Bezos Wedding Guests Delighted By Amazon Worker With Ring Tied To Collar Crawling Down Aisle
VENICE, ITALYSmiling at the couples lighthearted twist on a traditional ring bearer, guests at the wedding of Jeff Bezos and Lauren Snchez were reportedly delighted this week by the sight of an Amazon worker with a ring tied to his collar crawling down the aisle. Oh my gosh, my heart is meltingsuch a good boy, wedding attendee Sierra Neal said of the 28-year-old Amazon employee, who was dressed in a dog collar and his mandatory high-visibility warehouse vest as he ambled clumsily on his hands and knees to deliver the rings to the bride and groom. I know most people would have just left him in the crate at home, but hes a big part of their life, so Im glad Jeff and Lauren were able to incorporate him this way. Im sure it took a lot of traininghes adorable, but he sure is rambunctious! Sources confirmed that after the rings were successfully delivered, Bezos rewarded the employee for his good behavior by slipping him a piece of beef jerky from his pocket. The post Bezos Wedding Guests Delighted By Amazon Worker With Ring Tied To Collar Crawling Down Aisle appeared first on The Onion.

Bezos Wedding Guests Given Monogrammed Plastic Bottles To Urinate In During Ceremony
VENICE, ITALYIn a welcome bag filled with favors such as local chocolates, artisanal soaps, and scented candles, guests arriving for the wedding of Amazon founder Jeff Bezos and Lauren Snchez this week were reportedly given monogrammed plastic bottles in which to urinate during the ceremony. Because guests will be strictly prohibited from leaving the room at any time during the festivities, the couple have provided these custom-made bottles as a token of their appreciation. wedding planner Lucia Contarini said as she showed off a makeshift urine receptacle emblazoned with the initials J and L, noting that it would be the only option available to attendees who did not wish to wet themselves when they inevitably needed to empty their long-held bladders. We ask that guests also save some room in the bottle for the reception, because the groom has requested the dance floor be full at all times and no one will be permitted a bathroom break. At press time, the dancing had been in progress for hours, and witnesses confirmed an exhausted Leonardo DiCaprio was completely drenched in urine and struggling to continue moving to the beat of Uptown Funk. The post Bezos Wedding Guests Given Monogrammed Plastic Bottles To Urinate In During Ceremony appeared first on The Onion.

Rep. Chris Pappas says the future of marriage equality hinges on the Senate
Out Rep. Chris Pappas of New Hampshire (D) has been in the political arena since high school, when he volunteered for Democrat Jeanne Shaheens first successful campaign for governor of the state. Now hes running to succeed her as a United States Senator. Related Rep. Eric Sorensen lost a job for being gay. It made him a better person & now hes in Congress. He told LGBTQ Nation that Republicans bring up trans issues to distract from attacks on democracy. Pappas, the presumptive favorite for the Democratic nomination in 2026, has been talked up for higher elective office since his own successful race for the New Hampshire House of Representatives right out of college. He was just 22. Insights for the LGBTQ+ community Subscribe to our briefing for insights into how politics impacts the LGBTQ+ community and more. Subscribe to our Newsletter today The political vet is a straight arrow in style and known for reaching toward the middle in a dogged search for consensus and progress on the big issues of the day. He faced blowback in December for being the only out member of the House to vote for the latest National Defense Authorization Act, legislation that ended gender-affirming care for trans youth of service members. The positives of the bill, specifically for my district, took priority, he told LGBTQ Nation.Pappas was exposed to politics early in life, as the great-grandson of a Greek immigrant whose ice cream shop evolved to become the Puritan Backroom restaurant in Manchester, for years a regular stop for candidates on the New Hampshire primary campaign trail. The Puritan, which Pappas still co-owns, also happens to be the 1970s birthplace of the classic chicken tender.Another Pappas fun fact: He was a contestant on Who Wants to Be a Millionaire in the 2010s. Ironically, Pappas was stumped on a question about which president had the lowest overall approval ratings; the same question asked spontaneously in our interview got a rise and some laughs from the Senate candidate. This time, he knew the answer (its still Harry Truman).Pappas spoke from his home in Manchester. LGBTQ Nation: As we speak, President Trump is inching closer toward joining Israels war against Iran. If a war powers resolution is introduced to limit U.S. involvement, would you endorse it?Rep. Chris Pappas: Ive supported efforts in the past to make sure that Congress is cut into the conversation with respect to our national security, and Ill continue to do everything possible to make sure that this administration is working with Congress to keep this nation safe. What we need to see is an administration thats focused on exhausting all diplomatic options.Do you think the president is swept up in the idea of bombing Iran at the expense of diplomacy? The president is not effectively communicating with the American people at a really critical moment. It feels like hes treating this more like an episode of a reality show, and the stakes are incredibly high for both our national security interests as well as American troops and citizens that are in the region. Its important to recognize that Iran is a state sponsor of terror, has been responsible for death and destruction in the region, and we are safer if Iran does not get a nuclear weapon. They shouldnt be allowed to develop one. But we need to take those steps right now to make sure, diplomatically, that we are using every tool possible to ensure thats the case. The Supreme Court ruled this week in U.S. v Skrmetti that denying gender-affirming care to trans youth is not an issue of equal protection. Do you think it is? Well, Ive always said that I believe that healthcare should be between people and their doctors, and I believe that families should be able to access the care that they need. We need to continue to take steps to make sure that everyone is free to be themselves and to get the support that they deserve. You were the only out U.S. representative to vote for the National Defense Authorization Act in December, which included a provision to deny gender-affirming care to the children of service members. Do you think they should receive that care, and what was the logic behind your vote?Well, my vote was for our national defense for the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard, which has nearly 7000 civilian workers in my district, and to make sure that were supporting critical priorities with respect to national security. So, I was clear at the time about my opposition to that provision being included, and I regret that House and Senate negotiators couldnt keep that provision out of the legislation. With respect to the National Defense Authorization Act next year, I think its an important opportunity for people to come together around important priorities that we share, but not to play culture wars as part of that legislation. You announced your campaign for the U.S. Senate in April and said youre running to take on the big fights, in your words. Whats the single biggest fight youd wage if you were in the Senate today?Well, its lowering costs. Its making this economy work for everyone. Its ensuring that life is less expensive than it is right now. We got a lot of big promises from Donald Trump in the last campaign that that was the kind of leadership he was going to provide, and hes done anything but that. We have to focus like a laser on peoples day-to-day economics to make sure that were bringing down costs, and theres a lot we can do on that front. Thats just one of the big fights.Theres also a lot of work ahead to make sure that our democracy is strong and resilient. Every day, we see an administration that is violating our norms, is blowing through guardrails in the law. We have to make sure that were able to confront that in a way that doesnt just defend democracy for democracys sake, but to make sure that its there to work for people and to make a difference in their lives. You attended Harvard. How do you characterize Donald Trumps assault on the school? Whats his end game? Well, youd have to ask him that. His attack on higher education, on basic research, on science, is taking our country in a dangerous direction. In New Hampshire, the University of New Hampshire and Dartmouth are important hubs of academic research, but they also drive New Hampshires economy. Thats the case in every state and congressional district. The efforts to target higher education and to pull funding away from the kind of research that will keep America on the cutting edge is going to send that sort of innovative work and that economic benefit to other parts of the world. That doesnt look like a strategy to put America first. This interview will be published as part of our coverage of the 10th anniversary of Obergefell v. Hodges, the Supreme Court ruling that made marriage equality the law of the land. Several states, along with the Southern Baptist Convention just two weeks ago, are calling on the court to overturn the ruling, as it did with Roe. What are the odds that happens, and what do you say to the court members on record endorsing the move, Justices Thomas and Alito? The fact that Roe has fallen means that other decisions, from Lawrence v Texas to Obergefell to Griswald, are also at risk of falling should the court continue to move in the direction of Justice Thomas and those who share his worldview.I think about the opportunity that Ive been given to be able to be myself and to be a full-fledged member of society as a gay man. I was proud to be able to marry my husband a couple years ago, and were better off as a country when people can be themselves and live openly and authentically. Any sort of effort by the court to roll back the progress that weve made strikes at the core of who we are as Americans. Were a nation that is built on fairness, on equal justice. We didnt have that at the beginning, but we have fought hard through the generations to make sure that that promise reaches each and every person in our society.Thats why electing voices to the United States Senate who will be voting on future Supreme Court nominations and judicial nominations is incredibly important to what the future of America will look like, to what the ability of our democracy is to recognize the dignity of each and every person, and to the ability of people to live freely. Thats something thats going to be on the ballot next year. How old were you when you came out?I was in college. It was a process that took a few years and started with close friends and family members. So, I was in my late teens and early 20s. As you mentioned, you married your husband, Vance Bentley, in 2023. Who proposed to whom, and how did it go down?Well, wed talked about it a lot, so I dont think it was coming out of left field, but I was the one that, you know, broached the subject again in a more formal way, and it didnt take a lot of convincing.(Laughing) I dont remember exactly what I said, but were really happy and also just feel incredibly lucky to have the support of our families, who have been there with us every step of the way. In 2020, you were attacked by your Republican opponent for Congress over your relationship with your now-husband, who is a lawyer and was a corporate lobbyist for Amazon until 2019. What did you both learn about navigating your relationship and a heated campaign at the same time, and will you do anything differently in your Senate run?Well, Im always happy to have the support that I get from my husband, and hes been there 100% of the way in terms of the step that Im taking. In politics, you could not do something like this without having supportive family behind you.I understand that this will be an incredibly competitive race for Senate, and we know that Republicans will come at this seat with everything theyve got. But when you sign up to run for office, you understand that there are going to be a lot of unfair attacks that come your way. Well be ready for the fight next fall. Youre both pretty young: Youre 45 and your husband is 35. Do you see kids in your future?Well, weve got lots of amazing nieces and nephews in our lives, and we love being uncles. But its certainly something were thinking about as we think about the future. Its something were considering. You were elected to the New Hampshire House of Representatives in 2002 straight out of college. The average age of U.S. senators is about 64 years old, and the Senate Minority Leader, Chuck Schumer, is 74. Your own senator, Jeanne Shaheen of New Hampshire (D), is 78. Is the Senate too old to accurately represent the typical American, who is 38, or does age bring wisdom that Americans can benefit from? Well, I appreciate the experience that many have around the table, but I think we need a House and a Senate that has people representing all walks of life, diverse backgrounds, and different professional experiences.Im really grateful for the work that Senator Shaheen has done for the people of New Hampshire throughout her time in public office. As the ranking member on the Foreign Relations Committee, shes literally standing up for democracy around the world, and she can continue that work while she also thinks about passing the torch to me and allowing me to continue our fight on behalf of the people of New Hampshire in the United States Senate. This is an important moment for representation in the United States Senate full representation whether that be different age demographics or the LGBTQ community. Right now, [Wisconsin Democrat] Tammy Baldwin is the only out LGBTQ member of the Senate, and so we have an opportunity to increase that in a way that can help bring to bear our lived experiences. Youve served on several committees covering issues affected by climate change. Whats the single most important thing the world should do to address the climate crisis? You can only answer one.Can only answer one. Well, I would say then, working on developing more renewable energy sources. We need to be reducing our carbon footprint, lowering emissions, and diversifying how we source our energy in a way that creates a more sustainable future. I was proud to support the Inflation Reduction Act to spur renewable energy development.Would you support national mandatory service for young people in the military or some other form of public service of their choosing, like the Peace Corps or Teach for America? I wouldnt make it mandatory, but I think we should expand opportunities and incentives for young people to serve our country.Unfortunately, weve seen some cuts moving us in the wrong direction, funding that the Trump administration is seeking to pull back from AmeriCorps and other programs that are critically important at spurring more people to serve, but also meeting the needs of our communities. How do you describe the role of the Senate in forming policy and making law compared to the House? Well, the Senate certainly functions on consensus and on relationships, and thats something that Ive always tried to do during my time in public service. The House is much more of a majoritarian entity than the Senate, where you have to count to 60 you need Republicans and Democrats working together on a lot of the big issues to ensure that legislation is going to move. Thats the kind of senator that I want to be.Subscribe to theLGBTQ Nation newsletterand be the first to know about the latest headlines shaping LGBTQ+ communities worldwide.

What is loud looking, and why do Gen Z queers keep calling it out?
Youre vibing at an event in mirrored shades, mesh, and whatever else makes you feel sexy. Someone across the street freezes, jaw open, phone half-raised. On TikTok, a trans makeup artist posts a GRWM, and the comments flood with I cant stop staring! Whether offline or on-screen, these lingering, wide-eyed reactions all carry the same energy: loud looking. The term has exploded on queer social media over the past year, giving a name to that invasive, spectacle-style stare. Think of it as the moment admiration tilts into objectification. The difference between You look amazing! and a six-second video captioned Spotted this at Walmart. According to Tinders 2024 Year in Swipe report, transparency and permission are now the hottest dating trends. 70 percent of singles want a serious connection, while nearly half explicitly state their dating goals in their bios. In other words, Gen Z is over ambiguity. The same clarity applies to how we look at one another. So what is loud looking, exactly? PRIDE talked to Adam Cohen-Aslatei, CEO of the matchmaking firm Three Day Rule, to get to the bottom of it.What is loud looking?Loud looking refers to the kind of attention queer people may receive when they are watched or stared at in ways that feel obvious, invasive, or disrespectfulas if they are on display for entertainment, says Cohen-Aslatei. It can reduce real, lived identities to spectacle, turning authenticity into something to be consumed rather than respected.Unlike a quick glance of appreciation, loud looking lingers. It often includes raised eyebrows, whispered commentary, or furtive phone cameras. The vibe is less fabulous and more human safari.Where did the term come from?Cohen-Aslatei notes that the phrase is a more academic term coined by social psychologists who study how we look at each other, especially when it comes to people who are different, niche groups, and marginalized minorities. For decades, scholars have analyzed the male gaze and female gaze. In queer circles, writers like bell hooks and Jos Esteban Muoz unpacked how marginalized people are both hypervisible and invisible at the same time. Loud looking is the TikTok-ready evolutionsuccinct, meme-able, and perfect for calling out creepers in the comments.Visibility, desire & the queer gazeQueer style has always been about visibility. Think leather at Stonewall, voguing in Harlem ballrooms, and gender-bending streetwear in 2025. But Cohen-Aslatei says loud looking flips the shame script.Loud looking shifts the focus of shamenot onto the queer person being observed, but onto the act of looking itself, he says. It frames the one doing the staring as potentially inappropriate, especially when that gaze feels judgmental, excessive, or invasive. He distinguishes this gaze from objectification. Objectification happens when a person is reduced to a body part, a stereotype, or a fantasy, he explains. Loud looking, on the other hand, is when someone watches queer peopleespecially those who are visibly expressive or non-normativein a way that feels intrusive, exaggerated, or loaded with judgment or fascination. Drag brunch tourists who gasp I cant believe what Im seeing are a textbook example.Safety, surveillance, and social mediaLoud looking isnt just awkwardit can be dangerous. Trans and femme-presenting individuals often face heightened judgment and subtle surveillance simply for being seen, Cohen-Aslatei warns. From bathroom harassment to viral videos posted without consent, the gaze can escalate into real-world harm.Online, the risk multiplies. Apps like TikTok and Instagram give queer people powerful tools to express themselves, he says. But even content meant for a supportive audience can land in front of viewers who dont understand or respond respectfully. The 2024 Green Flags Study from Tinder underscores this assumptions epidemic. Daters consistently misread each others intentions, projecting stereotypes before a single DM is exchanged. Swap romantic intentions for gender expression, and you get the same noisy misunderstanding, only now in the form of stares, stitches, and side-eye.Why Gen Z owns the clap-backCohen-Aslatei sees a generational split. What one generation sees as empowerment, another may perceive as risk, he says. Older queer folks who survived the AIDS crisis often mastered the art of flying under the radar. Gen Z, raised amid rainbow-emoji marketing and endless selfie culture, leans the other way: be seen, and call out anyone who makes that visibility unsafe. On TikTok, the tag #loudlooking sits alongside #thisismaface for trans joy and #bigenderfashionhauls. Posts pair quick-cut reaction memes with sassy captions that imply the gawking is not only noticed but named. How to look without becoming loudCohen-Aslatei reminds us that looking is a natural human behavior, but it crosses the line when curiosity morphs into surveillance, spectacle, or subtle domination. Heres a cheat sheet:Read the room. Is your glance longer than a second or two? Dial it back.Compliment, dont comment. A sincere Love your boots! beats a whispered Wow, thats a guy? every time.Ask before you film. If you wouldnt covertly record a brides wedding dress, dont record a strangers Pride outfit either.Mirror energy. If someone looks comfy and open, a smile may be welcome. If they seem tense or avoidant, respect that boundary.Reflect inward. Are you staring because youre inspiredor because youre shocked? One builds community; the other turns people into props. The bigger pictureLoud looking captures the double-edged sword of queer visibility in 2025: freedom to express, paired with a fresh wave of public scrutiny. As Cohen-Aslatei puts it, Modern loud lookers dont just starethey film, post, and comment in real time.Yet naming the behavior is power in itself. If queer style is a language, loud looking is the grammar rule that says, Observe, dont objectify. When in doubt, offer a nod of solidarity instead of a running commentary. We all deserve the freedom to strut down the streetor the timelinewithout being treated like the days entertainment. So the next time a sequined stranger turns heads, remember: Theres a difference between looking and looking loudly. Choose the quiet appreciation, and let them slay in peace.

Trump posts mean, juvenile music video that glorifies bombing Iran
Donald Trump has shared a horrifically insensitive video about bombing Iran that glorifies violence and anti-Muslim acts. Despite bragging about a ceasefire between Israel and Iran, the president posted a juvenile Bomb Iran music video set to the tune of Barbara Ann by the Beach Boys. Related Trump makes homophobic dig at Anderson Cooper a day after he fled to a bomb shelter live on air The president managed to insult both gay people and women while berating the media for questioning his claims about his success in Iran. The song originally surfaced in 1980 in response to the Iranian hostage crisis. While several versions exist, the most popular is by Vince Vance & the Valiants, which is the one Trump posted. Its clear by posting it that Donald Trump not only supports its content, but also that he has a dangerously callous attitude toward entangling the United States in a foreign war.Lyrics in the song include, Went to a mosque. Gonna throw some rocks and time to turn Iran into a parking lot, communicating a lack of concern for civilian deaths. Trump posted a Bomb Iran music video with these lyrics:Went to a mosque.

The number of out LGBTQ+ elected officials has tripled since 2017
The number of out LGBTQ+ elected representatives in the U.S. rose in the last year, continuing a steady upward trend that has lasted through the Trump era, according to a new report. On Tuesday, the LGBTQ+ Victory Institute released its annual Out for America report, which tracks the number of out LGBTQ+ elected representatives nationwide and at all levels of government. This years report showed an overall 2.4% increase in out LGBTQ+ representation between June 2024 and May 2025 and a 198% increase since the organization, which provides training and support for out candidates, first launched the report in 2017 (during President Donald Trumps first term in office). Related Rep. Sarah McBride on GOP attacks: Theyre employing the strategies of reality TV. Americas first trans congressperson opens up. This years Out for America report shows the resilience of our LGBTQ+ elected leaders, LGBTQ+ Victory Institute President and CEO Evan Low said in a statement. Despite hateful rhetoric plaguing the 2024 election cycle, LGBTQ+ elected officials won at the ballot box and made history. Subscribe to our Newsletter today While the majority of LGBTQ+ elected officials serve in state and local office, 2025 saw a 33% increase in the number of out U.S. House representatives, bringing the total number to 12. Meanwhile, Sen. Tammy Baldwin (D-WI) was left the only out U.S. senator after two other out lawmakers left office last year.According to the 2025 report, the number of out LGBTQ+ elected officials of color rose by nearly 7% since last year. The number of out Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) elected officials grew the most (32.6%), while the number of multiracial officials increased by 28.6%, and the number of Black representatives grew by just over 4%. LGBTQ+ Latinx representatives remain the largest non-white group of out elected officials, holding steady at 193, the same as last years total. While nearly two-thirds of all LGBTQ+ elected officials identify as gay (46.3%) or lesbian (19.5%), the report also saw a notable increase in the number of pansexual and queer elected officials. Of the 1,334 known out LGBTQ+ elected officials as of May 5, the number who reported their sexual orientation as pansexual and queer grew by 17 and 19% respectively compared to last years tally. The number of gay men in office remained the same, while the number of lesbians saw a 7% decrease. Cisgender people continue to account for the vast majority of LGBTQ+ elected officials at 85.9%, compared to 6.5% who identify as either transgender or non-binary. This years report indicated that the number of trans men serving in elected office increased by one, while the number of trans women remained the same. In its press release, the LGBTQ+ Victory Institute pointed to Rep. Sarah McBride (D-DE) becoming the first openly transgender member of Congress earlier this year. The institute also pointed to the elections of several other trans people to state and local offices as an indication that American voters are willing to support trans candidates, despite a political climate that has become increasingly hostile to trans people. We broke the lavender ceiling with Sarah McBride making history, but we need many more people like her to answer the call, added Low. Thats why we are intentionally working to find and train more transgender, gender nonconforming and nonbinary leaders to seek elected office at all levels. As the report notes, despite the steady upward trend since 2017, LGBTQ+ people continue to be significantly underrepresented in elected office at all levels of government. Out LGBTQ+ people make up just 0.26% of the countrys elected officials, and the LGBTQ+ Victory Institute estimates that 46,996 more out LGBTQ+ people would have to be elected to achieve equitable representation.Low described the countrys LGBTQ+ public servants as the antidote to combat the anti-equality virus in our halls of power, while LGBTQ+ Victory Institute Executive Director Elliot Imse called them the backbone of the equality movement.Whether combating bills that aim to strip our rights, or being important voices for our communities, Imse said, their presence within the halls of power is vital.Subscribe to theLGBTQ Nation newsletterand be the first to know about the latest headlines shaping LGBTQ+ communities worldwide.

Texas students sue over unsafe & unjust Dont Say Gay law that bans GSAs
Texas Gov. Greg Abbott (R) on Friday signed the countrys latest Dont Say Gay legislation into law, which would bar discussion of LGBTQ+ identity in classrooms, ban LGBTQ+ student clubs, and prohibit school staff from acknowledging student identities that diverge from the binary, among other restrictive anti-LGBTQ+ measures. In addition to attacking LGBTQ+ identity, the sweeping package of laws that supporters call a Bill of Parental Rightsaddresses a right-wing wish to ban diversity, inclusion, and equity discussion in classrooms, promote vaccine skepticism, and provide opt-out options on everything from health education and data collection to library access and bilingual education. Related Texas Republicans pass bill to ban LGBTQ+ student clubs in schools Its one of five anti-LGBTQ+ bills Texas could pass this year. The bill also prohibits discussion of race in any lesson, policy, procedure, or program, except subjects mandated by the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills test. Subscribe to our Newsletter today On Monday, the ACLU and a state student organization announced theyre taking Texas to court over the new law, known as Senate Bill 12.S.B.12 aims to punish kids for being who they are and ban teachers from supporting them. It sends the false message that Black, Brown,LGBTQIA+, and other students dont belong in the classroom or in our state, Brian Klosterboer, senior staff attorney at the ACLU ofTexas, said in a statement shared with the Houston Chronicle. Were taking legal action to challenge this discriminatory law and reaffirm that all students should have access to a safe, inclusive education that prepares them for their futures in our diverse state, no exceptions. Under the new law, GSAs, or Gender and Sexuality Alliance clubs, across the state will be shut down due to a provision that school districts are now prohibited from authorizing student clubs based on sexual orientation or gender identity. The law also expands on some Texas school districts forced outing policies aimed at trans and nonbinary students, explicitly prohibiting school staff support for questioning students. School districts without restrictive outing policies will now have to adopt one.Cameron Samuels, executive director of Students Engaged in Advancing Texas, said the law would erase students identities.State leaders have been in the business of manufacturing problems that dont exist such as stoking fear against Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion to ignore the solutions that students need and deserve, Samuels said in the ACLU release. Barring student organizations and teachers from supporting LGBTQIA+ young people, particularly trans and nonbinary students, is inflicting even more harm and making our schools unsafe and unjust.Subscribe to theLGBTQ Nation newsletterand be the first to know about the latest headlines shaping LGBTQ+ communities worldwide.

Dragula star Dollya Black comes out as trans and embraces trans joy
When someone opens up about their true identity, its a reason to celebrate, especially when it happens during Pride Month. The Boutlet Brothers Dragula star Dollya Black came out as trans at the beginning of June and is excited to share some trans joy with the world. The season 3 finalist came out in an Instagram post with a detailed message to her fans alongside a carousel of selfies and photos with her husband. Dollya wrote that shes been on a journey or discovery that led her to start hormones six months ago, and to change her pronouns to she/they.She said she waited so long to make the announcement because she was nervous about the publics reaction. I went back and forth about sharing this because I get so nervous about being perceived. Ive tried so hard to cultivate a positive experience around my gender and havent opened up much about it publicly due to my reservations on a negative reaction, she wrote.See on InstagramBut Dollya tells PRIDE that she wanted to come out publicly as a way to share some trans joy and help other trans people feel seen and understood. Being trans has been such a positive thing for me. I feel so blessed that my experience has been an uplifting one and has been filled with so much support and validation, she explains. I wanted to just show a trans person happy and feeling beautiful and supported. Something simple that could maybe give someone a thread of hope.Since making her identity public three weeks ago, Dollya says she has continued to feel love and support from her drag peers and doesnt give much credence to anyone who tries to tear her down. Anyone hypothetically trying to tell me how to be trans, or not be trans, were both pointless to me and just stressed me out. I protect my peace and try to live as authentically as possible, she says. While some might feel a sense of relief after coming out, for her, coming out has felt more like a door opening.Growing up religious really closed off a lot of the things that I began to question as a kid. I quickly learned what was appropriate and acceptable as a child, and it really put up a lot of barriers within me from being able to explore my identity fully, she admits. Im so blessed coming into 30 and surrounded by an amazing group of friends, community, and peers who have allowed me to exist as myself and feel safe to explore who I am. Im so grateful. So, so, so grateful.Dollya, who fans got to know as one of the finalists on the third season of The Boulet Brothers' Dragula, closed her Instagram post by reintroducing herself to her followers, So if youve known me for a while, or [are] just seeing me for the first time, Hi! Im Dakota.
