Highly efficient deep-blue LED devices made using hybrid copperiodide compound

Nature, Published online: 06 August 2025; doi:10.1038/d41586-025-02393-1A non-toxic, robust and solution-processable copperiodide-based hybrid semiconductor that emits deep-blue light with nearly 100% emission efficiency has been designed and used as the sole light-generating layer to make light-emitting diodes (LEDs). Sandwiching this layer between two hydrogen-bonded capping layers greatly enhances the efficiency and operational lifetime of the LEDs.
