A South Dakota community has rallied to help a transgender couple buy the towns only bookstore now that the states anti-trans bathroom ban has forced its original owner to move east to protect his 10-year-old daughter.As The Washington Post reports, the people of Vermillion, South Dakota have so far donated over $27,000 via a GoFundMe campaign for Nova and Elias Donstad to make a down payment on Outside of a Dog, a beloved family-owned bookstore. The shops owner, Mike Phelan, opened the store shortly after moving to Vermillion with his family five years ago and discovering that the town did not have a bookstore. He named it after comedian Groucho Marxs quip, Outside of a dog, a book is mans best friend. In the case of Vermillion, the town stood to lose not only beloved community members when the Phelans left, but its only bookstore as well.Thats where the Donstads came in. Sadly, no one warned out singer Lucy Spraggan, who revealed to The Sun that she suffered that exact fate while filming the brutal, hit reality TV show.During filming, Spraggan sustained multiple injuries, including a black eye and a facial injury she incurred while jumping out of a helicopter that caused her facial filler to migrate. She also almost lost a tooth and fainted at one point during filming. But none was as shocking as the injury that led to her needing corrective surgery on her labia.I ripped my labia. It was bad. Thats not a common injury. Actually, genuinely, thats never been the same, so much so Im having some surgery soon to correct it, she told the publication.Spraggan believes that the injury was caused by a tight harness she was wearing during one of the shows famously grueling challenges.I was like: This feels really bad. Yet another LGBTQ-inclusive show is being cut from Disney's roster: Goosebumps. Variety reported exclusively on Friday that the show, based on the popular children's book series by R. L. Stine, was canceled and would not be returning for a third season.Although the show's first two seasons accumulated over 75 million hours watched in the US alone, the company decided to end the show without providing a reason for the cancellation. However, a source allegedly close to the matter told Variety reported that the production company behind the series, Sony Pictures Television, "plans to shop the show to other outlets and explore different creative directions for the IP." (@) The show is yet another blow to queer representation on Disney after the streaming service canceled two shows featuring queer storylines and removed an explicit mention of transness in a different show. In the past two years, Disney canceled two shows featuring queer characters: Willow in 2023 and the Star Wars show, The Acolyte, in 2024. The streaming service also made headlines when it decided to cut a trans storyline from Pixar's first-ever animated series, Win or Lose. The decision came not too soon after the presidential election, and at the time, Disney shared a statement with The Hollywood Reporter that said, "When it comes to animated content for a younger audience, we recognize that many parents would prefer to discuss certain subjects with their children on their own terms and timeline. He was found to have a legitimate claim of persecution based on his sexual orientation, but was later declared by the Trump administration to have tattoos associated with the Tren de Aragua terrorist gang a claim which was later disproven as untrue. He and more than 250 detainees were sent to CECOT in March.After 125 days held in the notorious prison and an immigration judge dismissing his asylum claim in absentia Hernndez Romero was removed from El Salvador to Venezuela in July in a prisoner swap exchanging the 252 detainees held at CECOT for 10 Americans in custody in Venezuela.Hernndez Romero is now at home there, living with his family.The 32-year-old said he was initially led to believe that he was being deported to Venezuela, when in fact he was headed to CECOT.It turns out it was all a lie. They did it on a Saturday when courts were closed, he recounted.It was only after arriving at CECOT that he learned it was one of the most dangerous prisons in the world.What am I doing here? Why am here?' he asked himself.He was told by his companion prisoners that anyone who entered CECOT would never get out and they may even die together.The key to surviving, he said, was holding on to God.Really for us, there was not a day that we didnt pray.ICE officials determination back in the U.S. that Hernndez Romero was a gang member was absurd, he said.The crowns represent that the kings are for me, he said of his tattoos.
