Clavicular Wakes Up As Hideous, Jawless Monster After Rating Old Crone A 4
MIAMI—Trembling as he held a hand mirror to his face to behold his ghastly new form, internet personality Clavicular reportedly woke up as a hideous, jawless monster Thursday after rating an old crone’s looks a four out of 10. “Oh God, oh God—what has she done? I’m a monstrosity! I’m hideous!” said the formerly chisel-jawed influencer and champion of the “looksmaxxing” subculture, clutching for the now-nonexistent jawline that had somehow disappeared overnight, likely due to a vengeful act by the old, wizened hag whose looks he had judged as “mid” in a late-night livestream. “My God, I’ll never mog again. That evil old crone has cursed me to walk the earth as this horrible, sub5 abomination with a failo jawline and no aura to speak of. Why, oh why did I not heed her warning when she said she would have her revenge?!” At press time, Clavicular was seen in a livestream attempting to reverse the hex by complimenting the wide, imposing frame of the crone’s hunch. Marshawn Lynch Regrets Turning Down Chili’s Ad For ‘Euphoria’
LOS ANGELES—Letting out a deep sigh after reading another review of the HBO show’s third and final season, former NFL running back Marshawn Lynch reportedly expressed regret Thursday for having turned down a Chili’s ad for a role in Euphoria. “That’s it, I’m ruined,” said Lynch, who told reporters he was “kicking [himself]” over his decision to sign on to the Sam Levinson production rather than take a role in a 30-second commercial for the casual dining chain restaurant during which his only line would have been “I’m going beast mode on this Triple Dipper combo.” “Euphoria? What was I thinking? I’m never going to be able to show my face in this town again, let alone drive by a Chili’s without thinking about what could have been. God, I’m such an idiot.” Lynch added that he was also furious he had let Levinson talk him into taking his top off. Trump Makes Figurines Of Himself, Ivanka Kiss In Miniature Ballroom Model
WASHINGTON—Mashing their faces together as he produced loud smooching sounds, President Donald Trump made figurines of himself and his daughter Ivanka Trump kiss in a model of his under-construction White House ballroom, reports confirmed Thursday. According to sources, Trump raised the pitch of his voice and said, “Such a splendid ballroom, Daddy! Let us dance!” as he pressed the figurines into each other at the waist and whirled them around the checkered marble floor. Continuing in his approximation of his daughter’s voice, Trump reportedly said, “You’re so manly and strong, Daddy! Don’t tell Jared, but I want you! I want to hump you now!” He was then seen flipping the figurines into a horizontal position and furiously rubbing them against each other. Sources said Trump began sobbing when Ivanka’s head popped off but recovered shortly thereafter and tossed her into the same shoebox as his Ivana Trump figurine. 2025-26 Season in Review: Ville Koivunen

But things never really clicked for him at the NHL level, he eventually found himself back in the American Hockey League, and spent the 2025-26 season bouncing between the two levels. While he put up impressive numbers in Wilkes-Barre/Scranton for the second year in a row (he has been a point-per-game player with 97 points in 97 regular season games), it has not yet consistently translated to the NHL. The Penguins tried to go younger this season. A lot of the players they put into positions at the NHL level did not fully take advantage of it. At least not yet. Monthly SplitsVia Yahoo! SportsWith just four points in his first 25 games, Koivunen never found any sort of consistency with his production and did not yet develop the scoring touch or playmaking that the Penguins were hoping for. Even when he came back up at the end of the regular season the offense he was displaying in Wilkes-Barre/Scranton never carried over with zero goals and just two assists over his final 12 games of the season in March and April. He is either first or last in nearly every category. All of the possession and scoring chance metrics? First. All of the actual goals scored and goals created metrics? Last. An enormous disconnect and basically makes him a newer version of Dominik Simon. On one hand, it is positive that he pushes play and helps generate opportunities. That is important. There is value in that. It is also immensely frustrating that it does not turn into anything tangible on the scoreboard. That is going to have to start changing if he is going to be a regular in the top-six, or even in the top-nine. It is going to have to start changing rapidly. Highlights"THERE IT IS VILLE!" 🤩 Ville Koivunen has his first NHL goal! pic.twitter.com/mkybiqpaO9— NHL (@NHL) December 5, 2025Ville Koivunen gives the Pens an early lead 🐧Watch Penguins vs. Blue Jackets on SN1, SNW, or stream on Sportsnet+ 📺 pic.twitter.com/y6U5WhMV83— Sportsnet (@Sportsnet) January 4, 2026Questions to ponderThe big question is simply can he translate the AHL production into NHL production, and can he turn the territorial edge the Penguins get with him on the ice into something that becomes actuals goals? There were countless times during the season where Koivunen would seem to be in a prime scoring position with a chance to score, only to have his shot get blocked or deflected away from the net. Is his decision-making and shot just a split second too slow for the NHL? There is a fine line between success and failure at the highest level, and openings that exist in the minor leagues are not going to be there as long in the NHL. Any small hesitation is going to take away the opportunity you have in front of you. Ideal 2026-27He does not need to be a star, but he needs to show something. He needs to produce something. An ideal season for Koivunen would be sticking in the NHL for the entire season, and showing that he can at least contribute in the middle-six forward group and give them (and him) something to build on. Give them 15 goals. Give them 30-35 points. Take a step forward. Become an NHL player. Bottom lineKoivunen has nothing left to prove at the AHL level, and we are getting close to make-or-break time with the Penguins. That might seem like a harsh thing to say about a 23-year-old, especially when development is different for every player, but if you are going to a top-six or top-line player you probably need to start showing something by this age. You do not need to be at your peak or your absolute best. But you need to do something. At this point he is starting to go from prospect to suspect. He is almost certain to get re-signed as a restricted free agent, but it is going to be a short-term “prove it” deal. It is going to be all on him to actually start proving it. Final Grade: D+It was a very disappointing season for Koivunen, at least as it relates to his NHL play. There were positives, especially with the ability to help drive possession. But the Penguins expected to see, and wanted to see, more offense from him. The talent is there. The creativity is there. He just needs to bring it all together.

Eagles News: Eagles and Patriots “not particularly close” on A.J. Brown trade?
FOXBOROUGH, MASSACHUSETTS - SEPTEMBER 10: Christian Gonzalez #6 of the New England Patriots tackles A.J. Brown #11 of the Philadelphia Eagles during the fourth quarter at Gillette Stadium on September 10, 2023 in Foxborough, Massachusetts. (Photo by Maddie Meyer/Getty Images) | Getty Images Let’s get to the Philadelphia Eagles news and links …A.J. Brown trade rumors: Patriots and Eagles talks at an impasse? – Pats PulpitIn fact, according to NFL insider Ian Rapoport, the Patriots and Eagles are “not particularly close” at the moment. “I just don’t know that it’s like snap your fingers and the deal is done,” Rapoport said on Wednesday. “The two sides are where they had been, which is the Eagles wanting a first-round pick in 2027. The Patriots, the most likely destination — we’ll see if someone else arises — not being willing to give up a first-round pick as of right now. That means they’re not particularly close, and there’s a chance this could drag on for the foreseeable future.” The Eagles wanting a 2027 first-round draft pick for Brown is nothing new, and neither is the Patriots’ reluctance to part with such a premium commodity in what is considered a deep upcoming draft. As a consequence, there has been speculation about a 2028 first-rounder being a potential middle ground. Rapoport’s report, meanwhile, makes it sound like such a middle ground has not yet been found or agreed upon.Eagles’ Jalen Hurts: Relationship with A.J. Brown ‘really good’ – ESPNBrown was married recently and the photos published on social media suggest Hurts wasn’t in attendance. Hurts indirectly confirmed that, while reiterating what he told reporters in January about where things stand between him and Brown. “Nothing’s changed. … We’re really good,” Hurts said of Brown. “I saw how beautiful the pictures came out at his wedding. I’m very happy for him and his wife and his family. It’s a beautiful thing to step into convenance so I was very excited and congratulatory towards that.” The Eagles have set themselves up for life without Brown. They moved up to select Makai Lemon in April’s draft, traded with the Green Bay Packers for Dontayvion Wicks and signed Hollywood Brown and Elijah Moore to one-year deals. There is an air of inevitability about his departure, even if his current teammates can’t come right out and say it. “I’m a big fan of A.J. Brown. One of my really good friends, one of my favorite teammates I’ve ever been around,” running back Saquon Barkley said. “Just respect him as a man. But this is a business. It’s the NFL. If I’m not here, Jalen’s not here, whoever’s not here, the show goes on.”Eagles stars maintaining focus despite ‘if’ of A.J. Brown trade lingering – NFL.com“I don’t think we’ve really addressed it,” running back Saquon Barkley said in his Wednesday news conference. “It’s football. It’s the National Football League. It’s gonna be a hard time for me to say anything bad about A.J. Brown. I’m a big fan of A.J. Brown. One of my really good friends. One of my favorite teammates I’ve ever been around. Just respect him as a man. But this is a business. It’s the NFL. If I’m not here, Jalen (Hurts) [is] not here, whoever’s not here, the show goes on. That’s how the NFL operates. You don’t really address it. It’s not really anything to be addressed. You just go about your work and keep getting better. Whatever happens, that’s above my pay grade. I’m just focused on being the best player that I can be and also be the best leader that I can be for this team going into next season.”Albert Breer’s Notes: Brendan Sorsby’s Next Steps if He Loses Injunction – SIWe touched on the looming A.J. Brown trade in the takeaways Monday, with the expectation it’ll come next week. And I still believe the throughway to satisfying the Eagles’ desire for a first-round pick is pushing that return into 2028. Philadelphia GM Howie Roseman has been amenable to such compromises in the past—he took a 2026 third-rounder for Haason Reddick in March 2024—because he has the job security to do so. Also, such a compromise was already discussed between the Eagles and a team other than the Patriots a couple of months ago, at which point Philly would’ve been accepting a pick three drafts away. It’s a small difference, but the 2028 first-rounder is now two drafts away, which creates a parallel to what the Jets received for Quinnen Williams—the Cowboys centered their package for Williams, in fall 2025, around a 2027 first-round pick—that Roseman was using as a trade comp in the first place. Anyway, Roseman has been smart and patient, allowing time to smoke out any suitors over the past couple of months in case unforeseen circumstances arise elsewhere. But I think in the end, as I said in the Monday column, this will wrap up the way we all expect it to.Agent’s Take: The Eagles and A.J. Brown are headed for a split. Here’s what comes next – CBS SportsThe optimal time for the Eagles to trade Brown is after June 1 when the salary cap ramifications become more favorable. By waiting until June 2, the bonus proration from Brown’s 2027 through 2029 contract years won’t accelerate onto Philadelphia’s 2026 salary cap under NFL salary cap rules. That bonus proration would instead become a 2027 cap charge. Trading Brown prior to June 2 would increase Philadelphia’s 2026 cap charges for Brown by $27,161,609 because of the bonus proration from his 2027 through 2029 contract years accelerating forward. That would have been too cost prohibitive considering the Eagles currently have $26.286 million of 2026 cap space, according to NFLPA data. The Eagles are going to have $21,843,496 in 2026 dead money (a salary cap charge for a player no longer on a team’s roster), resulting in $1.55 million in 2026 cap savings by trading Brown after June 1. The $5.49 million of option bonus proration in 2026 for this year’s option should remain a Philadelphia cap charge, even though the exercise period ends a day before the team’s first regular-season game of the 2026 season, rather than the 2026 cap savings being $7.04 million. The deadline date will be Sept. 8, Sept. 9, Sept. 12 or Sept. 13 depending on where Brown is dealt.Eagles practice notes: Updates on Jalen Hurts, a new offense, the depth chart, and more – BGNOFFENSIVE LINE: The first-team unit was LT Jordan Mailata, LG Landon Dickerson, C Cam Jurgens, RG Tyler Steen, RT Markel Bell. Interesting to see the rookie third-round pick instantly working with the starters with Lane Johnson not practicing. Seems like a good sign for Bell. The second-team unit was LT Fred Johnson, LG Myles Hinton, C Jake Majors, RG Drew Kendall, RT John Ojukwu. Hinton is now working at guard after repping at tackle as a rookie. Kendall repping at guard instead of center is interesting. Perhaps prepping him to be the top guy at all three interior spots, like Brett Toth was last year. The third-team unit was LT Hollin Pierce, LG Jaeadan Roberts, C Willie Lampkin, RG Micah Morris, and RT Cameron Williams. Pierce is back at tackle as working as a guard last year. Lampkin falling behind Majors on the depth chart isn’t great for him.Eagles OTA practice notes: Birds football is back – PhillyVoiceRookie QB Cole Payton had a nice initial showing. He threw a ball on the money on a corner route to undrafted rookie TE Dae’Quan Wright. He also made nice throws down the field to Elijah Moore and (fill in your receiver of choice because I forgot to write it down). I thought the throws to Moore and the other guy were a little late, but the accuracy was there. (Side note: There will be Eagles beat reporters laying claim to Dae’Quan Wright as “their guy.” Just know for the record that I profiled him in October last year.) [BLG Note: Despite what Jimmy says, Wright is officially My Guy first and foremost.]‘An enjoyable journey:’ Jalen Hurts having fun learning the Sean Mannion offense – NBCSP“My process hasn’t changed since college,” Hurts said after an OTA practice on Wednesday. “It hasn’t changed at all. I learn as much as I can, build with the coach and see what his direction is, what his vision is, ask the right questions. I mean, it’s been the same exact process, and I’ve learned a lot on that journey. But I do really want to become an expert at the position, and I want to grow within the position. And that’s obviously hard to do when it’s always changing. But that’s not going to stop me from trying to be the best that I can be, so I’m just trying to grow, taking the coaching that I can so I can be the best I can be for the team.”Saquon Barkley consulted with Todd Gurley about Eagles’ new offense – PFTNew Eagles offensive coordinator Sean Mannion will run a Sean McVay-style offense this season. Quarterback Jalen Hurts is expected to play under center more often, and the Eagles are expected to use an outside zone run scheme. Eagles running back Saquon Barkley reached out to Todd Gurley about the system. In five seasons in the offense, Gurley rushed for 5,404 yards and 58 touchdowns, twice earned All-Pro and in 2018 was Offensive Player of the Year. Why Jalen Hurts is facing critical year; what to expect from Eagles’ defense: Mailbag – The AthleticThe quick answer to this is yes, I expect Hurts to answer the bell and respond to the changes — and some of the charges against him this offseason. I’ve heard him described (and have since written) as a football version of compound interest. That is an apt description. He’s built a career responding to different challenges and demonstrating improvement. Of course, there’s nuance to this. The system isn’t the only change. The players around him are different. And plans often evolve. Let me explain. To begin with, the expected Brown trade will weaken the skill position players. The Eagles have improved their depth and added intriguing options, but they’re losing one of the best players in the NFL who averaged 1,258.5 yards per season during the past four years. You can’t sell me on an addition by subtraction. It’s a subtraction. That affects the passing game — and I think there will be hurdles to overcome, especially early in the season while younger players develop. It’s not prohibitive, and it’s incumbent upon Hurts to help elevate the talent around him, but I think the offense would be better with Brown than without him. Further, if the offensive line experiences injuries — especially on the interior — then the protection could be an issue. That’s where personnel comes into play.15 minutes of Brian Dawkins’ biggest hits – PhiladelphiaEagles.comYes, the Crumpler one is included. Of course, there’s the suplex. And the flying tackle. But there are some gems that’ll wake you upTexans add former Pro Bowl RB to staff as part of Bill Walsh Diversity Coaching Fellowship – TexansWireAccording to reports, former Pro Bowl running back Darren Sproles is participating in the Bill Walsh Diversity Coaching Fellowship with the Texans for the spring. A former teammate of Texans head coach DeMeco Ryans in Philadelphia, Sproles now will have a chance to change the game off the field as he did on it during his illustrious career.Cowboys WR Parris Campbell retiring – Blogging The BoysThere will be one fewer veteran receiver in the Cowboys’ training camp this year. Parris Campbell, a former second-round pick by the Colts in 2019, is calling it a career at just 28 years old. He had signed a futures deal to return to Dallas last January. It’s almost strange to call Campbell a “Cowboys WR” as it feels like he never actually played for us. He did briefly appear in last year’s loss to the Panthers, getting just two snaps on offense and a few more on special teams. But after spending most of 2025 on the practice following a knee injury in August, Campbell appears to be done with fighting with health issues. [BLG Note: Eagles Super Bowl LIX champion is apparently calling it a career.]Jayden Daniels details work with new Commanders coordinator David Blough – Hogs HavenJayden Daniels spent his first two NFL seasons working under offensive coordinator Kliff Kingsbury. He’s learning a whole new scheme this offseason, with David Blough taking over as Washington’s offensive play caller and designer. The third-year quarterback and former No. 2 overall NFL draft pick will be asked to do some different things in this scheme, including increased work under center, making this offseason program even more important than it normally is.NY Giants news: Giants sign DT Josh Tupou – Big Blue ViewThe New York Giants have signed DT Josh Tupou per a report. Tupou, 32, is a familiar face for John Harbaugh after spending parts of 2024 and 2025 on the Baltimore Ravens practice squad. The Giants recently worked out a group of defensive tackles, including veteran Eddie Goldman, and seem to have settled on Tupou to bolster a depth chart. Tupou will fill the roster spot opened when DT Roy Robertson-Harris to a torn Achilles suffered in practice last week. Can you guess this NFL linebacker in today’s in-5 trivia game? – SB NationHello football fans! Seahawks DL Rylie Mills can ride Super Bowl 60 momentum into OTAs
The Seattle Seahawks began Organized Team Activities (OTAs) earlier this week. A handful of practice sessions will eventually lead to a three-day mandatory minicamp in June. One of the sophomore prospects worth watching closely is defensive lineman Rylie Mills.ESPN's Brady Henderson recently noted that this time last year, Mills was a non-participant in offseason workouts due to rehabbing from a torn ACL suffered in college. The 2025 fifth-round pick eventually made his debut in December. Mills capitalized on the opportunity by recording his first career sack in Super Bowl 60. Now, he's hoping to build on that momentum while going through his first healthy offseason. What can Rylie Mills do in 2026 after a full offseason? This time last year, the 2025 fifth-round pick was in the middle of his rehab from a college ACL tear. He made his debut in December — about a year post-injury — and recorded his first career sack in the Super Bowl. pic.twitter.com/2fyKUE1pYL— Brady Henderson (@BradyHenderson) May 27, 2026Mills is now primarily listed as a defensive end after playing a versatile inside-outside role as a rookie. Going forward, he'll be tasked with securing a rotational role behind lineman like Leonard Williams and DeMarcus Lawrence. Mills can be impactful in that role.Mills defends around the line of scrimmage with energy and urgency. His highlight reel sack in Super Bowl 60 versus the New England Patriots displayed the highest upside of his abilities. A sophomore Mills could be significantly more impactful due to having a healthy offseason to grow and develop in Mike Macdonald's system. This article originally appeared on Seahawks Wire: Seahawks DL Rylie Mills can ride Super Bowl 60 momentum into OTAs

Ancelotti forced to go without Neymar for 2026 World Cup openers
Ancelotti forced to go without Neymar for 2026 World Cup openersReports on Thursday confirm that Carlo Ancelotti will have to go without star attacker Neymar for Brazil’s warm-up matches ahead of the 2026 World Cup, and that the former Barcelona and PSG star may have to miss the opening game of the tournament as well.Neymar ruled out for two to three weeks ahead of 2026 World CupAncelotti confirmed that the 34-year-old Neymar would be going to the World Cup in his squad announcement earlier this month.Neymar has been back in Brazil with his boyhood club Santos since last January, however injuries have continued to have an impact on the veteran’s playtime. Now, Brazil national team doctor Rodrigo Lasmar has confirmed that Neymar will be out of action for another two to three weeks due to a grade-two strain in his calf.“Neymar came to Granja Comary yesterday, did all the tests, which ended with an MRI that showed a grade two injury to the calf, not just an edema. The expectation is that he will be released in two to three weeks,” Lasmar confirmed (via Globo.com).CUIABA, BRAZIL – OCTOBER 12: Nemyar Jr. of Brazil runs with the ball during a FIFA World Cup 2026 Qualifier match between Brazil and Venezuela at Arena Pantanal on October 12, 2023 in Cuiaba, Brazil. The expectation is that he will also be unavailable for Brazil’s first game at the 2026 World Cup, which comes against Morocco at the MetLife Stadium in New Jersey on June 13.Neymar will instead be targeting an appearance in Brazil’s second match of the tournament, against Haiti on June 20.

Ja'Kobi Lane could be what Anquan Boldin was for Baltimore Ravens
Ja'Kobi Lane has people talking in Baltimore, not just for his entertaining personality in interviews, but for what he has done on the field. Lane was as talented as they come heading into this year's NFL draft, but he fell behind his peers and was taken in the third round at pick 80. His talent should have had him selected in the first round, but it was to the Ravens' benefit that he fell. Here is my take on whether Ja'Kobi Lane will pan out with the Baltimore Ravens:The Ravens' offense has Derrick Henry and Lamar Jackson as their two unstoppable forces that draw a lot of attention. Just those two alone will make the Ravens offense a wagon. Zay Flowers is an underrated weapon, but he is not the physically imposing force who completely changes the game. The Ravens needed that at receiver, someone who can win physically.Insert Ja'Kobi Lane. Lane will come in and challenge corners and give the Ravens their first domiant outside weapon since Anquan Boldin. Boldin was extremely clutch in the playoffs for Baltimore. The hope is that Lane can be that for his entire career in Baltimore. Lane's skillset and speed give him an upside for a much greater ceiling. Lane will dominant on the outside, and he will be a guy that can run away from defenders. That is the perfect prototype of a weapon for Lamar Jackson to have. I think he fits perfectly in the offense. I think Lane will pan out in Baltimore and give them exactly what they are looking for. Lane will go from being underrated to just what the doctor ordered in Baltimore. Lane may not be expected to be a key contributor out of the gates, but I think there is really potential that he ends up being a threat to Lamar for years to comeThis article originally appeared on Trojans Wire: Ja'Kobi Lane NFL draft pick should pan out for Baltimore Ravens

David Moyes is awful and needs replacing; the squad needs gutting and the club’s leadership aren’t showing enough ambition. Etc etc.To an extent, elements of those complaints are all true, and the negativity is perfectly valid. You cannot fail to win your last 7 games of a season, especially when the lure of European football was right there until the penultimate match, and not expect fans to be disappointed and angry.Plenty have suggested the entire season was a waste, and in fairness, the back half of it, when Moyes really began to go into his stubborn shell, is feeling like a squandered opportunity not only to achieve something tangible in the form of European qualification, but also learn more about this squad. However, it really wasn’t all bad, and here’s some positives to take.HILL DICKINSON IS BEGINNING TO FEEL LIKE HOMEPeople can dismiss it if they like, but moving stadium was never going to be easy, and it took a while for Evertonians to get used to Hill Dickinson Stadium and their new matchday routines. The players, too, needed time to adapt to new surroundings: There’s a reason why every Premier League team that has changed ground, has gone on to accrue fewer points in their first season in their new home than they did in their last season at their former stadium.A rough winter, littered with too many midweek night matches, did not help Everton’s cause, but when they got through it, those two victories over Burnley and then Chelsea — the milestone one — showed what the Toffees can do on home turf. There was not enough joyful moments at the ground, and the club are almost certainly guilty of thinking a new stadium would be the plaster for Everton’s wounds — that is another cultural issue that must be stamped out. But, it does seem like Hill Dickinson Stadium is beginning to feel like home: Now, there’s no excuses not to make it a fortress.NO MORE BOGEY GROUNDSIt had been 12 years since Everton won at OId Trafford, and they had never claimed a Premier League victory at Bournemouth. They had not won at Villa Park since 2016.Yet all of those runs came to an end in 2025-26.All three victories came in typical Everton fashion, with the Toffees grinding out 1-0 wins in tough circumstances.Idrissa Gueye’s bizarre sending off for slapping Michael Keane inside the opening 15 minutes at Old Trafford had been compounded by an early injury to Seamus Coleman, but after taking the lead through Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall’s stunner, Everton showed plenty of resilience to drag themselves over the line, with Jordan Pickford coming up big. They then limited a free-flowing Bournemouth team to just 0.5 xG as Jack Grealish’s deflected strike snatched victory on the south coast in early December, and in January, a makeshift Everton team shorn of some key players got the better of Aston Villa.Getting those monkeys off their back was vital.GARNER PROVES IT’S NOT JUST YOUNGSTERS WHO CAN IMPROVEThis time last year, I was of the school of thought that James Garner should probably be moved on. I always liked his effort and quality when he showed it, but too often he just felt like a workmanlike cog.I’m very happy to be wrong. In the last 12 months, Garner has come on to be Everton’s best midfielder. He really stepped up his game to match the levels of Dewsbury-Hall and Grealish, and he is now probably the first name on the team sheet when it comes to outfielders. He should be going to the World Cup, but at least now he can get a full rest and then a proper pre-season, and come back next season with more fire in his belly. At 25, Garner is heading into his prime, but he proved you don’t have to be in your early 20s to develop.ARMSTRONG TAKES ANOTHER STEP UPThere has been plenty of rightful frustration around Moyes’ handling of Everton’s youngsters, and many fans believe Harrison Armstrong should not have been brought back from his loan spell at Preston North End — or, at least, he should have returned there at the end of January.I think the latter argument is a good one. He came in to help Everton when they were down to their bare bones in January, but then needed to go back out and be back playing week in, week out. That being said, it will also have done Armstrong good to train alongside the likes of Garner, Dewsbury-Hall and Idrissa Gueye as he continues his development, and he did not get insignificant minutes.Between the start of January, when Armstrong returned to Everton, and the end of the season, only one player who is younger than the 19-year-old played more minutes in the Premier League — that was Wolves youngster Mateus Mane.Armstrong clocked up 527 league minutes, and Everton’s call must now be whether they send him back out on loan or keep him.If they elect to keep him, then they must move on at least one of their other central midfield options, if not two, as they already need to strengthen in that area with a dominant presence. But Armstrong should then be competing with one other player to be the next cab off the rank, and if he is at the club in 2026-27, needs to be clocking up around 1,000 league minutes at least.

Jose Mourinho’s camp not too worried about delay in Real Madrid appointment – report
Jose Mourinho’s camp not too worried about delay in Real Madrid appointment – reportAlthough it is almost guaranteed that Jose Mourinho will become the head coach at Real Madrid next season, the delay is announcement has caused a lot of anxiety lately. Recent reports suggest Real Madrid will now have to pay as much as €15 million in order to sign Mourinho, having missed the payout deadline for the release clause.Jose Mourinho remains calmJose Mourinho is still officially not a Real Madrid manager. (Photo by Stu Forster/Getty Images)According to Diario AS, Mourinho’s camp remains calm about the situation despite the unprecedented delay in the announcement. The Portuguese tactician’s camp is aware that everything is still under control, and Real Madrid may have already discussed every possible delay with SL Benfica.Every transfer rumour surrounding Real Madrid so far have included Mourinho, and it is clear that the club are heeding the Portuguese for their transfer policy this summer.Keeping that in mind, Mourinho remains calm about his situation and the apparent delay. Why the delay? When will Real Madrid announce Mourinho as the new head coach? (Photo by Stu Forster/Getty Images)The delay in appointing Mourinho as the new coach can be linked to a multitude of factors, but none more so than the upcoming Real Madrid presidential elections. It promises to be the first presidential election since 2006, with Florentino Perez’s authority now being challenged by Spanish businessman Enrique Riquelme. Real Madrid are expected to announce Mourinho only after the election. The report suggests the delay caused by the election is not a problem for the Portuguese tactician.Another factor could simply be that the season is still not technically over and Real Madrid were initially planning to wait after the last game of the campaign before announcing a new coach.

Madison's Henderlich, Yellow Jackets to play in D-III World Series at Classic Park
When Will Henderlich was at Madison High School, he had the opportunity to play baseball at Classic Auto Group Park. Now a junior at Baldwin Wallace College, Henderlich will get another chance to play at the home of the Cleveland Guardians Class A Lake County Captains affiliate in Eastlake. The Yellow Jackets advanced to the Division III College World Series.BW, which is making its third WS appearance since 2022, will play No. 7 Johns Hopkins at 10 a.m. Friday in the first round. The tournament is a double-elimination format. If the Yellow Jackets win their opening game at 10 a.m., they will play the winner the second game, which is between Denison University and East Texas Baptist University. The losers of Games 1 and 2 are scheduled to play at 10 a.m. Saturday, and the winners of those contests are slated to battle at 1:30 p.m. the same day.“I’ve never been to the college WS,” Henderlich said. “It’s a surreal experience to go there.”The Yellow Jackets earned a WS berth with an 11-2 win over Messiah (Pa.) in the second game the best-of-three at Fisher Field during the NCAA Super Regional last weekend.“It’s about grit,” Henderlich said. “We love going out there and having fun, and being grateful.”BW heads into the College World Series with a 36-10 record, including 16-2 in its last 18 games.“As coach [Brian] Harrison would say, ‘Be great at the end of the season,’” Henderlich said.He is looking forward to playing at Classic Park in a familiar environment.“Getting the chance to play on this stage with my family and friends watching is something I’ll never forget,” Henderlich said. “Their support has helped me get here, and it’s awesome to be able to enjoy this moment with them.”After not playing in his freshman season and seeing limited time last year, Henderlich has taken on a more active role in the 2026 season. As a reliever, he has pitched 18.1 innings. Henderlich has a 1.96 ERA with 21 strikeouts.“I pitch about 2.1 innings a time out,” he said. “They like me in the eighth inning or closer role.”Henderlich has yielded just four earned runs, the last one allowed March 28 against Capital. He went three scoreless innings with seven strikeouts against Ohio Northern April 25, and recorded a save at Wilmington March 21.“I definitely love the anxiety and pressure,” Henderlich said. “I trust what we’ve been working on. If it doesn’t go my way, there’s not much you can do; if it does, the better.”Henderlich said he didn’t necessarily think about playing at BW, but it happened.“It was one of the schools that popped in my mind,” he said. I played with someone from B2 [an area baseball organization known for its travel teams] who was going there. It was the first school that reached out to me and that I reached out to.”Henderlich didn’t arrive at BW as a pitcher, but toiled on the mound at Madison.“My first year, it took a little bit to settle in,” he said. “I came in as a catcher, but hurt my shoulder in fall ball my freshman year.”But Henderlich re-invented himself.“I got back in my sophomore year,” he said. “I wanted to give pitching a shot, and coach said I’d get that opportunity in the fall my sophomore year. I’ve always been pitching. It was always within me, so it was not too bad of a stretch.“I missed a big part of the pitching in the offseason, but if I can find my place, I’ll do whatever I can to help the team.”Last season, Henderlich pitched 8.1 innings. He notched 12 strikeouts and a 3.24 ERA.“I definitely got used to it,” he said of becoming a reliever. “Whatever I takes to have fun, and always be grateful.”Whatever happens this weekend, Henderlich will take the ups and downs and get ready for his senior season. He is scheduled to graduate in 2027 in exercise science. But in the college WS, it’s about trying to win and enjoying the moment.“I’m beyond grateful to be a part of such an amazing team, and have everyone there to support me with what I worked for my whole life,” Henderlich said.

Justice Department opens investigation into E. Jean Carroll, who accused Trump of assault: AP source
    E. Jean Carroll exits the New York Federal Court after former President Donald Trump appeared in court, Sept. 6, 2024, in New York. (AP Photo/Eduardo Munoz Alvarez, File)2026-05-28T13:02:07Z WASHINGTON (AP) — The Justice Department has opened an investigation into whether E. Jean Carroll, the longtime advice columnist who has said Donald Trump sexually assaulted her in a Manhattan department store 30 years ago, lied during the course of civil litigation against the Republican president, according to a person familiar with the matter. The person who confirmed the existence of the investigation was not authorized to publicly discuss an ongoing inquiry and spoke on the condition of anonymity. The perjury investigation is being led by the federal prosecutors’ office in Chicago, and acting Attorney General Todd Blanche has had no involvement because of his prior work as Trump’s personal attorney, the person said. Lawyers for Carroll did not immediately respond to requests for comment from The Associated Press on Thursday. It’s the latest in a series of investigations the Trump administration Justice Department has opened into perceived adversaries of the president. The actions, including securing an indictment last month against former FBI Director James Comey, have raised alarm from Democrats and former officials that an institution meant to make prosecutorial decisions independent of the White House is being weaponized. Carroll has said a flirtatious, chance encounter with Trump in 1996 at Bergdorf Goodman’s Fifth Avenue store ended violently. She said Trump slammed her against a dressing room wall, pulled down her tights and forced himself on her. Trump has called the allegations a “made-up scam.” A jury in 2023 found Trump liable for sexually abusing Carroll in 1996, awarding her $5 million. The following year, another jury awarded Carroll $83.3 million in a defamation case related to Trump’s social media attacks on her. Read More A court entry earlier this month said Trump won’t have to pay the award until the U.S. Supreme Court gets a chance to review the case or reject an appeal. The 2nd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals agreed to a request by one of Trump’s lawyers that it let the president delay the payment to Carroll, though it required that he post a $7.4 million bond to cover any additional interest costs, a request Carroll’s attorney had made. The Carroll investigation was first reported by CNN. CJ Abrams needs a change of scenery & one team makes the most sense
CJ Abrams has developed into one of Major League Baseball‘s premier shortstops this season and has become one of the biggest bright spots for the Washington Nationals. While Washington’s offense has surprisingly emerged as one of baseball’s best groups in 2026, the same cannot be said for the pitching staff. The Nationals’ pitching struggles have become impossible to ignore, and in a division filled with elite competition, that creates an uncomfortable reality. By the time July arrives, Washington could find itself looking at another season without a realistic path to postseason contention. If that happens, one difficult decision could make a lot of sense.MORE: Phillies Christopher Sanchez looks to extend incredible streak WednesdaySep 19, 2024; Chicago, Illinois, USA; Washington Nationals shortstop CJ Abrams (5) smiles after scoring against the Chicago Cubs during the first inning at Wrigley Field. Mandatory Credit: Kamil Krzaczynski-Imagn Images | Kamil Krzaczynski-Imagn ImagesTrading Stars Isn’t New for WashingtonThe Nationals have been here before. Over the last several years, the organization has shown a willingness to move major stars when it believed the long-term return justified the decision. Juan Soto, Trea Turner, and Max Scherzer all became part of major trades that helped reshape the organization.Trading Abrams would obviously be unpopular among fans. He is young, productive, and exactly the type of player teams usually build around. But moving a player of his caliber would likely bring back an enormous package of elite prospects and young talent.Sometimes teams have to think beyond the next few months and focus on building the strongest future possible.Tampa Bay Feels Like the Perfect MatchIf Washington ever seriously explored an Abrams trade, one team immediately stands out as a logical fit: the Tampa Bay Rays. The Rays currently lead the American League in wins, but there is still room for improvement offensively. Shortstop has been one of the weaker spots in the lineup, making Abrams a natural target.Unlike some big-market teams, Tampa Bay typically does not solve roster problems through expensive free-agent signings.Sep 6, 2025; Chicago, Illinois, USA; Washington Nationals shortstop CJ Abrams (5) celebrates after hitting a double against the Chicago Cubs during the first inning at Wrigley Field. Patriots QB Drake Maye weighs in on A.J. Brown trade buzz
FOXBOROUGH, Mass — Even Drake Maye hasn't been able to ignore all the noise regarding a potential A.J. Brown trade. "Yeah, I think it's part of the NFL," he told reporters on Wedneday following Day 2 of OTAs. "They throw names around here, around every team, depending on whoever looks best in the graphic in the jersey on social media."However, while he knows Brown is a talented player, Maye always stays where his feet are and is simply focusing on the receivers currently on the roster. "I'm really just focused. We’ve got some new guys in here that I'm working with," Maye continued. "I know there's a lot of talk with that, but if he ends up being on our team, great. What a great player. And if he doesn't, we’ve still got to work these guys here. It's a tough balance, but I know he's a phenomenal player."The Patriots did bring in a talented veteran receiver this offseason in Romeo Doubs, and Maye also spoke about how he's been building chemistry with the former Green Bay Packers weapon."I think it's working. I think it's building," Maye explained. "He's eager. That's the best thing you see in a new receiver, in a new offense like Romeo. It's different terminology. He's been in an offense for a couple of years with the same quarterback. I kind of have to learn how he likes to do things, how I like to see it when he's running routes. And I think it's just going to be better and better. He's a great player. He's already been a great player in this league. So, looking forward to building that connection and finding his role in this offense."That connection was evident when Maye hit Doubs with the first pass, threading the needle on the first throw of the 11-on-11 period during Wednesday's session. However, Doubs plus Brown will be a deadly combination, as well as the other weapons the Patriots have in the room. Now, it's just a waiting game until June 1. Bears listed among NFL's top tight ends groups
The Chicago Bears have one of the more high-powered and dynamic offenses across the NFL coming into the 2026 season, in large part due to the connection of head coach Ben Johnson and quarterback Caleb Williams. While the two were the focal point in leading the charge to Chicago's 11-win season and NFC North title last year, it was the entire offense, including offensive playmakers, that really made everything click, including rookie tight end Colston Loveland. While Loveland was an initial surprise pick at 10th overall in the 2025 NFL Draft, given veteran Cole Kmet, the pick more than paid off as he was one of the top rookies in the league. Johnson and the tight ends found plenty of success and ways for all to be involved, and then double downed this offseason by selecting another tight end in the 2026 NFL Draft, Sam Roush, who was selected in the third round.Chicago's depth and high-level talent at the tight end group, with Loveland, Kmet and Roush, has seen them jump into NFL.com's Top 5 tight end groups across the league.Caleb Williams' spectacular sophomore season can be partly attributed to the Bears' success in utilizing 12-personnel packages. Head coach Ben Johnson is on the verge of transforming Colston Loveland and Cole Kmet into an unstoppable pair that will force defensive coordinators to make tough decisions when attempting to slow a diverse offense with big-play threats all over the field. The TE tag team makes it nearly impossible for opponents to utilize bracket or double-coverage tactics on the perimeter, which should only help ascending WR1 Rome Odunze create even more problems. In 2025, Loveland (6-6, 241) and Kmet (6-6, 257) combined for 88 catches, 1,060 receiving yards and eight touchdowns. The duo should easily surpass those numbers this season, presuming more balls will head in their direction as Johnson continues to torment his play-calling foes by further embracing 12- and 13-personnel in his creative scheme. With third-round pick Sam Roush (6-6. 267) capable of stepping in as the TE3, the Bears have an emerging juggernaut with their big bodies on the field. There will once again be no shortage of weapons for Williams and the Bears offense, but the abilities of their tight ends brings a level of versatility to Chicago that is needed for all that Johnson likes to do. All three tight ends won't see themselves getting a high number of passing targets, but their contributions in pass blocking and more importantly, the run game, will be a reason that the Bears' tight ends standout among the NFL's best this year.Follow Bears Wire on Twitter, Facebook and InstagramThis article originally appeared on Bears Wire: Bears among NFL's top tight end groups with Loveland and Kmet

Buckeyes set for key visits as predictions continue to come their way
Brutus Buckeye interacts with fans as the team arrives for the Ohio State football spring game at Ohio Stadium in Columbus on April 18, 2026. | Adam Cairns/Columbus Dispatch / USA TODAY NETWORK via Imagn Images Safety target locks in Ohio State official visitOhio State’s 2027 recruiting class is already off to a strong start, but there is still plenty of work to be done in the defensive backfield. As things currently stand, the Buckeyes have just two defensive backs committed, and with the coaching staff continuing to evaluate prospects all across the country, it is clear that they are nowhere near finished at either cornerback or safety.Over the last few weeks, Ohio State has been active in extending new offers to players they believe fit what it is trying to build in the secondary. One of the latest names to earn an offer from the Buckeyes is Georgia safety Seth Williams, a prospect whose recruitment has taken off in a hurry.Williams, a 6-foot-2, 185-pound safety, was previously committed to Clemson before backing off that pledge and reopening his recruitment. While he may not be one of the highest-ranked prospects in the country at the moment — checking in as the No. 849 player nationally and 87th best safety in the 247Sports Composite — the offer sheet tells a much different story than the rankings do.In just the last month, Williams has seen programs like Georgia, Ohio State, Michigan, Auburn, Texas Tech, LSU, and others jump into the mix. That kind of attention does not come by accident, and it is safe to say his stock is trending in the right direction as more staffs get a closer look at what he brings to the table. For Ohio State, the next step will be getting Williams to campus, and the Buckeyes are set to have that opportunity. Williams has an official visit scheduled to Columbus for June 19, giving Matt Guerrieri and the rest of the Ohio State staff a chance to make their pitch in person.Of course, the Buckeyes will have plenty of competition. Georgia, Florida, and LSU are also among the programs expected to get visits, and with Williams being a Peach State product, the Bulldogs are always going to be a team to watch. Still, Ohio State has never been shy about going head-to-head with the SEC for defensive talent, and this recruitment appears to be no different.Williams is one of the faster-rising names in the 2027 cycle, and while the Buckeyes may have arrived a little later than some, they are firmly in the conversation. Now, the goal will be simple: get him to Columbus, show him what the program has to offer, and leave a strong enough impression to stay near the top of his recruitment moving forward.New prediction favors Ohio State for 4-star athleteWhen it comes to trying to figure out where a recruitment is trending, prediction features are usually a pretty solid place to start. Whether it be the 247Sports Crystal Ball or On3’s RPM, these forecasts are not the end-all, be-all by any means, but they are submitted for a reason. For Ohio State, the Buckeyes have been on the right side of some recent prediction momentum, and the hope now is that those projections turn into actual commitments sooner rather than later.Looking at one of the latest examples, Ohio State picked up a new RPM pick on Wednesday from Alex Gleitman, who logged his prediction in favor of the Buckeyes for in-state standout Deontay Malone.A Massillon Washington product, Malone is a 5-foot-11, 175-pound athlete and one of the better prospects in the state of Ohio for the 2027 cycle. Per the 247Sports Composite rankings, Malone checks in as the No. 303 player nationally and the 18th-best athlete in the class. Holding double-digit offers and a four-star status, Malone is certainly a player the Buckeyes would love to keep home for the next several years.Fortunately for Ohio State, things seem to be trending in the right direction.Set to be back on campus this weekend for the start of his official visit, Malone is one of several key targets the Buckeyes will host during what is shaping up to be a major recruiting weekend in Columbus. With the summer official visit season now in full swing, this is typically when programs start to see some of their biggest recruiting wins come together, and Ohio State would certainly like Malone to be part of that next wave.As always, predictions are not commitments until the prospect makes things official. Still, where there is smoke, there is usually fire, and right now the smoke around Malone’s recruitment appears to be pointing toward Ohio State.Keeping top in-state talent home is always a priority for the Buckeyes, and landing Malone would be another strong step toward building out what already has the makings of an impressive 2027 class.Pennsylvania offensive tackle sets visit to ColumbusWith visit season continuing to take shape across the country, Ohio State is still seeing its list of expected visitors grow by the day. The Buckeyes have already done a solid job getting several key targets to make plans for Columbus, and now another offensive line prospect can be added to the group.Taking to social media on Wednesday to announce his summer schedule, 2028 offensive tackle Tyrie Davis-Winn shared that he will be making a trip to Ohio State on June 10.A Pennsylvania native, Davis-Winn already has the frame that college programs are going to love. Standing at 6-foot-8 and weighing in at 270 pounds, he is listed as the No. 213 player nationally and 23rd best offensive tackle in the 2028 class per the 247Sports Composite rankings. With an Ohio State offer already in hand, getting Davis-Winn to campus this early in his recruitment is certainly a positive development for the Buckeyes. Offensive line coach Tyler Bowen has been busy building relationships in the trenches, and having a player of Davis-Winn’s caliber make the trip to Columbus gives Ohio State another opportunity to make an early impression. There is still a long way to go in this recruitment with Davis-Winn being part of the 2028 cycle, but visits like this are how programs begin laying the groundwork. For Ohio State, getting him on campus in June is a win, and now the goal will be to make sure the visit gives him plenty of reasons to keep the Buckeyes near the top of his recruitment moving forward.**New Date Added**Summer Schedule 💪🏾🙏🏽✈️May 17th- South Carolina May 30th- Texas A&MMay 31st- University of TexasJune 5th- Notre DameJune 10th- Ohio StateJune 15th- Georgia TechJune 16th- University of GeorgiaJune 18th- Penn StateJune 20th- Syracuse**June 21st-… pic.twitter.com/5lbt6LdKqK— Ty Winn 4⭐️ ‘28| OT| 6’8 270lbs (@Ty_Winn09) May 27, 2026

The veteran struggled during his brief stint with Big Blue, going 6-for-9 on field goals and 13-for-14 on extra points across his time with both the Falcons and Giants last season.Koo's time with the Giants is highlighted by a humiliating field goal blunder that coincidentally saved a man's life.A talented veteran and former Pro Bowler, Koo earned that honor with the Falcons in 2020. He will look to rebound in 2026 after an underwhelming 2025 campaign and could quickly earn the Jets’ starting kicker job.The Jets currently have kickers Cade York and Lenny Krieg on the roster. Mike Vrabel Reveals Communication With Kayshon Boutte After Skipping OTAs
Mike Vrabel Reveals Communication With Kayshon Boutte After Skipping OTAs originally appeared on NESN. Add NESN as a Preferred Source by clicking here.New England Patriots head coach Mike Vrabel said he is communicating with wide receiver Kayshon Boutte, who isn’t at OTAs.Boutte is entering his contract year and didn’t attend OTAs as his name has come up in trade rumors in a potential trade for A.J. Brown. However, he isn’t attending OTAs but Vrabel said he’s still talking to him and making sure he’s putting in work.“We're onto really just the preseason,” Vrabel said on Wednesday. “That’s what we have to look at it as. I have a great amount of respect for Kayshon, and watching him mature and grow through the entire time that we spent together, that's a credit to Kayshon, that's a credit to Todd Downing. “And just the communication is, "Hey, how are you doing? One, you're working hard?" And he said, "Yeah, I like where I'm working out at." "Okay. We'll be here ready to coach you when you're here." That's been very positive, and I would imagine that he would pick up where he left off and grow on the season that he had last year.”New England selected Boutte in the sixth round of the 2023 NFL Draft and has been a solid contributor for the Patriots offense for the past two years. He recorded 33 receptions for 551 yards and six touchdowns last season.Yet, despite being an impact receiver, Boutte appears to be frustrated with his role with the team as he’s skipping OTAs.More NFL: Drake Maye Feeling 'More Comfortable' In Year 2 Of Josh McDaniels' Offense

It's time for NCAA postseason baseball. USC travels to Texas for the NCAA College Station Regional hosted by Texas A&M. The Trojans play Texas State in their opening game of the weekend. A&M hosts Lamar. Aggies Wire previewed the regional. Let's start with the Texas A&M subsection: "Earley's turnaround in his second season at the helm has been outstanding. Texas A&M went from missing the postseason in 2025 to hosting its 14th regional this season. That success has been due in large part to one of the most explosive lineups in the country. The Aggies ranked third in the SEC with a .301 batting average and second with 114 home runs, 23 of which have come from veteran outfielder Caden Sorrell. This squad's strongest quality resides at the plate, but lingering unknowns on the mound could prove to be costly if the Aggies can't complete consistent outings."On Lamar:"The 2026 Southland Conference Tournament champions were given a rematch against Texas A&M to open the College Station Regional, after suffering a 25-5 run-rule loss to the Aggies back on Feb. 24. The Cardinals remain one of the top mid-major programs in college baseball, however. Lamar head coach Will Davis was named the new head coach at Houston this week, but he will remain at the helm of the Cardinals until the conclusion of their NCAA Tournament run. While their performances at the plate have been lackluster at times, Lamar's pitching duo of Travis Lutz and Chris Oliver sit atop the Southland in ERA this season."On Texas State:"Texas State could be one of the most underrated teams in the postseason. The Bobcats finished seventh in a stacked Sunbelt Conference in 2026, while securing six Quad 1 wins. They split the non-conference series against Texas A&M, dropping the March 17 contest 9-6 and claiming a 9-8 victory on April 7. Texas State's statistics don't jump off the chart, but its lineup features electric hitters like Jaquae Janicki, Manny Salas and Dawson Park, who all rank top-10 in the SBC in home runs this season. The Bobcats rank first in the SBC with 110 home runs, which is 29 more than Southern Miss, which has the second-most in the conference."On USC:"The Trojans have been excellent in Quad 2, Quad 3 and Quad 4 matchups, but have failed to capitalize on any of their Quad 1 contests, entering postseason play with a 1-11 record against opponents in that category. USC's biggest strength has been excellent pitching, which finished second as a unit behind the No. 1-seed UCLA Bruins. The team's 3.48 ERA and 577 strikeouts are the best marks on the mound out of all teams in the Bryan-College Station Regional. That success has been led by Mason Edwards, who boasts a 1.43 ERA and 160 strikeouts, which ranks first in the Big Ten this season."This article originally appeared on Trojans Wire: USC tries to stop top-seeded Texas A&M at College Station Regional

Giants restructure left tackle Andrew Thomas' contract to clear cap space, AP source says
The New York Giants have restructured the contract of starting left tackle Andrew Thomas by converting base salary to a roster bonus to clear $6.46 million in cap space, a person familiar with the situation told The Associated Press on Thursday. The person spoke on condition of anonymity because the move was not being announced.Reworking Thomas' deal comes in the middle of offseason workouts and with No. 5 pick Arvell Reese still not yet signed to his rookie contract. The rest of the draft class, including No. 10 pick Francis “Sisi” Mauigoa, is all signed. The Giants now have just under $12 million in salary cap space, according to the NFL Players Association’s public accounting. Reese's contract is expected to take up a big chunk of that, so more maneuvering could take place in the coming months before the season begins in September.Thomas, 27, is one of the team's highest-paid players and the anchor of an offensive line that showed improvement last season from previous years. New coach John Harbaugh said Thomas was dealing with foot and shoulder injuries that led the staff to limit use on the field during organized team activities.“They have a nice ramp-up planned for me,” Thomas said last week. “Just a precautionary thing. Obviously, what we care about is September, being ready, so I’ve been trusting that. It’s definitely tough sometimes because I want to push it and I want to get better, but I’m trying to trust the process to make sure I’m ready to go when it counts.”Thomas had surgery to repair a Lisfranc injury in his right foot in October 2024 and missed the first two games of last season before returning Sept. 21. A hamstring injury caused him to miss the final two games, but now it's a lingering shoulder problem that is being managed.“Something that I’ve been dealing with,” Thomas said. “I think I’m in a good place.”___AP NFL: https://apnews.com/hub/NFL

Headway Therapy Patients Forced to Scan Their Faces to Keep Getting Care
Headway, a popular online therapy platform, says it will require clients and providers to undergo biometric scanning, and there’s no way to opt out other than leaving the platform. On April 3, Headway sent an email to clients informing them of the upcoming requirement: “To make sure Headway stays a safe and reliable place to get care, you'll soon be asked to verify your identity by taking a picture of a valid government-issued photo ID in your portal,” the email said, which a user shared with 404 Media. “As part of this process, you'll also be asked to take a clear photo of your face to confirm your identity. The facial image is never used for anything but identity verification.” The facial scan involves using your devices’ camera and moving your head from side to side. The email said that the platform was asking clients to verify their identity “proactively” so that they’d have “plenty of time to complete this,” but didn’t specify when identity verification would be required. “We're not asking you to verify because of any specific behaviors or concerns,” Headway said in the email. “It's a requirement for anyone seeking medication management on Headway.” 💡Do you know anything else about biometric scanning in healthcare or therapy? I would love to hear from you. Using a non-work device, you can message me securely on Signal at sam.404. Otherwise, send me an email at sam@404media.co.Headway says identity verification for patients “is rolling out in waves over the coming weeks, starting with patients of prescribers,” but eventually all providers will be required to undergo facial scanning. Providers and clients I spoke to told me they haven’t yet needed to do this step, and the uncertainty of when they’ll be required to hand over their biometric data—and if they don’t, lose access to the platform and their clients or care—is adding to their concern about the process. Many mental health providers or the practices they work for use Headway to help them get credentialed with insurance companies and process billing and other administrative tasks. Through Headway, providers can be in-network with a much wider variety of insurance plans. Headway is telling clients in customer support chats and emails that it will use the third-party vendor Persona to verify identities, according to emails viewed by 404 Media. Persona is part of the portfolio of Founder's Fund, Peter Thiel’s investment firm, according to Founder’s Fund’s website. Earlier this year, Discord ended its extremely short-lived contract with Persona, but many other platforms use it, including Doordash, Uber, and Roblox. In its biometric data policy, Headway states that when processing biometric data, it will “Inform each User in writing of the manner in which the User may opt out of the collection, processing, storage or usage of their Biometric Data.” But last month, 404 Media asked Headway if users can opt out. “No, identity verification is currently a required safety step for patients seeing prescribers as part of our commitment to safe, verified care,” a Headway spokesperson said. “We’ve let patients know they can contact Headway support for a manual review in extenuating circumstances.” Users and providers haven’t been able to get a straight answer about when this requirement is starting or how opting out works other than not using Headway at all. A customer support person at Headway told one client that they can choose not to undergo identity verification, but if they do, they won’t be able to meet with a prescriber on Headway, according to copies of the chat viewed by 404 Media. "Do I give up my privacy or do I burn all my progress and then just go to a different company and try and find somebody else, and start over?"Headway said in an email to providers that sessions “may be auto-cancelled if verification is incomplete,” and “providers in your group will be unable to confirm sessions without completing their own identity verification.” One client who’s used Headway for several years and sees providers for both medication management and talk therapy told me that “opting out” as Headway defines it isn’t as simple as switching platforms. “It's not just a consumer choice thing,” they said. “Healthcare is a totally different thing. I've talked to my providers, and they're not on any alternative [platforms]. It's possible that your provider is also on some alternative, but that's not the case for me.” Switching providers would mean starting over, finding new providers that could be a good fit and take their insurance, and hoping there’s no lapse in treatment in the meantime. “It's just not a good situation,” they said. “It’s a rock and a hard place. Do I give up my privacy or do I burn all my progress and then just go to a different company and try and find somebody else, and start over?”The client I spoke to said they were especially concerned in light of Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s intentions to link databases of autism patients using federal health insurance programs including Medicare and Medicaid. Kennedy has also said the Center for Disease Control is “finally confronting the long-taboo question of whether SSRIs and other psychoactive drugs contribute to mass violence,” and has recently targeted antidepressants, which psychiatrists say is a dangerous oversimplification of millions of Americans’ experiences with mental health and medications. Headway is also informing providers—whether they prescribe medication or not—that facial scanning and identity verification is coming soon, and is coaching them on how to talk to clients who are wary of handing over their biometric data, to convince them to go through with it. The platform is also telling providers who haven’t gone through identity verification themselves that their payments might be restricted. “We’re reaching out because our payment processor let us know that your account is missing information that will soon impact and restrict your payouts from Headway,” an email Headway sent to one provider said. It directed them to use a link to update their payment information to become verified, but the link in the email didn’t go to a verification process, the provider who received it told me. The platform hasn’t informed providers or patients about when identity verification or facial scans will start being required. Headway did not respond to my questions about when specific groups would be required to undergo identity verification or if verification status will affect provider’s payments. A spokesperson for Headway told 404 Media: “Confirming that Headway has recently started to enforce identity verification to our network. To clarify—today, we require identity verification for patients receiving prescriptions through Headway, as prescribers have a heightened obligation to confirm they are treating a verified patient before writing a prescription, and this process helps them meet that standard. It also protects patients by ensuring that prescriptions, medical records, and billing are tied to the right person.” “Identity verification is currently a required safety step for patients seeing prescribers as part of our commitment to safe, verified care. We’ve let patients know they can contact Headway support for a manual review in extenuating circumstances,” the spokesperson added. The Headway spokesperson said identity verification “is run through a HIPAA-compliant, SOC 2-certified platform,” and identity data “is stored in a centralized, encrypted, access-controlled record with detailed audit logs.” Headway’s site says the new requirements are “similar to showing your ID at the front desk of a doctor's office.” But facial scanning and biometric data isn’t the same as presenting identification at the doctor or at a store. Privacy experts agree that online identity verification systems like those now required to access adult content and age-restricted material in many places around the world pose new and different risks, including the possibility of breaches, third-party sellers, and invasive tracking. Headway says it won’t use this data for marketing, and that it will protect it from hacks. Users are forced to take the platform’s word for it.The Headway spokesperson claimed that the response from users to the new requirements has been “mostly positive.” But providers I spoke to said they’re concerned and considering leaving the platform because of it. One provider I spoke to, who is a psychotherapist and doesn’t prescribe medication but received emails from Headway informing them of the impending changes anyway, told me they feel “frankly afraid” because there’s no option to opt-out other than severing care, especially for patients. “When I initially got the email indicating that they would be rolling out biometric scanning, my stomach dropped,” they said. “The email indicated that they would start with prescribers and their clients and then move onto everyone else. My mind started racing, what are the ethics around this? Where is this data going? The only time I've had to do a biometric scan is to do something for the IRS. This is not common practice in my field.” They said they’re not sure yet if they’ll stay on Headway. “It feels values-inconsistent to continue to work them for a variety of reasons, but this perhaps is the nail in the coffin for me,” they said. “In some ways I don't have a choice because I am not independently credentialed with all of the plans that I am credentialed with through Headway. Meaning, I cannot see those clients outside of Headway. I do not (and will not) want to abandon those clients.” Another provider I spoke to said that although there’s a lot of conversation happening among providers about leaving the platform, it’s easier said than done. “So many of us need this for our income, so it's a real sacrifice” to stop using Headway at this point, they said. “That's kind of the dilemma people are in.”Joseph Cox contributed reporting.

Fantasy Baseball: Should we buy low on Manny Machado, plus more skill vs. luck verdicts
It’s been a strange start to the season. We have veteran hitters struggling, with rookies and unexpected contributors like Zack Gelof and JJ Bleday making some noise. This week, we’re looking at four veteran hitters with a decent track record who aren’t quite meeting expectations through the first two months of the season. We’ll examine their skills and luck factors to identify whether their skills indicate better production moving forward. Manny Machado, Padres (97% Rostered)Should we be buying low on Manny Machado? As we shift toward the end of May, we probably wouldn’t have expected Machado to hit nine home runs with a .169 batting average. Machado has been unfortunate, with a .173 BABIP in 2026 compared to a .296 BABIP in his career. From a plate discipline standpoint, most of Machado’s metrics look similar to his career averages. That’s evident in Machado’s 76.7% contact rate, 28.8% chase rate and an 11% swinging-strike rate. Machado continues to pull the ball and elevate it in the air around 41% of the time in 2026, within 1-2 percentage points from recent seasons and his career averages. Knowing that, Machado’s BABIP should regress because there haven’t been drastic changes in his batted ball profile. For instance, if Machado was hitting way more flyballs than usual, we could understand the significant drop in BABIP. Machado still boasts strong power metrics. That’s evident by Machado’s 74.1 mph bat speed, yet his barrel rate per plate appearance has been cut in half in 2026 (4.6%) compared to 2025 (9.3%). Machado still hits the ball hard, with a 101.1 mph Exit Velocity 50 or EV50 (No. 87), which accounts for the average of the hardest 50% of a player’s batted balls. For context, Machado’s EV50 fell from 103.4 mph (No. 28), aligning with the lower barrel rate. If Machado’s power metrics don’t return closer to 2025 and recent seasons, that will lead us toward adjusting our expectations for a significant fantasy contributor at the position. Look to buy low on Machado.Vladimir Guerrero Jr., Blue Jays (99% Rostered)If you had a trivia question about which hitter has more stolen bases than home runs in late May, Vladimir Guerrero Jr. probably wouldn’t be one of them. Guerrero has three home runs and five stolen bases as we hit the end of May. Though Guerrero hasn’t popped off the page, the projections suggest he could have a repeat of the 2025 season. Guerrero historically had near-elite plate discipline, given his higher walk rate (12.8%) than his strikeout rate (10.6%). Interestingly, Guerrero has been swinging (48.3% swing rate) and chasing (31.2%) more often in 2026. However, Guerrero has a similar career swing rate (47.5%), while chasing four points more than his career norm (27.1%).Vladimir Guerrero Jr.'s 15-game rolling FB, chase rate and HR/F. (Photo by Corbin Young/FanGraphs)Hitting too many ground balls remains an issue for Guerrero, with a 46-47% groundball rate. That directly impacts his home run luck (5.4% HR/F) in 2026 compared to a 17.1% career average. We should see Guerrero’s home run rate regress favorably with his near-elite power. He continues to swing the bat hard (76.2 mph), but we’ve seen his barrel rate per plate appearance drop to 5.6% in 2026 compared to 9% in 2025, which would be similar to his career norm.Guerrero consistently hits the ball hard, but the launch angles have been an issue. Furthermore, Guerrero’s launch-angle consistency remains a challenge because he hits the power into the ground often, yet he typically boasts a high-end barrel rate. If hitters hit the ball into the ground often, we want them to destroy flyballs and line drives. For context, Guerrero averaged a 95.7 mph average exit velocity on flyballs and line drives (No. 44) in 2025 after 97.1 mph (2024). Unfortunately, Guerrero’s average exit velocity on flyballs and line drives has drastically fallen to 91.3 mph (No. 204) in 2026. Guerrero’s 2026 season looks like the outlier from an exit velocity standpoint, potentially making him a buy-low candidate since he hasn’t exploded in the power department. Gunnar Henderson, Orioles (99% Rostered)The power and speed have been there for Gunnar Henderson, with 13 home runs and six steals. However, Henderson’s .222 batting average and career-low OBP (.274 OBP) have been the main concerns. Henderson was typically a batting average (.265), on-base (.339) and points-league asset in his career. So, what’s going on under the hood?Henderson has been more aggressive by swinging more (49.9% swing rate) and chasing more often (35.6%). For context, Henderson’s swing rate was four points lower (46.2%) with a significantly lower chase rate (26.2%) throughout his career. His swinging-strike rate has increased to 11.7% in 2026, not much higher than his career norm (10.7%). Since Henderson has been more aggressive by chasing more often, it makes sense to see his walk rate dip to a career low (6%). Hopefully, Henderson starts to revert toward his career averages by being more patient to raise his OBP. The Automated Ball-Strike (ABS) System strike zones consist of shadow and chase sections. The shadow area of the strike zone covers the outside edge, in and outside of the zone. Meanwhile, the chase area is beyond the shadow section. Here’s Henderson’s breakdown:Gunnar Henderson's Statcast strike zone breakdown. (Photo by Corbin Young/Yahoo Sports)Henderson has been swinging more in the shadow area (58.4%) and chase zones (31.5%) in 2026. That aligns with his overall chase rate, but breaking down the zones by shadow and chase provides a more detailed look at where he swings. For context, Henderson’s career swing rate in the shadow area (50.8%) and chase sections (20.1%) have been significantly lower in his career. That’s something to monitor if Henderson continues to chase and post a lower OBP.Henderson has shown a slight change in approach by pulling the ball more (47.9% pull rate) and elevating the ball at a higher rate (39.4%). When hitters hit more flyballs, it can impact their BABIP. That’s what we’re seeing for Henderson, though his flyball rate isn’t extreme toward 50% yet. Both Henderson’s pull and flyball rates have been 6-7 percentage points higher than his career norms. That’s typically an optimal approach for power, especially since he often hit groundballs, with a career average of 47.2%.Henderson continues to have high-end bat speed (74.5 mph) and a consistent 6% barrel rate per plate appearance. Both metrics have been within one point of his career averages. Theoretically, pulling the ball into the air with strong exit velocities should lead to optimal results, but the batted ball results have been lower in 2026. The visual below shows the results and exit velocities on Henderson’s pulled flyballs. Results of Gunnar Henderson's pulled flyballs. (Photo by Corbin Young/Yahoo Sports)Henderson had a wOBA over 1.000 throughout his career on pulled flyballs, but it has been lower in 2026 (.921 wOBA). Notably, Henderson’s .580 expected wOBA has been lower than recent seasons, though it has increased gradually throughout the season. His average exit velocity on pulled flyballs in 2026 (96.2 mph) is similar to 2025. However, Henderson’s barrel rate per plate appearance has nearly been cut in half in 2026 (28%) on pulled flyballs. The 2026 data could be the outlier, meaning Henderson’s barrel rate and results on pulled flyballs could regress favorably. The projections suggest Henderson could push for nearly 30 home runs and 20+ stolen bases. Henderson’s main sticking point will be the batting average and OBP for different league formats. There probably isn’t a window to buy on Henderson because of his power and speed production, but I would still lean on the track record and strong tools, expecting the batting average and OBP to rise closer to the career norms.Geraldo Perdomo, Diamondbacks (92% Rostered)After a peak season in 2025 — with 20 home runs, 27 stolen bases, nearly 200 combined runs plus RBI and a .290 batting average — Geraldo Perdomo has been off to a slow start. He has two home runs and eight steals, yet only a .223 batting average. Like other hitters, Perdomo’s BABIP is down in 2026 (.248), the lowest since 2022 for him. He still has been hitting tons of line drives (24.7%), which would be a career high. There’s a good chance that Perdomo’s BABIP regresses closer to his career norm, since hitters who hit plenty of line drives tend to run higher BABIPs.Perdomo still possesses near-elite plate discipline, given his 89.8% contact rate and a 21.1% chase rate. That aligns with Perdomo’s higher walk rate (14.5%) than strikeout rate (13.2%), supporting his strong OBP. He should continue being a value in points and OBP leagues, with the potential for a better batting average in those formats. He wasn’t known for his power, as he compiled his way to 20 home runs across 720 plate appearances in 2025. Perdomo had a 4.6% barrel rate per plate appearance in 2025, which has dropped to 2.8% in 2026. He has been hitting more ground balls in 2026, which impacts his ability to elevate the ball. Perdomo has a 45.3% groundball rate in 2026, up from 37.5% in 2025. That coincided with Perdomo hitting a career-high 9.9% home run per flyball rate (HR/F) in 2025, which has dropped to 4.4% in 2026. Play 2026 Soccer Pick 'Em with FOX One and make your picks for the world's biggest soccer tournamentThankfully, Perdomo has continued to run often, with a 18% stolen base opportunity rate in 2026. That’s slightly higher than his stolen base opportunity percentage in 2025 (15%). He should steal around 25 bases again, but the home runs might regress to around 10, as the projections indicate. If Perdomo’s batting average doesn’t rise, it will be a disappointing season from a fantasy standpoint. A hitter with 10 home runs, 25 stolen bases and a lower batting average isn’t what fantasy managers expected if they drafted him. Since it doesn’t appear like there have been any skill declines, we’ll bet on Perdomo’s batting average increasing closer to the .270 or .280 mark. Perdomo likely has more value in season-long rotisserie and points leagues instead of head-to-head formats because he needs volume to compile fantasy value. It all ultimately looks like a down season for Perdomo in 2026.

Teenager Kouame matches Nadal 20-year record in stunning French Open win
France’s Moise Kouame has become the youngest man since Rafael Nadal in 2003 to reach the third round of a Grand Slam with a stunning match tie break victory against Paraguay’s Adolfo Daniel Vallejo.Kouame became the youngest Grand Slam match winner for 17 years when, at 17, he beat former US Open champion Marin Cilic in the first roundKouame’s 6-3 7-5 6-3 6-2 6-6 (10-8) defeat of Vallejo came in front of a partisan Parisian home support at Roland Garros, who cheered the local boy to the very last point as he defied Vallejo’s charge. The 22-year-old is ranked 71st in the world – compared to Kouame’s 318 listing – and recovered from a narrow second set defeat to storm level from two sets down, then moving to the verge of victory at 5-3 in the fifth, only for his teenage opponent to break back.Whether it was Kouame’s energy first, or that of the crowd, the crescendo almost spilled over in the following game as the crowd had to be settled and nearly impinged on points.Vallejo was not perturbed and produced his own fire in searing Parisian heat to keep Kouame and his feverish following at bay.Kouame held serve with the aide of two stunning backhands down the line that brought the crowd to their feet and took the match to a tie break – the youngster responded with a showmanship and swagger that suggests a star may just have been born. His feat, matching that of Nadal at Wimbledon 20 years ago, was pushed to a one-sided finale by another backhand in the his final break of serve in the longest game of the match before holding his own game. The ten-point match tie break that followed saw Kouame storm to the first five points, only for his plucky Paraguayan opponent to once again prove own resilience by drawing level at 6 points each.By 7-7, Kouame somehow produced his quickest serve of the day for an ace that was only the latest in a long line of part tricks. The backhands and drop shots wowed all the way, but it was a cross-court forehand that broke Vallejo to move to 9-8. Then can the moment with the hold of serve, as well as an awful lot of nerve. As the home crowd and their new found star soaked in the moment – it would appear a new Parisian love affair has just begun.

Eagles OTA depth chart offers clues at several key positions
The Philadelphia Eagles are only in the opening stages of organized team activities, but an early look at the depth chart already offers several revealing clues about roster construction, positional battles, and the organization's long-term vision heading into the 2026 season.Context remains important.Philadelphia's Wednesday practice featured several notable absences during the voluntary portion of the offseason program, creating a depth chart that reflected both availability and experimentation rather than firm regular-season roles. The Eagles had near-full attendance on Tuesday, aside from wide receiver A.J. Brown, but Wednesday's session included additional veterans and injured players who had been missing from practice.Brown remains the most significant storyline. The star wide receiver has skipped workouts since the offseason program began on April 20, and his expected trade to the New England Patriots is widely expected to become official on June 1, once financial and compensation details are finalized. His absence dramatically reshaped the look of the offense throughout the session.Without Brown present, DeVonta Smith operated clearly as the Eagles' No. 1 receiver and received the majority of first-team targets from quarterback Jalen Hurts, according to Jeff McLane of the Philadelphia Inquirer. Smith already entered the offseason positioned for an expanded offensive role, and Wednesday's practice reinforced the organization's confidence in his ability to function as the focal point of the passing game.First-round rookie Makai Lemon also stood out immediately. The explosive rookie saw significant work with the first-team offense both in the slot and occasionally outside, an early indication that Philadelphia intends to feature him prominently within Sean Mannion's new offensive system. Lemon's versatility fits the motion-heavy, spacing-oriented offense the Eagles are expected to install this season.Johnny Wilson also drew attention after missing all of last season. The second-year receiver rotated with portions of the first-team offense while Hollywood Brown and Elijah Moore primarily worked with the second unit. Dontayvion Wicks was entirely absent from practice. At quarterback, the backup competition remains fluid. One day after Tanner McKee received most of the second-team work behind Hurts, veteran Andy Dalton handled the majority of backup reps on Wednesday. The alternating workload suggests the Eagles are still evaluating the pecking order behind Hurts entering training camp. Along the offensive line, new coach Chris Kuper offered perhaps the clearest insight into both short-term depth and long-term developmental planning. With Lane Johnson absent, rookie Markel Bell operated as the first-team right tackle. The third-round selection continues drawing attention internally as a potential long-term successor to Johnson, whose future Hall of Fame career is entering its later stages. Jordan Mailata, Landon Dickerson, Cam Jurgens, and Tyler Steen rounded out the rest of the first-team offensive line. One of the more intriguing developments involved second-year lineman Myles Hinton. Primarily viewed as an offensive tackle, Hinton worked at both guard spots Wednesday, signaling either a permanent positional transition or an organizational effort to increase his versatility entering roster cutdown season.Philadelphia has long prioritized cross-training along the offensive front, particularly among reserve linemen expected to fill multiple roles on game day.Rookie interior lineman Drew Kendall also saw work at guard while Jake Majors operated as the second-team center ahead of Willie Lampkin. The alignment suggested Majors may currently hold an early advantage in the competition for the primary backup center role behind Jurgens.Defensively, several notable names were absent.Jalen Carter, Jihaad Campbell, and rookie pass rusher Keyshawn James-Newby all missed practice, while Brandon Graham was also away from the facility. Graham is expected to come off the active roster after June 1 as part of a contractual maneuver, although a return for a 17th season has not been ruled out. Campbell remains in recovery from offseason shoulder surgery. Defensive coordinator Vic Fangio recently indicated the rookie linebacker is expected back for the start of training camp, where he is projected to star in the role vacated by Nakobe Dean. The Eagles did receive encouraging news in the secondary.Safety Drew Mukuba participated fully after returning from a fractured ankle during his rookie season. Rookie safeties Cole Wisniewski and Tucker Large, along with linebacker Chandler Martin, watched practice from the sideline while recovering from injuries. The safety competition itself also appears worth monitoring closely.Marcus Epps and Michael Carter II appear positioned for an important battle depending on how often Cooper DeJean aligns in the slot. Philadelphia's defensive flexibility under Fangio could create interchangeable roles throughout the secondary, making versatility particularly valuable entering camp. The Eagles are still months away from final roster decisions, and voluntary OTA depth charts rarely provide definitive answers. What they can reveal, however, are organizational priorities, developmental plans, and early indications of where competition may intensify once training camp arrives.Wednesday's practice provided several of those clues. This article originally appeared on Eagles Wire: Early Eagles OTA depth chart reveals key roster battles now

Injured Neymar could miss Brazil's World Cup opener
Neymar has not played for Brazil since October 2023 when he suffered a knee injury during his country's 2-0 loss to Uruguay [Getty Images]Brazil forward Neymar will not play in his country's upcoming friendly matches and could also miss their World Cup opener. The 34-year-old has been ruled out for "two to three weeks" with a calf injury. That would mean he will not play in the home friendly against Panama on Sunday and also against Egypt in a friendly in Cleveland, Ohio on Saturday, 6 June.Five-time winners Brazil begin their World Cup Group C campaign on 13 June against Morocco in New Jersey, then face Haiti in Philadelphia on 19 June and Scotland on 24 June in Miami.Brazil team doctor Rodrigo Lasmar revealed Neymar's injury at a news conference and said: "Neymar underwent all the medical tests, which concluded with an MRI scan revealing a grade two calf injury, not just swelling. He is expected to be cleared in two to three weeks."A grade two calf strain is a moderate injury involving a partial tear of the muscle fibres that requires rest and rehabilitation.Neymar, who has scored 79 goals in 128 international appearances, had joined the team on Tuesday but missed Wednesday's first training session and was sent for tests after complaints of swelling in his right calf. The diagnosis differs from that presented by his Santos club doctor prior to the squad announcement. Rodrigo Zogaib had stated the problem was merely swelling and that Neymar would arrive fit to begin training.Brazil manager Carlo Ancelotti had already been without Arsenal defender Gabriel and forward Gabriel Martinelli for the Panama game because of their involvement in the Champions League final on 30 May against Paris St-Germain.Defender Marquinhos, who captains both Brazil and PSG, is also unavailable for the same reason.Neymar has not played for the Selecao since 2023 amid his struggles with injuries but was selected for the World Cup ahead of Chelsea striker Joao Pedro and Tottenham forward Richarlison.Making the squad means Neymar could play at a fourth World Cup, having also represented Brazil at the 2014, 2018 and 2022 tournaments. In the 2014 competition, which was held in Brazil, Neymar was in tears as he was carried off on a stretcher after suffering a back injury during their quarter-final win over Colombia.Italian Ancelotti revealed his squad at a ceremony in Rio de Janeiro and fans cheered when Neymar's name was announced.Ancelotti, 66, who was appointed by Brazil last year, said at the time: "We spent the entire year analysing Neymar. We realised that in this last period he had continuity and was in good physical condition."Neymar included in Brazil's 26-man World Cup squadWorld Cup fixtures and group standingsHow to watch the World Cup on the BBCEverything you need to know about the World Cup

Mets free agency and trade plan for Tigers' Tarik Skubal revealed by ex-MLB GM
Mets free agency and trade plan for Tigers' Tarik Skubal revealed by ex-MLB GM originally appeared on The Sporting News. Add The Sporting News as a Preferred Source by clicking here. The 2026 season for the New York Mets has been a complete disaster. With how things are trending, it would not be a surprise for the Mets to wind up as major trade deadline sellers. It's a frustrating season so far, especially since if they weren't struggling so much, they would be clear suitors in the trade sweepstakes of Detroit Tigers ace Tarik Skubal. But what actually are the Mets' plans when it comes to Skubal? Former MLB general manager Jim Bowden of The Athletic revealed what the Mets plan is likely to be with Skubal, and it's actually an ideal plan for the Mets now and into the future.Mets' trade plan with Tarik Skubal is ideal"The Mets are not getting back in the race and are certainly not going to trade prospects for Skubal," Bowden writes. "Instead, they will wait until he reaches free agency when they can once again play checkbook baseball and add without giving up players."Even though the Mets would almost assuredly be major suitors for Skubal if they had a better record, this outcome might actually be better.Instead of spending premium assets and top prospects to acquire Skubal for just half a season, the Mets will be able to keep those players, and then sign Skubal in free agency when they're more serious contenders. For now, the Mets' struggles might be frustrating, but if it keeps them from spending too much on a trade for Skubal, then it might not be all bad.MORE: Mets projected to still sell at trade deadline by ex-MLB GMThis plan would be the ideal outcome for the Mets. In free agency, the Mets are sure to be among the top landing spots for the back-to-back Cy Young left-hander.So, while trading for Skubal to help the team this season would be nice, with how the club is struggling, their most likely plan will be to pursue Skubal once he hits free agency after the 2026 season.Mets fans will have to be a bit patient to acquire Skubal, but if they can keep their premium assets and still sign Skubal long-term in free agency, it might be a much better outcome than trading a massive haul to get a few months of Skubal and risk losing him in free agency afterwards.More MLB news:5 reasons to believe in Jordan Walker's breakout for CardinalsRoman Anthony might’ve been overhyped for Red SoxDodgers still have a Roki Sasaki problemChase Burns becomes first Reds pitcher with elite stat line since 1922Yankees’ Aaron Judge on track to become first player in MLB history with five 50+ homer seasons

Supreme Court rules for Black death row inmate from Mississippi over racial bias in makeup of jury
The Supreme Court is seen in Washington, Monday, May 18, 2026. (AP Photo/J. Scott Applewhite)2026-05-28T14:19:58Z WASHINGTON (AP) — The Supreme Court on Thursday ruled for a Black death row inmate from Mississippi who claims there was racial bias in the makeup of the jury that convicted him. By a 5-4 vote, the justices sided with Terry Pitchford, who was sentenced to death for his role in the killing of a grocery store owner in northern Mississippi. There was one Black juror in a trial with similarities to that of another Black man on Mississippi’s death row, whose conviction the high court overturned seven years ago. Doug Evans, a now-retired prosecutor with a history of dismissing Black jurors for discriminatory reasons, had excused four other Black people. The Supreme Court ruled 40 years ago in Batson v. Kentucky that jurors could not be excused from service because of their race and set up a system by which trial judges could evaluate claims of discrimination and the race-neutral explanations by prosecutors. Pitchford’s case focused on whether his lawyers did enough to object to Judge Joseph Loper’s rulings and whether the state Supreme Court acted reasonably in ruling they had not.In 2019, the Supreme Court overturned the death sentence and conviction of Curtis Flowers, because of what Justice Brett Kavanaugh described as a “relentless, determined effort to rid the jury of Black individuals.” Evans was the prosecutor in that case and Loper presided over the final two of Flowers’ six trials. Pitchford, now 40, was 18 when he and a friend decided to rob the Crossroads Grocery, just outside Grenada in northern Mississippi. The friend shot store owner Reuben Britt three times, fatally wounding him, but was ineligible for the death penalty because he was younger than 18. Pitchford was tried for capital murder and sentenced to death. Read More The case has been making its way through the court system for 20 years. In 2023, U.S District Judge Michael P. Mills overturned Pitchford’s conviction, holding that the trial judge did not give Pitchford’s lawyers enough of a chance to argue that the prosecution was improperly dismissing Black jurors.Mills wrote that his ruling was partially motivated by Evans’ actions in prior cases. A unanimous panel of the 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals reversed the ruling.. 获取更多RSS:https://feedx.net https://feedx.site

Fan violence in football 'shrugged off', says police chief
Celtic fans stormed the pitch after beating Hearts on the last day of the season [PA Media]Fan violence in Scottish football is being "shrugged off" due to a lack of accountability from clubs and the game's authorities, Police Scotland's chief constable has said.Jo Farrell told the Scottish Police Authority board that clubs whose supporters cause trouble should face tougher sanctions, including reductions in the number of fans allowed to attend matches. She said punishments like cutting fan allocations would help solve the problem. Her comments came after disorder at several games towards the end of the season, including high-profile matches between Celtic and Rangers in the Scottish Cup and the Premiership title decider between Celtic and Hearts. More stories from Glasgow & West ScotlandMore stories from ScotlandA total of 47 arrests have been made in relation to those two matches, which both featured pitch invasions.Police Scotland told the BBC they have not received any complaints from Hearts over alleged assaults on their players after the Celtic match. Two police officers were injured in Glasgow city centre after Celtic beat Hearts 3-1 to dramatically win the league title on the last day of the season, as fans of the Parkhead side gathered in the Trongate area to celebrate their triumph.Farrell said trouble connected to football was escalating in the country and it was becoming a "significant public safety issue" that affected communities and businesses. She said: "Policing has a strong part to play in football, but there is no doubt that accountability and ownership is lacking around football in Scotland."Disorder, violence and thuggery is unchecked and is allowed to be shrugged off."I think there is an absolute necessity for the two football authorities - the SFA and the SPFL - to strengthen their regulatory framework around football, and to be clear with the public, the clubs and the fans what the sanctions are going to be if there are pitch invasions, for example."Jo Farrell said Scottish football authorities should look to copy Uefa [PA Media]Farrell said these sanctions could include cutting fan allocations by 20%, then 40% and eventually a complete ban, meaning clubs would have to play games essentially behind closed doors with no spectators. She argued European football's governing body Uefa has had success with this approach for its competitions, such as the Champions League and Europa League. The chief constable added: "What I am not seeing is a very clear intent from the football authorities (about) what are the sanctions and what are the strong and visible measures they are going to take to control fan behaviour."There is a lot of work to be done across stakeholders in Scottish football to get this under control."She said that while police could arrest people, several months would often pass before they appeared in court, meaning there was no immediate consequences for, say, a pitch invasion.Supporters of both Rangers and Celtic ran onto the pitch after a Scottish Cup quarter final earlier this year [PA Media]The SPFL recently launched disciplinary investigations into five matches from near the climax of the football season, including the Celtic v Hearts game.Fans stormed the pitch after Celtic scored their third goal deep into stoppage time, prompting Hearts to criticise Celtic, saying it had created a "menacing and threatening atmosphere".The Glasgow side apologised to Hearts, but manager Martin O'Neill argued that it was "nonsense" to say the scenes had embarrassed Scottish football.BBC Scotland News also spoke to several businesses in the Trongate who shut early that day, ahead of Celtic fans taking over the area to party. The local businesses queried why an official fan party could not be held somewhere, but Glasgow City Council said this would need to be organised by the club, as the local authority could not foot the bill for it.Other matches being investigated include Motherwell v Celtic at Fir Park on 13 May, Inverness Caledonian Thistle v Hamilton Academical in League 1 on 2 May, Hamilton's League 1 play-off second-leg win against Clyde at Broadwood on 15 May and Stenhousemuir v Alloa Athletic on 16 May. Police and fans were also injured after both Celtic and Rangers fans invaded the pitch following March's Scottish Cup quarter-final.Scotland head coach Steve Clarke said last week that fans spilling on to the pitch to celebrate is a bad look for the game.Title party fanzones not possible due to cost, says councilO'Neill rejects 'nonsense' criticism of pitch invasionClubs and fans should be punished for pitch invasions, says ex-SFA chief

'I love it when Virat Kohli says...': Ian Botham in awe of Indian icon's passion for Test cricket
Virat Kohli, widely regarded as one of the greatest Test batters of his generation, continues to earn admiration for his deep love and passion for the longest format of the game. Even after retiring from Test cricket in May 2025, Kohli has repeatedly spoken about how much the format means to him, something that recently drew huge praise from England legend Ian Botham.Kohli brought down the curtain on his illustrious Test career on May 12, 2025, finishing with 9,230 runs in 123 matches along with a remarkable legacy as one of India’s most successful Test captains. Despite stepping away from the format, the former India skipper has never hidden his emotional connection to Test cricket and the pride he takes in India’s achievements during his era.Moments after finally winning his maiden IPL title with Royal Challengers Bengaluru in 2025, ending an 18-year wait, Kohli made headlines with his honest remarks about where the achievement stood in comparison to Test cricket.“You know, this moment is right up there with the best moments I have had in my career, but it still ranks five levels below Test cricket. That is how much I love Test cricket and that is how much I value Test cricket,” Kohli had said after RCB’s title triumph.Former England captain Ian Botham also lauded Kohli’s mindset and commitment to the traditional format, saying the Indian superstar’s words perfectly captured his greatness as a cricketer.“I love it when Virat Kohli says winning Test matches for India means more to him than anything else in the game. That, for me, sums him up, even including winning the IPL,” Botham said during the 12th edition of the Tiger Pataudi Memorial Lecture, organised jointly by The Bengal Club and The Telegraph.View this post on InstagramA post shared by The Telegraph (@telegraphonline)“For me, he is certainly one of the finest players in Test cricket,” the England legend added.Adding to it, more recently, during an RCB podcast, Kohli reflected emotionally on India’s memorable Test journey under his leadership.“I looked back at the time I was able to play Test cricket for so long and lead India through some amazing victories and a golden era in our Test journey. We were a bunch of young guys who always wanted to play Test cricket for India, and we got the opportunity of our lives together as a group,” Kohli said. These statements, even after his retirement from the format, underline Kohli’s immense respect and passion for Test cricket.
