GAYETY.COMMeet Jaheem Toombs: The Disney Songwriter Behind ZOMBIES 4 and Queer Love AnthemsJaheem Toombs isnt just a former child actorhes a 23-year-old composer and lyricist whos crafting the next generation of Disney anthems. He wrote Dream Come True, the heartfelt duet performed by Malachi Barton and Freya Skyes Victor and Nova in ZOMBIES 4: Dawn of the Vampires.Dream Come True is the theme of this era of life, Jaheem tells the Pride podcast. That song name is so fitting. The track, which plays during one of the films most emotional moments, has taken on a life of its own online. Fans are praising its throwback feel and calling it a return to the golden age of High School Musical and Camp Rock. I was hoping that it would be nostalgic, Jaheem says. Thats what I had to pull from.To prepare, he went back and studied the greats: I immediately went back and watched all of Troy and Gabriellas duets and watched all of Mitchie and Shane and watched every single Disney couple that I could think of, he says. In my mind I was like, what made it so magical and romantic and wonderful?Rather than emulate, he got personal. I literally sat down and journaled as these characters, he explains. It was really trying to discover and find out who Victor and Nova were. He calls the result on purpose, on accident, on purpose, on accident, on purpose.A Lifelong Love for DCOMsBefore he was writing music for Disney, Jaheem was the kind of kid who would memorize every lyric and force his family to watch his performances in the living room.High School Musical was my genesis, he says. It was my personality. I was really wild and intolerable about it. You couldnt tell me I wasnt Corbin Bleu. Those movies were more than just funthey were a lifeline.I didnt have a lot of friends growing up, so those DCOMs were really, really, really formative and special for me, he shares. I knew that if I didnt fit anywhere else, I was like, I can kick it with the Wildcats. That connection made it all the more surreal when he and his best friend, Matthew Edward Martinez, co-wrote Over Again for High School Musical: The Musical: The Series. The Season 3 ballad was performed by real-life couple Frankie Rodriguez and Joe Serafini, who play Carlos and Seb.They had built such a wonderful love story between Joe and Frankie on that show, Jaheem says. To get to even touch that a little bit was just so exciting.Representation Is the Real DreamWriting queer love songs for Disney isnt just another credit on Jaheems rsumits deeply personal.I know what it wouldve meant to me, he says. It is just so special and wonderful that we get to tell these stories and that I get to be a part of bringing them to life.He praises showrunner Tim Federle for writing such a beautiful love story and Disney for making it accessible for millions of children because Im one of them.High School Musical has always given me the space to see myself, he says. As time goes on and we get even more expansive, its just so beautiful and gorgeous. From Bedroom Pop Star to Viral Disney HitmakerNow, Jaheem is watching kids around the world do exactly what he used to doput on a show. This morning I saw an incredible video of a whole family, he says. The kid comes in the middle of the room, he goes, All right, everybody get ready for the show. And Victor and Nova come out into the living room and perform Dream Come True. They got the cousins involved playing the pillars. The moment hit him hard. That was so me, he says, laughing. It is just so wild to see that happening again a song that was born under my bedroom gets to be the soundtrack to that moment for some other kid.Keeping the Magic AliveJaheem says he hopes to keep working with Disney for the rest of my lifeor as long as Im able.I hope that I can contribute more bops for [kids] to perform for their families at Sunday dinner, he jokes. It was so valuable to me to wake up and rewatch my favorite song and dance musical and feel like I belong somewhere. Its so simple, but its so important. With upcoming projects like Descendants: Wicked Wonderland on the horizon, hes just getting started. Listen to the full conversation below. GAYETY.COMBrittany Snows Mom Hosted a Watch Party for Hunting Wives Even With All The WarningsThe Hunting Wives may be turning heads for its sexy, suspenseful plot but for Brittany Snow, it also prompted an amusing family viewing experience she wont soon forget. The 39-year-old Pitch Perfect alum appeared on a recent episode of Late Night with Seth Meyers, where she opened up about her new Netflix drama, the mixed emotions that came with its release, and how her mom, Cinda, is handling the shows racier moments. Its equal parts very grateful, excited, and completely nauseous, Snow said when asked how she felt about the series hitting the streaming platform. Because now your entire family and the whole world, theres a much higher percentage they were all going to see it? Meyers asked.Yes, Snow replied with a laugh, and a lot more people would see me unclothed.Based on the 2021 novel by May Cobb, The Hunting Wives premiered on Netflix on July 21 and follows Sophie (played by Snow), a woman who moves to Texas and finds herself pulled into an intoxicating and ultimately dangerous friendship with a group of elite women, led by Margo (played by Malin Akerman). As the eight-episode drama unfolds, so does a complicated and passionate relationship between Sophie and Margo. But while Snow might have warned her family about the shows NSFW moments, that didnt stop her mother from tuning in and even organizing a watch party. My mom, she has a group of women that are sort of her friends for life, and theyre called The Playgroup, Snow explained. They all gather around and they watch things that Im in. And so this was a really interesting party for them, with their wine coolers and their cheese boards and just, Oh, we got to fast-forward through that! Nope. Were going to fast-forward. Oh, we have to fast-forward again. So I dont really know if they watched the show necessarily, she joked. The dark, seductive nature of the series has become a major talking point and not just among Snows mom and her friends. The shows steamy scenes, dramatic twists, and bad behavior have made it a trending favorite on social media and among fans of psychological thrillers. In an interview with The New York Post, creator and showrunner Rebecca Cutter said she leaned into the storys over-the-top tone to embrace something fun and juicy.I wanted to do an exploration of women behaving badly, Cutter said. Unapologetic sexual conquest running rampant, and just something fun.Actor Dermot Mulroney, who plays Margos husband Jed, described the series as an anti-rom-com.They dont have any romance, and they dont have any comedy except love affairs and naughty sex, he said, adding that the series is at least a little bit over-the-top.But the show isnt all titillation and taboos. At its core, The Hunting Wives is a story about the secrets that hide behind polished appearances and the intoxicating, sometimes dangerous pull of desire, identity, and belonging. For Snow, portraying Sophie has meant stepping into new creative territory a departure from her previous roles in light-hearted comedies and musicals. Its a lot darker, a lot messier, she said in earlier promotional interviews. But thats what drew me in. It felt real, raw, and kind of scary in the best way.Fans of LGBTQ+ storylines have also praised the nuanced and electric chemistry between Sophie and Margo, which Cutter describes as intentionally blurred. While the show doesnt fit neatly into a queer genre box, it does explore fluidity, obsession, and identity in ways that resonate with diverse audiences. As for whether Snows mom will make it through all eight episodes, fast-forward button or not, the actress remains amused. Shell support me no matter what, Snow said. But maybe Ill pick something a little more G-rated next time. The Hunting Wives is now streaming on Netflix.Source0 التعليقات 0 المشاركات 0 مشاهدة 0 معاينة

GAYETY.COMMiley Cyrus to Celebrate 20 Years of Hannah Montana With Major 2026 EventGet ready to party like its 2006. Miley Cyrus has officially announced plans to celebrate the 20th anniversary of Hannah Montana in 2026, marking two decades since the Disney Channel series launched her into superstardom. The pop icon, now 32, confirmed the upcoming event in a July 22 interview on SiriusXM, teasing that the celebration will include live music, exclusive fan experiences, and plenty of nostalgic surprises.Without Hannah, there really wouldnt be this kind of this me, Cyrus said during the interview. I want to celebrate not just what the show did for my career, but how it connected with millions of people and still means so much to so many.A Cultural Reset, RevisitedPremiering in March 2006, Hannah Montana became an instant hit, centering on teenager Miley Stewart played by Cyrus as she balanced her everyday life with a secret identity as international pop star Hannah Montana. The show ran for four seasons until 2011 and co-starred Emily Osment, Mitchel Musso, Jason Earles, and Billy Ray Cyrus, Mileys real-life father.More than just a teen sitcom, the series was a cultural juggernaut, spawning multi-platinum albums, a top-grossing feature film, a clothing line, and a sold-out arena tour. Songs like The Best of Both Worlds, Nobodys Perfect, and Rock Star became tween anthems and remain iconic to this day.The anniversary event, slated for March 2026, will spotlight that legacy while offering fans a chance to relive the magic possibly with a few new twists. What to Expect in 2026While full details are still under wraps, Cyrus hinted at a mix of nostalgic and modern elements for the event. She mentioned potential live performances, re-recorded versions of fan-favorite songs, exclusive anniversary merchandise, and interactive fan activities like meet-and-greets and Q&As.Its a thank-you party to everyone who grew up with me, she added. I want it to feel like were all in on this big inside joke from our childhood.Online interest exploded following the announcement, with Google searches for Hannah Montana anniversary surging by over 4,900%. Fans are already speculating about a possible cast reunion or tribute concert, with many hoping to hear Cyrus perform the shows biggest hits live.Is Disney Involved? As of now, Disney has not confirmed its participation in the anniversary event. However, the timing conveniently aligns with the highly anticipated spring 2026 launch of the unified Disney+ and Hulu streaming platform, prompting speculation that Hannah Montana may receive a renewed spotlight on the service perhaps through a digital remaster, documentary special, or archival content drop.More Than Just NostalgiaFor Cyrus, revisiting Hannah Montana is more than a trip down memory lane. In multiple interviews over the years, shes described the role as formative not just professionally but personally. While Cyrus has since carved out a bold and unapologetic path in music and pop culture from Bangerz to Endless Summer Vacation Hannah Montana remains a pivotal chapter in her evolution as an artist and public figure. Now, with a new generation discovering the series on streaming, and longtime fans yearning for a hit of Y2K nostalgia, the anniversary celebration promises to bridge past and present in classic Hannah style.Source0 التعليقات 0 المشاركات 0 مشاهدة 0 معاينة

WWW.LGBTQNATION.COMSpectators boo right-wing trolls transphobic speech in Texas SenateTransphobic self-described comedian Alex Stein mocked the elevated risk of suicide amongst the transgender community, calling trans people mentally ill sexual perverts while spewing hateful diatribe during a Texas Senate hearing on a transphobic bathroom bill.I actually like transgenders in the military, Stein said at the Wednesday hearing, because, first of all, transgenders are some of the meanest people on planet Earth, so they make a good soldier, dont you think? And then, you know, second of all, transgenders love to do mass shootings. So you know, thats perfect for a military veteran. And then on top of that, the suicide rate is incredibly high among transgender people, so we could just use them. Like, the Taliban has suicide bombers. Maybe you guys can actually, you know, if you commit suicide, actually help us in the battlefield. So that would be good. Related Creepy anti-LGBTQ activist calls Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez a sexy big booty Latina on Capitol steps I was actually walking over to deck him because if no one will protect us then Ill do it myself but I needed to catch a vote more than a case today, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez said of the confrontation. Stein, the right-wing host of the web show Primetime with Alex Stein, parroted baseless and biased transphobic talking points that have been echoed by numerous right-wing figures like Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA), Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-CO), and former Fox News host Tucker Carlson. The truth is thatthe vast majority of mass shooters in the U.S. are cisgender males, and that the higher level of suicidality among trans people is due to the vilification and mistreatment of trans people. Mental distress among trans people is largely encouraged by transphobic rhetoric like Steins and his fellow right-wingers. Major medical and psychological associations note that trans identity isnt a mental illness. Never Miss a Beat Subscribe to our newsletter to stay ahead of the latest LGBTQ+ political news and insights. Subscribe to our Newsletter today Stein spoke during a hearing forSenate Bill 7, legislation that would require individuals in public schools, prisons, womens shelters, and other government buildings to use facilities matching the sex listed on their birth certificates. Places that break the law would face $5,000 fines for a first offense and $25,000 fines for subsequent violations.Stein voiced his support for the bill, referring to trans women as gargoyles in a dress, sexual perverts, mentally ill, and accusing them of having autogynephilia (male sexual arousal at the thought of being a woman), and of getting satisfaction from going there and looking under a stall. As he spoke, spectators in the gallery began booing in disapproval. He asserted his free speech rights and continued. However, theres no truth to Steins claims. Theres no evidence linking states with trans-friendly bathroom laws to any increases in restroom assaults as a result. Right-wingers like Stein repeatedly claimed thattrans people are dangerousandmentally ill, especially to women and children, to justify violence and discrimination against them. Its unclear if the bill will become law, especially since Democrats in the Texas House have fled the state in order to uphold a Republican gerrymandering effort, thus stalling other bill from passing in the lower chamber as well. He then said that monkey bars at a public park were non-inclusive[and] racist to a child that identifies as a lizard,Newsweekreported. He also said that if transgender former U.S. Assistant Secretary for Health Admiral Rachel Levine is referred to as a woman, people should also refer to his daughter as a lizard. In June 2022,Stein joined a group of transphobic protesterswho harassed parents and performers who attended a family Pride Month drag event in Dallas.During the protest, he yelled, Theyre gonna groom a bunch of children in here! He also told counterprotesters that they were going to hell and told a Black police officer outside the bar, Youre not one of those down-low brothers. Your dad probably dragged you to a lot of gay bars,Salonreported. After the protest, he appeared on conspiracy theorist Alex Jones showInfowars. Read onno big spoilers, we swear.Jamie Lee Curtis returns as the chaotic, lovable heart of Freakier Friday, slipping back into Tess Colemans blazer (and, eventually, a teens Converse) like she never left. Shes absolutely unhinged in the best way, anchoring the sequel with warmth, wit, and that signature Curtis sparkle. She was behind nearly every laugh-out-loud moment from the film, and I would not have it any other way.Lindsay Lohan, meanwhile, is stunning. Not only does she bring rocker teen Anna energy into adulthood with ease, but the film drops just enough nods to her 2000s filmography to make millennials scream. From Mean Girls to Parent Trap, the Easter eggs are a love letter to the Lohanaissance.Meanwhile, Julia Butters is mesmerizing as Harper Colemanshe had me in tears at some of the emotional moments. Seriously, hug your mom tight, folks. Manny Jacinto is the hot new love interest (and does the title justice). Sophia Hammons plays the angsty new stepdaughter, bringing just the right amount of teen energy to the mix.And last but definitely not least: Jake is back. Thats rightChad Michael Murray returns, and my crush on him? Still very much alive. Honestly, bringing him back mightve been the smartest decision they made. His scenes with Curtis are some of the films bestfunny, heartfelt, and just the right amount of awkward nostalgia. How many times can I say nostalgia? How Queer is Freakier Friday?Theres a very prominent Pride flag in one sceneyes, its during a chaotic food fightbut the film itself isnt explicitly queer. That said, its wildly entertaining, full of heart, and clearly made with love for the fans who grew up on the original. The movie cleverly nods to the 2003 versionyes, theres a new fortune, fresh teenage drama, and another swoon-worthy love interestwhile bringing back familiar faces in fun and surprising ways. The generational twist adds a new layer of chaos, but it works because the film never tries to outdo the original. Instead, it celebrates it.Ultimately, Freakier Friday leans into the absurdity, embraces the legacy, and serves up a deliciously weird, feel-good sequel. Catch it in theaters on August 8. GAYETY.COMNew York Opens Aces Place, Nations First City-Funded Shelter for Transgender Homeless PeopleNew York City has made history with the opening of Aces Place, the first city-funded shelter in the United States created specifically for transgender and gender-nonconforming (TGNC) individuals experiencing homelessness.According to Gothamist, the facility is located in Long Island City, Queens, the 150-bed facility is a major step toward addressing housing inequities for the TGNC community, who face disproportionately high rates of homelessness and discrimination in traditional shelter systems. The shelter is operated by Destination Tomorrow, a Bronx-based LGBTQ+ nonprofit led by trans advocate Sean Ebony Coleman.A First of Its KindWhile some cities offer inclusive shelter beds, Aces Place is the first standalone facility of its kind in the country, fully backed by municipal funding. The City of New York has committed $65 million to operate the shelter through 2030.Aces Place is more than just a building. Its a declaration that transgender and nonbinary people belong, said Coleman. Its a community-led response to decades of exclusion, and were proud to provide holistic care that helps our people thrive, not just survive. The name of the shelter pays tribute to Colemans late mother, known affectionately as Ace.What Aces Place OffersDesigned with input from the TGNC community, the shelter offers trauma-informed care and wraparound services meant to promote stability and independence. Residents have access to:On-site psychiatric servicesGED and culinary classesJob readiness training and placementCase managementHousing assistanceSupport groups and life skills workshopsThe shelter also allows residents to live in alignment with their gender identity without fear of misgendering or discrimination, an unfortunately common experience in traditional shelters.Walking into a space where youre affirmed from the start gives you the strength to take on challenges, Coleman said. When youre constantly invalidated, its almost impossible to heal or move forward.A Legal and Moral ImperativeAces Place is the result of a 2021 legal settlement brought by a transgender rights advocate. The agreement required the city to either set aside a minimum number of shelter beds for TGNC people or open a dedicated facility.Department of Social Services Commissioner Molly Wasow Park said the city had already committed to placing people in shelters that align with their gender identity, but this facility offers something deeper: safety, community and belonging. This shelter is a historic and urgent affirmation of our values, Park said. At a time when transgender rights are under nationwide attack, New York is saying: You matter. You are safe here. The Numbers Behind the NeedAccording to The Trevor Project, nearly 40% of transgender youth have faced homelessness or housing instability, rates significantly higher than their cisgender queer peers. A 2022 report from the National Center for Transgender Equality also found that nearly one-third of all trans adults have experienced homelessness at some point in their lives.Department of Homeless Services Administrator Joslyn Carter said the new shelter builds on New York Citys legacy as a leader in LGBTQ+ rights. This is about more than meeting a need. Its about setting a standard, she said.Chanel Lopez, Deputy Director of LGBTQ+ Affairs for the New York State Executive Chamber, echoed the sentiment: This shelter isnt just historic, its lifesaving.Source0 التعليقات 0 المشاركات 0 مشاهدة 0 معاينة

GAYETY.COMChris Appleton Breaks Silence on Lukas Gage Divorce: No RegretsChris Appleton is finally breaking his silence on the end of his whirlwind marriage to White Lotus star Lukas Gage, and hes doing it with grace, insight, and a little wisdom from heartbreak. The celebrity hairstylist, known for working with the likes of Kim Kardashian and Jennifer Lopez, reflected on his divorce during the Aug. 6 episode of Jay Shettys On Purpose podcast. Its the first time hes spoken publicly about the split, nearly two years after filing to end the marriage. You can love someone and there not be a forever happy ending, Appleton told Shetty. And just because its not forever doesnt mean it didnt mean something.A Short-Lived Love StoryAppleton, 42, married Gage, 30, in April 2023 following a brief but highly publicized courtship. The pair tied the knot in a Vegas ceremony officiated by none other than Kim Kardashian. Their relationship raised eyebrows for its speed, but Appleton isnt here for the skepticism.Moving fast doesnt always mean youre being reckless, he said. Sometimes it means youre hopeful. Ive never entered a relationship without an open heart, and I dont regret any of them.He added that while he understands peoples impulse to protect themselves after heartbreak, hed rather love and fall than never feel anything at all. From Heartbreak to HealingThough Appleton didnt share specific details about the reason behind the split, Gage has previously denied any cheating rumors, he did admit to navigating some deep emotional pain. There was a lot of private pain, he said, adding that support from his close circle and therapy helped him navigate the emotional fallout. One of the biggest lessons I learned is finding alignment, he continued. My work is all about the outside, but the real power comes when you feel good on the inside.Prioritizing Family Over HeadlinesAppleton also made it clear that his top priority has always been his children: Billy, 22, and Kitty-blu, 20, whom he shares with his ex Kate Katon. As a dad, I wanted to protect my kids, he said. With any relationship Im in, I know there will be public conversation. Thats why it was so important for me to find that internal alignment, something I hadnt experienced my whole life. While fans may have been eager for drama or a headline-worthy explanation, Appletons focus remains on growth, self-love, and finding peace, even if it came from a painful chapter.Source0 التعليقات 0 المشاركات 0 مشاهدة 0 معاينة
