff. “So that's why my era tends to get skipped, because it would take away credit and take away from the hero story that Dana likes to convey.”Heroes don’t always wear capes. But they do wear smirks. Epstein introduced White as the UFC’s own “secretary of state,” and White talked about the UFC’s global reach.“What’s been fascinating over these last 25 years is, when you go into these different countries, presidents from the countries, or royal families from the countries, everybody loves the fights,” White said. “And more importantly, if somebody looks like you, talks like you, and comes from where you come and they’re looked at the best in the world when it comes to fighting, the entire country rallies around them, and it’s a powerful thing.” Afterward, White and Rubio disappeared back to (what I presume was) the antechamber, while the media was whisked out through the kitchen, and down to the service elevator from where we came. On that huge slow elevator, one of the political reporters said, “So I guess the message is that punching people in the face is what America is all about?”Another answered, in trying to understand the global interplay between UFC and the State Department, “So, if an Irani fighter doesn’t submit, we bomb them three more times?” There were laughs. Nobody was really sure what had been agreed upon. Yet once back outside, as everyone dispersed in different directions, you could see the Claw sticking out over the tree line, just as real as it gets.0 Comments 0 Shares 26 Views 0 Reviews

SPORTS.YAHOO.COMGiannis trade alert: The sneaky move that could make Boston championsPhoto by Chris Gardner/Getty ImagesBoston continues to get linked to Giannis amid Miami rumoursWhat stands out about the latest round of Giannis Antetokounmpo rumours isn’t Miami’s interest, which has been an open secret for a while. It’s the way Boston keeps popping up in the conversation anyway.Jake Fischer reported that rival teams continue to identify the Celtics as a legitimate factor in any future Giannis discussions. According to Fischer, Boston is viewed as a potential suitor that “genuinely concerns” Miami despite the Heat’s long-standing pursuit of the former MVP.On paper, that should be a heavy lift. Boston is carrying one of the league’s most complicated cap situations. Jayson Tatum is recovering from a major injury. The Celtics are navigating second-apron restrictions that make superstar acquisitions far harder than they were a few years ago. Rival executives keep bringing them up regardless, and that says something about how the rest of the league sees Boston.Photo by Luca Sgamellotti/Euroleague Basketball via Getty ImagesBoston’s credibility in the Giannis chase goes beyond trade assetsPart of the reason is that Boston still has assets that hold real value. Even after years of playoff runs, the Celtics can put together offers built around future picks, young players and contracts that aren’t hard to move. Teams know this. But Fischer’s reporting hints at something bigger than just asset management. People keep bringing up Boston because the organisation has a habit of getting involved in deals no one expected them to be part of. Brad Stevens has spent years building one of the NBA’s more trusted front offices, known for both its boldness and patience. When insiders talk about Boston’s assets, they’re not just talking about draft picks or player packages – it’s also a reflection of how much trust they have in the organisation’s ability to make things happen.Hanlen connection keeps Boston in the mixThere’s also a growing belief that connections outside the court are playing a role. Jayson Tatum and Giannis Antetokounmpo both work with renowned trainer Drew Hanlen, a link that may not seem decisive on its own but is frequently mentioned by people around the league whenever Giannis’s future is discussed.Shared relationships and familiarity can help teams position themselves for big moves. Boston has enough of those ties to keep them in the conversation, even if nothing is imminent. For Miami, it’s not really about Boston’s financial situation. The Celtics don’t have an obvious path to a trade at the moment, but that’s not what makes them dangerous in this race. The concern is that few teams are better positioned than Boston when it comes to landing a player of Giannis’ stature. The Heat know exactly how tough it is to compete against a team with a strong championship core already in place. Miami can offer culture and stability, but so can Boston. Most teams would need to prove they can reach contender status. The Celtics only need to show they can maintain theirs — and that is far easier for Giannis to buy into.Boston keeps showing up in the conversationThe most revealing part of the latest Giannis Antetokounmpo rumours has little to do with Miami wanting him. Everybody knew that already. What stands out is that Boston keeps showing up anyway.According to reporting from Jake Fischer, rival teams continue to identify the Celtics as a legitimate factor in any future Giannis discussion. Fischer reported that Boston is viewed as a potential suitor that “genuinely concerns” Miami despite the Heat’s long-standing pursuit of the former MVP.On paper, that should be a heavy lift. SPORTS.YAHOO.COM“Tampering Took Place”, “This Isn’t Football” – Fans React As Northeastern Pitcher Cooper Maher Reportedly Enters Transfer Portal With ’Do Not Contact’ TagCooper Maher - Source - Instagram/maher.cooperNortheastern Huskies pitcher Cooper Maher’s reported entry into the NCAA transfer portal sparked discussion among college baseball fans. The “Do Not Contact” designation attached to his profile is the reason for the fan discussion. The tag often means the player may already have a destination in mind. This prompted fans to share their reactions and theories on social media.Maher was one of Northeastern’s promising young arms during the 2026 season. The right-hander logged 43.1 innings and posted a 3.53 ERA, per Baseball-Reference Amateur and College Register. He also earned CAA all-freshman team honors. The news about Maher’s transfer portal entry surfaced on Thursday when On3’s Transfer Portal X account shared the update, citing college sports insider Pete Nakos.“NEW: Northeastern RHP Cooper Maher has entered the NCAA transfer portal with a “Do Not Contact” tag, @PeteNakos reports. Maher posted a 3.53 ERA in 43.1 IP. He was named to the CAA All-Freshman team,” the post read.Baseball fans on X aired their thoughts and feelings about the matter in the comment’s section.“”Do not contact” tags are so funny to me,” a fan noted. “It’s basically saying “I’ve already talked to and agreed to a deal with a school” which would mean tampering took place…. And the NCAA just allows it 😂.”“So that means tampering occurred, right? Lol,” a fan seconded the thought. “Basically saying “I’ve already agreed to sign with another team prior to entering the portal”.”“Not true, this isn’t football,” a fan disagreed. “Most have advisors that are main contacts. NCAA is a joke , baseball is the least of their problems.”“He is good. Someone will be very lucky to get him,” wrote a fan.“No doubt Arkansas reached out by the 2nd inning in the regional,” a fan chimed in.“Loved watching this kid pitch,” a fan noted.Fan reactions varied from jokes to serious analysis. SPORTS.YAHOO.COMONE Friday Fights 158 Co-Main Event Result: Mamuka Usubyan’s Clinical Striking Frustrates Kartoum In Technical WarMamuka Usubyan put on a masterclass in long-range striking to spoil Enzo Kartoum‘s promotional debut in the co-main event of ONE Friday Fights 158. The Russian emerged victorious via unanimous decision in this featherweight kickboxing bout inside Bangkok’s iconic Lumpinee Stadium on Friday, June 12.The opening round of this Asia primetime battle was a methodical chess match. Usubyan controlled the range with a sharp, long jab and probing body kicks. Kartoum, an ISKA kickboxing World Champion, meanwhile, bobbed behind a tight shell, oftentimes unloading with a single shot before disengaging. Usubyan added push kicks in the second frame, stretching his long-range threat even further. None of that slowed Kartoum down as he went airborne to close the gap, even landing a jumping kick and following with short punches to the body. Every time the Team Mehdi Zatout debutant found his footing, though, the Archangel Michael warrior switched stances and countered with a textbook right hook. Photo courtesy of ONE ChampionshipKartoum sensed the deficit and raised his intensity to open the final round, launching three-punch combinations that momentarily troubled the Russian. Still, Usubyan answered with peppering straights and uppercuts, while Kartoum charged forward with right hooks of his own.Deep into the final round, Usubyan’s footwork remained as sharp as ever. The 32-year-old kept weaving in and out of danger, tagging Kartoum at the end of his combinations and preventing his opposite number from connecting with the same efficiency.Volume and precision told the full story on the scorecards. The unanimous decision extended the Archangel Micheal representative’s perfect ONE Championship record to 4-0, moving him to 24-2 overall.Photo courtesy of ONE ChampionshipONE Friday Fights 158 Full Results:Mamuka Usubyan defeats Enzo Kartoum via unanimous decision (kickboxing – featherweight)Kyaw Swar Win defeats Slatan Jitmuangnon via unanimous decision (Muay Thai – bantamweight)Petphupa Aekpujean defeats Wuttidet Torfunfarm via knockout at 2:17 of round two (Muay Thai – flyweight)YodUdon K Tongtalingchan defeats Tepkamin ThanapolResort via unanimous decision (Muay Thai – atomweight)Petsuphan Lookmuangpetch defeats Rawee Puanpratuphee via unanimous decision (Muay Thai – flyweight)Ricardo Sanchez defeats Yanis Ben Alaya via unanimous decision (Muay Thai – strawweight)Ployjan Sitnayokdam defeats Sheila Barrios via unanimous decision (Muay Thai – atomweight)Kazuteru Yamazaki defeats Chen Jiayi via majority decision (kickboxing – flyweight)Source0 Comments 0 Shares 26 Views 0 Reviews

McCarthy‘First-Round Pick Entitlement’ — NFL Analyst Slams Kyler Murray’s Attitude Over Splitting Reps With J.J. McCarthyNew Minnesota Vikings quarterback Kyler Murray has been splitting first-team reps with J.J. McCarthy during the OTAs and minicamp since being signed in March. Murray joined the Vikings following the Arizona Cardinals’ decision to release him after seven years under center for the franchise.Analyst Blasts Kyler Murray for J.J. McCarthy Reps CommentsEarlier this week, Murray detailed the strain on his performances, which has resulted from splitting first-team reps with McCarthy. The quarterback’s comments caused widespread discourse among NFL fans and analysts.During an appearance on Thursday’s segment of the “NFL Live” show, ESPN analyst Tim Hasselbeck blasted Murray over his comments about splitting reps with McCarthy during practice.“I get a little bit of a kick out of Kyler Murray’s comments about having to split the reps,” Hasselbeck said. “I don’t really mean this in a negative fashion, but that’s kind of first-round pick entitlement… Kevin O’Connell, who was not a high-round pick when he was a player, understands that.”“Unlike the scenario that he was in in Arizona, where he was anointed the starter because of where they drafted him, you have to get your reps however you may get them,” Hasselbeck added. “So, in some ways, it’s kind of like cluelessness of what it’s like to actually compete for a job in the NFL, which is, you got to make the most of any opportunity that you get.”Take a Quick Break. WWW.LGBTQNATION.COMBud Light sponsors Trump’s UFC cage fight 3 years after MAGA boycotted over trans influencer videoBud Light has gone from sponsoring Pride events in major U.S. cities to sponsoring the Trump administration’s UFC cage match on the White House lawn. Three years after a one-off Instagram video partnership with transgender influencer Dylan Mulvaney sparked a MAGA boycott, the brand’s logo will appear alongside those of Dodge Ram, Morgan & Morgan, Corona Extra, and Polymarket in the massive temporary arena constructed on the White House’s South Lawn, where the UFC Freedom 250 event will take place on June 14, the Associated Press reports. Related Trump fawns over “good looking” UFC fighter as Iran talks fall apart The sponsorship appears to be Bud Light’s latest effort to win back anti-LGBTQ+ conservatives after the 2023 boycott, which cost its parent company, Anheuser-Busch, around $1.4 billion in North American revenue and knocked the brand out of its long-held position as the best-selling beer in America, according to CBS. In the immediate aftermath of the Mulvaney controversy, CEO Brendan Whitworth released a statement essentially apologizing for the partnership, saying that Anheuser-Busch “never intended to be part of a discussion that divides people.” And in 2024, the company’s European branch CEO, Jason Warner, claimed that the brand would “stay in our lane“ and avoid controversial issues. Insights for the LGBTQ+ community Subscribe to our briefing for insights into how politics impacts the LGBTQ+ community and more. Subscribe to our Newsletter today But it appears that “controversial issues” may have been code for LGBTQ+ sponsorships. Last year, Anheuser-Busch ended its partnerships with several major U.S. cities’ Pride events, including San Francisco Pride and Pride St. Louis. In 2024, Bud Light partnered with comedian Shane Gillis, who lost a job at Saturday Night Live over his use of racial and anti-gay slurs. In April, the brand announced a new partnership with UFC, sponsoring the mixed martial arts promotion company’s “Bud Light UFC Summer Series.” Notably, UFC CEO Dana White is a Trump ally, and the president has closely aligned his personal brand with the UFC. The president reportedly bought between $15,000 and $50,000 worth of stock in UFC’s parent company, TKO Holding Group, in May, according to the New York Times. Marketed as part of the administration’s celebration of America’s 250th birthday, the June 14 UFC Freedom 250 event has drawn criticism for coinciding with the president’s 80th birthday rather than the July 4 anniversary of the Declaration of Independence. One Washington lobbyist told NBC News this week that sponsorships for the event are seen as a way to curry favor with the president. Paramount+, whose parent company, Paramount Skydance, is seeking FTC approval for its merger with Warner Bros. Discovery, will stream the event live. And The Independent notes that the Trump family is also directly profiting from UFC Freedom 250 memorabilia. A lawsuit filed earlier this month by the Public Integrity Project seeks to block the event, describing it as “a corrupt scheme to hand the White House South Lawn and Lincoln Memorial to a private, for-profit sports promoter in violation of federal law.” “This is a profoundly corrupt scheme to enrich the President and his friends,” Public Integrity Project founder Brendan Ballou said in a June 6 statement. “If this fight is allowed to proceed, it will be only the beginning, and our national monuments will become little more than branding opportunities for the rich and well-connected.” Subscribe to the LGBTQ Nation newsletter and be the first to know about the latest headlines shaping LGBTQ+ communities worldwide.0 Comments 0 Shares 26 Views 0 Reviews -

The governing body said it was powerless to intervene in the situation, stating it is "not involved in host country immigration processes, including visa adjudications, and has been informed by authorities that Mr. Artan's status will not be changed at present," via The Mirror US.FIFA release statement after Somali referee turned away at US borderTrump administration denies World Cup referee entry over terrorism concernsSomali referee Omar Artan was turned away at the U.S. border in Miami ahead of the FIFA World Cup -Credit:Buda Mendes - FIFA/FIFA via Getty ImagesAndrew Giuliani characterized Artan as a "bad actor" and said it was "absolutely" the right call to bar him from entering the United States. Speaking to talkSPORT, the executive director of the White House's Task Force for the World Cup claimed that Artan had been in communication with "bad people" very recently."There are some things that we can't talk about," Giuliani said. "What I can tell you, from looking at it, is that he's the only referee, he's the only non-Irani official, that has been banned from coming into the country for this tournament."He was talking to some bad people, very recently, about actions here in the United States. I'll leave it at that. I know CBP (U.S Customs and Border Protection) has made a statement on it. What I can tell you from my standpoint, and having seen the information on what he was doing, was that I stand by CBP's decision. It was the right decision."What President Trump has been clear on, is he wants to welcome the world that wants to enjoy the World Cup, that wants to participate and be a part of this World Cup here to the United States of America during this incredible tournament. But he's not going to let the guise of a soccer tournament come in and give bad actors a potential opportunity to take action in the United States."To listen to the latest episode of 'All Out Soccer' - CLICK HEREWhen questioned further on whether he was implying Artan had potential connections to terrorism despite possessing a valid U.S. visa, Giuliani replied: "Again, I go back to what CBP has said about this. What I'll say is, from my seat, it was absolutely the right decision and I stand by it."Artan has since been designated to officiate the UEFA Super Cup final, where Champions League winners Paris Saint-Germain will face Europa League winners Aston Villa in Salzburg, Austria, on August 12.The assignment follows his exclusion from the World Cup, where he would have earned up to $100,000 for overseeing group-stage matches.Notwithstanding this setback, Artan continues to be held in high esteem, having established himself as one of Africa's leading referees. He previously took charge of the second leg of the 2025/26 CAF Champions League final and claimed the CAF Men's Referee of the Year award in 2025.0 Comments 0 Shares 26 Views 0 Reviews

SPORTS.YAHOO.COMWhy Phillies are Byron Buxton's best landing spot at MLB trade deadlineWhy Phillies are Byron Buxton's best landing spot at MLB trade deadline originally appeared on The Sporting News. Add The Sporting News as a Preferred Source by clicking here. The Philadelphia Phillies are in dire need of right-handed hitting outfield help this season, and it's clear that there are not many options set to be available either. But Minnesota Twins superstar Byron Buxton is someone the Phillies would likely love to trade for this summer if possible.Bleacher Report's Zachary D. Rymer named the Phillies as Buxton's best landing spot in a trade this season. The Phillies should be the best spot for Buxton by the August 3 trade deadline, as the fit makes perfect sense for everyone involved. Why Phillies are Byron Buxton's best landing spot"But since Byron Buxton has a no-trade clause, it's vital that his prospective suitors have a real chance at not just winning, but going as far as the World Series," Rymer writes. "And right now, the Phillies check both boxes even without a high-functioning offense."The Phillies are a great landing spot for Buxton as they're a World Series contender, have a clear fit on the roster for him, and have an aggressive roster-builder in Dave Dombrowski who isn't afraid of a blockbuster deal.Looking strictly at his fit on the Phillies roster, Buxton would instantly become the everyday center fielder over Justin Crawford, who might be a part of this blockbuster trade. He's also the star right-handed hitter this team so desperately needs, and is a great fit with Bryce Harper, Kyle Schwarber, and Brandon Marsh at the top of the Phillies lineup. From the Twins' perspective, they've already traded with the Phillies twice last season, sending Harrison Bader and Jhoan Duran in two separate deals, both of which gave the Twins some intriguing prospects.MORE: Phillies extending Cristopher Sanchez to his $107 million deal was geniusThe connection between the two front offices is there already, and Dombrowski should have an easier time opening the door to a trade. While some other teams might be a good suitor for Buxton, there's not a team that needs him more than the Phillies, that's willing to offer the package necessary to get him, and has the World Series odds that the Phillies do.Buxton's no-trade clause is a hurdle, but it would not be unrealistic for the Phillies to be able to convince Buxton to accept a trade, pursue a World Series title, and reunite with Duran on one of the top contenders in MLB.The Phillies were called Buxton's best landing spot this season, and for good reason. A trade would benefit everyone involved, and the Phillies are one of the few teams likely to meet the lofty demands of the Twins in a potential trade.More MLB news:5 reasons to believe in Jordan Walker's breakout for CardinalsEx-MLB GM projects White Sox to sell at trade deadline despite 2026 successTarik Skubal being traded by Tigers would help him in free agencyCubs’ cost to trade for Tarik Skubal from Tigers revealed by ex-MLB GMYankees’ Ryan McMahon problem has a $25 million release solution0 Comments 0 Shares 26 Views 0 Reviews

APNEWS.COMJudge denies Kennedy Center request for pause in ruling ordering Trump’s name removed from buildingA worker sits on scaffolding at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, Friday, June 12, 2026. (AP Photo/Cliff Owen)2026-06-12T17:16:42Z WASHINGTON (AP) — A judge has denied a request from the Kennedy Center to pause a ruling ordering President Donald Trump’s name removed from building. That denial came Friday. U.S. District Judge Christopher Cooper ruled last month Trump’s name was illegally added to the iconic Washington performing arts facility. Cooper ruled only Congress could institute a change to the Kennedy Center’s name and ordered references to Trump to be removed by Friday. ‘A June 4 memo to staff from the Kennedy Center’s Office of General Counsel said email signatures, letterhead and other documents must reflect the name as “The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts” or “Kennedy Center.” The Kennedy Center’s website has dropped Trump’s name. And an email earlier this week sent to members offering ticket packages for the June 28 Mark Twain Award for American Humor ceremony came from the Kennedy Center without including Trump’s name. After ignoring the Kennedy Center for much of his first term, Trump has wielded tremendous influence over the venue during his return to office. Just a month into his second term, he ousted the center’s previous leadership and replaced it with a handpicked board of trustees that named him chairman. SPORTS.YAHOO.COMGhana's Thomas Partey will miss first match after being denied entry into CanadaGhana midfielder Thomas Partey is set to miss the team’s opening World Cup match on Wednesday after being denied entry into Canada, according to The Athletic. The Black Stars are scheduled to play Panama at BMO Field, which is their only group stage match in the country.“FIFA can confirm that player Thomas Partey will be unable to travel from Ghana’s team base camp in Boston, USA, to Canada for their first match against Panama on Wednesday, 17 June, as his visa application has been refused by the Canadian government,” FIFA wrote in a statement to The Athletic. “FIFA is not involved in the immigration processes of host countries, including the adjudication of visas. As with previous FIFA events, the host government ultimately determines who receives a visa and is admitted into the country.”The 32-year-old Partey is facing legal issues in London after being charged with five counts of rape and one count of sexual assault in 2025, which he pleaded not guilty. In April, he also pleaded not guilty after being charged with two new counts of rape. The first alleged offenses involved three women between 2021 and 2022. A London’s Metropolitan Police investigation began in Feb. 2022. In Aug. 2025, a fourth woman came forward with allegations and Partey was charged again this past February.“Thomas Partey continues to deny all charges against him. He has cooperated fully with the police throughout," said Partey's lawyer, Jenny Wiltshire, at the time. "Given that legal proceedings are ongoing, there will be no further comment.”Canada's immigration law states that “if you have committed or been convicted of a crime, you may not be allowed into Canada. In other words, you may be ‘criminally inadmissible.’” Partey has not been convicted and is awaiting trial that may not take place until 2027.After Ghana plays Panama, Partey will be eligible for their final group games against England in Foxborough, Massachusetts on June 23 and Croatia in Philadelphia on June 27.Partey, who joined La Liga side Villarreal in 2025 after five seasons with Premier League side Arsenal, was part of Ghana’s traveling party when the team arrived in Washington D.C. on June 4. On Friday, players and staff traveled to their base camp at Bryant University in Rhode Island.Partey left Arsenal after his contract expired following the 2024-25 season. He continued to play for the club following the revelation of the charges. This past season he played 32 games for Villarreal where his contract runs through the end of June.0 Comments 0 Shares 26 Views 0 Reviews

SPORTS.YAHOO.COM2026 World Cup: Get-in ticket prices for USA-Paraguay on par with Game 5 of NBA FinalsOn the second day of the 2026 World Cup, Team USA will take the pitch. The U.S. will take on Paraguay in California, making it the first time in 32 years that Team USA will take part in a World Cup game hosted in the United States. Because of that, ticket demand is fairly high for the event. The get-in price for USA vs. Paraguay sits at $1,137 as of Friday morning, per Gametime. That figure is on par with Game 5 of the NBA Finals, which has a get-in price of $1,430. Among the first four World Cup matches, that $1,137 figure ranks as the second-highest get-in price so far. Mexico vs. South Africa: $3,968USA vs. Paraguay: $1,137Canada vs. Bosnia & Herzegovina: $922Korea Republic vs. Czechia: $637Perhaps unsurprisingly, Mexico’s game against South Africa was easily the most expensive game to attend thus far. The contest was held in Mexico City, giving home-town fans a chance to see their beloved national team take the pitch. Despite that high cost, the game was well-attended, with over 80,000 fans turning up to watch Mexico take home the 2-0 victory.Interest in Team USA isn’t that high, though it will still cost fans a fair amount of money to attend Friday’s game. The U.S. is hoping for a better performance compared to the last time the World Cup was hosted in the United States. Team USA finished in the Round of 16 that year. That’s been par for the course for the men’s team at the event. The men have only reached the quarterfinals at the World Cup once. That came back in 2002. Should the USMNT surprise and make a deep run, tickets will likely see a significant increase should the team advance to the later rounds. While USA-Paraguay is on par with Game 5 of the NBA Finals, that comparison doesn’t hold up when taking games at Madison Square Garden into account. Game 4 of the NBA Finals had a get-in price of $3,368 on Wednesday afternoon. And if the Finals extend to Game 6 — when the series will come back to MSG — costs will be even more out of control. The get-in price for that game already sits over $11,000. That figure will likely increase if the Knicks lose Game 5. It’s unclear whether the World Cup will see those kinds of numbers deeper into the tournament. Mexico seemingly has a shot at registering some ludicrous numbers if its team plays well, but will that be enough to topple ravenous Knicks fans who want to see their team win its first championship since 1973?0 Comments 0 Shares 26 Views 0 Reviews

SPORTS.YAHOO.COMYorkshire's Luxton hits century against WarwicksRothesay County Championship, Division One, Scarborough (day one)Yorkshire 386-6: Luxton 167, Whiteman 55, Bairstow 49*; Barnard 2-47Warwickshire: Yet to bat Yorkshire (3 pts), Warwickshire (2 pts)Match scorecardWill Luxton posted a maiden first-class century as Yorkshire made a dominant start to their County Championship match against Warwickshire at Scarborough.Luxton, 23, is a North Marine Road regular. This is his 13th career Championship appearance for the White Rose and his fifth at this venue, and his 167 off 261 balls underpinned their 386-6 from 96 overs. He has now scored two first-team centuries, both against Warwickshire. His other - 105 not out - came in a One-Day Cup win in 2024.Luxton, who reached his century with a slog-swept six against spin just before tea, shared first-, second-, fourth- and fifth-wicket partnerships of 102, 90, 94 and 74 with Adam Lyth, Sam Whiteman, Matthew Revis and Jonny Bairstow. The latter trio contributed 55, 40 and 49 not out respectively. These two counties had each won two games from six coming into this fixture and were separated by only 15 points in a tightly bunched Division One table. Warwickshire were third, Yorkshire eighth.Although on first evidence this looks a decent batting pitch, it is not a featherbed. There is a green tinge to it, for example. It was no real surprise when Bears' captain Ed Barnard, who struck twice with his seamers, elected to bowl upon winning the toss. But the visiting attack largely struggled for consistency. There was some - but not significant - assistance via extra bounce and swing.Yorkshire reached at 118-1 at lunch, and Luxton was strong through the off-side off both front and back foot en-route to a 78-ball fifty - his first of the season in all formats.Barnard had Lyth caught behind tentatively pushing forwards for 29 as the score fell to 102-1.Frustratingly for the Bears, however, Luxton found another left-handed partner in Whiteman, who has missed the past three Championship matches and the first half of the T20 Blast through injury.Western Australia captain Whiteman scored a century in his last appearance against Sussex at Headingley in late April. He worked the ball off his pads particularly nicely here before being stumped down leg having advanced at Warwickshire's spin-bowling debutant Manav Suthar, the Indian Test left-armer to leave Yorkshire on 192-2.A six-minute rain delay followed immediately.Barnard then claimed his second wicket when James Wharton was brilliantly caught behind one-handed diving to his right by Alex Davies as the score slipped to 209-3.Luxton's previous best score in first-class cricket came on this ground last year in a draw against Surrey, a 71 batting at number four in the order. He actually reached his century in 182 balls with a slog-swept six over deep mid-wicket off Suthar, the ball disappearing out of the ground and into one of the gardens of the nearby guesthouse. But the former England Under-19 player had actually moved from 50 to 100 in much more circumspect fashion.Prior to this innings, Luxton had only scored 130 runs in the Championship and T20 Blast combined in 2026.Yorkshire reached tea at 238-3, and Luxton and Revis calmly advanced Yorkshire up to 303 before the latter was bowled by a beauty from Bamber with the new ball.Bairstow then lofted Bamber for six over long-on moments before Luxton's 150 came up in 282 balls.Luxton and nightwatch Ben Cliff fell in successive overs late in the day - lbw sweeping at Suthar and caught at first slip off Oliver Hannon-Dalby respectively. But Yorkshire will still be thrilled with their work.Report by ECB Reporters' Network, supported by Rothesay.Notifications, social media and more with BBC Sport0 Comments 0 Shares 26 Views 0 Reviews

SPORTS.YAHOO.COMRed Sox Hitter Seen Working With Aaron Judge's Personal Hitting Coach In New VideoRed Sox Hitter Seen Working With Aaron Judge's Personal Hitting Coach In New Video originally appeared on NESN. Add NESN as a Preferred Source by clicking here.Caleb Durbin has been hitting much better as of late for the Boston Red Sox, but he is still looking for ways to get better.Durbin was off to a terrible start to the season at the plate, and he was benched for two straight days near the end of May. However, since that point, he has been on fire. Since his benching, he is slashing .341/.348/.636 with two home runs, a triple and five doubles. He also spent time working at Gradum GSwing in Waltham with Lorenzo Garmendia. The work with a private hitting coach clearly helped, and Durbin's approach has been much better. He is hitting the ball in the air more, and the numbers are improving. However, Garmendia is not the only hitting coach he is working with. Richard Schenck, Aaron Judge’s personal hitting coach, posted a video on Wednesday of him working with Durbin.Schenck posted a thread of his work with Durbin, focusing on keeping his head still. He even posted a video noting how keeping the head still led to Durbin having his first career multi-homer game on Wednesday.Durbin is still looking for ways to be a better hitter, and his work with Gradum and Schenck seems to be helping. He was a National League Rookie of the Year candidate last season, and he is finally starting to look more like that player at the plate. Add SportsNet Pittsburgh as a Preferred Source by clicking here. The Pittsburgh Pirates dropped two of three to the Los Angeles Dodgers, which was frustrating for the team.Pittsburgh went 1-5 in its six-game set against the Atlanta Braves and Dodgers, who are the two best teams in baseball. Although the record in those six games was disappointing, Brandon Lowe believes there are positives to be taken away but also lessons to be learned.“The record doesn't reflect how good I think we've played in certain scenarios,” Lowe said postgame on Thursday, via DKPittsburghSports. “Obviously, the Dodgers are a legit team and our offense put up some pretty good numbers off of them, but it just kind of goes to show that you watch their at-bats and how they go about the game, you watch the way they pitch, the way their bullpen goes, the way they play defense, and you hope guys in here just learn. “Obviously, they're tops in the league for a reason and obviously the score didn't go the way that we wanted it to, but there's still a bunch of things to learn and a lot of baseball left.” After going 1-5, the Pirates fell to 35-34 on the season and are a game back of a Wild Card spot, so Pittsburgh is still firmly in playoff position. The Pirates will begin a three-game series against the Miami Marlins on Friday.More MLB: Pirates Listed 'Potential Fit' To Trade For Two-Time All-Star Slugger0 Comments 0 Shares 26 Views 0 Reviews

WWW.LGBTQNATION.COM“He is so insane”: Trump claims 6 states steal children & force “transgender mutilization” on themDuring a press event at the Oval Office on Thursday, Donald Trump claimed that there are six states that are taking people’s children and forcing them to transition, leaving people wondering if Trump was lying or if he had lost his mind, since this is not happening anywhere. “No men in women’s sports,” he said in the middle of his long, rambling response to a question about the SAVE America Act, which would restrict voter access. “We are talking about saving America. No men in women’s sports. Another one, very popular. I think it is 99-to-1… They say it is 80/20, I think it is 99-to-1.” Related Trump bizarrely brought up trans women during DoorDash stunt & it got awkward “And we have no mutilization of your children for transgender purposes. You see, transgender mutilization of your children? Does that sound good with you?” he asked someone standing behind him, who said, “Not at all.” “Where your child leaves your house, and they take your child from you, in some cases… Think of it, in six states, they take the child and do what they want to do. What they do is, is- I don’t even want to talk about it! No transgender mutilization of your children.” Insights for the LGBTQ+ community Subscribe to our briefing for insights into how politics impacts the LGBTQ+ community and more. People also called him out for not knowing the word “mutilation.” The guy is simply delusional. He repeats this crap over and over and over again even though not a word of it is true.— Diane McKenna (@DianeMcKenna22) June 12, 2026 If you're going to lie, at least get the correct word. APNEWS.COMJudge rules Trump can stage UFC fights on White House’s South Lawn this weekendThe arena for the UFC Freedom 250 fights is pictured on the South Lawn of the White House in Washington, Thursday, June 11, 2026. (AP Photo/Julia Demaree Nikhinson)2026-06-12T17:21:14Z WASHINGTON (AP) — A federal judge refused on Friday to stop the White House from staging a UFC show this weekend in an elaborate ring already built on the South Lawn to celebrate the nation’s 250th anniversary — on President Donald Trump’s 80th birthday.U.S. District Judge Amit Mehta’s ruling allows organizers to use the White House lawn as the venue for Sunday’s planned UFC mixed martial arts event. Mehta concluded that the plaintiffs likely don’t have legal standing to challenge the event and have failed to prove that they would suffer irreparable harm by the event going forward as planned. The judge also cited the plaintiffs’ “unreasonable delay” in suing to challenge an event that’s been in the works for months.“In the context of an emergency application — and coupled with the fact that the UFC fight date was long ago known — it is fair to say Plaintiffs unreasonably delayed bringing suit, undercutting their claims of irreparable harm,” Mehta wrote. Attorneys from the nonprofit Public Integrity Project sued to challenge Trump’s “UFC Freedom 250” event on behalf of an activist and a Vietnam War veteran. The two plaintiffs also asked the court to block organizers from building anything for the event on White House grounds, including a 92-foot-tall, 600-ton steel structure called The Claw. The plaintiffs’ alleged “aesthetic harms,” the judge noted, are temporary since The Claw will be disassembled starting Monday morning and staging equipment at the Lincoln Memorial must be removed before then. “The President’s musings about permanency of the Claw does not move the dial in the face of a White House official’s clear representation,” the judge wrote. Read More The White House called the lawsuit is a baseless attempt to prevent Trump from hosting an event that’s no different from many others routinely hosted at public forums in the nation’s capital. Trump’s administration can’t issue permits for sporting events on the South Lawn or at the Lincoln Memorial, where UFC fighters planned to hold a press conference in front of fans on Friday, according to plaintiffs’ attorneys. They noted that the event is a privately organized, for-profit business venture, with VIP packages costing millions of dollars. “The President’s administration is granting the UFC an extraordinary business opportunity it may not lawfully grant, and in exchange the UFC is throwing an event at which its leadership, fighters, advertisers, and various celebrities will all pay tribute to the President on his birthday,” plaintiffs’ attorneys wrote. The National Park Service and the Interior Department are named as defendants in the lawsuit. In 2019, during his first term in office, Trump became the first sitting president to attend a UFC show. Trump, a Republican, is a friend of UFC president and CEO Dana White.Mehta was nominated to the bench by President Barack Obama, a Democrat. Mehta has presided over other Trump-related cases, including civil litigation accusing Trump of inciting a mob of his supporters to attack the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021, after he lost the 2020 presidential election to Joe Biden, a Democrat.0 Comments 0 Shares 26 Views 0 Reviews
