SPORTS.YAHOO.COMBroncos’ new practice facility looks beautifulFootball is back, and the Denver Broncos are jumping back into offseason activities in full force. One of the biggest under-the-radar storylines going into the offseason program was the near-completion of the Broncos' new training facility, which will bring all stadium, football and executive staff under one roof for the first time in team history.Denver media were able to view OTAs for the first time this week on Thursday, and several members of the press were able to get a glimpse of the new building. “It’s been a terrific process," said Broncos owner Greg Penner of the facility at the NFL's annual league meetings in early April. "It is bringing the whole organization together — so folks from different buildings and sites, including the stadium. Then it will be a huge benefit for the players."You can see pictures and videos taken of the new facility below. Denver's old administrative building will eventually be demolished, making room for the construction of a new berm for fans to watch training camp. However, in 2026, the team will use temporary bleachers for training camp. Broncos ownership has shown significant investment in the team; now, we will see if their off-field improvements can translate to on-field success.Social: Follow Broncos Wire on Facebook and Twitter/X! SPORTS.YAHOO.COM#PostPulpit Mailbag: How concerning is A.J. Brown’s injury history?Foxborough, MA - June 2: New England Patriots wide receiver A.J. Brown at practice on June 2, 2026. (Photo by John Tlumacki/The Boston Globe via Getty Images) | Boston Globe via Getty Images A.J. Brown is officially a Patriot as the team has also now wrapped up OTAs. Next on the calendar: mandatory minicamp on June 9-11 before the team breaks until training camp later this summer. So, let’s get into this week’s #PostPulpit Mailbag. Many analysts have focused a lot on Brown’s degenerative knee condition. There seems to be an implied link between that and his less explosive year last year. Less analyzed are the impact of his hamstring issues on his ability to be explosive last year. How do you parse the impact of these two physical issues on what was clearly a less explosive player last year? – MK9Brown is coming off a season in which he posted career lows in both yards per route run (1.96) and yards after catch per reception (3.3). The latter number improved slightly during the second half of the season after he returned from a hamstring injury that lingered early in the year. There is also an argument to be made that the decline was influenced by Brown’s usage and effort level as frustration mounted throughout the season.Last season, Brown saw plenty of press coverage as he set a career high with 87.6% of his routes coming from the outside. Meanwhile, 47.7% of his targets came on either hitch routes or go routes. Neither route is designed to generate significant production after the catch. That should change in New England with Drake Maye and Josh McDaniels. Brown will still be a premier outside receiver capable of beating man coverage and winning down the field, but McDaniels is expected to move him around the formation — including into the slot — to create favorable matchups. And unlike Philadelphia, a Maye-led offense will target the middle of the field more frequently and feature a heavier play-action element, two areas where Brown’s usage has declined in recent years. In the end, there is risk that Brown is declining because of his degenerative knee condition and general wear and tear. But a more bought-in Brown, running more routes from the slot and over the middle of the field, could see a resurgence in production — similar to the jump he experienced from his final season in Tennessee to his first year in Philadelphia, when his yards after catch per reception increased from 3.6 to 6.1 — and potentially age more gracefully as a result. After adding AJ Brown, what does the teams cap space look like going forward? Do they have enough space to restructure his contract, extend Christian Gonzalez and then extend Maye? – MayepowerCap space is not an issue for the Patriots. They currently have just under $36 million available, which gives them plenty of room to operate. The bigger consideration, as always, is cash spending. For the second straight offseason, New England has been among the league leaders in cash expenditures and then added Brown to the mix. While that likely won’t impact any potential restructuring of Brown’s contract, it could factor into negotiations on a Christian Gonzalez extension — even though I would still predict that deal to get done.Given that edge rusher is not exactly a strength for the Pats right now, what are your thoughts on trading Boutte to the Giants for Thibodeaux? Specifically, (a) do you like the idea?, and (b) do you think it’s realistic? (It doesn’t seem like the G-Men value Thibodeaux the way they initially did.) – BriGuy301The Boutte-for-Thibodeaux swap makes plenty of sense on paper. The Patriots clearly need another pass rusher, and Thibodeaux fits their profile and is a player they have ties to in the front office. Meanwhile, the Giants have resorted to signing Odell Beckham Jr. and JuJu Smith-Schuster in the big 2026 to try and help their wide receiver room. The one potential issue for the Patriots, however, is the money. With the aforementioned cash they have already spent this offseason, New England may be hesitant to absorb Thibodeaux’s nearly $15 million fully guaranteed salary on his fifth-year option.Boutte for picks next year or for a 2nd string TE/LB?If there is a player that becomes available at one of those positions and the team is interested in Boutte, I’m sure the Patriots would explore a move. For now, I’d predict Boutte just goes for a fifth- or sixth-round draft pick in either 2027 or 2028.Is the door officially closed on Stefon Diggs coming back to the Patriots? – mathblaster97Eliot Wolf does not like to close doors, but I still don’t see a reunion happening. The Patriots paid plenty of money and draft capital to acquire A.J. Brown and Romeo Doubs and the rest of the wide receiver room is already crowded, which will leave a rotation in the third receiver role. With the injury to Julian Hill do you think the Pats might carry 7 WR’s and 2 TE’s this year? As I recall Dametrious Crownover started as a TE and couldn’t he be the 3rd TE if necessary and allow them to carry the 7 decent to very good WR’s they have on their 53? I don’t see any other worthy TE available now. What free agent would be the best Julien Hill replacement? – sjamesbossportsWhile I remain high on Eli Raridon’s long-term outlook, one of the benefits of having Julian Hill on the roster was that the rookie could be eased into action. Tight end is a position that typically takes longer to develop in the NFL, so it may be premature to pencil the third-round pick in as the top backup.Based on the current depth chart, however, there is not an obvious answer ahead of him. UDFA Tanner Arkin is strong at the point of attack like Hill, but should not be expected to make much of an impact as a pass catcher. It has also been a slow spring for C.J. Dippre, while Jack Westover worked as the top tight end behind Hunter Henry during OTA practices this past week.Maybe they do pivot back to more jumbo offensive line looks, but I would still explore an outside addition for a reliable third tight end. A veteran such as Will Dissly or old friend Pharaoh Brown to provide a more experienced option to allow Raridon to continue developing at his own pace. That’s all for this week’s #PostPulpit mailbag. SPORTS.YAHOO.COMThe Titans should still trade Will Levis this offseasonNASHVILLE, TENNESSEE - JANUARY 5: Will Levis #8 of the Tennessee Titans warms up before a game against the Houston Texans at Nissan Stadium on January 5, 2025 in Nashville, Tennessee. The Texans defeated the Titans 23-14. (Photo by Wesley Hitt/Getty Images) | Getty Images The Tennessee Titans are about midway through their Organized Team Activities (OTAs). Practice is totally voluntary, and some veteran Titans players have been non participants. One of the absentees is veteran backup quarterback Mitch Trubisky.Trubisky’s absence has led to more opportunities for Will Levis and Hendon Hooker behind Cam Ward. Despite that, Levis hasn’t seemingly done enough to take full advantage of Trubisky’s no-show. Only two of six OTA practices have been open so far, but it was disappointing to hear Levis threw two interceptions at Friday’s practice, including a terrible pick-six for DT Solomon Thomas on a busted screen pass. The Titans should still strongly consider trading Levis this offseason. Mike Borgonzi probably isn’t in a rush to decide Levis’ fate. Waiting for an offseason injury at quarterback, or choosing to feature the young quarterback in training camp and the preseason, could lead to more league-wide interest.Levis is in the final year of his rookie contract. He flashed as a rookie in 2023, was wildly disappointing as the starter in 2024, and skipped his third season (2025) after the team drafted Ward, opting to undergo season-ending offseason surgery on a previously injured shoulder. The Titans didn’t have a fifth-year contract option on Levis, who was a second-round pick. They would have declined it anyway.Contrary to some Titans’ fans beliefs, there’s no realistic path for Levis to dethrone Trubisky as the backup quarterback (outside of injury). The Titans signed Trubisky to a two-year, $10.5 million contract. That’s backup quarterback money. He also previously played for new offensive coordinator Brian Daboll in Buffalo and is a better fit to help Ward learn the new offense.Levis is also probably disinterested in staying with the Titans. His 2024 misfire came with severe backlash from the fanbase and the Titans are on their third head coach since drafting him. It may be a slow-playing process, but Levis is still likely to be traded (or released) by the Titans this offseason.0 Commenti 0 condivisioni 33 Views 0 Anteprima

SPORTS.YAHOO.COMJust in – €30 million-rated Juventus star ‘very tempted’ by the possibility of joining BarcelonaJust in – €30 million-rated Juventus star ‘very tempted’ by the possibility of joining BarcelonaAccording to transfer specialist Nicolo Schira, it has emerged that Juventus full-back Andrea Cambiaso is ‘very tempted’ by the possibility of joining Barcelona and would be open to discussing a move should the Catalan club decide to intensify their interest. The development comes at a time when Barcelona continue evaluating several options for the full-back positions, with the club determined to strengthen an area that has raised questions throughout the past season.Schira reports that Cambiaso is attracted by the prospect of playing for Barcelona and has already opened the door to a potential departure from Juventus during the summer transfer window.A versatile option to haveAs reported before, the Italian defender is understood to be one of several names being analysed by the Blaugrana hierarchy as they continue assessing how to improve the squad ahead of the next campaign.Barcelona’s interest is hardly surprising given Cambiaso’s versatility, as the 26-year-old can operate on both flanks, offering flexibility that would be valuable in a squad expected to compete on multiple fronts.Cambiaso is interested in Barcelona move. (Photo by Maurizio Lagana/Getty Images)Last season, the Italian featured in 47 matches for Juventus across all competitions. During that time, he contributed three goals and five assists while continuing to establish himself as one of the most reliable full-backs in Serie A.However, as expected, securing his signature will not be straightforward. Why is that? This is because, according to the journalist, Juventus are demanding at least €30 million to consider a sale. With Cambiaso tied to a contract until 2029, the Turin-based club remain in a strong negotiating position and are under no pressure to lower their valuation.Cambiaso could cost €30 million. (Photo by Maurizio Lagana/Getty Images)At the same time, Chelsea are also said to be monitoring the situation closely, although Schira suggests Barcelona currently hold an advantage in the race.It must be noted that Barcelona’s interest in Cambiaso is linked to uncertainty surrounding the defensive structure heading into next season. While Alejandro Balde remains an important player for the club, his campaign was marked by inconsistency, prompting internal discussions regarding additional competition for the left-back role.At the same time, the situation surrounding Joao Cancelo has become increasingly complicated. That is why Barcelona are looking for new options and Cambiaso appears to be on their agenda.0 Commenti 0 condivisioni 33 Views 0 Anteprima

The NFC won 66-52. (Photo by Alika Jenner/Getty Images) | Getty Images With several new faces this season, the Detroit Lions offensive line is hard at work building chemistry. After cutting ties with veterans Taylor Decker and Graham Glasgow this spring, the Lions signed multiple veterans in free agency and drafted Blake Miller in the first round of the 2026 NFL Draft. Now the offensive line is looking a whole lot different, and building connections will be very important.Earlier this week, newly signed Cade Mays posted on social media a picture with fellow lineman Tate Ratledge after the pair went on a hunting trip together. Speaking with reporters at OTAs on Thursday, veteran Penei Sewell said he’d consider joining them on a trip sometime.View this post on Instagram“I do want to go out there one time,” he said. “I heard it’s a different type of world, but I’m willing to do it all. I was talking to my wife the other day and those types of experiences, some people grow up on them and some people don’t. So it’s one of those things — might as well.”Being open to new experiences may help him connect with his new teammates as the five-year veteran tries to set a good example to show how high the squad’s standards are.“I’m the one that’s kind of been here the longest in the room, so it’s up to me to really hold that and to really show the guys, not just tell them because that’s the most important — you’ve got to come out here each and every day,” he said. “Nobody’s going to follow you if you’re not really doing it yourself.”And onto the rest of your notes.“I know people will think it’s AI generated.” Over on The Feed, user Xlgrev found and posted a new All 22 breakdown exploring whether Jared Goff can lead the Lions to a Super Bowl.PFF’s Nathan Jahnke built an All-Star team for every franchise, highlighting the best players at each position from the PFF era. The Lions version was a fun read. “A dream pairing on offense: The Detroit Lions would feature Hall of Fame wide receiver Calvin Johnson alongside Amon-Ra St. Brown, who is building a résumé that could eventually earn Hall of Fame consideration. SPORTS.YAHOO.COMAfter being 'humbled' last time, Packers won't have joint practice with BroncosBefore facing the Green Bay Packers in a 2024 preseason game, the Denver Broncos held a joint training camp practice with their upcoming opponent. That joint practice featured several scuffles, and the Broncos dominated the session. After Denver defeated the Packers 27-2 in the ensuing preseason game, Green Bay coach Matt LaFleur said his team was humbled by the Broncos.Denver's set to host the Packers in preseason again this summer, but there won't be a joint practice this time."Matt LaFleur does not anticipate having joint practices with Steelers or Broncos this training camp," Ryan Wood of the USA TODAY Network tweeted earlier this week. Instead, the Packers will host the Arizona Cardinals in a joint practice this summer. The Cardinals are coached by Mike LaFleur, who is Matt LaFleur's brother. Denver has two other preseason opponents: the Atlanta Falcons on the road (Aug. 14) and the Minnesota Vikings at home (Aug. 28). However, the Broncos will not hold a joint practice with either team this summer. Denver had two joint practices last summer and coach Sean Payton made it clear that he didn't like it, suggesting the team would go back to one per summer. After the team went deep into the playoffs, though, Payton pushed the whole offseason program back, and there's no room for a joint practice in 2026. Perhaps a joint practice will return to the schedule in 2027.Social: Follow Broncos Wire on Facebook and Twitter/X! SPORTS.YAHOO.COMNFL analyst says Panthers had best offseason in NFC SouthNobody in the NFL wins even a single game between March and September. That's where the foundation for success is laid, though—and the Carolina Panthers have seemingly done well for themselves for the second straight year.In free agency, they added a couple of big new pieces to their defensive front seven in pass rusher Jaelan Phillips and Pro Bowl linebacker Devin Lloyd. Then, their draft class hit all the right notes—both for immediate and long-term roster needs.Heading into the 2026 campaign, expectations for the Panthers are the highest they've been in quite some time, and some analysts are bullish about their future. Over at CBS Sports, Jordan Dajani has a breakdown of each NFC South team's year, and he's projecting the Panthers to finish over 7.5 wins:The Panthers are expected to have the toughest schedule out of any team in the NFC South, but they also arguably had the best offseason of their rivals... The Panthers can repeat as divisional champs if Young has enough support around him. His offensive line finished top 10 in pass-blocking efficiency at PFF last season. The supporting cast of weapons is solid yet not great, with Tet McMillan leading the way. But the defense could be what gets Carolina to at least 8-9. The Panthers have difference-makers at all three levels there.Last year's first-place finish puts Carolina on a collision course with not only the toughest schedule in the division, but also the third-toughest overall in the league. While that's going to make improvement hard to come by in the standings, the Panthers appear to be making the right moves. That being said, all depends on how much progress quarterback Bryce Young can make in his fourth season as a pro. Young's flashes are getting brighter and more frequent—and if he gets a boost from offensive coordinator Brad Idzik's play-calling, then Carolina's offense might surprise a lot of folks.Elsewhere around the NFC South, the New Orleans Saints may have found a franchise quarterback in Tyler Shough, but the rest of their roster is in a state of disrepair after years of mismanagement. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are also decaying, and Carolina seems to be catching up after getting dominated for nearly a decade. The Atlanta Falcons are probably the most talented in the division, but it won't matter if they can't find consistent play under center between Tua Tagovailoa and Michael Penix. So if the Panthers stay the course, the NFC South may be theirs to lose.Follow @ThePanthersWire on Twitter/X for more Panthers content. This article originally appeared on Panthers Wire: NFL analyst says Panthers had best offseason in NFC South0 Commenti 0 condivisioni 33 Views 0 Anteprima

SPORTS.YAHOO.COMGiants' Jermaine Eluemunor entering 2026 season in best shape of his lifeThe beat pool covering the New York Giants got their first taste of new nose tackle D.J. Reader on Wednesday after the team's ninth of 10 OTA workouts.Reader, a 6-foot-3, 335-pound established run stopper in this league, was impressed with the number of sizable players the Giants have brought in this offseason."We kind of got a 'get-off-the-bus' type of team. You look at it, there's a bunch of big, strong, fast guys running around. That's exciting when you're playing on defense," said Reader. Shortly after, right tackle Jermaine Eluemunor took his turn at the podium. He was asked if he gets the sense this team is bigger and stronger now. "I'll tell you me personally, I am," he stated. "This has definitely been the best offseason of my career from a workout standpoint. I feel like I'm in the best shape of my career. Strength-wise, the strongest I was playing football was in college. Like, I'm stronger than that now. Hitting weights that I haven't touched in a long time in the league."Also, just being out here, you see the difference in body shape, guys, and everyone came into the offseason with a goal in mind and really determined to change this thing around and really win. You see that by the way guys work out, by the way they practice. I think it's been a really productive offseason."Eluemunor believes he is one of the best right tackles in the NFL and feels his unit could be among the best as well. "I think everyone wants to be the best. I don't see why not. Last season, I think from an O-line standpoint, I think that we were one of the best pass-blocking units in the NFL. I also think we were one of the best run-blocking units in the NFL. That’s why we were in the top five categories when it comes to rushing. I don't see why this can't be one of the best offensive lines in the NFL," he said."Me, AT (Andrew Thomas), (Jon) Runyan, (John Michael) Schmitz, then Sisi (Mauigoa) is coming along really well, too. He's an athletic freak. I think they're going to do a lot of good things this season. I mean, everyone wants to be the best. If you don't want to be the best, I think that's the wrong mindset to have."The biggest addition this offseason, other than Thomas returning to health, is the rookie Mauigoa, who the Giants selected with the 10th overall pick in this year's draft. Mauigoa, who is called "Sisi" by his teammates and coaches, was a tackle in college, but the Giants decided to shift him to right guard between Schmitz and Eluemunor.Eluemunor called Mauigoa "a really confident guy" and "a really hard worker, and doesn't take BS from anyone.""A lot of the times when me and (linebacker Brian) Burns are going at it, and he’s sliding out to him, he’s not afraid to get in Burns' face or get in Abdul’s (Carter) face," Eluemunor said. "And let them know that when we put pads on and like if it was a game, he would be waiting for him right there, waiting for him to spin back inside so he can smack him. It's like that young-guy energy that you kind of feed off."Sisi is a really hard-working guy. He's a physical guy. I think the sky's the limit for him. It's been a lot of fun."This upcoming season looks to be different in many ways under new head coach John Harbaugh, and the offensive line could finally be back dominating opponents. SPORTS.YAHOO.COMManchester City chairman reveals club’s value – but insists owner will not sellSheikh Mansour has no intention of selling Manchester City, according to chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak. And Al Mubarak declared that the City Football Group, which includes 11 clubs, is worth at least $10bn now, from an initial value of around $100m when Sheikh Mansour, a member of the Abu Dhabi royal family, bought the English club in 2008. City have spent heavily on transfers and wages in the last 18 years but have also won – including eight Premier League titles, three trebles and the 2023 Champions League – and Al Mubarak argued they have invested with a purpose. He said: “Sheikh Mansour, when he looks at this club, he sees it as a long-term investment. Not just Sheikh Mansour. Sheikh Mansour of course and the shareholders who have invested in this club over the years buy into the vision that we’re going to invest in something that’s going to grow in value over time.“Of course, His Highness has no intention of selling this business, but over time, new shareholders come in at different value points that show how that value is really growing.“So, this club, when Sheikh Mansour first invested in it, the value was $100-120 million back in 2008. Then over the years we’ve had multiple stop points where the value went from $120 million to $1bn, the value of the group became $1bn. Then it became $2bn, then it became $3bn, then we had investors come in and actually invest in the club at $3bn.“We continued to grow; we continued to grow the value of this business while always keeping the profits and the revenue in the business because that helps to keep growing this value that we’re creating. Then we went up to $5bn and then more money came in, investors buying into this strategy, buying into this value creation and putting money into it.“And again, Sheikh Mansour took a very important choice which was that the money stays in because we’re going to keep building this. And this went up from $5bn to $6bn, to $7bn, to north of $8bn dollars. If you’re going to sell all this today in the market, you wouldn’t sell it for less than $10bn minimum. That’s value creation.”The American fund Silver Lake paid $500m for a stake in CFG in 2019 and now has an 18 percent shareholding, while the Abu Dhabi United Group holds 81 percent.Besides Manchester City, CFG own all of Melbourne City, Montevideo City Torque and Troyes, almost all of Lommel, Bahia and Palermo, a majority stake in New York City FC and minority stakes in Girona, Yokohoma F Marinos and Shenzhen Peng City. They also have several partner clubs.0 Commenti 0 condivisioni 33 Views 0 Anteprima

Add The Sporting News as a Preferred Source by clicking here. The Toronto Blue Jays were just one win away from winning the World Series last season against the Los Angeles Dodgers. During the offseason, they made it a priority to target some of the best starting pitchers in the game.Toronto signed players like Dylan Cease, Max Scherzer, and Shane Bieber to bolster the rotation, giving it the potential to go toe-to-toe with some of the best staffs in baseball.“It was abundantly clear that the Toronto Blue Jays were aiming to upgrade the starting rotation this offseason. With the external additions of Cody Ponce and Dylan Cease, they achieved that goal. Not to mention, Toronto brought back Shane Bieber and Max Scherzer. At full strength, this starting rotation can compete with the league's best,” SI’s Zion Trammel wrote. The biggest challenge has been keeping everyone healthy, which has plagued much of Toronto’s early-season success. The Blue Jays currently have three key arms making rehab appearances.“I didn't realize this until Blake Murphy just clued me in: The starting pitchers for the Triple-A Buffalo Bisons the next three days... Dylan Cease, Max Scherzer, Shane Bieber. That's a better top 3 (if healthy) than at least 1/3 of MLB teams right now,” MLB’s Mike Petriello wrote.Toronto is likely to pursue another rotation addition via trade, with some belief that Sandy Alcantara of Miami could be a target.“They're not there yet, either, which is why Alcántara -- who could replace Gausman in the rotation if he leaves in free agency this winter -- makes sense. Despite their struggles, the Blue Jays find themselves only one game out of the final wild-card spot in the AL, and with a cavalcade of players set to come off the injured list -- Dylan Cease, Alejandro Kirk, Addison Barger, Shane Bieber and Max Scherzer -- Toronto is primed for a resurgence,” ESPN’s Jeff Passan wrote.Toronto is one of the best teams in the American League when healthy, but that has been a major issue so far this season. Alcantara opened the year strong, showing flashes of his Cy Young form.Alcantara is on a $56 million contract and also has a club option for next season. Getting Alcantara back to full form, along with the injured stars returning, would give Toronto the resurgence it needs to re-enter true World Series contention. SPORTS.YAHOO.COMJeremiyah Love Names the 2 Teams He Thought He’s Going To in NFL DraftJeremiyah Love and the Arizona Cardinals ultimately found their way to each other on draft night, but the rookie running back recently revealed that he expected a different outcome as the selection process unfolded. Before hearing his name called by Arizona, Love believed there was a strong possibility he would begin his NFL career with either the Tennessee Titans or the New York Giants. The uncertainty surrounding the NFL Draft is one of the most fascinating aspects of the league’s offseason. Prospects spend months meeting with teams, participating in workouts and trying to interpret signals from front offices, yet the final outcome often remains unpredictable. Love experienced that reality firsthand as he entered draft night with expectations that pointed toward destinations other than Arizona.Feb 28, 2026; Indianapolis, IN, USA; Notre Dame running back Jeremiyah Love (RB11) during the NFL Scouting Combine at Lucas Oil Stadium. Mandatory Credit: Kirby Lee-Imagn ImagesThe Titans and Giants were both widely connected to offensive playmakers throughout the pre-draft process, making Love’s assumptions understandable. His combination of speed, explosiveness and versatility made him one of the most coveted offensive prospects available. Teams searching for a dynamic weapon capable of impacting both the running and passing game naturally viewed him as an attractive option.Instead, the Cardinals made the move that altered the course of his professional career. Arizona identified Love as a player capable of helping accelerate the organization’s development and adding another dimension to the offense. The selection provided the franchise with a young talent who possesses the skill set to contribute immediately while also serving as a long-term building block.Arizona Cardinals’ Jeremiyah Love Names 2 Teams He Thought Were Going Select Him in 2026 NFL DraftApr 24, 2026; Phoenix, AZ, USA; Arizona Cardinals first-round draft pick Jeremiyah Love poses with his jersey and his parents during a press conference at Dignity Health Arizona Cardinals Training Center. Mandatory Credit: Anna Carrington-Imagn ImagesLove named the two teams he thought was going to select him during the NFL Draft earlier this year. This is detailed more in an exclusive interview by DJ Siddiqi for Ratings.“Before then, I thought I was probably going to the Titans or the Giants, which would have been a blessing as well,” said Love. For Love, the unexpected destination quickly became an opportunity to embrace a new challenge. The rookie has already expressed excitement about joining the Cardinals and becoming part of the team’s future plans. His competitive approach and determination to make an immediate impact have generated optimism that he can become an important contributor as Arizona continues building its roster.Looking back, draft projections and expectations are often forgotten once players arrive at their new teams. What matters most is the opportunity that follows. While Love may have anticipated hearing his name associated with Tennessee or New York, he now finds himself in Arizona with a chance to establish his career and help shape the future of the Cardinals. If his early confidence translates into production, the unexpected turn on draft night could prove beneficial for both player and franchise. The post Jeremiyah Love Names the 2 Teams He Thought He’s Going To in NFL Draft appeared first on Gridiron Heroics.0 Commenti 0 condivisioni 33 Views 0 Anteprima

SPORTS.YAHOO.COMArizona Cardinals Urged to Trade Super Bowl-Winning Edge Before 2026 NFL SeasonThe Arizona Cardinals find themselves at the center of an intriguing offseason debate as speculation continues to surround veteran edge rusher Josh Sweat. While the organization remains focused on preparing for the 2026 season, some analysts have suggested that Arizona should consider trading the Super Bowl-winning defender if an attractive offer emerges before the regular season begins.Sweat arrived with the credentials of a proven playmaker and immediately became one of the most experienced members of the Cardinals’ defensive front. Throughout his career, he has established himself as a disruptive force capable of generating pressure, forcing mistakes and creating favorable opportunities for teammates. His championship experience and leadership qualities added further value to a team seeking to accelerate its progress in a competitive NFC landscape.Dec 21, 2025; Glendale, Arizona, USA; Arizona Cardinals linebacker Josh Sweat (10) is helped off the field against the Atlanta Falcons during the first half at State Farm Stadium. Mandatory Credit: Mark J. Rebilas-Imagn ImagesThe discussion surrounding a potential trade is driven largely by asset management and roster construction. Teams across the NFL constantly evaluate whether veteran players can generate greater value on the field or through future draft compensation. Because productive pass rushers remain among the league’s most coveted commodities, Sweat has naturally attracted attention from organizations searching for defensive help.Arizona’s front office faces a difficult balancing act. The Cardinals are attempting to build a sustainable contender while also remaining competitive in the present. Trading a respected veteran could provide additional draft capital and financial flexibility, but it would also remove one of the defense’s most established contributors. Such decisions often require organizations to weigh immediate competitiveness against long-term planning.NFL Analysis Urges Arizona Cardinals to Trade Josh Sweat Ahead of 2026 SeasonDec 7, 2025; Glendale, Arizona, USA; Linebacker Josh Sweat (10) against the Los Angeles Rams at State Farm Stadium. Mandatory Credit: Mark J. Rebilas-Imagn ImagesArizona is being urged to move on from Sweat before the 2026 NFL season starts. This is detailed more in an analysis by Moe Moton for Bleacher Report. So, general manager Monti Ossenfort should look to trade roster assets like Josh Sweat for premium 2027 draft capital. By the way, analysts believe next year’s crop of rookies could be one of the best classes in recent memory. Arizona can load up on picks to rebuild the foundation of its roster. Moreover, according to Cardinals insider Kyle Odegard, Sweat isn’t “particularly happy in Arizona.”From a football perspective, retaining Sweat offers obvious advantages. Elite edge defenders influence games in ways that extend beyond sack totals. Their ability to collapse the pocket, pressure quarterbacks and disrupt offensive rhythm often impacts every level of a defense. For a Cardinals team looking to improve its defensive consistency, removing a proven pass rusher could create challenges that are not easily solved through younger replacements. As the start of the season approaches, indications suggest Arizona remains committed to moving forward with Sweat as a key part of its plans. Nevertheless, the continued interest from around the league underscores the value he brings to the position. Whether the Cardinals ultimately keep him or entertain future offers, the attention surrounding Sweat highlights his importance and the difficult decisions teams must navigate when balancing present ambitions with long-term objectives. The post Arizona Cardinals Urged to Trade Super Bowl-Winning Edge Before 2026 NFL Season appeared first on Gridiron Heroics.0 Commenti 0 condivisioni 33 Views 0 Anteprima

SPORTS.YAHOO.COM'Hasn’t got fair chance': Gautam Gambhir confirms Sai Sudharsan at No.3 for Afghanistan TestNEW DELHI: India head coach Gautam Gambhir on Friday confirmed that left-handed batter Sai Sudharsan will bat at number three in the one-off Test against Afghanistan, which begins on Saturday in New Chandigarh."Sai Sudharsan hasn’t got a fair chance. He played in England. We will give him a longer rope," Gambhir said during the pre-match press conference."We can (only) pick 11 (players) and Sai isn't in bad form. He scored 700 runs in IPL. If we judge Sai on basis of 4-5 games we will never be able to build something," he added. The number three position has remained unsettled for India in Test cricket since Cheteshwar Pujara moved out of the side. Since then, seven different batters have been tried at one-drop, but none have managed to make the spot their own. Several of them were also not given an extended run in the role. Pujara announced his retirement in 2025, though his last Test appearance for India came in the 2023 World Test Championship final.Shubman Gill had the longest stint at number three before moving to number four after becoming Test captain following Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma's retirement from the format.Since Gill’s move, Sudharsan, Washington Sundar, Dhruv Jurel and Devdutt Padikkal have all batted at number three.India’s 2-0 home series defeat to South Africa highlighted the uncertainty around the position. Sundar was promoted to number three in the first Test at Eden Gardens but was moved back down the order after India’s batting struggles.Sudharsan returned at number three in the second Test in Guwahati against South Africa but managed scores of 15 and 14.The left-hander has played six Tests so far and averages a little over 27.Despite India being sixth in the World Test Championship standings with 48.15 per cent of points, Gambhir said the team still believes it can challenge for the title."We believe that we can win the WTC. There is talent and hunger in this team," Gambhir said. On quick turnaround after IPL, Gambhir said, "There are no excuses. Test matches are about mental toughness." 1315276540 Commenti 0 condivisioni 33 Views 0 Anteprima

APNEWS.COMVirginia man in ‘au pair affair’ case to be sentenced in double murder schemeBrendan Banfield looks on during the double murder trial for Brendan Banfield in Fairfax County Circuit Court, Jan. 14, 2026, in Fairfax, Va. (AP Photo/Tom Brenner, Pool, File)2026-06-05T11:58:02Z FAIRFAX, Va. (AP) — A Virginia man who was having an affair with the family’s Brazilian au pair is scheduled to be sentenced Friday for the murder of his wife and a man who was lured to the couple’s home as a fall guy. Brendan Banfield, a former IRS law enforcement officer, claimed that he shot Joseph Ryan after he came across Ryan attacking his wife on the morning of Feb. 24, 2023. But prosecutors said Brendan Banfield and au pair Juliana Peres Magalhães set Ryan up in a scheme to get rid of Christine Banfield, a pediatric intensive care nurse. Brendan Banfield faces the possibility of life in prison. In addition to murder, jurors in February convicted Banfield of child endangerment because the couple’s 4-year-old daughter was home during the killings. During Banfield’s trial, Magalhães testified that he had told her he wanted to marry her and have children with her, but he needed to “get rid of” his wife first. He didn’t want a divorce because “she would have more money than he would” and because he wanted custody of the couple’s daughter, said Magalhães, who was 21 when she started working for the Banfields in 2021. Magalhães told jurors that she and Brendan Banfield had impersonated Christine Banfield on a website for sexual fetishes. They used the site to lure Ryan to the house in Herndon, Virginia, for a sexual encounter involving a knife and staged the scene to look as though they had shot a violent intruder. Magalhães testified that on the day of the killings, she waited in a car outside the house with the Banfields’ child. When Ryan arrived, she called Brendan Banfield, who was waiting at a nearby McDonald’s. The pair took the child to the basement and then went to the bedroom, where they encountered Ryan. Brendan Banfield shot Ryan and then stabbed Christine Banfield with the knife Ryan had brought. When Magalhães saw Ryan moving, she fired a second shot that killed him.Magalhães pleaded guilty to manslaughter after agreeing to testify against Brendan Banfield. Magalhães was sentenced to 10 years in prison after Banfield’s trial.0 Commenti 0 condivisioni 34 Views 0 Anteprima

APNEWS.COM4 years running, Southern Baptists weigh tightening ban on churches with women pastorsMessengers attending the Southern Baptist Convention participate in worship during the 2025 SBC Annual Meeting, June 10, 2025, in Dallas. (AP Photo/Richard W. Rodriguez, File)2026-06-05T11:01:56Z When Southern Baptists gather Tuesday in Florida for their annual meeting, they’ll debate for the fourth year in a row whether to formally ban churches with a woman serving in any role resembling that of pastor — not just the top job.One thing they are unlikely to debate is the politics of many Southern Baptists, the vanguard of broader white conservative evangelical support for President Donald Trump.Officials for the Southern Baptist Convention, the nation’s largest Protestant denomination, say more than 11,000 church representatives have preregistered for the two-day meeting in Orlando. Revisiting a ban on churches with women pastorsIn the previous three annual meetings, a majority of representatives voted to amend the SBC constitution to ban churches with women in any pastoral role. But the measures failed to get a two-thirds supermajority in two consecutive years that is required to pass an amendment. The denomination’s statement of belief, the Baptist Faith and Message, declares that the office of pastor is limited to men. While nonbinding on churches, this has prompted the SBC to expel some churches with women in leading pastoral roles. Now the focus is those who preach or serve in subordinate pastoral roles. This year, an amendment proposed by Albert Mohler, president of The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, would exclude any church that acts “to affirm, appoint, or endorse a woman serving in the office or function of a pastor/elder/overseer, specifically preaching to the assembled congregation.” Read More Mohler noted the debate has consumed too much time and attention. “Clarity in the constitution would settle that,” he said. The outgoing SBC president, Clint Pressley, supports the amendment, as do both candidates running to succeed him.Another nonbinding resolution with similar language will be considered. It requires only a simple majority to pass. As an association of independent congregations, the SBC can’t tell them what to do. But it can expel any church deemed not to be in “friendly cooperation.” The convention has ousted churches in recent years that appointed women to top pastoral positions or asserted the right to do so. But the status of churches with female assistant pastors is still debated. On his own podcast, Mohler recently said it would even be a “problem” for a church podcast to include a woman answering questions about that week’s sermon. Array of issues queued up for debateThat view drew pushback online, including from prominent Bible teacher Beth Moore, who left the SBC after she faced criticism for advocating for victims of sexual abuse and criticizing evangelical support for Trump despite such things as his crude sexual boasts.“How in heaven’s name a woman discussing a sermon on a podcast could be objectionable to some is beyond me and what I believe to be beyond scripture,” she posted on X.She added later: “Which has been the greater problem: women trying to become your senior pastors or pastors misusing or abusing women?”Amy Sims, associate pastor of preschool and children at Sugarland Baptist Church in Sugarland, Texas, described a now-yearly contrast of preparing for vacation Bible school just as Southern Baptists are debating women’s ministry. “I preach. I teach. I disciple children and families,” she wrote on the independent site Baptist News Global. “I walk with parents through crises. I visit hospitals. I help lead people to faith in Christ. I perform baptisms. ... I serve now at a church that is beautifully supportive of my work and calling as a woman and pastor.”Every June, Sims added, “there are those who seem determined to remind me they do not believe God could have called me to do the very work I am doing.”Even as the convention’s membership shrinks, the annual meeting serves as a bellwether for religious and political trends among evangelicals. And as is typical, the biggest attention will be on whether the already-conservative SBC decides to move further rightward. The upcoming meeting follows the release of internal statistics showing a continuation of a nearly two-decade-long decline in membership. It’s down to 12.3 million, the lowest since 1973. Southern Baptists have, however, seen a bump in baptisms. They consider this a key spiritual vital sign because it measures conversions, though the increase is not enough to stem the overall decline.Southern Baptists will consider other policy statements. One proposed resolution calls for humane treatment of immigrants and rejecting nativistic and dehumanizing rhetoric while also affirming the government’s responsibility for immigration enforcement.Another denounces antisemitic violence and conspiracy theories, notably those arising since the Oct. 7, 2023, Hamas attack on Israel. At the same time, the resolution affirms Southern Baptists’ hope for Jews’ conversion to Christianity. In 1996, an SBC resolution called for the evangelization of Jews, prompting major Jewish leaders to call it a setback for interfaith relations. Baptists’ long ties to conservative politicsBeyond denominational politics, the majority-white SBC is a core part of the wider, predominately white evangelical constituency that has coalesced behind Trump. Prominent Southern Baptists say they see little change in that. They like Trump’s official policy recognizing only two, biologically determined genders, though they worry about his administration’s moderation on abortion. Baptist leaders have largely supported his war against Iran, but were quick to move on from Trump’s posting in April of a social media meme they deemed to be blasphemous.Trump won the support of about 8 in 10 white evangelical Christian voters in 2020 and 2024, according to AP VoteCast, a large voter survey.About two-thirds of white born-again Protestants approved of Trump’s overall performance in April, compared to about one-third of U.S. adults overall. That’s according to survey findings from The Associated Press-NORC Center for Public Affairs Research. Mohler said evangelicals were widely appalled at the Trump social-media meme depicting himself as a healing savior. “You had the vast majority of evangelicals saying this is fundamentally wrong,” Mohler said. But that’s “within the context of the fact that overwhelmingly evangelicals supported President Trump as president.”Robert Jeffress, senior pastor of the large First Baptist Church in Dallas and a longtime Trump supporter, said he appreciated that the president “had enough sensitivity to remove” the meme after the backlash.Emphasizing that he was speaking for himself and not his church or the SBC, Jeffress added that he supported Trump’s creation of a Religious Liberty Commission, where Jeffress testified about what he contended was unfair scrutiny of his church by the IRS.Jeffress also supported Trump’s decision to go to war against Iran, saying a president has “not only the right but the God-given duty to protect our nation.”Mohler agreed, but sought to temper expectations. He said he supported past wars in Iraq and Afghanistan but now realizes that some of their objectives, such as nation-building, were not realistic. A just war needs “limited and honest aims,” he said.Dwight McKissic, senior pastor of Cornerstone Baptist Church in Arlington, Texas, has criticized fellow Southern Baptist leaders for both their political slant and their gender focus. The Black pastor posted on X that the SBC and its theologians have been wrong about issues ranging from slavery and segregation to the mistreatment of sexual-abuse survivors.“And now they expect us to just blindly trust them on gender theology and women in ministry issues?” McKissic wrote. ___Associated Press religion coverage receives support through the AP’s collaboration with The Conversation US, with funding from Lilly Endowment Inc. SPORTS.YAHOO.COMAliyah Boston, Caitlin Clark may be Fever’s cornerstones, but Kelsey Mitchell is the rockINDIANAPOLIS — We’re looking at the viral clip wrong. We’re not noticing Kelsey Mitchell. No, Mitchell wasn’t the headliner in that 22-second video of Indiana Fever guard Caitlin Clark protesting and head coach Stephanie White pointing, then Clark shrugging and White subbing out her star player right then and there. In that sideline footage from Saturday’s loss to the Portland Fire, White looked infuriated while Clark looked over it. And, those poor, poor Fever players — each one facing the cell phone camera — looked as though they’d rather be anywhere else but that huddle. However, lost in all that tension was the one player who provides Indiana with some desperately needed tranquility.Oh, there you are, Ms. Mitchell. The adult in the room. The stabilizer, and the calm to the chaos. Your pro’s favorite pro. Besides helping to pacify her team’s problems with an 83-71 win over the Atlanta Dream on Thursday night, Mitchell scored her 5,000th career point. She reached the milestone, becoming only the second player in franchise history to do so behind legend Tamika Catchings, as she scored 11 straight points in the third quarter and finished with a game-high 25 on 11-of-15 shooting.Mitchell made one jumper, which prompted teammate Tyasha Harris to look directly into an arena camera and shrug like M.J. for the Jumbotron. After another big shot, Harris covered her ears and shook her head, and Clark, who was also on the sideline at that time, popped from her seat and held up three fingers. As for Mitchell, she was as chill as the “Many Men (Wish Death)” snippet that plays throughout Gainbridge Fieldhouse anytime she makes a highlight.“I think my teammates know that about me,” Mitchell said. “I don’t have too much emotion.”Every team can use a metronome like Mitchell. Especially when firecrackers fill the roster. Some friendly advice for Clark and Aliyah Boston: Stay away from poker. Those two can’t hide their feelings of angst, irritation and utter shock anytime an official blows a whistle against them. On the flip side, they’d both kill in charades. Especially if either player had to act out the phrase: “Frustrated Basketball Player Who Thinks She’s Never Committed a Foul. Like, Ever.”While defending the Dream, two different times Boston twirled her index finger toward the bench, pleading with the coaching staff to call for a review of her fouls. (They didn’t.) Going into the intermission, and also coming out of halftime, Boston initiated a respectful yet lively conversation with the same official, in which she spoke while demonstrating with her hands. Though Boston didn’t always get her way and finished with five fouls, she also swatted down three shots and remained out of foul trouble to contribute 19 points with three made triples. For the night, Clark finished with 17 points on 6-of-17 shooting, with eight assists and seven rebounds. Scattered through her poor shooting night, Clark had some nice plays: A behind-the-back dribble and sidestep to her left for a 3 in front of Dream guard Allisha Gray, followed up with a fast-break assist to Mitchell cutting that sparked her teammate’s heater. However, the real show happened whenever Clark heard a whistle. She was pegged for four fouls, but after the third one, Clark was so furious that she, too, wanted justice.“Oh, my God! Review that s—!” Clark yelled, while making the twirly finger gesture for the Fever sideline to avenge her defense.(They didn’t.)In light of the Portland sideline video, as well as clips making the rounds on social media that show Clark arguing calls, her body language has come under more scrutiny. So before the game, I asked Clark about it. In a thoughtful response, Clark acknowledged the space for self-improvement but also defended her intensity.“I think it’s something I can always work on. You go back, you look at the mirror, and I’m competitive and I have an edge, and I think at the same time it’s what makes me great. But it’s not something you always love, too,” Clark said. “I think there are ways to learn and channel it and make it better. But at the same time, I think that competitive fire and that drive and that passion, that joy and that edge, that’s what people come to watch. That’s what they love. It’s not always going to be pretty — and look at some of the best players in the world or some of the best players who have ever played this game, and they’re fierce. They’re fiery. They’re competitive.“Sometimes they maybe cross the line, but that doesn’t make you a bad person. That doesn’t make you a bad teammate. You go back and you reflect and you take accountability and you find ways to channel that, and you use that to motivate your team or motivate yourself, or get the crowd behind you,” Clark continued. “I don’t think there’s ever a point in your career where you stop reflecting on how to get better, whether that’s in your leadership or whether that’s in your play. I think for myself there’s always ways to get better, so absolutely I’m always going back and reflecting.”Thought Steph left her fire in Connecticut! 🥵 pic.twitter.com/meFefzUAAf— Mostly WNBA Tweets (@MostlyWNBA) May 31, 2026To be fair to Clark and Boston, several Fever players can catch a case of finger-itis and overreact to the whistle. Indiana has spent the first eight games of the season as the league’s highest-fouling squad, while also giving up the most points, so it makes sense they might be tightly wound.Just not Mitchell. Her expression on the court can vacillate between calm and catatonic. Even when she crossed the 5,000-point threshold, after she stripped Gray on defense and pulled up in transition for the cold-blooded 3, and after she made one teammate cover her ears in disbelief and the Fieldhouse crowd scream in delight, Mitchell didn’t celebrate. She didn’t make an overly theatrical display. She cracked a smile and got back on defense.“Kelsey’s like this anyway,” White said, as she moved her hand steadily along an imaginary line. “She doesn’t get too high, she doesn’t get too low. When she uses her voice, it matters. It resonates. She’s been through a lot in this league and she understands situations and she understands moments.”Unlike her teammates, Mitchell’s poker face reveals nothing, and yet everything you need to know about the nine-year professional who’s seen some of the franchise’s worst days (six straight losing seasons before the 20-20 record in Clark’s rookie year). Boston and Clark, the Fever’s back-to-back No. 1 overall picks, might be the cornerstones for a franchise that now carries championship aspirations for this season and beyond, but Mitchell’s the rock.“I say it all the time: Kelsey is one of the biggest pieces of this franchise,” Boston said. “It doesn’t matter what’s happening in her world. She just shows up, and she gives us everything. … It makes me so excited to have a leader and a role model in Kelsey.”So, go back and look at that short clip again, the exchange between coach and player during a heated huddle in Portland. Most of the Fever players refused to engage. However, Mitchell in the corner of that frame, emerged as the only peer who attempted to redirect Clark’s frustration and clap some positivity back into the huddle. In those 22 seconds, there was screaming and sulking and teammates stunned into silence. Then there was Mitchell, the player who deserves more of our attention. This article originally appeared in The Athletic.Indiana Fever, WNBA, Opinion, Indiana Fever, women2026 The Athletic Media Company0 Commenti 0 condivisioni 33 Views 0 Anteprima

Herbstreit served as the color commentator alongside play-by-play announcer Chris Fowler for the “Big Game” broadcast team in College Football 25 and 26, after EA Sports relaunched the popular video game franchise that was previously known as NCAA Football.Herbstreit and Fowler also form the top college football announcing booth for ESPN. And it turns out that Herbstreit’s replacement for College Football 27 is also the lead college football commentator for Fox Sports. On Thursday night, EA Sports revealed trailers and details for College Football 27 (and Madden NFL 27), including an announcement that Fox Big Noon analyst Joel Klatt will be a color commentator alongside Fowler for the video game. Here’s EA Sports’ announcement on Klatt joining Fowler in the College Football 27 booth:“You know him from the Big Noon Saturday games! We are bringing in Colorado Buffaloes alum Joel Klatt from Fox Sports into the booth for College Football 27.Joel joins Chris Fowler in the booth to enhance the Playoff atmosphere like never before! We are loving the energy and stories they have brought to the game!Joel brings a strong point of view and a voice that fits the college game. His addition helps broaden the feel of the broadcast and gives us more ways to make commentary feel grounded in the sport’s tone and rhythm.“HE’S IN THE GAME @joelklatt is officially a voice of College Football 27 pic.twitter.com/mAYjDwkrCO— FOX College Football (@CFBONFOX) June 5, 2026Herbstreit and Klatt are the two most prominent analysts in college football, so College Football 27 gamers will likely be pleased with the choice EA Sports went with to replace Herbstreit, who also was a color commentator for many years in the original NCAA Football franchise alongside Brad Nessler. Even if it may surprise some to see the ESPN vs. Fox, College GameDay vs. Big Noon Kickoff worlds collide.Additionally, EA Sports announced that ESPN’s Holly Rowe will be a sideline reporter in College Football 27:“We are excited to welcome ESPN’s very own Holly Rowe as the sideline reporter in College Football 27.Adding sideline reporting gave us another way to make the broadcast feel more complete and more true to the shape of a real college football telecast. It opens the door for game updates and observations that do not always fit naturally into booth commentary, while also helping important developments land with a little more weight. That includes updates tied to:InjuriesChanging weatherPlayer PerformanceGame flow and MomentumIt adds another layer of information, but just as importantly, it adds another layer of presence. College football broadcasts feel fuller when there is someone down on the field helping connect the action to what is happening around it.“College Football 27 will release on July 9 and will be available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.The post Joel Klatt replaces Kirk Herbstreit as color commentator in EA Sports College Football 27 appeared first on Awful Announcing.0 Commenti 0 condivisioni 33 Views 0 Anteprima

SPORTS.YAHOO.COMInjury update on MJF emerges after AEW star pulled from Beyond Wrestling matchPhoto by Frank Jansky/Icon Sportswire via Getty ImagesMJF was recently pulled from a scheduled match for Beyond Wrestling, with the promotion revealing he had suffered an injury. The AEW World Champion was in a match with Rush on Dynamite earlier this week when the injury occurred.MJF is thought to have hyperextended his knee during the fight, but a new update suggests there is hope that it is not a serious problem.Photo by Cindy Ord/Getty Images for SiriusXMMJF is legitimately injured, but there is hope it is not seriousIn the world of wrestling, it is hard to tell which injuries are real and which are simply a work to progress a story. However, in the case of MJF, Bryan Alvarez of the Wrestling Observer has now reported that this injury is real.Posting to his subscribers on X/Twitter, as quoted by WON, the wrestling journalist wrote: “MJF injury is legit but they’re hoping it’s not serious”AEW’s Forbidden Door pay-per-view is due to take place in San Jose, California, on June 28, 2026.No matches have officially been confirmed for the PPV at this time, though we do know that Will Ospreay will be competing in the final of the Men’s Owen Hart Cup.As for MJF, while he has not been announced for a match yet, it was expected that the AEW Champion would be competing at the show.It remains to be seen if he will have recovered from his injury in time. If it is a hyperextended knee, as was mentioned by the Wrestling Observer, then the recovery time for such an issue can be quite short in some cases.Medical News Today has previously reported that a person can recover in two to four weeks if the injury is not serious. However, they also mention that if surgery is required, that could extend recovery time to somewhere around six months. Two to four weeks on the sidelines could see MJF back for Forbidden Door at the end of this month, but surgery would likely mean he misses the PPV.Read more:Former WWE Universal Champion on potential return via help from Danhausen, ‘there’s a number’New match stipulation for Brock Lesnar and Oba Femi’s third match suggested by former WWE starWWE and TKO’s stance on offering Bayley a new contract as deal set to expire in 20260 Commenti 0 condivisioni 33 Views 0 Anteprima

SPORTS.YAHOO.COMKnicks v Spurs: Five things that were everywhere the last time they met in the NBA FinalsPhoto by TIMOTHY A. CLARY/AFP via Getty ImagesThe Knicks and Spurs are back in the NBA Finals together, 27 years after San Antonio beat New York in the 1999 series. That was the year of Y2K panic, American Pie, Britney Spears, and the internet still making that horrible dial-up noise in the hallway. Now Victor Wembanyama is heading into Madison Square Garden, Jalen Brunson is trying to end New York’s long wait, and another Larry O’Brien Trophy is on the line.More than a quarter of a century is a long time in basketball and in real life. Here is what has changed since the Knicks and Spurs last met on this stage.1999 nostalgia as the NBA Finals sees a familiar matchupPhoto by Gregory Shamus/Getty ImagesDial-up internet In 1999, getting online was not something you did without thinking. You waited for the dial-up sound, hoped nobody picked up the house phone, and accepted that even loading a photo could go on longer than a double-overtime these days.Today, highlights, box scores, rumours and reaction are instant. It is almost too easy to find everything, and sometimes too easy to lose an hour scrolling instead of locking in on the game.Blockbuster on a Saturday nightBefore streaming, you had to actually go somewhere to pick a film. A Saturday night trip to Blockbuster had its own pressure, because choosing the wrong tape could ruin the whole evening. There was no endless scroll, no five apps and no algorithm quietly judging your taste. You wandered the aisles, argued over comedies and action films, then hoped the tape was not damaged when you got home.Snake on a Nokia 3210 The Nokia 3210 was everywhere around the time of the first Knicks and Spurs Finals, and Snake was simple perfection. No updates, no in-game purchases, no loading screens, just a tiny line chasing dots on a button phone.Photo credit should read JOSEP LAGO/AFP via Getty ImagesThey don’t make games like that anymore.Mario was still Mario, handheld consoles were massive, and the indestructible ‘Blokia’ was the simple man’s choice for a bit of mental stimulation. Now phones are mini televisions, cameras, wallets and whatever else you need it to be. Back in 1999, just sending a text felt modern enough.SportsCenter highlightsSportsCenter is still around, but the way fans consume highlights has completely changed. Back in 1999, catching the best plays on TV felt like part of the ritual. If Tim Duncan dominated or Allan Houston got hot, you waited for the package. There was a real sense of occasion to seeing the clips lined up with the music, the voiceover and the late-night recap. Now a Wembanyama block or Brunson step-back will be on social media within 30 seconds. That’s great, but it does feel less magical. Maybe that’s just growing up…The NBAThe 1999 NBA Finals were physical, defensive and low-scoring. The average final score was 85-80 to the Spurs, which says everything about the pace and style of that era.Now the league is built around spacing, shooting, pace and skill in every position. Big men handle the ball, guards shoot from the logo, and teams treat the three-point line like the centre of the sport. Then there is Wembanyama. If you described him to someone in 1999, a 7’4” player blocking shots, hitting threes and moving like a wing, they might genuinely think aliens had invaded Madison Square Garden.Lots has changed since the Knicks and Spurs last met in the Finals, but some things do not.The magic of the Garden. The Spurs being an incredibly well-run organisation with a ridiculously talented big man. Knicks fans being the craziest in the world. These are all very much true statements in 2026 as well.READ MORE: How Adam Silver reacted to Donald Trump’s plans to attend NBA Finals at Madison Square Garden0 Commenti 0 condivisioni 33 Views 0 Anteprima

WWW.LGBTQNATION.COMRemember when Republicans passed a law that singles out married same-sex couples for discrimination?Republicans in the Tennessee House of Representatives yesterday passed a bill that says that people and private organizations don’t have to recognize same-sex marriages. It also shields people from facing professional discipline if they refuse to officiate or “celebrate” a same-sex wedding. Opponents of the bill say that, if it passes, hospitals, banks, and other businesses could refuse to accept same-sex couples as clients or patients. Related Most of the books conservatives are trying to ban in Tennessee are LGBTQ+ H.B. 1473 states that the 14th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution only requires state and local governments to provide equal protection under the law, not private entities. The bill’s text is very specific in that it says that people and organizations don’t have to recognize “a purported marriage between individuals of the same sex” and not any other kind of marriage. Tennessee doesn’t include LGBTQ+ people in its anti-discrimination laws and even has a law, passed in 2011, that specifically bans local governments from protecting LGBTQ+ people from discrimination. Insights for the LGBTQ+ community Subscribe to our briefing for insights into how politics impacts the LGBTQ+ community and more. Subscribe to our Newsletter today H.B. 1473 passed in a 68-24 vote along party lines. No Republican voted against it. “The overwhelming majority of Tennesseans already affirmed what we have known for all of history: marriage is between one man and one woman,” state Rep Gino Bulso (R), who introduced the bill, said in a statement. “This legislation protects religious liberty in the Volunteer State by clarifying that private citizens can never be forced to recognize any other definition. I’m grateful to my Republican colleagues for standing with me to defend the common-sense values that have shaped our state and nation.” LGBTQ+ advocates denounced the bill. “Attacking the recognition of people’s marriages is one of the worst ways for the Tennessee House to spend its time,” the Tennessee Equality Project said in a statement. “This bill sows fear about the very protections that give families security, and it fails to address real problems in our state like emergency preparedness and the affordability crisis. Hate won today, but those of us fighting for love and our families will prevail here or in the courts.” “Imagine if under this bill, a private employer said, ‘Well, you can’t take family leave because I, as a private citizen, don’t recognize — using the language of the bill — your purported marriage,’” said Tom Lee, who is on the board of directors for the Tennessee Pride Chamber. “Or a bank says, ‘You’ll pay the higher rate (for unmarried couples). We’re not bound by the 14th Amendment. You’re not married in our eyes.’” Opponents of the bill pointed out that it is based on a rather expansive legal theory, that the state either can’t or shouldn’t ban private citizens from discriminating because the 14th Amendment does not apply to private citizens. If taken to its logical end, they argued, this would mean that discrimination against interracial marriages and immigrants would have to be legalized as well. “Theoretically, you could read that legislation to allow individuals or private organizations to discriminate against someone on the color of their skin,” said state Rep. John Ray Clemmons (D), who voted against the bill. State Rep. William Lamberth (R) disagreed with Clemmons’ assessment. “Absolutely not. Look at the bill, listen to debate, it does not open the door to that,” he told WSMV 4. H.B. 1473 is part of the state’s 2026 “slate of hate,” which includes several other anti-LGBTQ+ bills. Bulso introduced another bill that he called the “Banning Bostock Act,” which takes aim at the 2020 Bostock v. Clayton Co. Supreme Court decision that banned employment discrimination against LGBTQ+ people. This bill would allow small businesses to discriminate against LGBTQ+ employees freely. Other bills proposed this session expand previous bills targeting LGBTQ+ Tennesseans. A state law already allowing teachers to ignore a student’s preferred pronouns would be broadened to allow all school students and workers to ignore a trans person’s honorifics, like “Mr.” or “Mrs.” Another measure would have expanded the number and type of businesses that could be penalized for violating the state’s drag performance ban, but it was sent back to committee earlier this month. A federal court initially declared the ban unconstitutional, but an appeals court threw out the ruling due to an issue of legal standing. “I could say it’s a total assault on our rights,” said Trans Equality Project director Chris Sanders at a news conference. “Some would demure, saying, ‘Oh, it can’t be that bad, really, can it?’” “But what would you call it when the healthcare of transgender people, the freedom to marry, employment non-discrimination, the dignity of trans and nonbinary people at school, pride celebrations and symbols, drag performance, and much more are up for votes in committees this very week? Give me the right word and I’ll use it.” Subscribe to the LGBTQ Nation newsletter and be the first to know about the latest headlines shaping LGBTQ+ communities worldwide.0 Commenti 0 condivisioni 33 Views 0 Anteprima -

SPORTS.YAHOO.COMEngland stretches lead to 99 at lunch as New Zealand all out for 113 at Lord'sLONDON (AP) — Opening batters Ben Duckett and Emilio Gay helped push England's lead to a healthy 99 against New Zealand by lunch on the second day of the first test at Lord's on Friday.England earned a 27-run lead on first innings despite making 140, and was 72-1 in 15 overs at the interval.New Zealand was all out for 113 inside the first hour after resuming on 61-6. New Zealand was 29-6 on Thursday evening so the last four batters added 84 runs.England's left-handed openers endured a lively start to the second innings on a pitch still helping the quicks in overcast conditions. The stadium lights came on after midday.Duckett, dropped on 12 and jammed on the finger, was finally out for 33 and newcomer Gay was 24 not out after making 8 in the first innings. With him was Jacob Bethell on 8.Kyle Jamieson, after his five-for in the first innings, opened the New Zealand attack and should have had Duckett's wicket but Rachin Ravindra bombed a regulation catch at short midwicket. Ravindra also dropped a sitter off Harry Brook on Thursday.Duckett survived a working over from Will O'Rourke and took it out on Matt Henry. Back spasms limited Henry to four bowled overs and less than an hour of play on Thursday but he batted on Friday — lasting five balls — and practice bowled between the innings to green-light his prime job.Henry’s first two deliveries were smacked to the boundary by Duckett, but the batter's growing fluency cost him in the next over when he angled O'Rourke straight to a catch at gully to end a valuable opening stand of 52.Gay also hit Henry for consecutive boundaries in the late flurry of runs. The morning also started well for England.Josh Tongue quickly knocked over the off stumps of overnight batters Glenn Phillips and Nathan Smith but Jamieson, who has one test fifty, took on England after receiving a hit on his helmet, a remarkable feat by Tongue against 2.07-meter Jamieson, New Zealand's tallest-ever cricketer.Jamieson hammered Tongue and Ollie Robinson for three sixes and reached 38 off 29 balls to be the second highest scorer in the game at that point, but he was left stranded.Robinson had been bowling short instead of at the wickets, and finally bowled Henry to end the innings and take test-best figures of 5-39, his first five-for since 2022 and first at Lord's — quite the feat in his welcome back to test cricket.Tongue had 3-40 and Atkinson 2-9.___AP cricket: https://apnews.com/hub/cricket0 Commenti 0 condivisioni 33 Views 0 Anteprima

SPORTS.YAHOO.COMSomerset apologise for floodlight failuresFloodlights went out three times during Somerset's Vitality Blast match with Glamorgan [Getty Images]Somerset have apologised to fans for "occasional floodlight outages" during their Vitality Blast victory over Glamorgan on Thursday. The club said it did not yet know the reason for the failure, having also experienced issues in their County Championship clash with Sussex last month. In total, there were three stoppages because of issues with floodlights against Glamorgan, including in the final over with the hosts chasing 203 to win. In a statement, Somerset said: "Somerset County Cricket Club would like to apologise to anyone who attended last night's Vitality Blast fixture against Glamorgan whose experience was adversely affected by the occasional floodlight outages which occurred during the match."The Cooper Associates County Ground is award-winning for its presentation of the Vitality Blast, and it is always disappointing when this experience is not optimised."At this stage the precise reason for the failure remains unknown. Regular visitors to the ground this year will know that we began experiencing occasional, unpredictable issues with the lights during our recent Rothesay County Championship fixture against Sussex."Somerset added that, following those issues against Sussex, work had gone on to improve the system, and later Vitality Blast matches against Hampshire and an England Women's T20 international had passed off without any glitches. The club also stated that "all of our standard pre-game operational checks were completed, and no issues were identified with the floodlights or the related infrastructure" prior to the fixture against Glamorgan."However, a problem clearly remains, and a deeper intervention will now be initiated to diagnose and rectify this problem as soon as possible," said the statement. "This will include working with our floodlight suppliers, Musco, and the mains power supplier, National Grid."The process will be concluded in good time ahead of our next floodlit fixture which is scheduled for later this month."We would like to take this opportunity to apologise to the Members, supporters and players from both teams, the match officials and broadcast partners for the disruption that this issue caused."We would like to thank you for your patience and understanding in this regard and for bearing with us last night whilst the issue was resolved. "Despite the disruption, the atmosphere at the Cooper Associates County Ground was, as always, exceptional and we thank you for your continued and vociferous support." SPORTS.YAHOO.COMNew intel conflicts with previous Mike Trout report, with Phillies now having chance to trade for future Hall of FamerNew intel conflicts with previous Mike Trout report, with Phillies now having chance to trade for future Hall of Famer originally appeared on The Sporting News. Add The Sporting News as a Preferred Source by clicking here. There are many conflicting reports about what Mike Trout might do around the trade deadline, as he has a full no-trade clause and the Los Angeles Angels have continued to be one of the worst teams in the American League, currently with the worst record at 24-39. It's almost impossible to say that the Angels should keep trying with this roster, so they have to ensure that they get the right return for him.If one team is interested in Trout, or at least expected to be, it's the Philadelphia Phillies. The Phillies have played much better recently, and they're 33-29 with a slew of talent, making them a realistic suitor for his services. According to the latest scoop, there's a sense among some executives and scouts in Major League Baseball that he can at least be traded now.“It’s certainly time for the Los Angeles Angels and Mike Trout to part ways. Despite having a full no-trade clause in his 12-year, $426.5 million contract, executives and scouts believe Trout will waive it to go to a contender this season. The 23-39 Angels are once again in the basement of the AL West and the 34-year-old Trout doesn’t have many playing years left. Trout has four more seasons remaining on his deal and around $150 million total,” Pat Ragazzo reported. The question that some were pondering for Trout was whether he'd be willing to waive that no-trade clause. The Angels also have to be willing to move on from him, though it feels likely that if he goes up to Los Angeles' front office and asks to be traded, it would grant his wishes. The Phillies will definitely have to hope for that.More MLB news:Yankees have a perfect opportunity to replace Ryan McMahon with 27-home run sluggerSteve Cohen has reportedly lost a shocking amount of money since owning the MetsMajor League Baseball CBA could take White House turn if teams can’t agree on dealYankees’ Carlos Lagrange report could hurt their chances of winning American League EastYankees now expected to be stuck with $16 million issue that has no resolutionTarik Skubal’s latest comments on trade rumors should be considered bad news for Dodgers0 Commenti 0 condivisioni 33 Views 0 Anteprima

SPORTS.YAHOO.COMTwo La Liga clubs fighting for Arsenal’s backup starTwo La Liga clubs fighting for Arsenal’s backup starKepa Arrizabalaga is attracting interest from both Sevilla and Villarreal during the summer transfer window as uncertainty surrounds his future at Arsenal. The goalkeeper remains the second-choice option at the Emirates Stadium and has found opportunities limited since joining the club. Despite his experience and proven quality, regular first team football has been difficult to secure, leading to speculation that he could seek a move away in search of a more prominent role.Sevilla and Villarreal are both looking to strengthen their goalkeeping departments and have identified Kepa as a potential solution. His experience at the highest level of the game makes him an attractive option for clubs seeking a dependable presence between the posts.La Liga Clubs Eye Experienced GoalkeeperKepa is regarded as one of the most experienced goalkeepers currently available on the market, having represented leading clubs in both Spain and England, including Chelsea and Real Madrid. His extensive experience in domestic and European competitions has ensured that he remains a highly respected figure despite not being a regular starter at Arsenal.During his time at the Emirates, the Spaniard has primarily featured in domestic cup competitions. He also appeared in Arsenal’s final league match of the season after the club had already been confirmed as champions of England. While his contributions have been valuable, opportunities have remained limited throughout the campaign.Arsenal Open to Summer ExitA move back to Spain could provide Kepa with the regular playing time he may be seeking at this stage of his career. Both Sevilla and Villarreal are reportedly prepared to offer him a starting role, an opportunity that could prove difficult to ignore given his current position within Arsenal’s squad.According to Fichajes, Arsenal would be willing to sanction the goalkeeper’s departure and could seek a fee of around €5 million. The report suggests Kepa now faces an important decision regarding his future.Should he remain at Arsenal, significant increases in playing time appear unlikely. However, staying in North London could improve his chances of collecting further silverware, with the Gunners well placed to challenge for additional league titles and major honours in the seasons ahead. His decision is therefore likely to balance the desire for regular football against the opportunity to compete for trophies at the highest level._____________________________________________________________________________________________ADMIN COMMENTSo here are some simple rules which I must insist commenters follow….You agree not to give any personal abuse to other Arsenal fans. SPORTS.YAHOO.COMDream Rangers move the perfect World Cup boost for ShanklandLawrence Shankland says completing a "dream" move to Rangers has provided the ideal boost as he looks to sparkle for at the World Cup.The 30-year-old ended his goal-laden Hearts career by making a surprise switch to Ibrox last week before netting a double in Scotland's 4-1 friendly win over Curacao at Hampden. In a Scottish FA interview in America before Saturday's friendly against Bolivia in New Jersey, the 30-year-old said: "Obviously I finished the season pretty strong, so confidence was already high."To join my boyhood club, somewhere that I've always had a dream to play, and to get that opportunity, especially in the later stages of your career, I'm just happy and excited to get that opportunity."It can give you that wee boost and hopefully it does going into these games."Shankland's transfer had to be hastily concluded before he joined up with the Scotland camp last week."Obviously, I was due to meet up with Scotland on the Tuesday but I had to delay to the Wednesday for my medicals and stuff," he said. "I felt like it was pretty important for me to get it done before I came here."I think when you come to a World Cup, you want to enjoy that experience. I don't think I wanted anything hanging over my head with my club football so I was quite keen to get things wrapped up."Obviously, it was a big decision for me, leaving Hearts. It's a great club. I've got a lot of good times and good memories there. But the opportunity to go and join Rangers is one that I couldn't really turn down."As I said, it was just important that I got that sorted before I came here. WWW.LGBTQNATION.COMThese 10 LGBTQ+ books about religion and spirituality are must-reads for all queer believersSacred and historical texts form the backbone of mainstream religions worldwide, but even modern-day writings about religion often exclude queer perspectives, which is why we’ve compiled this essential list of LGBTQ+ books about religion and spirituality that will expand the minds (and hearts) of believers from a wide background of faith traditions. Admittedly, some of the titles below are anthology collections that group numerous LGBTQ+ perspectives under a common faith or spiritual practice — after all, religious texts are meant to provide comfort and guidance in a challenging life, and what better way to do that than a book containing numerous perspectives and voices. But we’ve also included a few memoirs as well as titles that provide practical guidance for reconciling one’s faith and queer identities. Related These 10 LGBTQ+ films about religion show queer believers keeping their faith Hijab Butch Blues by Lamya H. (2023) The cover of Hijab Butch Blues by Lamya H | The Dial Press Never Miss a Beat Subscribe to our newsletter to stay ahead of the latest LGBTQ+ political news and insights. Subscribe to our Newsletter today When Lamya — a queer, nonbinary, South Asian Muslim immigrant moves from a large Arabian city to a prestigious American college — they are faced with a life-altering choice: Should they return home, where their conservative parents expect them to marry a man, or stay in the U.S. and build a new life while living in a “brown hijabi Muslim body” that makes them “scary, disempowered” and yet “hypervisible and invisible” to Islamophobic Americans? Over the course of this anonymous memoir, their alternative reading of the Quran’s most problematic passages reveals the limitations of social binaries and how one’s faith, queerness, and curiosity can liberate Lamya and others in ways that are nothing short of miraculous. I Am Divine. So Are You: How Buddhism, Jainism, Sikhism and Hinduism Affirm the Dignity of Queer Identities and Sexualities by Jerry Johnson (2017) The cover of I Am Divine. So Are You: How Buddhism, Jainism, Sikhism and Hinduism Affirm the Dignity of Queer Identities and Sexualities by Jerry Johnson | HarperCollins India While Abrahamic faiths (like Judaism, Christianity, and Islam) have a linear worldview overseen by a single, patriarchal, divine creator and judge, Karmic faiths (like Buddhism, Jainism, Sikhism, and Hinduism) see existence as a cosmic cause-and-effect cycle of rebirth that may be guided by a pantheon of deities whose divinity transcends gender. This karmic difference isn’t merely theological, Pattanaik argues, but provides multiple dynamic perspectives about the fluidity of sexuality and gender that can inform the worldwide fight for LGBTQ+ rights and dignity. And if you’re looking for other LGBTQ+ books about religion and spirituality that touch on Buddhism, check out My Buddha Is Pink: Buddhism from a LGBTQI Perspective by Richard Harold (2019). Jailbreaking the Goddess: A Radical Revisioning of Feminist Spirituality by Lasara Firefox Allen (2016) The cover of Jailbreaking the Goddess: A Radical Revisioning of Feminist Spirituality by Lasara Firefox Allen | Llewellyn Publications Early humans primarily attributed spiritual importance to nature, animals, and fetish objects, but when humans began personifying deities with human traits, female figures of fertility and creation emerged first. Far from being just a fringe practice of neopagans, Allen’s modern reimagining of goddess archetypes provides a blueprint of how feminine divinity can empower a lifetime of purpose, power, worship, ritual, invocation, and transformation. The Book of Queer Mormon Joy edited by Kerry Spencer Pray (2024) The cover of The Book of Queer Mormon Joy edited by Kerry Spencer Pray | Signature Books The Mormon Church has long said that LGBTQ+ people exist in opposition to God’s plan, but the queer Mormons in this anthology of personal essays show a wide spectrum of believers who have found inner divinity and happiness that can transcend the trauma and heartbreak of Latter-day Saints who have traditionally excluded queerness from their vision of godliness. This collection of 36 stories includes tales from current and former LGBTQ+ Mormons (including pansexual, asexual, and nonmonogamous individuals) whose confessional and revelatory experiences show the complicated, defiant, and ever-evolving nature of joy that resides deep in everyone’s hearts. Memoirs of a Jehovah’s Witness Drag Queen From Fresno by David Lopez (2013) The cover of Memoirs of a Jehovah’s Witness Drag Queen From Fresno by David Lopez | CreateSpace Independent Publishing Trudrung’s autobiographical essay collection is one of the few LGBTQ+ books about religion and spirituality that is both heartfelt and irreverently funny. It recounts the personal, spiritual journey of a gay boy navigating his faith in rural California and Idaho before becoming a drag performer, and is filled with comical caricatures, introspective insights, and the sort of mischievous misadventures you’d expect from an experienced drag queen. Queer Magic: LGBT+ Spirituality and Culture from Around the World by Prower Tomas (2018) The cover of Queer Magic: LGBT+ Spirituality and Culture from Around the World by Prower Tomas | Llewellyn Publications Contemporary religion has tried to cover up the queer deities, heroes, and historical figures that have inspired LGBTQ+ spiritual practitioners around the world and throughout time. Prower’s book only uncovers these mythic inspirational figures from different world cultures (explaining how modern religion has maligned and misinterpreted them towards their own ends). It’s also one of the few LGBTQ+ books about religion and spirituality that also includes spells, self-care tips, and activities from modern, diverse queers that will help infuse any LGBTQ+ spiritualist’s life with a renewed sense of magical and ancestral power. A Rainbow Thread: An Anthology of Queer Jewish Texts from the First Century To 1969 by Noam Sienna (2019) A Rainbow Thread: An Anthology of Queer Jewish Texts from the First Century To 1969 by Noam Sienna | Print-O-Craft Press This collection of 120 texts — including poetry, drama, literature, law, rabbinic writings, and memoir from over 2,000 years (some of which have never before been translated into English) — is a definitive, must-have anthology for any fan of queer Jewish history or lover of LGBTQ+ books about religion and spirituality. Sienna encourages readers to make their own connections with and creations from the texts, and even includes suggestions for further reading, to help continue the important tradition of passing on Jewish heritage between generations. Sovereign Erotics: A Collection of Two-Spirit Literature edited by Qwo-Li Driskil (2011) The cover of Sovereign Erotics: A Collection of Two-Spirit Literature | University of Arizona Press Two-Spirits are known by different names and roles throughout various tribes, but never before have any LGBTQ+ books about religion and spirituality ever collected the fiction, nonfiction, poetry, and personal essays of queer Native Americans into a powerful volume that explores the indigenous memory, sexuality, gender, family, love, and loss. This tome includes both established and newer authors as well as a range of styles that welcome re-reading, defy easy categorization, and challenge preconceptions about native identities. Torn: Rescuing the Gospel from the Gays vs Christians Debate by Justin Lee (2012) The cover of Torn: Rescuing the Gospel from the Gays vs Christians Debate by Justin Lee | Jericho Books Lee grew up gay in a conservative Southern Baptist home, and believed he was called to ministry while undergoing efforts to change his sexual orientation. Relating his own story to the experiences of Christians who struggle with their faith, he now tries to compassionately bridge the gap between Christians and the LGBTQ+ community by offering alternative perspectives on theological arguments and Biblical teachings (including the verses most often used to condemn homosexuality) to offer guidance to those who seek to reconcile faith and identity with true Christian love. Transforming: The Bible and the Lives of Transgender Christians by Austen Hartke (2018) The cover of Transforming: The Bible and the Lives of Transgender Christians by Austen Hartke | Westminster John Knox Press Hartke, a transgender seminary graduate, knows that many Christians, LGBTQ+ people, and allies don’t entirely understand what the Bible has to say about gender identity or how to make their faith communities more welcoming to trans believers. He not only examines what the Bible says about trans people, but also provides the real-life experiences of modern transgender and non-binary Christians, a study guide for those seeking to learn more, and tips for pastors and preachers who want to care for the queer members of their flock. LGBTQ+ books about religion and spirituality can change the world Queer theologians have often said that LGBTQ+ people help broaden people’s conceptions of both the human and the divine. As such, LGBTQ+ books about religion and spirituality are an important tool to help challenge preconceptions about moral identities and community inclusion. Many traditions ask followers to practice their faith by sharing their personal experiences and spiritual learnings with others. These books can help empower readers to do the same, transforming the world of faith into a more welcoming community for us all. SPORTS.YAHOO.COMYankees vs. Red Sox prediction: Odds, recent stats, trends, and best bets for June 5The Red Sox (26-35) and the Yankees (37-25) renew one of the more storied rivalries in sports tonight in the Bronx, opening a three-game set at Yankee Stadium. Boston is happy to be on the road after losing yesterday. They were waxed by the Orioles, 8-2, to drop their eighth series of the season at Fenway. Their futility at home is a big reason why they own the cellar in the American League East. The Yankees found out yesterday Aaron Judge (stress fracture of the first rib) will be sidelined for at least the next 6-8 weeks before going out and salvaging the final game of their three-game series against the Guardians. New York sits ½ game behind the Rays in the AL East. Getting runners to cross home plate has been a major issue for Boston. They have scored the third fewest runs in baseball. Of late, they have shown signs of breaking out but the consistency has not been there. For example, take the last six games. In those contests, the Red Sox have scored 3, 9, 9, 2, 8, and 2 runs. They are 3-3 in those six games and there is little question which games were wins and which were losses. Conversely, the Yankees have scored the fifth most runs in baseball. The Bronx Bombers have beaten up the bad teams and played a little over .500 ball against teams above .500 (10-8). Ben Rice has been the primary producer on offense hitting .300 with 17 home runs and 44 RBIs. The issue for New York is the bottom of the order. Austin Wells is hitting .169, Anthony Volpe owns a batting average of .220, and Ryan McMahon is hitting a stout .205. That futility only underlines how good the top of the order has been. On the mound tonight, the Red Sox will turn to right-hander Sonny Gray, who has been one of their few reliable arms. A one-time Yankee, Gray takes the mound with a 6-1 record and a 3.06 ERA, while the Yankees counter with left-hander Ryan Weathers, who brings a 3.52 ERA to the bump. Lets dive into tonight’s matchup and find a sweat or two.
