Marjorie Taylor Greene rails at misogynistic pig Don Lemon for visiting her office
Anti-LGBTQ+ Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) accused gay journalist Don Lemon of misogyny for aggressively harassing her staff on Wednesday. In reality, Lemon was part of a group seeking to talk with Congress members about impeaching the president.A video of the office visit shows Lemon entering Greenes office with several activists who request to meet with her. Her office worker says that Greene isnt in and that they can leave a message. Related Don Lemon is done with people defending Donald Trumps racism We would like to make sure she knows that we need to get Donald Trump impeached and out of office, says Carlos lvarez, the founder of American Opposition, an anti-fascist political action committee.A blonde male staff member of Greenes office then says, Uh, we dont permit recording in this office. So Im going to have to ask you to stop recording. This is a private office. When lvarez says the group is there to meet Greene, the staffer responds, Youre not residents of our district and you havent requested a meeting. The staffer then accuses the group of bombarding Greenes office, even though they dont live in her congressional district. Several group members say that Greene represents the American people who also pay her salary with their taxes. The staffer then points out that group members are still recording, and he and lvarez argue over that point as the staffer commands the group to leave. As the group exits and the staffer closes the door, the group jeers, boos, and applauds. Someone says, Nazis! while another group member extends their middle finger towards the closed office door.Greene shared a video clip showing what happened while criticizing Lemon on X. Greene wrote, This is how Don Lemon, who was fired by CNN for being such a disgusting, misogynistic pig to his female coworkers and women, is trying to get viewers for his new podcast. Clearly, his misogyny continues. Capitol Police had to ask Don and his production team to leave for aggressively harassing my staff after they stormed the Capitol and my office. Isnt this inciting an insurrection?? Marjorie Taylor Greene (@RepMTG) September 2, 2025 However, the group wasnt Lemons production team, the group didnt aggressively harass her staff (they never shouted and left when told), and the police officer didnt ask them to leave either. The officer approached the crowd and told them not to make such disorderly noise. The group then apologized, promised to be quiet, and asked him for directions to Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-MD), which the officer provided.Greenes comments about Lemon refer to his February 2023remarksabout then-Republican presidential candidateNikki Haley not being in her prime after Haley made similar remarks about then-President Joe Biden. Lemons remark was widely criticized as misogynistic, and CNN fired him on April 24, 2023,amid reports of other diva-like behavior and falling ratings for his CNN show. Also, Greene was trolling with her mention of inciting an insurrection. She has long criticized Democrats for accusing the president of inciting the January 6, 2021, U.S. Capitol riot with his baseless claims of nationwide fraud in the 2020 presidential election. Greene and Trump have both referred to the imprisoned rioters as political prisoners, even though they injured numerous police officers, broke into congressional offices, and threatened to kill the then-vice president and other Congress members.Subscribe to theLGBTQ Nation newsletterand be the first to know about the latest headlines shaping LGBTQ+ communities worldwide.

Cardi B Says Her Forehead Is Raw from Constant Wig Changes During Assault Trial
Cardi B may have walked away victorious from her recent assault trial, but not without enduring some unexpected beauty-related pain. The rapper told reporters on Tuesday, Sept. 2, that her forehead had been left raw from the frequent wig changes she made during her courtroom appearances. The Bodak Yellow rapper, 32, spoke to reporters outside a California courthouse following the conclusion of a civil trial in which she was cleared of assault allegations stemming from a 2018 incident involving a security guard. While addressing the press, many of whom had followed the high-profile case closely, Cardi paused to thank the media for what she called their respectful coverage throughout the proceedings. Im telling you guys, when I say that my forehead is raw from changing all these wigs raw, raw, raw, raw, she said with a laugh, responding to a reporters question in Spanish about her frequently changing hairstyles during the trial. The comment drew laughter from the assembled media.A Trial with Headlines and Hair ChangesCardi B, born Belcalis Marlenis Almanzr, had been in court defending herself against a $24 million lawsuit brought by security guard Emani Ellis. Ellis alleged that Cardi assaulted her, claiming the rapper cut her cheek with a three-inch fingernail and spat on her during an encounter outside a medical office in 2018. At the time, Cardi was pregnant with her daughter, Kulture Kiari Cephus, though her pregnancy had not yet been made public.Throughout the week-long trial, Cardi made headlines not just for her legal battle, but also for her fashion and beauty choices, particularly her striking wigs, which changed almost daily. On Sept. 2, the day of her court victory, Cardi wore a middle-parted, dark brown wig styled in loose waves tied into a bun. While her hair was understated, her outfit was anything but. She donned a bold, $10,000 polka-dot Valentino suit, complete with a dramatic satin bow, ruffled blouse, and matching trousers.Just days earlier, on Aug. 27, she opted for a jet-black wig with a deep side part and voluminous curls that cascaded past her shoulders. The look paired seamlessly with her crisp white Jacquemus suit, creating a stark black-and-white contrast. On Aug. 26, Cardi turned heads yet again with a platinum blonde wig styled into glamorous Old Hollywood curls. Her outfit that dayby Giambattista Valliadded an additional element of drama to her courtroom look.It wasnt long before the plaintiffs legal team took notice of her ever-changing hair.Yesterday, you had black hair, short hair. Today its blonde and long, said attorney Ron Rosen during cross-examination. Which one is your real hair, or are they both real?Theyre wigs, Cardi responded with a short laugh.A Caution Against Lawsuit CultureFollowing the dismissal of the civil suit, Cardi took the opportunity to speak more seriously about the pressures of fame, and the legal challenges that often follow public figures.I work all day, and I work hard for my money, for my kids, for the people that I take care of, she said. So dont you ever think that youre going to sue me, and Im just going to settle. Her statement comes after a string of recent legal wins, as Cardi continues to push back against what she perceives as opportunistic lawsuits.Though she may have walked free from court, the rapper admitted the stress of the trial, and the daily wig changes, took their toll. The adhesive used to secure her wigs reportedly irritated her skin, especially around her hairline, which she noted had become raw from constant application and removal.Despite the discomfort, Cardis trial wardrobe didnt go unnoticed by fans and fashion-watchers alike. Social media lit up with daily recaps of her courtroom looks, with many praising her for staying true to her style even in the most serious of settings.A Viral Moment, and a ReminderAs the legal drama unfolded, Cardis candid courtroom reactions also became viral fodder online. One memorable clip captured her telling the court, Im pregnant. This girls about to beat my ass. Hello? A moment now being turned into limited-edition Am I the Drama? album covers, according to her team. While Cardi is no stranger to public scrutiny, she has often embraced viral moments with a sense of humor, and a businesswomans eye. Still, the rapper reminded everyone this week that behind the glam and the wigs is a hardworking mother and performer who isnt afraid to stand her ground. As for her post-trial plans? Cardi didnt elaborate. But one thing is certain: her forehead will likely be getting a much-needed break.Source

Oklahomas anti-woke teacher test criticized as performative bulls**t
Oklahoma, which ranks among the worst states for education and is facing a teacher shortage, recently unveiled its ideological purity test to weed out woke teachers. Its already being criticized as performative bulls**t, in part, because its impossible to fail and exists almost entirely to push right-wing anti-transgender talking points. In July, Republican State Superintendent of Public Instruction Ryan Walters announced that his department was partnering with conservative, anti-LGBTQ+ nonprofit PragerU to develop an ideological purity test for teachers relocating to the state from states with a woke agenda, like California and New York. Related Oklahomas anti-LGBTQ+ education chief told schools to teach the Bible. Theyre refusing. The so-called Teacher Qualification Test which anyone can take for free online has an introductory page that says, This initiative is a direct response to the increasing politicization of our schools through harmful promotion of gender-affirming care that undermines parental authority and confuses young children. PragerU stands firmly against this ideological assault.Though the exam largely focuses on basic questions about U.S. history and government, five of the tests 34 questions focus on LGBTQ+ issues, mostly transphobic talking points. Here are those questions and their answers: Insights for the LGBTQ+ community Subscribe to our briefing for insights into how politics impacts the LGBTQ+ community and more. Subscribe to our Newsletter today What is the fundamental biological distinction between males and females?(Answer: Chromosomes and reproductive anatomy)How is a childs biological sex typically identified?(Answer: Visual anatomical observation and chromosomes) Which chromosome pair determines biological sex in humans?(Answer: XX/XY)Why is the distinction between male and female considered important in areas like sports and privacy?(Answer: To preserve fairness, safety, and integrity for both sexes)What did the Supreme Court rule in the 2025 case Mahmoud v. Taylor?(Answer: Public schools cannot require participation in LGBTQ-themed instruction without a parental opt-out) While the final question above is factually correct, the four preceding it merely echo transphobic right-wing talking points used to deny trans people entry into gendered spaces and sports teams. Numerous biologists have pointed out that there are at least 40 different known variations of intersex sex characteristics (some of which include XXY and XYY chromosomal combinations).Walters has bragged that over 16,000 people have taken and passed the test; ignoring the fact that most of those test-takers are probably not teachers, but just people curious about the exam. In fact, since 2020,only 19 out of 573 out-of-state applications for teaching in Oklahoma came from California or New York, meaning that woke teachers arent flocking to the state in the first place.Hemant Mehta of the anti-Christian Nationalist website Friendly Atheist called the test performative bulls**t, noting that its impossible to fail because it makes test-takers re-choose their multiple choice answers until they choose the right one. He also noted that the earlier versions of the tests completion certificate misspelled the word certifiy, and that, upon finishing the test, test-takers are shown a page encouraging them to make a donation to PragerU. This is an advertising campaign for PragerU masquerading as an assessment, Mehta wrote. It wont stop outside teachers from working in Oklahomawhoever they arebecause it was never intended to do that. Walters just wanted to promote a conservative group using his government job, so he told the media he was imposing this test on blue state transfers. (Hes not. He cant. People fell for it anyway.)Though Walters had previously said that teachers who dont pass the test wont be allowed to teach in schools, it may be illegal since it oversteps the legal bounds of his office.Walters, who wants toban LGBTQ+ books but teach the Bible in public school history classes, has previouslypushed the transphobic lie about schools providing litterboxes to studentswho identify as cats. He alsoreferred to teachers unions as terrorist organizationsandillegally tried to make rulesbanning LGBTQ+ books and transgender bathroom access in schools. He has appeared at events hosted by Moms for Liberty, a right-wing anti-LGBTQ+ parents rights group that has been calledan extremist hate groupby the Southern Poverty Law Center. He also appointed Chaya Raichik, an anti-LGBTQ+ activist who goes by Libs of Tik Tok online,as a Library Media Advisor for the state(even though she has no educational experience, doesnt reside in Oklahoma, and has made posts that have led to bomb threats against students).Rob Miller, a Democrat running for Walters position in 2026,issued a statementsaying Honestly, it felt like an 8th-grade pop quiz no studying, no effort, barely a second thought. Families deserve more than political gimmicks. They deserve leaders who will do the real work of supporting teachers and improving student outcomes.Subscribe to theLGBTQ Nation newsletterand be the first to know about the latest headlines shaping LGBTQ+ communities worldwide.

White GOP senator blasted as racist for claiming U.S. was built by and for us
U.S. Senator Eric Schmitt (R-MO) has been accused of racism and white nationalism after he gave a speech in which he declared that pilgrims and George Washingtons Continental Army fought for and built this country for us as a birthright.Speaking at the National Conservatism Conference, Schmitt said the pilgrims and army believed they were fighting for a nation, a homeland for themselves and their descendants, adding, They fought, they bled, they struggled, they died for us, he declared. They built this country for us. America, in all its glory is their gift to us, handed down across the generations. It belongs to us. Its our birthright, its our heritage, our destiny. If America is everything and everyone, then it is nothing and no one at all. Related Marjorie Taylor Greene rails at misogynistic pig Don Lemon for visiting her office He then denounced new people who believe they can build a new America by changing the stories we tell about ourselves, The New Civil Rights Movement reported. George Washingtons Continental Army included an estimated 5,000 to 8,000 free and enslaved Black men who served in racially integrated units. However, one can hardly say that the country belongs to the white colonialists who would later form the earliest states. In reality, white colonists slaughtered the Native Americans who lived on the land that is now the United States, and Black slaves majorly contributed to building the nations capital and economy through their unpaid and involuntary labor. Whats creepier than a new Lady Gaga music video? One helmed by the gothic mastermind Tim Burton, of course. Dropped Wednesday morning, the new video for The Dead Dance opens with Gaga waking up in a graveyard littered with abandoned dolls. She twirls and thrashes her way through the black and white scene, dressed as a doll in Victorian-inspired layers and tight ringlets, while singing about moving through the pain.Lady Gaga Music Video The Dead Dance directed by Tim Burton / Photo: Lady Gaga on YouTubeCause when you killed me inside, thats when I came alive / Yeah, the musics gonna bring m back from death / Im dancin until Im dead Ill danc until Im dead, she sings. For the video, Gaga turned to Wednesday mastermind Tim Burton, who brought his signature gothic touch to the project. The visual was filmed on the infamous Island of the Dolls in Xochimilco, Mexico, a location already steeped in horror lore. The haunting choreography comes courtesy of Parris Goebel, who previously teamed up with Gaga on the viral Abracadabra video earlier this year. Here, Goebel matches the macabre backdrop with sharp, theatrical movements that make The Dead Dance feel like both a nightmare and a spectacle. The release isnt just a music moment, its a Wednesday moment. Why 100 Nights of Hero Director Chose Charli XCX for Her First Acting Role
Charli XCX, the Grammy-winning pop disruptor known for hits like Von Dutch, is officially making her cinematic debut in 100 Nights of Hero, a queer fantasy romance from director Julia Jackman. Though shes flirted with acting before, this marks the first time the global music icon has been formally cast in a major dramatic film role, and its one thats already turning heads on the festival circuit.A Star Is CastIn the film, Charli XCX plays Rosa, a mystical, fairy-tale figure who appears in surreal dreamlike sequences and haunts the edges of the storys enchanted world. While not a lead role, Rosa plays a pivotal part in adding a magical texture to the films queer narrative, centered on a forbidden love triangle.Set in a mysterious castle, 100 Nights of Hero follows a delicate and dangerous romantic entanglement between a noblemans wife, Cherry, her devoted maid, Hero, and a charming visitor, Manfred. Adapted from Isabel Greenbergs graphic novel, which was itself inspired by One Thousand and One Nights, the story uses myth, storytelling, and subversive romance to challenge patriarchal power structures. And at the heart of it all is Rosa, the musical spirit conjured into existence by Charli XCXs signature charisma. Why Jackman Chose HerDirector Julia Jackman admitted that she was initially unsure about casting a pop star in a fantasy period piece. But that changed after a chance meeting with Charli XCX following her 2024 Glastonbury performance. Riding the high of her critically acclaimed album Brat, Charli expressed interest in acting and was open to exploring new creative territory. She showed up to the first meeting with an iPad full of notes, ready to dive in without ego. Her preparation and curiosity stood out to Jackman. During their conversation, the director said she discovered a quiet shyness, a dry sense of humor, and a thoughtfulness that she hadnt expected. It was a very pleasant surprise when someone said to me: I think she might vibe with the film. The two met during Charlis Glastonbury set in 2024, while her albumBratwas surging. She had brought her iPad and her notes and was very open and keen to not force things, Jackman continued. And as we were speaking, I heard her dry sense of humour and there was a shyness and demureness I wasnt expecting. So I felt that she could be perfect to play this mythical fairy-tale figure. The Story Behind 100 Nights of Hero100 Nights of Hero is a lush, stylized adaptation of a beloved graphic novel. The plot begins with a twisted bet: a wealthy man wagers that his friend can seduce his wife within 100 nights. Unbeknownst to them, the wife is in love with her maid, and together the two women plot to thwart the scheme. To distract the would-be seducer, Hero spins stories each night, tales of rebellion, passion, and feminine power. These inner stories layer over the central narrative, creating a tapestry of queer mythology. The result is both a love story and a radical statement about who gets to tell stories and whose voices have been historically silenced. The cast also includes Nicholas Galitzine as Manfred, Maika Monroe as Cherry, and Emma Corrin as Hero, along with appearances from Felicity Jones, Richard E. Grant, and Amir El-Masry.Film Festivals and Release Dates100 Nights of Hero will have its world premiere on September 6 at the Venice International Film Festival. It will also close the London Film Festival on October 19 before arriving in U.S. theaters on December 5.Industry buzz is already building, not just for the films visually striking aesthetic and sweeping romance, but also for Charli XCXs standout performance.Charlis Broader Cinematic AscendanceWhile 100 Nights of Hero is her first officially cast acting role, its far from her last. Charli XCX is also set to appear at this years Toronto International Film Festival with Erupcja, a guerrilla-style indie drama she co-wrote, and Sacrifice, an action-comedy co-starring Anya Taylor-Joy, Salma Hayek, and Chris Evans.Shes also attached to several other projects, including Faces of Death with Barbie Ferreira, I Want Your Sex directed by Gregg Araki, The Gallerist alongside Natalie Portman and Jenna Ortega, and The Moment, a psychological thriller that shes also co-producing with Alexander Skarsgrd. Its clear Charli isnt just dabbling in acting, shes carving out a serious path in film, with a slate that spans genres and high-profile collaborators.Source

Josh OConnors Spit Take: Inside His Intimate Scene With Paul Mescal
The wait to see Josh OConnor and Paul Mescal as lovers in The History of Sound is nearly over, but the stars arent making the wait any easier. Over the weekend at the Telluride Film Festival, OConnor shared a playful, and very intimate, story about one of the films most talked-about scenes.A Spit Take, LiterallyDuring a Q&A following the Colorado screening, OConnor described what GQ has already dubbed the horniest moment in the film. Before Lionel (Mescal) and David (OConnor) share their first sexual encounter, David spits water directly into Lionels mouth. We were kind of keeping ourselves separate, and really in the characters, and then we did the first take, and it was the spit, and I just, it just dribbled down me, and Paul was like waiting, OConnor said with a laugh, acting out Mescal reclining with his mouth open.Mescal chimed in, joking, If you clipped this without sound it would be before trailing off, leaving both actors and the audience cracking up.War, Love, and SoundDirected by Oliver Hermanus, the WWI-set romance follows two young men traveling across the United States to record the voices, music, and stories of their countrymen. Along the way, Lionel and Davids partnership turns deeply personal. The unusual intimacy of the spit scene is just one example of how the film approaches desire in unexpected ways. OConnors anecdote gave festival-goers a glimpse into the offbeat chemistry that drives the movie. From Cannes to TellurideThe History of Sound made its debut earlier this year at the Cannes Film Festival, where reviews were divided. Despite the reception, Mescal pushed back against easy comparisons to Brokeback Mountain, calling them lazy.Since then, two trailers have been released, one highlighting the tender moments between Mescal and OConnor and even showing off Mescals singing voice. Why Fans Are BuzzingFor audiences, the promise of seeing two of the internets most beloved actors explore queer romance on screen is already enough reason to show up. Add in stories like OConnor gleefully recounting spitting in Mescals mouth, and anticipation for the film is only building. The History of Sound has no wide release date yet, but if early festival reactions are any indication, expect plenty of conversation once it hits theaters.Source

Emerald Fennells Wuthering Heights Trailer Heats Up with Margot Robbie, Jacob Elordi and Charli XCX
Emerald Fennell is reimagining Wuthering Heights, and the first look makes it clear, this version is far from the dusty literature class staple you might remember. The teaser, released Wednesday (Sept. 3), introduces Margot Robbie as Catherine Earnshaw and Jacob Elordi as Heathcliff in a tempestuous new take on Emily Bronts Gothic classic. Instead of quiet longing across the Yorkshire moors, the preview delivers a feverish rush of desire: scissors slicing through fabric, fingers slipping past lips, and breathless dialogue. At one point, Elordis Heathcliff whispers, I can follow you like a dog to the end of the world, hinting at the intensity audiences can expect when the film arrives Valentines Day 2026.A Soundtrack Fit for ObsessionThe clip is underscored by Charli XCXs track Everything Is Romantic, from her acclaimed 2024 album Brat. The pop star confirmed on X that she has written multiple original songs for the project, calling it a Valentines gift to fans.Charli has been steadily building her film rsum in between tours and festival headlining gigs. Earlier this year, she starred in Prime Videos Overcompensating and appeared in Erupcja and 100 Nights of Hero.In a previous interview, she shared her approach to transitioning from music to film: I hate it when musicians dive into a different field head-first without really researching or learning much of anything about it. So I did a lot of reading to educate myself over the past three or four years before I actually did anything.Fennells Gothic Glow-UpDirector Emerald Fennell has a reputation for taking familiar genres and flipping them on their head. Her 2020 debut Promising Young Woman earned an Academy Award, while her 2023 thriller Saltburn left audiences debating long after the credits rolled. With Wuthering Heights, Fennell appears to be delivering a blend of Bronts brooding passion and her own signature visual flair. The teaser hints at sweeping landscapes, kinetic camerawork, and a sense of danger threaded through every exchange. Its not a period piece that keeps its distance; its messy, charged, and unapologetically sensual.A Valentines Day StormReleasing on Feb. 13, 2026, Wuthering Heights is shaping up to be a stormy ride through love, obsession, and destruction. With Robbie and Elordis fiery chemistry, Fennells audacious direction, and Charli XCXs modern soundtrack, this adaptation promises to breathe new life into one of literatures most enduring tragedies.Source

Nature, Published online: 03 September 2025; doi:10.1038/d41586-025-02722-4Reductase enzymes catalyse the conversion of the greenhouse gas nitrous oxide (N2O) to environmentally benign dinitrogen gas. The discovery of a microbial N2O reductase reveals a previously unknown N2O sink and creates opportunities for innovative biotechnologies to counter the effects of N2O emissions.
