Fantasy Baseball Rest-of-Season Rankings: Scott Pianowski's updated risers and fallers as of May 26
Every week, we check in and update the rest-of-season MLB rankings. Use them however you like — for team self-scouting, for trade ideas, for spirited debate or a start-from-scratch fantasy baseball draft.Let’s have a look at some of the risers and fallers; the player values are never static, even if it feels like chasing a butterfly at times.UpgradeAdley Rutschman, C, Orioles: The two down seasons had me worried, catching all the Matt Wieters vibes. But Rutschman is healthy again and crushing, maintaining excellent plate discipline skills while bumping up his hard-hit profile. The bat speed is also trending upward, and his expected stats support the front-door numbers. In what’s been a messy year for catchers, it’s good to have a productive Rutschman back in our lineups.Aroldis Chapman, SP, Red Sox: When Chapman turned in a career-best season at age 37, a lot of pundits scoffed and dared him to do it again. Hey, he just might. Chapman’s strikeouts are down slightly and the walk rate has ticked up a little, but he remains very difficult to hit and basically impossible to homer off. The fastball is also down a beat, but 97.5 mph from a left-hander is a coveted thing. Few things have gone right in Boston this year, but at least Chapman can still keep those ninth-inning leads preserved.Kyle Schwarber, OF, Phillies: Schwarber is never going to be a WAR darling because he has no defensive value, but he might have a shot at 500 homers. He’s leading the NL in taters for the third time in five years, and his 163 OPS+ is a career high. All of the hard-hit stats stump for Schwarber, and his batting average is no longer a major fantasy drain. He was the perfect second-round pick all along, but you might need to take him in Round 1 in a redraft.Ernie Clement, UTIL, Blue Jays: Sometimes you have to appreciate a throwback, and Clement is one of those guys. He rarely walks, he swings at almost anything, and he doesn’t hit the ball especially hard. And yet there he is with a .299/.324/.441 slash, playing every day and covering four infield positions. He might struggle to get past 10 homers and he only steals the occasional base, so there’s a capped upside with Clement. But he’s the perfect player for a mixed-league bench, ready to go for those shorter Monday and Thursday slates.Casey Schmitt, Utility, Giants: Here’s another player who swings at almost anything but makes it work — Schmitt has a modest strikeout rate and also has a decent hard-hit profile. His expected stats support his fast start — .278 expected average, .522 expected slugging.Schmitt opened the year in the bottom third of the lineup but he’s been the dedicated No. 3 man for most of May. It’s fun when the success stories come out of nowhere.Play 2026 Soccer Pick 'Em with FOX One and make your picks for the world's biggest soccer tournamentNote that Schmitt added outfield eligibility this week, to go with three infield spots.JJ Bleday, OF, Reds: Perhaps we should be more open-minded to Bleday’s breakout, given that he was the fourth overall pick in the 2019 draft and he’s still just 28. He’s mostly used as a RHP crusher, with a .275/.383/.638 slash in the platoon advantage (six homers, 12 walks in 69 at-bats). If you can work the schedule, note that Bleday also gets a 152-point OPS boost in the cozy Cincinnati ballpark.DowngradeBailey Ober, SP, Twins: It might seem strange to downgrade a starting pitcher with a credible 3.92 ERA and 1.097 WHIP, but Ober’s been performing over his head — his FIP checks in at 4.49. It’s strange to see a pitcher of his size (6-foot-9) throwing a fastball below average velocity, and this year the heater checks in at a piddly 88.5 mph, down 1.8 mph from last year. He’s always been somewhat homer-prone, his strikeouts have been below code for two years and even the walks are rising this season. I don’t trust Ober to stay in the mixed-league conversation.Jack Flaherty, SP, Tigers: There are plenty of reasons for Detroit’s poor 2026 start, with Flaherty near the top of the list. His walk rate is bloated, his swinging-strike rate is down almost two percent, and he’s getting the lowest ground-ball rate of his career. And balls in play are no fun in Detroit, where the Tigers might have the worst defense in baseball.Matt McLain, 2B, Reds: I wanted to be optimistic when McLain briefly got back into the leadoff spot for the Reds, but the appointment didn’t last. Despite a positive walk rate and good pitch-recognition skills, he’s down to a .198/.296/.326 slash and his hard-hit profile is mediocre. There’s a tiny bit of bad luck with the batted events, but a .230 expected average still doesn’t play when it’s tied to a .378 expected slugging. The Reds have plenty of infield options — and Noelvi Marte is crushing in the minors — so I wouldn’t be surprised if McLain lost his roster spot soon.Updated rest-of-season top-250 rankings (as of May 26)

NFL, Brian Flores's lawyers issue comments following Supreme Court's decision
On Tuesday, the Supreme Court declined to accept the NFL's appeal in the case brought by Vikings defensive coordinator Brian Flores (and Steve Wilks and Ray Horton). The decision allows his case to proceed in court — and, in theory, to culminate with a public trial. Both sides have issued comments in the aftermath of the Supreme Court's ruling.“We respect the Supreme Court’s decision not to grant review," a league spokesperson said. "Regardless of the forum, we are fully prepared to defend ourselves as this matter proceeds."Said Flores's lawyers: “We are pleased that the Supreme Court declined to accept the NFL’s appeal. The NFL must now accept that its commissioner cannot be the arbitrator over discrimination claims against the league and its teams. We look forward to litigating these claims in court.”Obviously, the league wants the forum to be its in-house arbitration process. It keeps things secret, and it tips the scales of justice in the league's favor. But, no, the NFL won't suddenly surrender. It will aggressively challenge Flores at every turn, with the goal of securing a victory without having to take the case to trial. When will that happen? It could take months. Maybe years. After all, it took nearly 52 months to get the case past the threshold question of whether the claims will be resolved in court or in arbitration.

Andoni Iraola under discussion as FSG considered Arne Slot sack decision
Andoni Iraola under discussion as FSG considered Arne Slot sack decisionIt’s been a season to forget for Arne Slot and Liverpool. The 47-year-old got off to the best possible start as the Reds’ head coach - winning the 2024/25 Premier League title. But it all went south quickly for the Dutchman - despite a summer transfer spend of £450m last summer. The Anfield side ended up fifth - squeaking into the Champions League on the last day of the season. Despite the club’s collective and individual poor form across the campaign Liverpool decision-makers are expected to stick with Slot.Under contract until 2027 the former Feyenoord boss looks certain to be in place for the 2026/27 campaign at least. His power has been solidified in recent days with the news that Etienne Reijnen - a former Feyenoord coach - will join him on Merseyside.Liverpool have been steadfast in their support for Slot throughout a difficult season - sending out the message that no change in the dugout was being considered. An end-of-season review was always on the cards - but Slot’s prospects appear a lot better now that Champions League football has been secured.Andoni Iraola was in the frame for LFC arrivalNonetheless the club did conduct their due diligence on potential coaching appointments earlier in the season. That’s according to a new report in TEAMtalk - which claims Liverpool considered hiring Andoni Iraola. The Spaniard is set to leave Bournemouth this summer with his contract expiring - but it has emerged that he was on the list for Richard Hughes and FSG during the 2025/26 campaign.“Liverpool did assess alternative managerial situations during the season as part of their wider strategic review,” the report states.“The club discussed the possibility of making a move for Andoni Iraola amid the Bournemouth boss’ outstanding work on the south coast.“However, despite admiring Iraola’s profile, Liverpool are not currently expected to open talks with the Spaniard.”LFC stick with SlotAnother name in the frame to arrive was Xabi Alonso - who has since agreed to join Chelsea. The club in this instance passed on the opportunity to hire Alonso - who won the German double with Jeremie Frimpong and Florian Wirtz at Bayer Leverkusen in 2024.“The Reds also chose against making any serious attempt to rival Chelsea for Xabi Alonso, despite the Bayer Leverkusen boss being admired internally at Anfield for a considerable period,” the report reads. And so while plenty of uncertainty has been prevalent around Slot’s position as the Reds have struggled in multiple competitions he will be the man to take charge next term.“The internal stance at Anfield has always been that Slot would be given further time – provided Liverpool secured Champions League qualification,” the report reads.

Michigan recruit Louis Esposito shines at camp
You know things are going well for Michigan football recruiting, not only when it is setting a torrid pace with getting top-flight prospects to commit, but when even those ranked closer to the bottom of the class start making strong impressions.247Sports has longtime Wolverines pledge Louis Esposito, the three-star interior offensive lineman from Saline, Michigan, as the second-lowest-rated commit in 2027. Rivals is slightly better, putting him at third from the bottom of the current 15-member class. Even so, Esposito is starting to make a strong impression on the national scene. The son of former Michigan defensive line coach Lou Esposito is the longest-tenured commit in the class, and despite being ranked by Rivals as the No. 647 player in the country, he impressed Rivals' Allen Trieu at the UA Next Chicago camp this weekend -- so much so that he was listed as the third-best performer. (subscription required)3. OL Louis Esposito – Michigan commitA Michigan commit, Esposito has made great strides this off-season. He’s also coming back from an injury that kept him from the last few camps, so it was good to see him healthy and competing. He looks great physically, measuring in at a true 6-foot-5, and carrying his 290 pounds very well. He’s a tough competitor who we knew was physical on Friday night, but seeing him pass set in a shorts and T-shirt setting really give some context to his athleticism as well. He repped a lot at left tackle, which is not where we think he will play in college, but it was good to see him be able to do that. He won position MVP and had some very dominant reps against good competition. It will remain to be seen if his standout performance will do anything to affect his ranking, helping him move up. But even if not, that at least shows that those who aren't as highly-rated as players such as quarterback Kamden Lopati or wide receiver Quentin Burrell very well could make a splash once they arrive in Ann Arbor. This article originally appeared on Wolverines Wire: Michigan pledge Louis Esposito earns high marks from UA camp performance

Osaka sparkles in golden French Open outfit
After walking out in an all-black outfit, Osaka revealed a shimmering gold tennis dress underneath [Getty Images]Another Grand Slam, another iconic outfit delivered by Naomi Osaka. The Japanese player continued her tradition of jaw-dropping looks at the majors with an outfit that sparkled like "the Eiffel Tower at night" at the French Open.Osaka arrived on Court Suzanne Lenglen with a black corset and cascading pleated skirt that swept dramatically over the red clay.Underneath the moody ensemble, Osaka wore a glittering gold tennis dress, with the sequins reflecting the scorching Paris sun.The four-time Grand Slam champion also shone on court as she beat Germany's Laura Siegemund 6-3 7-6 (7-3) to reach the second round.Asked about her inspiration for the outfit, the 28-year-old said: "Funny enough, you know the Eiffel Tower at night when its sparkly? I think I look like that a little bit."Watching Osaka's entrance live on TNT Sports, top seed Aryna Sabalenka said: "This is sparkling. I love it. I love that she is expressing herself and feels confident."That's the beauty of the fashion world, there's space for anything and I love that she's bringing it on court."Osaka made a statement as she walked onto court with a Kevin Germanier-designed outfit [Getty Images]Osaka joked afterwards that she had worried she would not be allowed to play in the dress."When I first saw it, I felt like I look like the Eiffel Tower at night time when it's bright," she said."Then I actually got a little worried because when the sun hits the dress, it reflects a lot, so I was a little scared the umpire was going to kick me off the court."I got two back-up, normal dresses - thankfully I didn't have to wear them."Gold sequins shimmered in the Paris sun as Osaka faced Laura Siegemund in the first round [Getty Images]The outer black pieces were designed by Kevin Germanier, who is known for his sustainable approach to fashion, while the gold dress was custom made by Nike."Sometimes people say athletes are in show business or entertainers or whatever," Osaka said."For me, Grand Slam walk-ons are the only time that I possibly feel like I'm an entertainer."At the Australian Open in January, Osaka made a statement entrance in a jellyfish-inspired outfit which she dedicated to her two-year-old daughter Shai.Since the birth of her daughter in 2023, Osaka has re-established herself in the world's top 20 and she reached the semi-finals at the US Open in September. The former world number one will face Croatia's Donna Vekic in the next round.Other iconic Grand Slam outfitsHow are French Open stars coping with Paris 'heat dome'?Norrie's French Open ends with rare retirement Sabalenka ignoring pressure with top ranking on line

Have Rangers just signed Scotland's World Cup number nine?
Lawrence Shankland has scored four times in limited Scotland game time [Getty Images]Rangers' capture of Heart of Midlothian captain Lawrence Shankland could prove to be the most significant move of the summer transfer window, but have the Ibrox club also signed the man who will be leading the forward line for Scotland at this summer's World Cup?Scotland have long struggled to produce prolific strikers at international level and yet the man who bagged 72 goals in 135 games for Hearts has found himself no more than a bit-part player for the national team under Steve Clarke. After another stellar season in which his 21 goals spearheaded Hearts to an extraordinary Scottish Premiership title challenge only to be pipped in a final-day shootout with Celtic, there is growing evidence that Shankland should be the man tasked with leading the Scotland attack when they kick-off their World Cup campaign against Haiti in Boston on 14 June.Steven Naismith has worked with Shankland during his spell as Hearts' head coach and now as Scotland assistant and thinks Shankland "is at the best he's ever been at now at 30-years-old".McTominay backs 'great man' Clarke for Scotland stayShankland could be Rangers captain after 'coup' - HendryListen: How will Shankland fare at Ibrox?Naismith admits: "He's took a bit of time to get to that point, but in the last two or three years, his progression's been better than probably most in the squad. "So he's had challenges and moments where it's not been good, but he's rebounded and come back, had another fantastic season."Going into the World Cup, he's in a brilliant frame of mind to actually not just be here but be a big player for us in this World Cup."Just four of Shankland's 18 Scotland appearances have been starts, with the rest coming from the bench. He has scored four goals for his country, the most notable coming against Denmark on that magical night in November when World Cup qualification was secured at a raucous Hampden Park.Clarke famously puts his faith in players that have been there and done it for him before and not too many Scotland fans would be shocked, regardless of current form, to see Lyndon Dykes and/or Che Adams favoured over Shankland, George Hirst and Ross Stewart to start against Haiti. If the Scotland head coach was minded to delve into the statistics, though, he would find some added weight for Shankland's case for inclusion.A goal involvement on average every 104.8 minutes at international level compares favourably with the other strikers in the Scotland squad. Dykes averages a goal involvement every 205.4 minutes, Adams every 209 minutes and Hirst every 299 minutes. Stewart has only amassed 34 minutes of action in his two Scotland appearances and has not managed a goal, or an assist. For a long time, Shankland was viewed as simply a goal-scorer. Not a bad reputation to have, but the sense was he was lacking in the other areas that Clarke in particular values so highly – work rate, occupying a defence, physicality and link-up play.Over the last few seasons as Hearts captain has emerged a more rounded Shankland - a more complete striker and an effective leader."I first came across him as a forward here when I was a player and he was a finisher," Naismith says."Not real game knowledge or intelligence or a real work rate. And I think, when I then worked with him as a coach, that is a massive change."His game intelligence and his finesse, it's top level. And he's not only done it when he's been in a team that's been winning 3-0. He's done it in big, big moments."Another part that probably goes unnoticed is, his leadership skills are excellent. I remember when they played Holland (in 2024), he had a chance to shoot and he passed to big Scotty McTominay. I was at Hearts at the time and I texted him saying, 'at Hearts, you shoot there'."But he probably wasn't comfortable in this environment then. Now, I think he's at the point where [he thinks], 'no, I'll do what I need to do to contribute for the team'."World Cup fixtures and group standingsHow to watch the World Cup on the BBCEverything you need to know about the World Cup

Arsenal Are Locked In A Three-Way Battle For This West Ham United Midfielder: Should Arteta Snap Him Up?
Arsenal Are Locked In A Three-Way Battle For This West Ham United Midfielder: Should Arteta Snap Him Up?In a recent report, Fichajes stated that Arsenal are locked in a three-way battle for West Ham United midfielder Mateus Fernandes. It has been claimed that the Gunners would have to compete with Paris Saint-Germain and Manchester United in the race to land the Portuguese midfield ace this off-season.Fernandes’ Impressive Rise In English FootballThe 21-year-old has managed to shine at times in the Premier League despite failing to help West Ham avoid relegation this season. He has done well to put in a run of eye-catching displays for the Hammers at the centre of the park. Fernandes has netted three goals and secured four assists in 36 matches for the East London club in this campaign on all fronts. The Portuguese talent is currently among the most gifted young midfielders in the Premier League. Therefore, the Gunners would do well to win the race for his services in this summer transfer period. His current deal at the London Stadium will run out in the summer of 2030, which could make it tough for Arsenal to sign him on a cut-price deal this off-season.LONDON, ENGLAND – MAY 10: Mateus Fernandes of West Ham United reacts after missing a chance during the Premier League match between West Ham United and Arsenal at London Stadium on May 10, 2026 in London, England. (Photo by Alex Pantling/Getty Images)Should Arsenal Boss Mikel Arteta Snap Fernandes Up?Fernandes can get stuck in with some solid tackles and can make the odd interception for his team. He doesn’t mind clearing his lines when the opposition are on the front foot and is a good dribbler with the ball at his feet. The Portuguese sensation has got the eye to play some killer passes in and around the opponent’s penalty area and can shoot the ball with power from long range. Fernandes is primarily a central midfielder but can also function as a defensive midfielder or as an attacking midfielder if needed. He is already quite familiar with the Premier League and won’t take much time to settle into life at Arsenal. We can expect Fernandes to add more quality and depth to Mikel Arteta’s midfield. He is good enough to fight for a regular first-team spot at the Emirates Stadium in the coming seasons. At 21, Fernandes has got the potential to be a future star in the Premier League, which makes him a great option for the Gunners to consider this summer. He will even help the North London club compete across all competitions over the next decade. Therefore, Arteta should focus on going all out to snap Fernandes up in this summer transfer window.

Women's College World Series: Inside the epic home run race between Megan Grant, Kendall Wells and Jordan Woolery
Jordan Woolery, Megan Grant and Kendall Wells put on a show this season. (Hassan Ahmad/Yahoo Sports illustration)Hall of Fame head coach Patty Gasso knew the type of fresh-faced heavy hitters in her dugout this season, yet one stood out above the rest even then. “Kendall Wells is a name you’re going to remember, and you’re going to remember from the first game,” Gasso said at Oklahoma media day in January. “She’s a solid catcher, [a] big strong freshman, and swings like some of the greats in this program.” Wells backed up her head coach’s claim on opening day by sending one to the left field fences at Arizona State in her third career at-bat. By the end of February, the freshman hit 15 home runs in 19 games. She finished her first season in Norman with 39 blasts after eight-time champion Oklahoma missed out on its first WCWS since 2015. A similar home run chase began playing out in Los Angeles, where senior Megan Grant smashed 14 home runs in 20 games in February. She hit three in her fifth game of the season. Her previous high was 26 as a junior. And senior teammate Jordan Woolery wasn’t far behind, hitting 11 in the month that set off a season-long offensive surge for NCAA Division I softball. The home run race, largely between Wells and Grant, took over the sport within the last month as the 31-year-old record held by Arizona’s Laura Espinoza, who smashed 37 for Arizona in 1995, eventually fell. It had been challenged by four players since 2021, but never crossed until both Grant and Wells did so this month. Woolery could also pass the mark this week.Grant kept a sizeable distance in the race over the season’s first two weeks, until Wells hit five in five games over a three-day span from Feb. 19-21. She maintained the lead as pressure mounted until opponents began pitching around her, and she went homerless for six games at the end of the season. Grant was the first to break the record and is one short of tying Stacey Nuveman for the UCLA career record of 90. The catcher played from 1997 to 2022, winning a national championship in 1999. Megan Grant made college softball history this season by smashing a 31-year-old record. (Gina Ferazzi / Los Angeles Times via Getty Images)Gina Ferazzi via Getty ImagesThe heavy hitters began trading the lead over the first two weeks of March. They knotted at 16, 17, 19 and 21, before Wells took a sizable lead in the race. Here’s a look at their pivotal moments en route to resetting the NCAA Division I single-season home run record, which Grant can continue to push higher over the season’s final week. March 15: Wells 21, Grant 21 The two homers Wells hit in sustained winds around 30 miles per hour at home against Auburn snapped a three-game drought. They put her total at 21, a mark Grant reached on the same day with a fourth-inning, two-RBI homer at Rutgers. Grant was three behind at 18. It was the final time the two leaders would end the day tied in the race until May. That’s because Wells began to pull away. March 31: Wells 27, Grant 23The freshman hit a home run in six of Oklahoma’s final nine games in March to finish with an NCAA-best 27. The three-RBI shot on the final day of the month broke the SEC record for home runs in a single season. It was her 37th game, and helped lift Oklahoma to its 26th run-rule win. Grant endured a six-game home run skid that lingered into April. Four of those games were between March 22, when she had 23 homers to Wells’ 24, through March 31. But she had 8 hits, 3 RBIs and 3 walks during the stretch. Woolery, who was three back of their 21 on the same day, hit only two more the rest of the month to end with 20. THROUGH MARCH: Wells 27, Grant 23, Woolery 20Grant hit home runs in each of the three games at home against Kentucky to open April, extending her home run streak to five games. The Wildcats are the only team to give up a home run to Wells in each of their matchups. It gave Oklahoma the 2-1 lead. But the Bulldogs tied it at 6-6 in the sixth and came back from a four-run deficit to win, 11-9, and put Oklahoma on the brink of elimination. It was Wells’ sixth two-home run game of the season, and first since March 21. She had a career-high four hits, going 4-of-4 until fouling out in the seventh inning.Outside of Grant, Wells and Woolery, three players hit 27 home runs each, the closest competitors to the leading trio. With Wells, who played fewer games at Oklahoma than the UCLA duo, now out of the chase, it comes down to Grant and Woolery as UCLA prepares to face Alabama on Thursday. Grant is after the program’s all-time mark, and setting the single-season number as high as possible with heavy hitters coming up. Wells has three seasons to break the single mark. Woolery can become the third player this year to break the previous record.

Roberts Stays Confident in Bullpen After Scoreless Streak Ends
Despite the end of the Los Angeles Dodgers’ bullpen’s 38-inning scoreless streak, manager Dave Roberts has faith they’ll continue performing at a high level.“All good things are meant to come to an end,” Roberts said. “And we’ll start another one.”The Dodgers had the longest streak since Cleveland strung together 38.2 scoreless innings in 2017, and were just 7.2 innings shy of the all-time record set by the Detroit Tigers in 1962. No Dodgers bullpen had maintained a longer streak since the pitcher’s mound moved to its current distance in 1893, per the Elias Sports Bureau. The Dodgers bullpen has a 36-inning scoreless streak That’s their longest bullpen scoreless innings streak since the mound was moved to its current distance (1893)And the longest by any bullpen since 2017 CLE (38 2/3 IP)h/t @EliasSportshttps://t.co/qMh9zhww8r— Sarah Langs (@SlangsOnSports) May 24, 2026The Dodgers’ streak came to an end in the top of the seventh inning in Monday’s contest, when reliever Kyle Hurt—who had been nearly unstoppable during the Dodgers’ run—allowed a 431-foot bomb to Rockies shortstop Ezequiel Tovar on his second pitch of the evening.Prior to that homer, Hurt had allowed just one run all season and hadn’t let a runner cross home plate in his last 14 appearances.Roberts has plenty of positives to take away from the game as well, as the remainder of his bullpen only allowed one baserunner for the rest of the game.“(The bullpen) got another two (scoreless) innings under our belt after that homer,” Roberts said. “But yeah, Kyle’s been great for us. Tovar hit a changeup. It was good to see Kyle come back and get that next hitter.”May 12, 2026; Los Angeles, California, USA; Los Angeles Dodgers manager Dave Roberts (30) reacts as he walks to the mound for a pitching change against the San Francisco Giants during the seventh inning at Dodger Stadium. Mandatory Credit: Jayne Kamin-Oncea-Imagn ImagesWhere Does the Dodgers’ Bullpen Rank Among the Rest of MLB?38 innings of scoreless baseball will do a lot for a team’s season-long statistics, and the Dodgers aren’t an exception. They currently have the best bullpen ERA in baseball, and are the only team in MLB whose relievers have a collective ERA below 3.00. On top of that, the 2.8 fWAR the bullpen has produced is second only to the San Diego Padres, who have the highest-fWAR reliever in MLB: Mason Miller.Since the Dodgers’ streak started May 13, they have lost just two games and won 10. Their strong bullpen directly correlates to their success, and they’ll hope the singular run they gave up won’t make too large of an impact.LA has a chance to start a new scoreless streak in their second game against the Colorado Rockies, which comes Tuesday at 7:10 p.m. PT.Do you think the Dodgers can break their own record this season?

NFL Writer Floats Surprising Trade Idea Involving Detroit Lions CB Terrion Arnold
The Detroit Lions are entering the 2026 season with one of the deepest secondaries they have had in years, but one NFL writer believes that depth could eventually lead to a surprising trade conversation involving Terrion Arnold. It is the kind of idea that immediately grabs attention. And for many Lions fans, it will probably sound ridiculous at first.Still, Pro Football & Sports Network writer Jacob Infante recently suggested Arnold as the one player Detroit could potentially trade before the season begins if the organization decides to capitalize on its crowded cornerback room. Why Terrion Arnold Was Mentioned as a Trade CandidateInfante’s argument centers around production, depth, and potential value.“After showing some encouraging flashes as a rookie, Terrion Arnold regressed in 2025,” Infante wrote. “Part of that came down to his playing in just eight games, but his PFSN CB Impact Score dropped from 76.2 to 72.4, and he has only one interception in 24 career games.”Infante also pointed toward Detroit’s growing competition at cornerback with players like D.J. Reed, Rock Ya-Sin, and rookie Keith Abney II all competing for meaningful roles.“If enough of those guys perform well enough, Arnold could net the Lions some good draft capital,” Infante added. On the surface, there is at least some logic there. But context matters. The Numbers Do Not Tell the Entire StoryArnold’s first two NFL seasons have admittedly been uneven.During his rookie campaign, penalties became a recurring issue as he adjusted to NFL speed and physicality. Then in 2025, injuries interrupted his momentum just as he appeared to be settling into a more comfortable rhythm defensively.Still, there were clear signs of growth. After a rough opening week last season, Arnold quietly played some very strong football before injuries cut his year short. According to Mike Payton of A to Z Sports, Arnold allowed a passer rating of just 52.7 after Week 1 as his confidence and consistency improved. That matters because cornerback development is rarely linear in the NFL.Some of the league’s best corners struggled early before eventually becoming high level starters once technique, discipline, and confidence caught up to their physical talent. The Lions Still Believe in Arnold’s UpsideEverything Detroit has done this offseason suggests the organization still believes Arnold can become a foundational player in the secondary. The Lions are not lacking alternatives at cornerback, but that does not necessarily mean they are looking to move on from a former first round pick entering just his third NFL season. In fact, the opposite may be true.Detroit likely views competition as a way to accelerate Arnold’s development rather than replace him entirely. Going against talented receivers like Amon-Ra St. Brown and Jameson Williams during practices should only continue sharpening his game.If Arnold stays healthy and continues cleaning up the penalties, the Lions could suddenly have one of the more intriguing young cornerback groups in the NFC.Trading Arnold Right Now Would Feel PrematureThere is also a bigger organizational reality here.General manager Brad Holmes has consistently preached patience with young players, especially premium draft investments. Detroit’s front office understands that development at cornerback can take time.Moving Arnold now would essentially mean selling before fully learning what he can become. That would feel extremely risky considering the flashes he has already shown.Unless Detroit unexpectedly becomes overloaded with elite cornerback play this summer, it is difficult imagining the Lions seriously entertaining trade conversations involving Arnold before the season. At least not yet.Because if Arnold takes the next step in 2026, this conversation may disappear entirely.

The Carolina Panthers kicked off the 2026 edition of organized team activities without their top pass catcher in uniform.Second-year wide receiver Tetairoa McMillan did not fully participate during Tuesday's practice session in Charlotte. Head coach Dave Canales, who spoke with reporters after the outing, was asked about McMillan's status."He had some foot soreness," Canales stated. "It wasn't anything alarming. But again, at this point, we don't want things to kind of build up and turn into some type of nagging, chronic type of deal."Carolina selected McMillan with the eighth overall pick of the 2025 NFL Draft. Manny Fernandez, key part to the 1972 perfect Dolphins season, dies at 79
MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. (AP) — Manny Fernandez, a two-time Super Bowl-winning defensive lineman with the Miami Dolphins who was an anchor during the team's undefeated season in 1972, has died, the team announced Tuesday. He was 79. No cause of death was announced by the team.Fernandez played his entire eight-year NFL career with the Dolphins and was a key pillar on Miami's “No-Name Defense," which helped the team reach consecutive Super Bowls from 1971-1973, including back-to-back Super Bowl wins in 1972 and 1973.“We are deeply saddened by the passing of Manny Fernandez,” the Dolphins said in a statement, “a member of the 1972 perfect team, a two-time Super Bowl champion, ring of honor member and an anchor of the Dolphins' legendary ‘No-Name Defense.’ His consistent and selfless contributions on the field were instrumental to the Dolphins' success throughout the early 1970s, particularly in the team's three consecutive Super Bowl appearances, in which he produced some of the most memorable defensive performances in the history of the game.”Fernandez was dominant during the Dolphins' Super Bowl win over Washington following their undefeated 1972 season. That team also included stars such as Bob Griese, Nick Buoniconti and Larry Csonka. An undrafted free agent out of Utah in 1968, Fernandez was inducted into the Dolphins' Ring of Honor in 2014.“Our thoughts are with his family, loved ones and teammates as we remember one of the best players in Dolphins history,” the team said. ___AP NFL: https://apnews.com/hub/NFL

Mike Maignan: Chelsea have Man United to worry about in move for French superstar
Mike Maignan: Chelsea have Man United to worry about in move for French superstar Chelsea have been told that Manchester United are one of the clubs they have to worry about in their pursuit of the dream Robert Sanchez upgrade.Chelsea have for a while pursued AC Milan goalkeeper Mike Maignan. The French star, who oozes experience, leadership and world-class quality, has been packaged as a dream Chelsea signing since last summer, as per vocal Chelsea commentator George Benson. While he signed a new long-term deal in the winter, Milan’s struggles, which saw them miss out on Champions League football, could yet pave the way for an exit.Mike Maignan linked with a move away from AC MilanFor their disastrous end to the season, key figures behind the scenes have already parted ways with the Rossoneri, and players could follow. Of which, on Maignan, Calciomercato reports:“Mike Maignan’s future could lie far from AC Milan.”The report goes on to explain that Massimiliano Allegri’s departure as Milan’s head coach could see Maignan push for an exit. On where he might move, it is claimed:“Chelsea are still on the trail of the French goalkeeper, ready to make an offer for him, but options leading to Bayern Munich and Manchester United cannot be ruled out.”As keen as Chelsea are on signing a goalkeeper of Maignan’s calibre, United need such a signing just as badly. With Altay Bayindir and Andre Onana both likely to leave United this summer, Senne Lammens needs serious competition.Radek Vitek could fill that role, but it is unlikely he will stay. United will probably send him out on loan again to a more competitive side to further his development. His warming the bench alongside Lammens makes little sense, especially given they are age-mates.Maignan a better Lammens alternativeIt makes perfect sense, then, for United to sign an experienced goalkeeper like Maignan to serve as Lammens’ alternative. The 6’3″ French stopper could certainly play a huge role in helping Lammens develop into the world-class goalkeeper he has the potential to become.Without Champions League football, Chelsea have a clear disadvantage in this race. Hopefully, United can offer Maignan a convincing role in their project, one compelling enough to see him snub Munich for Manchester.Featured image Maurizio Lagana via Getty Imagesonline pollsThe Peoples Person has been one of the world’s leading Man United news sites for over a decade. Manchester United Are Among The Clubs Hoping To Sign This Bundesliga Winger: Should Carrick Move In For Him?
Manchester United Are Among The Clubs Hoping To Sign This Bundesliga Winger: Should Carrick Move In For Him?In a recent post on X, journalist Ben Jacobs revealed that Manchester United are among the clubs hoping to sign Red Bull Leipzig winger Yan Diomande. It is believed that the Red Devils would have to rival Paris Saint-Germain and Liverpool in the race to sign the Ivory Coast prospect in this summer transfer window.Diomande’s Impressive Rise In German FootballDiomande has enjoyed an impressive campaign at the German club after he produced a series of impressive performances for them on the offensive end of the field. The 19-year-old deserves a ton of credit for scoring 13 goals and picking up ten assists in 36 appearances for RB Leipzig this season in all competitions. The Ivory Coast talent is currently among the best wide players in the Bundesliga. Hence, it is no wonder that the Red Devils are showing interest in recruiting him this off-season.His current contract at the German club will expire in the summer of 2030, which could make it difficult for Man United to snap him up on a cut-price deal in this upcoming transfer period.LEIPZIG, GERMANY – MAY 09: Yan Diomande of RB Leipzig looks on during the Bundesliga match between RB Leipzig and FC St. Pauli at Red Bull Arena on May 09, 2026 in Leipzig, Germany. (Photo by Maja Hitij/Getty Images)Should Manchester United Boss Michael Carrick Move In For Diomande?Diomande is a great dribbler with the ball and can make some dangerous runs with it out in the wide areas. He has got the pace to cause some problems for his marker out on the flanks. The Ivory Coast sensation can strike the ball with venom from long range and has proven that he can contribute by scoring and creating a lot of important goals for his team in the final third. Diomande is primarily a left-winger but can also play as a right-sided wide player if required. However, it remains to be seen whether he can adapt to the physical side and high intensity of the Premier League if the Red Devils manage to land him later this year.We can expect Diomande to inject more pace and goals into Man United head coach Michael Carrick’s frontline. He has what it takes to compete for a regular first-team place at Old Trafford next season. At 19, Diomande has got the potential to be a generational talent and could be a success story at the Theatre of Dreams in the long run. Thus, Carrick would be wise to move in for him in this summer transfer period.

Manchester City Have Set Their Sights On This Chelsea Midfielder: Dream Signing For The Mancunian Club?
Manchester City Have Set Their Sights On This Chelsea Midfielder: Dream Signing For The Mancunian Club?In a recent report, Fichajes mentioned that Manchester City have set their sights on Chelsea midfielder Enzo Fernandez this summer. It has been claimed that the Mancunian giants are keen on getting a deal done for the Argentine playmaker in this upcoming transfer window.Fernandez’s Impressive Form In Premier League FootballFernandez has enjoyed another solid campaign at Chelsea as he has been responsible for putting in a run of impressive performances for them in the middle of the park. The 25-year-old has found the back of the net 15 times and earned seven assists in 54 appearances for the Blues this season across all competitions. The Argentina international is currently one of the most consistent central midfielders in the Premier League. Therefore, Man City would do well to get a deal over the line for him in this summer transfer window. His current contract at Stamford Bridge will run out in the summer of 2032. Hence, the Mancunian club would have to make a massive offer if they are serious about recruiting Fernandez this off-season.LONDON, ENGLAND – MAY 19: Enzo Fernandez of Chelsea arrives at the stadium prior to the Premier League match between Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur at Stamford Bridge on May 19, 2026 in London, England. (Photo by Shaun Botterill/Getty Images)Will Fernandez Be A Dream Signing For Manchester City?Fernandez doesn’t mind getting stuck in with some solid tackles to make life tough for the opposition at the centre of the park. He can earn the ball back for his team at the centre of the park and doesn’t mind putting his foot through the ball when needed. The Argentine talent can strike the ball with power and precision from long range and has got the vision to create some decent chances in the final third. Fernandez is full of energy and running at the centre of the park. He mainly operates as a box-to-box midfielder but can also play as a defensive midfielder or in the number ten position if asked to do so. He has already got some experience in the Premier League and won’t take much time to adjust to life at Man City.Fernandez would add more quality and depth to the Mancunian club’s midfield. He has what it takes to nail down a regular first-team place at the Etihad Stadium in the coming years. At 25, Fernandez has his peak years ahead of him, which makes him a great option for Man City to pursue in this summer transfer period. He might even help the Mancunian giants compete for some major trophies in the future. With all things considered, Man City should focus on trying everything they can to acquire his services later this year.

The Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association boys and girls state hockey tournaments will have a new home for the next three seasons. In a press release May 26, the WIAA announced a three-year agreement with the recently built LEGACY20 Arena at DeForest Yards to be the new home of the state tournament, effective in 2027.“Moving state hockey to the brand new LEGACY20 at DeForest Yards Arena marks an exhilarating new chapter for WIAA state hockey, bringing a world-class facility to our teams and fans,” WIAA executive director Stephanie Hauser said in the release. “We are thrilled that the incredible team that we’ve worked with the past four years from Bob Suter’s LEGACY20 Arena is managing this new venue, ensuring the exceptional dedication and support foundational to the success of this championship event."Built in 2025, LEGACY20 Arena is a 3,000-spectator capacity facility equipped with two 200-foot by 85-foot ice surfaces. The main indoor surface will be used for state tournament games, but the facility also has a covered outdoor ice surface for use during the winter months. Other amenities of the facility include a state-of-the-art sound and lighting system, new scoreboard, high-definition videoboard, media and broadcast areas, 12 locker rooms and four concession stands, according to the release.President and CEO of LEGACY20 Andrew Joudrey said in the release the new venue will provide for memorable moments in the years ahead for the state tournament."We are thrilled to host the WIAA boys and girls state hockey tournaments, and we believe LEGACY20 Arena at DeForest Yards will provide a great atmosphere for the players and coaches,” Joudrey said. “With a capacity of 3,000, blended between bucket seating, viewing decks and suites, the venue will offer a first-class hospitality experience for the fans."Boys and girls hockey teams and their fans will have the first opportunity to experience the facility hosting state tournament action at the 2027 boys and girls state hockey tournaments March 4-6, 2027.VOTE NOW: Vote for Piggly Wiggly high school athlete of the week for May 18-23The move represents the third primary venue that has hosted the state boys and girls hockey tournaments. Veterans Memorial Coliseum at the Alliant Energy Center in Madison hosted boys hockey from 1971 until 2022. The only exceptions during that stretch were the 1974 and 1975 seasons when it was held in Green Bay, as well as the 2021 season when it was held in Wisconsin Rapids during the COVID-19 pandemic. In 2023, the state tournament was relocated to Bob Suter's LEGACY20 Arena (formerly known as the Capitol Ice Arena) in Middleton from 2023 to 2026. The girls state hockey tournament has been held in conjunction with the boys since the WIAA began sanctioning it in 2002.This article originally appeared on Milwaukee Journal Sentinel: WIAA to host state hockey at new LEGACY20 Arena at DeForest Yards

The Lakers’ Rohan Ramadas Hire Is Both Encouraging and Concerning
The Lakers’ offseason has officially begun. The Los Angeles Lakers hired former Pelicans vice president of strategy and operations Rohan Ramadas as an assistant general manager under Rob Pelinka. This is the first move in the Lakers’ front-office restructuring under new ownership. Rob Pelinka told ESPN that Ramadas is filling one of two assistant general manager roles, and his responsibilities will mirror his role in New Orleans. He will focus on salary cap, analytics and data. The other, still-open role will focus on scouting and player development.Despite holding a master’s degree in aerospace engineering and spending over a decade with the Aerospace Corporation, Ramadas has established himself in the NBA. He joined the Pelicans’ front office as senior director of analytics and innovation and earned a promotion less than a year later. The Los Angeles Lakers are hiring former New Orleans Pelicans vice president of strategy and operations Rohan Ramadas as an assistant general manager under president Rob Pelinka, sources tell me and @mcten. The Lakers have interviewed candidates to bolster their front office.— Shams Charania (@ShamsCharania) May 25, 2026Good Sign or Bad Sign? This is a pivotal offseason for the Lakers. LeBron James is undecided about where he will play next year, Austin Reaves is expecting a contract extension and Rui Hachimura may have played himself into a payday. With so many questions looming, it’s encouraging to see the Lakers taking their front-office restructuring seriously. Hopefully, the Ramadas hire is a precursor to a busy offseason in L.A, both on and off the court. But the source of the Lakers’ first front-office hire is discouraging. The Pelicans went 47-117 over the last two seasons and, because of their latest big move, don’t even have a first-round pick in this year’s draft.Last year, the Pelicans included this year’s draft pick in a draft-night deal that allowed them to select Derik Queen. They landed the player they wanted, but it cost them a lottery pick in one of the league’s most talented drafts. This decision is the latest example of the Pelicans’ poor reputation as a franchise. Hopefully, it isn’t a reflection of what Ramadas will bring to the Lakers’ front office. The post The Lakers’ Rohan Ramadas Hire Is Both Encouraging and Concerning appeared first on The Lead.

Derwin James extension: Joe Hortiz sounds off on future with Chargers
Chargers general manager Joe Hortiz made it clear about the importance of retaining safety Derwin James. Speaking on the Up & Adams show, Hortiz emphasized that keeping James, who is entering the final year of his current contract, in powder blue long-term sits at the very top of the organization’s agenda.“It’s high. It’s high,” Hortiz said when asked about extension talks with James. Hortiz revealed that during his time with the Ravens, James was the top player on the Ravens' 2018 draft board. “I said to him when I first met him, ‘Gosh, you should’ve been a Raven… but I’m glad you’re not because I’m here now.’”Hortiz heaped praise on James, comparing his impact to quarterback Justin Herbert. “He’s such a special, special leader and person,” Hortiz said. “The talent is real… but the leader and motivator and energy he gives to everybody within the organization, throughout the entire building, it’s so unique. One of the best I’ve ever been around in terms of leadership, talent and character.”James has been the heartbeat of the Chargers’ defense since being drafted in the first round out of Florida State. As the ultimate chess piece capable of lining up anywhere on the field, James has compiled 589 combined tackles, 19.0 sacks, 11 interceptions, and 7 forced fumbles since entering the NFL in 2018.This article originally appeared on Chargers Wire: Chargers GM Joe Hortiz says Derwin James is top extension priority

Trump administration proposes NDAs for federal employees to stop leaks
President Donald Trump, left, and Kevin Warsh arrive at a swearing-in ceremony for Warsh as Chairman of the Federal Reserve in the East Room of the White House, Friday, May 22, 2026, in Washington. (AP Photo/Alex Brandon)2026-05-26T17:17:36Z WASHINGTON (AP) — The Trump administration wants all current and future federal employees to sign non-disclosure agreements, part of a continuing crackdown on leaks to the media. The notice in the Federal Register from the Office of Personnel Management posted Tuesday asked for comment on a draft NDA to be used by federal agencies for “both new and existing employees.”“The form is intended to document Federal employees’ acknowledgment of, and agreement to comply with, current legal obligations to safeguard non-public, confidential, or proprietary information, created or obtained through their official duties, while expressly preserving the right to make disclosures authorized by law,” the notice said. The OPM noted “several recent instances” where internal agency communications related to rulemaking and policy development were disclosed without authorization. It also discussed specific instances in which federal employees at the FBI and the Department of Homeland Security disclosed information without authorization about planned immigration enforcement actions. In one case, the New York Times and Washington Post received unauthorized information on the U.S. raid on Venezuela this past January and delayed “publishing what they knew to avoid endangering U.S. troops,” the OPM request for comment said. Representatives for the New York Times and Washington Post did not immediately respond to a request for comment. Read More Ferreting out leaks that the administration deems harmful to its messaging has been a priority across multiple agencies since President Donald Trump returned to the White House. As part of that crackdown, the FBI in January seized the electronic devices of a Washington Post reporter, a move that alarmed media organizations and advocates of press freedom. One other notable incident occurred last year when dozens of reporters turned in their access badges at the Pentagon, rejecting new rules imposed by Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth that would leave journalists vulnerable to expulsion if they sought to report on information — classified or otherwise — that had not been approved by Hegseth for release. The American Federation of Government Employees did not immediately respond to requests for comment. 获取更多RSS:https://feedx.net https://feedx.site

Drew Allar needs to be Steelers’ main focus
INDIANAPOLIS, INDIANA - FEBRUARY 28: Drew Allar of the Penn State Nittany Lions throws a pass during the 2026 NFL Scouting Combine at Lucas Oil Stadium on February 28, 2026 in Indianapolis, Indiana. (Photo by Stacy Revere/Getty Images) | Getty Images The late great John Madden used to say that if you have two quarterbacks, you have none. Meaning that in a quarterback room, there will always naturally be a leader in the clubhouse that the team gravitates towards. The Pittsburgh Steelers made it clear and evident that they believe Drew Allar can be that next franchise quarterback when they drafted him in the third round of the 2026 NFL Draft. In doing so, they set themselves up for an interesting summer that will conclude with a decision being made at quarterback. Will they keep veteran backup Mason Rudolph or go with two quarterbacks who have a combined zero games of NFL experience to sit behind Aaron Rodgers in 2026 by keeping Will Howard? Considering Madden’s theory, along with how difficult it is to develop one quarterback, much less two, Allar should be the team’s sole focus in terms of young quarterbacks.Of course, there will be those who are on the other side and believe Howard should be QB2. And to be fair, it’s a strong argument to make. We know what Rudolph is, and Howard began OTAs by taking second-team reps. However, it’s far from a forgone conclusion that he makes the roster as some would suggest. He’s a sixth-round pick with an average arm, mid-tier tools, and didn’t take off at the collegiate level until he was surrounded by a swarm of NFL talent. This coaching staff isn’t the one who drafted him, and they used a valuable pick to take Allar three rounds earlier than Howard was taken. Additionally, we’ve seen the Steelers draft plenty of quarterbacks with more valuable draft capital than Howard whom they clearly had no long-term plans for, as Ben Roethlisberger was in place. Remember Omar Jacobs out of Bowling Green? Pittsburgh took him in the fifth round in 2006 – he never played a game. Dennis Dixon? Fifth-round selection in 2008, largely a third-stringer who played four games in his career. Josh Dobbs was a fourth-round pick and never started a game for the Steelers. Landry Jones was a fourth-round pick, as well, and was an utter disaster. To compare the talent that Allar had at his disposal to that of Howard, it’s a laughable one-sided affair in favor of Howard. Through Allar’s three seasons as Penn State’s starter, he had a grand total of zero wideouts get drafted. Two of Howard’s wide receivers from his one season with the Buckeyes have been drafted, and Jeremiah Smith will hear his name called next April, likely in the top five. In 2025, Howard had 13 Ohio State teammates hear their name called on draft day – Allar had seven teammates drafted in 2026. Despite no NFL-capable receivers, Allar still finished his collegiate career third all-time in touchdown passes in Penn State history and threw just 13 interceptions in 45 games. He was once expected to be a first-round pick because of the tools he possesses, but a disastrous 2025 for the Nittany Lions, capped off by a season-ending injury to Allar himself, saw his stock take a dip. However, his high-level arm talent and prototypical size put a high floor on Medina, Ohio native, leading to the Steelers investing a premium pick in him.None of this is to say that Allar will surely work out or that Howard won’t. It is to say, however, that trying to groom two quarterbacks doesn’t work. Fully investing in one guy increases the chances of that quarterback succeeding, and the Steelers need to put all of their eggs in the Drew Allar basket.Let us know what you think in the comments. Las Vegas Raiders 2023 Rookies Standing for 2026. True
Oct 12, 2025; Paradise, Nevada, USA; Las Vegas Raiders wide receiver Tre Tucker (1) runs the ball down the field during the second half against the Tennessee Titans at Allegiant Stadium. Mandatory Credit: Stephen R. Sylvanie-Imagn Images | Stephen R. Sylvanie-Imagn Images The Las Vegas Raiders had a rather underwhelming draft class in 2023, when reflecting on it heading into their fourth seasons. EDGE Tyree Wilson amassed just 12 sacks, 91 tackles, and 17 TFL in 50 games. Michael Mayer was quickly placed as a second TE after drafting franchise cornerstone Brock Bowers in the first round a year later, they took the wrong Byron Young (who on this roster completely changes the entire pass rush), and the team has traded or released 4th rounder Jakorian Bennett, 5th rounder Chris Smith, 6th rounder Amari Burney, and 7th rounder Nesta Jade Silvera. Of the class, just Mayer, O’Connell, and Tre Tucker remain. The best player comes with Tucker, though that’s not counting LB Drake Thomas who went on to log 114 tackles, 11 TFL, 5.5 sacks, INT, 11 PBU, and a FR across the 2025 season with the Seattle Seahawks as their green dot LB. With all that said, a look at where the 2023 rookies stand heading into a potential make it or break it season for many of them.EDGE Tyree Wilson – Off RosterTE Michael Mayer: Starting inline TE2025: 13 games (465 snaps) | 35 rec, 328 yards, TD, 5.7 YAC/reception, 17% contested catch (1/6), 5.4% drop rateMayer has had an up and down career after being the Raiders 2nd rounder in 2023, though the 6’4, 265-pound TE will head into year four, with his FOURTH offensive system. Mayer doesn’t turn 25 till July, and he’ll see a large snap count in 2026 as the Raiders inline TE, allowing Bowers to play the Y. As a result, Mayer is likely to see a fair share of volume, in a contract season, and he should have the opportunity to be a highly featured member of the Raiders offense. Mayer has been good with the ball in his hands, with a career YAC/reception of 5.7 yards, he runs good routes, and has consistently been a good safety blanket for the Raiders passing offense. If Las Vegas is smart, they’ll retain Mayer and under the Klint Kubiak offense, he’s someone who can certainly be a focal point, and produce with 350+ yards consistently. Mayer’s role has largely been as a depth piece, and 2026 should be the first season he’s a consistent starter with the usage rate of 12 and 13 personnel under Klint Kubiak. DT Byron Young – Off RosterThe Raiders genuinely drafted the wrong Byron Young….. (not a joke either). Having the 26 year old, 2x Pro Bowler with 27.5 sacks, 32 TFL, and 45 QB hits in his three year career would be quite nice. WR Tre Tucker: Starting WR2025: 57 rec, 696 yards, 5 TD, 5.1 YAC/reception, 38.% contested catch (5/13), 8.1% drop rateTucker saw a career year in 2025, he was targeted a career high 90 times, hauled in a career high in receptions, yards, and touchdowns, while also having a career high in YAC/reception. Tucker’s drop rate did nearly double from 2024, and he underproduced as well largely due to poor QB play. Tucker was a consistent WR, ranked 44th in separation among NFL receivers, and he’s an extremely explosive receiver. Klint Kubiak & John Spytek have spoke highly of Tucker, and it’s clear the 5’9, 185-pound receiver will have a key point of the Raiders offense. Tucker can be a dynamic receiver with the ball in his hands, he’s able to consistently work the 0-12 yard range, and can also run quality downfield concepts to force the safety out of the box. Tucker is just 25, and looming for an extension, he’ll be a focal point of the Raiders offense, and for a former third rounder, Tucker has turned in a quality career with a good runway ahead of him as a third receiver in most offenses. Cutting the drop rate down to mean would go a long way to a higher contract. CB Jakorian Bennett – Off RosterQB Aidan O’Connell: QB3 or Off Roster2025: 1 Game (51 snaps) | 10/22, 102 yards, 1 rush, 7 yardsO’Connell has had an up and down career, though for a fourth round QB it’s been better than you’d likely expect. While O’Connell is not a starting QB in the NFL, he’s a quality backup, though Las Vegas could see him out for a potential mid round draft pick in the 2027 class as Fernando Mendoza & Kirk Cousins are the top two in the room. O’Connell has a career 62% completion, 3932 yards, 20 TD, and 11 INT alongside taking 35 sacks, an 84.1 QBR, and 48 rushing yards with 2 touchdowns. O’Connell has been successful for his draft position, and the near 28 year old QB works well in spot starts, can keep the team afloat, but isn’t a true starting QB. Overall, O’Connell’s biggest battle this season will be if Las Vegas decides to keep three QB on the roster, which might be difficult to do with other needs, and higher developmental players possible in the fold for Las Vegas. SAF Christopher Smith – Off RosterILB Amari Burney – Off RosterNT Nesta Jade Silvera – Off RosterT Dalton Wagner: Competition for 9th OL2025: 3 games (2 snaps, 8 ST snaps)Wagner appeared in his first NFL game since signing with Las Vegas as a UDFA in 2023 during the 2025 season logging 2 snaps at RT in a win vs the Chiefs. The 6’8, 320-pound 27 year old has been a career practice squad player, mainly working as a RT in his career. Through three pre-seasons, Wagner allowed just 1 sack, and 8 pressures (3% pressure rate) with 218 snaps at RT and just 32 at LT. He figures to be in the play as the Raiders potential 4th T on the roster, and would take the role of the backup RT spot instead of a true “swing tackle” as most teams have, with Charles Grant the consistent starting LT behind Kolton Miller. Wagner is big, he’s physical, and he does a lot well in the run game. He’s able to move well in space, is smart, plays physical, and overall does a lot well in that phase. He’s very limited athletically, causing issues in the pass game with slow feet, poor hips, and average bend. That said, Wagner now headed into year four is likely to finally see a real chance at the 53 man roster, and could earn some quality play time if an injury occurs. He hit five fours and nine sixes at a strike rate of 281.81 to dismantle GT's bowling attack. However, it was Virat Kohli who gave the innings a solid foundation with 43 off 25 balls, including five fours and a six, before Krunal Pandya kept the momentum going with another 43 off 28 balls, featuring five fours and two sixes. In response, GT were bowled out for 162 in 19.3 overs, falling 92 runs short. Rahul Tewatia fought hard with 68 off 43 balls, and Jos Buttler provided a brief burst of 29 off 11 balls. But those two apart, no other batsman could put up any resistance. Jacob Duffy was RCB's leading wicket-taker with 3/39. Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Rasikh Salam each took two wickets, as did Krunal Pandya. MORE: Amateurs to seasoned champs: RCB's IPL transformationBhuvneshwar Kumar credits the coaching unit Bhuvneshwar, who now has 26 wickets in 15 matches this season, was particularly impressive with his line and length throughout. After the match, he pointed to the behind-the-scenes planning as the real difference-maker."I think a lot of credit goes to the men behind the scenes," he began. " It's everyone. I mean, yes, the experience we brought in, me and Hoff (Hazlewood) is one thing, but yes, when it comes to support staff, the small, small things they're bringing it, you might avoid that. But if experienced players like Hoff and I are accepted and you apply that rule, it works for us. And I think we've been doing that since the first match and it's helping us a lot."MORE: Where will IPL 2026 final be held? Venue, date and timings explainedBhuvneshwar insisted that when the planning is this thorough, the execution tends to follow."If you look at that plan, anything short or fuller, it goes for a boundary. But yes, we make a lot of effort not to give any room and try to get LBW and bowled. So it's definitely part of our planning," he added.Flower and his support staff have drawn wide praise not only from players inside the camp but from fans, who take a keen interest in the sport. IPL toss today: Phil Salt misses out for RCB; Shubman Gill makes big change as GT opt to field in Qualifier 1 in Dharamsala
NEW DELHI: Gujarat Titans captain Shubman Gill won the toss and elected to field against Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the high-voltage IPL 2026 Qualifier 1 clash at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium in Dharamsala on Tuesday. The winner of the contest will secure a direct spot in the IPL 2026 final, while the losing side will get another opportunity in Qualifier 2 against the winner of the Eliminator.Gujarat Titans made one change to their playing XI, bringing in Kulwant Khejroliya in place of Arshad Khan."We're gonna bowl first. It looks like a good wicket, you know, but we have seen and in this ground particularly, there is a bit of dew in the second inning, so it's always good to have a total on the board and a big win and then try to chase it down. I think, this match is all about taking the equation out of the game. We have been playing some really good cricket and hopefully we'll continue to do so," Shubman said during the toss."I've played a lot here in the under 14, under 16 days. I've spent quite a bit of time here, so yeah, hopefully it's gonna be a good use of us. And yes, it is one of the prettiest grounds, in the world. We have one change. Kulwant comes in in place of Arshad Khan," he said.On the other hand, defending champions RCB brought in Jacob Duffy as part of their changes for the knockout clash.— IPL (@IPL) "I think, to be honest, the wicket looks pretty good. It's pretty hard. It will come nicely on the bat, so I think it will not change in 40 overs. So we'll try to put a good total on the board and keep them under pressure. I think the first qualifier game is, I think it's a nice game to go straight in the final after winning this game, but we are just taking this one game at a time. We'll give our best in this game," RCB captain Rajat Patidar said."I think we've played good cricket and we are just focusing more on our strength, rather than focusing more on the opposition. So yeah, focusing more on the strength is our motto this year. I think the surface looks pretty good. It's pretty hard. There's no grass cover on it, I think so. Ravens S Malaki Starks: Rookie year didn't meet my standard, I'm expecting better this year
Safety Malaki Starks jumped right into a leading role for the Ravens during his rookie season, but the 2025 first-round pick wasn't thrilled with his overall body of work in 2026. Starks played the most snaps of anyone on the Baltimore defense and finished the year with 84 tackles and two interceptions, but said last week that he doesn't "think enough is said about entire draft process and how much of a toll that takes on you coming into the league." Starks said he's more comfortable with the process of preparing for the season this time around and has added muscle he believes will help him have "a breakout season or whatever you want to call it.""How I played last season was okay, but it's not the standard I set for myself," Starks said, via the team's website. "I know I can play at a higher level. There were plays I should've made and didn't. This season, I'm expecting to make them."Safeties were key to new Ravens head coach Jesse Minter's defense with the Chargers and they've also been vital to Baltimore's defensive success over the years. With Kyle Hamilton and Jaylinn Hawkins on hand in addition to Starks, that figures to be the idea for the coming season as well. That would make a leap for Starks a welcome development over the coming months.

Guard or tackle? Tyler Smith says he's comfortable with Cowboys' plans for him
Cowboys offensive lineman Tyler Smith has been a guard for most of his career, but he has at times played left tackle, including the final three games of last season. This year, there's been no official announcement about where Smith will play, but he says he's confident the team will have him in the right place.Smith said he sought out head coach Brian Schottenheimer to talk about his future, and he was satisfied with Schottenheimer's answers."We had great conversations about it," Smith told DallasCowboys.com. "I have an understanding of what it is. That's the most I can ask for is to just have that understanding early on. Obviously, I've got the utmost faith that we're going to go out there and we're going to do what we're going to do. Ultimately, I'll be in the position I need to be in. I'm good with where we're at."All indications are that Smith would prefer to play left guard, and that's where the Cowboys prefer him to play, too — if Tyler Guyton is healthy enough to start at left tackle. But if Guyton, who has struggled to stay healthy so far in his NFL career, gets hurt again, it may be time for Smith to slide over to left tackle again.

Eastern Michigan stuns Texas to extend run in NCAA Women's golf
CARLSBAD, Calif. (AP) — Jasmine Leovao made a 15-foot birdie putt on the 18th hole Tuesday as fifth-seeded Eastern Michigan extended its stunning run in the NCAA Women's Golf Championship by knocking off Texas to reach the semifinals.Eastern Michigan was ranked No. 227 two years ago when it hired Josh Brewer, who had been fired after 12 years at Georgia. The Eagles reached the NCAAs for the first time this year, then rallied to be among eight teams that qualified for match play.Leovao's twin sister, Janae, defeated NCAA individual champion Farah O'Keefe, 5 and 4. Savannah de Bock of Belgium, who followed Brewer from Georgia, easily handled Angela Heo, 5 and 3.Jasmine Leovao's putt dropped on the final turn, and the celebration was on. The Leovao twins grew up in Oceanside and started their careers at Long Beach State until transferring.“Don't wake me up,” Brewer said after the winning putt that clinched the 3 1/2-1/2 victory. “For this kid to come to Eastern Michigan from here and make that putt? Storybook. So why stop?”It didn't get any easier for Eastern Michigan, which faced top-seeded Stanford later Tuesday at La Costa Resort. Mets add $22 million lefty reliever who talked smack about Yankees to roster
Mets add $22 million lefty reliever who talked smack about Yankees to roster originally appeared on The Sporting News. Add The Sporting News as a Preferred Source by clicking here. The New York Mets will welcome back a left-handed reliever after a 13-month absence. Before Tuesday's game against the Cincinnati Reds, the NL East club activated A.J. Minter from the 60-day injured list. The former Atlanta Braves World Series champion underwent surgery on his left lat muscle. "The lefty set-up man has been dearly missed in that time, and his return could boost a Mets bullpen that has lacked a full supply of late-game options," The Athletic's Tim Britton and Will Sammon wrote Tuesday. "That said, Minter’s velocity has been down during his two rehab stints — the first interrupted by hip discomfort — and he may have to work his way back into shape." Minter signed a two-year, $22 million deal with the Mets before the 2025 season. New York Yankees fans may remember that he had some not-so-nice things to say about the fanbase. "You can tell these Mets fans, these are truly baseball fans," Minter said at his first press conference with his new club. "They get baseball, not like the other side of town." MORE: Yankees’ Aaron Judge on track to become first player in MLB history with five 50+ homer seasonsHarsh words from Minter, who was a key piece of Atlanta's bullpen from 2017-23, posting a 3.28 ERA in 348.2 innings during that span. In 2025, he made 13 appearances with the Mets before hitting the IL. The next time the Mets and Yankees will meet is in September at Yankee Stadium. It's been a while, but let's see how many Yankees fans remember what Minter, 32, said about them. Brewers face tough trade deadline questions on three struggling veterans
Brewers face tough trade deadline questions on three struggling veterans originally appeared on The Sporting News. Add The Sporting News as a Preferred Source by clicking here. The Milwaukee Brewers are sitting in first place in the NL Central, but not by a whole lot. Last place is only 4.5 games back of the Brewers, so things are still very much up in the air.One way to stave off some of the competition will be to acquire some help at the MLB trade deadline. But, for a team like the Brewers that typically doesn't spend big, this trade deadline question is a tricky one. However, as Tim Kelly of Bleacher Report highlighted, this Brewers trade deadline question revolves around three key veterans, all of whom reside in the infield.Brewers have three trade deadline questions with INF"The biggest area of need for the Brew Crew would seem to be on the left side of their infield," Kelly writes, "where they are getting minimal offensive production from Joey Ortiz and Luis Rengifo."Joey Ortiz, Luis Rengifo, and David Hamilton are the three veteran infielders that the Brewers should consider upgrading from at this year's deadline. The question they need to ask themselves is whether it's worth it to spend prospect capital to upgrade at third base and shortstop.Hamilton has a .235 average and a .598 OPS this season in 115 at-bats. Rengifo has a .208 average and a .536 OPS in 144 at-bats this season. Lastly, Ortiz has a .195 average and a .529 OPS in 113 at-bats in 2026.Not one of these players is performing well enough to convince the Brewers front office to, at the very least, consider trading for an upgrade over them.MORE: Ex-MLB GM projects White Sox to sell at trade deadline despite 2026 successSecond base and first base are fine, while the outfield and the catcher spots are likely set as well. So, the only realistic area worth upgrading this year is at third base or shortstop.CJ Abrams would make perfect sense, but he would cost a lot to acquire from the Washington Nationals. If the Brewers are trying to keep the spending to a minimum, someone like Royce Lewis of the Minnesota Twins would be a good option. Isaac Paredes of the Houston Astros would be a good middle-ground trade target for the Brewers. The Brewers trade deadline question with Hamilton, Rengifo, and Ortiz is a tough one. They need better production at both third base and shortstop, and while there are some interesting names in the trade market, this won't be an easy decision.More MLB news:5 reasons to believe in Jordan Walker's breakout for CardinalsRoman Anthony might’ve been overhyped for Red SoxDodgers still have a Roki Sasaki problemChase Burns becomes first Reds pitcher with elite stat line since 1922Yankees’ Aaron Judge on track to become first player in MLB history with five 50+ homer seasons

Remembering the last time the Kansas City Chiefs traveled to Seattle
The Seattle Seahawks will enjoy several moments under the lights of prime time this coming season, as they have seven standalone nationally televised games. One of them will be a Week 7 showdown with the Kansas City Chiefs at Lumen Field on Sunday Night Football.Back in the day, Kansas City and Seattle used to be old AFC West division rivals. But since the Seahawks moved to the NFC West in 2002, meetings between these teams have been only played each other during the standard four-year interval that the league has for cross-conference meetings. In fact, the Seahawks and Chiefs have only played each other six times since the 2002 season, with the most recent one having occurred in December of 2022. Week 7 will mark quarterback Patrick Mahomes and head coach Andy Reid's first visit to the Pacific Northwest since the 2018 campaign - Mahomes' second year in the league, and his first as a full-time starter. The Texas Tech standout exploded onto the scene and was catapulted into instant stardom, from which he's never looked back. Mahomes torched opposing defenses on a weekly basis, throwing for 5,097 yards and a career-best 50 touchdown passes. Back then, the Chiefs' offense appeared to be unstoppable. Well, almost unstoppable. They suffered their fourth and final regular season loss of the 2018 season on a frigid December 23rd night in Seattle, Washington. The Seahawks, who missed narrowly missed the playoffs in 2017, were proving once again why the media should have never written off a Pete Carroll-led squad. Seattle, with a record of 8-6 thanks to an overtime loss the week prior, was set to host the juggernaut Chiefs on Sunday Night Football. Seattle took an early lead with an 11-play, 83-yard opening drive touchdown to keep Mahomes sidelined. Kansas City eventually went up 10-7 in the second quarter, but the Seahawks took advantage of a pair of fumbles to build a 14-10 lead going into the half. Eventually, it was tied 17-17 in the third quarter, until Russell Wilson found Doug Baldwin for a 17-yard touchdown strike to take a 24-17 lead right before the start of the fourth quarter. The fourth quarter is where the fireworks took off, and where prime Russell Wilson showed the eventual league MVP that year why Seattle is such a difficult place for road teams to find success at. Wilson and the Seahawks offense proved to be the unstoppable ones that night, building leads of 31-20 and 38-28 before the final score of a 38-31 Seattle victory. Wilson completed 18-of-29 passes for 271 yards and three touchdown passes, as well as rushing for 57 on the ground. Mahomes, to his credit, was still a lethal force passing for 273 yards and three scores himself. However, by 2018 standards, he was held in check with 23-of-40 passing and never truly took over the game himself. Now the times have changed. Yes, the Chiefs have won three Super Bowls in five appearances since then, but they are hardly the dynastic force they once were. Kansas City's luck in one-score games flipped against them hard last year, cratering to 6-11. Yes, Patrick Mahomes did tear his ACL, but it was in Week 15 when the team was already 6-7 and on the verge of being eliminated from the playoffs. Mahomes will obviously return, but it remains to be seen what impact the injury will have on him as he makes his way back to the field. Yes, Week 7 will give the Chiefs plenty of time to get a feel for how their season is going, but a road trip against a considerably stronger Seahawks team than the one they faced in 2018 will be quite the challenge.
