SPORTS.YAHOO.COMWatch: Arjun Tendulkar turns fan's pain into cherished memory with a heartwarming gestureNEW DELHI: Arjun Tendulkar grabbed attention during a Mumbai T20 League match not only for his all-round performance but also for a heartwarming gesture towards a young fan.During the game, one of Arjun’s big sixes flew into the stands and accidentally hit a child on the head, leaving the youngster visibly hurt. After the match, Arjun made sure to check on the fan, who was still holding an ice pack to the back of his head. Watch:— rushiii_12 (@rushiii_12) — rushiii_12 (@rushiii_12) He signed the match ball, gifted it to the child, patted him on the head and shared a smile, turning what had been a painful moment into a memorable one. The gesture won praise and reminded many of the values associated with his father, Sachin Tendulkar. The memorable interaction came on a day when Arjun also starred on the field for Arcs Andheri in the Nuvama Private T20 Mumbai League 2026. The all-rounder played a key role in his team's dominant nine-wicket victory over Bandra Blasters at Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium.Arjun first impressed with the ball, returning figures of 3/11 from three overs, including a maiden, as Bandra Blasters were restricted to 144/9. He then delivered with the bat, remaining unbeaten on 66 off just 34 balls during the chase.Arjun and Musheer's match-winning partnership leads team to victoryChasing 145, Arcs Andheri lost an early wicket before Arjun and Musheer Khan took complete control. The pair added an unbeaten 116 runs for the second wicket, with Musheer contributing 54 not out off 38 deliveries.Their aggressive batting helped Arcs Andheri reach the target in just 13.5 overs, with 37 balls to spare. Arjun’s all-round display earned praise from captain Shivam Dube after the match, although the youngster remained calm and understated as teammates applauded his efforts in the dressing room.0 Kommentare 0 Geteilt 39 Ansichten 0 Bewertungen

SPORTS.YAHOO.COMCharles Barkley's Comments About Cardi B And Her Cardi Ds Are Going ViralWhen you buy through links on our articles, Future and its syndication partners may earn a commission. Credit: Photo by David L. Nemec/NBAE via Getty Images New York City native Cardi B thrilled fans in attendance at the Knicks game last night with a halftime performance. Most of her short set wasn’t broadcast on ESPN, as the network showed analysis from the Inside The NBA crew, but the brief cut-in they did do ended up being the most viral moment from the entire game, as Charles Barkley’s quip about her “Cardi Ds” resulted in extended laughter and host Ernie Johnson making it clear he was not the one who said it.The back-and-forth sequence, which also featured some comments from Shaquille O’Neal, was quickly clipped by several popular Twitter accounts, and almost immediately, it was everywhere. Some users shared it because they enjoyed the comments. Some users shared it because they couldn’t believe he said it, and some users shared it because they wanted to talk about Cardi B’s fantastic outfit. You can watch the unhinged moment below…“I don’t know if those B’s. Those might be Cardi D’s”We have lost Charles Barkley tonight folks https://t.co/ZzStZF5VRL— @barstoolsports (June 9, 2026)Voir le tweet originalInside The NBA has been, by a very wide margin, the most talked about studio show in sports for decades. A typical episode features moderator Ernie Johnson, along with Barkley, Shaq and Kenny Smith. The runtime varies depending on the game and what they’re doing, but a typical episode would see them go on at halftime for a brief segment and then go on again after the game to provide post-game analysis. Sometimes they’re also joined by other NBA legends who might come on as special guests or even current players who might stop by for an interview. The analysis is always strong, as Barkley, Shaq and Kenny are all highly regarded former NBA players with thoughtful things to say, but the real reason the show has been on the air for decades is because the guys have fantastic chemistry and never pull any punches. Barkley and Shaq especially are willing to say whatever pops in their heads. Usually that results in them dunking on players for bonehead plays and mistakes they made during the game (or entire teams), but like we saw last night, it also sometimes results in them dunking on each other or going way off topic (like when they got family photos done). There was great concern across the sports world last year that Inside The NBA was going to say its final goodbye. TNT, the show’s longtime home, lost the rights to broadcast NBA games, but after a national outcry, ESPN decided to pick the entire crew up and use them for their broadcast team. There was some grumbling about the network cutting back their schedule and some initial concerns about whether the team would be muzzled, but as this entire exchange about Cardi B illustrates, ESPN has mostly just let them do their thing. As for Cardi B herself, she was clearly amused by the entire thing. She retweeted a video of Barkley’s comments, as well as a screenshot of her trending on social media during the game. She also posted pictures in courtside seats with her son, who seemed to be having a great time. They were joined by an arsenal of celebrities including President Trump, Ben Stiller, Tina Fey, Tracy Morgan, Spike Lee, Fat Joe, Timothée Chalamet, John McEnroe, Mariska Hargitay and many more. They were all hoping to see the Knicks get one step closer to their first NBA Championship in over fifty years. The team wound up losing a close game, but they still hold a 2-1 lead over the San Antonio Spurs. Game 4 is on Wednesday night and will offer Barkley and company some more time with a live microphone to say whatever they want to say.0 Kommentare 0 Geteilt 39 Ansichten 0 Bewertungen

SPORTS.YAHOO.COMBig Ten, SEC Schools Call for Texas Tech Boycott After Sorsby RulingOn Monday, a local judge in Texas granted an injunction to allow Texas Tech quarterback Brendan Sorsby to play next season despite years of gambling activity, including placing bets on his own team, that ended with him entering in-patient treatment for gambling addiction. The ruling is just the latest in a string of cases where players have asked local judges to give them NCAA eligibility. But it marked the first time a judge has forced a league to allow a player to participate despite engaging in gambling activity. While the ruling doesn’t set a nationwide precedent, it could be cited in future arguments for other players across the country. The NCAA has already filed a notice of appeal, per documents obtained by Front Office Sports on Monday night. But the ruling sent shockwaves across the industry—and as a result, some schools may be taking matters into their own hands.Calls for BoycottAthletic directors at two power conference schools—Georgia and Nebraska—have reportedly instructed their departments to refrain from scheduling Texas Tech in non-conference play in all sports. In addition, conferences will hold meetings to consider whether to boycott Texas Tech on a conference-wide level.Georgia athletic director Josh Brooks and Nebraska athletic director Troy Dannen sent written messages calling for a Texas Tech boycott, according to memos obtained by Yahoo Sports. Brooks later posted a statement on X saying: “True integrity means holding your program accountable when things go wrong, not buying custom legislation or running to a local courtroom to bypass the rules.”Spokespeople for Nebraska and Georgia did not immediately respond to FOS requests for comment. On Monday night, Big 12 commissioner Brett Yormark said the conference has planned a meeting with athletic directors and the Big 12 executive board for later this week to discuss the situation. “The ramifications of today’s ruling are significant and could have broad impacts across college athletics, creating great concern amongst our membership,” he said. The Big Ten also scheduled a meeting to discuss the prospect of a league-wide boycott of Texas Tech, according to ESPN. A Big Ten representative did not immediately respond to an FOS request for comment.FOS also made inquiries to the SEC and ACC on Monday night regarding whether they might hold conference-wide meetings to discuss a potential boycott or next steps. Representatives did not immediately respond to comment requests. While it’s unclear what power state attorneys general could have in the matter, at least one has already weighed in. “I’m outraged at a court’s decision to unilaterally reinstate a star player for the Texas Tech football program and set a horrific precedent in a case involving serial betting on his own team,” Oklahoma AG Gentner Drummond said in a post on X on Monday night. “Rules exist for a reason, and this player clearly violated reasonable standards instituted by the NCAA.”Michael C. Johnson-Imagn ImagesTexas Tech Reacts to the RulingAthletic director Kirby Hocutt did not immediately respond to a request for comment regarding the calls to boycott Texas Tech specifically. But in response to the ruling on Monday, Texas Tech officials simply stated that they were doing what all other schools had done during this chaotic period in college sports—used whatever resources were at their disposal to gain a competitive advantage. “As we have said before, we do not believe that the circumstances surrounding Brendan’s case warranted permanent ineligibility,” Hocutt said Monday. He added that the school will continue to monitor his activity and support his recovery.Texas Tech University board chair and booster Cody Campbell—an advisor of U.S. President Donald Trump who has championed the Protect College Sports Act—added: “This unfortunate situation is the outcome of a broken system. I’m doing everything I can to fix it, but until there is a permanent solution, Texas Tech and its student athletes have to do the best they can to navigate and compete amid the chaos that exists in the reality of the world we live in.”The post Big Ten, SEC Schools Call for Texas Tech Boycott After Sorsby Ruling appeared first on Front Office Sports.0 Kommentare 0 Geteilt 39 Ansichten 0 Bewertungen

SPORTS.YAHOO.COMWhy Ralf Rangnick has big doubts over Milan moveWhy Ralf Rangnick has big doubts over Milan moveSerie A side Milan have been pursuing a move for Ralf Rangnick in an attempt to hire a new sporting director. While they have presented an offer, he seems to have doubts over the deal. This comes directly from the Austrian press. Wiener Zeitung – via Calciomercato, report that the ex-Manchester United manager isn’t sure if his demands will be met at the Rossoneri. The club have agreed to meet those for now but the German isn’t certain if they will live up to the promise. He fears he will be surrounded by too many influential figures and this will undermine his decisions and planning. The other proposal Rangnick has in hand is from the ÖFB, the Austrian Football Association.President Josef Pröll received the green light from his board members at the end of 2025 to extend his contract, after an initial stalemate. The reason for that were his excessive demands. The executives feared he might take control of the federation and transform it into a ‘Rangnick corporation.’They thought they had all the power. They were convinced Rangnick, after having rejected offers from Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund, was no longer attractive for the major leagues, which is why they initially offered him a contract extension at just over €1 million, which is his current salary.Rangnick fears warrantedMilan’s recent track record suggests the politics at play can undermine someone like Rangnick, who is very radical in his ideas. They have offered him the chance to sit at the top of the sporting project but many figures at the club have more say than needed over that. The priorities at Milan have rarely been sporting and Rangnick is right to seek written guarantees about it.Kaustubh Pandey I GIFN0 Kommentare 0 Geteilt 39 Ansichten 0 Bewertungen

WWW.LGBTQNATION.COMRachel Maddow savors the moment as Trump gets repeatedly booed at Knicks gameDonald Trump was roundly booed multiple times while attending a Knicks game in his hometown of New York City last night, and out MS NOW host Rachel Maddow appeared to enjoy the moments. As the national anthem was sung, the Jumbotron focused on the president, who was saluting in his suite. The crowd then erupted in boos while Trump made an awkward face, seemingly acknowledging what was going on and attempting to shrug it off at the same time. Related Rachel Maddow gleefully explains how Trump administration lost a battle over the truth yesterday Knicks fans at MSG boo Donald Trump during National Anthem pic.twitter.com/wLbHUSD7PS— Legion Hoops (@LegionHoops) June 9, 2026 Later in the night, Maddow commented on the icy reception Trump received, playing videos of people booing Trump as he arrived at Madison Square Garden. “When they’re waving at you with just one finger, it doesn’t mean the same as another kind of wave,” Maddow joked, pointing out that fans might have been annoyed by the hours of waiting time caused by additional security measures. She also pointed out that Trump won a mere 17% of the vote in deep-blue Manhattan. Maddow played the clip again, just to enjoy the moment. “Gotta smile through it. Maybe they have a nickname for me that has an ‘ooh’ sound in the middle of it, maybe that’s what that is,” she said, making a joke of what she thought the president was thinking.0 Kommentare 0 Geteilt 39 Ansichten 0 Bewertungen -

SPORTS.YAHOO.COMRoma hoping to renegotiate financial fair play settlement agreement with UEFARoma hoping to renegotiate financial fair play settlement agreement with UEFAReports in Italy claim that Roma are hoping to renegotiate the terms of their financial fair play settlement agreement with UEFA, which could otherwise lead to the sales of a number of first-team stars including the likes of Manu Kone and Evan Ndicka.Could UEFA extend Roma’s financial fair play deadline? It has been widely reported that Roma must raise around €50m in funds by the end of June in order to comply with the settlement agreement they reached with UEFA back in September 2022 following the club’s break of financial fair play regulations during the 2021-22 season.UEFA imposed a series of restrictions upon Roma for the following years spanning from 2022 until 2026. The exact terms of the settlement agreement can be read on the UEFA website. What has become clear is that the Giallorossi still need to raise funds in order to comply with the agreement they reached with UEFA back in 2022, and reports across Italy claim that Kone, Ndicka and goalkeeper Mile Svilar are among the most likely of the current Roma squad to be sacrificed.ROME, ITALY – MARCH 01: Evan Ndicka runs with the ball whilst under pressure from Andrea Cambiaso of Juventus during the Serie A match at Stadio Olimpico on March 01, 2026 in Rome, Italy. (Photo by Paolo Bruno/Getty Images)If Roma do not comply with the terms of their settlement agreement, they are likely to be handed a significant fine and will also face restrictions on the number of new players they are able to register for the 2027-28 season, and could also be barred from entering UEFA competitions for the following three seasons from 2027-28 onwards.Roma have qualified for the 2025-26 Champions League and are not at risk of being kicked out if they do not comply with their settlement agreement. But, Gian Piero Gasperini’s side are hoping to improve their squad in terms of talent and numbers, not decrease it. There have been reports that the Giallorossi are keen to add the €55m-rated Mason Greenwood to their attack this summer, for instance.MADRID, SPAIN – SEPTEMBER 16: Mason Greenwood of Olymquique de Marseille gestures during the UEFA Champions League 2025/26 League Phase MD1 match between Real Madrid C.F. and Olympique de Marseille at Estadio Santiago Bernabeu on September 16, 2025 in Madrid, Spain. (Photo by Angel Martinez/Getty Images)In order to facilitate a summer of spending ahead of their return to the Champions League, Roma are reportedly attempting to renegotiate the terms of their settlement agreement with UEFA.According to reports from Corriere della Sera (via Calciomercato.com), Roma are hoping to postpone the deadline that is currently set for the end of this month until the end of the 2026-27 season, specifically until June 30, 2027. The club’s Friedkin owners are reportedly hoping to speak with UEFA officials in the near future to discuss the possibilities. If UEFA are to agree to an extension of the deadline, Roma will likely have to compromise in a few other areas, potentially a limit on the number of signings they are allowed to register or the amount they are allowed to spend during the 2026-27 season. This might complicate incoming deals, but would put Roma in a stronger position to keep hold of the likes of Kone, Ndicka or even goalkeeper Mile Svilar.0 Kommentare 0 Geteilt 39 Ansichten 0 Bewertungen

SPORTS.YAHOO.COMMCC baseball gets ready for first state tourney in 25 yearsJun. 9—SLAYTON — Gabe Tentinger's father Adam was a senior on the Murray County Central baseball team when it last went to state back in 2001.25 years later, Tentinger, himself now a senior, has helped take the Rebels back for only the second time in school history. They have gone through the season with just one loss and rolled through the Section 3A playoffs en route to the State Class A Baseball Tournament, which is set to begin this week at Joe Faber Field in St. Cloud. As the No. 4 seed in the tournament, MCC's first test in the quarterfinals will be fifth-seeded Ogilvie Thursday at 6:30 p.m."It's just crazy that it has been 25 years, because we've had good baseball at MCC for a lot longer than that," said Rebels head coach Paul Counter. "But there's good baseball down here, good section. Our youth programs right now are really thriving, and hopefully it just really helps everything."The Lions hail from Section 4A who possess a 19-6 record this season. They won their first three section playoff games to make the championship series before dropping game one to top-seeded West Lutheran. They bounced back to win game two 8-4 to clinch their first section title in school history.Ogilvie will be going against a Rebels team that returned nearly every player from last year and was determined to finally get over the hump. The Rebels were the No. 1 seed in the Section 3A south sub-section each of the past three years but didn't advance past the quarterfinal round. In 2024, they lost to eventual section champion Lac qui Parle Valley in the quarterfinals and then to rival Adrian/Ellsworth in the elimination bracket. Last year ended with losses to Yellow Medicine East in the quarterfinals and Minneota in the elimination round. But this year's Rebels were not going to come up short again and it showed in a dominant section playoff run. They started with an 11-1 win over Minneota in the first round before winning their final three games by shutout. First was an 8-0 win over Yellow Medicine East, then came a 4-0 win over Dawson-Boyd to advance to the section title series.Just one win away from the section title, MCC faced Adrian/Ellsworth, one of the few teams that tested the Rebels a bit during the season. But thanks to a fast start at the plate along with solid pitching from Krew Schneider, they won 7-0 to achieve a goal they had set at the beginning of the season."We had everybody back except for one person and we gained Krew back to pitch," Tentinger said. "We had a rough ending last year. We had the same (record), only one loss in the regular season last year, and then we came out the same this year, so (motivation) was pretty high."Meyer is one of many talented Rebel players from all over the field. He is a pitcher and outfielder who has been one of the team's best arms all year. Schneider has also been a good option on the mound and he is one of their best at the plate. There are solid hitters up and down the Rebel lineup, including catcher Dugan Kluis, first baseman Danny Larson, second baseman Carson Lewis, shortstop Tristan Behrends, third baseman Cayden Veldhuisen, left fielder Carter Hanson and Tentinger at right field. The Rebels are also a strong veteran group that appears to be playing its best baseball at the end of the season, both recipes toward a potential state tournament run."They stayed together, they stayed hungry, they wanted it, and it's (the) ultimate goal, and they just played their best at the right times and found a way to get it done," Counter said. Many of the same players who led the baseball team to state were also part of the football team that played in the state semifinals at US Bank Stadium in the fall."I said from the start of my senior year, it'd be pretty awesome playing US Bank Stadium and Target Field, so that's my personal goal, but I think that'd be pretty fun," Meyer said. The winner of Thursday's quarterfinal matchup will play either No. 8 New York Mills or No. 1 Madelia Friday back at Joe Faber Field in the semifinals. The loser would fall to a consolation bracket. The state championship game will be Monday, June 15 at Target Field, home of the Minnesota Twins.Thursday, June 11No. 7 Janesville-Waldolf-Pemberton vs No. 2 Red Lake CountyNo. 6 Brandon-Evansville vs No. 3 South RidgeNo. 8 New York Mills vs No. 1 MadeliaNo. 5 Ogilvie vs No. 4 Murray County Central0 Kommentare 0 Geteilt 39 Ansichten 0 Bewertungen -

APNEWS.COMRob Reiner’s son Nick seeks money from trust parents left him for his defense in their killingsNick Reiner pleads not guilty to two counts of first-degree murder in the deaths of his parents, Rob Reiner and Michele Singer Reiner, with public defense attorney, Kimberly Green, during his arraignment on murder charges for the deaths of his parents, Rob and Michele Reiner, Monday, Feb. 23, 2026, in Los Angeles. (Chris Torres/Pool Photo via AP , File)2026-06-09T10:30:58Z LOS ANGELES (AP) — Rob Reiner’s son Nick Reiner is seeking unpaid money from a trust his parents established for him, saying he needs it to help in his defense against charges that he killed them.A petition filed by the 32-year-old Nick Reiner’s civil attorneys in a Los Angeles County court on Monday says that trustees overseeing the funds have denied them to him without legal justification, and he needs and should get them now.“Nick loved his parents, and he is devastated by their deaths. But the facts about what did and did not happen to them are not at issue in this Trust litigation,” the petition says. “Like anyone accused of a crime, Nick is presumed innocent, and he is entitled to mount his defense with the resources that are lawfully his own.”The director and Hollywood luminary Rob Reiner and his wife, photographer and producer Michele Singer Reiner, were stabbed to death in their home in the upscale Brentwood section of Los Angeles on Dec. 14. Nick Reiner was arrested hours later and has since pleaded not guilty to two counts of murder. AP AUDIO: Rob Reiner’s son Nick seeks money from trust parents left him for his defense in their killings AP correspondent Haya Panjwani reports on a development in the case of Rob Reiner and his wife’s death. Reiner retained high-profile private lawyer Alan Jackson to represent him, but less than a month later Jackson left the case for reasons he said he couldn’t share. The new filing reveals that Reiner’s siblings, Jake and Romy Reiner, had initially agreed to pay for Jackson, but reversed course. In a declaration included with the petition, Jackson said “my firm stands ready, willing, and able to resume representation of Mr. Reiner” if the funds become available. Read More The filing says that apart from the larger Reiner family trust, which is not at issue, Rob and Michele Reiner established smaller individual trusts for Nick Reiner and his siblings. It says they left “unambiguous instructions” in Nick Reiner’s trust, established in 1993, that he was to receive half its money when he turned 30 and the rest at 35. But, the filing says, Reiner never received the funds he was entitled to at 30, and that the trustee overseeing them since February — attorney Paul R. Kanin — has given “a shifting series of excuses and justifications” to deny Reiner the money, including concerns about Reiner’s competence that have no bearing on a payout that is mandatory.Reiner says he should also get the money he was to receive at 35 immediately because his defense and his need for basic necessities in jail require it.The petition says the trust has at least $1.5 million in assets, but that Kanin will not share the exact amount of its value.Kanin did not immediately respond to an after-hours email seeking comment.Proceedings in Reiner’s murder case are moving slowly. He is scheduled to return to court for a pretrial hearing in September. He is eligible for the death penalty, but District Attorney Nathan Hochman has said his office has not yet decided whether to seek it. Authorities have said nothing about possible motives, and leaks in the case have been virtually nonexistent on both sides. A court order has kept most details of the autopsy secret. Many of the most basic questions about the killing remain unanswered publicly. On the day he left the case, Jackson, speaking outside court, declared adamantly that “pursuant to the laws of California, Nick Reiner is not guilty of murder.”In April, Jake Reiner gave his first detailed account of the experience of losing his parents and having his brother at the center of it, calling it “a living nightmare” that is “too devastating to comprehend.” Rob Reiner was a prolific director whose work included some of the most memorable and endlessly watchable movies of the 1980s and ’90s. WWW.404MEDIA.COJudge Learns Lawyers on Both Sides of Case Used AI, Cancels Trial, Kicks Everyone Off the CaseThe lawyers on both sides of a federal court case in Mississippi were caught using artificial intelligence, a situation where, effectively, generative AI tools were used to argue against each other. The judge wrote in a blistering sanctions order, that the lawyers wasted the court’s time, and that “in an era of rampant unverified AI usage within the legal field, this case presents a prime example of the risk associated with serving as a rubber-stamp.”“This case presents the Court with an unusual scenario—attorneys for both litigants engaged in similar sanctionable conduct,” Sharion Aycock, senior United States District Judge for the Northern District of Mississippi wrote in a sanctions order. “This court is yet again ‘burdened with addressing AI hallucinations court filings.’”The case in question involved a contractual dispute between lawyer Tom Withers and the city of Aberdeen, Mississippi, over apparently unpaid legal fees (Withers was not representing himself and was not sanctioned by the court). The case was first noticed by Rob Freund, a lawyer who frequently posts about cases involving AI hallucinations. Freund called it a “comedy of AI errors,” and suggested “there were two clients who basically were paying for ChatGPT (or whatever LLM) to argue against itself.”404 Media has repeatedly covered the phenomenon of lawyers using AI to prepare their filings, and the specifics in this court case follow a similar pattern to what we’ve seen before: Lawyers for both sides cited nonexistent, hallucinated cases while making their arguments. The difference is that every lawyer involved in the case is implicated, leading Aycock to pause the proceedings, cancel the trial, and disqualify all four lawyers involved. Two of the lawyers were barred from appearing before the court for two years; all lawyers received a fine of between $1,000 and $3,500, depending on Aycock’s assessment of their culpability for not verifying the outputs of the AI they used. Judges around the country have been increasingly frustrated with lawyers who use AI; last week, we wrote about a judge who ripped into various lawyers for citing hallucinated cases in New York. All four lawyers involved either admitted to directly using AI or admitted to rubber stamping legal briefs that had been prepared with AI without reviewing them. Aycock wrote that at a hearing in January, “each of the attorneys expressed embarrassment and apologized to the court.” One of the lawyers said they used an AI tool to do legal research; another, Kathleen Wilson, admitted to using an AI tool called First Drafts to write the entire briefing. The two other attorneys said they did not review the briefs in question and submitted them to the court. Notably, Aycock said that Wilson had since been caught continuing to use AI after the court had detected she was using it. “Wilson explained that she was shocked when the Court issued the show cause order pointing out the hallucinated cases appearing in her filing. In essence, Wilson took the position that she was unaware that AI could produce hallucinated cases and explained that she did not even know what a hallucinated case was,” Aycock said. “The Court finds that explanation to be insufficient and incredulous.”“The Court is compelled to note that it has serious concerns that Wilson has continued this practice of AI misuse in other cases after she was put on notice of her violations in this case,” she added, noting that other judges in other cases had found hallucinated cases in Wilson’s filings as recently as April, four months after she was initially asked to explain her AI use in this case. “Her continued AI misuse demonstrates an extreme dereliction of professional responsibility on her part. Though this Court cannot consider subsequent conduct that did not occur before it in determination of the appropriate sanction(s) in this case, it finds that at minimum Wilson’s apologies to this Court on January 20, 2026 were not sincere.”Another lawyer, Kathryn Williams, admitted to using an AI tool that she did not name to do research. Notably, that tool was described as being built for “in-house legal research,” and that the tool in question is not supposed to hallucinate cases. “Williams explained that the software was built to produce results from jurisdictions in which her law firm typically practiced, which did not include Mississippi,” Aycock wrote. “She explained that this case is the only Mississippi case she has ever been involved in, yet she resorted to using the software apparently knowing that it was not designed to encompass Mississippi law.”0 Kommentare 0 Geteilt 40 Ansichten 0 Bewertungen -

SPORTS.YAHOO.COMRaymond Muratalla vs Robson Conceicao added to Roach vs Zepeda showRaymond Muratalla will defend his IBF lightweight title against Robson Conceicao on August 1, joining the already-announced Lamont Roach Jr vs William Zepeda main event in Las Vegas, which will be for the vacant WBC lightweight title. The 29-year-old Muratalla (24-0, 17 KO) surprised a fair few when he beat ex-Olympic king Andy Cruz to retain the IBF belt in January, having been elevated from interim title status due to the retirement of Vasiliy Lomachenko, who is now planning a return to the sport. He’ll surely now go in as the favorite, but Conceicao (21-3-1, 10 KO) is never an easy opponent to beat. The 37-year-old Brazilian is coming up from 130 lbs, where he briefly held the WBC super featherweight title for about four months in 2024, and had previously proven a formidable challenge in world title bouts against Oscar Valdez (a controversial loss in 2021) and Emanuel Navarrete (a draw in 2023), as well as a clear loss to Shakur Stevenson in 2022.2025 came and went without a world title fight for Conceicao, but now he has another one. His two most recent fights have been stay-busy affairs at home in Brazil, last fighting on April 4.The event will air on TNT in the United States, as well as DAZN, and is now co-promoted by Top Rank, Golden Boy, and TGB Promotions, which is, essentially, Premier Boxing Champions. Nice to see all these promoters broken down into working together now that they’ve lost all of their own leverage!0 Kommentare 0 Geteilt 39 Ansichten 0 Bewertungen

SPORTS.YAHOO.COMNFL Faces Renewed Congressional Attack Over Media Pricing, AccessEven without NFL commissioner Roger Goodell present in Washington, D.C., for a Congressional hearing Wednesday, a key U.S. House of Representatives committee is pressing forward and again attacking the league’s media policies. Nearly a week after Goodell declined to appear before the House Judiciary Committee, the panel solidified its plans to examine the Sports Broadcasting Act of 1961—and the NFL’s compliance with it—during a Wednesday hearing. In advance of that session, the committee released a report accusing the league of abusing its antitrust exemption and artificially inflating prices for consumers.“Today, for consumers to watch broadcast NFL games, they must navigate a complicated and expensive web of television agreements and rules,” the report reads in part. The committee’s report takes particular aim at the NFL Sunday Ticket out-of-market package, now streamed to consumers via YouTube since 2023 after a long run previously on DirecTV. That service, currently being sold at a promotional rate of $240 for new users and $378 for returning ones, carries fees that the panel claims are excessive.“Sunday Ticket is largely not a product for the avid fan of NFL football in general; rather it is a product bought mostly by fans attempting to watch their favorite team who are stuck with no option,” the report reads. “The results shown … suggest that the current model of placing many NFL games behind a paywall, especially the Sunday Ticket service, is harming consumers by forcing them to pay for a large package of NFL games when they only want to see a handful of games from a single team.”NFL Sunday Ticket was the subject of an antitrust lawsuit in which a 2024 jury verdict found the league violated federal law and awarded nearly $5 billion in damages to plaintiffs. That verdict was later overturned, and the matter is still in litigation.League PerspectiveDespite Goodell’s non-appearance, the league has been insistent throughout a rising amount of federal scrutiny that it remains committed to broadcast television. The NFL has repeatedly cited figures that it will show 87% of its games in the upcoming 2026 season primarily through broadcast television—a figure that rises to 100% in the home markets of the competing teams in each game. That stance has remained intact despite the NFL’s rising embrace of streaming, including a newly expanded five-game rights package with Netflix this year.“In recent years, as technologies have presented new ways to distribute video content, viewing habits have changed and we have adjusted our approach to be clear, this has not come at the expense of our dedication to broadcast television,” NFL EVP and general counsel Ted Ullyot wrote in a letter last week to Judiciary Committee chair Rep. Jim Jordan (R., Ohio). Meanwhile, much of the external pressure on the NFL on this topic has come from news outlets such as Fox News, the New York Post, and The Wall Street Journal—each controlled by Rupert Murdoch. The Murdoch-led Fox Sports is approaching a rights renegotiation with the NFL, one that is set to bring higher fees and that the network is likely less equipped to absorb than other league rights holders.Without Goodell, the committee’s three scheduled witnesses Wednesday will include OutKick Media president Clay Travis, a frequent critic of the league, along with National Association of Broadcasters president and CEO Curtis LeGeyt and Jim Hallers, founder and managing partner of Tailgators Pub & Grill in Texas. The post NFL Faces Renewed Congressional Attack Over Media Pricing, Access appeared first on Front Office Sports.0 Kommentare 0 Geteilt 39 Ansichten 0 Bewertungen

WWW.LGBTQNATION.COM“Completely out of his mind”: Trump claims chorus of boos at Knicks game was “mostly cheers”Donald Trump was booed repeatedly while attending the Knicks game in his hometown of New York City last night, yet he told the press that New Yorkers gave him a warm and joyous welcome. Despite an abundance of video evidence showing the president being booed multiple times, he seems, as always, to hope people will believe his lies over their own eyes and ears. He told a reporter after the game that he thought his reception at Madison Square Garden was “amazing, actually.” Related Rosie O’Donnell returns to US with some choice words for Donald Trump: “He is a psychopath” “I thought it was very good, yeah. SPORTS.YAHOO.COMDonald Trump heard 'mostly cheers,' not boos, in Knicks-Spurs momentPresident Donald Trump received loud boos during the national anthem during Game 3 of the 2026 NBA Finals at Madison Square Garden on Monday night. However, Trump, a New York Knicks fan, doesn't think so, at least not compared to the positive reception. He thinks he got "mostly cheers" from a "very enthusiastic" crowd. While talking to reporters late on Monday night after attending the NBA Finals game, Trump said he was happy with the crowd's response (that audibly featured boos from video footage in the stadium). "I thought it was very good. It was certainly amazing;" Trump said of the crowd's response to his appearance on the MSG Jumbotron. "I think mostly cheers. It was loud, and it was very enthusiastic." SPORTS.YAHOO.COMFantasy Baseball: Move over, Coors Field — Vegas is bringing the offenseVery early in Kyle Harrison's Monday start at Las Vegas, it was already too late. Harrison entered the night with a 1.57 ERA, one of the breakout stories of the year. He's likely to be an All-Star and could be a Cy Young contender. But asked to pitch Monday night against the Athletics at Las Vegas Ballpark, Harrison was just another pitcher looking for cover. His first pitch of the game left the park in a hurry — Shea Langeliers hammered a 483-foot home run. It turned into a quick and messy outing for Harrison — 2.1 IP, 8 runs, 3 homers allowed. His ERA jumped to 2.72 before the sun set.And here's the thing with Harrison moving forward — there's no change in his perceived value. Monday's takeaway is mostly a story about major-league hitters enjoying the perks of hitting in a temporary park that boosts offense. The Brewers wound up winning a crazy 15-14 game Monday, a 12-inning affair. The teams combined for 11 home runs, just two of the MLB record. The Athletics are the seventh team in baseball history to hit seven homers in a game but somehow lose.Several factors turn Las Vegas Ballpark into a hitter's wonderland. The stadium is 2,000 feet above sea level, so the air is thinner and the ball has less drag. The hot weather in Las Vegas also encourages the ball to travel, and the prevailing winds are usually blowing out. If you're sitting in the bleachers here, you don't just need a glove — you need a helmet. The Las Vegas Aviators, a Triple-A team in the hitter-friendly Pacific Coast League, call this park home. Consider their home/road splits as you calibrate the playability of this stadium:— Aviators at home: .317/.393/.514 slash, .907 OPS, 6.28 ERA— Aviators on the road: .265/.337/.443 slash, .729 OPS, 4.17 ERAThe Brewers and Athletics have two more Las Vegas games this week, and then the Rockies and Athletics play a three-game set here on the weekend. After seeing Monday's night's Home Run Derby, we need some temporary rules.Takeaways from Vegas slugfest between Athletics and Brewers— I probably would have rested Harrison had I considered the ballpark factors before Monday night, but it's too late for that now. But I will advise anyone to avoid J.T. Ginn on Tuesday night (despite his 2.74 ERA), and to fade Gage Jump on Saturday (despite his 2.45 ERA, and experience in this park). Those are the only starting pitchers we needed to sort through; all of Colorado's starters can't be trusted, and the Athletics don't have a deep rotation, either. Thankfully, Jacob Misiorowski, Milwaukee's unbelievable ace, will not pitch in this series.Play 2026 Soccer Pick 'Em with FOX One and make your picks for the world's biggest soccer tournament— Jake Bauers conked his 12th home run for Milwaukee on Monday and should be a fun start the next two days, up against two right-handed starters. It's surprising it's taken this long for him to reach 62% rostered in Yahoo leagues, given he's been great all year and the sample is approaching 200 at-bats.— I'm holding onto Andrew Vaughn in some deeper leagues, though I really don't know what to do with him. I expected a breakout year entering 2026, something that was derailed by an early hand injury. He homered Monday and he's been productive in 88 at-bats (.973 OPS), though the story is driven by an unreal line against left-handed pitching (.548/.622/.935). Vaughn is just a part-time player against righties these days, in part because Milwaukee is back to full health. The Brewers don't see another lefty starter in this series, and they'll draw only three of them over the next two weeks. And none of those lefties present an easy matchup: the Brewers draw Cristopher Sánchez, Chris Sale and Parker Messick — two superstars and one emerging star. Vaughn's fantasy status remains in limbo.— We're hoping the Vegas ballpark can get Brent Rooker going, but he didn't get the memo Monday. He was the only Athletics starter to go hitless (0-for-5), and he also struck out three times. The slumping Rooker is down to .200/.281/.389 for the year. His batted-ball profile suggests he's been mildly unlucky, but the .212 expected average and .447 expected slugging wouldn't justify his ADP, either.— The total for Monday's game, even with Harrison and Jeffrey Springs pitching, was a juicy 11.5. It's bumped even higher for Tueday, a 13.5-run call with Ginn and Robert Gasser starting. By way of comparison, the Cubs and Rockies at Coors have a 12.5-run total set for Tuesday, and every other game on the Tuesday slate is set for 9.5 runs or fewer. When in doubt with lineup decisions, bet on the elements.— If you're looking to stream some Athletics this week, Zack Gelof is a good place to start. He homered Monday and has a solid .267 average with seven homers and six steals over 165 at-bats. You can use him at second, third or the outfield, and he's just 19% rostered in Yahoo.Carlos Cortes could also help out, though he's often shielded from left-handed pitching (he didn't start Monday) and the Athletics face two more lefties this week. Cortes has a .312 average and more walks than strikeouts, and he's homered five times. The Mets castoff has found a home with the nomad Athletics.0 Kommentare 0 Geteilt 39 Ansichten 0 Bewertungen

(Photo by David Berding/Getty Images) | Getty Images The Minnesota Vikings kick off mandatory minicamp — and the QB battle between Kyler Murray and J.J. McCarthy is heating up. Tyler Forness of The Real Forno Show breaks down everything Vikings fans need to watch, from the quarterback competition to running back and wide receiver depth battles, defensive line intrigue, and more, in this essential Vikings 1st & SKOL podcast episode.Minnesota Vikings fans, mandatory minicamp is here, and it could be the most revealing three days of the entire off-season. On this episode of The Real Forno Show, hosted by Tyler Forness and produced by Dave Stefano, the duo dig deep into the key storylines surrounding the Vikings as they prepare for the 2026 season. With the quarterback competition still officially undecided, Tyler makes clear that Kyler Murray holds a significant edge: “It is likely that Kyler Murray ends up being the starting quarterback.” Meanwhile, J.J. McCarthy’s future — whether that’s winning the job, being traded, or proving himself in the preseason — remains one of the most compelling subplots in the entire NFL. Tyler also touches on the Texas Tech QB Brendan Sorsby supplemental draft situation, noting the Vikings won’t have that pathway this off-season: “The Vikings will not have an opportunity to get another asset to the quarterback room as a quarterback of the future this off-season.”Key Points from This Episode:QB Competition:“There is a small chance that we get an answer to the quarterback competition this week — I’d say about 5%.” Murray is ahead, but minicamp could still provide important data points for Kevin O’Connell’s decision.J.J. McCarthy Trade Paths:“If you wanna get the best return on J.J. McCarthy, there’s two paths forward — you trade him right now, or you play the waiting game.” Dave Stefano added a third option: let McCarthy ball out in the preseason to boost his trade value.Running Back Depth:“That third running back position is going to be won on special teams and in pass protection — not with how good you are running the ball.” Caution urged on Demond Claiborne hype before pads go on.Wide Receiver Battle: With 13 receivers on the roster, Dillon Bell’s Deebo Samuel-like physicality and Dontae Fleming’s clutch playmaking stand out. “A couple guys that I like to show out are Fleming and Bell.”Defensive Line Intrigue: Elijah Williams earned first-team OTA reps and “did not look out of place” — a potential rotational gem. Isaiah Loudermilk’s stylistic similarity to Caleb Banks makes his signing intentional.Linebacker Watch: Jake Golday’s ability to play traditional off-ball linebacker is the key question. If he thrives, Ivan Pace Jr.’s $3.52M contract could become a cap-saving cut.Safety Room:“Right now you have to look at it as Jay Ward’s job to lose” — with Harrison Smith’s return still uncertain and potentially Brett Favre-like in timing.Punter Battle: It may really be a holder competition. “Holders help score points. SPORTS.YAHOO.COMVictor Wembanyama got interviewed by a disembodied armThere’s no good way to interview someone the size of Victor Wembanyama post-game, unless the man is sitting down. When you’re 7-4 your entire existence is spent adapting to the world around you, so I don’t blame him when he doesn’t feel like stooping down after a basketball game to make life easier on reporters. Still, it has a tendency to create some hilarious moments, as we saw on Monday night when ESPN’s Lisa Salters was reduced to a disembodied arm on camera. The internet tells me that Lisa Salters is an unconfirmed 5-2, but still this is pretty hilarious. Would it have killed ESPN to take a couple of steps back so both Wemby and their reporter could both be in the shot at once? It wouldn’t have taken away from the moment considering that Wembanyama is a literal giant, and it’s gotta be better than just having a random arm invading the frame. It’s time for networks to start thinking about the literal ways they cover Victor Wembanyama. Considering we don’t even know how tall Wemby could get when it’s all said and done, well, this is going to continue to be a problem for a long time.0 Kommentare 0 Geteilt 39 Ansichten 0 Bewertungen

However, he is not fully convinced. The report reveals that Rangnick does not trust the situation entirely, citing concerns about the numerous influential figures surrounding the club and whether the full executive control he has been promised would genuinely materialise. He is now demanding written guarantees and clear commitments before agreeing to anything.KITZBUEHEL, AUSTRIA – JANUARY 25: Zlatan Ibrahimovic, former AC Milan player, looks on as he attends the Men’s Downhill of the Audi FIS Alpine Ski World Cup on January 25, 2025 in Kitzbuehel, Austria. (Photo by Christian Bruna/Getty Images)Austrian federation offer Rangnick renewed deal as Milan stalemate continuesMilan have offered Rangnick what he desires most: total control at the top of the sporting pyramid with complete decision-making authority. But Rangnick wants more than verbal assurances, and the complex power structures at San Siro, which include the significant influence of Zlatan Ibrahimovic, appear to be giving him pause for thought. The alternative on the table is a contract extension with the Austrian football federation, who have increased their financial offer following the arrival of new sponsors.Despite initial resistance from federation officials who feared Rangnick would turn the organisation into a personal fiefdom, a renewed deal is now on the table.According to Wiener Zeitung, money is not Rangnick’s priority: his ambition is to professionalise Austrian football as a whole, and that mission remains unfinished with Euro 2028 on the horizon.0 Kommentare 0 Geteilt 39 Ansichten 0 Bewertungen

SPORTS.YAHOO.COMRichard Hughes must act fast to sign perfect Ibrahima Konate replacementRichard Hughes must act fast to sign perfect Ibrahima Konate replacementIbrahima Konate has already packed his bags and exited Anfield. The Frenchman's future has been up in the air for the last couple of seasons with both Liverpool and the centre-back expecting him to extend his stay.Just a month or so ago, the defender said that the two parties were close to agreeing a new deal but, after failing to iron the last few bits of the contract out, an extension was taken off the table.Since he announced he was leaving, several clubs have been linked with a move for the Frenchman with Real Madrid the team expected to acquire his services. And, even though Jeremy Jacquet and Giovanni Leoni will be available, the Reds still need to sign another centre-back before the 2026-27 season kicks off with the perfect option to replace Konate now slowly slipping out of their grasp.Real Madrid are gearing up to make an offer for Nico SchlotterbeckBorussia Dortmund's Nico Schlotterbeck is one of the many players who have long been linked with Liverpool. The centre-back is one of Germany's best defenders with his ability to play as a left-back and centre-back highly sought-after by many clubs. And, the fact that he's only 26 years old just adds to how good he actually is.Although the defender has recently agreed an extension to his contract with Dortmund, he did include a release clause in the deal for some of the biggest clubs in the world, Liverpool included.Since then, fans have begged Richard Hughes to activate the release clause but now, according to Bild, Real Madrid could be about to beat them to it."Schlotterbeck has an exit clause with a special World Cup regulation. Under certain conditions, it allows him to move this summer. The fixed transfer fee is expected to be between 50 and 60 million euros," they wrote."Real Madrid is one of the clubs that has direct access to the BVB star. The Whites are therefore planning to make Schlotterbeck an offer in the near future."Why Nico Schlotterbeck is a perfect replacement for Ibrahima KonateSchlotterbeck is one of the more experienced centre-backs that Liverpool have been linked with this summer.Of course, Marcos Senesi is another but in terms of Champions League and top level experience, Schlotterbeck clears the Argentinian. His arrival would obviously mean that Virgil van Dijk would have to move to right centre-back but, for around £50 million, there genuinely isn't a better option on the market for Liverpool. The German international has played 37 games across all competitions and has score five goals and his statistics are also fairly impressive. As per Fotmob, during the 2025-26 Bundesliga season the defender won 62.9 per cent of his aerial duels and 62 per cent of his ground duels per 90 minutes. He also managed to maintain a pass accuracy percentage of 88.3 per cent per 90 and was only dribbled past 0.29 times per game. These statistics coupled with his Champions League and Bundesliga make him the perfect target for Liverpool which is why Richard Hughes must act fast and sign him before Real Madrid swoop him up.0 Kommentare 0 Geteilt 39 Ansichten 0 Bewertungen

SPORTS.YAHOO.COMBrandon Aiyuk uses bizarre social media message to insult 49ersBrandon Aiyuk uses bizarre social media message to insult 49ers originally appeared on The Sporting News. Add The Sporting News as a Preferred Source by clicking here. It's clear that Brandon Aiyuk and the San Francisco 49ers don't want to be a partnership any longer. But at the same time, the 'Niners still have Aiyuk under contract, and they don't seem in a hurry to change that. There isn't any guaranteed money remaining on Aiyuk's contract, so the 49ers can be patient before deciding what their final move is.It seems unlikely that they could find a trading partner willing to give up an asset for the mercurial Aiyuk and his sizable deal.Eventually, the 49ers might just have to cut Aiyuk and let him sign elsewhere. In the meantime, though, Aiyuk surely isn't thrilled, and earlier this week, he went on his Instagram to express his displeasure. It was an odd minute-and-a-half video, and we're going to let ESPN's Nick Waggoner explain it via his article on Monday:Paired with a caption that reads "If you scared just say dat," Aiyuk spent most of the 91 seconds of the video describing an unspecified entity as "little boys" and "female dogs" who are afraid. Aiyuk never explicitly mentions the 49ers by name, but a logical interpretation of the video is that he believes the team is afraid to release him because he could land elsewhere and eventually make it regret letting him go.Aiyuk starts the video by comparing who he is "dealing with" to kids who don't get picked for a basketball game so they take their ball and go home. He then goes on to say that someone -- presumably, the Niners -- is afraid of how he could come back to haunt them if he plays football elsewhere. He tells that someone to stop running from the bill or belt -- it is hard to tell which of those words Aiyuk uses.MORE: Will they still be called the Chicago Bears if they play in Indiana? It's hard to know what exactly this accomplishes.Maybe for Aiyuk it just felt good to get some of this off his chest. Maybe he doesn't want to communicate with the 49ers directly, so this was the avenue he had.But are the 49ers more likely to trade him or release him now than they were before? Did this accelerate any timelines? Probably not.If anything, it might just give other teams slightly more pause in how they pursue Aiyuk. At this point, it's clear the Aiyuk saga won't end with him in a 49ers uniform. But what happens next? That's way less clear.More NFL news:The Aaron Rodgers problem no one is talking about for the SteelersJosh Allen called out by a coach with a major losing recordLamar Jackson has an obvious reason not to sign right nowMyles Garrett's Browns career comes to the most Cleveland of endingsThere's a risk the OBJ signing is a mistake0 Kommentare 0 Geteilt 39 Ansichten 0 Bewertungen

SPORTS.YAHOO.COMA.J. Brown writes a lasting message on the Eagles' Pro Bowl wallA.J. Brown is no longer a member of the Philadelphia Eagles, but the former All-Pro wide receiver made sure his final trip through the Jefferson Health Training Complex included one last message. Brown stopped by the Eagles' facility to pick up some of his belongings after being traded to the New England Patriots, and he left behind a note on the wall honoring Philadelphia's Pro Bowl players. His message was direct, confident, and very much in line with the player who helped reshape the Eagles' offense after arriving in a blockbuster trade from the Tennessee Titans.“The best to ever play here. Always open.”The message immediately became a fitting snapshot of Brown's four-year run in Philadelphia. Few wide receivers have made a bigger impact on the franchise in a shorter window, and Brown's confidence was part of what made him such a dominant presence. He arrived as a true No. 1 target, helped elevate Jalen Hurts' passing game, and gave the Eagles the type of physical, explosive receiver they had spent years searching for.Brown's departure for New England evoked strong emotions because of what he meant to the offense and the franchise's recent run of success. His time in Philadelphia included two Super Bowl appearances, All-Pro honors, Pro Bowl selections, 339 receptions on 521 targets, 5,034 receiving yards, 32 touchdowns, and an average of 14.7 yards per catch across 62 games. His production places him among the most accomplished wide receivers in Eagles history, even if his stay was shorter than most franchise icons.“The best to ever play here. Always open.” ✍️ https://t.co/8Hs8hlNkTy— Ian Rapoport (@RapSheet) June 9, 2026According to Mike Garafolo, there are no hard feelings about the trade, and there is still a lot of love for Brown within the Eagles' organization. That matters because Brown's exit could have easily been framed as messy after months of speculation about his future, his relationship with the franchise, and his place in the offense.Garafolo also reported that talk of a rift involving Brown, Haason Reddick, and Hurts was disputed as false by Dom DiSandro, Philadelphia's longtime chief security officer and one of the most respected figures in the organization. That detail adds important context to Brown's departure, suggesting that the trade did not erase the relationships or respect built during one of the most productive stretches in franchise history.Brown's message on the wall was bold, but it was not empty. He was always open enough to change games, force defenses to adjust, and give Hurts a dominant option on the outside. His presence helped unlock the Eagles’ offense, and his combination of strength, route-running, yards-after-catch ability, and contested-catch ability made him one of the NFL’s toughest matchups. The Eagles will move forward with DeVonta Smith as the unquestioned No. 1 receiver, along with a reshaped group that includes Makai Lemon, Hollywood Brown, Dontayvion Wicks, Elijah Moore, Johnny Wilson, Darius Cooper, and others competing for roles. Replacing Brown's production will require more than one player, and Philadelphia's offensive identity will likely shift toward a deeper, more distributed passing game under Sean Mannion.Still, Brown's legacy in Philadelphia is secure. He did not spend a decade with the Eagles, but he gave the franchise one of the best receiving stretches it has ever seen. He played with edge, produced at a historic level, and helped the Eagles remain one of the NFC’s most dangerous teams. His final message inside the facility captured all of that in one line.“The best to ever play here. Always open.”This article originally appeared on Eagles Wire: A.J. Brown's Eagles goodbye includes an unforgettable message0 Kommentare 0 Geteilt 39 Ansichten 0 Bewertungen

SPORTS.YAHOO.COMGroupthink: Tank Dell’s role & impact on the Texans offenseOct 27, 2024; Houston, Texas, USA; Houston Texans quarterback C.J. Stroud (7) and wide receiver Tank Dell (3) react after a play during the fourth quarter against the Indianapolis Colts at NRG Stadium. Mandatory Credit: Troy Taormina-Imagn Images | Troy Taormina-Imagn Images The road back to the football field has been a long and arduous path for wide receiver Tank Dell. After being carted off the field in December 2024, the Texans have been patiently waiting for his return. Texans fans witnessed online Dell participating in last week’s OTAs as he ran routes with the receivers and warmed up with the team. A truly small step for man, but one giant leap for Texans. With that, I wanted to gauge the pulse of the writers on Dell’s return to the team, their general concern, and thoughts on his impact on the Texans offense. Question: Tank Dell caught passes during last week’s Organized Team Activities (OTAs). While not still 100%, Nick Caserio said he’ll be ready for Training Camp. What impact on the offense do you think Dell will have and are you worried about him reinjuring himself again?Mike Bullock:There is zero doubt that the Texans’ offense is more dynamic and dangerous with Dell on the field. He’s literally their “can score from anywhere, anytime” guy. He is that prototypical lightning bolt on wheels receiver. And while we all love to see those exciting, jaw dropping big plays, they always seem to come at a cost. Will Fuller V, anyone? At this point, expecting Dell to play a full season seems unrealistic. However, if Calley is smart and only uses Dell situationally, he can keep the miles off the dragster. Then, Dell is available deep into the playoffs when teams live and die by “score anywhere/anytime” plays that break games wide open.VBallRetired:This is a huge X factor. If we see 2023 and 2024 Dell then it could be the missing piece. Simply put, this defense hasn’t had a consistent deep threat since Dell went down. You could argue it was the main ingredient missing from the passing game last season. I’m cautiously optimistic at this point. I’m not quite ready to drink the Kool Aid yet. They still need to get Jaylin Noel up to speed just in case. They need an explosive playmakerL4Blitzer:Depends on what sort of player we get back and if the injury gods can leave him alone. If Dell can even get back to the receiver he was at the time of the ill-fated KC game, that would be a bonus. However, it seemed like Dell took a long time that season to get back into the offensive flow. Not impossible that happens again. However, injuries can begat injuries, and Dell can’t seem to avoid them. If Noel takes that next step, it may not matter what Dell does. If nothing else, Dell needs a good season for the sake of his NFL future, as he is a free agent after this year.Kenneth L.: As someone who has suffered two ACL and meniscus reconstructions, I’m eternally worried about Dell’s health and long-term sustainability. It took me 18 months to recover from the second surgery. Dell is approaching 18 months post-operation himself. I’m nowhere near the athlete Dell is, but I understand the process it takes to get back to 100%As for expectations, I think keeping them low is the way to go. The multiple injuries, new offense, and less productive Stroud combine for a weak optimism for this Houston Texans offense. Dell could be the key to unlocking Stroud’s former glory, but every fan knows that’s directly predicated on the blocking of the offensive line. Expecting him to return to his 2023 form will be a tall task. However, that’s the expectation for many fans. I project him to receive a few less targets than Jayden Higgins in this offense and slowly improver week over week throughout the season as he settles into his body and this new offense.0 Kommentare 0 Geteilt 39 Ansichten 0 Bewertungen

WWW.LGBTQNATION.COMGOP enraged over bill to make parentage laws more LGBTQ+-inclusive: “Woke culture run amok”Republicans are up in arms over a New York state bill seeking to make state child custody and parental laws more inclusive to LGBTQ+ families. The New York Legislature passed a bill last week that would amend gendered language in the state’s Family Court Act. Mother and father, for example, would become gestating and non-gestating parents, and paternity would become parentage. Related GOP candidate shows no remorse after disturbing “Anti-Pride Month” declaration On social media, popular right-wing accounts have incorrectly claimed the bill would outlaw the terms “mother” and “father,” rather than provide more inclusive umbrella terms under which “mother” and “father” would fall in some legal contexts. Rather, it seeks to use more general terminology that includes all types of parents seeking to establish legal custody of their children. LGBTQ+ people commonly go through this process since it is common for one or both parents not to be biologically related to their kids. As such, the terminology as it currently stands is outdated. Nevertheless, state Conservative Party Chairman Gerard Kassar told the New York Post the bill represented “woke culture run amok.” “It’s one-upmanship,” Kassar added. “It’s an example of how out of tune the New York legislature is. It’s an unnecessary and wasteful use of time.” He also claimed that inclusive laws like this one would make New York unappealing. “Imagine people who are considering moving to New York seeing this and saying, ‘Do I need this silliness?’ This is a really weird group of elected officials. It comes out of left field.” State Sen. Patricia Canzoneri-Fitzpatrick (R) slammed Democrats for focusing on gendered language “at a time when New Yorkers are being crushed by utility bills, rising costs, and public safety concerns.” “That is not what families are asking for,” she said. “I am a mother and proud to be called ‘mother.'” The bill would not take away her right to be called a mother. Congresswoman Claudie Tenney (R-NY) also voiced outrage, calling the state legislature “out-of-touch” and blasting Democratic lawmakers for turning mothers into a “political construct.” The bill now heads to the desk of Gov. Kathy Hochul (D), who supports LGBTQ+ rights. Hochul has not indicated whether she will sign the bill, but clarified in a statement to CBS Albany that it won’t erase mothers and fathers. “The Governor believes mothers are mothers and fathers are fathers,” said a spokesperson from Hochul’s office, “and no legislation changes that. The legislation, which we will review, appears to address technical legal issues related to surrogacy and parentage. Anyone making bad-faith arguments is deliberately misleading New Yorkers for political gain.” Subscribe to the LGBTQ Nation newsletter and be the first to know about the latest headlines shaping LGBTQ+ communities worldwide.0 Kommentare 0 Geteilt 39 Ansichten 0 Bewertungen -
WWW.404MEDIA.COFCC Wants to Kill Burner Phones By Forcing Telecoms to Get All Customers’ IDsThe Federal Communications Commission (FCC) wants to make it effectively impossible for people to buy what many call burner phones—a phone not explicitly linked to your identity at the point of purchase—which would impact privacy-conscious people, to domestic abuse survivors, to journalists, and many more. The FCC plans to do this by legally forcing the country’s telecoms to store a wealth of personal information about essentially all phone customers, including a government issued identification number and their physical address, alarming privacy advocates and civil rights activists who compare the measures to those from authoritarian countries where it can be difficult to buy a mobile phone plan without giving up your identity. The proposed change would drastically shake up how people obtain phone plans in the U.S., and have all sorts of privacy and cybersecurity knock-on effects. The FCC is proposing the data collection partly as a way to combat scammers, with telecoms being required to collect other information on business and foreign customers like the intended use case of their bulk phone plan purchase and their IP address. But the changes would mean telecoms collect data on all new and renewing customers, and the FCC provides a long list of other things that the collected data could help authorities with.💡Do you know anything else about this proposed change? I would love to hear from you. Using a non-work device, you can message me securely on Signal at joseph.404 or send me an email at joseph@404media.co.“For decades, civil libertarians have looked overseas at authoritarian countries where the government requires people to register to get a mobile phone to ensure they can be tracked. We never thought that would happen here,” Jay Stanley, senior policy analyst at the American Civil Liberties Union’s (ACLU) Speech, Privacy, and Technology Project told 404 Media in an email. “But make no mistake: with this rulemaking, the government is contemplating taking away people’s ability to get a burner phone, which will hurt low-income people, domestic violence victims, and anyone else who cares about their privacy.”In a synopsis of the proposed changes, the FCC writes, “Specifically, we seek comment on requiring originating providers to, at a minimum, obtain and retain the name, physical address, government issued identification number, and an alternate telephone number of any new and renewing customer before granting access to its services.” The goal of collecting this data, the FCC writes, is to deter some scammers from getting onto a telecom network in the first place, and so “enforcers will be better able to identify the scammers when they do.” The FCC compares the changes to the sort of data collected by banks to prevent money laundering. One section stresses that the newly collected data would help “law enforcement to more easily identify callers that use the network to perpetuate crimes by ensuring that voice providers have accurate and complete customer information.” It goes on to ask if the data would help identify people buying and selling illicit goods; the investigation of “fraud, espionage, or influence operations that undermine national security”, and “address abuse in text messaging networks.” “Criminals continue to leverage the anonymity provided by phone calls and texts to defraud Americans and exploit communications networks to further other crimes,” one section reads. At the moment, the FCC is seeking comments about its proposed changes, with interested or concerned parties—think telecom companies, law enforcement, or privacy advocates—able to weigh in. But the intention of the FCC is clear: the agency wants telecoms to be legally obligated to collect much more personally identifying information on new and returning customers, linking them directly to their phone number and phone usage data. The FCC also asks whether the amount of data collected should change depending on whether a customer is seeking a prepaid or a postpaid service plan.Multiple privacy and technology experts strongly pushed back against the proposed changes. “This proposal by the FCC will do little to combat scams and robocalls, since most people doing that will have no trouble creating fake documentation or identities,” Cooper Quintin, security researcher and senior public interest technologist with the Electronic Frontier Foundation (EFF), told 404 Media. “Given this administration’s crackdown on free expression, protest, immigrants, and women’s health we have trouble seeing this as a bold attack on freedom of communication. They want to take away our ability to make an anonymous phone call.”Eric Null, the director of the Privacy & Data Project at the Center for Democracy & Technology, told 404 Media in an emailed statement “To address the scourge of illegal robocalls, the FCC has unfortunately proposed to force every wireless subscriber in the nation to sacrifice their privacy and give up significant personal details before receiving or renewing a wireless line. While some carriers already collect such details, there are specific circumstances where a person may need privacy and anonymity when seeking a cell phone, including if that person is a victim of domestic violence, or is a journalist or whistleblower. This proposal represents a loss of privacy across the board, and from an agency whose remit includes protecting privacy. The FCC might let a few bad apples spoil the whole bunch.”Cape is a privacy-focused telecom company that limits the amount of data it collects on its customers. John Doyle, the company’s CEO, told 404 Media in an emailed statement “We hate robocalls and support eliminating them, but entrusting telecom carriers to effectively create a nationwide ID registry for every American with a phone is not the solution. Mobile carriers have been breached time and again because the incentives to secure trillions of dollars of legacy architecture aren’t there. Further enriching compromised telecom datasets with government ID, physical addresses, and alternate phone numbers harms our security rather than improving it.” Given this proposal is in the comments stage, the FCC has many questions it is hoping to receive information on, such as whether “renewing” customers should be only those new to the provider, or those switching plans with their current telecom; or whether they should not allow the use of P.O. boxes or shared office locations as the required “physical address.”The FCC did not respond to 404 Media’s request for comment. The proposal is open to comments until June 25.0 Kommentare 0 Geteilt 40 Ansichten 0 Bewertungen -
SPORTS.YAHOO.COMStephen A. Smith blames Jalen Brunson for Knicks’ Game 3 loss to SpursThe New York Knicks remain in control of the NBA Finals at 2-1, but their 115-111 Game 3 loss to the San Antonio Spurs has led to questions about offensive decision-making, particularly from star guard Jalen Brunson.Speaking on ESPN’s First Take, Stephen A. Smith pointed directly at Brunson after New York’s 13-game postseason winning streak came to an end at Madison Square Garden.“I’m putting it on the Knicks,” Smith said. “Jalen Brunson, I gotta put this loss on him just as much as anybody. Mike Brown to a smaller degree, but definitely Jalen Brunson.”MORE: Karl-Anthony Towns refuses to blame referees for Knicks’ Game 3 lossBrunson finished with 32 points and five assists but shot 11-for-25 from the field and committed five turnovers. While the box score looks productive, Smith argued the Knicks drifted away from the balanced attack that fueled their dominant playoff run.“You launched double the amount of shots of Karl-Anthony Towns,” Smith said. “You shot more than Karl-Anthony Towns and Josh Hart combined.”His criticism centered on New York’s inability to involve teammates. Hart scored efficiently during the first half, while Towns managed only 11 points on 10 shots despite San Antonio frequently playing smaller lineups.“You had an opportunity to exploit that and take advantage by getting the ball to Karl-Anthony Towns,” Smith added. “You didn’t do that.”Jalen Brunson and the Knicks abandoned their winning formulaNew York Knicks guard Jalen Brunson (11) shoots against San Antonio Spurs guard De'aaron Fox (4) in the fourth quarter during game three of the 2026 NBA Finals at Madison Square Garden. Mandatory Credit: Vincent Carchietta-Imagn Images IMAGN IMAGES via Reuters ConnectThe numbers support part of Smith’s argument. New York made 40 field goals but recorded only 18 assists, a sharp departure from the ball movement and spacing that defined its playoff surge.“That’s not the New York Knicks,” Smith said. “That shows there’s not a lot of fluidity. There’s not a lot of moving of the basketball. There’s not the proper spacing. There’s not a lot of things.”The Spurs capitalized on those issues. Victor Wembanyama delivered 32 points, eight rebounds and six assists, while Stephon Castle added 23 points. San Antonio also forced 13 Knicks turnovers and converted them into 21 points.Smith’s criticism is fair but not absolute. Brunson remains New York’s offensive engine and nearly dragged the team back late. However, championship basketball demands balance. When Towns is underused, Bridges is neutralized by foul trouble, and the offense becomes predictable, elite defenses adjust.MORE: President Donald Trump fires back at Stephen A. Smith following Knicks lossSmith’s strongest observation may have been his simplest.“That New York Knicks team ain’t winning the championship,” Smith said. “The New York Knicks team that’s gonna win the championship is the New York Knicks team that we’ve been watching over the previous 13 games. The ones that showed up last night looked nothing like that team.”0 Kommentare 0 Geteilt 39 Ansichten 0 Bewertungen

SPORTS.YAHOO.COMEx-Ireland centre Payne joins Munster as attack coachPayne recently left his role as Scarlets defence coach [Getty Images]Munster have appointed former Ireland international Jared Payne as the province's new attack coach on a two-year deal. The 40-year-old, who spent four years as Ulster defence coach between 2018 and 2022 after a seven-year playing stint in Belfast, will combine attack and backline coaching responsibilities with Mossy Lawler, who has extended his Munster deal until 2028.New Zealand-born Payne, who earned 20 Ireland caps between 2014 and 2017, also coached Clermont before a three-year spell with Scarlets that ended last month.Payne said he was "incredibly grateful" for the opportunity to join Munster, whose 2025-26 season ended with a United Rugby Championship quarter-final loss to the Bulls on 30 May."Munster is a club with a proud history, strong values and a special connection with its supporters and community. As a family, we're excited to become part of that," he said. "There is a huge amount of ambition across the club and I'm looking forward to working alongside the players and staff to help move the club forward."There is a lot to be excited about and I can't wait to get started."Welcoming the move, Munster head coach Clayton McMillan said Payne has "developed an excellent reputation for empowering players and assisting them to fulfil their potential"."I'm equally delighted that Mossy has extended his contract," added McMillan. "The attack portfolio is vast, and I have always had the view that it is a two-person job. "There is accountability to bring a higher level of detail to their respective areas of responsibility within our attack framework, and I believe that in Mossy and Jared, we have two innovative and detailed coaches who will work outstandingly well together."Payne's arrival follows Jimmy Duffy's appointment as forwards coach after leaving Ulster.Munster initially appointed Roger Randle as attack coach but the move was called off after his planned arrival was met by opposition in some quarters after a 1997 rape allegation resurfaced. The alleged incident occurred in Durban, South Africa, during Randle's playing days with Super Rugby side Hurricanes - a charge that was dropped by the complainant and one he has always denied.0 Kommentare 0 Geteilt 39 Ansichten 0 Bewertungen

SPORTS.YAHOO.COMFrom risk of death to the oldest man at World CupCraig Gordon will become the second-oldest player in World Cup history if he makes an appearance at the 2026 tournament [Reuters]In March this year, Craig Gordon travelled to London to see a man called Usamah Jannoun, a spine doctor who didn't sugarcoat the risks involved in the treatment the 43-year-old needed to fix a neck injury."You've read the information leaflet," Jannoun told the injured Hearts and Scotland goalkeeper."You could get paralysis, you could die…"From there to here - in Charlotte, North Carolina getting ready for a World Cup that must have seemed like an impossible dream only a few short months ago.Behind-the-scenes footage of Gordon talking to Jannoun features in Icons of Football, a BBC Scotland documentary on Gordon's life and times, available on BBC iPlayer from Wednesday at 06:00 BST. It's by turns emotional, harrowing and inspirational.Gordon says his entire career has been a series of comebacks, a litany of fights against the odds.Through a succession of serious injuries - ankle issues, broken arms, broken leg, knee surgeries, neck and shoulder problems - he has missed an estimated 1,975 days of football or around 200 games. Way back in 2012 he suffered patellar tendonitis, a career-threatening condition that kept him out for two years. He visited experts in Sweden and Spain, had three surgeries and visited a psychologist because his club at the time - Sunderland - thought the pain that left him in major difficulty when trying to climb the stairs or walk down the street might have been all in his head. It was not.A surgeon advised Gordon to retire. He decided to carry on. From 2012 to 2014 he played no football. He was the forgotten man, cast into a recurring nightmare of rehab and hope."I suppose I try and hide it," he says of the upset caused by all the physical trauma. "There are definitely times where I've cried because of injury. I just probably don't show it to everybody else."'Diogo will be with you' - Jota's widow writes to Robertson McGinn in the form of his life and now dancing to Scotland's tuneTwo brothers, two nations, one World Cup & how grief bound them'I cried about how much it meant to everybody'Gordon, 43, made his Scotland debut more than 22 years ago, before three members of the current World Cup squad - Ben Gannon-Doak, Findlay Curtis and Tyler Fletcher - were born and when Aaron Hickey was just a year old. The film covers all of that."There was definitely a worry it was something that was going to be longer term, not only in football, but also for the rest of my life," Gordon says about the neck problems that put his World Cup in serious jeopardy.Filmed in real time, he talks about the choice he faced: "Continuing [trying to play] or whether I need to look at the rest of my life and think, 'No, I need to be in a good enough state to play with the kids, to make sure they're getting brought up with a dad that can play with them and be active and do the things that they want to do'."If there was no World Cup, it is likely there would have been a retirement by now. "I think I'd have probably called it quits at the end of last season," Gordon says.Proving people wrong has been his thing - club managers, surgeons, media, fans and Steve Clarke, who readily admits he thought he had ended Gordon's international career when he left him out of the last Euros.Injury and the form of Hearts' Alexander Schwolow means Gordon only played six times - three for his club and three for his country - in the season just ended. One of them stands head and shoulders above all others - the 4-2 victory over Denmark in November that propelled Scotland into their first World Cup in 28 years."I was emotional," he says of that extraordinary night at Hampden. "I definitely cried in my room about that, about how much it meant to everybody."I can still feel it now. I was super focused in that game to the point where Scott McTominay scored one of the best goals I've ever seen in my life and I didn't even react. I just walked back to my six-yard box and got ready for the restart."They equalised, we scored again, they equalised again. It was starting to look like more glorious failure. Kieran [Tierney] puts the ball in the top corner from the edge of the box and, again, I just walked back. Went straight back to my goal, thinking we've got five minutes now. I need to keep the ball out of the net. If I'm celebrating, I'm not clear in what I'm doing."I nearly didn't play this season. I was thinking about going at the end of last season, so to qualify for a World Cup. Wow. That was one last effort. One last goal. And it's come off."He says the World Cup is "almost definitely" the end. It's nip and tuck between Gordon and Angus Gunn for a starting place against Haiti on Saturday. Gunn is the current favourite, but if the past two decades have told us anything about Gordon it's that you write him off at your peril. This is probably the most resilient footballer Scotland has ever produced, a man who has endured a physical and mental buffeting without ever breaking.Gordon is the oldest player at the 2026 tournament and if he gets game time he will become the second-oldest player in World Cup history, a walking miracle to the last.World Cup fixtures and group standingsHow to watch the World Cup on the BBCEverything you need to know about the World Cup0 Kommentare 0 Geteilt 39 Ansichten 0 Bewertungen

SPORTS.YAHOO.COMMirra Andreeva says playing Serena Williams would be one of the highlights of her careerPhoto by Franco Arland/Getty ImagesMirra Andreeva is among the players watching closely as Serena Williams prepares to step back on court in London.Williams’ return at Queen’s Club has become one of the main stories of the grass-court swing, with the 23-time Grand Slam singles champion entered in doubles at the HSBC Championships. For Andreeva, the interest is both professional and personal. The 19-year-old is preparing for the next stage of her own season, but she has also made clear how much Williams’ presence still means to players from a younger generation. The Russian was asked about Williams’ comeback, the prospect of watching her in doubles, and the possibility, however uncertain, of one day facing her in singles.Mirra Andreeva says Serena Williams singles match would be career highlightPhoto by Tim Clayton/Corbis via Getty ImagesAndreeva said she would be watching Williams’ return, with the American due to play doubles alongside Victoria Mboko.“Of course, I will be watching,” Andreeva said. “I’m very, very curious to see Vicky very well. She’s one of my good friends on tour and I would be very, very excited to see how they would play together.“And yes, I will be watching. I will be live streaming their match.”Andreeva was then asked whether she had thought about the possibility of Williams returning to singles and whether she could one day face her.Her answer was careful, but also revealing. Andreeva did not present it as anything more than a possibility, but she made clear how much the match would mean.“I mean, that would be amazing, of course, to play against such a champion, such a legend,” Andreeva said.“I mean, so many things that she’s done for this sport and so many tournaments that she’s won is unbelievable.“And, you know, just thinking that if there is a small chance that she comes back to, you know, if she’s coming back to play singles and if there is like a small chance that I might be playing against her, I mean, that would be amazing.“That would be also maybe one of the highlights of my career. But we will see if that happens, when it happens.“And, you know, if I get a chance to play against her, I would be just very, very excited.”The important part is the caution in the answer. Andreeva did not suggest that a singles match is planned. She did not push the idea further than the question allowed. She simply described what it would mean if the opportunity came. That is why the comment stands out. It says plenty about Williams’ continued place in the sport, but it also reflects Andreeva’s own measured approach as she moves into another major grass-court period.Serena Williams return comes as Andreeva prepares for WimbledonWilliams is making her return in doubles at Queen’s Club alongside Mboko, with the pair receiving a wildcard for the WTA 500 event in London. The pair have been drawn against Nicole Melichar-Martinez and Erin Routliffe in the opening round. There is no confirmed singles return at this stage, which is why Andreeva’s answer has to be treated as a response to a hypothetical question. Still, her reaction shows the scale of Williams’ reputation among current players.Williams’ record explains that respect. Her career includes 23 Grand Slam singles titles, while her WTA profile lists 73 singles titles and 319 weeks as world No. 1.Andreeva is not speaking as a distant observer. She is one of the leading names in the current women’s game, with the WTA listing her as 19 years old, ranked No. 6 and 36-9 for the 2026 season. She is also trying to carry the same mindset into London that she had around the French Open.Andreeva said her goal was to show a strong level of tennis in every match, fight, and play her best point by point. She also said she did not want to set expectations or put pressure on herself. That gives her Williams comments extra context. Andreeva is excited by the idea of sharing a court with one of tennis’ defining champions, but she is not allowing the possibility to become a distraction. For now, Williams’ return is in doubles and Andreeva’s focus is on her own grass-court campaign before Wimbledon runs from June 29 to July 12.The singles question remains open. What is already clear is that Williams’ name still carries rare weight, even for a player from a generation that is now trying to shape the next era of the women’s game.Read more:The one mistake that cost Coco Gauff at Roland Garros; You won’t believe itGreg Rusedski weighs in on whether Mirra Andreeva can reach Aryna Sabalenka’s level after Roland GarrosDominic Thiem sends a direct warning to Alexander Zverev following his Flavio Cobolli victory0 Kommentare 0 Geteilt 39 Ansichten 0 Bewertungen

APNEWS.COMVance demands Justice Department probe of Minnesota officials as White House presses ‘war on fraud’Vice President JD Vance speaks with reporters upon arriving on Air Force Two at Joint Base Andrews, Md., Thursday, May 28, 2026. (AP Photo/Matt Rourke, Pool)2026-06-09T14:49:49Z WASHINGTON (AP) — Vice President JD Vance is pressing federal prosecutors to investigate Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz and state Attorney General Keith Ellison over allegations they failed to stop widespread social services fraud, amplifying concerns the White House will use a new Justice Department division to target political rivals. Vance, who has been tapped to lead the Republican Trump administration’s anti-fraud efforts as he seeks to raise his political profile as a potential 2028 presidential candidate, cited in a letter to the Justice Department a report from the Republican-led House Oversight Committee that alleges Walz and Ellison were aware of pervasive misuse of government programs for years and let it flourish. The Justice Department didn’t immediately respond to questions Tuesday about whether it would open an investigation. It was unclear what, if any, potential violations of federal law could support a probe into the Democratic Minnesota officials, who have characterized a separate Justice Department investigation involving state leaders as politically motivated. The new division has drawn intense scrutiny over the potential for political influence given its close relationship with President Donald Trump’s White House, which announced its formation in January and initially said its leader would answer directly to the president instead of the typical Justice Department command. In his referral, Vance wrote that officials in Minnesota or anywhere else in the country “must be held accountable” if they facilitated fraud, prevented officials from stopping it or retaliated against whistleblowers who tried to report it. “Minnesota state officials are not above the law,” Vance wrote in a post on X. Four-star safety Chance Gilbert shockingly committed to the Auburn Tigers over the Bulldogs, according to Rivals.Gilbert is a four-star safety from the class of 2027. The 5-foot-11, 170-pound prospect plays high school football and runs track and field at East Coweta High School in Sharpsburg, Georgia. Gilbert is the No. 4 safety prospect and No. 56 overall prospect in the nation.East Coweta just recently saw twin brothers Courtney and Courtlin Heard, both three-star offensive tackles, sign and enroll at Georgia Tech. Three-star wide receiver Walter Maestre is from the class of 2027, and according to Rivals' prediction model, Wake Forest is projected to earn his commitment. With Gilbert's commitment, Auburn's class is ranked no. 15. Along with Gilbert, the Tigers have seven four-stars, including linebacker Isaac McNeil, whom Georgia targeted. Auburn has 16 total commits in their class, and they rank No. 5 in the SEC.Georgia, meanwhile, has the No. 24 class in the nation and the No. 7 class in the SEC. However, the arrow is pointing up at them, too. On June 5, they earned a commitment from four-star quarterback Colton Nussmeier, brother of former LSU gun-slinger Garrett Nussmeier. They've also secured commitments from four-star linebacker Joakim Gouda and three-star edge Olayiwola Taiwo in June. They haven't earned a commitment in the secondary in this cycle, but they earned some significant ones last season. They flipped 2026 four-star cornerback Caden Harris, who was Vanderbilt's top 2026 recruit at the time. They also nabbed Tyriq Green, and he made some impact plays at G-Day. SPORTS.YAHOO.COMWatch: Bat blocked by Dickwella's foot? Priyansh Arya's freak run-out triggers fan debateNEW DELHI: Priyansh Arya's fluent innings ended in extraordinary fashion after a bizarre mix-up with Ruturaj Gaikwad and an unfortunate collision with wicketkeeper Niroshan Dickwella's foot during the tri-series opener against Sri Lanka A on Tuesday. An extremely unusual dismissal unfolded in the 13th over after Gaikwad pushed the ball towards deep cover and called for a second run. Priyansh initially responded positively but hesitated midway, by which time Gaikwad had already committed and comfortably made his ground at the striker's end.As both batters ended up stranded at the same end, Priyansh desperately tried to beat his partner back to the crease. However, in a strange twist, his sliding bat got trapped under the foot of wicketkeeper Niroshan Dickwella, preventing him from grounding it in time.Dickwella quickly reacted, underarming the ball to Ravindu Fernando, who broke the stumps at the non-striker's end. Following a referral, the third umpire ruled Priyansh short of his ground, bringing an abrupt end to an impressive 32-ball 32.The incident sparked debate among fans on social media, with several suggesting the left-hander might have beaten Gaikwad to the crease had his bat not been obstructed by Dickwella's foot.WATCH:— tweetsbysohaill (@tweetsbysohaill) Gaikwad's century rescues India AThe bizarre dismissal came after India A had slipped to 16 for two following the early exits of Vaibhav Sooryavanshi and Prabhsimran Singh. Sooryavanshi, playing his first match after a sensational IPL 2026 campaign, made 14 before attempting an ambitious scoop over mid-off off Mohamed Shiraz, only to find Wanuja Sahan Arachchige with the catch.Priyansh and Gaikwad steadied the innings before the mix-up left India A at 69 for three. From there, Gaikwad and captain Tilak Varma rebuilt calmly with a 150-run stand for the fourth wicket. Gaikwad struck his 21st List A hundred, reaching the milestone in 112 deliveries, while Tilak contributed a patient 60 off 97 balls. 131609165Gaikwad eventually fell for a composed 101, and Tilak departed shortly afterwards, but late cameos from Ayush Badoni (24 off 18) and Suryansh Shedge (26 not out off 14) lifted India A to a competitive 276 for six.0 Kommentare 0 Geteilt 39 Ansichten 0 Bewertungen

SPORTS.YAHOO.COM“I belong to Dortmund just as much as BVB does!” – An interview with new signing Lena Ostermeier“I belong to Dortmund just as much as BVB does!” – An interview with new signing Lena OstermeierLena, after 14 years at SGS Essen, you’ll be joining Borussia Dortmund this summer. What made you decide to make the move?I knew that I wanted to play for Borussia Dortmund at some point. I’m from Dortmund, I grew up with BVB, I used to watch the matches even as a child, and it was clear to me that I would have to play for this club one day. Now the time has come.Even so, is there a touch of sadness about leaving Essen?Yes, of course. I grew up and developed as a footballer in Essen. I owe a great deal to Essen. It’s a very close-knit environment that welcomed me with open arms and supported me over many years. So, it’s by no means an easy step to make the move now. Nevertheless, I’m happy to be playing for BVB now and to experience something new.Even though the manager, Markus Högner, is an old acquaintance?Without Markus, I wouldn’t be where I am today. He brought me up from the U17s and I’m incredibly grateful to him for everything he’s made possible for me. After a year apart, I’m glad to have him back as my manager because we simply know what we can expect from each other. Of course, we’ve both developed over the past year, so I’m also curious to see what it’ll be like to train with him again. How would you describe yourself as a player?I’m a hard worker. I throw myself into every tackle and love it every time I win one, sliding in and giving it my all. In attack, I enjoy coaching the players. That means I can control the team from the back and help my teammates that way.You were at home in the Bundesliga. Now it’s the Regionalliga next season. Why are you still convinced that this is the right move for you personally?I’ve noticed how committed BVB are to developing the women’s team. Everything and everyone behind it, everything that’s achieved off the pitch – it’s top-level professionalism. I want to be part of it, take the next step with BVB and help the club move forward. You were born in Schwerte, started playing football at SV Sölderholz, did your PhD at TU Dortmund and are active in the volunteer fire brigade. What does Dortmund mean to you as a city?Dortmund is my home. I grew up in Lichtendorf and still live in Lichtendorf. You could almost say I belong to Dortmund just as much as BVB (laughs). And how much is BVB a part of you?I grew up with BVB. As a small child, I first played football myself in Sölderholz. Afterwards, I’d always watch the BVB matches, get caught up in the excitement, and sometimes head straight back out into the garden afterwards because I wanted to do better if BVB had lost (laughs). So, BVB played a big part in my life from an early age, and it’s lovely that I can now do something for BVB.You didn’t have that chance back then, as there was no women’s football at BVB. How have you experienced the developments over the past few years?I’ve been following it ever since it was discussed at the general meeting. When it was decided that there would be a women’s team, I was absolutely delighted. I also thought it was absolutely the right move to build women’s football from the ground up rather than buying our way into a higher division. That’s what makes BVB what it is. Of course, I would have been happy if it had happened a bit sooner, but I’m still glad that the women’s team is now where it is and that I’m part of it from now on.What does it mean to you emotionally? It’s simply a childhood dream. Back then, you didn’t really think about it that much. At some point, it became clear that you couldn’t actually play for BVB because there was no women’s or girls’ team. That’s why I’m all the more delighted that I’ll finally be able to fulfil that dream from this summer. What are your goals – both personally and with BVB?I’d obviously like to get as much playing time as possible. And to be perfectly honest, I want to win titles with BVB. Unfortunately, I didn’t manage to win a single title at Essen. That’s why I’d be absolutely delighted if we could celebrate league titles and promotion here. But the most important thing, above all else, is to stay healthy.Instead of Hafenstraße, it’ll be Strobelallee for you from now on. As a Dortmund native, how much are you looking forward to the Rote Erde stadium? At Essen, we certainly had one of the best stadiums in the top flight. But the Rote Erde stadium is much richer in tradition and has a completely different character. I was at the stadium for the derby against Schalke. That was very special and I even got goosebumps just sitting in the crowd. Now I’m just incredibly excited that I’ll soon be on the other side and get to experience and take it all in from the pitch.0 Kommentare 0 Geteilt 39 Ansichten 0 Bewertungen

WWW.LGBTQNATION.COMBowen Yang says he felt like “the seasoning” and “never felt central” to SNLOut Saturday Night Live alum Bowen Yang says he “never felt central” to the show, saying that he “never played the dad or the straight man teacher. I was always there as the seasoning.” The actor, comedian, and podcast host’s comment came during an episode of Variety’s Actors on Actors series with Rachel Sennott. The I Love L.A. creator and star asked Yang about his decision to leave SNL late last year, midway through its 51st season. Related Bowen Yang mocks J.K. Rowling’s transphobia in hilariously bizarre Saturday Night Live sketch Yang said he’d actually intended to end his tenure on NBC’s long-running sketch comedy series — which began when he was hired as a staff writer in 2018 — at the end of its previous season. “I was like, ‘I think the show is in a great place without me,’” he told Sennott, adding that he “never felt like I was that central to it to be honest.” Never Miss a Beat Subscribe to our newsletter to stay ahead of the latest LGBTQ+ political news and insights. Yang was nominated for five Primetime Emmy Awards during his time with SNL, and while he was responsible for viral sketches like “The Actress” starring Emma Stone, which he co-wrote with Julio Torres, and made a splash with his appearances on “Weekend Update” playing the iceberg that sank the Titanic and disgraced out Republican George Santos, he noted that he “never played the dad or the straight man teacher. I was always there as the seasoning.” At the same time, Yang told Sennott that he “accepted this,” and felt “so lucky” to “have a steady job in comedy.” Bowen Yang says he left "SNL" because he "never felt central" to the show."I never played the dad or the straight-man teacher. These are the people I’ve hired. It’s a lot of new kids, and a lot of people left. You should be there to set an example for them, at least in the first half of the season. The Las Culturistas host said he burst into tears during the episode’s table read with guest host — and his Wicked co-star — Ariana Grande and special guest Cher. He also recalled SNL booker Keri Powers telling him she’d booked Cher especially for his last appearance. “I was like, ‘I can’t deal with that. I’m the luckiest gay guy to ever live,’” Yang said.
