Mary Lambert reveals the important lessons she learned following her public divorce
Mary Lambert is learning to truly loving herself. The talented singer is known for beloved gay anthems like "Same Love," "She Keeps Me Warm," and "Secrets," but her comeback single "The Tempest" is some of her proudest work yet.Following a public divorce from her partner back in 2024, Lambert is channeling all of her energy into her new music and diving into important themes of heartbreak, oppression, and rebellion."I had this vision of being at a bar and flipping a table and throwing my tampon at a wall! I just wanted it to be so undeniably feminist. This is about anybody whose rights are under threat. It feels really good to release something like that," Lambert tells PRIDE. See on Instagram Lambert has happily moved on to a new loving relationship since her divorce, but the talented songwriter is stepping into her power by prioritizing self-love more than ever."My last relationship was very public and I made my identity about the relationship. When that relationship goes away, what are you left with? I had to rebuild and it's been such a great exercise to trust my own decision making. The relationship is a part of my life, but it doesn't define my life."With so much political unrest targeting the LGBTQ+ community today, Lambert hopes that her voice can inspire others to find their purpose and realize that they're not alone in these challenging times."I just want people to be able to access their most authentic, honest selves. I honestly think it is a privilege to be able to access your most honest self. I feel like the album covers the whole gambit of that, along with the political messaging. It's the best thing I've ever made!"Fans can follow Mary Lambert on Instagram here. To see the full interview, check out the video at the top of the page.
