Trump Still Polling Well With Working-Class American Pedophiles
WASHINGTONDespite the presidents sagging approval rating overall, a Gallup Poll released Tuesday confirmed that Donald Trumps support remained overwhelmingly strong among working-class American pedophiles. Even though his polling numbers among Americans who are not sexually attracted to children have hit a second-term low, the presidents approval rating is still an impressive 80% among child rapists with household incomes between $30,000 and $80,000, said polling analyst Lily Willis, explaining that Gallups results indicated that Trumps agenda still spoke to the large number of Americans primarily concerned with kitchen table issues like whether or not theyll be able to afford 13-year-old prostitutes. For sexual predators who molest kids paycheck to paycheck, Trumps promise to jump-start the economy with tariffs remains extremely popular. Furthermore, the recent trend of lower gas prices has significantly eased the financial burden on pedophiles whose sex crimes often rely on trafficking children across state lines. Interestingly, while the poll demonstrated that Trumps support has softened among rapists more broadly, his approval rating remains safely above water among the demographic of ephebophilesthose who, like Trump himself, are sexually attracted to teenagers. At press time, Democratic strategists were reportedly looking for new ways to appeal to the essential pedophile voting bloc to avoid a disastrous midterm election. The post Trump Still Polling Well With Working-Class American Pedophiles appeared first on The Onion.

Trans men are helping each other reclaim agency over their menstrual experiences
Kabir Mann had an irregular cycle since he began menstruating as a teenager. At first, he was fine with it, but as he prepared to start hormone replacement therapy (HRT), he began to worry about any issues the irregularities may cause. So he saw a gynecologist, who diagnosed him with polycystic ovarian disorder (PCOS) and told him he had a higher-than-normal level of testosterone. The hardest part about that moment, he told LGBTQ Nation, was having to talk about his period at all. Its the only time he remembers speaking about it with anyone. I wanted to hide it so badly despite the pain because I was afraid that if I discussed it, then people would never address me as a man. Related As a trans male teacher, I am uniquely poised to teach boys to respect women My masculinity differs from that of my cis male colleagues. Thats a good thing. Growing up in Indias capital city of Delhi, Mann experienced constant dysphoria around his period. Even the word menstruation or any conversation surrounding it has always felt like a nightmare for me, the 30-year-old said. Never Miss a Beat Subscribe to our newsletter to stay ahead of the latest LGBTQ+ political news and insights. Subscribe to our Newsletter today But everything changed when he joined an NGO that provided him with sex education and helped him feel more empowered in his identity. I started taking sessions on menstrual health and management. By now Ive done sessions with men, women, and girls, and Ive spoken about it so many times that now I dont feel so alienated. On top of that, HRT felt like a blessing. Since I took the first dose, my menstruation stopped, but having said that, missing a dosage does bring it back. While he is happy to be done menstruating, he no longer sees the act as something that eradicates ones manhood.I dont want menstruation back in my life but there are many transmen and transmasculine people who dont want to alter their bodies, and they see their gender identity and their bodies as separate, and thats wonderful too, he said. But in Southeast Asia, where identifying as any part of the LGBTQ+ community poses enormous challenges, menstruation for trans men is more than a matter of shame or dysphoria. The hostile environment toward trans people means unfriendly public washrooms and a lack of access to queer-affirmative healthcare, which leads to trans masc folks facing numerous medical issues. Vihaan grew up in a village in Indias central Maharashtra, where he could never freely express his gender identity. Menstruation made his experience all the more distressing. He long struggled with the pain and discomfort, he told LGBTQ Nation. By the time he reached college and started passing as a boy, his dysphoria around menstruation deepened. I wouldnt use the washroom in the college, so I would drink less water and fall sick often with urinary tract infection, especially while I was menstruating, he remembered. If that werent enough, his degree in social work required him to be out in the field a lot, where he faced the difficulty of finding a public washroom where he didnt have to disclose his identity to the caretaker before entering. Vihaan who now works as an independent consultant in LGBTQ+ awareness and advocacy in Bangalore began HRT at the age of 25. Now 29, he said one of the biggest reliefs of the treatment was that it stopped his menstruation. It makes me very happy and at peace to know that I dont menstruate anymore, but because Ive not had a hysterectomy done and its only through HRT, I do get the menstrual pain every month. While India and neighboring nations continue to battle towards equality and justice for the LGBTQ+ community, countries like the US are now eroding the freedom transgender people fought so hard for.Ale Pedraza Buenahora, a New York-based photojournalist, launched the Repro Masculinity project a collection of interviews with trans masculine and nonbinary people on reproductive health and community care due to their own experience with menstruation. My need to do this project began from my own debilitating experience with menstruation, where I felt the need to speak to other trans masc. people about their journeys and experiences because a lot of the information around it is nowhere to be found. We go to the doctors, and doctors have no idea how to deal with us, and so a lot of the gender-affirming medical interventions we do with our bodies are us figuring out amongst ourselves.Buenahora took testosterone to stall their menstruation, but it didnt work for them. However, they add, There are many trans masc people who started taking testosterone to deal with PCOS, endometriosis or menstrual pain and kept increasing their dosage as, for them, it felt that they were getting closer to their gender identity and ended up transitioning.Jesse Lovegood, a queer-affirmative therapist based in San Francisco who specializes in PTSD and trauma and works with transgender people, articulates how menstruation for many transmen and queer people is a blatant reminder of how their bodies arent shaped in the way that they wanted them to be. They share an astute insight into how the only gender-neutral washroom in public institutions is often reserved for disabled people. The mens washrooms dont even have a trash can, where if someone wants to change their pad or tampon in peace, they cant do it because there is no facility to discard it, they add.Dr Ayden Scheim, Assistant Professor of Epidemiology at the Dornsife School of Public Health at Drexel University in Philadelphia, has done research around transgender people in India and Canada and shared that creating a gender neutral washroom for trans people can also benefit people who need to use the toilet with a different-gender caregiver or who need privacy for health or religious reasons. In our research with transmasculine people in India, we found that 38% had avoided public washrooms in the previous year because they were worried about being mistreated, he told LGBTQ Nation. In earlier research among trans people in Canada, we found that 57% had ever avoided public washrooms for the same reason. So avoiding washrooms is a very common experience among trans people. Physically, this can lead to urinary tract infections, incontinence, and bladder and kidney problems. Transmasculine people can also experience significant anxiety about using or needing to use the washroom in public and may avoid going out or limit their activities because they are unable to count on access to a safe washroom.Lovegood recalls how their menstruation, coupled with endometriosis, was their greatest source of dysphoria even before they knew what dysphoria meant. I was on birth control pills from 14-24, and thats when I largely skipped my menstrual cycle, but then I was diagnosed with oral migraine which restricts people from having a birth control pill as it increases the chance of a stroke, so finally, I had to get a hysterectomy done. While it often takes years to get diagnosed with endometriosis, Jesse believes it became easier for them once they went to a gender clinic specializing in trans health care. Both Lovegood and Buenahora strongly believe in the power of community in helping queer people understand their bodies better, especially in todays increasingly anti-trans political climate.Despite the challenges, many trans men and transmasculine people are slowly reclaiming agency over their menstrual experiences by creating affirming spaces and narratives that center their realities.Through peer-led education, art, community storytelling, and support groups, they are fostering acceptance within themselves and others. For some, this means learning to separate menstruation from femininity, while for others it involves redefining what masculinity looks like in their bodies. These men teach us that its critical to expand the discourse on menstruation and normalize it as something experienced by folks of all genders. As Vihaan expressed, there needs to be greater public media awareness, like campaigns and advertisements for menstrual care that include trans men. These small steps will allow trans men to begin having dignity in menstruation and can help society as a whole redefine masculinity.Subscribe to theLGBTQ Nation newsletterand be the first to know about the latest headlines shaping LGBTQ+ communities worldwide.

14 LGBTQ+ disability activists who are changing the world one fight at a time
Happy Disability Pride Month! There are queer disabled celebrities who are using their fame to advocate for more rights and better representation in media and shows that are starting to do a better job of including queer disabled characters, but its the LGBTQ+ disabled activists who are fighting for years on end to help improve the lives of queer disabled people across the country.Intersectionality is so important, and these queer and disabled activists and advocates have a deep and intrinsic understanding of just how true that is. So to celebrate Disability Pride Month, which coincides with the anniversary of the passing of the Americans with Disabilities Act, were shouting out the trailblazing activists who have spent their careers fighting for the rights of the queer and disabled communities.Nicole AdlerSee on InstagramNicole Adler has been a trailblazer since she was a teenager. Then, at 29, she made history again as the first San Francisco Pride Community Grand Marshal with Down syndrome in 2024.Its a huge honor to represent both the disability and LGBTQ communities. I get to carry the torch and show others that anything is possible if you believe in yourself, Adler said at the Pride celebration that hosted over 400,000 attendees, KGET reported.Corbett OTooleCorbett OToole has been a disability rights activist since the 70s, when she helped to run the Disabled Womens Coalition and worked as a staff member at the Center for Independent Living. This school rejected a student because his parents are gay. Now some parents are leaving.
Parents at a Catholic school in Portland, Oregon, are facing a wrenching choice following the decision by the pastor there to rescind an offer of enrollment to the child of a same-sex couple.Silence is acceptance, said Anne Smeraglio, a parent at St. Agatha Catholic School in Southeast Portland, who, along with at least eight other families she knows of, is considering withdrawing their children from the school. Related A Catholic school fired a teacher just for being gay. An appeals court just agreed with the school. Lonnie Billard got fired for posting about his wedding on Facebook and has been fighting the school in court since 2017. In May, a family headed by a same-sex couple was welcomed to St. Agathas for a shadow day for their child, and the school was aware the parents, who requested anonymity for their safety, were gay, the Oregonian reports. Never Miss a Beat Subscribe to our newsletter to stay ahead of the latest LGBTQ+ political news and insights. Subscribe to our Newsletter today Our child had such a great day there, one parent said. After I picked him up, we went to the park, and when we drove back by, he said, Theres my school.A month later, the parents were invited to a meeting with the schools leader, the Rev. Father Luan Tran, pastor of the neighboring St. Agatha Catholic Church, to better understand your hopes in choosing a Catholic education for your children, and to share more about the teachings of the Catholic church, especially as they relate to the mission and values that guide our school. At the meeting in July, the schools principal presented them with a check refunding their registration fee.Rev. Tran told them that he wanted to protect young children from seeing families like ours, and that having our family be a part of the school could be perceived as a scandal, the parent said. He said that in Catholicism, marriage is between a man and woman, and what would it do to the other kids in the class to find out that our kids have two parents of the same sex?The parents said they havent had the heart yet to tell their child about the change. Word of the pastors actions spread quickly through the St. Agatha community and the surrounding Sellwood neighborhood, where the majority of the schools families reside. It caused an uproar.Kari Kamper, a parent of two St. Agathas graduates, wrote to Tran to say that her family would pause financial support of the school and St. Agathas Catholic Church and that she would encourage others in her community to do the same, until a more inclusive and compassionate approach is restored. To exclude a family based on sexual orientation contradicts the teachings of Jesus, who welcomed the marginalized and loved without condition, Kamper wrote in her letter. It sends a harmful message to students and the broader communitythat some people are unworthy of belonging. This is not the lesson our children should learn from a Catholic school. On Thursday, Tran referred to his choice in a brief email to St Agathas parents.I am writing to you today to address a recent decision concerning the enrollment of a new family at St. Agatha Catholic School. I want to be clear and transparent in sharing that this decision was made solely under my pastoral authority and discernment, as pastor of both the parish and the school.Trans actions come as the archdiocese overseeing St. Agathas takes a conservative turn. In late 2024, the Office for the Mission of Catholic Education for the archdiocese released a new mission statement designed to provide a clear and unifying vision of what, in the heart and mind of the Catholic Church, must be true for a Catholic school to fulfill its mission. The new guidance was mandated by Western Oregon Archbishop Alexander Sample, who has imposed an evangelical approach to education that hews more closely to what he says are the core historical teachings of the Catholic Church.Sample is the last American residential bishop appointed by Benedict XVI, Pope Franciss orthodox predecessor.Smeraglio, one of the parents considering leaving the school, said she wants to see Tran reverse his decision and offer an apology. But shes torn.I think part of the reason we have seen the changes in our society in recent years is because good people dont stand up and say no. But I dont want to see St. Agatha hurt. My kid has been incredibly happy there. The teachers have been amazing.Subscribe to theLGBTQ Nation newsletterand be the first to know about the latest headlines shaping LGBTQ+ communities worldwide.

Grindr reverses 'no Zionists' ban for users' profiles
Not too soon after Grindr users reported that the phrase "no Zionists" triggers an error message when they try to put the phrase in the bio section of their profile, the app reversed its stance. In a statement to Out, Grindr said that the policy change was "implemented following user escalations around its potentially inflammatory nature." However, a spokesperson for the app confirmed that they regularly examine its moderation policies and said that the company "recently decided to reverse this one upon review. The app is once again allowing the phrase after 404 Media reported that the app banned it and still allowed users to put words like "No FFA (fat, femmes, or Asians)," a common phrase used to discriminate against other users and other exclusionary language. It's unclear when the ban on the "no Zionists" phrase started, but users have reported seeing the phrase on the app in the past year. A Zionist refers to a person who supports the belief that all Jews constitute one nation; since the war between Israel and Gaza began in 2023, many supporters of Palestine have been vocal in opposing Zionism as a political and ideological movement. But some Zionists have framed this opposition as antisemitic. There is no specific ban against "no Zionists" in the app's terms of service, but the terms do note that users are not allowed to "post, store, send, transmit, or disseminate any information or material which a reasonable person could deem to be objectionable, defamatory, libelous, offensive, obscene, indecent, pornographic, harassing, threatening, embarrassing, distressing, vulgar, hateful, racially or ethnically or otherwise offensive to any group or individual, intentionally misleading, false, or otherwise inappropriate, regardless of whether this material or its dissemination is unlawful. The app has long been criticized for allowing discriminatory phrases that are passed off as "preferences" based on race, and in recent years, the company has made moves to try to combat this by removing the ethnicity filter in 2020.This story has been updated to reflect Grindr's decision to reverse the ban on including "no Zionists" in profiles.

Pete Buttigieg weighs in on fairness of transgender kids playing girls sports
Former Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg offered one of the Democratic Partys most carefully worded responses yet to the intensifying debate over transgender youth participation in sports on Monday morning in an NPR interview, one that acknowledged fairness concerns while warning against federal overreach. The approach starts with compassion, Buttigieg, who is gay, told Morning Edition host Steve Inskeep. Compassion for transgender people, compassion for families, especially of young people who are going through this, and also empathy for people who are not sure what all of this means for them.Related: Supreme Court to decide whether states can ban transgender women & girls from sportsAsked whether a parent concerned about their child facing a trans kid in girls sports has a case, Buttigieg said, Sure. But he rejected blanket policies like the federal bans being enacted by the Trump administration, saying, These decisions should be in the hands of sports leagues and school boards and not politicians, least of all politicians in Washington trying to use this as a political pawn.Buttigiegs remarks came days after Rahm Emanuel, former President Joe Bidens ambassador to Japan, former mayor of Chicago, and a potential 2028 presidential candidate, told Megyn Kelly that a man cant become a woman, a comment that directly contradicted party orthodoxy and sparked fresh divisions over how Democrats should approach transgender rights.I think most reasonable people would recognize that there are serious fairness issues if you just treat this as not mattering when a trans athlete wants to compete in womens sports, Buttigieg told NPR.The political stakes are high. A June 2025 Gallup poll found that 69 percent of U.S. adults believe trans athletes should only be allowed to play on teams matching their gender assigned at birth, including 91 percent of Republicans, 66 percent of independents, and 45 percent of Democrats. Support for transgender athletes inclusion has declined steadily since Gallup first asked the question in 2021.Related: Pete Buttigieg, Charlamagne tha God say Democrats should hammer home Trumps Epstein cover-upSince returning to the Oval Office in January, President Donald Trump has signed executive orders eliminating federal recognition of gender identity, banning trans military service, restricting access to gender-affirming care, and prohibiting transgender girls and women from playing on female sports teams. The United States Supreme Court will weigh in on the legalities of banning transgender people from sports by next summer. The court has agreed to hear two cases involving transgender athletes next term, which begins in October.LGBTQ+ rights groups have warned that such bans are not only discriminatory but also dangerous. A July 2025 fact sheet from GLAAD noted that fewer than 10 transgender student-athletes are competing among the NCAAs 510,000 athletes. It also pointed to documented cases of cisgender girls being falsely accused of being trans, harassed, or subjected to invasive screening, consequences not limited to trans youth.Related: Gov. Gavin Newsom faces backlash over comments he made about transgender student athletesIn March, California Gov. Gavin Newsom, a fellow Democrat, received harsh backlash for telling far-right operative Charlie Kirk that trans kids participation in sports is deeply unfair."Pressed on Trumps repeated slogan, No boys in girls sports, Buttigieg declined to echo the rhetoric. I think that chess is different from weightlifting, and weightlifting is different from volleyball, and middle school is different from the Olympics, he said. So thats exactly why I think that we shouldnt be grandstanding on this as politicians. We should be empowering communities, organizations, and schools to make the right decisions.

Tea User Files Class Action After Womens Safety App Exposes Data
A user of womens dating safety app Tea has filed a class action lawsuit after the app repeatedly exposed users sensitive data, including selfies, photographs of IDs, and more than a million direct messages sent by users. Both data breaches were first revealed by 404 Media. The plaintiff, California resident Griselda Reyes, seeks to hold the Defendant responsible for the harms it caused and will continue to cause her and thousands of other similarity situated persons in the massive and preventable cyberattack, the lawsuit reads.Tea aims to provide a space where women can anonymously sign up and safely share information about men they are dating. Tea skyrocketed to the top of the U.S. Apple App Store last week, after which members of the notorious troll forum 4chan found an exposed Tea database which contained tens of thousands of images of Tea users and identity documents. Tea requires users to take a selfie when making an account to ensure that only women can access the service. The lawsuit says Reyes submitted an image containing her PII [personally identifiable information] to Tea as part of the sign-up process. The lawsuit was filed by Cole & Van Note, a law firm that deals with data breaches almost exclusively.A lot of women went on the app with the express or implied promise that their information would be kept secure, that the information would only be used to verify their identity, Scott E. Cole, one of the lawyers who filed the complaint against Tea, told us on a call. I think that for people who are already in the segment of the population that is worried about online dating, the people that went to this site thought they were going to be treated with their information would be treated with anonymity, and that that trust was violated.Cole said he expects that more lawsuits against Tea will be filed across the country first, and that he hopes all of them will join the class action.404 Media first reported that data exposure on Friday. On Monday, 404 Media revealed a second security issue that allowed unauthorized parties to download more than a million direct messages between Tea users. Many of those messages were highly sensitive, and included discussions around abortion, cheating, and other personal data like phone numbers. The lawsuit points to both of these breaches and says that Tea has not notified individual victims, instead saying Reyes learned of the incidents from media reports. On Monday Tea said in a social media post it was temporarily stopping the direct messaging system.Tea declined to comment for this story.

FTC seeks public comment about being deceived by gender-affirming care providers
The Federal Trade Commission has launched a public inquiry to gauge the harms consumers may have experienced from false or unsupported claims about gender-affirming care. A Monday press release asks for public comments on any issues or concerns related to alleged unfair or deceptive trade practices regarding gender-affirming care for minors. Related Court says Christian mom can discriminate against LGBTQ+ foster kids She wont affirm their gender identity or call them by their preferred name but claims she has no problem loving them and accepting them as they are. Throughout the release, the term gender-affirming care is in quotations, making it clear the administration does not find its existence at all legitimate. Insights for the LGBTQ+ community Subscribe to our briefing for insights into how politics impacts the LGBTQ+ community and more. Subscribe to our Newsletter today The press release also brought up a July 9 workshop hosted by the agency on The Dangers of Gender-Affirming Care for Minors and claimed the series of doctors, parents, ethicists, and detransitioners who spoke indicated that practitioners of gender-affirming care may be actively deceiving consumers.Speakers at the workshop included Jay Richards, Senior Research Fellow at the anti-LGBTQ+ Heritage Foundation, the group known for being the architect of Project 2025; and Jamie Reed, executive director of a small advocacy group called the LGBT Courage Coalition, which opposes gender-affirming care for minors.Against this backdrop, the release continued, the FTC seeks to evaluate whether consumers (in particular, minors) have been harmed and whether medical professionals or others [failed] to disclose material risks associated with gender-affirming care or making false or unsubstantiated claims about the benefits or effectiveness of gender-affirming care.' The request is in keeping with the current administrations attack on gender-affirming care and the GOPs continued quest to enact laws that punish medical professionals who provide this care to minors. In January, the president signed an executive orderbanning trans youth and adults under the age of 19 from accessing puberty blockers, hormone therapy, and surgical procedures or, as the order calls them, chemical or surgical mutilation as gender-affirming care.Across the country today, medical professionals are maiming and sterilizing a growing number of impressionable children under the radical and false claim that adults can change a childs sex through a series of irreversible medical interventions, the order states, omitting the fact thatgender-affirming care` has been safely provided to cisgender and trans children for decades and is suggested as a best medical practice by most major American medical and psychological associations. Even more, gender-affirming surgery is rarely performed on minors. Instead, minors with gender dysphoria are often aided through social transition and are sometimes given puberty blockers, which are reversible. Recently, the Supreme Court ruled in United States v. Skrmetti that Tennessees ban on gender-affirming care for minors can remain in place. The administration is already using the ruling to justify its attacks on the practice, such as in a recent Department of Education order that five Virginia school districts immediately end their trans-inclusive bathroom policies.Subscribe to theLGBTQ Nation newsletterand be the first to know about the latest headlines shaping LGBTQ+ communities worldwide.

Unshakeable artist cancels Smithsonian show after attempted censorship of Black trans woman painting
Renowned artist Amy Sherald has canceled her upcoming solo exhibition at the Smithsonian Institutions National Portrait Gallery over concerns that a painting of a Black transgender woman would be removed from the show.As the New York Times first reported, Sherald, best known for her 2018 portrait of former First Lady Michelle Obama, said shed made the decision after being told that the museum was considering removing Trans Forming Liberty ahead of her shows debut in Washington, D.C., in September. The painting depicts a Black trans woman in a blue gown holding a torch sprouting flowers in a pose reminiscent of the Statue of Liberty. Related Smithsonian cancels drag events as LGBTQ+ employees decry censorship Republicans called out the Smithsonian for its LGBTQ+ programming and now events are getting mysteriously canceled. In a statement, Sherald said that she was informed by the National Portrait Gallery that concerns had been raised internally about the museums inclusion of a portrait of a trans woman titled Trans Forming Liberty. Insights for the LGBTQ+ community Subscribe to our briefing for insights into how politics impacts the LGBTQ+ community and more. Subscribe to our Newsletter today These concerns led to discussions about removing the work from the exhibition, her statement continued. While no single person is to blame, its clear that institutional fear shaped by a broader climate of political hostility toward trans lives played a role.According to the Times, Sherald said that on July 21, Lonnie G. Bunch III, the secretary of the Smithsonian, had proposed replacing Trans Forming Liberty with a video of people reacting to the painting and discussing trans rights. The video, she said, would have opened up for debate the value of trans visibility, and I was opposed to that being a part of the American Sublime narrative. However, as both the Times and the Washington Post report, in a statement, a Smithsonian spokesperson claimed that Bunch had actually proposed that the video accompany the painting to contextualize the piece. In a letter to Bunch, Sherald wrote that she had entered into the collaboration with the Smithsonian in good faith, believing that the institution shared a commitment to presenting work that reflects the full, complex truth of American life.Unfortunately, it has become clear that the conditions no longer support the integrity of the work as conceived, she wrote. Portraiture has always been my way of asserting presence of creating visibility where there has too often been erasure. When that visibility is compromised, even subtly, it alters not only the artwork, but the message it carries. I cannot consent to that.Trans Forming Liberty has been part of Sheralds exhibition, American Sublime, since it debuted at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art last year and is currently on view at the Whitney Museum in New York through August 10. In her statement, Sherald, who would have been the first contemporary Black artist to have a solo exhibition at the National Portrait Gallery, explained that the portrait exists to hold space for someone whose humanity has been politicized and disregarded. I cannot in good conscience comply with a culture of censorship, especially when it targets vulnerable communities, she said. At a time when transgender people are being legislated against, silenced, and endangered across our nation, silence is not an option. I stand by my work. I stand by my sitters. I stand by the truth that all people deserve to be seen not only in life, but in art. While we understand Amys decision to withdraw her show from the National Portrait Gallery, we are disappointed that Smithsonian audiences will not have an opportunity to experience American Sublime, a statement from the Smithsonian read, according to the Times. The Smithsonian strives to foster a greater and shared understanding. By presenting and contextualizing art, the Smithsonian aims to inspire, challenge, and impact audiences in meaningful and thoughtful ways. Unfortunately, we could not come to an agreement with the artist. We remain appreciative and inspired by Ms. Sherald, her artwork and commitment to portraiture. In a statement responding to the cancelation, Lindsey Halligan, a special assistant to the president, said that Trans Forming Liberty, sought to reinterpret one of our nations most sacred symbols through a divisive and ideological lens, and that its inclusion in a National Portrait Gallery exhibition fundamentally strayed from the mission and spirit of our national museums. As both the Times and the Post note, Halligan is one of the people behind the March 27 executive order asserting that the Smithsonian has come under the influence of a divisive, race-centered ideology and directing Halligan and Vice President JD Vance to remove improper ideology from the institutions member museums and prohibit expenditure on exhibits or programs that degrade shared American values, divide Americans based on race.In May, the president announced that he was firing former National Portrait Gallery director Kim Sajet, though the president does not have the authority to do so, accusing her of being partisan and a strong supporter of DEI, according to both the Times and the Post. Sajet later resigned.Subscribe to theLGBTQ Nation newsletterand be the first to know about the latest headlines shaping LGBTQ+ communities worldwide.

Lesbian star says it's time for a full bush summer: 'I'm talking big, bold, unkempt & beautiful'
Gabby Windey is teaming up with Miracle-Gro for a delightfully euphemistic ad campaign encouraging everyone to indulge in "full bush summer."Our favorite Faithful donned a shirt that reads, "Nobody knows I'm growing a full bush rn," for her appearance in a video posted to the company's social media accounts over the weekend."I'm going full bush this summer. I'm talking big, bold, unkempt, and beautiful," Windey said, deploying the enunciation and speaking style that's already spawned memorable lip syncs. "No more telling me to tidy up. I want it wild. And free and lush. And what if I said I want to grow it even bigger, healthier, and fuller? Sue me."As long as you're aware that Miracle-Gro sells plant food to help greenery grow, you can more or less guess how the remainder of the ad plays out. But with Windey front and center, it's worth watching her cook.See on InstagramThe comments on the video have been just as enjoyable, from the jokery ("I like big bushes and I cannot lie") to the applause."As a social manager, I have never been happier that their marketing team got this greenlit," one person wrote. "this is so good.""Whoever thought of this deserves a raise...stock in the company...a parade!! Truly brilliant," said another. And one thing everyone seemed to agree on is that opting to pull Windey in for this particular campaign was an inspired choice."Dream partnership," reads one comment. "I'm gagged and gooped."

11 celebs who went from twink to twunk we cant stop thirsting over
While some folks may joke about twink-death, the evolution from twink to twunk is one of our favorite journeys to chart. Obviously, its not the only way to inspire thirst in the gay population, after all, we love our Bears and forever twinks, too (shoutout Troye Sivan)! But recent years have seen a growing pipeline in Hollywood, with so many popular twink actors deciding to hit the gym and become the twunks we know them as now. Fans have absolutely loved seeing so many performers share their transformations, especially since they often come with said twunks sharing this impressive journey through thirst traps online.Twink death is coming, but some muscly stars got ahead of the curve and ditched the title all on their own. Keep scrolling to learn which celebrities have transformed from twinks into twunks before our very eyes!Zac EfronNo conversation about twinks turning into twunks is complete without discussing the blueprint: Mr. Troy Bolton himself, Zac Efron. While the mid-2000s featured him mainly as a boy-next-door-styled heartthrob, demanding movie roles brought the twunk out of him, with Efron making waves as one of the most muscular actors in Hollywood by 2012. Hes certainly graduated from twunk to daddy territory nowadays, but that doesnt mean the man shouldnt be appreciated for paving the way for twink transformations.Kit ConnorMost viewers were introduced to Kit Connor as Heartstoppers Nick Nelson, with fans adoring this complete sweetheart of a character, and then getting shocked when they visited the actors Instagram and saw just what a jacked powerhouse he was in real life! Connors path to being a twunk was an unfortunate one; he initially began working out due to fans criticizing him for not looking as buff as Nick from the Heartstopper comics. Luckily, the young performer has turned the gym into a nurturing space, developing a good relationship with his (super muscular) body and spreading a message of body positivity for twunks everywhere!David ArchuletaWhether hes belting his heart out on American Idol or posting spicy pictures online, LGBTQ+ music lovers just cant seem to get enough of David Archuleta. Its why so many were watching intently as the musician began to share progress pictures of himself working out. A love for fitness saw him start to hit the gym more and more, with the Creme Brulee singer quickly abandoning his status as a twink to become one of the music industrys premier twunk artists!Nicholas GalitzineFrom Red, White, and Royal Blue to Bottoms, fans knew Nicholas Galitzine as the cute blonde who couldnt stop starring in LGBTQ+ moviesand then, he got cast in the upcoming He-Man revival. Gone was the floppy-haired Twink, and in his place was a shockingly shredded Twunk ready to fight by the power of Grayskull! It was a total physical shift from anything viewers had seen him in before, and while it may have robbed fans of the twink we all know, it gave them the superpowered twunk Galitzine is now.Tyler PoseyWolfpack, rise up! Because nobody transformed from a twink to a twunk like Tyler Posey after the first season of Teen Wolf; in that inaugural installment, Posey had none of the muscles and abs hes known for today. He initially looked like your typical twink, but the rising demands of the series pushed him to basically become a werewolf in real life. Funnily enough, he wont be the only shapeshifting twunk to show up on this listJonathan BennettWhile many fans fell in love with him as Aaron Samuels in Mean Girls, Jonathan Bennett has spent the past decade making his mark in countless other ways including the steamy workout pictures that fill his social media. The gay actor/author has been completely open about his personal life with his husband, which includes treating fans to the intense transformation he went on from lanky leading man to the mature twunk he is now.Elliot PageElliot Page is a talented actor, an absolute trailblazer, and a fierce advocate hes also one of the poster boys for twinks turning into twunks! Fans have been in awe of the physical fitness journey the man has been on recently; hes shared how transitioning has not only boosted his mental and physical health but has allowed him to engage in fitness like he never has before. Its a legitimately beautiful reason for his departure from twink to twunk, and it just so happens to come with some truly stellar thirst traps! Will PoulterFew moments in the film industry have been as shocking as watching the awkward guy from Were The Millers become the buff twunk that Will Poulter is today. The man has explained that his physical transformation is all due to one company: Marvel. Becoming a part of this cinematic universe seems to require an extreme amount of muscle, a requirement that Poulter completely exceeded to play the shining Adam Warlock and leave his Twink self in the dust!Russell ToveyFew twunks have garnered as much global attention as the UKs Russell Tovey. Originally gaining fame as the timid Twink werewolf George on Being Human, the past decade has seen the man get more and more beefy (to the delight of his many fans). Hes discussed how fitness is actually a coping mechanism; a brutal attack at 18 left him traumatized and feeling weak. The Gay actor uses the gym as a way to feel more secure and confident in his body, a transformation that has not only helped him become an international advocate, but has also made him one of the leading figures of the Twink-Twunk pipeline!Tom HollandA list of former twinks could never be complete without your friendly neighborhood Spider-Man, Tom Holland! The lovable superhero has made comic fans swoon ever since he first entered the MCU, an entrance that coincided with the young man deciding to ditch his Twink identity for a ripped Twunk one. Like others on this list, this was due to the physical demands of being a Marvel superhero, a title he doesnt take lightly. Its a commitment that not only makes him one of the best Spider-Men cinema has ever seen, but has created the twunk appearance fans are obsessed with now!Taylor LautnerMost people decide to become a twunk simply because they want to other times, its because they want to keep their job! Such was the case of Taylor Lautner, who was told he wouldnt be able to return as Jacob Black in the Twilight franchise if he didnt bulk up. Its safe to say the man wanted to keep his job, because by the time he returned in New Moon, gone was the twinky Jacob of the first film. In his place was a bulky werewolf who broke ground in terms of twunk representation (and acted as a gay awakening for countless fans!).

Germanys parliament banned the Pride flag. It backfired spectacularly.
Germans turned out in huge numbers for Berlins Christopher Street Day Pride celebration on Saturday, a rebuke to rising far-right anti-LGBTQ+ activists who have cast a pall over many of this years commemorations of the Stonewall Riots and the fight for LGBTQ+ equality. The turnout was also a warning to German lawmakers hoping to assuage far-right voters by dialing back their support of the LGBTQ+ community. 'Heterofatalism' is plaguing the straights are gays feeling it, too? Dating experts explain
The ubiquity of dating apps means that you can open your phone, swipe right, and easily find a hookup. This can be liberating while simultaneously leading to Grindr fatigue and a frustration with hookup culture. But the fallout from heterosexual dating seems even more overwhelming, as evidenced by the discourse consuming social media and even inspiring a new term for how bad its gotten out there, especially for heterosexual women: heterofatalism. There has been endless discourse about men suffering from the loneliness epidemic, despite straight women constantly complaining about the poor (or even scary) dating behavior of men, that have women running away from the societally prescribed life of straight marriage and toward singledom.Which has us asking, are the straights ok?This widespread dissatisfaction with dating men, known as heterofatalism, may be plaguing straight women right now, but it may also be impacting the dating lives of bi and pan women and nonbinary folks. So to help us define heterofatalism and unpack how its affecting women, and how it comes into play with queer daters, we talked to relationship experts to break it all down. What is heterofatalism?Heterofatalism, a clever term to describe straight womens frustration with the way men behave when dating, was coined by sexuality scholar Asa Seresin, who originally called it heteropessimism. Its that weary ugh, men energy, but laced with deeper grief, licensed marriage and family therapist Melissa Klass tells PRIDE. "More recently, the term has gained traction online through queer creators who use it to describe a kind of psychic exhaustion that comes from navigating patriarchy through intimacy.According to Stewart Parnacott, a nurse practitioner, instructor at Baylor College of Medicine, and proud member of the LGBTQ+ community, heterofatalism is the frustration that dating men is inevitably going to be disappointing or draining, causing people to use dark humor to cope with this reality. You can usually tell when someone is stuck in it, he says. They talk about dating men with a tone that sounds more like obligation than choice. They joke about itmemes, sarcasm, all of thatbut under the humor, theres burnout and a real sense of why bother? What causes heterofatalism? At its core, heterofatalism grows out of repeated disillusionment. Many womenespecially straight or bi women partnered with menare socialized to expect emotional reciprocity and partnership, only to find themselves doing the bulk of the emotional labor, Klass reveals. Over time, this can morph into a kind of low-grade despair: the belief that straight relationships are inherently asymmetrical, and that men simply cant meet them where they are. Add to that cultural scripts that equate womanhood with caregiving and coupledom with success, and you have a recipe for stuckness.Sofie Roos, a bisexual licensed sexologist and relationship therapist, says that having every relationship end in disappointment because of the actions of the men you're dating can lead to overwhelming feelings of heterofatalism. Maybe one has dated a man that took no responsibility, that wasnt able to communicate their boundaries and needs, or that didnt respect yours, or that expected you to be the one making the relationship work out, this is what causes a fatalistic view of dating men, she explains. Parnacott also says that the foundation of the way weve structured straight dating leads to these pessimistic feelings about the whole endeavor. Emotional labor falls mostly on women. Partners avoiding emotional vulnerability. Power or effort feeling lopsided. After a while, it stops feeling like bad luck and starts to feel systemic, as if the way we structure straight dating is part of the problem, he says. The fact that this word exists and resonates suggests that people are questioning those old relationship scripts more openly now. What does this mean about the current state of straight dating and relationships?Seresin may have coined the term back in 2019, but heterofatalism has entered the cultural consciousness once again because of dating fatigue and an op-ed in The New York Times Magazine titled, The Trouble With Wanting Men which documented the dating struggles of the author and her group of girlfriends. The rise of heterofatalism as a recognizable term suggests a generational breaking point. Its a symptom of collective burnoutemotional, relational, even erotic, Klass warns. Many women are waking up to the idea that what theyve been told to expect from men is not just falling short, but actively diminishing them. At the same time, theres often ambivalence: a desire to still want men, even while mourning what those relationships cost. The term gives shape to that in-between space of longing and loss. What are the signs that someone is experiencing it?Heterofatalism can crop up in subtle and not-so-subtle ways that are easy to spot once you know to look for them. You may feel hopeless about relationships, but you are also stuck in an endless cycle of dating because you still desperately want to find a deeper romantic connection. A common sign is that you with a slightly bitter tone often make jokes about all men being the same but still keep dating them, because you so deeply want to find someone thats good for you, Roos explains.Or you may start to feel resigned to the fact that things arent going to change and dating might just not be for you.According to Klass, some women might start fantasizing about queer relationships not as a rejection of straightness, but as an escape from the emotional labor often required in heterosexual dynamics. Is heterofatalism something LGBTQ+ people who date men can relate to?Heterosexual women arent the only ones who date straight men, as tragic as that may be. So how does heterofatalism impact gay, bi, and pan folks who are dating men?Queer peopleespecially bi and pan women and nonbinary folksmay experience heterofatalism with an added layer of complexity, Klass says. There can be grief around choosing relationships that dont reflect ones fuller sense of self, or feeling emotionally let down by men after experiencing more egalitarian dynamics in queer partnerships. There can also be internal conflictfeeling like youve failed queerness by ending up with a man, even if the relationship is chosen freely. The tension between identity and experience is real.Parnacott also says that while these feelings can show up in queer dating, its very different for gay and bi men, Gay and bi men talk about the frustrations of dating men, but without the same gender-role baggage. Their complaints are more about behaviorcommunication, commitment, reliabilitythan the broader structure of the relationship itself. The overlap is the fatigue, but the reasons can differ. How is it different for queer folks, and how is it the same?According to Roos, The similarity is in the feelings of frustration over men's behavior in relationships on a structural level that you as a woman queer or not, feel as if you need to do more of the emotional work in the relationship in a way that doesn't feel fair, but with straight relationships there isnt the added layers of homophobia, gender dysphoria, or the feeling of needing to prove that queer relationships also can work out that people experience if they are queer. For queer folks, heterofatalism often exists alongside a deep awareness that relationships can be differentbecause theyve lived them differently, Klass explains. That contrast can make the disappointment sharper. But queer folks may also have more language, more community, and more tools to name and navigate the dynamics at play. Still, the sameness is in the emotional math: doing the work, holding the relationship together, shrinking yourself to avoid rupture. Those patterns cross identity lines. Can it be overcomeand if so, how?Parnacott says that making changes means setting firmer boundaries, finding partners who value emotional reciprocity, and sometimes working with a therapist or coach to address the belief that all relationships will feel the same. When someone assumes every connection will hurt, theyre more likely to accept unhealthy dynamics because they expect nothing better. While you might be able to make some changes in your own dating life by doing the things, real change is only going to happen if we overhaul the system. Figuring out a way to dismantle the patriarchy would help too.Overcoming heterofatalism means addressing not just the partner, but the system, Klass says. It starts with naming the dynamic without shame, then getting curious: What do I actually want from a relationship? What parts of me have gone quiet to keep this going? What would it take to feel met, not just needed? Therapy can help, but so can conversations with other women, with queer folks, with people outside the bubble of heteronormativity. Heterofatalism thrives in silence. Naming it is the first subversive act.Experts cited:Melissa Klass, a licensed marriage and family therapist.Stewart Parnacott, a nurse practitioner, instructor at Baylor College of Medicine, and proud member of the LGBTQ+ community.Sofie Roos, a bisexual licensed sexologist and relationship therapist.
