Plant immune receptor engineered to protect against more than 100 viruses

A protein-engineering strategy, in which a constitutively active form of an immune receptor is kept inactive by a peptide until it is cleaved by pathogen protease enzymes, confers durable and complete resistance against many viruses that affect crop plants.
