SPORTS.YAHOO.COMThe fatherly fingerprints behind Tushar Deshpande's T20 power-hitting revolutionNEW DELHI: Proving naysayers wrong and winning them over has been a hallmark of Indian cricketer Tushar Deshpande's playbook over the years. A Mumbai U-19 coach once questioned Deshpande's potential to represent the national team as a pacer, expressing a lack of faith in his ability to generate pace. The conversation made the 31-year-old cricketer feel depressed. However, Deshpande overcame all the scrutiny regarding his capabilities, representing Team India and leaving a mark in the IPL over the years. The cricketer was once demoted from number 9 to the 11th position by the batting coach of the Mumbai cricket team back in the 2023-24 season. Deshpande responded strongly in the Ranji Trophy quarter-final against Baroda, smashing 123 off 129 in a knock comprising 10 fours and eight sixes. The 31-year-old cricketer recorded the highest individual score by a no. 11 batter in Ranji Trophy history, providing a fitting response. "He thought I wasn't decent enough to bat at the ninth position. It hurt me a lot," said Deshpande during an exclusive interaction with TimesofIndia.com.Batting exploits, all-round destructionRecognised mainly for his bowling in the shortest format, the Mumbai cricketer recently took a significant step towards proving his credentials as a genuine all-rounder, emerging as a game-changer in the Mumbai T20 league. Deshpande smashed the joint third-highest number of sixes (13) in the tournament, recording the third-highest strike rate (188.06) as well. The 31-year-old cricketer recorded the highest strike rate during the 2026 edition in the death overs (219).Deshpande left a significant impact down the order, especially catching the eye with an unbeaten 55 (25b, 6x6), which helped the Maratha Royals post 203 after being reduced to 130/8 at one point. The Royals became the first team in the tournament's history to defend their title, with the 31-year-old cricketer emerging as the top wicket-taker (12 dismissals) as well. While Deshpande always enjoyed natural ability, a lack of opportunities with the bat in the shortest format resulted in this skill set not catching the eye. However, the 31-year-old cricketer took full advantage of the recent IPL 2026 season with RR, fine-tuning his shot selection and skill set under coach Siddhartha Lahiri. Deshpande worked on certain technical aspects, with keen focus towards tweaking the back lift, bat swing, pickup and stance, resulting in further ease while smashing sixes.Big-hitting against SRH boosts confidence"Tushar spent a lot of time working on his batting, practising specific drills. It was necessary to switch from a thought process based on red-ball cricket to the white-ball variant. Tushar smashed three sixes in a match against SRH and became even more conscious about stamping his authority going ahead as an all-rounder," said Lahiri.Deshpande expressed a strong belief in being able to clear any boundary, having played a lot of matches on the maidans of Mumbai, where a lot of power is necessary. The 31-year-old further highlighted the significant backing from his father Uday as a major factor behind this success."I was waiting for an opportunity like the match against SRH where one could face a few balls. The team was in a difficult situation. I hardly got to face six balls in the last four years in the IPL, so the innings against SRH was the chance I was waiting for. The 25(11) gave me a lot of confidence," said Deshpande."My father always told me that I can be the best fast-bowling all-rounder. Those sixes against Eshan Malinga and Praful Hinge convinced me that I can smash any bowler. Everyone is loving my batting but to be honest, my father is not awe-struck because he always knew and believed," he added.'CSK have played key role in limited-overs success'Interestingly, Uday Deshpande played a key role in his son's current success, encouraging Tushar to speak to the team management about more batting opportunities in the Mumbai T20 League."I told him to speak to the coach or the franchise owners, requesting them for a chance to bat at a higher position, which has worked out well. Being able to smash sixes is an ability he has always possessed along with great eyesight, resulting in my confidence. Being a lefty is an added advantage," said the cricketer's father. Uday further hailed CSK and MS Dhoni for their role in developing Deshpande's limited-overs gameplay, stating that they have made a key contribution.'No excuses ever'Discipline and consistency have been key attributes in the 31-year-old cricketer's success, with focus on building overall athleticism. Deshpande hasn't missed a single scheduled session during the last six years while working with strength and conditioning coach Vidhi Sanghvi."You tell him to do something, he will make it happen. There are no excuses ever. I have to actually tell him that, you know, let's take a break. Right from the very start, we've had this one thing that it's all about the process, irrespective of ups and downs," said Sanghvi.Desire to emulate Ben StokesDeshpande's former coach Pravin Amre believes that the cricketer can be a valuable fast-bowling all-rounder for Team India in white-ball cricket, highlighting his enhanced clarity. Amre added that Tushar is certainly well placed to showcase his skills as an all-round performer if handed opportunities. Former Mumbai captain Shishir Hattangadi stated that the 31-year-old cricketer has emerged as a force to reckon, with his experience in IPL resulting in an enhanced ability to find solutions. Hattangadi especially drew the spotlight towards his ability to pick gaps, stating that the selectors will be watching his performances closely.Deshpande expressed a keen desire to emulate Ben Stokes, whom he considers one of his favourite players. "There is no one in Indian cricket who can bowl 145 kmph plus and bat well in the lower order. I think Tushar should be considered for the national team," said the cricketer's father.0 Comments 0 Shares 13 Views 0 Reviews

SPORTS.YAHOO.COMWhy Jaguars rookie can 'surprise' fans during 2026 NFL seasonThe Jacksonville Jaguars were criticized by many draft analysts for their decision to select tight end Nate Boerkircher at pick No. 56 overall. However, Josh Edwards of CBS Sports sees things differently.Edwards put together his list of 10 AFC rookies who could "surprise" fans this season, and among those listed was Boerkircher."Boerkircher is a well-rounded prospect who may have some untapped potential in the pass game," Edwards wrote. "The franchise may be motivated to put him in a position to be successful early, following the discourse over Boerkircher's ranking versus the consensus."Boerkircher was one of the better blocking tight ends in college football last season, but the Jaguars view him as someone who can impact the passing game as well. The team doesn't see Boerkircher's lack of production as a reflection of his abilities; it more so came down to opportunities. With that well-rounded skill set, Boerkircher's presence can free up how the team utilizes Brenton Strange. It also positions the Jaguars to use more two and three-tight-end sets to gain a matchup advantage, while he also adds another layer of unpredictability to the offense with all the different hats he can wear.To truly gauge Boerkircher's impact, you're going to have to look beyond the box score."Boerkircher is changing the offense," offensive coordinator Grant Udinski said. This article originally appeared on Jaguars Wire: NFL analyst believes Jaguars' TE Nate Boerkircher can 'surprise' fans0 Comments 0 Shares 13 Views 0 Reviews

SPORTS.YAHOO.COMEze doesn’t regret penalty miss & happy to take anotherEze doesn’t regret penalty miss & happy to take anotherEberechi Eze has insisted he’ll continue to take penalties for England and Arsenal despite his Champions League final miss, and he doesn’t plan to change his technique.Photo by Michael Regan/Getty Images For Premier LeagueEberechi Eze will be pleased with his debut Arsenal campaign overall, having won the Premier League whilst scoring some vital goals along the way, but the season ended on a sour note as his missed penalty helped Paris Saint-Germain to win the Champions League final shootout.Eze’s penalty record isn’t bad, as he’s scored eight of the 10 he’s taken in normal time for QPR, the England u21s, and Crystal Palace. He’s yet to take one during an Arsenal match, and that’s not likely to change with Viktor Gyokeres around. But with Eze’s latest miss against PSG, he’s only converted one of his three penalties in shootouts. He’d previously scored in a League Cup shootout against Bournemouth, but he missed in the Community Shield against Liverpool last summer.Photo by Carl Recine/Getty ImagesAhead of the World Cup, the question was put to Eze of whether he’d continue to step up in a potential England shootout this summer.“If called upon, for sure. Why wouldn’t I take it?” Eze said. “All the big players have missed big penalties, have experienced these types of moments. I’ve had messages from everyone to speak on those moments.“For me, it’s not something I wish never happened. I’m grateful it happened. I’m going to grow from it, learn from it and move forward.“Football is full of everything and you have to try to accept everything as it is, to enjoy it as much as you can. Playing in a Champions League final is where I want to be, it’s what I want to do. We’ll go for it again next season and if there is a penalty to take then I’ll be there again.”Photo by Justin Setterfield/Getty ImagesAfter missing his Champions League final penalty, there were also questions asked about Eze’s run-up, slow and stuttering. It’s a technique he’s used successfully on a number of occasions in the past, but having now missed two in a row, might he switch it up for the next one?“No, I think I have taken penalties for a long time and it’s part of the journey,” Eze responded when asked.“You have to continue to improve, find new ways to improve. I’m not going to stress too much about it because I know I’m in this position for a reason and all the training behind it.”Photo by Ryan Pierse/Getty Images0 Comments 0 Shares 13 Views 0 Reviews

WWW.LGBTQNATION.COMWhite nationalist called critics “cowards” for not fighting for their beliefs. So they beat him up.Anti-LGBTQ+, anti-immigrant, white nationalist influencer Gregory Moffitt (also known on social media as “Young Bob”) was beaten up while holding a public debate in Manchester, England, last weekend. Video shows Moffitt debating a dark-skinned man with gray dreadlocks while seated at a table in a public outdoor space. The table had a sign that said: “Reform UK must be more radical.” Moffitt’s stance in the debate was that subjects of the British Empire shouldn’t necessarily be welcome in the U.K., Metro UK reported. Related Fox hosts force JD Vance to eat “pickle cake” as part of bizarre anti-gay joke During their discussion, a bystander threw a water bottle at Moffitt, and he turned and said, “All of you who throw water are cowards. You don’t actually want to fight for what you believe in.” A woman replied, “If you wanna fight, I’ll fight you, b**ch.” People laughed and Moffitt replied, “And you’ll go to prison.” Never Miss a Beat Subscribe to our newsletter to stay ahead of the latest LGBTQ+ political news and insights. No discussion.” Moments later, Moffitt confronted bystanders who had been throwing paper wads at him. When the fight broke out, a person held Moffitt by his shirt, while others encircled and started to punch him, eventually sending him to the ground, where they started kicking him. Eventually, a man interceded to keep the attackers off of him. Video footage showed the attackers overturning Moffitt’s stool and camera tripod. He has pledged to continue holding public debates, though he said he plans to bring in extra security. Young Bob, who literally sets up a stall to calmly debate anyone, is again attacked by a gang of invaders today.Anyone celebrating or encouraging this is a coward.Starmer's regime shutting down debate online, and the left shutting it down in public! https://t.co/Qx5mJiBR6O— Tommy Robinson (@TRobinsonNewEra) June 15, 2026 In a June 15 post on X, Moffitt wrote that a group of foreign lads had attacked him, allegedly encouraged by members of the organization Stand Up to Racism. The attack caused him to “pass out halfway through” and not remember what occurred, Moffitt said, though video seems to show him moving soon after being dragged to the ground as well as a moment later, after the attackers fled. Moffitt claimed that police arrived five minutes later but “did nothing to stop the counter-protesters or retrieve the to see what actually happened.” The attack left Moffitt with “a cut and a number of marks on my neck, bruises on my face and the top of my head, and cuts running down my back,” he added, while promising to be checked out at a hospital. Metro reported that his phone was smashed and his banner was stolen. Moffitt also said that his video camera was smashed. Police reportedly arrested three people in connection with the attack. View this post on Instagram A post shared by Young Bob (@youngbobrb) Moffitt was once a member of Turning Point UK, the British offshoot of the U.S. young conservatives organization well-known for its public debates with its now-slain leader, Charlie Kirk. Like Kirk, Moffitt records debates where he takes conservative positions and tells others, “Change my mind.” Moffitt has been praised by other white nationalists like Elon Musk and Tommy Robinson for his advocacy of the so-called remigration movement, which seeks to forcibly deport immigrants and their descendants back to their countries of origin. Moffit has taken anti-LGBTQ+ positions and has previously claimed that his generation is being “sexualized” through “pornographic material,” including drag queens. He claimed, without evidence, that there’s a correlation between children’s exposure to this material and the exploration of their gender identities. “They’re hypersexualizing these children through trans-ing them,” he claimed once while speaking on a right-wing broadcast. “I mean, why would you need to explore your gender identity at such a young age…? It confuses this younger generation into this Marxist illusion.” Subscribe to the LGBTQ Nation newsletter and be the first to know about the latest headlines shaping LGBTQ+ communities worldwide.0 Comments 0 Shares 13 Views 0 Reviews -

SPORTS.YAHOO.COMPinstripe panic? What the Shohei Ohtani blueprint tells us about Aaron Judge's card marketAaron Judge is hurt again. The slugger has a broken rib that has sidelined him for about another month. While fans are waiting for the New York Yankees superstar to return to the lineup, many collectors are wondering if his latest injury will affect the value of his cards. The good news is there is already a blueprint in place on how injuries affect the card values of a generational talent.Look at Shohei Ohtani.Ohtani has done amazing things on the field, hitting home runs with ease and stealing bases to become the first 50/50 player, all the while pitching in between. But he’s been hurt — seriously — at times in his career. Ohtani has had Tommy John surgery twice. And yet, the four-time MVP is still one of the most collectible and valuable baseball players in the card market.Ohtani’s cards did see slight dips in 2018 and 2023, when he had his surgeries. According to Card Ladder, his index dropped from around 1,000 and stayed low (for him) until about 2021.In 2021, he led the league at the All-Star break in home runs, was a contender for the Cy Young and earned his first All-Star selection. Ohtani finished with 46 home runs and won his first of four MVP awards. But after his second Tommy John surgery, Ohtani’s card index did drop slightly again — going from almost 5,000 to a low of 4,091.It’s only skyrocketed since, with Ohtani’s current Card Ladder Index sitting at 37,597.That brings us to Judge, a three-time MVP and the American League home run record holder. He has also led the league in WAR in three of the last four seasons. And he's had just as many injuries as Ohtani, but hasn’t had to miss as much time. If you’re worried about Judge’s card values, you don’t have to. Ohtani’s card values have shown the path Judge’s will likely take. Judge cards may take a dip while he’s on the IL, but once he’s back, collectors should expect his cards to see another bump. And if Judge could ever get a ring? There’s no telling how high his card values will get.0 Comments 0 Shares 13 Views 0 Reviews

SPORTS.YAHOO.COMThe 2026 World Cup officially arrived on Tuesday with Messi, Mbappé and Haaland each making a star turnOnly Lionel Messi could have one-upped Kylian Mbappé and Erling Haaland on Tuesday. After Mbappe scored two second-half goals in France’s 3-1 win over Senegal and Haaland matched him with two goals of his own in Norway’s win over Iraq, Messi scored the first World Cup hat trick of his career in Argentina’s 3-0 win over Algeria to officially make the sixth day of the 2026 World Cup the most exciting yet.Sure, Monday’s fixtures delivered four ties for the first time in 66 years as Cape Verde got a 0-0 draw with Spain. But let’s be real, ties are not the most appetizing outcome for American sports fans. We love stars having star-like performances. And all three of soccer’s biggest names playing Tuesday showed why they are among the best players in the world. For a brief time, Mbappé moved ahead of Messi on the all-time World Cup goals list when he added the 13th and 14th goals of his career. After Senegal appeared to add some late drama by cutting France’s lead to 2-1, Mbappé quickly quashed any and all hope of Senegal stealing point with an absolutely incredible strike that seemed to come out of nowhere.Just look at his conviction on where he was placing the ball. He immediately knew where to beat goalkeeper Édouard Mendy and wasn’t even looking at the goal when he hit the ball. The goal sealed all three points for France in a second half that showed why it’s the most dangerous attacking team in the world with reigning Ballon d’Or winner Ousmane Dembelé and breakout star Michael Olise operating alongside Mbappé up front.Haaland needed just 29 minutes to score his first World Cup goal in his first World Cup game in Norway’s 4-1 win. Haaland added a second in the 43rd minute and now has an astonishing 57 goals in 51 appearances for his country.Oh, he’s just 25 years old, too.Since joining Manchester City in 2022, Haaland has become Mbappé’s chief rival for best striker in the world. He scored 36 goals in 35 Premier League games his first season with City, and has 112 goals over 132 games in what’s considered the best domestic league in the world. On June 26, Mbappé’s France and Haaland’s Norway will square off in the final round of Group I games. It’s not only will be a game that can serve as a head-to-head referendum on each player’s attacking prowess. It may also determine who wins the group. But just about an hour after Haaland’s game concluded, Messi, at 38, reminded both of them why he’s been the best player this century — and maybe ever — with one of his best games ever for Argentina.Messi’s 14th, 15th and 16th World Cup goals tied him with Miroslave Klose for the all-time World Cup lead. That 16th goal was absolute brilliance, as he slowed to create space between himself and Algeria’s defense before slicing a shot through four defenders and past goalkeeper Luca Zidane. It was also a sign that the defending World Cup champions are still so reliant on their legendary playmaker. And how he seems more than able to carry that burden again as Argentina seeks to become the first team since Pelé’s Brazil in 1958 and 1962 to win back-to-back World Cups.0 Comments 0 Shares 13 Views 0 Reviews

SPORTS.YAHOO.COMOfficial | Marseille handed suspended Europa League exclusion and €10m fine over UEFA settlement breachOfficial | Marseille handed suspended Europa League exclusion and €10m fine over UEFA settlement breachOlympique de Marseille have been handed a suspended Europa League exclusion as well as a hefty €10m fine by UEFA after breaching their settlement agreement with the federation. UEFA’s First Chamber of the Club Financial Control Body has stated that Les Phocéens “did not fulfil the final target of the settlement agreement as it failed to comply with the football earnings rule in 2025/26 season.”UEFA have also noted the significant and unexpected collapse of the domestic broadcasting revenues affecting Ligue 1. Taking this into account and given Marseille’s limited extent of the breach, OM have been hit with an exclusion from the next one UEFA club competition – in Marseille’s case, the Europa League – for which the club would otherwise qualify in the next three season, unless the club complies with the football earnings in the next season.Marseille will also be restricted in their ability to register new players on the UEFA competitions’ List A. They have also been hit with two fines that amount to €10m.GFFN | Bastien Cheval0 Comments 0 Shares 13 Views 0 Reviews

SPORTS.YAHOO.COMWorld Cup 2026: Ivory Coast forward Elye Wahi arrested for alleged spot-fixing offensesIvory Coast forward Elye Wahi was arrested in May for engaging in alleged spot-fixing offenses, according to The Athletic. Wahi was arrested by French police on May 29 after suspicious betting patterns emerged when Wahi’s Ligue 1 team, Nice, took on Metz on May 17. An investigation into Wahi’s actions began after the Ligue de Football Professionnel (LFP) noticed several bets were placed on Wahi receiving a yellow card during the match. That practice, in which a player allegedly manipulates a specific outcome in a game, is known as spot-fixing. The LFP is “the governing body that runs the domestic game in France,” per The Athletic.Wahi did receive a yellow card during the contest, which ended in a 0-0 draw. His yellow card came in the 35th minute after a tackle on Metz defender Sadibou Sane. Wahi was also involved in another questionable challenge prior to that foul, though did not receive a yellow card for that interaction.Days before that match, it was announced that Wahi made Ivory Coast’s World Cup roster. He played in the team’s first match Sunday, a 1-0 win over Ecuador. Wahi played 56 minutes in the game, registering two shots on goal. Though he was arrested, Wahi has yet to be charged with a crime. Because of that, he was allowed to travel to the United States to take part in the World Cup. It’s unclear whether FIFA was aware of Wahi’s arrests, or the allegations against him, prior to the start of the 2026 World Cup. The Athletic reached out to Wahi, Ivory Coat and FIFA about the situation.Following their 1-0 win over Ecuador, Ivory Coast’s next match is set to come against Germany on Saturday. Wahi’s status for that contest could be up in the air depending on how FIFA decides to handle the allegations against the forward.0 Comments 0 Shares 12 Views 0 Reviews

SPORTS.YAHOO.COMIvory Coast’s World Cup star Elye Wahi ‘arrested over match-fixing offences’Ivory Coast star Elye Wahi was reportedly arrested less than two weeks before the World Cup on suspicion of match-fixing offences.A report in The Athletic details that 23-year-old Wahi is the subject of an “active investigation” to establish whether the forward deliberately earned a yellow card while playing for Nice against Metz in Ligue 1 on 17 May. The report adds that Wahi, who started Ivory Coast’s 1-0 win against Ecuador on Sunday night, was subsequently arrested by French police on 29 May and was released after an interview. A spokesperson for Marseille public prosecutor’s office said: “We can confirm that a 23-year-old football player, competing in France’s Ligue 1, was arrested on May 29 as part of an investigation opened by the Marseille public prosecutor’s office into allegations of organized fraud, organized sports corruption, handling of proceeds of crime and money laundering.“He was released after he was interviewed in police custody. The investigations remain ongoing. The football player is not a member of the French selection taking part in the World Cup.”The Independent has approached Fifa, the Ivorian Football Association and Wahi’s representatives for comment. An investigation was opened after the Ligue de Football Professionnel (LFP), who run French domestic football, received notifications of suspicious betting patterns involving Wahi receiving a yellow card during Nice’s game against Metz, which ended 0-0. Wahi received a yellow card in the 35th minute for a tackle on Metz’s Sadibou Sane. He also committed a foul two minutes earlier after a slide tackle on Bouna Sarr. Wahi, 23, scored twice to help Nice stay in Ligue 1 on 29 May. Later that day, he was arrested by French police (Reuters)Wahi’s yellow card was his fifth of the season, which ruled him out of Nice’s relegation play-off first leg against Saint-Etienne. That ended goalless before Wahi returned to score twice in a 4-1 win in the second leg on 29 May. Later that day, he was arrested by anti-corruption officers in the French police. As things stand, Wahi has not been charged with any crime and travelled to the United States for Ivory Coast’s World Cup campaign. The striker only switched allegiance to the African country from France, whom he represented at youth level, in March. Wahi played 55 minutes in the win against Ecuador, hitting the bar just before being substituted. Ivory Coast’s next game is against Germany on Saturday night before their final Group E clash against Curacao next Thursday.0 Comments 0 Shares 12 Views 0 Reviews

WWW.LGBTQNATION.COMJD Vance runs to Fox News to complain about Whoopi Goldberg asking him about racismThe vice president appeared on both The View and Fox News yesterday to promote his book about religion. On The View, co-host Whoopi Goldberg asked him about racism in the Trump administration, and he acted like he didn’t know what she was talking about. Then, while on Fox News, he said that she accused him of being racist, which she didn’t do. “What have Black people done to this administration that has allowed it to really stigmatize folks of color?” Goldberg asked on The View. Related Whoopi Goldberg celebrates her lesbian friends when asked about her sexuality “You know how hard it is, you have folks of color in your family, so when you see, you know things, the Emmett Till stuff coming down, or them doing all kinds of removal of information of Black heroes, how does that sit with you?” Goldberg continued. She was referring to how the administration is removing and rewriting historical exhibitions across the country to remove references to slavery and racism, a move that stems from an executive order and has already resulted in at least one lawsuit. “What are you exactly talking about, Whoopi? Emmett Till wasn’t-” Vance said, and the audience audibly groaned. Never Miss a Beat Subscribe to our newsletter to stay ahead of the latest LGBTQ+ political news and insights. Co-host Sunny Hostin stepped in to try to explain to Vance that Goldberg is asking about “Black history getting erased from public spaces, Black voter districts are being dismantled, Black leaders are being sidelined from our ranks. Where do Americans of color fit in this vision, because it doesn’t seem like we fit?” “You say that we’re anti-minority, right?” Vance told Goldberg, and she said that she didn’t. Don’t start any stuff with me, man. Don’t get me in trouble.” But Vance decided to just deny the administration’s actions instead of explaining them: “Black history is not erased from public spaces, that is not right.” “I’m telling you we celebrate Black history, we celebrate all American history in this administration.” While Vance remained polite on The View, he went to Fox News’ Gutfeld! to complain about Goldberg and Hostin. “I expected them to be absolutely vicious, and they were only a little bit vicious,” he said. Vance: I thought Sunny, the woman to my left, was going to call me racist. In reality, it was Whoopi, the woman to my right, that called me racist. Expectations defied. pic.twitter.com/yO1CHiU9lF— Acyn (@Acyn) June 17, 2026 “I thought that Sunny, the woman to my left, was going to call me a racist. In reality, it was Whoopi, the woman to my right, who called me a racist. So expectations were defied,” he said, even though Goldberg did not call him racist. Host Greg Gutfeld then said that Hostin can’t call Vance racist because “her ancestors were slaveowners,” referring to her appearance on Finding Your Roots several years ago, when she found out that some of her ancestors from Puerto Rico likely owned slaves. Vance didn’t challenge Gutfeld’s bizarre assertion that people whose ancestors owned slaves can’t oppose racism today. Whole-brain imaging in larval zebrafish (Danio rerio) reveals a dedicated neural circuit that governs history-biased decisions: the thalamus maintains the most recent event as a stable pattern of neuronal activity, and the brainstem integrates recent experiences into a continuous signal that biases future action.0 Comments 0 Shares 12 Views 0 Reviews -

SPORTS.YAHOO.COMOhio State Buckeyes projected to land nation’s No. 1 recruit Jett HarrisonNo program has had more success recruiting elite receivers than Ohio State, and the Buckeyes don’t appear to be slowing down. Despite losing receivers coach and offensive coordinator Brian Hartline this offseason to the head coaching job at USF, they are still drawing the attention of the country’s top wideouts. Five-star 2027 commit Jamier Brown has been pledged to OSU since November 2024 and has no plans to look around. The country’s No. 2 wideout, Monshun Sales, has the Buckeyes among his top schools with Indiana, Alabama, LSU and Texas. And in 2028, they’re in an even better position. On Wednesday, Rivals national expert Steve Wiltfong logged a prediction for OSU to land five-star Jett Harrison, the No. 1 recruit in the Rivals300 and the brother of former Buckeyes star Marvin Harrison Jr.The St. Joseph’s Prep (Pa.) star is also the son of NFL Hall of Famer Marvin Harrison, but has established himself as more than just his relation to his brother and father. “He is a dominant wide receiver prospect with an elite combination of ball skills and route-running ability as an underclassman prospect,” Charles Power, Rivals Director of Scouting and Rankings, wrote this spring. “Harrison had added size and is listed around 6-foot-1, 175 pounds. He sets the pace in what looks to be a very strong wide receiver cycle nationally in 2028. Not only does he possess a large catch radius, coming down with ridiculous catches on a regular basis, but he high-points and tracks the football at a high level. He is polished route-runner with the ability to separate with his change of direction. Harrison exploded as a sophomore, hauling in 15 touchdown passes, including a four-touchdown outing against national power St. Frances Academy.” Buckeyes not just the legacy school for Jett HarrisonHarrison has been largely quiet about his recruiting process, but has drawn major interest from Ohio State, Oregon, USC, and Oregon. Signs right now point to the Buckeyes keeping the family legacy alive, but Harrison tells Rivals’ Chad Simmons it is not simply because his brother went there.“My brother told me not to go to Ohio State just because he went there,” Harrison said this week. “Be yourself and go where you can see yourself. If I go to Ohio State, it won’t be because of him. This decision will be about what I feel is best for me.”0 Comments 0 Shares 12 Views 0 Reviews

SPORTS.YAHOO.COMPatriots Insider Thinks Christian Gonzalez Situation Could Drag Into Training CampPatriots Insider Thinks Christian Gonzalez Situation Could Drag Into Training Camp originally appeared on NESN. Add NESN as a Preferred Source by clicking here. The New England Patriots are reportedly working on an extension for Christian Gonzalez, but it may be a while before a deal gets done.Gonzalez was absent from voluntary OTAs and was a limited participant in mandatory minicamp. He did individual work, but did not partake in any team drills. He reassured his desire to stay with the Patriots during minicamp, but noted that it was up to the team and his representation to get a deal done.According to Patriots insider Greg Bedard, fans should not expect any update until training camp. Bedard noted that the Patriots may be planning to see where things stand when training camp starts, and if that's the case, Gonzalez's hold-in could drag into training camp."What I've heard is I would not expect any sort of update until training camp, and I think that's where I think the Patriots are," Bedard said on CLNS on Tuesday. "It's sort of like a shrug and say, 'We'll see where we are at training camp.' If that's the case, I think it's going to drag into training camp."Gonzalez showed up to mandatory minicamp, so he may still show up to training camp and just withhold from team activities. Gonzalez is one of the best corners in the game, and he has earned a payday. The only question is whether the Patriots are ready to make him one of the highest-paid corners in the league. The team has already expressed interest in keeping him around, but clearly, there is a gap in negotiations. Otherwise, a deal would have been done by now.More NFL: New Photo Reveals A.J. Brown's Locker Buddy At New Patriots Facility0 Comments 0 Shares 12 Views 0 Reviews

SPORTS.YAHOO.COMWho might Bucks draft? From mocks, here are 5 players and their impactWith one week to go before the June 23 NBA Draft, the Milwaukee Bucks have a wildly uncertain plight, given the machinations surrounding a possible Giannis Antetokounmpo trade. Will they still have the No. 10 pick when that night begins? Will they have multiple picks? Will they have entirely different needs than they do now?A glance at the most recent mock drafts from major sports media outlets offer a series of avenues the Bucks could take:Labaron Philon Jr., guard, AlabamaMatt Norlander, CBS Sports: "This is the top end of Philon's range (with No. 22 probably being the worst-case scenario), but I'm going bullish on the Bama sophomore due to his blitzing speed, devilish playmaking and nothing-loath mindset as a passer. He's slender but draws contact and jumps from third gear to fifth gear in a blip. Can score at all three levels, and probably will benefit from a pro scheme to emphasize his spacing acuity. Milwaukee has shown serious interest, but given the uncertainty with the franchise's pick depending on what happens with Giannis, this draft slot is as foggy as any you'll find in the lottery. Philon would inject some fun into a franchise transitioning toward a new era."Three picks before: Keaton Wagler, Illinois; Aday Mara, Michigan; Kingston Flemings, HoustonThree picks after: Yaxel Lendeborg, Michigan; Nate Ament, Tennessee; Brayden Burries, ArizonaNate Ament, forward, TennesseeJeremy Woo, ESPN: "Ament's draft range has remained on the wider side. The Nets at No. 6 are seen as the realistic high end, but scenarios are also in play in which he falls into the second half of the lottery. Teams say he has been selective about scheduling workouts, declining to visit multiple teams in the top 10. From a best-available perspective, Ament should be in play for the Bucks."What strategy Milwaukee takes could depend on how many picks it winds up with and where, but the Bucks have an obvious need for backcourt talent and also could target a guard. They are also familiar with the next tier of point guards, including Christian Anderson and Labaron Philon Jr., and could address the position later in the draft if they acquire additional picks."Three picks before: Mikel Brown Jr., Louisville; Flemings; BurriesThree picks after: Mara; Lendeborg; Morez Johnson, MichiganKingston Flemings, guard, HoustonKevin O'Connor, Yahoo! Sports: "The Bucks should take a swing to jump start their new era, whether or not Giannis is part of it. Flemings could be that type of bet since he plays with surgical midrange touch, an explosive first step and the passing vision of a true point guard who can run an offense. But Flemings is also 183 pounds and midrange-heavy in a 3-point league, and he watched his efficiency crater against the stiffest competition late in the season. The question is whether his scoring package translates against NBA length and spacing, or whether opposing scouts figure him out the same way late-season defenses did. Still, he brings incredible effort and passion to the floor and will likely maximize whatever he's going to become."Three picks before: Wagler; Burries; Karim López, New ZealandThree picks after: Mara; Lendeborg; Hannes Steinbach, WashingtonAday Mara, center, MichiganBryan Kalbrosky, USA TODAY: "While leading his team to win the NCAA championship, Aday Mara became one of the prospects who helped himself the most during March Madness. The 7-foot-3 big man, who transferred from UCLA, is a fantastic rim protector. Opponents only attempted 20.4 percent of their field goals at the rim when the Big Ten Defensive Player of the Year was on the court, per CBB Analytics, which ranks near the lowest among all NCAA players. He could potentially hear his name called even higher than this, too, as teams look for large defenders like Mara (who measured with a 9-foot-9 standing reach) as front offices value bigger bodies to throw at Victor Wembanyama."Three picks before: Darius Acuff Jr., Arkansas; Burries; FlemingsThree picks after: López; Ament; SteinbachMikel Brown Jr., guard, LouisvilleSam Vecenie, The Athletic: "The Bucks have certainly been doing due diligence into the lead guards, including Flemings, Anderson, Labaron Philon Jr. and Brown. I’ve also heard Hannes Steinbach’s name as an option here. But with the potential for Giannis Antetokounmpo’s departure, it makes sense for the Bucks to go with as high an upside swing as possible. Brown is a dynamic playmaker with the ball who can play in ball screens, make high-level passing reads and shoot. However, his decision-making can be questionable at times while trying to hit home runs, and his scoring inside of 15 feet has left some scouts with questions."Three picks before: Flemings; Mara; BurriesThree picks after: Lendeborg; Ament; SteinbachThis article originally appeared on Milwaukee Journal Sentinel: Five mock NBA drafts pick five different players for Bucks0 Comments 0 Shares 12 Views 0 Reviews
