Manchester United secures 25-acre land for new 100,000-seat stadium
Manchester United has acquired a 25-acre site to develop a new stadium with a capacity of 100,000 seats, which would make it the largest sporting venue in the UK. The site has been purchased from Indurent, a Blackstone portfolio company specialising in industrial spaces. According to a statement from the Premier League club, the site is situated approximately 350m north-west of the club’s existing Old Trafford stadium. Manchester United, which is co-owned by the Glazer family and Sir Jim Ratcliffe, has described the land acquisition as an important development in its broader plan to modernise the Old Trafford area. Old Trafford, which has been the home of Manchester United since 1910, has a seating capacity of 74,879. Manchester United’s New Stadium Development CEO Collette Roche said: “Today’s news highlights the progress we’re making towards a world-class new home for Manchester United and represents a significant milestone as we move into the next phase of development. “Being able to build so close to Old Trafford allows us to preserve the heritage, traditions and rituals that are so important to our fans. We are committed to building a world-class stadium with our supporters, not just for them, with atmosphere, affordability and accessibility at the heart of our thinking.” The purchase forms part of broader regeneration efforts for the district, with plans expected to spur the creation of thousands of new homes, jobs and additional economic activity. Manchester United reported that it is directly engaging with the businesses affected by the development to assist them during the period of transition. Collaborations with Trafford Council and the Old Trafford Regeneration Mayoral Development Corporation (OTRMDC) are ongoing, aiming to align the stadium’s placement with the wider district strategy and to ensure connectivity and the best possible experience for spectators. The broader regeneration area encompasses approximately 370 acres. According to the club statement, the initiative is projected to deliver around 15,000 new homes, including affordable options. It is also expected to contribute over £7bn annually to the national economy, while supporting the creation of 48,000 local jobs and more than 90,000 roles nationwide. Further details about the stadium site and consultation process are expected when the OTRMDC outlines its regeneration vision on 9 July. Best NBA fits for Arkansas basketball's Darius Acuff, Meleek Thomas, Trevon Brazile
The immediate futures for three Arkansas basketball stars will be determined in the next 48 hours. The 2026 NBA Draft begins tonight (June 23) in Brooklyn. Darius Acuff Jr., Meleek Thomas and Trevon Brazile should all represent the Razorbacks as selections over the next two days.Acuff will likely get picked inside the top 10, and there's a good chance Thomas joins him as another first-round pick under coach John Calipari. Brazile is forecasted to hear his name called at some point in the second round, according to a consensus of recent mock drafts. But which teams are the best fits? Here's our pick for which pro team is best suited to develop the three future Pro Hogs. Darius Acuff Jr. - Sacramento Kings, No. 7The Kings haven't had much success in recent years. They've made the playoffs once since 2006 and had to watch a former player (De'Aaron Fox) and former coach (Mike Brown) take center stage during this month's NBA Finals. Arkansas fans probably won't want to see Acuff go to Sacramento based on its track record of failing to develop its own talent, but the point guard from Detroit has never shied away from betting on himself. ESPN recently reported in a recent mock draft that there is mutual interest between the Kings and Acuff's camp. However, there's a glaring hole at the point guard position on the roster, while Acuff would face a log jam with the Clippers or Nets. Those two teams precede the Kings in the draft order. Sacramento as a city is hungry for a superstar to rally behind, and it feels like a safe bet Acuff would get handed the keys to the franchise. Meleek Thomas - Dallas Mavericks, No. 30 Dallas shook up the basketball world by luring head coach Dusty May away from Michigan on Monday. The reigning national champion sees a Mavericks team budding with potential behind last year's No. 1 pick, Cooper Flagg. In Dallas, Thomas could learn under the apprenticeship of future Hall of Famer Klay Thompson. He would also be given time to develop with offensive pieces like Flagg and Kyrie Irving already in place. The Dallas roster needs shooting, and younger legs. Thomas would answer both of those deficiencies and could become an ace off-ball scorer to compliment Flagg down the road if he becomes a better ball-handler and finisher at the rim.Trevon Brazile - Miami Heat, No. 41Few teams in the NBA have a better track record of developing their own talent than the Heat, who made a run to the Finals with undrafted players serving major roles in 2023.Brazile could be the latest project for Pat Riley's front office, and there's an intriguing frontcourt fit alongside Bam Adebayo. Brazile could provide the floor spacing and defense Miami typically craves from its power forward next to Adebayo. He's already 23 years old, but Brazile could carve out a long professional career thanks to his length, athleticism and switchability on defense. He just needs to land somewhere with a strong defensive center.Jackson Fuller covers Arkansas football, basketball and baseball for the Southwest Times Record, part of the USA TODAY Network. Taking Wing: Jake Bloss
Mar 5, 2025; Bradenton, Florida, USA; Toronto Blue Jays pitcher Jake Bloss (39) throws a pitch during the fourth inning against the Pittsburgh Pirates at LECOM Park. Mandatory Credit: Kim Klement Neitzel-Imagn Images | Kim Klement Neitzel-Imagn Images Today’s subject is in kind of an unusual spot as regards his prospect status. Bloss actually debuted two years ago, and as he turns 25 today (Happy Birthday, Jake) he’s on the fringes of what’s typically considered prospect eligibility. He’s also coming back from Tommy John surgery, which has eaten up the last 14 months for him when he would normally have been breaking into the MLB rotation. All that means the excitement about him is a little muted for a former top 100 prospect on the cusp of the majors. We ranked him as the system’s #6 prospect coming into the season, and he’s undoubtedly a key part of the organization’s medium term hopes, but right at this minute the buzz is lacking. He’s back at AAA as of last week, though, and given the state of the back of the Jays’ rotation he might become a factor of the big league club soon if he looks up to the challenge. His rehab outing Statcast data offers some immediate intrigue. Last time we saw Bloss for a full season, in 2024, his four seamer sat 92-95 and touched 96. It’s a small sample size, with only 95 heaters tracked (we only have public StatCast data for his three appearances with A Dunedin and one with AAA Buffalo), but since coming back he’s sitting 95.8mph and regularly cresting 97. His hardest single pitch in 2024 was equivalent to his average in 2026, and he hasn’t thrown a pitch classified as a four seamer this season as slow as his average from the earlier year. There were hints before he went down with the elbow injury last year that he was taking a step forward with his velocity, but what we’re seeing right now is a big leap. The pitch was already considered to be above average in spite of middling velocity because Bloss gets great extension and generates a lot of backspin and vertical carry. That’s all preserved, so if he maintains most of the velocity gain as he gets fully stretched out his fastball has improved from solid to an easy plus pitch. His sinker appears to have made the same gains, going from 93.3mph to 95.0. He’s spinning both fastballs harder by about 80rpm, which has preserved their total movement in spite of the velocity bump (slower pitches break more because they have more time to accelerate in whatever direction their spin is taking them before reaching the plate). He also seems to have made changes to his secondaries. His changeup has gotten harder, but by only 1.3mph (87.2 up to 88.5mph), and he’s actually gotten better at killing the spin on the pitch, reducing the rotation by 100rpm. The result is that it has more drop and a bigger velocity gap off the fastball. The slider, like the fastballs, has picked up about 2mph and about 100rpm, breaking harder to cover the same distance in less time. His curveball, interestingly, hasn’t seen the same gains in spin rate but is now almost 2.5mph harder, leading to less glove side break and a slightly more up and down shape. There have been the hiccoughs with command that you’d expect from a guy coming back from surgery, and he’s still only partially stretched out. Bloss probably won’t be ready for the majors for a few weeks yet. The leap his stuff has taken during his rehab creates reason to be excited for him when he arrives, though.

Barcelona close to signing South American wonderkid compared to Nuno Mendes
Barcelona close to signing South American wonderkid compared to Nuno MendesBarcelona’s search for emerging talent continues to stretch far beyond Europe, and the club now appears close to securing another promising addition for the future. The Catalan giants have significantly increased their scouting activity across South America in recent years, identifying young players who can strengthen the club’s development structure while also becoming valuable long-term assets. That strategy has already led Barcelona to several exciting prospects, and another name now seems to be moving closer to Camp Nou.According to Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona are advancing in negotiations to sign highly-rated Ecuadorian youngster Josue Caicedo from LDU Quito.Barcelona closing in on Ecuadorian prospectBarcelona’s recruitment department has been paying close attention to youth football in Ecuador, with scouts regularly monitoring some of the country’s most promising talents. One club that attracted particular interest was LDU Quito, where Barcelona identified two players who stood out during their evaluations, namely, Josue Caicedo and Ederson Castillo.View this post on InstagramA post shared by El Scouter Youth 🕵️‍♂️ (@elscouteryouth)Both youngsters have progressed through the Ecuadorian club’s youth system and have already gained valuable experience at the senior level despite their young age. They have also featured in high-level competitions, including the Copa Libertadores, giving them exposure to demanding environments early in their careers.Among the two prospects, Caicedo has emerged as Barcelona’s primary target. The 18-year-old originally developed as a winger but has successfully adapted to a deeper role and now operates primarily as a left-back. That positional versatility is one of the qualities that caught the attention of Barcelona’s scouting network.View this post on InstagramA post shared by Josue Caicedo (@josue_caice19)The club now appears close to finalising an agreement that would initially bring the player to Catalonia on loan. Why Barcelona are excited about CaicedoThe report suggests that Barcelona’s sporting department sees significant upside in the Ecuadorian defender. On that note, Barcelona are working on a deal that would include a purchase option worth around €2.5 million, giving the club flexibility while allowing them to continue assessing his progress. One of the most notable descriptions emerging from scouting reports concerns his athletic qualities. Those who have followed his development reportedly view him as a player with outstanding stamina and the ability to cover large areas of the pitch throughout a match, a profile that has even drawn comparisons to Paris Saint-Germain left-back Nuno Mendes.

NBA mock draft 2026: Will Purdue basketball's Braden Smith, Pike's Ryan Conwell be selected?
Braden Smith became the NCAA assists record over four seasons with Purdue basketball. The 2022 Indiana Mr. Basketball from Westfield High School finished his Boilermakers career with 1,932 points, 1,103 assists, 673 rebounds and 249 steals, and he was a consensus All-American his final two seasons. That's too much production for the NBA to ignore, right?Smith's height — or lack of it — works against him. NBA teams don't often spend draft picks on players listed at 6-foot, and he was measured at 5-10 1/4 at the NBA Combine.Final NBA mock drafts see Smith as a solid second-round pick. Another likely second-round pick is Pike High School alum Ryan Conwell. Other possibilities include Purdue's Trey Kaufman-Renn and Butler's Michael Ajayi. Will the Pacers get involved?: Indiana free agency targets, trade rumors and top targetsWill Braden Smith be picked in the 2026 NBA Draft?Kevin O'Connor, Yahoo: 43rd, by the Brooklyn Nets"Smith left Purdue as the NCAA's all-time assists leader, breaking a 33-year-old record. He's arguably the highest-IQ player in the draft who could orchestrate an offense at the college level while also providing scoring off the bounce. But the issue is the one every 5-10 guard faces: he isn't a plus athlete, and bigger guards are going to hunt him the moment he steps on an NBA floor. That's precisely why he is a projected second-rounder and will need to work his way up."Sam Vecenie, The Athletic: 39th, by the Houston RocketsJeremy Woo, ESPN: 35th, by the San Antonio SpursKrysten Peek, Hoops HQ: 50th, by the Toronto RaptorsWill Ryan Conwell be picked in the 2026 NBA Draft?Conwell, a 6-2 guard, played one season each at South Florida, Louisville, Xavier and Louisville, scoring 1,991 total points and making 37.6% of his 3-pointers. He earned all-conference honors in three leagues. The Ringer: 26th, by the Denver Nuggets"This spot may seem high for Conwell, but his name has come up consistently in hypotheticals where the defensive-leaning rotation bigs are off the table. So I could see the Nuggets taking the sturdily built and skilled guard who fits their system perfectly. He’s a quick-triggered movement shooter from 3, as well as an exceptional cutter. Conwell also played in offenses that ran through talented passing big men at every stop of his college career, so he’s practically lab-designed to be a role player for Nikola Jokic."O'Connor: 38th, by the Chicago Bulls"Conwell's college career took him from South Florida to Indiana State to Xavier, and then to Louisville, and he got better at every stop. By the end of his senior year he was the leading scorer for the Cardinals at 18.8 points per game. He's a stocky 6-2 lefty with broad shoulders, no real first step, and exactly one dunk in four years of college basketball. But he's a knockdown shooter with deep range and a bruiser at the rim who absorbs contact like a fullback. The question is whether the climb continues at the next level, when he can't muscle his way to the cup or shoot over the top of smaller defenders the way he could in college."Vecenie: 33rd, by the Brooklyn NetsPeek: 42nd, by the San Antonio SpursWill Trey Kaufman-Renn be picked in the 2026 NBA Draft? The 6-9 big man scored 1,655 points with 762 rebounds over four seasons at Purdue. From peace talks to Pennsylvania: Trump visiting Mack Truck facility
President Donald Trump speaks in the Oval Office of the White House during an executive order signing about quantum computing, Monday, June 22, 2026, in Washington. (AP Photo/Jacquelyn Martin)2026-06-23T04:08:48Z President Donald Trump is going to a Mack Truck facility in a battleground district in swing state Pennsylvania Tuesday, shifting attention to the U.S. economy in his first major public event beyond the capital since he signed an interim agreement to end the Iran war. Trump’s trip to the Allentown-area business comes as he works to try to put the conflict — and the higher gasoline prices it caused — in the rearview mirror as November midterm elections draw closer. It’s the president’s fifth second-term visit to Pennsylvania, a key state whose support in 2016 and 2024 helped him to the White House. The Macungie, Pennsylvania, facility is in the 7th Congressional District, where incumbent Republican Rep. Ryan Mackenzie faces Democratic challenger Bob Brooks in November. The visit comes amid rising prices that could color the verdict voters render on Trump’s stewardship in the fall. About one-third of U.S. adults approved of Trump’s approach to the economy, according to a June Associated Press-NORC Center for Public Affairs Research poll. That’s in line with last month for Trump on the issue. The Iran war, which began Feb. 28, has also been a politically difficult issue for the president. Most Americans continued to disapprove of his handling of Iran, according to the June AP-NORC poll, which was being fielded as Trump announced a tentative deal with Iran and concluded just before the interim agreement was signed last week. It found about two-thirds, 65%, of U.S. adults disapprove of how the president is handling issues with Iran, unchanged from May. Still, while most Democrats and independents view Trump’s actions negatively, only about 3 in 10 of Republicans are unhappy. Read More Support from districts like the one he’s visiting Tuesday are pivotal to Republicans holding narrow control of the House, where a loss could hobble the president’s final two years in office. Mackenzie, a freshman lawmaker, is looking to hold onto a district Democrats have targeted to flip. Brooks, president of the state firefighters’ union, has support from Democratic Gov. Josh Shapiro, who’s also seeking reelection this year. Trump’s predecessor, Democrat Joe Biden, also visited the Mack Truck facility to highlight regulations aimed at promoting manufacturing jobs. Manufacturing employment peaked in 1979 at nearly 19.6 million jobs. It trended downward after the 2001 recession and the 2007-09 Great Recession. The figure now stands at 12.6 million as of May, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics. The visits underscore Pennsylvania’s status as a crucial swing state. Trump visited Mount Pocono in December to road test messages that he’s addressing affordability; in July 2025, he was in Pittsburgh to tout tens of billions of dollars of recent energy and technology investments in the state; in June 2025, he was in West Mifflin to tell steelworkers he was doubling the tariff on steel imports to protect the industry; and in March 2025 he attended the NCAA wrestling championship in Philadelphia. Belgium sit third on two points after two draws and desperately need a win to have any realistic hope of advancing, while New Zealand, bottom on one point, require victory or a favourable combination of results to survive. Egypt lead the group on four points, meaning a Belgium win here would lift them level with Egypt going into the final calculation, provided other results cooperate.VerdictBelgium are expected to find their attacking rhythm at last against the weakest side in Group G, making the away win the standout selection at 2/9. The best available price on Over 3 Goals at 1/1 also represents fair value given New Zealand’s defensive vulnerabilities and the pressure on Belgium to score freely.New Zealand vs Belgium Match PreviewNew Zealand face their sternest test yet in Group G, having already been beaten 3-1 by Egypt and having managed only a 2-2 draw against Iran. Manager M. Mayne’s side qualified through the intercontinental play-off as representatives of the OFC confederation, and while a first-ever World Cup win remains the aim, the task against a Belgium side carrying serious European pedigree is formidable. Belgium, managed by R. Garcia, have been surprisingly toothless in their opening two games, drawing 1-1 with Egypt and then holding 0-0 against Iran, and they cannot afford another slip. The stakes could not be clearer for Belgium. Two draws from two means Garcia’s squad sit third in Group G, and only a win here keeps their last-16 ambitions alive. The pressure to perform finally, against a New Zealand side that has conceded five goals in two games, should unlock the Belgian attack that looked so sharp in pre-tournament friendlies. A 5-0 win over Tunisia and a 2-0 victory against Croatia in the build-up showed what this squad is capable of when confidence is high.New Zealand’s best moment of the tournament came in the 2-2 draw with Iran, where Elijah Just scored twice to earn a point. The All Whites showed they can trouble opponents going forward, but the 3-1 defeat to Egypt exposed fragility at the back. Against Belgium’s calibre of attacking player, further defensive problems look probable. New Zealand need to be clinical on the counter if they are to threaten an upset result.Team FormNew Zealand – Last 5Egypt (H, World Cup): Lost 1-3Iran (A, World Cup): Drew 2-2England (N, Friendly): Lost 0-1Haiti (N, Friendly): Lost 0-4Chile (H, FIFA Series): Won 4-1New Zealand’s World Cup form reflects the gap in class between them and their Group G rivals. The 4-0 friendly loss to Haiti and the 0-1 defeat to England in the final pre-tournament warm-ups offered a sobering preview, and the 3-1 loss to Egypt confirmed defensive concerns at competitive level. The 2-2 draw with Iran shows the team can score, but conceding multiple goals in consecutive competitive matches is a concern heading into this fixture.Belgium – Last 5Iran (H, World Cup): Drew 0-0Egypt (H, World Cup): Drew 1-1Tunisia (H, Friendly): Won 5-0Croatia (A, Friendly): Won 2-0Mexico (N, Friendly): Drew 1-1Belgium’s World Cup has been a disappointment so far, with two draws against opponents they would have expected to beat producing just one goal in 180 minutes of competitive football. The contrast with their pre-tournament form, particularly the 5-0 demolition of Tunisia and 2-0 victory over Croatia, underlines that the performance level has not transferred into the tournament. Garcia will look to this fixture against New Zealand to restore confidence and finally unlock the attacking quality the squad clearly possesses.New Zealand vs Belgium Head to HeadNew Zealand and Belgium have no recorded head-to-head meetings at senior international level, making this a genuinely historic first encounter between the two nations. There is no historical pattern to draw from, though the gulf in World Cup experience is stark: Belgium are appearing at the tournament for the 14th time with a best finish of second place in 1978, while New Zealand are making just their third appearance overall. Belgium’s third-place finish at Russia 2018 demonstrates the pedigree this squad carries onto the field, even if the current generation has not yet matched that benchmark.Team NewsNew Zealand captain Chris Wood leads the line as the team’s standout attacking threat, with 90 caps and 45 international goals to his name for the All Whites. Wood’s partnership with midfield contributors Elijah Just, who has scored twice already at this World Cup, and the wider group of A-League and European-based players gives M. Mayne a functional but limited squad by World Cup standards. The squad was confirmed ahead of the tournament with no major absentees publicly flagged.Belgium arrive in Vancouver without significant injury concerns of note based on available information. Thibaut Courtois retains the goalkeeping position with 109 caps, while Kevin De Bruyne’s creative influence from midfield remains central to Belgium’s hopes of breaking down opponents. Youri Tielemans captains the side and anchors the midfield alongside Amadou Onana. Romelu Lukaku leads the attack with 90 international goals from 126 caps, making the Napoli striker Belgium’s all-time top scorer.R. Garcia is expected to maintain a back four built around established names including Timothy Castagne and Zeno Debast, with the attacking trio of Lukaku, Jérémy Doku, and either Leandro Trossard or Charles De Ketelaere likely to feature. Belgium have the squad depth to rotate without losing significant quality, and the urgency of the situation makes wholesale changes unlikely.New Zealand vs Belgium Predicted LineupsPredicted XI (New Zealand – 4-4-2): Crocombe; Smith, Boxall, Pijnaker, Cacace; McCowatt, Stamenic, Just, Old; Waine, Wood (c)Predicted XI – squad to be confirmed.Predicted XI (Belgium – 4-3-3): Courtois; Castagne, Debast, Theate, De Cuyper; Onana, Tielemans (c), De Bruyne; Doku, Lukaku, TrossardPredicted XI – squad to be confirmed.Key Tactical MatchupThe central duel of this fixture is Jérémy Doku’s pace and directness against New Zealand’s left-sided defensive structure. Doku, who has scored seven goals in 43 caps for Belgium, has the ability to isolate full-backs and create crossing opportunities for Romelu Lukaku, whose 90 international goals make him a constant aerial and physical threat inside the box. New Zealand’s defenders have already conceded five goals in two matches, suggesting the back line can be stretched by quality movement. If De Bruyne, who has contributed eight goals across recent international matches, finds Doku in behind the defensive line, Belgium have the firepower to convert pressure into a comfortable margin of victory.New Zealand vs Belgium Best BetsBetfred5.0Welcome BonusBet and Get New Bettor Bonus of £50 in Free Bets BET NOWHighbet 4.9Welcome BonusBet £10 and Get a £20 Free Bet BET NOWParimatch4.8Welcome BonusSports Welcome Offer Bet and Get for a £20 Free Bet BET NOWBelgium Win @ 2/9 Belgium are overwhelming favourites in the New Zealand vs Belgium prediction market, and rightly so. Their squad quality across every position dwarfs that of New Zealand, and the pressure to win makes a cautious, low-energy performance unlikely. Even accounting for a sluggish tournament start, Belgium have the individual brilliance to see off an All Whites side that has conceded five goals in two games.Over 3 Goals @ 1/1 Both sides have shown a willingness to attack and an inability to keep clean sheets in this tournament. New Zealand have scored three goals across their two games while conceding five, and Belgium’s attackers carry genuine threat. The totals line is set at three, and with Belgium needing goals to improve their goal difference alongside Egypt, the 1/1 available on Over 3 Goals represents solid value.Romelu Lukaku to Score Anytime Lukaku’s 90 international goals underline his consistent finishing record, and with Belgium looking to attack early and often, the Napoli striker is well-placed to get on the scoresheet against a New Zealand defence that has looked vulnerable throughout the group stage. Check the best available price with leading operators.Belgium Win to Nil Belgium’s best pre-tournament displays included a 5-0 win over Tunisia and a 2-0 win over Croatia, suggesting a clean sheet is achievable when the team is motivated. New Zealand’s attack, while lively in parts, has struggled in competitive conditions, failing to score against England. With Courtois in goal, a Belgium shut-out carries genuine appeal at the best available price.New Zealand vs Belgium OddsThe New Zealand vs Belgium betting odds reflect a significant gap between the two sides, with Belgium available at 2/9 for the win across leading operators.Belgium Win: 2/9Draw: 6/1New Zealand Win: 14/1Over 3 Goals: 1/1Under 3 Goals: 10/11Odds sourced from leading operators. Honda Sets Belgian GP Target for Major Aston Martin Engine Upgrade
Aston Martin’s nightmare start to the 2026 Formula 1 season might finally be nearing a turning point. Following months of crippling reliability issues and a severe lack of pace under the new engine regulations, Honda Racing Corporation (HRC) has laid out a definitive timeline for a rescue package.According to an update from Fórmula Directa—which highlights quotes from an interview with HRC President Koji Watanabe by The Race—Honda is actively preparing a significant power unit upgrade. As detailed in the update, this new Honda engine is expected to arrive around the Belgian Grand Prix on July 19.The Fight to Return to the PointsFor a team that expected to be fighting at the sharp end of the grid, 2026 has been a humbling reality check. The Honda power unit’s struggles have kept the Silverstone-based squad firmly at the back of the pack. However, Watanabe is maintaining a pragmatic approach to the remainder of the year. The immediate goals for the updated power unit are focused on stabilization rather than outright dominance.Watanabe explicitly stated his goal for the current campaign: “This season we want to be in a position to fight for points”. But despite the early setbacks, he also expressed long-term optimism for the partnership, noting, “I think we have the potential to return to competing at the highest level”.Decoding the Infamous Aston Martin Vibration IssuesThe primary culprit behind Aston Martin’s disastrous start has been severe, chassis-rattling engine vibrations. These harmonic issues forced the team to heavily compromise their track running and restrict their performance output earlier in the season. However, Watanabe offered a fascinating technical insight into the root cause of the problem. He clarified that the baseline metrics of the internal combustion engine were not inherently erratic when running on the factory test benches.Oct 18, 2025; Austin, TX, USA; Aston Martin Aramco driver Lance Stroll (18) of Team Canada goes off track after colliding with MoneyGram Haas F1 driver Esteban Ocon (31) of Team France during the 2025 US Grand Prix Sprint race at Circuit of The Americas Austin. Mandatory Credit: Jerome Miron-Imagn Images“The vibrations were almost similar to those of the 2025 engine, which presented no problems at all,” Watanabe explained. This heavily implies that the catastrophic vibrations were triggered by the specific integration of the Honda power unit into the Aston Martin AMR26 chassis, rather than a fundamental design flaw of the engine in isolation. If Honda and Aston Martin have successfully collaborated on countermeasures to solve this complex packaging conflict, the incoming Belgian GP upgrade could finally unlock the dormant potential of their 2026 car.

He had the chance to break the record much earlier in the game, but he missed a penalty kick in the ninth minute. During stoppage time in the second half, the Inter Miami star added to his record, scoring his fifth goal of the tournament to give Argentina a 2-0 win.Lionel Messi of Argentina during the World Cup match between Argentina v AustriaCredit: Rico Brouwer/Soccrates/GettyAfter the game, Messi described breaking the record as "special," per The Guardian. He continued, “Like I've said other times, I enjoy playing, having a good time on the pitch. I wasn't necessarily having one on the penalty, but with luck we were able to work through that situation, take the advantage and leave with three points."Messi wouldn't be drawn on his favorite of the 18 World Cup goals. “I can't recall right now, I'm tired, low on energy, and finding it hard to think,” he said, laughing, as noted by The Guardian. It is a big week for the sports star who also turns 39 on Wednesday. He started this World Cup with 13 career goals across five World Cup tournaments, but in Argentina's opening game against Algeria, he netted a hat trick, bringing him level with Klose's record of 16 before he set the new mark on Monday.Lionel Messi (L) of Argentina scores the 1-0 goal against goalkeeper Alexander Schlager of Austria during the FIFA World Cup 2026 group stage match Argentina against Austria, in Dallas, USA, 22 June 2026.Credit: JEFFREY MCWHORTER/EPA/ShutterstockAfter becoming visibly emotional during the game, Messi later explained that he cried because of “something totally unrelated to football [soccer].”“I went through some difficult days," Messi said, after he was seen using the front of his white-and-blue jersey to wipe the tears from his eyes at Kansas City Stadium."But I'm grateful to the entire delegation and my teammates because they were always by my side, giving me a lot of strength to help me get through it," the soccer legend — who is playing in his sixth World Cup — added, although he declined to go into further details about his upset.Argentina coach Lionel Scaloni said after the game that he was "at a loss for words about Leo," per ESPN.“He's incredible,” he added.Messi was supported by his family during the matchup in Kansas City, including his wife, Antonela Roccuzzo, and their three sons, Thiago, Mateo and Ciro.Lionel Messi of Argentina celebrates 2-0 during the World Cup match between Argentina v AustriaCredit: Rico Brouwer/Soccrates/GettyMessi and Roccuzzo were childhood friends and later reconnected in 2005, welcoming Thiago in 2012. Bengals get a Patriots comparison amid Joe Burrow leadership talk
Cincinnati Bengals teammates, including new names like Jonathan Allen, love the sense of urgency Joe Burrow has added this offseason. It’s becoming a national topic, too, with a broader audience zooming out and adding that urgency to other notable talking points. One such talking point? Strength of schedule. On ESPN’s “Get Up” program, for example, Domonique Foxworth talked about the Bengals having the easiest schedule in the NFL next year. "A lot of people are going to be playing for their jobs and their futures for that team," Foxworth said. “Especially on that coaching staff. So I think that it’s important that he put that pressure there.”Detractors will point out that strength of schedule is based on last year’s standings. But the New England Patriots just went to the Super Bowl off one of the easiest schedules, too, which gets looped into the conversation. Regardless, there’s no debate the Bengals should feel urgency. There’s no debate that another failure of a season would cost many people jobs. So, indeed, Burrow should keep getting praise for changing it up. Report: Liverpool must pay €70m to sign World Cup midfielder
Report: Liverpool must pay €70m to sign World Cup midfielderLiverpool Face Fresh Competition as Real Madrid Join Race for Ayyoub BouaddiLiverpool’s recruitment team have rarely shied away from identifying elite young talent before the rest of Europe fully catches up. That approach may now be tested again, with Real Madrid stepping up their interest in Lille midfielder Ayyoub Bouaddi.Photo: IMAGOAccording to Patrick Berger of Sky Germany, Madrid are intensifying their monitoring of the 18 year old after an impressive start to the World Cup with Morocco.Liverpool have already been linked with the midfielder, alongside Chelsea and Paris Saint Germain, but Real Madrid’s emergence changes the complexion of the situation. When Madrid become serious observers, every club pays attention.World Cup Platform Accelerates Bouaddi’s RiseBouaddi entered the summer as one of Europe’s most intriguing young midfield prospects. The World Cup has only strengthened that reputation. His composed performance against Brazil attracted widespread praise and reinforced why several elite clubs have been keeping close tabs on his development.Photo IMAGOBerger reported that senior figures within Madrid’s recruitment structure were present in New Jersey. He posted on X: “Real Madrid are very interested in Ayyoub Bouaddi (18). People from Real Madrid, including Juni Calafat, were in attendance at the Brazil vs Morocco match in New Jersey to watch him closely. The club will continue to monitor his situation. Lille are demanding at least €70m for the talented midfielder.”Juni Calafat’s involvement is particularly noteworthy. Madrid’s chief scout has built an outstanding reputation for identifying young stars before they become unattainable assets.Liverpool will undoubtedly be aware of that track record.Lille Position Strengthens Negotiating PowerLOSC Lille have carefully positioned themselves for this moment.Bouaddi recently signed a contract extension until 2029, ensuring the French side remain under no immediate pressure to sell. The new deal serves a dual purpose. It rewards the player’s progress while protecting Lille’s leverage in negotiations.A valuation of at least €70m demonstrates the confidence they have in his future potential. That figure may appear ambitious for an 18 year old, yet context matters.Bouaddi made 42 appearances across all competitions last season and established himself as a regular contributor in a team that finished third in Ligue 1 and reached the Europa League round of 16.His development curve points sharply upwards.Liverpool Must Decide How Aggressive to BeLiverpool have evolved their transfer model over recent years.Elite potential often carries a premium, but the club remain disciplined when it comes to valuations. They rarely enter bidding wars without conviction.Bouaddi’s profile certainly aligns with modern Liverpool recruitment principles. Technically secure, physically mature for his age and capable of operating under pressure, he possesses many qualities clubs prioritise.Photo IMAGOThe player himself remains focused on international duty.“For the moment, I’m only focused on the World Cup. I cannot answer this right now.“I am really happy to know that some clubs are interested in me, but for now, I’m here focused on the World Cup with Morocco and we will try to give everything to do our best.”That maturity may be as attractive as his footballing talent.Liverpool will continue their assessment, but Real Madrid’s presence ensures this pursuit is unlikely to remain straightforward. Our View – Anfield Index AnalysisFrom a Liverpool supporter’s perspective, this is exactly the type of player the club should be monitoring. There is understandable excitement around Bouaddi because he ticks several boxes. Liverpool supporters have seen the benefits of signing players before they become global superstars rather than after their value explodes. At 18 years old, there is enormous room for growth. The challenge, however, comes when Real Madrid enter the equation. History shows that Madrid carry a different level of pull with young players across Europe. That should not force Liverpool into abandoning their principles.Supporters will likely trust the recruitment department to make a balanced judgement. Paying €70m for a teenager carries obvious risk, regardless of talent. The encouraging aspect is that Liverpool have already been tracking him before Madrid’s interest became public. This is not a reactionary move.If the club genuinely believe Bouaddi can become one of Europe’s best midfielders, then there is a case for being decisive.Liverpool have already built a strong midfield foundation over recent seasons, but elite squads require constant evolution.Bouaddi feels like a player capable of becoming a cornerstone for the next decade. The key question is whether Liverpool view him as a future project or an immediate priority. If Real Madrid accelerate their interest, that decision may have to come sooner rather than later.

Report: Tottenham Hotspur ready to move for Man United forward
Report: Tottenham Hotspur ready to move for Man United forwardMarcus Rashford Transfer Latest: Tottenham Explore Summer MoveTottenham Hotspur’s ambitious summer recruitment drive appears far from complete. According to iNews, Marcus Rashford has emerged as the latest high profile target for Roberto De Zerbi’s side as Spurs continue to strengthen following an impressive campaign.Having already secured Jan Paul van Hecke and tested Newcastle United’s resolve with an £80 million bid for Sandro Tonali, Tottenham are prioritising proven Premier League quality. Rashford certainly fits that profile.Spurs Eye Proven Premier League TalentThe England international arrives at a fascinating stage of his career. After rediscovering his form during his spell with Barcelona, Rashford has carried that momentum into the World Cup. His performances have reminded supporters and clubs alike of the qualities that once made him one of Europe’s most exciting forwards.Photo IMAGO“Proven Premier League players are top priority over younger, more inexperienced starlets from abroad for Spurs.”That approach explains Tottenham’s interest. The report states that Spurs are unwilling to trigger the £40 million clause previously agreed between Manchester United and Aston Villa. Instead, they are exploring a lower fee structure that could make a deal more achievable.Rashford Preference Creates ComplicationWhile Tottenham admire the player, Rashford’s current preference lies elsewhere.“At this stage, Rashford’s preference would be to move abroad again, preferably back to Barcelona, or to Bayern Munich.”Photo IMAGOA return to Manchester United has also not been ruled out completely. However, circumstances may force a rethink. United reportedly remain eager to move him on, particularly given his substantial salary package.“United sources are adamant the club will not engage with Barcelona over another loan deal.”That stance narrows the available pathways and could increase the appeal of alternatives.De Zerbi’s InfluenceOne significant factor is Roberto De Zerbi’s admiration for the player.“Spurs boss Roberto De Zerbi is understood to be a huge fan and will push the club’s hierarchy to agree some form of deal.”Managers often play a decisive role in transfer negotiations and De Zerbi’s belief in Rashford could prove influential. For Tottenham, the attraction is obvious. They would be acquiring an experienced England international with pace, versatility and a proven record at the highest level.Manchester United Planning AheadUnited’s transfer activity suggests they are preparing for potential departures.Moves for Atalanta midfielder Ederson remain under consideration, while interest in Mateus Fernandes and Crysencio Summerville highlights a desire to refresh several areas of the squad. For now, Rashford’s future remains unresolved, but Tottenham’s interest adds another intriguing layer to one of the summer’s most compelling transfer stories. Our View – EPL Index AnalysisAs football supporters, this feels like one of the most fascinating transfer situations of the summer.Marcus Rashford remains a player of immense quality. His resurgence in Barcelona reminded everyone that talent does not simply disappear. Sometimes a fresh environment and renewed confidence can transform a career. From a Tottenham perspective, the attraction is obvious. Spurs would potentially be signing an England international who still has several prime years ahead of him. If Roberto De Zerbi truly believes he can get the best out of Rashford, supporters have every reason to be intrigued. There is still some scepticism.Wages remain a major obstacle. Any deal would require compromise from all parties, and Rashford’s preference for a move abroad complicates matters further.Yet circumstances change quickly in football. If Barcelona are unwilling to commit permanently and Bayern Munich prioritise other targets, Tottenham could suddenly become a far more realistic destination. For Manchester United supporters, the situation may feel bittersweet. Rashford came through the academy and enjoyed many memorable moments at Old Trafford. However, there also comes a point when both player and club may benefit from a fresh start. This feels like a transfer that could gather momentum as the window develops. If the finances align and De Zerbi continues to push for the move, Tottenham may have a genuine opportunity to secure one of the Premier League’s most recognisable attacking players.

Tyler Adams: United considering signing Bournemouth’s affordable star
Tyler Adams: United considering signing Bournemouth’s affordable starManchester United and West Ham United have made little progress in their talks over a transfer fee for Mateus Fernandes. It has been widely reported that Manchester United have persuaded Fernandes to move to Old Trafford, with the player already agreeing personal terms. However, the Red Devils are yet to submit a formal offer to West Ham.United have no intention of meeting West Ham’s £80 million valuation for their midfield gem. The Red Devils could be forced to look elsewhere if the Hammers’ stance remains unchanged.Manchester United told asking price for Tyler AdamsManchester United’s priority is to sign Premier League-proven midfielders, and the club has set its sights on a midfielder potentially available at half the price of Mateus Fernandes.According to CaughtOffside, Manchester United and Chelsea are both keeping a close eye on Bournemouth midfielder Tyler Adams.“The United States international has rebuilt his reputation strongly after injury problems earlier in his Bournemouth career, and his energy, tackling and tactical discipline have made him an attractive option for bigger clubs,” the report states. Bournemouth are not particularly open to losing Adams, who moved to the south coast from Leeds United. However, the USMNT international has just two years left to run on his current deal with the Cherries. It is claimed “a serious offer could force a conversation.” A proposal in the region of £30m could reportedly test Bournemouth’s resolve.Contact made for midfielder statistically better than RodriUnited view Adams as “a realistic and relatively affordable” Premier League-proven option, having been left impressed with the 27-year-old’s defensive numbers, work rate and ability to cover ground. Last month, The Peoples Person relayed a report from The Athletic claiming United are “in touch to understand the cost” of a potential deal for Adams. It has previously been reported that the Bournemouth midfield engine has caught the attention of United’s analysts, who claim the American is statistically better than Manchester City’s Ballon d’Or winner Rodri in some aspects.Featured image Michael Steele via Getty Imagesonline pollsThe Peoples Person has been one of the world’s leading Man United news sites for over a decade. 2027 5-star OL announces commitment date, Texas A&M 'slight' favorite
Texas A&M's future offensive line rotation is set to feature four current commits in the Aggies' No. 1-ranked 2027 recruiting class, led by five-star tackle Mark Matthews and five-star IOL Kennedy Brown, while four-star tackles DeMarrion Johnson and Kaeden Scott are equally gifted. Coach Mike Elko and O-line coach Adam Cushing aren't finished, looking to land one more offensive line commit in the cycle, and are focused on reeling in five-star IOL Albert Simien, who announced his commitment day on Monday, set for Friday, June 26. Simien will choose between Nebraska, LSU, Notre Dame, Ole Miss, and Texas A&M, and while the Aggies have continued to close the gap, LSU and Notre Dame are reportedly making things interesting. Thanks to AggieYell recruiting expert Jaxson Callaway's reporting, Texas A&M still retains a "slight edge" with Simien, but after his official visit to Notre Dame, the Fighting Irish have gained ground, and similar to five-star linebacker Kaden Henderson's last-minute decision, choosing the Aggies over Notre Dame last Thursday, Simien's commitment could also come down to the wire. However, what could play in the Aggies' favor is Simien's relationship with his cousin, 2027 Texas A&M commit and four-star edge Kaden McCarty, who, even before shutting down his recruitment, has attempted to recruit other players, a strategy that has consistently paid off. "That said, Texas A&M‘s long-term position as the constant at the top of his recruitment, along with several personal ties, including his relationship with Aggies commit and cousin Kaden McCarty, continues to work in the Aggies’ favor."This week, Mike Elko and his staff hope to earn 2027 five-star wide receiver Eric McFarland's commitment on Sunday, while rising three-star wideout Demani Warren is also a name to watch. 🚨NEWS🚨 5-star IOL Albert Simien will announce his commitment on June 26, @Hayesfawcett3 reports⏳His finalists are Ole Miss, LSU, Notre Dame, Texas A&M, and Nebraska.Read: https://t.co/vE52mf7v2Apic.twitter.com/PMergYxHBP— Rivals (@Rivals) June 22, 2026Contact/Follow us @AggiesWire on X (formerly Twitter) and like our page on Facebook to follow ongoing coverage of Texas A&M news, notes and opinions. Colts' Shane Steichen with connection to top remaining free agent WR
If the Indianapolis Colts are looking to make a free agent addition at wide receiver, head coach Shane Steichen does have a connection to one of the top remaining available players.Following the final minicamp practice, ESPN's Stephen Holder wrote in his takeaways that the Colts are "still mulling a potential roster move at receiver."One of the more intriguing positional battles taking place with the Colts is at receiver for that third starting spot. As of now, Ashton Dulin appears to be the front-runner for those snaps, but also competing for playing time are Laquon Treadwell, Nick Westbrook-Ikhine, and Deion Burks. This is a group without a sustained track record of steady production in the passing game at the NFL level, which is why another addition appears to be on GM Chris Ballard's radar. The free agent market is thin at this stage of the offseason, but as The Athletic's James Boyd pointed out, Steichen does have previous ties to long-time Chargers wideout Keenan Allen.Allen entered the NFL with the Chargers in 2013, and Steichen held various roles with that team from 2014 through 2020, which included being the offensive coordinator during that final year. That familiarity with Steichen's system could allow Allen to hit the ground running in Indianapolis.Allen is a six-time Pro Bowler, most recently accomplishing that feat during the 2023 season. From 2017 through 2023, Allen surpassed 1,100 receiving yards in five of those seven seasons. His production the last two years hasn't been at that same level, but he's still totaled over 1,500 yards during that span with 11 touchdowns.Along with Allen, Deebo Samuel and Stefon Diggs remain free agents as well. The Colts have more than enough cap space to make an addition. This article originally appeared on Colts Wire: Colts Shane Steichen, free agent Keenan Allen with history together

Brian Brobbey: Man United’s interest in Sunderland striker explained
Brian Brobbey: Man United’s interest in Sunderland striker explainedManchester United are considering a summer swoop for Brian Brobbey after the 24-year-old striker’s impressive debut campaign for Sunderland, according to a new report.More Firepower Up TopAfter a quiet start to life in M16, Benjamin Sesko enjoyed a superb streak once Michael Carrick took the helm in January, scoring seven times under the 44-year-old Englishman in 13 games. However, many of these appearances were from the bench late in games, totalling 595 minutes, meaning the Slovenia international averaged a goal every 85 minutes – comfortably the best conversion rate in the Premier League.Unfortunately, the same praise cannot be afforded to his partner in crime up front, Joshua Zirkzee, who has proven a poor signing since his £36.5 million capture from Serie A side Bologna in 2024.A meagre return of nine goals and four assists in 75 appearances is far short of the requisite standard for a United striker, while his all-round play has been nowhere near good enough to compensate.Despite the 24-year-old Dutchman being open to staying and being a popular member of the squad, INEOS are prepared to cut their losses this summer. A return to Italy is considered the most likely destination, with a desire to bring in a more reliable striker in his place. This has led United’s hierarchy to assess a move for his compatriot, Brobbey – a long-term target at Old Trafford, whom the club came close to signing on multiple occasions while Erik ten Hag was at the helm. From Strength to StrengthSunderland signed Brobbey from Ajax last summer for fee worth around £17 million, despite the 24-year-old striker having failed to build on his early promise in Amsterdam. Eighteen goals and eight assists in an impressive 2023/24 campaign were followed by just eight goal contributions in total the following year. But the Black Cats were undeterred by the drop in form, believing the Netherlands international’s potent pairing of speed, size and strength lent itself perfectly to the rigours of English football. And it proved a masterstroke, as Brobbey epitomised Regis le Bris’s newly promoted side’s aggressive and physical approach, which caught many Premier League sides by complete surprise and produced the best season at the Stadium of Light in a generation. With Brobbey as their frontman, scoring seven goals and offering a constant outlet which terrorised opposition centre-backs, as Lisandro Martinez proved, Sunderland finished an unlikely seventh, securing Europa League qualification at the expense of Chelsea on the final day.The Amsterdam native’s impressive performances, combining outstanding physicality and underrated technique, have continued at the World Cup. He was handed the starting berth up front by Ronald Koeman for the decisive clash with Sweden last weekend and scored twice in a 5-1 trouncing. It’s little surprise this form has put Brobbey in the crosshairs of England’s top clubs, with TEAMtalk revealing United are joined by Aston Villa, Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur in their interest. Further afield, Juventus, Stuttgart and Atletico Madrid are also keeping a close eye on the situation on Wearside. The Red Devils are said to be “very much keen” on the Sunderland striker, though well-placed sources indicate the Black Cats have “no intention of sanctioning a sale and will do all in their power to retain the 14-times capped Netherlands star, who is contracted to the Stadium of Light until 2029.”In response to this form for club and country, and the growing list of suitors, a new deal on much improved terms is in the works, though that “position could yet be tested if one of Europe’s elite decides to make a formal move”.Final ThoughtsBrobbey ticks a lot of the boxes INEOS have made integral to their recruitment model at Old Trafford, while he would offer a healthy alternative to Sesko rather than an uncomfortable rival for the Slovenian. However, Sunderland’s refusal to even name a price suggests any pursuit would be difficult and expensive – two hurdles it may simply not be worth jumping for what is essentially a signing for depth.Featured image Stu Forster via Getty Imagesonline pollsThe Peoples Person has been one of the world’s leading Man United news sites for over a decade. Aaron Wilson was first on the news. Reid was originally waived on June 11 with the injury following being signed by the team on May 8 after going undrafted. The procedural move here allows Reid to sign with another club and hints at Reid’s injury not being a 2026 season-ender.
