And then very happy to finally get another win.”Boutier finished with rounds of 66, 72, and 66 for a 9-under, 204, to beat the second-place golfer, Arpichaya Yubol, by just one stroke.“Feels amazing,” she said. “I definitely feel like I didn’t expect it to come this week, but I feel like my game has been coming around the last few weeks. So, very happy that it came today.”The victory comes with a prize of $300,000, pushing Boutier’s career earnings to $9,504,023 on the LPGA. She also made significant strides in the Race to the CME Globe, moving up from 46th to ninth. The Race to the CME Globe is the LPGA’s season-long points competition. SPORTS.YAHOO.COMLudvig Aberg admits what he really thought of Aaron Rai as a playing partner on Sunday at AroniminkPhoto by Darren Carroll/PGA of America via Getty ImagesLudvig Aberg was paired alongside Aaron Rai during the final round of the PGA Championship last month. Many fancied Aberg to claim his first major, while Rai wasn’t even being spoken about as a potential winner before the event began. However, the Englishman went on to produce some sensational golf down the stretch, playing his final 10 holes in six-under par to win by three from Jon Rahm and Alex Smalley.Ludvig Aberg ended up finishing in a tie for fourth at the PGA Championship, four strokes adrift of the eventual champion, Aaron Rai.Photo by Darren Carroll/PGA of America via Getty ImagesAt the time, Aberg said he was delighted to see Rai win the PGA Championship at the magnificent Aronimink. However, what did the Swede make of the overall experience of playing with the Englishman during the final round of the PGA last month? When Ludvig Aberg really thought Aaron Rai could win at AroniminkAberg was a guest on the Sky Sports Golf Podcast this week, and conversation turned to Rai’s win at Aronimink. The Swede was asked what it was like to witness Rai’s brilliance first hand on Sunday at the PGA.And the 26-year-old opened up on what he thinks of the Englishman, both as a golfer and a person.Photo by David Cannon/Getty Images“It was really cool,“ Aberg responded.“We played pretty similarly the front nine, we were on the same score right around the lead, and then he made a long putt for eagle on nine and it felt like he was getting some momentum.“He made a really good par save on 10 and then made birdie on 11 and you were like okay, here we go.“The way Rai handled the pressure down the stretch at the PGA Championship was seriously impressive, and he deserves all the credit in the world for his performance at Aronimink.Ludvig Aberg seriously impressed by Aaron RaiAberg admitted that winning the PGA Championship could not have happened to a better guy.“What impressed me was the way that he was taking it on,“ he said.“I vividly remember a bunker shot on 13 where he hit it in the front right bunker and most guys would hit it fat, maybe leaving 12 or 15 feet up the hill, but he flew it all the way and made the birdie putt.“He really took the tournament by its hands and won it.That was really cool and it could not happen to a better guy or caddie. So if there was anyone I was going to lose to, I am glad it was him.“Aaron Rai was clearly a very popular winner of the PGA Championship.Aberg wasn’t his only cheerleader, with Xander Schauffele, Jon Rahm and many more of the best players in the world speaking very highly of him after his victory at Aronimink.0 Комментарии 0 Поделились 50 Просмотры 0 предпросмотр

SPORTS.YAHOO.COMWorld Cup co-hosts Mexico lose appeal against Fifa fines for anti-gay chant by fansMexico's football federation has lost its latest appeal against Fifa punishments for an anti-gay chant by fans, just days before the World Cup opens in Mexico City. The Court of Arbitration for Sport (Cas) upheld fines totalling 140,000 Swiss francs ($178,000) but lifted a partial stadium closure sanction. This ruling, part of a decade-long series of disputes between Mexico and Fifa, comes ahead of the men's national team hosting South Africa on 11 June at the iconic Azteca Stadium, a venue where the offensive chant is frequently heard. The one-word slur, meaning "male prostitute" in Spanish, is typically directed at opposing goalkeepers during goal kicks. It gained notoriety at the 2014 World Cup in Brazil and reappeared in Russia in 2018 and Qatar in 2022, despite the federation's educational campaigns and pleas to control the abuse. The Cas case followed Fifa prosecutions for incidents at 2024 matches against Bolivia, Uruguay, Brazil, and the United States. Anti-discrimination monitors, who will also work for FIFA at the 104 World Cup games across Mexico, the US, and Canada, detected the chant during these fixtures.Mexico is getting ready to co-host the World Cup (AFP/Getty)Cas judges, following a March hearing in Miami, acknowledged the Mexican federation's mitigation efforts since 2015 to "educate, prevent and eradicate the chant." However, they noted that "the conduct of the fans was collective and widespread, and not merely a one-off occurrence," according to a Cas statement. While recognising the "unique nature" of the challenge facing Mexican football officials, the court concluded the federation could not escape liability.Mexico is also set to host World Cup group-stage matches against South Korea in Guadalajara and the Czech Republic at Azteca.Mexico have never previously progressed beyond the quarter-finals at the World Cup. They reached this stage in 1970 and 1986, but failed to go any further.During a stretch of seven consecutive World Cups between 1994 and 2018, Mexico exited at the round of 16 stage, while they failed to even make it past the groups four years ago. They managed just one victory in their three group matches in Qatar, and were beaten by eventual champions Argentina.0 Комментарии 0 Поделились 50 Просмотры 0 предпросмотр

SPORTS.YAHOO.COMThunder offseason outlook: Yes, they have a big Chet Holmgren problemIn a shocking turn of events, the Oklahoma City Thunder’s quest to repeat as NBA champions did not come to fruition, falling to the San Antonio Spurs in seven games in the Western Conference finals. We could spend this whole segment discussing Shai Gilgeous-Alexander's MVP season, but instead we have a more pressing subject at hand.Chet Holmgren, Oh Brother, Where Are Thou? The 7-foot-1 center has a 25% max contract extension (five-year, $239 million), which triggers next month, and the overarching question right now is: Will this be a problem for the Thunder?Holmgren not only disappeared in Game 7, taking just two shots, but looked terrified throughout the series.Play 2026 Soccer Pick 'Em with FOX One and make your picks for the world's biggest soccer tournamentAs someone who has watched the NBA, thoroughly, for over 27 years, I have never seen this level of fear in someone's eyes before. Not only did Holmgren get bullied, multiple times, by Julian Champagnie off the dribble, but Holmgren often didn't even look at the rim when guarded by Victor Wembanyama. On the very, very rare occasion he mustered the courage to take a shot, Wembanyama rejected him, claiming his soul in the process. It will take an enormous mental effort from Holmgren to recover from this series, and frankly ... he might not. This felt like a career-defining moment and something that could linger for years.Let's hope that isn't the case.2025-26 finishRecord: 64-18, first in the Western Conference. Lost to the San Antonio Spurs in seven games in the Western Conference finals.Highlight of the seasonWhenever a player wins MVP, that automatically becomes the highlight. Gilgeous-Alexander was phenomenal all year, averaging 31.1 points and 6.6 assists, playing rock-solid defense and being an efficiency darling (66.5 TS%) to claim the honor for the second consecutive season. He’s still in his prime, and as long as OKC has SGA, it has a legit superstar with whom to pursue a title.Players signed for next seasonJalen WilliamsChet HolmgrenShai Gilgeous-AlexanderAlex CarusoIsaiah JoeAaron WigginsJaylin WilliamsCason WallaceNikola TopićThomas SorberJared McCainKey free agentsIsaiah Hartenstein (Team option)Lu Dort (Team option)Projected salary$193,339,150Draft picksNos. 12, 17 & 37Draft focus: The Thunder might be making a few deals on draft night, but if they don't, identifying cheaper replacements for Dort and Hartenstein should be heavily prioritized to optimize their cap sheet. The Thunder are very expensive, and the more inexpensive talent, the better.Roster-building toolsThe Thunder have picks to use in trades, but are almost assuredly capped out, to the point where they'd have to relinquish players in order to have spending power. Moving valuable contributors seems far-fetched, so assume they won't have any significant financial flexibility.Needs and goalsThe goal remains the same: Winning another title. But to do so means leaning into fulfilling some needs, such as optimizing their big man rotation, and perhaps identifying a player who could compete against Wembanyama long-term. SPORTS.YAHOO.COMDid Vaibhav Sooryavanshi deliver the greatest batting campaign in IPL history? For nearly two decades, IPL batting greatness has usually lived in one of two worlds. There was the volume world - the Virat Kohli 2016 model. Pile up mountains of runs, bat through innings, dominate scoreboards and leave behind records that appear untouchable. Then there was the destructive world - the Chris Gayle and Andre Russell model. Bat at outrageous speed, clear ropes for fun, and leave opposition bowlers traumatised. However, nobody was really able to combine the two. That is, until now.Vaibhav Sooryavanshi's IPL 2026 season was so incredible that it forced everyone watching to reconsider the possibilities of what can be achieved even in T20 cricket. The numbers are absurd: 776 runs with a strike-rate of 237.3, laced with 72 sixes - that too at the age of 15.Even individually, each of those numbers is extraordinary. Sooryvanshi’s overall tally this season is the 4th highest in IPL history. The season strike-rate is the highest all-time - that too by a country mile, and the six hitting has shattered a record that stood for over 14 years. And put all those stats together, they may represent the most extreme batting campaign the IPL has ever witnessed. And the strongest argument for that is not merely the records the teenager broke and set - It is the trade-off that he destroyed.Historically, batters who score huge volumes of runs slow down. Batters who score at outrageous strike rates rarely accumulate enough runs to challenge for Orange Caps.Virat Kohli's record-breaking 973-run season in 2016 came at a strike rate of 152.03. Jos Buttler's 857-run campaign in 2022 arrived at 149.3. Shubman Gill's 885-run season in 2023 came at 158.On the other side of the spectrum sit the IPL's great destroyers. Andre Russell's famous 2019 season produced a strike rate of 204, but only 508 runs. Travis Head's 2024 blitz generated a strike rate of 191.5 but only 563 runs. Abhishek Sharma crossed 200 at a strike rate in 2024 but finished with 478 runs.Nobody had occupied both worlds simultaneously, but Sooryavanshi did that this year.He scored 776 runs at a strike rate of 237.3 - numbers that place him alone in the top-right corner of any runs-versus-strike-rate chart in IPL history. No batter has ever scored this many runs this quickly. And that dominance survives every volume test. Among all IPL seasons featuring 400-plus runs, nobody has a higher strike rate and extending that to 500-plus, 600-plus and even 700-plus runs, nobody has a higher strike rate. Then there was the small matter of clearing the boundaries. In a season where the average six-hitting metrics have gone up substantially, Sooryavanshi owned that game. For 14 years, Chris Gayle's 59 sixes in IPL 2012 felt untouchable. Not only did Sooryavanshi break it, but he also obliterated it, hitting 72 sixes and finishing 13 clear of Gayle's mark. Even more remarkable is how quickly they arrived. Gayle required 451 balls to hit 57 sixes in 2012, while Sooryavanshi launched 72 sixes from just 327 deliveries. He hit a six every 4.5 balls. Only Russell's 2019 season comes remotely close at one six every 4.9 balls. The IPL has seen better accumulators, It has seen comparable power hitters. It has never seen one batter sustain both across an entire season.Nearly 89.3% of Sooryavanshi's runs came through boundaries. For context, Kohli's legendary 2016 campaign generated only 57.8% of runs through boundaries. Even Gayle's peak 2012 season sits at 73.1% and Russell's 2019 season reached 85.4%.Sooryavanshi surpassed all of them. Simply put, almost nine out of every ten runs he scored came from fours and sixes.Another remarkable feature of Sooryavanshi’s game this season was how fast he took the game away from the opposition. Most batters accelerate after beginning cautiously, but Sooryavanshi arrived in the middle already operating at maximum velocity. His powerplay strike rate was 233. Again, for context, Travis Head's celebrated 2024 powerplay season produced a strike rate of 196.9. Abhishek Sharma's 2024 powerplay strike rate was 193.8, and add to the fact that the powerplay strike rate was higher than the overall strike rates of almost every great IPL season ever played. The first 10-ball sample tells a similar story. Head's first-10-ball strike rate in 2024 was 178. Abhishek's was 208. Sooryavanshi's was 224.And here is the fun fact: Sooryavanshi's powerplay SR (233) exceeds Russell's 2019 death-overs SR (238).And it was not a case of Sooryavanshi getting on top of the weakest link in the opposition’s bowling attack; his victims included some of the finest fast bowlers of the era.Against Pat Cummins, he scored 38 runs from just 12 balls at a strike rate of 316.7, including five sixes. Against Jasprit Bumrah, he struck 13 runs from five deliveries and cleared the ropes twice. To Rabada, he struck at nearly 180 strike rate. This was a teenager attacking World Cup winners, Test captains and elite international fast bowlers with complete disregard for reputation. As per TOI Data Desk’s composite index measuring four elements: runs, strike rate, sixes and average, Sooryavanshi’s season was not just an outlier; it was unbelievable.Sooryavanshi scored 87.7, while Virat Kohli's iconic 2016 season scored 76.4. Chris Gayle's 2012 campaign scored 73.5 and Jos Buttler's 2022 season scored 71.8.Even after testing alternative weighting systems, Sooryavanshi remained either the clear leader or effectively tied for first. Only when the model was heavily tilted towards pure run accumulation did Kohli begin to close the gap.Yes, Kohli still owns the run record, and his average of 80.5 remains extraordinary. And unlike Sooryavanshi, he carried his team all the way to the final. But if the question is which batter produced the most extreme combination of volume, speed and power across a single IPL season, the evidence points overwhelmingly in one direction. The IPL has seen bigger run tallies, It has seen cleaner six-hitters. What it had never seen before 2026 was a player score nearly 800 runs while striking at 237 and smashing 72 sixes. For 18 seasons, volume and violence existed separately. Vaibhav Sooryavanshi merged them, and that is why his IPL campaign 2026 may be one of the greatest batting seasons ever.0 Комментарии 0 Поделились 50 Просмотры 0 предпросмотр

SPORTS.YAHOO.COMVancouver Canucks hire Manny Malhotra as head coachVANCOUVER, British Columbia — Manny Malhotra was hired as coach of the Vancouver Canucks. The former Canucks forward takes over for Adam Foote, who was fired after Vancouver finished last in the NHL during his only season behind the bench.Malhotra becomes the 23rd head coach in franchise history and the latest Canucks player to be promoted by the team as it begins its rebuild.“Manny and I have been in the battle together before, so I know firsthand what a good teacher, leader, and quality person he is,” general manager Ryan Johnson said in a statement. The pair previously worked together in the minors with the American Hockey League’s Abbotsford Canucks.“Manny is a great coach who has the right skill set and mentality to help players develop and get better each day,” Johnson said. “We both believe that pressure is a privilege, and learning to become a good pro takes patience, dedication and a ‘be better than yesterday’ mindset.”Foote was fired on May 19 after the Canucks went 25-49-8 last season. Malhotra immediately emerged as a prime candidate to replace him, with Johnson saying he would sit down with the 46-year-old former NHL player and “talk about the future.”Malhotra previously served as a development coach and an assistant coach for the Canucks, then spent four seasons as an assistant with the Toronto Maple Leafs before becoming Abbotsford’s head coach. There, he guided the AHL team to a Calder Cup championship during the 2024-25 campaign. The club then missed the playoffs last season as several players dealt with long-term injuries. It was the way Malhotra led Abbotsford through a challenging year that showed exactly the kind of coach and person he is, Johnson said.“To see that when you can rely on the foundation of the consistent environment and the coaching through the worst of times and really continue to propel players forward, even though the wins and losses aren’t there, it tells you a lot about him,” he said.“That entire staff showed that they’re champions based off of not the year before, but of what they did last year, and what people around them took out of a pretty tough season.”The promotion reunites Malhotra with former teammates Daniel and Henrik Sedin, who were named Vancouver’s co-presidents of hockey operations on May 14.Malhotra, from Ontario, spent 16 seasons playing in the NHL after getting drafted by the New York Rangers in 1998.He had 116 goals and 295 points in 991 regular-season games with Vancouver, New York, the Dallas Stars, Columbus Blue Jackets, San Jose Sharks, Montreal Canadiens and Carolina Hurricanes.Malhotra took a puck to the face while playing for the Canucks in March 2011, an injury that left him with limited vision in his left eye. He missed much of the team’s run to the Stanley Cup Final that year and was given a reduced role the following season.“He loves the game and getting to know what makes his players tick, and I am very confident Manny will help us ice a competitive and hard-working team that our fans will be proud of moving forward,” Johnson said.0 Комментарии 0 Поделились 50 Просмотры 0 предпросмотр

SPORTS.YAHOO.COMChasing 142, Ireland beat West Indies by 1 run despite scoring just 99 in dramatic T20I; here's howIreland moved to the top of the Women's T20I Tri-Nation Series table after securing a one-run win over West Indies via the DLS method in the fourth match at Clontarf. The result came after rain brought Ireland's chase to an early end, with the hosts just ahead on the DLS score when play was stopped. The victory followed Ireland's win over Pakistan on Sunday and marked their first-ever T20I win against West Indies.West Indies posted 141 for 8 in their 20 overs after being asked to bat. Orla Prendergast picked up 2 for 26, including the wickets of Aaliyah Alleyne and Zaida James in the closing stages. Ava Canning was Ireland's most effective bowler, returning figures of 2 for 11 from four overs and removing Hayley Matthews and Qiana Joseph early in the innings.West Indies were reduced to 53 for 5 at one stage, with Stafanie Taylor retiring hurt on nine. A 44-run partnership between Shemaine Campbelle (21) and Jannillea Glasgow (36) helped them recover and reach 141 for 8.Ireland's chase got off to a poor start as Shawnisha Hector struck twice in the opening over, leaving the hosts two wickets down almost immediately. Prendergast then took control of the innings with an unbeaten 71 off 46 balls, hitting 11 fours and a six.Her innings accounted for nearly 72 per cent of Ireland's runs and kept the chase on track despite wickets falling at the other end. Ireland slipped to 5 down in 10.3 overs, but Prendergast continued to score freely and added a sixth-wicket stand with Louise Little.Little struggled initially, scoring just five runs from her first seven deliveries, but she produced a crucial boundary at the start of the 15th over. That shot took Ireland to 99 for 5 after 14.1 overs, moving them past the DLS par score of 98.Rain then halted play and the match could not be resumed. As Ireland were one run ahead on DLS at the time, they were declared winners.Ireland and West Indies now both have two wins from three matches in the series, while Pakistan remain without a victory after two games. SPORTS.YAHOO.COMWorld Cup rocked by spot-fixing allegations with two players reportedTwo FIFA World Cup players have been accused of spot-fixing -Credit:Noushad Thekkayil/NurPhoto via Getty ImagesTwo FIFA World Cup players have been referred to authorities over alleged spot-fixing concerns following controversial yellow card incidents that prompted investigations. The 2026 World Cup is set to become one of the most-watched sporting events in history, drawing billions of viewers globally and generating massive betting activity across international markets. With bookmakers and prediction platforms offering wagers on everything from the next goalscorer to the tournament winner, integrity experts have sounded the alarm over the escalating threat of spot-fixing.Unlike conventional match-fixing, spot-fixing involves manipulating specific incidents within a soccer game — such as yellow cards, corners, or throw-ins — without necessarily influencing the final result, as per The Mirror US. The vast sums being wagered on these micro-events have intensified fears that players and officials could be targeted by criminal betting syndicates looking to exploit the betting market.FIFA boss Gianni Infantino stands by $2 million World Cup tickets with hot dog promiseBudget-friendly Costco faces backlash with $39,100 FIFA World Cup ticket packageSpot-fixing refers to specific incidents within games that may not inherently impact the result -Credit:Maja Hitij/Getty ImagesThe Athletic reports that at least two World Cup players, representing different nations, have been referred by independent integrity experts to the national federations of their respective club teams amid suspicions of spot-fixing.One of the cases, which occurred earlier this season, involves allegations that a player deliberately collected a yellow card in a league game in order to trigger a suspension to be served ahead of a major upcoming derby, thereby guaranteeing his availability for that fixture. However, the scheme is understood to have been extensively discussed beforehand, leading to unusually elevated betting activity on the booking market. That surge in wagers activated alerts in monitoring systems, with the incident and related betting patterns later reported to the appropriate national federation. The second case was identified last month following reports from two bookmakers of suspicious betting conduct. Bets were placed on a player receiving a first-half booking in a league fixture, where he was later cautioned after committing three fouls in fewer than five minutes. A source, speaking on condition of anonymity, confirmed the matter had been forwarded to the integrity unit of the appropriate national federation. To listen to the latest episode of 'All Out Soccer' - CLICK HEREWhen asked whether match-fixing concerns had been raised prior to the tournament, FIFA responded: "FIFA has a zero-tolerance policy against match manipulation and provides a dedicated, highly secure and web-based whistleblowing system so that individuals can report any form or knowledge of potential match manipulation or integrity-related misconduct."Recent months have witnessed a string of high-profile integrity investigations across global sport. The NBA was rocked in November when an FBI investigation led to 34 individuals being charged in connection with alleged illegal gambling schemes, among them current players and coaches, including Chauncey Billups, Damon Jones, Terry Rozier, and Jontay Porter. In mid-January, federal prosecutors further charged 26 men over an alleged conspiracy to fix college basketball games. In a separate development, also in November, Cleveland Guardians pitchers Emmanuel Clase and Luis Ortiz faced accusations of accepting bribes to manipulate their pitching. All parties implicated have denied any wrongdoing.0 Комментарии 0 Поделились 50 Просмотры 0 предпросмотр

SPORTS.YAHOO.COMGolden Knights and Hurricanes built their Stanley Cup Final teams in different waysRALEIGH, N.C. — On the eve of the Stanley Cup Final between the Vegas Golden Knights and Carolina Hurricanes, one of the general managers involved laid out his thinking when making roster moves.“We want to be aggressive off the ice,” the GM said. “When you have a chance to add really high-end players, we never want to miss out on it.”While the Golden Knights under Kelly McCrimmon deservedly have earned their reputation for going after every high-end player available, that sentiment came from Carolina’s Eric Tulsky, whose team generally has been considered far more selective. The Hurricanes have taken bigger leaps since Tulsky took over two years ago, but his challenge has been finding particular players who fit coach Rod Brind’Amour’s demanding style. The Golden Knights have added one big star after another, in the name of trying to win it all for a second time in less than a decade of existence. One approach will end with hoisting the Cup.“It probably should be more fun than we appreciate in the moment,” McCrimmon said. “We have made a lot of big decisions over our time in the league — very bold. I always say that to be big or bold is one thing. You’ve got to make good decisions, and I think that we’ve collectively through our hockey ops have done a good job of that. It’s exhilarating to win.”Building the HurricanesSix Carolina players were drafted and developed, including No. 1 defenseman Jaccob Slavin, top-line forwards Seth Jarvis, Sebastian Aho and Andrei Svechnikov, and young building-block winger Jackson Blake.Starting goaltender Frederik Andersen was a free-agent signing, and second-liners Taylor Hall and Logan Stankoven were acquired in trades. Tulsky, a Harvard graduate with a Ph.D. in chemistry from the University of California at Berkeley, worked under previous GM Don Waddell and pieced the rest of the puzzle together himself.McCrimmon pointed to Waddell as a positive influence and complimented his counterpart for smart draft picks and trades.“They’ve consistently been building their team, and they’ve done it different ways,” McCrimmon said. “Looking at it from the outside, they’ve been aggressive in their way of doing that. They have an idea what they want it to look like, the type of players that their organization will make good use of and they go out and get those guys.”Sometimes those guys do not fit. One of the big gambles Tulsky made came in January 2025 when he gave up young forwards Martin Necas and Jack Drury in a three-way trade that landed the Hurricanes big winger Mikko Rantanen and the veteran Hall.Rantanen was not interested in re-signing, so Tulsky explored options and flipped him to Dallas for young Logan Stankoven and picks.“Sometimes it doesn’t go the way you hoped, and you’ve got to be ready to figure out how you’re going to move forward from there,” Tulsky said. “One of the strengths of our organization is we’re not afraid to take those swings, but we’re confident that if we just keep staying aggressive, some will work out, some won’t (and) we’ll end up ahead of where we would be if we just stayed passive the whole time.”Stankoven, free-agent signing Nikolaj Ehlers and other additions like Eric Robinson and Mark Jankowski have fit Brind’Amour’s mold like a glove. Tulsky was a hockey blogger before moving into management and he thinks analytically but also credits his staff for talent evaluation to play for this coach.“We’ve really focused on finding people who fit the way we want to play,” Tulsky said. “We ask players to play a very distinctive style, and our scouts have done a great job finding players who can come in and look their best playing the way Rod needs them to play.”Building the Golden KnightsFrom the start, Vegas was built to win. Original GM George McPhee aced the expansion draft, from picking players from the other 30 teams in the league to making side deals that brought even more talent into the fold. The initial bunch delivered an unexpected trip to the final during the club’s inaugural season in 2017-18, with goaltender Marc-Andre Fleury the backbone of a group that included forwards William Karlsson and Reilly Smith and defensemen Shea Theodore and Brayden McNabb. Karlsson, Theodore and McNabb have been around the entire time, and Smith returned after a brief absence.Along the way, McPhee and McCrimmon never shied away from making big moves. They made trades for Mark Stone, Jack Eichel, Tomas Hertl and Noah Hanifin, signed Alex Pietrangelo and made a sign-and-trade for Mitch Marner.“We appreciate how George and Kelly operate,” McNabb said. “They’re always trying to build a winning team, and they’ve done a great job for the nine years.”The Golden Knights have made the playoffs in eight of them, won the Cup in 2023 and consistently been championship contenders.“It’s a privilege,” McCrimmon said. “We don’t take it for granted. We work real hard. You have to get lucky along the way at times, also. That’s kind of been our objective right from the opening season.”McNabb said McCrimmon is doing his job. There are no complaints from players about Vegas going big-game shopping all the time.“I don’t know if he’s in on every player, but he’s trying to make the team better and that’s what you want and you appreciate,” McNabb said. “You want to be on a team that’s trying to get better and have the best team going into playoffs and performing in playoffs.”0 Комментарии 0 Поделились 50 Просмотры 0 предпросмотр

WWW.LGBTQNATION.COMGOP accused James Talarico of making up a girlfriend to hide that he’s gay. She’s real & is an ally.Republicans have (very maturely) accused Texas state Rep. James Talarico, the Democratic Senate candidate from Texas, of lying about having a girlfriend to hide the fact that he is gay. But the media has since identified the girlfriend as 30-year-old Brianna Menard, Talarico’s former chief of staff. Related Ken Paxton’s first campaign ad calls James Talarico “too low-T” while avoiding policy issues Talarico initially tried to keep Menard’s name out of the public eye to protect her safety. “What I’m trying to do is protect her and my family and my friends from the impacts of this race,” Talarico told the San Antonio Current in May after calling his girlfriend his “rock” and “best friend.” Insights for the LGBTQ+ community Subscribe to our briefing for insights into how politics impacts the LGBTQ+ community and more. Subscribe to our Newsletter today “I signed up to run for the U.S. Senate; obviously, they did not. So, I’m trying to balance running this race while also protecting them, and protecting her in particular.” He did reveal in that conversation that they had been together for four years and met while she was his chief of staff. He also said that she left the role once their relationship became romantic. Menard, a registered lobbyist, is the director of TEXPAC, a nonpartisan branch of the Texas Medical Association that works to elect “medicine-friendly” candidates at all levels. The Texas Medical Association supports gender-affirming care and champions nondiscrimination policies for LGBTQ+ people in health care spaces. In her bio for the co-op, where she serves as secretary, Menard describes herself as a “committed vegan” who loves yoga and her “purrfect cat Zia.” Talarico’s opponent, Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton (R), and other Republicans have attacked the Democratic candidate by accusing him of being vegan, even though he is not. Talarico has since mocked the GOP for seemingly having nothing else to criticize him for. “I’m an eighth-generation Texan,” Talarico said in a May interview with MeidasTouch podcaster Ben Meiselas before quipping: “I’ve been eating barbecue since before Ken Paxton’s first indictment.” “If all they have on me is lying about me being a vegan, I feel pretty good about our chances this November.” Talarico’s response drew attention to Paxton’s long history of scandals, which started in 2008 when he was accused of failing to disclose investments in companies that had contracts with the state when he was in the Texas House of Representatives. Menard also included in her bio that she loves to dance at Cheer Up Charlies, a queer-owned vegan bar in Austin. When asked about his girlfriend’s identity being revealed, Talarico told a reporter that “this is what people hate about politics.” “I signed up to run for the U.S. Senate. My girlfriend did not. My family members did not,” he said. “I hope that we can keep this race focused on what matters—my record and my plans for the people of Texas.” "This is what people hate about politics" – @jamestalarico on seeing his love life splashed across the internet the last few days pic.twitter.com/DFFnVxmvxo— Scott Braddock (@scottbraddock) May 31, 2026 Subscribe to the LGBTQ Nation newsletter and be the first to know about the latest headlines shaping LGBTQ+ communities worldwide.0 Комментарии 0 Поделились 50 Просмотры 0 предпросмотр -

(AP Photo/Alex Brandon)2026-06-02T17:00:53Z President Donald Trump signed an executive order on artificial intelligence Tuesday, less than two weeks after postponing a White House ceremony over his concerns that a similar policy could dull America’s edge on AI technology. The order establishes a framework for the federal government to vet the national security risks of the most advanced AI systems for up to a month before their public release. The government will be able to work with trusted partners “that will have early access to covered frontier models to promote secure innovation and strengthen the cybersecurity of critical infrastructure,” the order says.It was not immediately clear to what extent the order differed from the one he declined to sign on May 21.Trump canceled an Oval Office event with tech industry executives last month because he did not like what he saw in the earlier version of the order’s text. “We’re leading China, we’re leading everybody, and I don’t want to do anything that’s going to get in the way of that lead,” Trump told reporters at the time. That directive was characterized as a voluntary collaboration with participating U.S.-based tech companies, including Anthropic, OpenAI and Google. SPORTS.YAHOO.COMPackers RB Josh Jacobs returns to practice amidst ongoing legal investigationGreen Bay Packers running back Josh Jacobs reported to OTAs on Tuesday and joined in on team drills. Jacobs has spent some time away from the team this offseason due to an off-the-field legal investigation. He was initially investigated on May 23, 2026. The running back was then arrested on May 26 and charged on five different counts related to domestic abuse. Jacobs was in police custody for about 24 hours before he was released on May 27. The running back remains under investigation. The office said there is a distinction between the evidence thresholds for arrest and charging. The threshold for arrest is “probable cause,” while charges would require evidence of a crime “beyond a reasonable doubt.”The DA’s office added that, based on the evidence at the time, they were not ready to make a formal charging decision. The office requested an additional formal investigation into the matter. Head coach Matt LaFleur briefly addressed the situation Tuesday morning, saying Jacobs would be practicing and that it is “business as usual.”The league is aware of the situation and has been in contact with the Packers. Green Bay released a statement acknowledging that the investigation was ongoing and that it had no further comment at the time. Jacobs has been in the NFL for seven years. He began his career with the Las Vegas Raiders, spending five seasons with the franchise. The running back hit free agency after the 2023 NFL season and signed a four-year, $48 million contract with the Packers. He is through two years of the deal.0 Комментарии 0 Поделились 50 Просмотры 0 предпросмотр

SPORTS.YAHOO.COMColts announce contracts for two remaining unsigned rookies of 2026 draft classPITTSBURGH, PENNSYLVANIA - APRIL 22: A general view of the Indianapolis Colts sign in the tunnel during the NFL football draft at Acrisure Stadium on April 22, 2026 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. (Photo by Michael Owens/Getty Images) | Getty Images The Indianapolis Colts announced that the team has reached an agreement with a pair of unsigned rookies: Kentucky offensive guard Jalen Farmer and Oregon linebacker Bryce Boettcher: we have signed G Jalen Farmer and LB Bryce Boettcher.— Indianapolis Colts (@Colts) June 2, 2026This means that the club’s entire 8-man rookie draft class of 2026 has now been safely signed, during the team’s 2nd week of OTAs and before the team’s mandatory minicamp begins next week on June 9th. As a 4th round draft pick of the Colts, the 6’5”, 312 pound Farmer played for Kentucky the past two seasons, having transferred from the University of Florida. He made 12 starts for the Wildcats last season and is considered a powerful and physical run blocker in the ground game. He’ll need to continue to refine his pass blocking technique to become a full-time starter along the Colts offensive line, but has untapped physical upside. Farmer is expected to compete this offseason for the Colts starting right guard job with incumbent Matt Goncalves and also serve as a potential swing-tackle in a pinch next season. Meanwhile, Boettcher is another 4th round pick of the Colts this year, who at 6,’1”, 230 pounds was a former 13th round MLB Draft Pick of the Houston Astros—showcasing his overall athleticism as a high-end two-sport athlete. He made 15 starts for the Oregon Ducks last season, earning First-Team All-American and 2nd-Team All-Big Ten honors (*the latter for a consecutive season). He’s expected to push for a potential starting linebacker job, and at the very least, with his speed, agility, and instincts in space, could be deployed situationally as a subpackage linebacker in pass coverage—even as a rookie. He should provide much needed toughness and competitiveness to the 2nd-level of the Colts defense and potentially on special teams—should he not earn a 1st-Team defense starting spot.0 Комментарии 0 Поделились 50 Просмотры 0 предпросмотр -

After letting quarterback Sam Darnold walk away to Seattle off the heels of a 14-3 campaign in 2024, they fell to a disappointing 9-8 in 2025.Their quarterback conundrum has bled into 2026, headlined by competition between 2019 first-round pick Kyler Murray and 2024 10th overall pick J.J McCarthy. SPORTS.YAHOO.COMEx-Devils GM Loses Out on Anticipated Role in Shocking TwistEx-New Jersey Devils General Manager Tom Fitzgerald will not land the anticipated role as GM of the Nashville Predators. The Predators’ prolonged hunt for new hockey leadership took a decisive turn with the expected arrival of Chris MacFarland from the Colorado Avalanche in a shocking departure.Elliotte Friedman reported on Tuesday that sources indicated the team is closing in on hiring the 56-year-old executive for the role of President of Hockey Operations and General Manager, a move that effectively closes the door on other prominent candidates. It’s been anticipated that Fitzgerald had emerged as one of the frontrunners for the position. After fired him in favor of Sunny Mehta, Fitzgerald—a onetime Predators captain—looked like a natural fit to succeed soon ex-GM Barry Trotz. However, MacFarland’s sudden availability changed everythingMacFarland’s Avalanche just bowed out of the semi-final of the 2026 Stanley Cup Playoffs against the Vegas Golden Knights. He helped construct Colorado’s 2022 Stanley Cup winner and managed stars such as Nathan MacKinnon and Cale Makar, bringing proven success at the highest level. The Predators clearly view the move as a significant upgrade over Trotz and a better choice to the ex-Devils GM, offering him an elevated position with greater autonomy than his current Avalanche setup as GM under Colorado President Joe Sakic. With MacFarland poised to take the top job, Fitzgerald’s path to the role has evaporated and a role for him moving forward is unclear. In a statement following MacFarland’s departure from Colorado, Sakic provided the following statement:“We would like to thank Chris for all he did for the Avalanche organization. Chris was instrumental in our success over the last decade and a key part of our 2022 Stanley Cup championship. This was an opportunity for him to take on a bigger role with the Predators while being closer to his family. We wish him and his family all the best in Nashville.”“(Avalanche President) Joe Sakic will resume the General Manager duties for the foreseeable future, including through this month’s draft and the start of the league year. In Joe’s previous stint as GM, he helped build the current roster and led us to the 2022 Stanley Cup. We are confident in Joe’s leadership and that we will continue to build upon our recent success as we seek to bring another Cup back to Colorado.”0 Комментарии 0 Поделились 50 Просмотры 0 предпросмотр

SPORTS.YAHOO.COMCleveland sports media react to Mike Gansey leaving Cavs for SixersThe Philadelphia 76ers have a new President of Basketball Operations in the form of Mike Gansey. The former 2006 All Big East Team member with West Virginia played professionally overseas before heading over to the Cleveland Cavaliers to work in their front office. He worked hard and was promoted to the team's GM in 2022 before the Sixers brought him over to Philadelphia.Gansey was instrumental in identifying talent for the Cavaliers as he was able to help facilitate the additions of Sam Merrill and Max Strus as well as finding diamonds in the rough such as Dean Wade, Craig Porter Jr., and others. He will look to bring that eye for talent to Philadelphia and help the Sixers climb the ladder in the East.Cleveland sports radio hosts Nick Wilson and Jonathan Peterlin gave their thoughts to the Cavs losing Gansey to the Sixes as there seems to be a somber mood in Cleveland:It’s awesome for Mike Gansey. It stinks for the Cavs. A lot of people really think the world of Mike Gansey.🚨 BREAKING NEWS 🚨@NickWilsonSays and @JPeterlin react to #Cavs GM Mike Gansey leaving to join the #76ers organization 🏀 https://t.co/ZKxCV60zinpic.twitter.com/n9TMmOAlk6— 92.3 The Fan (@923TheFan) May 29, 2026Gansey enters an interesting situation in Philadelphia. WWW.LGBTQNATION.COMMore Americans believe the earth is flat than approve of Trump’s quest to put his name on buildingsCNN chief data analyst Harry Enten detailed for viewers yesterday just how much Americans loathe Trump’s quest to name government buildings after himself. “Stop it, just stop it,” Enten said, explaining that only nine percent of Americans find it acceptable for the president to put his name on a government building while in office. 50 percent say it’s never acceptable, and 21 percent say it’s only okay after he leaves office. Related Trump’s latest check-up has this doctor wondering what’s really happening: “A few questions…” Enten’s segment came after a judge ruled last week that the president must remove his name from the Kennedy Center after he added it without Congressional approval. “The American people, simply put, are not with it,” Enten said. Insights for the LGBTQ+ community Subscribe to our briefing for insights into how politics impacts the LGBTQ+ community and more. Subscribe to our Newsletter today He then put the numbers in perspective, explaining that more Americans (10 percent) believe the earth is flat than support putting Trump’s name on buildings. More Americans (12 percent) also believe the moon landing was faked. “So fewer Americans think it’s acceptable right now to put President Trump’s name on government buildings than believe two conspiracy theories… When you’re lower than that, you know that you’re doing something quite, quite unpopular.” Enten also shared that only one in three Americans believes Trump is focused enough on the issues that matter. “The clear majority, the supermajority… 68 percent, say, ‘ no, he’s not focused enough,’ and that is why his approval rating has been falling in the 30s in multiple polls, because he’s focused on the wrong issues.” “Focus on inflation, focus on the economy,” Enten concluded, “and then maybe your approval ratings will actually get above 40 percent.” Subscribe to the LGBTQ Nation newsletter and be the first to know about the latest headlines shaping LGBTQ+ communities worldwide.0 Комментарии 0 Поделились 50 Просмотры 0 предпросмотр -

SPORTS.YAHOO.COM'Unexpected' but accepted: Cricket Canada breaks silence on ICC suspension; promises governance overhaulCricket Canada has described the ICC's decision to suspend its membership as "unexpected" and said it has already begun taking corrective steps to address the governance and financial issues identified by the sport's global governing body. The ICC suspended Cricket Canada with immediate effect following its Board meeting in Ahmedabad on Sunday, citing what it called "serious breaches" of membership obligations. At the same time, the ICC clarified that Canadian national teams would remain eligible to participate in ICC events so that players are not affected by the governance issues.Reacting to the decision, Cricket Canada said it respected the ruling and remained committed to meeting all requirements set by the ICC."The suspension was unexpected. Nevertheless, Cricket Canada respects the ICC's decision and is fully committed to meeting all compliance requirements. The Board has directed the Committee to accelerate its investigative and reform mandate to ensure that governance, financial oversight, and reporting systems are strengthened without delay," Cricket Canada said in a statement to Sportsnet, as quoted by news agency PTI.The governing body said it had already started implementing measures after receiving communication from the ICC."Since receiving ICC's notice, Cricket Canada has undertaken immediate, comprehensive, and structured corrective measures to remedy the governance, financial oversight, and administrative deficiencies identified in the ICC's correspondence," it said in the statement.Cricket Canada added that it takes the ICC's concerns seriously and remains focused on improving governance standards while continuing to support the development of cricket in the country. The suspension comes as the ICC continues to investigate allegations of corruption involving Cricket Canada. The allegations were highlighted in the CBC documentary Corruption, Crime and Cricket earlier this year.Cricket Canada said it operates under the ICC's anti-corruption framework and remains compliant with the applicable requirements of the governing body. It also said that any conclusions should be based on verified facts and due process.Canada, an ICC associate member, took part in the T20 World Cup held in India earlier this year.Explaining its decision, the ICC said on Monday: "In taking this decision, the ICC Board was mindful of the importance of protecting the interests of Canadian players and ensuring they are not disadvantaged by the governance issues affecting the national governing body."Accordingly, Canadian national representative teams will continue to be eligible to participate in ICC events during the period of suspension."The ICC will now provide Cricket Canada with a list of conditions that must be met to address the governance and administrative shortcomings identified by the Board.Progress on those conditions will be monitored by the ICC Normalisation Committee. Cricket Canada's membership will be reinstated only when the ICC Board is satisfied that all requirements have been fulfilled.0 Комментарии 0 Поделились 50 Просмотры 0 предпросмотр

SPORTS.YAHOO.COMAlexander Zverev would never trade his Olympic gold for a Grand Slam titlePARIS (AP) — Alexander Zverev has lost three Grand Slam finals but would never swap a victory in one of those for the Olympic gold medal he owns. The big-serving German won the men's singles at the Tokyo Olympics in 2021 to go with the 24 titles he's won on the ATP tour. After reaching the French Open semifinals on Tuesday, beating Spaniard Rafael Jodar 7-6 (3), 6-1, 6-3, Zverev was asked if he would ever trade his gold for an elusive major if he could do so.“No chance. The gold medal for me is the most difficult thing to win, because you get a chance once every four years,” Zverev said. “You do it for your country. You do it for the people back home. I will never trade my gold medal for anything, but I wouldn’t mind to add a few things to my list as well.”Like a major title, for example. He has never won one despite reaching three finals — leading in two — and getting to at least two semifinals at every Grand Slam except Wimbledon, where he has not been past the fourth round. The most notable loss at a championship decider was the first, when he wasted a two-set lead in the 2020 US Open final against Austrian Dominic Thiem. Defeat was even more galling because Thiem became the first man in 71 years to win that tournament after dropping the opening two sets. Then, Zverev led 2-1 in sets against Spaniard Carlos Alcaraz in the 2024 French Open final, and lost that one, too. He was resoundingly beaten in straight sets by Italian Jannik Sinner in the 2025 Australian Open final. But with Alcaraz missing the French Open because of a wrist injury and Sinner eliminated in the second round followed by Novak Djokovic in the third round, the second-seeded Zverev's chances have greatly improved at Roland Garros.“I feel like the draw opened up a lot on the top half,” the 29-year-old Zverev said. “Of course, with Joao Fonseca beating Djokovic, it’s a big match that opened up the draw.”Zverev's semifinal opponent will be the winner of Tuesday's later quarterfinal between the 19-year-old Brazilian Fonseca and the 20-year-old Czech Jakub Mensik.“We have fantastic players that are young on the tour right now; we have a lot of potential,” Zverev said. “I have to trust myself, trust my game.”___AP tennis: https://apnews.com/hub/tennis0 Комментарии 0 Поделились 50 Просмотры 0 предпросмотр

SPORTS.YAHOO.COMDaytona Tortugas notebook: Reviewing the first two months, plus a cool MLB storyThe Daytona Tortugas haven’t found a consistent winning recipe yet.Through the first two months of the season, their lineup sits dead last in the Florida State League in runs scored, and their pitching staff holds the same position in runs allowed.Mix that together, and it results in a cellar-dwelling 18-33 record. Daytona resides six games behind the third-place St. Lucie Mets and 11 games behind the first-place Palm Beach Cardinals in the FSL East Division. The Tortugas fell into an early hole. Following an Opening Day win on April 2, they dropped their next six games and never rebounded. They closed the month with seven wins and 17 losses.Jacob Friend provided the bright spot. The 23-year-old captured the league’s Player of the Month award, pacing everyone in total bases, slugging percentage and OPS through the first four weeks. He also ranked second in home runs and doubles.May brought a few encouraging signs.Friend continued to produce, slotting second in the FSL in RBIs and OPS, and Daytona rattled off four straight victories to kick off the month. That’s its best win streak so far.The Tortugas slumped again in the middle of May, finishing 11-16. But they ended it by splitting a six-game series with the Tampa Tarpons. It marked their first split of the year after losing seven of their first eight series. Against Tampa, Daytona also swept its first doubleheader in three tries this season. So that’s where it stands. Not a great start. But a whole lot of baseball — three-plus months — to go.Bernard Moon leads the FSL in two key statsEntering June 2, three Tortugas perched atop FSL leaderboards.Bernard Moon paced the league in games played (50) and at-bats (191). The next closest player to him in each category also represents Daytona: Rafhlmil Torres appeared in 49 games, and Kyle Henley had 189 at-bats.In his second full season with the Tortugas, Moon is batting .246 with 15 doubles, five home runs and 26 RBIs. The 21-year-old Atlanta native has seen time at second base, left field and designated hitter. Also in his second campaign in Daytona, Drew Davies has been an on-base machine. His .451 OBP leads the league after he strengthened it with two hits in three at-bats against the Tarpons on May 31. Davies carries a .280 batting average while often manning first base or right field.Daytona pitcher Stharlin Torres is also tied for the most home runs given up in the FSL this season. His eight rivals only the eight of Bradenton’s Levi Sterling.Tortugas alum Tejay Antone writes one of baseball’s coolest stories in 2026Tommy John surgeries have become common. After undergoing the elbow procedure once, pitchers often come back looking as crisp as before their injuries. If a hurler has two Tommy Johns, things get dicier. And three? Well, you’ll just have to trust Tejay Antone. The Cincinnati Reds’ right-hander, who suited up for the Tortugas in 2016, is writing a book called “The Tommy John Protocol.” He had his third surgery in 2024 and made it back to the big leagues on May 6.Jonny Venters and Jason Isringhausen are believed to be the only other pitchers to return to MLB after three TJs.Through his first nine appearances, Antone posted a 5.19 ERA. He earned his first save in five years during a May 15 outing against the Cleveland Guardians.Daytona Tortugas schedule update: Dunedin trip continuesThe Tortugas remain on the road through June 7. They’ll play the Dunedin Blue Jays each evening through Saturday and then wrap up the series at noon Sunday. After an off day June 8, Daytona returns to the friendly confines of Jackie Robinson Ballpark for six matchups with the Jupiter Hammerheads. Clark/ISI Photos/USSF/Getty ImagesWorld Cup managers will be able to use laptops to give tactical instructions during water breaks, giving coaches a new in-game route to influence matches in 2026.Mauricio Pochettino and other national team head coaches have been given approval to use laptops during World Cup water breaks, with the United States manager already making use of the approach.FIFA has confirmed that every 2026 World Cup match will include one three-minute hydration break in each half, with the measure introduced as part of its player welfare planning.Mauricio Pochettino used a MacBook during USA vs SenegalPhoto by Terence Lewis/Icon Sportswire via Getty ImagesPochettino used the first of two three-minute breaks during a friendly against Senegal to gather his players around a MacBook screen in the dugout. The moment showed how the breaks can become more than a pause for fluids. They can also give coaches a short, structured period to deliver visual tactical information during a match.Pochettino is leading the United States at the 2026 World Cup, making his use of the method especially relevant before the tournament begins.FIFA water breaks now carry a tactical edgeThe welfare purpose remains the central point. The World Cup will be played across Canada, Mexico and the United States, with different climates and conditions across the host cities.Yet the ruling also changes the practical rhythm of games. Coaches can use the break to reinforce shape, show clips, and correct errors before half-time.That does not turn football into a stop-start sport. It does mean teams who prepare their messages clearly could gain more from a pause that every side will receive. The change is small in format, but important in detail. At the 2026 World Cup, water breaks will not only be about recovery. They will also be part of the tactical contest.Read more:Harry Kane says he has a ‘special feeling’ about one Arsenal player at the World CupMcKenzie opens up on what USMNT are doing in training ahead of World Cup opener v ParaguayVAR will be allowed to intervene in two additional situations at World Cup 20260 Комментарии 0 Поделились 50 Просмотры 0 предпросмотр

SPORTS.YAHOO.COMAaron Rai is a major champion and already notices the differenceDUBLIN, Ohio (AP) — Aaron Rai finally returned home to Florida as a major champion and it didn't take long for him to realize how life was different. One clue was a trip to the grocery store.“I wasn't even in golf clothes,” Rai said Tuesday at the Memorial, his first tournament since winning the PGA Championship at Aronimink.“Just a couple of customers that were doing their regular grocery shopping just came over and congratulated me on the PGA and the performance,” he said. “So yeah, that was very unexpected — and different.”When he did get back to his regular practice routine at the TPC Sawgrass, he said it took him longer than usual to get from the parking lot to the range because of so many people who stopped him. That, too, was different. Most meaningful, however, was when his father came to Ponte Vedra Beach from London. Rai said only when they talked about the week and what he had done did it start to sink in.And then there was the hug they shared.“My dad, he’s a very proud man. He doesn’t show a huge amount of emotions,” Rai said. "But the first evening that I saw him his hug was a little bit different. His smile was a little bit different. We sat and we spoke for probably a good couple of hours or so.“I could probably hear it more from what I associate with how he is normally and how he was during those first couple of days,” he said. “So I think, yeah, that definitely held a lot of weight for me internally.”The ‘Mad Scientist' gets a little help from AIGolf must have been much more complicated for Bryson DeChambeau nearly a decade ago when his mind would race through nine calculations before each shot, from the obvious (yardage and wind) to the scientific (air density and dew point). Now he apparently just talks to Gemini to find solutions. That’s what he explained after the most recent LIV Golf event in South Korea when digging it out of the dirt wasn’t enough.“I spent some long hours on the range trying to figure some stuff out and I was talking to AI quite a bit last night trying to go through some different physics principles that makes the club turn over, having some alpha torque and gamma torque put in there,” DeChambeau said Sunday.“I was like, ‘What makes that possibly do that?’ And was talking about just grip pressure and tension.”He closed with a 65 to finish third, one shot out of the playoff.DeChambeau had been spotted on the practice range the night before the final round and was asked if he was using AI while hitting golf balls.“I was slamming the club in the ground trying to figure out what to do. I was frustrated,” he said. “I didn’t actually figure it out on the range. I went back and started talking to Gemini and trying to figure out just what it could be to passively make the club turn over.“I’m still working it out,” he said. “I don’t have the answer.”Best in college making pro debut at RivieraMegha Ganne was low amateur when she made her U.S. Women's Open debut at Olympic Club while still in high school. SPORTS.YAHOO.COMWebsite outlines why Grêmio are backing Luís CastroWebsite outlines why Grêmio are backing Luís CastroDespite the fans’ boos, the intense external pressure after the defeat to Corinthians, and the recent departure of vice president of football Antônio Dutra Jr., Grêmio’s board has made a decision: head coach Luís Castro will remain in charge. For the club’s leadership, changing managers at this moment is not the way to solve the team’s instability. Grêmio went into the World Cup break in 16th place in the Brazilian Championship with 21 points, just one spot above the relegation zone. And the reasons keeping the Portuguese coach backed behind the scenes at the club were detailed by ge.Check them out below!📌 Why does Grêmio trust Luís Castro’s work?Deep squad restructuring: The football department carried out a real overhaul this season, with 21 players leaving and six new signings arriving for 2026. Among them are the biggest investments in the club’s history: defensive midfielder Juan Nardoni (US$ 8 million) and forward Tetê (€6 million). The board believes this new group needs time to gel.Lack of training time: With the Brazilian Championship starting early at the end of January, at the same time as the Gauchão, the team did not have a proper preseason. The board hopes the current 35-day break for the World Cup will give the coach the on-pitch time he had been missing. The squad returns to training on June 17.Developing youth academy players: With a delicate financial situation, Grêmio needs to sell players. Castro’s work has closely followed the directive of betting on youth to generate future revenue. Under his command, youngsters such as center back Viery, full-back Pedro Gabriel, and attacking midfielder Gabriel Mec have established themselves. Other names, such as Luis Eduardo, Zortéa, and Vitor Ramon, have been given their first chances with the senior team.🎙️ What people are saying behind the scenesBefore leaving his post as vice president of football last Saturday, Antônio Dutra Jr. summed up the board’s thinking on the difficulties faced by the coach and the need for time:"We know we are facing opponents that are better structured, with more well-built squads, and that have not gone through as deep a restructuring as Grêmio has. These difficulties do not disappear like magic. But we believe there is still a lot to get out of what Grêmio can do with this group, during this break, with the arrival of players."The Grêmio squad is currently on vacation, and the coaching staff is now focused on planning adjustments and possible new signings for the resumption of the season in the second half of the year. This article was translated into English by Artificial Intelligence.
