WWW.LGBTQNATION.COMWhen a trans woman first accused Jeffrey Epstein of rape, the media mocked herOne of the first people to make public allegations against now-deceased billionaire child sex trafficker Jeffrey Epstein was Ava Cordero, a transgender Latina woman. Cordero, a model, was transphobically mocked in the media after she filed an October 2007 lawsuit claiming that Epstein had forced her into bizarre and unnatural sex acts when she was 16, leaving her deeply hurt.In her lawsuit, Cordero alleged that, in 1999, Epstein lured her to his mansion, undressed, and requested a massage. Cordero said she felt frightened but agreed, at which point Epstein suddenly began violently touching her genitals, pushing her head downward and demanding oral sex. Related Pete Buttigieg explains how the Epstein files might tear apart the MAGA base: Extraordinary Its his supporters saying, Wait a minute, youre insulting me. And thats a whole different thing. During the related court hearings, investigators discovered Corderos trans identity, HIV-positive status, past psychiatric hospitalizations, and past use of heroin and other drugs. Her case was dismissed for falling outside of the five-year statute of limitations for pursuing such charges, though she had unsuccessfully sought to claim insanity in hopes of extending the time limit for pressing charges. The New York Posts October 23, 2007, coverage included the headline, Gender-bend shocker, Kinky-sex suit gal is a man. The article claimed that she had been living as a female since age 12 and had been taking gender-affirming hormone treatment. The Post reported that Corderos lawsuit against Epstein said that Epsteins assault required her to seek medical and psychological care. Never Miss a Beat Subscribe to our newsletter to stay ahead of the latest LGBTQ+ political news and insights. Subscribe to our Newsletter today The story also alleged that she had one MySpace page listing her gender as male and two others listing her gender as female, and one page detailing a masturbatory fantasy of being with multiple men and women. The article claimed she had written on one of the pages, Im a spoiled b***h and really mean I love to have fun, hang out and party! Oh and Im a junk head (pills, designer substances). However, Cordero said that the MySpace pages were forgeries that she neither created nor maintained. Epsteins then-spokesman Howard Rubenstein called the report shocking and said that his wealth made him a an easy target for money-seeking lawyers and their women,' adding, It wouldnt surprise me if the next claim was from the Loch Ness monster. The article quoted Corderos lawyer, roommate, and ex-boyfriend William Unroch as saying, Shes female and shes always been female. I may also be female. Im checking with my doctors Everyone knows that she [has a problem with drugs.] Shes mentally unwell and on medication for her psychosis. The Post also published an October 24, 2007, article about Cordero with the headline S(he) has a history: Bogus sex suit. The article alleged that she had filed a $10 million lawsuit against married lawyer Glen Gentile, alleging that he had raped her as a sex slave when she was a minor and also paid for her apartment and drugs during their affair. The article said the lawsuit was dismissed upon finding that their sexual relations had occurred when she was 19 years old.In 2009, she lost her libel case against the publication, which she alleged had insinuated that she was a promiscuous slut. The LGBTQ+ media watchdog organization GLAAD has referred to the Post as a dubious source that has pushed transphobic narratives. One of Epstein's victims was a trans woman, but nobody paid attention because she's trans + Latina. The Post and Times of Israel even ran hit pieces on Ava Cordero like the 2007 articles below. Epstein could've been stopped sooner if society listened to POC, trans people or girls pic.twitter.com/bdbWvIM1rF Eli Erlick (@EliErlick) July 29, 2025 The FBI andThe Miami Herald eventually identified 40 to 80 of Epsteins rape victims, respectively, including girls between the ages of 12 and 16. Epstein also allegedly recorded videos of powerful elites having sex with these girls in his private residences and had ties to Donald Trump, former President Bill Clinton, and others who have also denied any involvement in sexual misconduct.A 2007 indictment of 60 criminal charges against Epstein alleged that he had met underage girls at his New York mansion and flown underage girls to his private island in St. Thomas. There, he allegedly nakedly fondled the girls under the guise of them giving him massages. However, Epstein was given a sweetheart deal by federal prosecutors in 2007 that halted the FBI investigation, sealed the investigatory court documents against him, and allowed him to serve only 18 months in prison after pleading guilty to two felony prostitution charges. Subsequent trafficking charges resulted in his July 2019 arrest and detainment at the federal Metropolitan Correctional Center in New York City. He died on August 10, 2019. New York Citys medical examiner ruled Epsteins death a suicide, but Michael Baden, a board-certified forensic pathologist hired to oversee the autopsy by Epsteins brother, Mark, said he believed that Epstein died more likely due to homicidal strangulation than suicidal hanging.Conspiracy theorists have long claimed that someone murdered Epstein to keep him from revealing the powerful elites who raped children alongside him. The president and fellow Republicans continue to delay the public release of investigatory documents (aka the Epstein files), going so far as to allege that Democrats falsified claims to destroy the reputations of high profile Republicans and conservatives. Epsteins associate, Ghislaine Maxwell, is currently facing charges of helping groom underage girls for Epstein to rape. The presidents Justice Department has reportedly been questioning her, possibly in hopes of identifying high-profile wrongdoers while absolving the president of any wrongdoing. Trump had a decades-long friendship with Epsteinand joked about how his friend was fun and terrific andliked women on the younger side. Trump has also beenfound liable for sexual abuse by a jury, hasadmitted to sexually assaulting womenin the past, and hasadmitted to walking in on underage girlsas they changed clothes. He has been accused of sexual assault or other forms of sexual improprietyby at least 27 women.Subscribe to theLGBTQ Nation newsletterand be the first to know about the latest headlines shaping LGBTQ+ communities worldwide.0 Comentários 0 Compartilhamentos 6 Visualizações 0 Anterior

GAYETY.COMAlexandra Shipp Says Love, Simon Inspired Young Fans to Come Outand Taught Parents How to Love ThemAt a recent Collider Ladies Night After Dark panel at San Diego Comic-Con, Alexandra Shipp opened up about the lasting legacy of Love, Simon and how it helped shape a more inclusive future for LGBTQ+ storytelling on screen. The actress first made waves in Hollywood with standout performances in biopics like Straight Outta Compton and blockbusters like X-Men: Apocalypse, where she portrayed a young Storm. But it was her role as Abby Suso in the 2018 teen rom-com Love, Simon that cemented her place in the hearts of queer audiences everywhere. In the film, Shipp played one of Simon Spiers close friends, offering support, sass, and vulnerability as Simon navigated his journey of coming out. While the story centered on Simon (played by Nick Robinson), it was the casts ensemble dynamic that made the film feel like a warm hug to so many viewers. The Impact of Love, SimonDuring the SDCC panel, Shipp was asked to recall the first time she felt the true power of her work. Without hesitation, she pointed to Love, Simon.I did a little movie called Love, Simon, and I remember when we were doing the press tour for it, how many young kids were coming up and saying that it was inspiring for them to come out to their families, she said. And what was also beautiful was parents who came up to us and said, You showed us how to accept our child the right way.Shipp emphasized how powerful media can be in shaping how people treat one another. With TV and film, we have this finite amount of time to set the bar for human beings and how we should act through representation, she explained. For people to see something and go, Oh, thats how you tell someone I love you the right wayit really kind of makes a difference.A Domino Effect in Queer StorytellingSince the films release, Shipp says shes seen a noticeable ripple effect in how queer stories are told. I was able to kind of feel that, and since that movie, see kind of a domino effect when it comes to queer representation in TV and film. So I was like, Oh hell yeah. Thats what we do.Following Love, Simons success, the Love, Victor spinoff series launched on Hulu, bringing even more queer love stories to the forefront. And Shipp herself has continued to support LGBTQ+ narratives, both on screen and off, as an openly queer actress using her platform to push for authentic, joyful representation.Coming Out at 28In a deeply personal Instagram post, she shared her own coming out journeyone marked by fear, pressure, and ultimately, self-love.Hi. I didnt come out until I was 28, she wrote. Though I dont believe in regrets, this would definitely be #1 for myself. I denied denied denied. I struggled with not only my sexuality, but my femininity. I was scared it was too late. I was scared I wasnt going to be able to get work. I was scared no one would ever love me. Scared. Scared. Scared. Her honesty resonated with many. Its exhausting being scared all the time. Its exhausting chasing other peoples ideas and opinions of who you should be, she wrote. Today Im happy in ways I dont think my kid self could imagine. I get to be exactly who I want to be EVERY F*CKING DAY and it feels incredible!! Its never too late to be you.In the face of industry pressure, Shipp has chosen authenticity over fear. If I dont work because of a flawed, racist and homophobic system, then it was never the right thing for me, she stated. Im not denying anything anymore. Im not scared anymore. I have #pride in who I am and what Im doing on this planet. I am myself and I love LOVE.Source0 Comentários 0 Compartilhamentos 4 Visualizações 0 Anterior

While the show has had LGBTQ+ celebrities in the past, this is the first time an all-trans team has taken the buzzer. The milestone arrives during a time when transgender representation in media continues to face political backlashbut also when the call for visibility, joy, and support has never been louder. The format of the episode will feature multiple rounds. Team Laverne will go head-to-head with Team Diplo in the first segment, while the casts of General Hospital and The Young and the Restless battle it out in the second. The winners of each round typically proceed to the Fast Money round, where they compete for a cash prize to donate to their chosen charity. While the competition is a fun-filled display of quick-thinking and comedic answers, the cultural impact of this particular episode runs much deeper. Cox and her teammates are not only representing themselvestheyre shining a light on a community that continues to fight for equity and inclusion in all spaces, including entertainment.Whether they walk away with the top prize or not, Team Laverne is already victorious in many ways: Theyve made history, had fun doing it, and brought a necessary spotlight to trans joy, love, and unity.Dont miss the historic episode of Celebrity Family Feud on Thursday, July 31 at 8/7c on ABC, and streaming next day on Hulu.Source0 Comentários 0 Compartilhamentos 4 Visualizações 0 Anterior

GAYETY.COMJinkx Monsoon Drags J.K. Rowlings Anti-Trans Viewsand the Internet Is LivingIn a viral clip from her upcoming Ziwe interview, Broadway powerhouse and RuPauls Drag Race winner Jinkx Monsoon delivered a savageand hilarioustakedown of Harry Potter author J.K. Rowling. The read? Immaculate. The shade? Pulitzer-worthy.When asked if Rowling would make a good Roxie Hart in Chicago, Jinkx played coy, clutching a cocktail and replying with theatrical confusion:Who is Jake? Who is he? Jake Hay Rowling?Ziwe gently corrected her, She.To which Jinkx snapped back without missing a beat:Oh, dear. That is not a feminine name in the slightest. The queen of camp then got real, dragging Rowlings own gender presentation into the spotlight. I know that oftentimes, female authors use initials so that people assume its a male writer, Jinkx said. I have to presume that J.K. Rowling was unsatisfied with the way that the world saw her, and then she transitioned herself into a new personality so that the world would perceive her the way she wanted to be perceived.Cue Ziwe gagging. Literally. While Jinkx served her signature satire, the underlying point was deadly serious: Rowling has spent the past few years actively campaigning against trans rights in the U.K., including celebrating anti-trans legal decisions on social media with cocktails and cigars. Meanwhile, the irony of her writing under both a gender-neutral name (J.K.) and a full male pseudonym (Robert Galbraith) hasnt gone unnoticedespecially by Monsoon. The clip has already lit up queer Twitter, with fans applauding Jinkxs brilliant use of wit to expose Rowlings hypocrisy.Jinkx, who recently wrapped her run as Ruth in Pirates! A Penzance Musical, will return to Broadway August 4 to take over as Mary Todd Lincoln in the hit play Oh, Mary! She also starred in the recent season of Doctor Who.Ziwes full interview with Monsoon will premiere onYouTubeThursday at 5 p.m. PST.Source0 Comentários 0 Compartilhamentos 4 Visualizações 0 Anterior
