Far-right Infowars host Owen Shroyer appeared fairly upbeat about a church shooting in Minnesota yesterday that resulted in the deaths of two children.God bless Infowars, he said. Shroyer was discussing the shooting that occurred yesterday at the Annunciation Catholic School in Minneapolis, Minnesota, where Robin Westman, 22, allegedly shot and killed two children and injured 17 others and then killed themself. Westman may have been transgender; there is a name change document from 2020 for a person who changed their name to Robin Westman and says the minor child identifies as a female and wants her name to reflect that identification.While the vast majority of school shootings are committed by cisgender men, the right is using this one shooting to blame trans people for gun violence in general. And, for Shroyer, this is enough to make him sound elated that the shooting happened. But now we just got up to bat in our half of the inning and we just hit a grand slam Because, yeah, again, a trans-identified person.He was talking to former FBI agent Kyle Seraphin, whose security clearance was revoked for alleged misconduct during the Biden administration, and he took credit for the information about Westmans possible name change being made public. Shroyer was named in a lawsuit filed against InfoWars owner Alex Jones for the websites conspiracy theories about the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting. Shroyer suggested that it would have been impossible for the father of one of the children who was killed there to have held his childs body and suggested that the father was lying about his sons death. InfoWars was found liable and had to pay nearly $50 million in damages in that case. In 2023, Shroyer pleaded guilty to illegally entering a restricted area at the Capitol during the January 6 Capitol riot. He was sentenced to 60 days of incarceration.
