Projecting the Ohio State basketball lineup for the 2026-27 season
The rosters of college basketball are awfully hard to keep track of these days. With the transfer portal and Name, Image and Likeness opportunities, rosters look completely different from one season to the next, and we've definitely seen that be the case at Ohio State as well.Head coach Jake Diebler did a pretty hard reset last offseason and has done similar things this offseason, some of it out of necessity. The Buckeyes lost one of the program's all-time greats with four-time captain and program-leading scorer Bruce Thornton moving on to the NBA draft, and there were others who went into the transfer portal, while others came to Columbus out of the portal. The roster should be more or less set now, so it feels like a good time to project and predict what the Ohio State depth chart might look like next season, including the starters and depth pieces on the bench. Here's a look at the projected depth chart for the Ohio State basketball team for the 2026-27 season.Ohio State basketball projected starters, depth chart for 2026-27Point GuardStarter: Justin PippenBackups: John Mobley Jr., Curtis GivensReplacing Bruce Thornton won't be easy, and we'll surely see Mobley get some time running the point as we saw at times last year. However, the sharp-shooting Mobley is much better off the ball, spotting up and coming off of plays designed to get his shot, so look for Scottie Pippen's son, Justin, who transferred from Cal, to get a crack at running things. If Memphis transfer Curtis Givens can show the ability to play in the Big Ten, he, too, could factor in.Shooting GuardStarter: John Mobley Jr.Backups: Jimmie Williams, Curtis Givens, Anthony ThompsonGetting Mobley back was a big win for Ohio State, and he will almost assuredly lock down the guard spot off the ball. It would be no surprise at all if he leads the team in scoring by running off screens, spotting up from deep, and also continuing to develop his skills in the paint. Jimmie Williams is an intriguing and experienced option that could get some significant playing time, along with wherever the coaching staff believes Givens fits into the guard lineup. Also, the coaching staff could experiment with moving Thompson here if Mobley runs the point for a bigger lineup.Small ForwardStarter: Anthony ThompsonBackups: Jimmie Williams, Amare BynumFive-star recruit Anthony Thompson will no doubt get the nod in starting and should be an immediate scoring option. He's the highest-rated recruit since Jared Sullinger, and there are huge expectations for what he can do for Ohio State. Jimmie Williams could also slot here, and in some cases, if the coaching staff wants to play big, they can rotate the taller and more physical Bynum here.Power ForwardStarter: Amare BynumBackups: Andrija Jelavic, Anthony Thompson, Alex Smith, Ivan Njegovan, Josh Ojianwuna, There's little doubt that the ultra-athletic and physically imposing Amare Bynum will fill this spot. He was a revelation last season and had a breakout second half of the year. He should take an even further step forward and provide more scoring and rebounding. Behind him, Kentucky transfer Andrija Jelavic and freshman Alex Smith could get some time. In addition, for a smaller and quicker lineup, the coaches may opt to move Thompson into this spot to create mismatches at times. Also, don't rule out getting two bigs in the lineup and moving either former Baylor transfer Josh Ojianwuna or Ivan Njegovan here.CenterStarter: Josh OjianwunaBackups: Andrija Jelavic, Ivan Njegovan, Vuk Lazarevic, Amare BynumThere are really only a few players who can man the blocks for Ohio State, and if Ojianwuna is indeed healthy, he could be a problem for the rest of the league because of his ability to score at the rim and be an imposing rebounding option. It's hard to imagine him getting massive minutes coming off injury, so Jalavic and Njegovan should also get some time. If the coaching staff wants to go small, quick, and athletic, it would be an interesting option to put Bynum and his athleticism on the blocks. It's unclear how freshman Vuk Lazarevic, who was added late, will factor in, but at 7-foot, 1-inch, he would be a development piece that could eventually factor in, especially if he can protect the rim.Bench PiecesMyles Herro and Braylen Nash - Neither is likely to get much playing time, but with things out of hand, or in a break-the-glass type of emergency, we could see the two get some time on the floor.Contact/Follow us @BuckeyesWire on X (formerly Twitter) and like our page on Facebook to follow ongoing coverage of Ohio State news, notes, and opinion. Texas A&M offers elite 2027 5-star SG out of Raleigh (NC)
Texas A&M coach Bucky McMillan is entering his second season at the helm after leading the Aggies to the NCAA Tournament in Year 1, led by transfer forward Rashaun Agee, who led the team in scoring and rebounds, while the rest of the transfer-led roster provided enough depth, especially at the end of the season, to push the Aggies towards the postseason. After defeating St. Mary's in the first round, Texas A&M's blowout loss to Houston in the Round of 32 wasn't surprising, and placed an official bow on McMillan's first roster, which will look very different next season after adding six players from the transfer portal, including star shooting guard PJ Haggerty. On the recruiting trail, McMillan has already landed his first commitment in the 2027 cycle, as four-star guard Chase Richardson already looks like a star in the making and is widely considered a perfect fit in McMillan's fast-paced scheme. Last week, it was revealed that Texas A&M has offered 2027 five-star shooting guard Jordan Page, who is 247Sports' 10th-ranked prospect.Landing five-star prospects has not been the norm for Texas A&M basketball, but under Bucky McMillan, the norms will be shattered one by one, likely starting with the 2027 cycle. However, Page is being heavily pursued by North Carolina and new head coach, Michael Malone, which will be hard to contend with due to the program's blue-blood status and closeness to Raleigh (NC).During his 2025 junior season, Page averaged 19.8 points per game and 9.9 rebounds. McMillan will continue to take his shots in recruiting, hoping to land the proverbial "big fish" in the 2027 class to pair with Chase Richardson. /// 6’6 2027 SG Jordan Page of GRBC 2027 3SSB has just received an offer from @aggiembk ‼️@D_West30@GravesGrbc@buck_coach@3SSBCircuit@VerbalCommits— Garner Road Basketball Club HS - National/3SSB (@GroadBballHS) May 20, 2026Contact/Follow us @AggiesWire on X and like our page on Facebook to follow ongoing coverage of Texas A&M news, notes and opinions. Thunder vs. Spurs schedule: Dates, times, TV channels, scores for NBA Western Conference Finals series
Thunder vs. Spurs schedule: Dates, times, TV channels, scores for NBA Western Conference Finals series originally appeared on The Sporting News. Add The Sporting News as a Preferred Source by clicking here. With the first two rounds of the NBA Playoffs concluded, it's time to look at the Conference Finals, where the Oklahoma City Thunder and San Antonio Spurs will face off in the West. While the Thunder have been perfect so far in these playoffs, the team will be gaining even more help. Forward Jalen Williams went down in Game 2 of the first round with a Grade 1 left hamstring strain. The 2022 No. 12 overall pick is back for the series against the Spurs.San Antonio has lost some games this postseason, unlike its Western Conference Finals counterpart, but the team has looked dominant for the most part. Superstar Victor Wembanyama has proven time and time again that he is already one of the, if not THE, best defensive player in the league in terms of blocks. During the playoffs, the 22-year-old Frenchman has averaged a whopping 4.1 blocks per game, a number that is more than double the player in second place (Jarrett Allen, 1.9).While Oklahoma City has been the season-long favorite to win this year's championship, San Antonio will be its first real test of the entire playoffs. In fact, the Spurs have beaten the Thunder in four out of the teams' five meetings this season. San Antonio's average margin of victory in those games was 11.75 points, so it does have a viable shot of preventing Oklahoma City from becoming the first team to win back-to-back championships since the Golden State Warriors in 2017 and 2018.Here's what you need to know to watch Thunder vs. Spurs, including broadcast information and start times.Thunder vs. Spurs scheduleSeries tied 2-2DateGameTime (ET)WatchMay 18Game 1: Spurs 122, Thunder 115 (2 OT)——May 20Game 2: Thunder 122, Spurs 113——May 22Game 3: Thunder 123, Spurs 108——May 24Game 4: Spurs 103, Thunder 82——May 26Game 5 at Oklahoma City8:30 p.m.NBC, Peacock, DIRECTVMay 28Game 6 at San Antonio8:30 p.m.NBC, Peacock, DIRECTVMay 30Game 7 at Oklahoma City*8 p.m.NBC, Peacock, DIRECTV* If necessaryWhere to watch Thunder vs. Spurs: TV channel, live streamTV channels: NBCLive streams: DIRECTV, PeacockThe Thunder vs. Spurs series will be broadcast by NBC. French Open 2026: Paris Olympics gold medalist Qinwen Zheng’s loss underscores how unforgiving clay is
2024 Paris Olympic gold medalist and Chinese tennis superstar Qinwen Zheng lost her first round match at the 2026 French Open.Zheng’s mastery of the clay was on display at the Olympics and continued in 2025 when she finished as a French Open quarterfinalist. For the past year, she has been mainly sidelined with injuries. She lost 4-6, 0-6 to Polish qualifier Maja Chwalinksa. ranked 113th, who has never qualified for Roland Garros before and consequently earned her first main draw win over an accomplished clay court player.MORE: French Open 2026: Taylor Fritz’s disappointing loss is a blessing in disguiseLack of clay prep led to Zheng’s resultWith the possible exception of the Big 3, evidenced once again by Novak Djokovic’s win on Sunday, not playing any or enough clay court tennis leading up to the French Open is a recipe for failure. Taylor Fritz suffered the same fate as Zheng on Sunday. No matter how good a player is on clay throughout his or her career, without the reps before the French Open, things usually do not turn out well. Confidence with serving, footing, sliding, shotmaking, and dealing with awkward bounces is necessary.Jun 1, 2025; Paris, FR; Qinwen Zheng of China reacts to a point during her match against Liudmila Samsonova on day eight at Roland Garros Stadium. Mandatory Credit: Susan Mullane-Imagn ImagesMORE: French Open 2026: 4 WTA Grand Slam champions ousted on Day 1This same concern has me holding my breath for Amanda Anisimova in her first round match later on Monday. It also makes me understand further why players with injuries, such as Carlos Alcaraz, Lorenzo Musetti, Arthur Fils, Holger Rune, and Jack Draper, skip the clay or the French Open because they don’t have enough time to be healthy and ready. Their absences are felt and missed but more understood in the early stages of this year’s French Open.

Doc Redman wins Visit Knoxville Open Korn Ferry Tour with eagle on playoff
Doc Redman won the Visit Knoxville Open with an eagle on the first playoff hole for his second Korn Ferry Tour victory.Redman and Hunter Eichhorn were tied after four rounds at Holston Hills Country Club after both shot 25-under-par 259 on May 24.Redman, 28, previously won the Astara Chile Classic, making him and Ian Holt as the only two-time winners on the Korn Ferry Tour this season. It's been an interesting journey for Redman, who was standout at Clemson from 2016-18 and broke the school record for career scoring average (70.70). He played four full seasons on the PGA Tour (2020-23) with consecutive FedExCup Playoff appearances in 2020 and 2021.Now in his third consecutive season on the Korn Ferry Tour he finished No. 37 on the points list in 2024 and dropped to No. 138 in 2025 partly because he took most of March through May off, later saying he was “pretty unhappy traveling and playing golf, and a little lost in that sense."Eichhorn made a charge to get in the playoff after trailing third-round leader Cooper Dossey by six shots. He shot a career-low 10-under 61 to tie Redman who shot 65 in the fourth round. Dossey shot a 69 and finished two shots back and tied for third with Bryce Lewis (66) and John Marshall Butler (63). Lewis, who is from Hendersonville, Tennessee, and played five seasons at Tennessee from 2019-24, had his first top-five finish on the Korn Ferry Tour in his 33rd career start.Phil Kaplan is sports director of the USA TODAY South Region. This article originally appeared on Knoxville News Sentinel: Doc Redman wins Visit Knoxville Open golf Korn Ferry Tour in playoff

Lewis Hall: Why Wilcox wants United to make serious move for Newcastle left-back
Lewis Hall: Why Wilcox wants United to make serious move for Newcastle left-backManchester United’s director of football, Jason Wilcox, wants to raid Newcastle United in the upcoming summer transfer window.Newcastle endured a disastrous Premier League campaign under Eddie Howe, finishing 12th in the table and failing to secure European football.Last summer, Alexander Isak forced his way out of Newcastle. Now, the Magpies risk losing more key players.Manchester United determined to sign Lewis HallAccording to CaughtOffside, Newcastle United boyhood fan Lewis Hall could become “one of the most interesting names of the summer window” with Manchester United making the left-back a priority target.United’s interest in the technically gifted Englishman, who is allegedly valued at £55 million, is believed to be “genuine”. It is claimed Jason Wilcox is “a big admirer of Hall and is pushing the club to look seriously at a deal.”Wilcox likes the 21-year-old because he is “left-footed, Premier League-proven and technically very comfortable.” The former Chelsea gem often likes to drift into midfield, underlining how at ease he is in tight spaces.More importantly, Luke Shaw, who surprisingly started all of United’s 38 league games this season, needs genuine competition following the departure of Tyrell Malacia.Recently, The Peoples Person relayed a report claiming Hall is considering his future at Newcastle after being left devastated by Thomas Tuchel’s decision to not include him in England’s World Cup squad.Sandro Tonali is also a Manchester United targetFurthermore, United are also thought to be chasing Newcastle midfielder Sandro Tonali, who has reportedly been pushing to leave the club since January.A separate report claimed that Michael Carrick has specifically asked the United hierarchy to sign the Italian box-to-box midfielder.Tonali is also admired at Manchester City, but his preference is to move to Old Trafford ahead of next season.Featured image Stu Forster via Getty Imagesonline pollsThe Peoples Person has been one of the world’s leading Man United news sites for over a decade. West Ham were too bad to stay up thanks to a catalogue of their own errors
In the hysterical overreaction to the most high-profile VAR intervention in Premier League history, amid a rush to blame the system, a question was posed by too many: what if it was the decision to sentence West Ham to relegation. It wasn’t, and not merely because Callum Wilson’s apparent equaliser against Arsenal was rightly chalked off for at least one foul on David Raya, or because it would have only earned a point, and they finished two behind Tottenham. But there were decisions that condemned West Ham to the drop. Their own. Far too many of them. Next month brings the third anniversary of the Conference League victory. It could have been the platform for greater success; three years of abject choices instead followed. The unlovely, unloved London Stadium played host to Leverkusen two years ago. Lincoln will visit next season.Their Conference League-winning manager could not save them, David Moyes’ Everton losing at Tottenham on Sunday to render West Ham’s win over Leeds irrelevant. Moyes’ departure in 2024 came amid a sense his reign in east London had run its course, even though the Scot finished ninth; but Moyes stands alone. There have been three managerial appointments since him, all unsuccessful. West Ham’s strange addiction to appointing uncharismatic figures who were incapable of galvanising the fanbase brought Manuel Pellegrini in between Moyes’ stints, Julen Lopetegui, Graham Potter and Nuno Espirito Santo after him.Nuno Espirito Santo could not save West Ham from the drop (Reuters)Moyes could be faulted for the way some of the windfall received for Declan Rice was squandered: his midfield replacements, Edson Alvarez and James Ward-Prowse, arrived for a combined £65m and are now both out on loan. Yet others are more culpable for wretched recruitment, the former director of football Tim Steidten in particular.Niclas Fullkrug, a cult hero of German football, a regular scorer in the Bundesliga, only mustered three goals for West Ham and – spot the theme – was loaned out. Max Kilman, a £40m centre-back, was of such little appeal to Nuno he would change system to avoid picking a defender he managed at Wolves. The Brazilian winger Luis Guilherme came and went, scoring no goals, creating none. Another winger, Adama Traore, was bought and given one Premier League start. The goalkeeper Mads Hermansen, a Potter target, was dropped early in the season and ended it with one of the lowest save percentages in the Premier League. There was the odd success – Mateus Fernandes, Wilson, the loanee Axel Disasi, arguably Taty Castellanos – but too few. West Ham could have afforded some missteps in the transfer market, but not so many. Not without a strategy: they could look at the top 10 and see clubs with more coherent thinking, more modern practices, more success in the market: Brighton, Brentford, Bournemouth, Sunderland. West Ham became an anachronism. On the pitch, West Ham gave themselves a false start to the season. They should have sacked Potter last summer after early evidence he and they were a rather imperfect fit. They instead began the campaign losing 3-0 at Sunderland, in a hapless display, and 5-1 to Chelsea. Their fourth game was a 3-0 defeat to Spurs. At one stage, it looked like they might go down on goal difference; it was already awful after four games.Defensively, West Ham have been too poor and too porous for too long. They have conceded 201 goals in their last three league campaigns. Their goalkeeping issues were a reason, but not the only one. Nuno had seemed an answer, and not just as a former goalkeeper. He arrived at the end of September having overseen three seasons where clubs outside the supposed big six had one of the six best defensive records.Yet, for much of his time, he did not appear the Nuno of old. This could have been his misguided rebound relationship, jumping into West Ham’s arms after his sacking by Nottingham Forest. The Hammers did not keep a clean sheet in their first 19 games under the Portuguese. At his best, Nuno brings a clarity of thought; at West Ham he often felt confused.Nuno seemed to be the answer to West Ham’s problems but for much of his time did not look like the manager the Premier League was used to seeing (Reuters)There was, infamously, the experiment with inverted full-backs at Brentford, the left-footed Ollie Scarles on the right, the right-footed Kyle Walker-Peters on the right. There was, in the penultimate game, the mistake of playing five at the back at Newcastle, which Nuno had to correct with a 26th-minute substitution and change of shape. There was the experiment with Lucas Paqueta as a false nine; that the Brazilian, the most technically gifted player at the club, left a sinking ship in mid-season was scarcely to his credit.West Ham ultimately paid for a terrible Christmas, with one point from six games either side of it, a 3-0 defeat to a previously winless Wolves perhaps the worst of some terrible results. Briefly, it seemed Nuno then found a formula with a 4-4-2 formation. West Ham won six of 13 games; only four teams took more points after the middle of January, but they were playing catch-up after being seven from safety. And while Disasi and Castellanos were difference-makers, the Argentinian’s strike partner, Pablo, was a £22m signing who scored no goals. If, at one stage, the two forwards threatened to be the new Paul Kitson and John Hartson, a duo to keep them up, instead 2026 had similarities with 2003, when West Ham went down with a high points tally for a relegated team.Taty Castellanos has been a rare recruiting success but his impact wasn't enough to save West Ham (Getty)But the club at least got one thing right. In a statement after their fate was confirmed, they said: “The plain truth is that we have not been good enough.” With the ownership of David Sullivan, the management of Lopetegui, Potter and Nuno, the buying both of Steidten and after him, and a host of players, that rings true. When the West Ham of 2002-03, of Jermain Defoe and Paolo Di Canio, Joe Cole and Michael Carrick, were demoted, the cliché was that they were too good to go down. The side of 2025-26, however, were too bad to stay up.

ESPN analyst suggests one move the Dolphins should've made this year
The Miami Dolphins made massive changes to their roster this offseason, including trading two of their best players, Jaylen Waddle and Minkah Fitzpatrick, away for draft picks and to get money off their books. However, ESPN's Bill Barnwell believes that the Dolphins could've gone further, as he recently suggested that Miami should've been more willing to ship out running back De'Von Achane."The Dolphins aren't likely to field much of a passing attack anytime soon, and [Malik] Willis probably will shoulder some of the rushing workload, which will combine to limit Achane's ability to impact games," Barnwell wrote. "He's a very good running back, and it's reasonable for Sullivan to see Achane as a core component for the Dolphins moving forward, but I don't know if these Dolphins will be able to get the most out of him. Achane could have thrived elsewhere. If the Dolphins could have landed a second-round pick for him, I would have preferred to see them move on and try to land the next Achane in the middle rounds of the draft over the years to come."It's unclear if a second-round pick was on the table for Achane in a trade this offseason, but Miami decided to give the running back a four-year, $68 million extension with $32 million guaranteed.Barnwell credits the Dolphins for getting the deal done before Bijan Robinson and Jahmyr Gibbs sign their extensions in the near future. Had Miami waited, they probably would've had to give Achane more than they did. Sean Payton on Broncos RB Jonah Coleman: 'He’s looked really good'
So far, so good for Denver Broncos rookie running back Jonah Coleman. Coleman made his debut at Broncos Park Powered by CommonSpirit during rookie minicamp earlier this month, and he'll return for the start of organized team activities (OTAs) next week. “Good," Denver coach Sean Payton said when asked for his early impression of Coleman at rookie minicamp. "Here is the one challenge with this camp. It’s the only camp that we have in a year where there’s not a Peloton, conditioning-wise. There are guys that are in great shape, there are guys in the middle of the pack and there are guys that are in awful shape. "Normally, when you go into any camp, you have a group that’s been conditioning, like when we get into OTAs or minicamp in June, there’s a ‘B,’ ‘A’ level of conditioning. There’s a Peloton group. In this camp, it’s always difficult. So a guy like Jonah, his schedule probably was a lot different than some of these other guys. He’s in good shape. There are certain things you want to, when you’re in this type of drill setting, you want to give him. Then he’s picked it up well. He’s looked really good.”Broncos players don't wear pads at this point in the offseason, so there are limited takeaways from the practices. Coleman apparently arrived in great shape, though, which is a good early sign. Things will start to pick up with OTAs and mandatory minicamp on deck in June, and fans will get their first look in-person at Coleman during training camp, which typically begins in late July. We'll have a better idea of which rookies are standing out once the pads come on later this summer, but Coleman has made a good first impression. Is there a reserve day for IPL 2026 playoff matches? What happens if Qualifier and Eliminator are abandoned due to rain?
Is there a reserve day for IPL 2026 playoff matches? What happens if Qualifier and Eliminator are abandoned due to rain? originally appeared on Cricket News. Add Cricket News as a Preferred Source by clicking here.KEY TAKEAWAYS:Only the IPL 2026 Final has a reserve day, while Qualifier 1, Eliminator, and Qualifier 2 do not.Officials get an extra 120 minutes to try and complete a 5-over match or even a Super Over if needed. If a match is washed out without any play, the higher-ranked team on the points table goes through. What happens if rain disrupts the IPL playoffs?Rain doesn’t lead to an immediate call-off in IPL knockout matches, as officials are given extra time to try and produce a result on the field. For Qualifier 1, the Eliminator, and Qualifier 2, an additional 120 minutes is built into the schedule. The idea is to complete as much of a full game as possible, but if delays continue, overs are gradually reduced, with a minimum of five overs per side required. For a 5-over match to take place, play must begin by the revised cut-off time, usually around 11:55 PM IST for a 7:30 PM start. If conditions still don’t allow that but improve later, officials can opt for a standalone Super Over, as long as the ground is ready in time for a final cut-off, typically around 12:50 AM IST.MORE:IPL 2026 playoffs: The four best teams are through, but SRH might just be peaking at the perfect timeWhat happens if a playoff match is washed out?If the weather doesn’t allow even a five-over match or a Super Over, the game is officially abandoned. With no reserve day for the preliminary playoffs, the result is then decided based on league-stage standings. As per the playing conditions, if a playoff match (excluding the Final) cannot be completed, the team that finished higher on the points table is declared the winner. This makes league-stage rankings extremely important. Yamal headlines Spain World Cup squad, Merino recalled
Spain's head coach Luis de la Fuente announced his list of players for the 2026 World Cup on Monday (Pierre-Philippe MARCOU)Lamine Yamal is the star name in Spain's squad for the 2026 World Cup named by coach Luis de la Fuente on Monday, which also included Arsenal midfielder Mikel Merino after his recent return from injury. For the first time at a World Cup, the Spain squad will not feature a Real Madrid player with Dean Huijsen dropped and veteran Dani Carvajal also excluded after struggling through an injury-hit campaign.Merino, a favourite of coach De la Fuente, appeared as a substitute for the Gunners against Crystal Palace on Sunday in their final Premier League match, for his first appearance since January after a foot fracture.De La Fuente also called up defenders Eric Garcia and Marc Pubill after impressive seasons with Barcelona and Atletico Madrid respectively, deciding to leave out Huijsen and Atletico's Robin Le Normand.Along with 18-year-old Barca star Yamal, Athletic Bilbao's Nico Williams played a key role as Spain won Euro 2024 and he is in the squad despite a season badly disrupted by fitness issues.Yamal is a doubt for the first matches of the tournament after suffering a hamstring injury with Barca which has kept him out since late April. The winger is one of eight Barca players in the squad, along with midfielders Gavi, Pedri and goalkeeper Joan Garcia."We're coordinating with the medical departments of all the clubs," De la Fuente told reporters."The reports that we have say all the players will be ready for the first game or the second."Gavi returned from a long absence in March after a severe knee injury and has impressed with Barcelona in the final weeks of the season.Yamal posted a video on social media of Gavi's emotional reaction to the squad announcement, celebrating wildly during a gym session with Barca."That shows the human quality this group of players have... one of our strengths, and that's just as important as what they do on the pitch," said De la Fuente."I'm glad he got emotional, because we know how much this means to him."Asked about not calling up any Real Madrid players for the tournament, De la Fuente said that had no impact on his decision making."Luckily I'm the national team coach and I don't look at where the players come from," explained the coach."They're national team players... I don't look at one club or another. I don't have that local bias a fan might have, for me it's more global..."The only thing I want is for these footballers to feel proud of representing the national team."Spain open their World Cup campaign on June 15 against Cape Verde in Group H, before facing Saudi Arabia and Uruguay.Squad:Goalkeepers: Unai Simon (Athletic Bilbao), David Raya (Arsenal/ENG), Joan Garcia (Barcelona)Defenders: Marcos Llorente, Marc Pubill (Atletico Madrid), Pedro Porro (Tottenham/ENG), Aymeric Laporte (Athletic Bilbao), Eric Garcia, Pau Cubarsi (Barcelona), Marc Cucurella (Chelsea/ENG), Alejandro Grimaldo (Bayer Leverkusen/GER)Midfielders: Rodri (Manchester City/ENG), Martin Zubimendi, Mikel Merino (Arsenal/ENG), Pedri, Gavi (Barcelona), Fabian Ruiz (Paris Saint-Germain/FRA), Alex Baena (Atletico Madrid)Forwards: Yeremy Pino (Crystal Palace/ENG), Victor Munoz (Osasuna), Mikel Oyarzabal (Real Sociedad), Ferran Torres, Lamine Yamal, Dani Olmo (Barcelona), Nico Williams (Athletic Bilbao), Borja Iglesias (Celta Vigo)rbs/pi

Former Bills front office product get extension in NFL front office
With success comes poaching in the NFL and that previously happened to the Buffalo Bills and their front office. Because of that taking place, the Bills just received a sign that they produce some promising football minds. Formerly the assistant general manager in Buffalo, the New York Giantshired Joe Schoen as GM in 2022. Over the weekend, he earned a contract extension in New York: The #Giants have signed GM Joe Schoen to a multi-year contract extension, securing his future alongside new HC John Harbaugh, sources tell me and @RapSheet. pic.twitter.com/Fx4ZlwpiPJ— Mike Garafolo (@MikeGarafolo) May 21, 2026Interestingly, Schoen outlived Brian Daboll with Big Blue. The Giants fired Daboll as head coach during last season. Daboll won the 2022 AP Coach of the Year Award after he left his post as the Bills' offensive coordinator to become the Giants head coach. However, the Giants had hoped Daboll would help their quarterback situation and that failed to happen along with more losses arriving. Schoen and the Giants are now tying their saddle to second-year QB Jaxson Dart moving forward and that draft pick likely played a big part in Schoen's extension.Bills Wire will continue to provide updates throughout the 2026 offseason. MJ Burnette, son of former Packers DB, announces commitment plans
Elite defensive back recruit MJ Burnette has planned out the rest of his recruiting process. Burnette, a three-star safety recruit in the class of 2027, plans to take three official visits before announcing his commitment on July 4. The talented defensive back plans to announce his commitment after visiting the Georgia Bulldogs (June 19-21), Alabama Crimson Tide (June 5-7) and Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets (May 29-31). Coach Kirby Smart and Georgia are set to have the last opportunity to make a pitch for the three-star. Burnette plays high school football for Walton High School in Marietta, Georgia. The 6-foot-4, 200-pound safety also plays wide receiver for Walton. Burnette has excellent height and often wins jump balls over opposing receivers. Burnette has good speed and is a ball hawk. The Walton star is ranked as a top-500 recruit in the country. Burnette is the No. 57 recruit in Georgia and the No. 47 cornerback nationally. 247Sports projects him as a cornerback at the next level, but Burnette's highlights showed him pretty much only playing safety or receiver during his junior season. However, his length would be useful at cornerback. MJ Burnette is the son of former Green Bay Packers defensive back Morgan Burnette, who played college football at Georgia Tech. Morgan Burnette was NFL teammates with former Alabama safety Ha Ha Clinton-Dix, who is now the Crimson Tide's director of player development. LSG IPL 2026 autopsy: How Rishabh Pant’s woes and Indian core's frailties became a disaster in the making
NEW DELHI: Since entering the fray in the Indian Premier League (IPL), Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) have always shown promise heading into the new campaign. But as a campaign would grow old, that said promise would evaporate in the thin air. And the 2026 season offered no exception.Last week, the final blow to a decaying season landed at home in Lucknow, where Shreyas Iyer’s brutal, unbeaten maiden IPL century powered the Punjab Kings to a crushing 7-wicket victory.Chasing 197, PBKS crossed the line with two full overs to spare. For the Lucknow Super Giants, Match 68 wasn't just another loss.Rather, it was a microscopic reflection of their entire year, flashing massive potential early, only to see the bowling unit totally unravel under pressure. The final standingsWhen the dust settled on the 2026 IPL league stage, the Lucknow Super Giants found themselves buried at the very bottom of the standings. It was an unmitigated disaster for a franchise built on high-profile expectations.IPL 2026 Points TablePosTeamPWLNRPtsNRR1Royal Challengers Bengaluru (Q)1495018+0.7832Gujarat Titans (Q)1495018+0.6953Sunrisers Hyderabad (Q)1495018+0.5244Rajasthan Royals (Q)1486016+0.1895Punjab Kings (E)1476115+0.3096Delhi Capitals (E)1477014-0.6517Kolkata Knight Riders (E)1467113-0.1478Chennai Super Kings (E)1468012-0.3459Mumbai Indians (E)1441008-0.58410Lucknow Super Giants (E)1441008-0.740Q = Qualified for playoffs | E = EliminatedMain reasons for missing the playoffsMissing Pieces and injury disruptionWanindu Hasaranga's void: Director of Cricket Tom Moody openly admitted that losing Hasaranga before the season completely disrupted the team’s structural blueprint. He was supposed to provide "mystery spin" in the middle overs and vital lower-order depth at number eight. Without him, the middle overs constantly leaked runs.Lack of bowling depth: Apart from Prince Yadav, who garnered 16 wickets from 14 matches, key domestic options struggled with consistency and fitness, leaving veterans like Mohammed Shami to shoulder too heavy a burden.Constant shuffling in lineup: Missing tactical anchors meant LSG spent the entire season mixing and matching combinations, preventing the playing XI from ever developing organic chemistry. The heavy price of overseas and marquee core failureRs 27 crore weight: Rishabh Pant’s record-breaking auction tag became a burden rather than a blessing. He opened the innings, came down the order, and was even tasked with anchoring the middle order while also captaining the ship. And what was the result? Pant managed only 312 runs across 14 matches at a mediocre average of 28.36 and a strike rate of 138.05.Expected roles vs actual returns: While players like Mitchell Marsh and Josh Inglis held their end up brilliantly at the top, the rest of the overseas hitting core vanished when most needed. Nicholas Pooran, usually an apex predator in the middle overs, suffered a catastrophic drop in form with 234 runs in 14 games with an alarming average of 18, epitomised by his 2-ball duck against Punjab in the final game.No return from lower order: LSG spent massive money on impact players who repeatedly failed to build on strong powerplay platforms, regularly exposing an under-equipped lower order. 131305078Inconsistency of Indian core marred the campaignLSG’s season was plagued by wild momentum swings, but it was bookended by absolute collapses and under-firing domestic stars such as Avesh Khan, Digvesh Rathi, and Shardul Thakur. They failed to string together consecutive wins, losing any momentum they built.LSG began the season with immediate stumbles. In the season opener, they lost to Delhi Capitals but made a turnaround with a string of three wins on the trot before crashing hard in mid-April to Gujarat Titans, Royal Challengers Bengaluru, and Punjab Kings.Just when they threatened to stage a late rally by defeating RCB on May 7, they collapsed entirely down the stretch, losing explicitly to CSK, RR, and PBKS to comfortably secure the wooden spoon. The collapse of the Ekana fortressIn previous iterations, the slow, gripping nature of the Ekana Stadium pitch made Lucknow a nightmare destination for travelling teams. In 2026, that home advantage evaporated entirely.LSG managed just a handful of wins in front of their home crowd, losing to the likes of DC, GT, KKR, and PBKS at Ekana.Travelling brought no relief. Apart from early away victories against SRH and KKR, they were soundly beaten in Chennai, Mumbai, and Jaipur, turning their away leg into a predictable nightmare.LSG player report cardCategoryPlayersExecutive summaryTop PerformersJosh Inglis, Mitchell MarshInglis and Marsh were lone warriors at the top, anchoring innings with crucial knocks and providing stability in difficult situations. Their performances often kept the team competitive despite inconsistent support from the rest of the batting lineup.Inconsistent PerformersMohammed Shami, Abdul SamadShami produced quality spells in phases but struggled during the death overs under pressure. Samad showed flashes of power-hitting brilliance late in innings but failed to consistently deliver match-winning contributions.Total FailuresRishabh Pant, Nicholas PooranPant failed to live up to expectations both as batter and leader, while Pooran could not produce the explosive middle-order impact that has made him one of T20 cricket’s most dangerous hitters. What is next for LSG?The current blueprint relies too heavily on individual brilliance rather than cohesive team structure. Tom Moody's postseason assessment highlighted a fatal flaw: the team repeatedly lost 4–5 wickets for minimal runs in the middle phases of an innings. They desperately need a tactical pivot toward reliable anchor accumulators who can protect the middle overs, allowing impact clearers to flourish late. Can Rishabh Pant lead the next era? This is the 27-crore question. Pant's tactical choices under pressure and his personal form drop suggest that the burden of captaincy, coupled with his price tag, severely hindered his natural flair. While he remains a generational talent, management must decide if they need to unburden him by bringing in a different leadership voice or shifting tactical control to the coaching staff. How LSG can become a contender in 2027With 2027 serving as the crucial bridge year before the massive 2028 Mega Auction, LSG's path forward requires precise, targeted adjustments:Fix the middle-order engine: Target reliable, spin-dominant domestic batters via the mini-auction or trade windows to stop the middle-overs collapses.Rebuild the spin philosophy: Recapturing a high-quality wrist-spinner or a mystery option to fill the Hasaranga void is non-negotiable if they want to make Ekana a fortress again.Shed underperforming baggage: Free up luxury purse space by making cutthroat decisions on highly paid international stars who failed to provide tangible returns.

Jumbo Package: Pitching, Defense carry Tide to WCWS
May 23, 2026; Tuscaloosa, AL, USA; Alabama pitcher Vic Moten (00) goes through the crowd accepting congratulations after the Tuscaloosa NCAA Super Regional between Alabama and LSU. Alabama advanced to the College World Series with a 4-1 victory and a series sweep. Moten was the starting pitcher for Alabama. | Gary Cosby Jr / USA TODAY NETWORK via Imagn Images Happy Monday, everyone. Alabama softball easily took care of LSU to advance to Oklahoma City, and championship caliber pitching was the key. The competition was elevated this weekend as Alabama played an SEC foe in LSU compared to the mid-major schools during the regional round, and the Tide’s top-two pitchers still made it extremely difficult on opposing batters.Briski and Moten continued to limit free passes with just two total walks compared to 23 strikeouts over the two wins. Briski was even dealing with a little sickness on Friday and appeared to shut down the Tigers with ease.Anything can happen in Oklahoma City, and Alabama will be tested off the bat against a UCLA offense that leads the nation in home runs with 196. But the Tide should have the arms to keep it in any game and make a deep run at the WCWS.Make no mistake, the defense has also played a role. The defense deserves half of that credit. Just in Saturday’s game alone, Ambrey Taylor made one grab at third base that prevented at least a base hit. But the signature defensive play of the game might have been via Kristen White. With the bases loaded and two outs in the second inning, White tracked down a shot to center field that fell just shy of a grand slam. That would have put LSU up 4-0 in the second inning.Instead, the Tigers never mustered more than one run.“If they’re not the great athletes they are, they’re not going to make these plays,” Murphy said. “You think of all the hits we took away, it’s because of our athleticism on defense.”Alabama effectively wasted the career of Montana Fouts thanks to a lack of power hitting and some high profile defensive meltdowns. This year’s squad has two outstanding pitchers, hits homers and plays elite defense. Get that ring, ladies. Nick Kelly expects the QB competition to last well into camp. Russell shined during A-Day, but Mack was banged up. All indications out of the program are that the battle remains close heading into the summer.Unless one quarterback quickly emerges once preseason practices begin, it’s a reasonable expectation Alabama looks to name a starter about two weeks or closer to the season opener. That’s more on the track of DeBoer’s previous stops than the 19 days from a season ago. It’s also not impossible Alabama plays both Mack and Russell to start the season, but it’s always better for a program when one quarterback makes it clear he should be the starter.Brad Crawford has Dijon Lee Jr. on his list of impact sophomores for 2026.7. Dijon Lee, CB, Alabama Lee made an immediate impact in Tuscaloosa as an all-SEC freshman team honoree after showing coaches he was the most consistent option at cornerback and unseating previous starter, Domani Jackson. A former five-star recruit rated as the No. 1 player out of California in the 2025 cycle for the Crimson Tide, Lee is a physical menace at 6-feet-4 and 205 pounds and runs like a wide receiver on the outside.Classmates Lotzeir Brooks, AK Dear and Michael Carroll will all have a chance to shine as well. This is a nice piece from Dick Harmon of The Deseret on CFP expansion. Expansion has some great pros — fairness, finances, broader joy. But if you chase the dollars too hard, you risk turning this mess into just another pro league with better tailgates.Administrators, choose wisely. Don’t let the soul of the game end up like so many old mascots — stuffed, mounted and forgotten in the rush for more. After all, in football as in life, sometimes less really is more. But in this greedy age?Well, pass the helmet. We’re probably going big anyway.Last, we will get the final word on Amari Allen’s NBA Draft decision this week. The NBA Draft deadline is on Wednesday, May 27, and Allen confirmed he won’t make his decision until then to 247Sports’ Brett Greenberg, who also reported that four different squads from the league will have the forward for workouts. The Memphis Grizzlies, New York Knicks, Oklahoma City Thunder and the Miami Heat are among teams that Allen said he was visiting with.In the majority of mock draft projections, Allen is expected to go either late in the first round or early in the second. The NBA Draft is set to take place June 23-24.That’s about it for today. Have a great week. Roll Tide.

IPL playoffs centuries list: Full list of hundreds scored in Indian Premier League knockout matches
IPL playoffs centuries list: Full list of hundreds scored in Indian Premier League knockout matches originally appeared on Cricket News. Add Cricket News as a Preferred Source by clicking here.KEY TAKEAWAYS:Of the 123 centuries scored in IPL history, only 7 have come in playoff matches. The 2014 playoffs produced two centuries alone, including the first-ever hundred in an IPL final.IPL 2026 has already seen 13 centuries in the league stage, with the playoffs heading to Dharamshala, New Chandigarh and Ahmedabad. Why are centuries so rare in IPL playoffs?Scoring a century in T20 cricket is no mean feat. In the league stage, a batter can take a few calculated risks, play himself in, and adjust to conditions over time. The playoff stage allows none of that luxury. Every ball carries the weight of an entire season. Bowlers are operating at their best, fields are set with surgical precision, and the margin for error vanishes completely. It is why, across 18 seasons and 123 centuries in IPL history, just 7 have come in knockout matches. The number is startling when you consider the quality of batting on display in these games, but it is also a testament to how differently the pressure of a do-or-die match affects even the very best.Full list of centuries scored in IPL playoff matchesNumberBatterTeamScoreOpponentStageYear1Murali VijayCSK113DDQualifier 220122Virender SehwagKXIP122CSKQualifier 220143Wriddhiman SahaKXIP115* KKRFinal20144Shane WatsonCSK117SRHFinal20185Rajat PatidarRCB112LSGEliminator20226Jos ButtlerRR106*RCBQualifier 220227Shubman GillGT129MIQualifier 22023The big moments: when it mattered mostMurali Vijay was in poor form in IPL 2012 until his playoff innings. But cometh the hour, cometh the man. His clutch knock of 113 in the Qualifier 2 against Delhi Capitals, which featured 15 fours and 4 sixes, helped CSK post 222 and win by 86 runs to reach the final. It was the first century ever scored in an IPL playoff match, and it set the tone for everything that followed. The 2014 playoffs then produced an astonishing big innings in quick succession. Virender Sehwag's 122 off 58 balls against CSK in Qualifier 2 at Wankhede, with 12 fours and 8 sixes guided Kings XI Punjab to 226 and into their first-ever final. Then, in that very final, Wriddhiman Saha finished unbeaten on 115 off 55 balls, the first century scored in an IPL final, helping Punjab post 199/4, though it still wasn't enough as Manish Pandey steered KKR home. Shane Watson's 117 off 57 balls in the 2018 final against SRH remains arguably the most celebrated of all playoff centuries. Watson walked in under the pressure of a final and quite literally dismantled one of the best bowling attacks in the tournament, guiding CSK to 182 and eventually their third IPL title.Rajat Patidar's 112 off 54 balls against Lucknow Super Giants in the 2022 Eliminator was the first-ever century in an Eliminator match and the first playoff century for RCB. Jos Buttler then added 106* in Qualifier 2 of the same 2022 season against RCB. And in 2023, Shubman Gill's scored 129 against Mumbai Indians in Qualifier 2. It still remains the highest score ever by a batter in an IPL playoff match.IPL 2026 playoffs: the stage is set for more historyIPL 2026 has already been a season for big hitting. Thirteen centuries have been recorded in the league stage alone, a remarkable number that underlines how freely runs have flowed this year. Now the action moves to three distinctive venues for the knockouts: the HPCA Stadium in Dharamshala for Qualifier 1 on May 26, the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium in New Chandigarh for the Eliminator (May 27) and Qualifier 2 (May 29), and the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad for the Final on May 31.Dharamshala, with its high altitude, short boundaries, and a ground that has historically favoured big batting, is perhaps the most likely venue to produce the next name on this list. With the quality of batting in the 2026 IPL, a playoff century or perhaps even two, feels closer than ever.To keep up to date with all the latest cricket news and share your opinion on the biggest topics visit our Facebook, Instagram and X (Twitter) pages.

‘I believe he’ll be ready for the first match’ – Spain manager talks Lamine, Pedri, Gavi, Fermin, Eric Garcia
‘I believe he’ll be ready for the first match’ – Spain manager talks Lamine, Pedri, Gavi, Fermin, Eric GarciaBarcelona players once again found themselves at the centre of attention as Luis de la Fuente unveiled Spain’s squad for the upcoming FIFA World Cup.As many as eight Barça names are set to play important roles for the national team, but the announcement also came with disappointment, injury concerns and important tactical hints regarding Spain’s plans.“I don’t know if there are eight of them, and even if I did, I’ve already forgotten. They’re players who are capable of playing for Spain; they’re part of the national team. “You know what Gavi’s injury meant; he’s highly valued. He’s the team’s star player, and as far as his footballing ability goes, I’m not about to reveal anything new,” said the national team manager. The most painful update involved Fermin Lopez, who will miss the World Cup after suffering a fracture in the recent match against Real Betis. The injury arrived at the worst possible moment for the young midfielder, who had been pushing to recover in time for the competition.Speaking about the situation, De la Fuente admitted the setback had been emotionally difficult for everyone involved.“It’s the hardest part; it’s the ugly side of sport. “When someone suffers an injury like Fermin’s, being so close to a return and knowing he wouldn’t be able to recover… it’s tough.”Justifying Gavi and Eric Garcia’s placeDe la Fuente has nothing but praise for Gavi. (Photo by Alex Caparros/Getty Images)One of the biggest positives for Barcelona supporters was the strong backing shown towards Gavi. After enduring difficult injury problems over the past year, the midfielder has successfully returned to regular football and has now regained an important role with the national team.De la Fuente made it very clear that Gavi’s inclusion was fully deserved and not based on reputation alone.“If you recall, Gavi was part of the Euro 2020 celebrations and was one of the team in the final. For us, it’s a joy on a personal level, but he’s earned it.“Nobody has handed him anything on a plate. He’s shown great resilience, he’s recovered and is performing at a high level, plus he’s played a lot for his club. We know what we can ask of him.”Meanwhile, Eric Garcia also received an important endorsement from the Spain coach.De la Fuente suggested that the Barcelona defender is expected to be used primarily as a centre-back during the tournament while also highlighting his tactical flexibility.“The initial plan is for him to be one of the centre-backs. We’ve doubled up on every position except for a few. “Eric, like Pubill or Marcos Llorente, is a very versatile player who can play in several positions.”On Lamine and PedriThe other major talking point surrounding Barcelona involves Lamine Yamal.Spain will be extremely cautious with Lamine Yamal. (Photo by Angel Martinez/Getty Images)The young winger is currently racing against time to regain full fitness ahead of the World Cup after recent physical issues. As things stand, he is expected to miss Spain’s opening two group-stage matches and could potentially return later in the tournament.Despite the enormous expectations surrounding the teenager, De la Fuente insisted that caution remains the priority.“First and foremost, caution. We need to give him the time he needs, especially now. “I believe he’ll be ready for the first match and we hope he can live up to expectations, but without putting undue pressure on him. He’s very mature.”Lastly, the Spain coach stressed the importance of how a ‘fit’ Pedri will be crucial for the team.“His injury at the European Championship was also a real blow. Pedri is much loved and highly valued. I’m delighted he’s with us. “I just ask that he performs at the same level he has at his club, but he’s capable of so much more. We’re delighted to have players of his calibre,” he concluded.Source: Mundo Deportivo

‘We’re Over The Moon’ – Jonathan Haggerty Relives Younger Bro’s Triumphant Win Over Yonis Anane At The Inner Circle
Freddie Haggerty returned to winning ways at The Inner Circle this past Friday, May 22. Nobody was happier about it than his older brother, ONE Bantamweight Kickboxing World Champion Jonathan “The General” Haggerty. The 21-year-old outworked WBC Muay Thai World Champion Yonis Anane across a back-and-forth strawweight Muay Thai battle, which streamed live for subscribers at live.onefc.com from the iconic Lumpinee Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand. View this post on InstagramFreddie pressed forward across all three rounds, landed clean calf kicks at range, caught and countered Anane’s best attacks, and timed his combinations behind sharp aggression that never let the French-Thai phenom settle into a rhythm. Both youngsters had their moments. However, the young Londoner did enough to walk away with the unanimous decision, improving to 24-5.Watching every second of it unfold from ringside was Jonathan, who has been with Freddie every step of the way.View this post on InstagramWhen the scorecards were read, the relief and the pride hit “The General” at the same moment.Jonathan has watched Freddie evolve from the kid who used to shadow him around the gym into a professional who can now stand across the ring from one of the brightest young talents. The May 22 performance was the latest chapter in a journey the older brother has been invested in from the very beginning. The British striker told onefc.com:“It was a technical fight. He was technical, Freddie was technical. And I believed Freddie got the unanimous decision.“It was a good performance coming up against a great opponent. The Anane brothers are great fighters – they’re both good fighters. He’s a WBC World Champion, but Freddie trained hard for this one.”View this post on InstagramThe hand was raised, and the job was done. But for an older brother who demands nothing short of perfection, the assessment carried its own honest measuring stick. Jonathan saw a warrior who controlled the ring, picked his opponent apart from range, and executed the game plan cleanly. He also saw a fighter who has even more to unleash on the global stage. The Englishman continued:“I’d give him an eight [out of ten] because I know he could have knocked him out. But I feel like he just went in with a bit of a technical version of himself. If he had knocked him out, I’d give him a ten.“I was confident that Freddie was in control. Freddie was more of the aggressor, pushing forward with the calf kicks, catching the kicks, and striking back. We’re over the moon with the win, and onto the next one.”View this post on InstagramJonathan Haggerty Eyes Two-Sport Glory Once AgainJonathan Haggerty’s two-sport mission comes with one belt to reclaim and a prized possession to defend. The Knowlesy Academy and Team Underground superstar wants to collide against ONE Bantamweight Muay Thai World Champion Rambolek Chor Ajalaboon to capture the crown he dropped to “The Kicking Machine” Superlek at ONE 168: Denver. But the 29-year-old is also happy to defend his kickboxing strap against former divisional king Hiroki Akimoto, who currently rides a three-fight winning streak:“I want the Muay Thai World Title, you know. That means a lot to me. That belt means a lot to me. I want to win it again.“Rambolek has got the belt, and I also want to defend my belt against the #1 in the division in kickboxing. Maybe Akimoto – we’ll just have to wait and see.”View this post on InstagramWhile he is more than pleased to put his gold on the line, which he defended for the second time with a striking clinic against Yuki Yoza at ONE SAMURAI 1, the Londoner would ideally like to complete his two-sport takeover first.Rambolek dethroned Nabil Anane after a five-round battle this past March to make it six victories in succession. He is in the form of his life, but “The General” isn’t taking a backward step in pursuit of his dream. When asked for a message for the Thai slugger, Jonathan kept it short, simple, and respectful:“Let’s just fight. May the best man win.”View this post on InstagramSource

Kevin Durant’s historic All-NBA feat adds twist to Rockets future debate
Photo by Jack Gorman/Getty ImagesKevin Durant has reached another individual milestone, even as debate continues over his broader impact. Since leaving Golden State, every stop has come with title expectations and plenty of scrutiny.Brooklyn and Phoenix both fell short of the championship breakthrough many expected. Now, Houston’s next step with Durant has become one of the offseason’s biggest questions. The Rockets have not confirmed any major shift in direction, but speculation about Durant’s future is swirling, now alongside a record no NBA player had reached before him.Kevin Durant becomes first All-NBA player across five franchisesPhoto by Tim Warner/Getty ImagesDurant is now the first player in NBA history to be named to an All-NBA team with five different franchises, adding Houston to OKC, Golden State, Brooklyn and Phoenix. It is an achievement that speaks as much to his longevity as his movement. Across his career, Durant has earned six All-NBA First Team selections and six Second Team selections. But his last First Team appearance came back in 2018, during his time with the Warriors. That gap helps explain why not everyone is purely celebrating. Durant remains elite enough to keep breaking new ground, but questions persist about whether his teams can become true title contenders. For Houston, that is the real decision. Durant’s CV keeps growing, but the Rockets must decide how much of their future should still be built around him after a disappointing first round elimination, where ‘KD’ barely played due to an ankle injury.Read more:Former NBA forward submits Michael Beasley in wild Adin Ross MMA crossoverOG Anunoby laughs off Charles Barkley question after Knicks beat Cavaliers in Game 3Bogdan Bogdanovic shares stunning video as he doubles down on NBA red card idea

Large salaries suggest 4 undrafted free agents have best odds with Broncos
The Denver Broncos signed 13 undrafted free agents following the NFL draft (they later swapped out one cornerback for another), and fans will be eager to track the UDFAs during training camp this summer.Denver has a great history of landing UDFA gems, including wide receiver Rod Smith, cornerback Chris Harris, pass rusher Shaq Barrett and running back C.J. Anderson, who all won at least one Super Bowl with the Broncos. Denver's had at least one UDFA make the active roster in 21 of the last 22 seasons, and there are a few strong candidates who could continue that trend in 2026. Everyone will get an opportunity to impress this summer, but their contracts could provide early clues about how the Broncos ranked each player coming out of the draft.Texas A&M linebacker Taurean York ($325,000 guaranteed) and Iowa State offensive lineman Tyler Miller ($275,000 guaranteed) both received $25,000 signing bonuses, according to KUSA-TV's Mike Klis. That might make them the early favorites to make the 53-man roster.Additionally, Denver gave $20,000 signing bonuses to Nebraska outside linebacker Dasan McCullough ($265,000 guaranteed) and California cornerback Brent Austin ($100,000 guaranteed), according to Klis. Those four players were the only ones among the 13 who received a signing bonus larger than $10,000.Last year, Utah linebacker Karene Reid received the second-highest guaranteed salary ($249,000) among the Broncos' 2025 UDFA signings, and he went on to make the active roster. So it's probably fair to say that York, Miller, McCullough and Austin should be considered the early favorites among the 2026 UDFAs to make the 53-man roster.Social: Follow Broncos Wire on Facebook and Twitter/X! Strasbourg boss Gary O’Neil of interest to West Ham United
Strasbourg boss Gary O’Neil of interest to West Ham UnitedWest Ham United are interested in appointing Strasbourg manager Gary O’Neil to replace Nuno Espirito Santo, according to The Guardian. West Ham and the Portuguese are expected to part ways following the Hammers’ relegation from the Premier League. The London Stadium club are identifying potential replacements to take over from Nuno, and O’Neil has emerged as a target. Former Burnley manager Scott Parker is also being eyed as West Ham look for their fifth manager in two years.O’Neil led Strasbourg to an eighth-place finish in the just-concluded Ligue 1 campaign, missing out on qualification for next term’s Europa Conference League qualifiers by just one point. AS Monaco ended the season on 54 points, while Strasbourg finished with 53 points. O’Neil joined them in January, replacing Liam Rosenior who left for Chelsea, and he could be on his way back to England. The West Ham managerial target was with Wolverhampton Wanderers before moving to France, spending 16 months with them before his sacking in December 2024.O’Neil also worked with AFC Bournemouth as a coach before becoming the first-team manager and he brings plenty of experience to the table. However, whether a move to the Championship appeals to him, and Parker could be the best man for the job given his record in the second division.

The Virat Kohli-Travis Head IPL 2026 controversy has now taken an absurd turn, with several cricket fans mistakenly targeting American rapper Travis Scott on social media because of his first name. What began as an on-field spat during the IPL clash between Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Sunrisers Hyderabad has spiralled into widespread online trolling, with fans flooding Travis Scott’s Instagram comments section with abuse intended for Head. The bizarre mix-up has stunned social media users, especially considering the rapper has no connection whatsoever to the IPL controversy. Despite many users pointing out the obvious mistake, trolling continued on Scott’s Instagram page, which has over 59 million followers. The incident once again highlighted the darker side of fan culture online, where outrage often spreads faster than facts.Travis Head and wife reveal online abuseThe social media chaos comes amid reports that Head and his wife Jessica have themselves been subjected to intense online abuse following Friday’s heated IPL encounter. The controversy erupted after Kohli and Head exchanged words during RCB’s chase. According to reports, Head jokingly told Kohli to play more attacking shots, prompting a sarcastic response from the former India captain, who reportedly asked the Australian to bowl himself despite being used as an Impact Player. After Kohli was dismissed for 15 and RCB slumped to a crushing 55-run defeat, tensions appeared to continue during the post-match handshakes when Kohli seemingly ignored Head’s outstretched hand while greeting other SRH players. The moment quickly went viral across social media platforms.Jessica Head later revealed that abusive messages were directed not only at the couple but also at their friends and family members.“I woke up to my socials blasting... we are fine but they are attacking my friends and family,” Jessica told Australian media outlet The Advertiser. “It feels like a repeat of the abuse that happened after the World Cup.”‘There are real people behind the game’Jessica also recalled similar incidents after Australia defeated India in the 2023 ODI World Cup final, the World Test Championship final and the 2024 Boxing Day Test.At the time, even the couple’s young daughter reportedly received disturbing threats online.“I think across all sports at the moment there’s an important conversation around mental health, perspective and the way we speak to one another,” Jessica said. “Passion will always be part of sport, but so is remembering there are real people and families behind the game.” 131305059

After his Rico Verhoeven scare, is this the beginning of the end for Oleksandr Usyk?
At the end of a long night, there was relief for Oleksandr Usyk in the shadow of the pyramids in the great Giza Plateau. It finished with Rico Verhoeven in the arms of referee, Mark Lyson, with just one second left on the clock in round 11; there should be no debate about Lyson’s stoppage. A fight is finished by the referee with no consideration for the clock, just a desire to make sure that a boxer is healthy. There is talk of an official appeal, talk that the bell to end the round sounded before Lyson had stopped the fight, but there is no technology that can register the exact end, no clock that stops, just a man jumping between two battered and bruised boxers. It is an inexact science, but it works. Rico Verhoeven after his late stoppage by Oleksandr Usyk (Getty)The controversy surrounding the ending has helped shield Usyk from examination; the world heavyweight champion, unbeaten, untouchable in so many fights, and regal on both sides of the ropes, looked troubled throughout the fight. One judge correctly had Verhoeven in front going into round 11; two had it a kind draw. Usyk was close to defeat, closer than he had been for a very long time. It is too easy to say that Verhoeven offered a style that Usyk could not solve; too simple to insist that Verhoeven's size was the factor. The truth is that Usyk, who looked fleshy and heavy and lacked a sharp edge from the opener, was just off it all night. Verhoeven was expected to start fast, fade, and get stopped on his feet in about six or so rounds – perhaps Usyk believed the hype. It is more likely that he simply took his eyes off the prize. He is only human, and at 39, after nearly 30 years in the boxing trade, he can be excused for having a night off. It is, perhaps, revealing that the first thing Usyk said when he was interviewed in the ring was not about the fight, but about a conversation he had with his daughter that very day. “She is in a bomb shelter,” he said. Have we become so immune to human disaster that we hear that and still question why a man did not look and fight like he normally does? The line was lost in all the screaming and shouting in the ring at the end. Usyk has now won 14 world title fights across two weights in seven countries. He is a national idol in Ukraine and has beaten, in style, bigger and more dangerous men than Verhoeven. However, it looked like it was far more than just a bad night, a night when he had other things on his mind. It looked like the start of the end, and that can often be revealed in far more than just a decline in speed or reactions; Usyk looked like he was not enjoying the bout, and Verhoeven was heroic on the night. Usyk looked uncomfortable, and that is a problem. A sharper, younger and lighter Usyk would have solved Verhoeven and won in style.Usyk was expected to dispatch Verhoeven with ease (Getty)Verhoeven will be an even bigger threat in the rematch, but Usyk walking away must surely be one of the options. Usyk is smart enough and rich enough not to become a victim of pride and hubris in a business he has dominated for so long.

An Incomplete List of Successful Anti-Data Center Legislation
Opposition to the massive data centers that power AI is bipartisan and growing across the country. From Maine to California, more states and local communities are passing moratoriums and bans on construction of the noisy, power and water hungry buildings. People are getting arrested for speaking too long at town halls, legislators are receiving death threats, and it’s clear that the fight against these computer warehouses will shape American politics for years to come.In Ypsialanti Township, Michigan, the University of Michigan has partnered with America’s nuclear weapons scientists to build a massive $1.2 billion data center. Earlier this month, the Ypsilanti utility authority paused the delivery of water to new data center projects for six months, a move the University called “unlawfully discriminatory.”On May 10, Colleton County South Carolina passed a six month moratorium on data center construction with an option to extend. The moratorium came ahead of the planned construction of an 800 acre data center in the ACE Basin Estuary that would build on 200 acres of untouched wetlands. Local landowners and the South Carolina Environmental Law Center were already suing to halt construction of the project. This is the second location for the particular project. The builders first tried to build the data center in Georgia last year but failed after local opposition grew too strong. Logistics company Prologis eyed Washington Township, Michigan for a 312-acre data center project. Locals organized and voiced their opposition at planning meetings. “I have just learned that the petitioner for that project has just withdrawn their application,” Audrey Brown, a Washington Township Clerk said in a post on Facebook yesterday . “This means that as of today, there are no data center projects under consideration by the township. Therefore, I will be adding a temporary moratorium for all data center applications for consideration at tomorrow night’s board meeting. The moratorium will give our community time to put legal safeguards in place.” Microsoft cancelled a planned 244-acre data center in the Village of Caledonia, Wisconsin after 2,000 people in the area signed a petition that opposed rezoning the land. “I would’ve liked to been able to engage directly with Microsoft much earlier in the process. We were not allowed to do that. I think that became an obstacle for a lot of different points and reasons,” Nancy Pierce, a Village trustee, told local news outlet WTMJ.Georgia is considering a bill that would prevent cities from issuing permits to data centers until 2027. Maryland has a bill referred to committee that would pause data centers in the state until the legislature figured out how to provide power to them. Oklahoma is considering a law that would pause data centers until 2029 while the state conducts research on water and utility rate impacts. Even Virginia—home to massive concentration of data centers—is considering a proposal to halt new construction until specific power needs are met. But there are high profile failures in the fight too. Maine was set to pass a statewide moratorium on new data center construction, the first of its kind in the United States. But Governor Janet Mills vetoed the bill saying that she supported a ban in principle, but wanted a carve out for a data center already under construction in the southern part of the state. For anti-data center activists there will be victories and losses but a coalition is taking shape, one that cuts across party lines and has people engaging with politics on a local level in a way that hasn’t been seen in decades.

Whatever goings-on occur with them other folks is between them ’n’ God. Chris Ayres credits Stanford administration for keeping wrestling roster intact amid transfer portal
Stanford wrestling coach Chris Ayres could’ve had a completely different roster going into 2026-27 if it weren’t for the administration. Ayres saw four wrestlers, three of them being All-Americans, enter the transfer portal this cycle.Nico Provo (125), Tyler Knox (133), Hunter Garvin (165) and Lorenzo Norman (174) all decided to test the waters. All except Norman (Oklahoma State) ended up returning following Ayres’ public plea. This was on the heels of Stanford finishing 6th at the NCAA championships and had an individual national champion in Aden Valencia (149). Safe to say, if all four wrestlers left at once, they would;ve bene huge holes to fill for Stanford.“The best thing that came out of this whole exercise was the administration’s response,” Ayres said on The Athletor Podcast. “So we have a new AD, he’s been here not even a year, former CEO of Nike, he’s transformed this place. So I got into this jam with these guys going on the portal, and you know, you never let a good crisis go to waste. So we had basically scrambled the jet fighters, and there’s no way, zero chance I would have been able to keep these guys without the response of this administration.” Ayres didn’t dive into specifics, but NIL was a big factor in making things whole for the program. Guys like Knox for instance, were rumored to follow former assistant coach Hayden Hidlay to NC State. It seemed too obvious. But Provo, Knox and Garvin are all back for next season to pair with Valencia and other podium contenders such as Jack Consiglio (141), Daniel Cardenas (157) and Angelo Posada (197). Ayres and Stanford, on paper anyway, look like one of the strongest teams in teh country with those guys back.“And so just, you know, as simple as decision making, like getting to some decisions we needed quickly, they happened. So, do I think that we can get there? 100% and that’s what’s different about Stanford,” Ayres said. “Stanford has the most national champions in team sports. 50 years in a row, we’ve had a national champion, no national championship team, not wrestling. I’m just speaking to the whole athletics department. “We have the most individual national champions of any school. They want to be great at wrestling, they want to be great at athletics, and they want to be great at academics. So that’s a really important piece of the puzzle for me is that they want to be the best, so their reaction is huge, and probably the best thing we got out of this was their involvement. They realized they could help, and they did help a lot.”

De’Aaron Fox reveals what happened inside Spurs locker room after Game 3 loss
Photo by Katelyn Mulcahy/Getty ImagesThe San Antonio Spurs bounced back from their Game 3 defeat with a composed 103-82 win over the defending champion Oklahoma City Thunder on Sunday night.Victor Wembanyama led the way with 33 points, providing San Antonio with the statement performance they needed after back-to-back losses in the series.Oklahoma City were also without Ajay Mitchell, a key rotation player, and the Spurs did not miss the chance to take advantage of a weakened opponent.De’Aaron Fox reveals Greg Popovich’s locker-room message after Spurs defeatPhoto by Alex Goodlett/Getty ImagesAfter Game 4, De’Aaron Fox told NBC that Gregg Popovich had entered the Spurs locker room following Game 3, the first time he had done so all season.Asked by Tracy McGrady about what happened after the defeat, Fox said: “That was the first time he [Popovich] walked into the locker room and was like ‘Nah, that’s b——, that’s not how we play basketball.“And obviously he had some choice words for us, but that was the first time all season that he came into the locker room right after a game and told us how he felt.”That mattered because Popovich is no ordinary voice in San Antonio. Even away from daily coaching duties, his standards still define what Spurs basketball should look like. The response came quickly. San Antonio played with sharper control, Wembanyama set the tone, and the Thunder never found the rhythm needed to make Game 4 close.Read more:Kevin Durant’s historic All-NBA feat adds twist to Rockets future debateFormer NBA forward submits Michael Beasley in wild Adin Ross MMA crossoverOG Anunoby laughs off Charles Barkley question after Knicks beat Cavaliers in Game 3

Wyndham Clark Turns Back The Clock To Win 2026 CJ Cup Byron Nelson
MCKINNEY, TEXAS - MAY 24: Wyndham Clark of the United States reacts after making a birdie on the 17th hole green during the final round of THE CJ CUP Byron Nelson 2026 at TPC Craig Ranch on May 24, 2026 in McKinney, Texas. (Photo by Mike Mulholland/Getty Images)Getty ImagesThe PGA Tour schedule continued at the TPC Craig Ranch this past weekend for the 2026 CJ Cup Byron Nelson tournament. With the Tour’s second major, the PGA Championship, the week before, the field at the CJ Cup was watered down, to say the least.Nonetheless, it was a tournament which was built for the player who could truly go low. When you look at past winners, and their scores, this tournament is traditionally won by players who can make birdies, or better. In some instances, a par has players leaving the green feeling as if they just dropped a shot on the field.Despite TPC Craig Ranch spending millions of dollars in upgrades to make the course more difficult, it didn’t impact the scoring much. Rain early in the week resulted in preferred lies for those in the fairways, and that meant players were dialed in and firing at pins. It was a race to the finish, and when the dust settled on Sunday it was Wyndham Clark winning the CJ Cup Byron Nelson by three shots with a -30 score. It was Clark’s fourth win on tour, and his latest since his 2024 win at the Pebble Beach Pro-Am.Clark won the tournament on the greens, dominating the field in strokes gained putting, and it was the flat blade which held off the likes of Si Woo Kim, Scottie Scheffler, Keith Mitchell, and even Tony Finau. Either way, it was a deserving win for Clark, who needed a boost after a series of negative narratives surrounding him since his last victory. Does this win mean Clark will be more of a factor moving forward in the lead up to the U.S. Open, a tournament Clark won in 2023? This was certainly a step in the right direction, but it’s time to take a look at how we did with our picks for the 2026 CJ Cup Byron Nelson.2026 CJ Cup Byron Nelson PicksLet’s start with a review of the odds to win the tournament heading into Thursday:Scottie Scheffler (+170)Si Woo Kim (+1275)Jordan Spieth (+1750)Brooks Koepka (+2500)Keith Mitchell (+3750)When it comes to picks for this event, I like to start with my favorite and long shot picks for the tournament. The favorite pick is the pick I like the most for an outright winner. For the long shot winner, that is a golfer who has over +2000 odds to win. It is a long shot pick for a reason, and finding those can be like finding a needle in a haystack. Favorite: Scottie Scheffler (+170) - MISSThe fact Scheffler had just +170 odds entering this event gave me pause, but with the field being lesser-than it felt like a safe bet. Scheffler played well, finishing solo 3rd, but just couldn’t make enough birdies to chase down Wyndham Clark. Long Shot: Keith Mitchell (+3750) - MISSMitchell has had some Top 10 finishes this season, and his 5th place finish had him close to pulling off my first long shot win since making picks. Nonetheless, Mitchell fell short of the outright win, but he did help us in another category of picks.Top 5 Bets For CJ Cup Byron Nelson 2026Si Woo Kim (+210) - HITKim plays well at this event, and it seemed like a logical play to put him in the Top 5 category. He came through for us, finishing solo 2nd, and helped us hit at +210. What is crazy is Kim finishing Top 5 was better odds than Scheffler winning the tournament outright.Scottie Scheffler (-265) - HITI’m not a fan of taking a golfer at -265, but Scheffler seemed like a sure bet in this regard. If you put a small amount of money on Scheffler to be in the Top 5 you didn’t get much of a return, but it’s a win none the less with Scheffler’s solo 3rd place finish.Top 10 Picks For 2026 CJ Cup OddsJordan Spieth (+144) - MISSSpieth is a Texas resident, and I felt he would play well in this tournament. My hunch turned out to be accurate, but it just didn’t play out into a winning Top 10 pick. Spieth’s Saturday of +2 did him in, and he finished with a T19 finish in the tournament. Speith’s game continues to trend in the right direction, but he just has to be able to put together four rounds of golf before being a viable contender.Brooks Koepka (+205) - MISSKoepka, like Spieth, was a player who entered the CJ Cup trying to get himself his first win in a long time. Koepka looked to be in the mix after Rounds 1 and 2, but he failed to make enough shots on the weekend to contend with the likes of Clark, Kim, and Scheffler. Koepka had a good tournament, finishing T14, but just outside the desired Top 10 designation.Top 20 Value Picks For The CJ Cup Byron Nelson 2026Keith Mitchell (+126) - HITMitchell was out long shot play for the tournament, and throwing him into the Top 20 category seemed like a logical play. Mitchell’s stellar play equated in a winning bet, as he finished solo 5th. Mitchell helps us hit another pick in this tournament.Tony Finau (+290) - HITEvery week I take a “gut pick” for the Top 20 category, and this week it was Tony Finau. Finau has too much game to be playing as poorly as he has been on tour this season. After missing out on The Masters, I took the hunch Finau would be able to go low in this event. And he did, finishing T6. Finau helps us cash both of our Top 20 plays.Prop Bets, Parlays And Bonus Plays for the CJ Cup Byron NelsonDouble Chance: Scottie Scheffler or Si Woo Kim (+130) - MISSTop USA Golfer: Scottie Scheffler (+118) - MISSTournament Review:Outright Plays: 4/8Bonus Plays: 0/2This article was originally published on Forbes.com

Every queer hockey player to win the PWHL Walter Cup
The Montreal Victoire took home the 2026 PWHL Walter Cup last week, turning one of the league's queerest teams into hockey playoff champs. Not only do the Victoires have seven queer plates, but their win against the Ottawa Charge marked the first time wives lifted the cup in the air together. Marie-Philip Poulin, AKA “Captain Clutch,” was not only named the playoff MVP, but scored the team’s first-ever Walter Cup win with wife Laura Stacey playing by her side. The NHL may be struggling to beat the homophobia wrap and still not have a single out LGBTQ+ in 2026, but the Professional Women’s Hockey League doesn’t have the same problem. The league prides itself on being inclusive, and almost every team in the league has multiple queer players. The PWHL is still in it’s infancy, which means that there have only been three Walter Cup winning teams so far — the Minnesota Frost won in 2024 and 2025 — but there have already been 10 lesbian and sapphic players to hoist that cup in the air.Emma GrecoSee on Instagramwww.instagram.comNow a member of the Boston Fleet, Emma Greco took home when she was a member of the the inaugural 2023–24 PWHL Minnesota Frost championship team.Michela CavaSee on Instagramwww.instagram.comMichela Cava has won the Walter Cup twice, in 2024 and 2025, as a member of the Minnesota Frost. Fantasy Football 101: Everything beginners need to know for the 2026 NFL season
If you’re here, you’re probably wondering what fantasy football is, right? Well, it’s pretty simple. What’s the definition of fantasy? According to Yahoo Scout, it’s “a product of the human creative imagination that exists apart from reality.” So when we tack on football to the end of that, it’s essentially imagining that you have a football team. You know, football, the NFL, the biggest sports league in the world.Yes, despite not having the money to own/manage your own NFL team, you have the power to manage your own fantasy football team through Yahoo.Jump to different sections of this articleScoringHow leagues workDraftingSeason structureRoster managementScoringBefore you sign up, let’s go over exactly how fantasy football works. The crux of the game is that you accumulate fantasy points from real-life statistics. This can vary depending on the format but we’ll get into that a bit more later. For example, if a running back rushes for 10 yards, that will net you 1.0 fantasy point. If a quarterback throws for 25 passing yards, that will give you 1.0 fantasy point. And as players rack up stats, you rack up the fantasy points. Pretty simple, right?Touchdowns are worth 6.0 fantasy points. Interceptions thrown by your QB will lose you a point (or more, in some scoring settings). And some formats have bonuses based on how well your players perform. For example, if your starting wide receiver goes for 100+ yards, you could receive more points. Again, each format is different, so be sure to check your league settings before heading into your fantasy football draft. If you create your own league, you, as the commissioner, can set your own scoring settings for the league. You also have to fill out a kicker spot and defense/special teams unit. Kickers accumulate points based on made field goals and extra points while defenses get points for sacks, fumble recoveries, interceptions, etc. Defenses start each game with 10 points and that total decreases as the team allows real-life points to the opponent. For example, if you have the Packers defense and they allow 17 points, that would be worth 1.0 fantasy point. If Green Bay were to allow six points, that would be worth 7 fantasy points. There are different league formats that you can follow, mainly centered around point scoring. The Yahoo default is half-PPR, which means players are awarded a half point (0.5) for each reception. You can also play standard (no points per reception) and full-PPR (1.0 point per reception). Most leagues have passing touchdowns worth the standard 4 points, while some set it at 6 points.Yahoo default scoring for offensive statisticsEach reception:0.5 pointsEvery 25 passing yards:1 pointEach passing TD:4 pointsEach interception thrown:-1 pointsEvery 10 rushing yards:1 pointEach rushing TD:6 pointsEvery 10 receiving yards:1 pointEach receiving TD:6 pointsEach return TD:6 pointsEach Off Fum Ret TD:6 pointsEach 2-point conversion:2 pointsEach fumble lost:-2 pointsYou can head here to read more about Yahoo fantasy scoring. How fantasy leagues workJoining a public league is simple. You head to this link that will take you to the Yahoo Fantasy Football main page. From there, you’ll see a “Join now” button to click unless you want to create a league instead. After that, you’ll be able to choose if you want to draft now or later, and you can pick the draft type (standard, salary cap or autopick). Every league is a head-to-head format. You’ll choose your draft date and time and then you’re all set. This is a great option if you can't get a group together to play or want to join another league without having to worry about the logistics. There are options to play for free or for cash in Public Prize Leagues on Yahoo. If you have friends ready to play but not enough to fill an entire league, our feature, Draft With Friends, is the perfect solution. You can instantly invite up to four people to join you in a free public league. You can also create or join private leagues with friends, which usually include some type of invite from the commissioner in order to join. The commissioner or creator of the league will set up the rules. The commish is usually in charge of collecting league dues if a league decides to compete for a monetary reward, setting up the draft time (whether online or offline) and in some cases, can be the judge of in-season trades (which we go over below).Join or create a Yahoo Fantasy Football league for the 2026 NFL seasonDraftingThis is where the real fun begins.Every Yahoo standard league will have a draft. The only cases in which you won’t have a draft are in certain formats where you keep your entire roster, usually dynasty or keeper formats. Those are a bit advanced, so for this story, we’re going to focus on redraft leagues. That’s when your league drafts new players every season before things kick off. Most draft formats are snake drafts, where each manager will pick until the last manager picks in a round, then the draft snakes around. So, for instance, if you have the No. 12 pick in the first round of a 12-team league, you’ll then get the 13th pick at the start of the second round. The other draft type is salary cap. This is where each manager is given a budget of $200 to spend on players to fill out their rosters. Managers will rotate nominating players to be bid on. This goes on until every team’s roster is filled out. This draft means a different type of strategy. Managers can opt to spend most of their budget on a few elite core players or balance things out by allocating a certain amount of spending for each position. In either snake or salary cap formates, you’ll draft until your roster is completely filled out. In Yahoo standard formats, here’s how your roster will be set up by position:QBRBRBWRWRTEFLEXKickerDefenseBenchBenchBenchBenchBenchBenchThe FLEX spot is where you can play an RB, WR or TE of your choosing. Leagues can also use different roster compositions. This can mean an additional wide receiver spot, an additional FLEX space and even a second QB slot. A Superflex league will have a FLEX position in which you can play any of the four offensive positions (QB, RB, WR, TE).You can practice drafting by heading to our mock draft lobby. How the fantasy season worksOnce you have your team, you’ll set a new roster each week with players locking into their positions at kickoff of their respective games. You’ll go head-to-head with other managers in your league until a winner is crowned each week after Monday Night Football.Season structure and playoffsIf you have more points than your opponent at the end of the week on Tuesday morning, you win the matchup. You’ll accumulate a record throughout the season that will provide the standings for your league. Most leagues run the regular season through Week 14, then the fantasy playoffs begin. How many teams make the playoffs will vary, but in Yahoo standard 12-team formats, half of the teams will make the postseason, so if you’re a top-six team, you make it in! If two teams are tied for sixth place, the tiebreaker would be total points scored during the regular season. From there, the playoffs will take place from Weeks 15-17. Usually in leagues of 12 teams or more, the top two teams in your league will receive a bye into the semifinals. The championship round is usually before the end of the season because NFL teams tend to rest key players in Week 18 if they’ve clinched a playoff spot or have been eliminated from playoff contention. In 10-team leagues, four teams typically make the playoffs with the postseason games beginning in Week 16 and the title matchup in Week 17.No matter when the playoffs start or how many teams make the postseason, the ultimate goal is to be crowned your league’s champion and earn the bragging rights that come with it.NFL teams plays for the Lombardi Trophy, but you'll get a chance to take home some hardware of your own if you win your fantasy football league. (Photo by Todd Rosenberg/Getty Images)Todd Rosenberg via Getty ImagesWeekly roster managementIn order to win it all, you’ll need to make moves along the way via trade or the waiver wire, which is where all players who aren’t on team rosters live. You’ll be able to edit your lineup, add and drop players throughout the season. Your waiver wire rules will vary league-to-league. The default deadline for waiver wire claims is Tuesday night. Claims are processed early Wednesday morning and you can see if you’ve been awarded a player off waivers. Some leagues will use a budget-based system, in which you are given a dollar amount for the entire season to bid on players off the waiver wire. This is referred to as FAB or Free Agent Budget. So if you’re in 12th place in a 12-team league, you would have the first priority during the waiver period, so you would win your first claim. But after you add a player, your name gets put to the bottom of the priority list until after that week’s matchups. Most leagues don’t reset the waiver priority list week-to-week and it’s continually rolling when teams add players. The waiver wire may be the most important thing to consider throughout the season. You’re going to feel good about your team after the draft but things don’t always work out the way you think. Injuries happen, players underperform, so you’ll want to be active on the waiver wire each week. Even if you aren’t experiencing injuries and you’re 3-0, 5-1, 7-2, whatever, the waiver wire will always provide players who can be an upgrade to your roster. You can also make trades with other managers during the season, with a default trade deadline varying depending on your league settings. We’re here for youIf you’re looking for advice during the season to help you toward a championship, Yahoo has you covered with our extensive fantasy football coverage all year.
