With a new lesbian dating show, cutely titled You Hauled, on the horizon, its time to revisit some of the other series that have gotten us to this point. Sapphic-centered reality TV shows may be few and far between, but when they do hit our screens, they rarely disappoint. And like any good reality show, they tend to get messy. Sometimes really, really messy. So lets take a look back at some of our faves ranked by the amount of chaos they delivered, just the way it should be.1. 'I Kissed a Girl' (2024)Chaos Level: This Danii Minogue-hosted dating show that spun off from I Kissed a Boy was ultimately more sweet than chaotic. Contestants navigated first kisses, building connections, and, of course, some jealousy. But the focus was more on finding love than making a spectacle, and the drama rarely escalated beyond brief misunderstandings. If you're looking for more "aww" than "OMFG," I Kissed a Girl has you covered.Where to watch: Hulu2. 'Coming Out for Love' (2023)Chaos Level: Coming Out for Love featured 16 women attempting to win the heart of influencer Amber Whittington. And, of course, all the contestants lived under one roof in the process. There was plenty of drama to go around with this one, although it didn't quite match the chaos levels of some other sapphic reality shows. Where to watch: YouTube3. 'Tampa Baes' (2021)Chaos Level: Tampa Baes followed an extended friend group of lesbians in Florida. But while the trailer promises all the messiness that comes with a small, tight-knit community of sapphics, the show itself swung wildly between shocking drama and somewhat dull monotony, to the point that it was hard for viewers to know what to make of it. And with such a large cast, it was easy to start getting invested in a pocket of drama only to get swept away for a long interlude with other characters.Where to watch: Prime Video4. 'Candy Bar Girls' (2011)Chaos Level: Filmed in Londons legendary Candy Bar, this 2011 Channel 5 series followed the staff and regulars navigating the citys queer nightlife scene. Although there were plenty of heartfelt moments of authenticity throughout the show, its setting definitely kept things wild. Unfortunately, the bar itself got priced out and had to close its doors less than three years after the episodes aired.Where to watch: Unavailable5. 'The Ultimatum: Queer Love' (2023)Chaos Level: Netflixs The Ultimatum sees one person in each couple issue an ultimatum get hitched or get out. Adding to the intrinsic tension, everyone swaps partners for three weeks for a "trial marriage," before doing the same trial run with the person they came with. The Queer Love spin-off followed the same format, but centered entirely around women and non-binary folks. And yes, it was every bit as dramatic as you would expect. When are we getting a season two??Where to watch: Netflix6. 'The Real L Word' (2010)Chaos Level: Between messy breakups, tequila-fueled blowouts, and on-screen hookups, The Real L Word rose to truly legendary levels of chaos. Although it balanced some of the insanity out with the occasional "stable" couple just trying to do things like start a family or get ahead in their careers, this look into the lives of Los Angeles (and eventually New York City) sapphics will always be remembered first and foremost for its mayhem. And we wouldn't have it any other way.Where to watch: Paramount+
