MTG just realized the GOP is sexist as she begs Mike Johnson to pass her anti-trans bill
Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) has apparently just discovered that the Republican Party is not pro-woman. During a recent appearance on CNN, the anti-trans congresswoman who recently announced her resignation said shes frustrated that even with a Republican majority, many of us women are not taken seriously, and our legislation is not taken seriously. Related MTG lashes out at interviewer who said she perpetuated toxic political culture: So have you! She used her anti-trans health care bill, the so-called Protect Childrens Innocence Act, as an example, saying House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) promised her a vote on the bill when the shutdown ended, but that he has yet to bring it to the floor. Greene called the bill a key piece of legislation that is one of President Trumps top campaign promises. They need to grow up before they do any permanent changes to their body.Republican women in Congress are being ignored. Our legislation isnt being taken seriously, even in our own majority!! Mike Johnson promised a vote on my Protect Childrens Innocence Act. This bill would protect kids from irreversible procedures and reflects President Trumps pic.twitter.com/VRIbJeryqE Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (@RepMTG) December 9, 2025The bill, which Greene has been trying to push through Congress for several years, would ban transgender youth from accessing gender-affirming care and make it harder for trans adults to get such care by banning government insurance programs from paying for it and banning medical schools from teaching about it.Despite Greenes characterization on CNN, gender-affirming care for minors almost never involves surgery and instead involves allowing younger kids to play with the toys they like and wear the clothes they like, as well as use the correct name andpronounsfor the child. For older teens, it involves reversible puberty blockers and hormone therapy, which have beenshown to reduce lifelong suicide riskfor transgender people and are supported by major medical associations in the U.S., including the American Medical Association, the Endocrine Society, and the American Academy of Pediatrics.Last year,Greene lied during testimonyin the House when she claimed that there are many young people that made the tragic mistakes of having mastectomies, having castrations done to them, having genital mutilation surgeries when they were still in their early, uh, teens, um, maybe even before they were teenagers. She also called a trans-affirming mom evil and mentally ill while promoting the bill. Greene reintroduced the bill in May and accused left-wing activists and medical institutions of targeting Americas children with gender-affirming care. My bill stops the mutilation of kids and holds those responsible for performing or facilitating these barbaric procedures accountable, she wrote in a press release.Greenes recent appearance on CNN is a reminder that her far-right positions have not changed despite her recent claims that she is sorry for engaging in toxic politics for so long. Nevertheless, the Georgia lawmaker has been breaking from both Trump and the broader Republican party for months, despite having previously remained unflinchingly loyal to both throughout her tenure in Congress.Disagreement over the Epstein Files officially broke the alliance between Trump and Greene. Greene has been a staunch supporter of releasing everything and refused to give in to Republican pressure to remove her name from the House discharge petition to force a vote on the files release. She said she resigned after Trumps public insults toward her led not only to death threats against her but also against her son. When she sent the threats to Trump, she said his response was extremely unkind, but wouldnt share details. But some, like Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-TX), have found it both ironic and infuriating that Greene cowered under the threats so easily, considering the hate she has perpetuated throughout her time in Congress has no doubt led to similar threats against a myriad of people and groups such as LGBTQ+ people, who she has repeatedly called pedophiles and child abusers.Subscribe to theLGBTQ Nation newsletterand be the first to know about the latest headlines shaping LGBTQ+ communities worldwide.
