In other words, Bottom Autumn aka Bautumn is nearly upon us once again.Just as your tan starts fading, and its getting too cold to ogle guys at the beach anymore, the bottoms among us are taking over and making themselves known. To get to the bottom ahem of what makes this auspicious gay holiday season so great, how TikTok was involved in its creation, how to participate, and why there is a rivalry between fem tops and vers bottoms, we spoke with Zachary Zane, a sex and relationship expert for #LubeLife, who broke it all down. Move over, Christian Girl Autumn, its Bottom Autumn now!What does Bottom Autumn mean, and where did the term originate?@ricotaquitoCant wait ro celebrate with you guys In 2024, TikToker Eric Sedeo went viral for a video about Bottom Autumn where he laid out the playful feud between Fem Top Fall and Vers Bottom Autumn. Bautumn, as it come to be known, is now in its second year and shows no sign of slowing down.I have since seen Dom Bottom Autumn and other iterations, Zane tells PRIDE. Essentially, its just a fun way for bottoms to get a little attention and embrace being a little slutty and sex-positive during the fall.Whats the vers bottoms vs. fem tops rivalry about?@ashrayFEM TOP NATION RISEonly few understand the light #fyp #femtopfall #ballerinamakeyotoescurlLast year, Sedeo started a battle thats still raging on TikTok over whether fall is Fem Top Fall and Vers Bottom Autumn."I'm seeing all this discourse about Fem Top Fall or Vers Bottom Autumn," he says in the video. "Let's think this through guys. Fem Top Fall? What is a feminine top? A blouse, okay? Is blouse giving fall? I feel like blouse is giving spring/summer.But unlike the clearly summery fem tops, vers bottoms, Sedeo argues, are perfect for fall weather. "A versatile bottom? Think about that. It could be a nice trouser. It could be a heavy jean. Joggers!" he says. "Aren't you way more likely to vers bottom in the autumn? Think about it. No hate for Fem Top Fall, you had your moment. But blouses? Save that for the springtime!Its a low-stakes rivalry where everyone comes out on top metaphorically, of course!I don't think this is a real rivalry, to be clear, Zane explains. I think fem tops wanted some love, too, so in response to Bautumn created a fem top season. Its just playful and fun to incorporate into TikTok videos and memes.In case youre out of the loop, a fem top (also known as a blouse) is someone who looks like they love to get their back blown out think twinks, drag queens, or a fem queer folks but actually loves to top in the bedroom. Vers bottoms (or Trousers), on the other hand, love bottoming, but can also take on the role of the penetrator in a relationship.How does one observe the season?Its up to you in how you observe it, but I think its just a way to embrace and feel proud of being a bottom, Zane says. If that means youre taking loads this fall, go for it! If it just means you want to talk about being a bottom more, go for it. Theres no one way to celebrate or observe the seasonjust have fun with it.So get out there and celebrate your bottom energy, raise bottom visibility, and go find the top to your bautumn!Who can participate? Is there an equivalent for queer women?Whether youre a gay man, nonbinary, trans, or a lesbian, you can get in on the Bottom Autumn fun. The terms top and bottom may have originally been coined by and for gay men, but lesbian bottoms are a thing, and any queer person can take on that role in the bedroom.I think anyone can participate! Queer women can absolutely identify as bottoms, so join in on the fun, Zane says.The great thing about being queer is that we dont have to adhere to strict heteronormative ideas around sex, gender, and relationship structures. So if youre LGBTQ+ unshackle yourself from those rigid boundaries and lean into Bottom Autumn, regardless of who you are.How do you best prepare? Any cautionary advice?@tophhgriffYessss divas!! #fypIts a truism in life, always use more lube than you think you need. And never leave home without it, especially during Bautum, Zane advises.If you plan to have a season that involves a lot of bottoming, Id recommend always having lube on you, he says. Your Bottom Autumn is going to be cut very short if you end up with a painful anal fissure (a small tear in the lining of the anal canal that can cause a ton of pain). (AP Photo/Richard Drew)2025-09-12T05:34:53Z NEW YORK (AP) Wall Street is coasting toward the finish of its best week in the last five on Friday as U.S. stocks hang near their record levels.The S&P 500 edged down by less than 0.1% from the all-time high it set the day before. The Dow Jones Industrial Average was down 183 points, or 0.4%, as of 11:45 a.m. Eastern time, and the Nasdaq composite was 0.3% higher. Both likewise set records the day before.Stocks have rallied with expectations that the Federal Reserve will cut its main interest rate for the first time this year at its meeting next week. Such a move would give the economy a kickstart, and mortgage rates have already dropped in anticipation of it. Expectations for a cut have built as recent reports suggested the U.S. job market could hit the precise balance that Wall Street has been betting on: slowing enough to convince the Fed that it needs help, but not so weak that it will mean a recession, all while inflation doesnt take off. A lot is riding on whether that bet proves correct. Stocks have already soared on it. And if the Fed ends up cutting fewer times than traders expect, including three this year, the market could retreat in disappointment. Thats even if everything else goes right and the economy does not fall into a recession and President Donald Trumps tariffs dont send inflation much higher. Investors, and I think the Fed, are convinced that we are not on the verge of a surge in inflation, according to Scott Wren, senior global market strategist at Wells Fargo Investment Institute. A survey from the University of Michigan on Friday suggested expectations for inflation may not be worsening among U.S. consumers. Preliminary data suggested theyre bracing for inflation of 4.8% in the upcoming year, the same as they were a month earlier. Expectations for inflation over the longer term crept higher, though theyre still below where they were in April, when Trump announced his worldwide tariffs. In the meantime, Wall Street continues to drift around its record heights.RH fell 2.7% after the furniture retailer reported profit and revenue for the latest quarter that came up short of analysts expectations. It also trimmed its forecasted range for revenue this fiscal year amid what CEO Gary Friedman called the polarizing impact of tariff uncertainty and the worst housing market in almost 50 years. Oracle sank 5% and was one of the days heaviest weights on the S&P 500 index. But that shaved only a bit off its surge from earlier in the week, when it soared to its best day on 1992 amid excitement about multi-billion dollar contracts signed related to artificial-intelligence technology. Another company thats benefited from the AI frenzy, Super Micro Computer, rose 2.5% after saying its begun high-volume shipments of racks using Blackwell Ultra equipment from Nvidia that can be used for AI. Microsoft climbed 2% after European Union regulators accepted the tech giants proposed changes to its Teams platform, resolving a long-running antitrust investigation. The European Commission said Friday that Microsofts final commitments to unbundle Teams from its Office software suite, including further tweaks following a market test in May and June, are enough to satisfy competition concerns. In stock markets abroad, indexes edged lower in Europe after rising in much of Asia.Japans Nikkei 225 climbed 0.9% to another record, while Hong Kongs Hang Seng rallied 1.2% for two of the bigger moves.In the bond market, the yield on the 10-year Treasury climbed to recover some of its drop from earlier in the week. It rose to 4.07% from 4.01% late Thursday. Yields have been mostly sinking as expectations built on Wall Street that the Fed will resume cutting rates soon. The Fed has been on hold through 2025, mostly because of the risk that Trumps tariffs could send prices for all kinds of U.S. household purchases much higher. Lower interest rates can make inflation even worse.That inaction, though, has infuriated Trump. He has threatened to fire Fed Chair Jerome Powell, whom he has nicknamed Too Late, and has escalated his attempt to fire Federal Reserve Governor Lisa Cook, accusing her of mortgage fraud. On Thursday, the Trump administration asked an appeals court to remove Cook from the Federal Reserves board of governors by Monday, before the central bank announces its next decision on interest rates Wednesday. And Kirk a Christian conservative, staunch supporter of gun rights and critic of the political and cultural elite was emblematic of the way political conversations have increasingly crossed borders. Grief but also angerAuthorities say Kirk was killed by a single shot while taking questions during an outdoor event Wednesday at Utah Valley University. Many people worldwide, regardless of political stripe, expressed dismay at such grisly violence in the midst of a public debate, and politicians across the spectrum denounced the killing.Prime Minister Keir Starmer of Britains left-leaning Labour Party, called it heartbreaking that a young family has been robbed of a father and a husband, adding: We must all be free to debate openly and freely without fear there can be no justification for political violence.Kirk wasnt a household name outside the United States, but he had a fervent following among supporters abroad and a big social-media presence. He spoke in the United Kingdom, Japan and South Korea this year, and his Turning Point USA has international offshoots.In the wake of his killing, many political figures and commentators on the right took aim at their political opponents, calling members of the left the enemy and vowing resistance against their foes. The left is, at all times and in all places, a violent phenomenon filled with hatred, wrote Argentine President Javier Milei, a radical libertarian, on X alongside a photo of him, Trump and Kirk. Milei has repeatedly railed against Socialists, feminists and transgender people and praised Trumps MAGA movement for fighting what he calls woke ideology. In South Africa, the assassination has resonated with white conservative groups who claim that South Africas Black-led government is pursuing an anti-white agenda. The government has strongly rejected those allegations and denounced misinformation from South African and American conservatives as intended to undermine a majority-Black country.Kirk voiced support of Trumps program that offered refugee status in the U.S. to members of South Africas white Afrikaner minority, and said earlier this year that the United States needed more white, Christian South Africans to come. The AfriForum group, an Afrikaner lobby group, held a small vigil for Kirk outside the U.S. Embassy in Pretoria. Its youth wing said his killing was a wake-up call that points to a global intolerance towards conservative thinking. He blamed people like Hillary, Bill Clinton, and Barack Obama for inflaming passions by calling MAGA people Nazis. While many of our past presidents have used times of national crisis as an opportunity to unify and bring the country together, Donald Trump saw the occasion as a way to further divide and incite the nations already wide political fissure.Though Trump never referred to past political violence perpetrated against Democrats, Trump blamed the radical left and the media for Kirks death, for demonizingin the most hateful and despicable way possiblethose they disagree within a video messagefrom the Oval Office.Radical left political violence has hurt too many innocent people and taken too many lives.For years, Trump continued his projection, those on the radical left have compared wonderful Americans like Charlie to Nazis and the worlds worst mass murderers and criminals. This kind of rhetoric is directly responsible for the terrorism that were seeing in our country today, and it must stop right now! Though we continue to blame the epidemic of individual and mass shootings in the United State on, what I believe to be, the side issues of mental illness, political divisions and demonization, grievance, poverty, entitlement, fatherless homes and lack of supervision, violent video games, social media radicalization, the loss of spiritual and religious guidance, and all the other old and worn retreads.Most other nations around the world have these serious issues plaguing their societies as well. The United States, nonetheless, by a huge gap has the highest rate of allWestern countriesthroughout the planet in gun-related deaths: homicides, suicides, and accidents (4.31 deaths per 100,000 people in 2021. That was more than seven times as high as the rate in Canada, which had 0.57 deaths per 100,000 people and about 340 times higher than in the United Kingdom, which had 0.013 deaths per 100,000).With the United States leading every other country on the planet with the highest rate of guns at 120.5 per 100 people, how could anyone expect anything other than the fact that firearms are the leading cause of death in children and adolescents ages 0 to 17? On the day of Charlie Kirks assassination, someone in the U.S. House of Representatives called for the members to take a moment of silence to reflect and pray for Charlie Kirk and his family. While not everyone agreed that this would be appropriate in the House chamber, one thing is perfectly clear: nothing will be done in either the House or the Senate to pass firearms reform in an attempt to lessen the chances of another gun-related political or domestic homicide.What is the reason that many on the political right cannot and will not get out from behind their Second Amendment absolutist bullet-resistant vests and vote for gun-safety reform initiatives that can, and in the past, have saved lives?How many times must we scream into the void, ITS THE GUNS, ITS THE GUNS!! The late long-time Arizona Senator, John McCain, addressed the issue of the great political divide in his final letter to the nation just prior to his death. Though I include only a relatively small quote, you might wish to read theentire document:Fellow Americans,[w]e are citizens of the worlds greatest republic.We weaken our greatness when we confuse our patriotism with rivalries that have sown resentment and hatred and violence in all the corners of the globe. We are 325 million opinionated, vociferous individuals. We argue and compete and sometimes even vilify each other in our raucous public debates.But, we have always had so much more in common with each other than in disagreement. Cherry Hill East administrators accused Francis-Maurer of encouraging the demonstration, which he denies in his complaint, citing clear evidence online that parents and students were organizing the walkout, and placed him on administrative leave. NJ.com reports that parents and students also urged administrators to reinstate Francis-Maurer at a July Cherry Hill Board of Education meeting. According to 70and73, 15 members of the Cherry Hill East math department also sent a letter to Morton in May expressing their belief that Francis-Maurers dismissal was a mistake.Along with reinstatement, back pay, compensatory and punitive damages, and attorney fees, Francis-Maurer is seeking corrective action by the Cherry Hill school district to stop and prevent retaliation at the workplace, according to 70and73. The complaint also characterizes Francis-Maurer as a whistleblower and as such is specifically protected from retaliation by New Jersey law.At its core, this case underscores the essential role of whistleblowers, as plaintiffs protected conduct embodies the vital role that whistleblowers play in upholding accountability and ethics in the workplace, the complaint reads, according to 70and73. Rather than appropriately address plaintiffs concerns, however, the [Cherry Hill Board of Education] defendants disregarded said complaints and instead subjected [Francis-Maurer] to a calculated campaign of targeted retaliation. The Philadelphia Inquirer reports that on Tuesday, a day after Francis-Maurers lawsuit was filed, Cherry Hill East notified parents that Finkle would resign in November.
