New Features Guide

We have added several new features to make onboarding easier, improve discovery, and give you more control over your profile.

If you do not see one of the features below, it may not be enabled on your site yet.

1. Pick Your Interests During Getting Started

New users can now choose interests during the Getting Started flow. This helps personalize recommendations and improves the content shown on the home feed.

How to use it

1. Sign up or log in to a new account.
2. Open Getting Started.
3. Go to the interests step.
4. Select the topics that match your interests.
5. Save your choices.

Your selected interests are used to improve recommendations across the site.

2. Finish Setup With the Onboarding Checklist

After signup, users may see an onboarding checklist on the home feed. This checklist helps complete important setup actions such as adding a profile photo or choosing interests.

What you can do from the checklist

• Go back to Getting Started and finish incomplete steps
• Jump directly to the interests section
• Complete profile setup faster

Checklist items update as each step is completed.

3. Personalized Picked for You Recommendations

The home feed can now show a Picked for You section with recommended people, pages, groups, and events.

How recommendations work

• They use your selected interests
• They can improve over time based on what you interact with
• They appear on the main home feed

Controls available to users

• You can close the Picked for You card if you do not want to see it
• You can bring it back by clicking Show Recommendations in the feed filter bar

4. Show Recommendations Toggle in the Feed Filter Bar

If you close the recommendations card, you do not need to reload the page or reset settings to see it again.

How to restore recommendations

1. Go to the main home feed.
2. Look at the filter bar near Recent Updates, All Countries, and All.
3. Click Show Recommendations.

This will restore the Picked for You section.

5. Change Your Profile Avatar From Your Profile

Users can now choose an avatar directly from their own profile using the same avatar library available during Getting Started.

How to change your avatar

1. Open your own profile page.
2. Click the camera icon on your profile photo.
3. Click Choose Avatar.
4. Select an avatar category.
5. Choose the avatar you want to use.

The selected avatar will be applied to your profile photo.

Other profile photo options

• Upload Photo to upload a new image
• Select Photo to use one of your existing photos
