MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred said in a letter to Missouri Republican Sen. After the game had concluded, my office issued a routine oral warning about the uniform policy violation — unfortunately, it was issued before we became aware of the Giants' lapse in communication,” Manfred added. “The players were neither fined nor disciplined, nor will they ever be.”

Months after cutting down the nets as a national champion, Dusty May left Michigan for the NBA. He is taking over as the Dallas Mavericks’ head coach in a move that made waves across college basketball.May is the first sitting college coach to take an NBA job since John Beilein did so in 2019 when he left Michigan to become the Cleveland Cavaliers’ head coach. That means it’s the first such move since NIL and the transfer portal became parts of the landscape, and CBS Sports’ Matt Norlander said the modern era played a role in May’s decision.During his time in Ann Arbor, May spoke about the challenges coaches face in the new era. In fact, he recently said he didn’t “feel like a national champion” because of how quickly the staff had to pivot to the transfer portal. The Iowa high school sports landscape is changing, as eighth graders will soon be able to begin their high school athletic careers a year early. The changes come after the Iowa State Board of Education approved emergency rules on June 18. The rules will take effect Aug. 1, ahead of the 2026-27 school year.The new rule is intended to increase participation in certain sports, particularly at smaller schools across the state. "I think what we may see is schools being able to field JV teams, freshman teams that they haven't been able to field before," said Tom Keating, executive director of the Iowa High School Sports Association. "It gives kids a little bit more opportunity to play developmentally. Instead of sitting on the bench maybe in a varsity uniform, they get a chance to play at a lower level."Although Keating and the Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union Executive Director Erin Gerlich were involved in the passage of House Bill 2591, they met with the Board of Education before the emergency rules were drafted and provided input. Now, it's their job to help schools prepare for this change."Our role now is to help our schools navigate this," Keating said. "It's just important for us to help our schools get comfortable with it and get in a position where they feel like they can implement it."Under current rules, eighth graders are already eligible to try out for varsity baseball and softball teams because both sports take place during the summer. School districts will have the option to adopt the policy, but they will not be required to do so. Right now, schools are simply trying to understand the new rules and how it might impact their programs, or even the junior high schools in their areas. "There's a lot of anxiety because there are a lot of unknowns," said Keating. "Once the unknowns become known, things will calm down and the anxiety kind of subsides a little bit and people feel a little more comfortable with the implementation and how to navigate it."Iowa is far from the first state to adopt this policy. There are 24 other states who currently allow eighth graders to compete on high school teams. Keating said he has already sought advice from athletic administrators in those states.The best advice he's received?"Start small," said Keating. "Don't try to swallow the whale. Take it, take it one step at a time. You'll learn as you go along where you can open things up and where where you can provide more opportunities."To help schools understand the change, Keating and Gerlich have created a Q&A document and scheduled a webinar with athletic directors to explain the new rules and help schools make informed decisions.The emergency rules mark the beginning of a new era of Iowa high school sports, but the process is far from complete."The rules that were passed on the 18th may change," said Keating. After the NFL dealt Brendan Sorsby a devastating setback, his path to professional football appears to lead only to the 2027 NFL Draft. With no supplemental draft scheduled for 2026 and Sorsby no longer part of the Texas Tech Red Raiders football program, his options are limited. His attorney could pursue legal action against the NFL, but that route appears unlikely to gain traction. One long-shot alternative would be for Sorsby to continue playing in 2026 through junior college football, commonly known as JUCO football.Often referred to as “Last Chance” football, JUCO is not entirely outside the realm of possibility. The National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) governs junior college athletics separately from the NCAA, with the exception of California schools, which fall under the California Community College Athletic Association (CCCAA).MORE: NFL decision on supplemental draft leaves Brendan Sorsby out of options for 2026There is precedent for players turning to JUCO after their college careers hit major obstacles. Cam Newton, for example, enrolled at a junior college after Florida dismissed him from the program. Newton’s situation differed significantly because Florida dismissed him from the program, but his NCAA eligibility was not permanently voided. In practice, however, that would be an uphill battle. The NFL can point to established policies and precedent supporting its position, making a successful challenge difficult.Beyond legal action, Sorsby could explore opportunities in leagues such as the UFL or Arena Football One. Neither option would allow him to play during the 2026 season because their schedules have already concluded. However, if maintaining football activity before the 2027 NFL Draft becomes a priority, those leagues could still provide a path forward.At the end of the day, Sorsby made several gambles—not only with the wagers that led to his suspension, but also with his football career. Had he accepted the NCAA’s ruling rather than continuing to challenge it, he may have improved his chances of receiving consideration for a supplemental draft.Now, Sorsby must deal with the consequences of those decisions.

ORCHARD PARK - The price tag to build the new Highmark Stadium, right around $2.2 billion at last check, made it the most expensive construction project in Western New York history.Having taken a tour Tuesday morning following the pomp and circumstance of the official ribbon cutting, the place looks exactly like you’d expect for something that cost $2.2 billion.Spectacular is the word that comes to mind, and while everything is going to be much more expensive for fans compared to the old place which is in the process of getting torn down across Abbott Road, no one is going to be disappointed with the experiences they are about to have.Bills new stadium makes an immediate impression“It's awesome,” said former Bills quarterback and Pro Football Hall of Famer Jim Kelly who was on hand for the ceremony where New York State Governor Kathy Hochul, team owner Terry Pegula, and former owner Ralph Wilson’s wife, Mary, were among those who simultaneously cut the ribbon which declared the building open.“I've been in here three or four times now,” Kelly continued, “and I've gotten to walk in the locker room, I've been in there and it's amazing and I can't wait for opening day. Even though you know they're going to have a couple of preseason games here, I can't wait to see them open up on Sept. 17th.”Tuesday began with a media tour of the building, followed by speeches from the dignitaries, the ribbon cutting, media interviews, and then a food and beverage party in one of the main hospitality areas in the lower concourse which was attended by hundreds of invited guests.Inside the vision behind the Bills new Highmark StadiumOne man who was not seated at the main dais was former Bills linebacker Scott Radecic who, after his playing career ended turned to architecture and became a founding partner and global director of Populous, the world’s leading architecture firm specializing in sports and entertainment venues and the one Pegula chose to build the stadium.Radecic played for Penn State’s national championship team in 1982, then entered the NFL as a second-round pick of the Kansas City Chiefs in the 1984 draft. After three seasons he joined the Bills in 1987 where he played three years before finishing his career playing six seasons with the Indianapolis Colts.Almost from the moment Radecic took on the Highmark Stadium project, he knew the place was going to be special. During his speech Tuesday, Pegula recalled traveling to London where he visited Tottenham Hotspur Stadium and once he saw it, he asked Radecic, “Can you build me this?”So Radecic did and looking at the finished product, you could see the pride he had, given the significant role he played in designing it.“I’m in my 35th year now of doing this, there have been lots of really magical projects, and some have been for former teams whether it's been for Penn State or for the Indianapolis Colts,” Radecic said. “But this has got to be one of my top projects to be able to deliver a brand new building, for Populous, to the people of Western New York.“To come back to a team that I used to play with and be a part of what that future fan experience is going to be, knowing that the stadium will help to create moments and experiences, create memories that young people will have with their mom and dad, grandma, grandpa and all that type of stuff, it's really extraordinary. It's an extraordinary building, it's as good as anything in the world, and it's right here in Orchard Park, New York.”Bills players get upgraded spaces built for advantageObviously, giving the fans every possible amenity is a big priority, but as a former player, Radecic pays special attention to the needs of the players whenever he builds a stadium and he is thrilled to deliver work spaces that will give the Bills a true homefield advantage.“I remember playing here in 40-degree rain and the minute you go out onto the field early just to warm up, and you get on the ground, next thing you know you're wet,” he said. “So we have designed as part of the home team locker room, the largest home team warm-up area of any stadium in the National Football League.“And the reason we did that was on those extreme days, you want to make sure that every player has done all their warm-up to their best so that when they come on the field, they're ready to play. We didn't want the weather or the grass or the wet or anything like that to be any type of a negative influence on not being prepared.”The area is big enough for Josh Allen to throw 50-yard passes, and there are exercise spaces, hot and cold tanks, sauna and steam rooms, and, “Anything that a player needs for the before game warm-up or the after-game recovery, and I feel like some of that has come from those experiences I had of being in those 40-degree rainy days and remembering what that was like and thinking, ‘How do we make sure that every player is always going to be prepared, no matter what the weather conditions are?’”Kelly, who was one of the Bills’ star players during Radecic’s tenure here, said he loved the fact that the Bills are going to a grass field which, Radecic said, is a hybrid bluegrass mixture that thrives in this climate “and will hold up well.” And having been down on the field late last week at a time when the wind was howling in Orchard Park, the same storm that caused power outages in the region, Kelly said, “The last time I walked out on the field it was pretty windy outside, and I felt nothing but a breeze. Who wouldn’t want to play in that?”Bills stadium design focuses on fan comfort and accessThe hospitality areas are as you would expect in a 21st-century new build venue - they are over-the-top luxurious with every creature comfort imaginable. But the ordinary fan who will be sitting out in the main seating bowl and not in a suite with exclusive access to clubs will be pampered as well.The open-air concourses are wide, easily navigable and contain ambient heating fixtures that will lessen winter’s frigid bite late in the season. The concession areas are ample, and there are numerous self-serve places where you can swipe a credit card to gain access to certain food items and beverages and help yourself without having to wait in line to check out.“The way we designed the concourses, we've put all the amenities on the outer perimeter so that as you walk any of the concourses, you can just turn your head and you can see the field so you're always connected,” Radecic said.“The old stadium, once you left the seating bowl you could not see the field. We wanted to give everybody who's in the building, no matter where they are in the building, give them that connection to the field of play, to a scoreboard, to a video board, to something. And no matter where you are, you have that experience. And I think that's just going to be a game changer for people over the next couple of decades.”Bills prioritize sound and connectivity over giant screensOne thing fans will notice is that the main video boards above each end zone are not humongous as say, places like Los Angeles, Dallas and even Baltimore. John Polka, vice president of stadium development, said that was by design because the Bills want their fans engaged with the game rather than staring up at the JumboTron. The bigger priority was to install the very best sound system, plus make sure WiFi connectivity was premium level.The regular seats seem just a little snug, especially for a heavier person, but the leg room seems improved from the old stadium which will make egress and ingress easier when you need to leave your seat.Also, the height and verticality of the stadium is a stark difference from the old stadium, and that means that even fans sitting in the upper deck will feel like they’re hovering over the field.“Think about the intimacy of the seating bowl, it feels like you're walking into the old Roman Colosseum,” Radecic said. “Everybody's on top, it's vertically on top of (the visiting team) and it's really intimidating.“We're in an outdoor stadium but this building is going to help keep people just a little warmer and just a little drier than they've ever been for the last 50 years. He was denied entry to Canada having been charged with seven counts of rape and one count of sexual assault in London between 2020 and 2022.Partey told officials in the host country that he had never been arrested or charged with a crime. He denies all charges and will attempt to clear his name at a trial next summer.But England fans seemed unwilling to forget and were hostile towards him from the start, booing as his name was read out ahead of kick-off.He was also jeered when he was on the ball in the opening minutes of the game.

During the June 13 game against the Detroit Tigers, the Guardians lost Jose Ramirez to a fractured left hamate bone, Angel Martinez to a fractured left foot, and Chase DeLauter after he fractured a rib. Last week was the first time this club was without all three, and it certainly showed. They struggled to get much of anything going, but they were up against some stiff competition. With this, Bleacher Report's Joel Reuter has bumped them down a few spots, from No. 8 to No. 11 in his latest power rankings. "The Guardians lost Jose Ramirez, Chase DeLauter and Angel Ramirez all to injury two weeks ago, and their first week without them in the lineup did not go well. They scored 21 runs in six games, with eight of those coming in Saturday's win over the Astros."The offense has surely taken a hit, and while they woke up a bit on Monday in the first of a three-game series against the Chicago White Sox, who they are neck-and-neck with in the division, they still lost 6-5. President Donald Trump’s Justice Department has joined a lawsuit filed by an extremist religious freedom organization on behalf of nuns at a Catholic hospice in New York, challenging a state law requiring nursing facilities to affirm their patients’ gender identities. The suit was filed in April by Colorado law firm First & Fourteenth, which is currently co-counsel with the Christian nationalist organization First Liberty Institute on another “religious discrimination” case in a U.S. District Court in Colorado. Martin Nussbaum said in April as the lawyer spearheading the suit in the nuns’ name (despite their stated desire to stay out of court). The Dominican Sisters operate a 42-bed end-of-life care facility called Rosary Hill Home in Westchester County. According to the nuns, patients at their cancer hospice are typically under their care for two to three months — they know they are dying when they arrive. Dhillon, said in a statement announcing the department’s participation in the lawsuit. “States should take notice that they cannot require Americans to abandon their religious beliefs in the name of woke gender ideology,” she said. “For more than a century, the Dominican Sisters of Hawthorne have provided free palliative care to indigent [very poor] cancer patients in their last days,” said the head of the DOJ division that Trump has weaponized in his anti-trans crusade. “New York’s law would force these religious women to choose between their faith and their license if they wish to continue serving the dying.” That choice seems to have been imposed on the nuns by the preemptively filed lawsuit. The law in question — The Long-Term Care Facility Residents’ Bill of Rights for LGBTQIA+ New Yorkers and People Living with HIV, signed by New York Gov. Kathy Hochul (D) in 2023 — mandates that long-term care facilities in New York give patients access to bathrooms, hospital beds, and other amenities that align with their gender identities. No complaint has been filed against the sisters over the law, the state has not taken any action against them, and the nuns maintain they’re never cared for a transgender patient. In April, the sisters applied for an exemption to the law, but did not hear back immediately. At least one religious exemption has been provided by New York’s Department of Health, which administers the law, to the Church of Christ Scientist over the same concerns. Despite those facts, First & Fourteenth convinced the sisters to sue, characterizing the state health department’s explanations of the law as formal “warnings” that the sisters were breaching it. In an interview with the National Catholic Register publicizing the case, First & Fourteenth’s Nussbaum said one health department letter accused the sisters of refusing “to assign a room to a resident other than in accordance with the resident’s gender identity,” denying a trans resident use of a bathroom that aligned with their gender identity, and “willfully and repeatedly” failing to use a resident’s preferred name or pronouns. With Kevin Stefanski calling the shots, Pitt’s involvement in the offense could take another leap. It should also be noted that with Austin Hooper and Charlie Woerner rostered, the team will have enough solutions for inline duties. NEW DELHI: England have made four changes to their playing XI for the series-deciding third Test against New Zealand at Trent Bridge, with captain Ben Stokes and fast bowler Gus Atkinson returning to the side. Jamie Smith and Shoaib Bashir have also been recalled, replacing James Rew, Jordan Cox, Matthew Fisher and Sonny Baker.The changes come after England's disappointing 253-run defeat in the second Test at The Oval, where a heavily altered lineup failed to chase down a target of 463. New Zealand's victory levelled the series at 1-1, setting up a winner-takes-all finale.Stokes and Atkinson missed the second Test after breaching the team's midnight curfew following England's win in the opening Test. The pair were present during an incident involving an ECB security staff member and a Saracens rugby player, which led to an investigation.However, a disciplinary hearing later cleared both players of any violent conduct. The ECB stated that Stokes was not involved in the altercation, while Atkinson was the victim of unprovoked attacks and did not retaliate. Both players did receive written warnings for breaking team conduct rules.Ahead of the Trent Bridge Test, England coach Brendon McCullum rejected speculation that his relationship with Stokes had become strained following the controversy."We talked about that this morning," McCullum said. "I said, 'do you know where this has come from, the conversations around our relationship over the last six months?' How about a reunion to honor the league’s 30th anniversary? ESPN Senior Vice President of Sports Production Tim Corrigan asked. The Women’s Basketball Hall of Fame members delivered identical answers: If the other said yes, they would do it. Which is how Roberts and Auriemma came to join veteran play-by-play commentator Beth Mowins as one-time color analysts on the call for the July 7 game between the Dallas Wings and New York Liberty (8 p.m. ET, ESPN). The duo will reunite as one of the ongoing 30th anniversary tributes amid exploding growth in the WNBA. They called two seasons together for ESPN/ABC, the only company to air games since the league’s inception, with play-by-play lead Roberts continuing on as the early voice of the league alongside other analysts. Expect there to be plenty of color upon their reunion, this time in upgraded high definition. On the 29th anniversary of their first call on ESPN — the Utah Starzz defeated the Los Angeles Sparks 102-89 at home on June 23, 1997 — Roberts landed an early dig on a meandering path down memory lane. “Geno, will you be prepared this time?” the “Good Morning America” co-host asked. “I remember you showed up and you had a napkin with a couple of notes. Three are Auriemma’s most recent star-studded alumnae. Breanna Stewart, an unprecedented four-time NCAA champion at UConn and three-time WNBA champion, is off to another MVP-caliber campaign for the Liberty (11-6). The Wings (11-6) feature the most recent No. 1 overall picks, Paige Bueckers and Azzi Fudd, who won UConn’s 13th and most recent national title together in 2025. “I don't have to coach them,” Auriemma said. “So I can say all the things I've always wanted to say about them. So I'm looking forward to it.”Roberts remained close to the game after her Emmy Award-winning career as an ESPN broadcaster, celebrating the league’s successes and often sharing its biggest news on the morning show. Her Rock’n Robin Productions company announced a documentary on the expansion Toronto Tempo last week, and released one on late Tennessee head coach Pat Summitt earlier this year. She became an equity investor in the Liberty in October and is a regular at Liberty and Connecticut Sun games. The journalist in her is taking the assignment seriously, to the point that she said she feels like a coach taping and rewatching games. Many of her GMA staffers, including one young producer, are massive WNBA fans there to help her in the lead-up. Or maybe even on the air.“It might be a little bit like ‘Devil Wears Prada,’ I might have a little earpiece in my ear with her feeding me some info,” Roberts said. “I know that there will be some heightened interest. The audience watching now, it's different. Before you could get away with maybe not knowing your stuff as much. This is a very, very savvy audience.”When Roberts and Auriemma announced their first game together in 1997, it was the second game of those teams’ existence. Interest was high for a league hawked by NBA Commissioner David Stern, but dropped off in the 2000s as teams folded. The environment is different even since the 25th anniversary. There will be a record 18 teams by 2030 as the league expands, including to a 50-game schedule next year. Viewership is at all-time highs, with games regularly nabbing 1 million viewers on various networks. A Fever-Liberty matchup in June set the 2026 high-water peak of 3.02 million. And social media takes everything to an entirely different level. Auriemma knows the only way they’ll make that many waves is if either of them says something “outrageous,” which he acquiesced might happen. Roberts felt it was a disservice to the audience not to have a third, more seasoned veteran of the game in the booth. Mowins will be there to guide the ship, allowing Roberts and Auriemma to add “fun and some flavor,” Auriemma said, while reminiscing on how the league began and how it arrived here. “I just want to be in the moment,” Roberts said. “I think that’s the thing that Geno and I really excelled at that time. I think sometimes you can get too much in your head.” She’ll soak in the regular sight of a sold-out crowd at Barclays, recalling that not long ago, the top bowls of NBA arenas were curtained off due to low ticket sales. This year, more than half the league is averaging at least 10,000 fans per game, with four cracking the 14K mark, according to Across the Timeline. (Three teams are selling out arenas with a capacity of 7,000 or less.) Auriemma won’t need to name-drop men to make his point. “In order to legitimize what we were doing back then, we had to compare every player to an NBA player,” Auriemma said. “Now we can talk about them in their own right and compare them to each other, the great players in the league. So we've got a whole different script to work with now.”Once they each heard the other had confirmed their nostalgia-fueled event, Roberts said they were more focused on where to eat dinner the night before and head out to drinks afterward. Auriemma may make notes on that dining napkin again. But unlike when he was simply trying to figure it all out 30 years ago, he can fall back on a wealth of knowledge. Even if it still might careen off course. “I do remember, one time, I said, ‘Hey, Robin, remember we went to lunch today at Roberto's? That's a great place, wasn't it?’” Auriemma said. “And you go, ‘Yeah, I really liked it.’ And [Corrigan] is in my ear going, ‘Shut the hell up and talk about the game.’“Now that we are older, we can say whatever we want, Rob.”Chipped in Roberts: “What are they going to do, fire us?”“Yeah, what are they going to do,” Auriemma said, “fire us?”

England were held to a frustrating goalless draw against Ghana in their second World Cup group-stage match in Boston on Tuesday. After so much optimism following the entertaining 4-2 win against Croatia, it was a draining afternoon for Thomas Tuchel’s side this time around in a result which leaves Group L, and specifically top spot, in the balance. Following a drab first-half, Bukayo Saka and Elliot Anderson had decent openings in the second-half before Harry Kane spurned the best opportunity of the match late on. But the Three Lions struggled to create many chances against a dogged, defensive Ghanaian outfit, coached by ex-Man Utd assistant Carlos Queiroz. The result, which means England have drawn their second match in their last four major tournaments, means both England and Ghana are level on four points ahead of their final matches on Saturday: England face group minnows Panama and Ghana take on Croatia. Here’s how the England players rated after their 0-0 draw against Ghana: England Jordan Pickford – 6 Did not have a single save to make but was perhaps fortunate to escape without sanction after a collision with Ghana substitute Prince Kwabena Adu outside the penalty area. A welcome clean sheet after conceding two goals against Croatia. Reece James – 6 Teamed up nicely with Noni Madueke on the right again but was slow and predictable with the ball at his feet. Was it the sort of game where England missed the ingenuity of, say, Trent Alexander-Arnold at right back? Ezri Konsa – 7 Made a crucial intervention from Antoine Semenyo in the box at the end of the first-half and looked more assured after his shaky World Cup debut against Croatia. Was he lucky not to give away a penalty in the second-half? Perhaps. Marc Guehi – 6 Replacing Manchester City teammate John Stones in the starting XI, Guehi slotted in seamlessly. Should start at the back for the foreseeable, such is his poise and pace. Had a header cleared off the line in stoppage time. Djed Spence – 7 The surprise starting pick over Nico O’Reilly, Spence was solid on his first World Cup start. While he didn’t actually face a single one-on-one battle with Antoine Semenyo, he did cover well to deny Marvin Senaya after his second-half burst into the box. Didn’t do enough with a free header at the back post on 61 minutes. Declan Rice – 6 Most influential player on the pitch in the first-half, with a first-half free-kick and header over the bar, but did pick up a needless booking. Set-piece deliveries were, perhaps, a tad predictable. Noni Madueke – 6Again, won the battle of the wingers, but wasn’t as impactful as he was against Croatia. Bright on the right-hand side and carved out more opportunities than Gordon on the left. Could lose his spot to Bukayo Saka. Jude Bellingham – 5 Struggled to make an impact going forward, but did make a perfectly timed tackle to deny Semenyo a run on goal. A bit stale, nonetheless. Anthony Gordon – 4Quiet last week, the Barcelona winger actually started sharply but faded massively and backed out of an aerial contest with Senaya defensively, which almost cost England a goal. He did have the first shot on target of the game in the 57th minute, but Gordon will be lucky not to lose his starting spot for Marcus Rashford against Panama on Saturday. Anthony Gordon struggled to influence proceedings (Reuters)Harry Kane – 5 Overtook David Beckham (watching on in the stands) in the all-time England appearance list... but that was just about as good as it got for the England captain on Tuesday. And that glorious late chance, skying high with his left foot with the goal at his mercy, will haunt him. An off day. Substitutes: Bukayo Saka - 7. Had a really good sight on goal after coming on, but his header ballooned over. Also worked keeper Asare with a shot rifled towards the corner. Is he fit enough to start against Panama? Nico O’Reilly - 6. So unlucky not to score after rising highest in the box late on, but his header rattled the crossbar. Morgan Rogers – 6. Looked bright when he came on for Bellingham and may well get his chance from the start against Panama. Eberechi Eze - 5. Gave the ball away cheaply, which presented a chance for Ghana on the break. Didn’t do much attacking-wise in his 20 minutes on the pitch. Marcus Rashford - 7. The main question is: why did it take Tuchel until 82 minutes to bring him in? The Reds hope to push this over the line ASAP.Yan Diomande is the no.1 target at Liverpool and it looks more and more likely that they'll get him. If Richard Hughes and company can justify the price tag RB Leipzig set, that is.The Athletic suggests that's not entirely guaranteed. A €100m offer was rejected, though it's entirely possible that the structure of that bid was what ruined Liverpool's day.What we do know is that Liverpool feel Diomande is worth roughly €100m. Finding a way to get Leipzig to agree with that is the final stage of completing a deal, as Media Foot claims that an agreement with the player is already in place.Now, that's certainly not a formal, signed agreement. Instead, Liverpool have the verbal agreement of Diomande and his representatives ahead of a move.It suggests that Paris Saint-Germain are no longer a major factor here. It also suggests that the price tag is all that's preventing this one from being done and dusted.And so the next few weeks are massive. Liverpool will want to talk Leipzig down to €100m, possibly in full. Leipzig will either want far more than that or for the Reds to disappear and leave them alone.But if Liverpool can win this little battle, the player is theirs. Aside from the fact that Pitts has two more years of NFL production (entering year six) to the younger Kincaid (entering year four), what stands out is how durable Pitts has proven during most of his career. Apart from the 2022 NFL season where he played in just 10 games, Pitts appeared in every game for the Falcons in 2021, later repeating the feat from 2023 through 2025 — starting a total of 72 of 78 games played. In contrast, Kincaid has missed 10 games in three seasons, starting 24 of 41 games played since 2023. But how do Pitts and Kincaid compare when just looking at numbers? Kincaid is close, with his 17-game averages as follows: 89 targets, 65 catches, 702 yards and four scores per season. Keep in mind, however, that there are a few key items affecting Kincaid’s stats. First is the presence of quarterback Josh Allen, and second is the presence of co-starting tight end Dawson Knox. Yes, and Kincaid’s inclusion in the 2026 NFL Pro Bowl Games will help his cause in the matter.You can bet if he turns in a season that compares to his current 17-game averages, Kincaid and his agent would likely use the Pitts deal as framework when they get to the negotiation table with Bills brass.However, that sit down doesn’t necessarily have to occur in the near future. As mentioned above, Kincaid is entering his fourth year in the NFL — with a $4.2 million cap hit in 2026 — and the Bills have exercised his fifth-year option, which means he is set to represent a very manageable $8.2 million cap hit in 2027.But now, with this Pitts deal, we all have parameters for what a second contract for Kincaid may very well look like if and when the Bills decide to extend him.

Josh Hokit was already unimpressed by Alex Pereira before the former two-division champion's latest loss to Ciryl Gane at UFC Freedom 250. That hasn't changed after.Hokit and Pereira infamously got into a heated back-and-forth at the event’s pre-fight press conference in May. The rising heavyweight contender was fully entrenched in one of his brash, trash-talking characters, berating Pereira, before now-former lightweight champion Ilia Topuria stepped in. The exchange led to Hokit's removal from the stage.Speaking on Tuesday's edition of "The Ariel Helwani Show" in a rare out-of-character appearance, Hokit explained why he targeted Pereira in the first place."I don't think Pereira's career is what everyone says it," Hokit told Uncrowned. "He was fighting for his third title, and they said he was going to go down as the greatest of all time. I mean, the accolades, if we're talking about the belts, yeah, no one's done that. But I feel like all his matchups have been favorable matchups. He hasn't faced anybody with my skill set, or even like a wrestling pedigree. People want to talk about, ‘Oh, [Magomed] Ankalaev is a wrestler as well.’ I don't even know if he's even put on a singlet and had a wrestling match. All of his matchups have been kickboxing matchups. "I want to prove that it's not real. The NCAA on Tuesday announced what it called a sweeping change to eligibility rules for Division I athletes. The goal is to reduce some of the chaosthat has surrounded college sports since athletes won the right to earn money, transfer without penalty and forced the industry to start sharing millions of dollars in revenue with players. Here is what to know:The NCAA added a yearFor years, the NCAA allowed athletes five years to complete four years of competition. It now will allow five seasons of competition over a five-year period that begins with an athlete's full-time enrollment or the academic year following their 19th birthday, whichever occurs first.The NCAA also ended waiversThe move will all but eliminate waivers for injuries or redshirt years for extended eligibility except for religious missions, pregnancy or active-duty military service. Notably, the NCAA said the change “will align athletics eligibility with enrollment and graduation patterns for the general student population” rather than carving out wildly different scenarios for athletes. Why change anything at all?College coaches have complained that their rosters are in constant flux because athletes are able to transfer without the old penalty of having to sit out a year before playing at their new school. By limiting the overall timeframe to five years, the hope is to limit at some of the more casual transfers and provide some stability. The NCAA also wanted to have a simple rule in place after a series of court fights with athletes seeking to extend their college careers, in some cases to cash in via revenue sharing and name, image and likeness deals. Legal challenges to the new rules are certainly possible.How does it work?The new eligibility model will affect all athletes who enroll in 2027-28. Currently enrolled athletes with eligibility after the 2025-26 academic year, and those who are incoming freshmen this fall, can apply the age-based model or continue under previous eligibility rules.
