APNEWS.COMThe US says a deal has been reached on TikTok, but details are sparsePresident Donald Trump speaks with reporters before he departs on Air Force One at Morristown Airport, Sunday, Sept. 14, 2025, in Morristown, N.J. (AP Photo/Alex Brandon)2025-09-15T12:34:16Z A framework deal has been reached for the ownership of popular social video platform TikTok, U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said after weekend trade talks between the U.S. and China in Spain.Bessent said in a press conference after the latest round of trade talks between the worlds top two economies concluded in Madrid that U.S. President Donald Trump and Chinese Premier Xi Jinping would speak on Friday to possibly finalize the deal.Bessent said that the objective of the framework deal on the social media platform would be to switch to US ownership. Bessent said that Trump and Xi would speak on Friday to complete the deal.We are not going to talk about the commercial terms of the deal, Bessent said. Its between two private parties. But the commercial terms have been agreed upon.Chinese officials have yet to confirm Bessents statement and were not present at the press conference. The meeting in Madrid is the fourth round of trade talks between United States and Chinese officials since Trump launched a tariff war on Chinese goods in April. Now, the two governments are planning for a possible summit between Trump and Xi, though nothing has been confirmed. Analysts say there are possible trade bumps that could delay the visit. During Joe Bidens Democratic presidency, Congress and the White House used national security grounds to approve a U.S. ban on TikTok unless its parent company, ByteDance, sold its controlling stake. Stay up to date with similar stories by signing up to our WhatsApp channel. Trump has repeatedly extended the deadline for shutting down TikTok, even though the law allows for just one 90-day reprieve, and only if theres a deal on the table and a formal notification to Congress. TikTok is one of more than 100 apps developed in the past decade by ByteDance, a technology firm founded in 2012 by Chinese entrepreneur Zhang Yiming and headquartered in Beijings northwestern Haidian district. In 2016, ByteDance launched a short-form video platform called Douyin in China and followed up with an international version called TikTok. It then bought Musical.ly, a lip-syncing platform popular with teens in the U.S. and Europe, and combined it with TikTok while keeping the app separate from Douyin.Soon after, the app boomed in popularity in the U.S. and many other countries, becoming the first Chinese platform to make serious inroads in the West. Unlike other social media platforms that focused on cultivating connections among users, TikTok tailored content to peoples interests. The often silly videos and music clips content creators posted gave TikTok an image as a sunny corner of the internet where users could find fun and a sense of authenticity. Finding an audience on the platform helped launch the careers of music artists like Lil Nas X.TikTok gained more traction during the shutdowns of the COVID-19 pandemic, when short dances that went viral became a mainstay of the app. To better compete, Instagram and YouTube eventually came out with their own tools for making short-form videos, respectively known as Reels and Shorts. By that point, TikTok was a bona fide hit. Challenges came in tandem with TikToks success. U.S. officials expressed concerns about the companys roots and ownership, pointing to laws in China that require Chinese companies to hand over data requested by the government. Another concern became the proprietary algorithm that populates what users see on the app.AP reporter Mark Sherman contributed to this story. APNEWS.COMQatar hosts summit in response to Israeli strike on Hamas in Doha, seeking to restrain such attacksDamage is seen after an Israeli strike targeted a compound that hosted Hamas' political leadership in Doha, Qatar, Wednesday, Sept. 10, 2025. (AP Photo/Jon Gambrell)2025-09-15T07:40:26Z DUBAI, United Arab Emirates (AP) Qatar hosted a summit of leaders of Arab and Islamic nations Monday in the hopes of presenting a united response to Israels attack on Hamas leaders in Doha last week. But the group has few ways to restrain Israel as its war in the Gaza Strip grinds on.Israel launched its invasion of Gaza in response to Hamas Oct. 7, 2023, attack, and since then it has also retaliated against the militant group and other members of Irans so-called Axis of Resistance elsewhere, including in Iran, Lebanon, Syria, Yemen and now Qatar. Thats led to wider anger among Mideast nations already enraged by the over 64,000 Palestinians killed during the war in Gaza and a growing concern that the U.S. commitment to protect Gulf Arab states may not be strong enough. However, it remains unclear just what the summit will be able to achieve. Significant tensions among the nations meeting could blunt cooperation and they also have few levers they can pull. Condemnations from countries that Israel considers enemies, like Iran, will mean little. Meanwhile, the nations attending that have diplomatic recognition deals with Israel may be reluctant to sever ties. Considering the deep tensions between the Gulf states and other regional actors, assembling the summit in less than a week, especially given its scale, is a notable achievement that underscores a shared sense of urgency in the region, the New York-based Soufan Center said. The key question is whether ... (the summit will) signal a shift toward more consequential measures against Israel, including diplomatic downgrades, targeted economic actions and restrictions on airspace and access. Qatars ruler offers fiery speechQatars ruling emir opened the summit by accusing Israel of not caring about its hostages held in Gaza and instead only working to ensure Gaza is no longer livable. Israel has said the goals of its war include bringing all the hostages back and defeating Hamas. If Israel wishes to assassinate the Hamas leaders, why then engage in negotiations? Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani asked. If you wish to insist on the liberation of hostages, why then do they assassinate all negotiators? The speech was unusually fiery for the 45-year-old ruler of Qatar, which has served as key mediator in an effort to reach a ceasefire in the war. There is no room to deal with such a party thats cowardly and treacherous, he added. Those who work consistently to assassinate the party in these negotiations will certainly do everything to ensure the failure of these negotiations. When they claim that they seek the liberation of hostages, thats a mere lie.Sheikh Tamim also denounced Israel over what he called the genocide it is committing in Gaza. Israel vehemently denies it is committing genocide. It says Hamas is prolonging the war by not surrendering and releasing the hostages.A variety of regional leaders attended the summit, including Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah el-Sissi and Syrias interim president, Ahmad al-Sharaa. Iran, which hit a base in Qatar in June, is attending the summitAfter the U.S. bombed Iranian nuclear sites in June, Iran struck Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar, a major hub for American forces a move that angered Qatar. Nevertheless, Iran sent President Masoud Pezeshkian to attend Mondays meeting. Before leaving Tehran, Pezeshkian noted the wide breadth of nations Israel has attacked since Oct. 7.This regime has attacked many Islamic countries, he said. It does whatever it wants, and unfortunately, the United States and European countries also support these actions.Writing on the social platform X, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi added: Iran stands with Qatar and indeed all Muslim brothers and sisters, particularly against the scourge that is terrorizing the region. Araghchi and Pezeshkian did not mention Irans attack on Qatar and received an honor guard welcome when landing in Doha. Qatar has been key in Israel-Hamas ceasefire talksQatar, an energy-rich nation on the Arabian Peninsula that hosted the 2022 World Cup, long has served as an intermediary in conflicts. For years, it has hosted Hamas political leadership at the request of the U.S., providing a channel for Israel to negotiate with the militant group that has controlled Gaza for years. But as the Israel-Hamas war has raged on, Qatar increasingly has been criticized by hard-liners within Netanyahus government. Netanyahu himself has vowed to strike all those who organized the Hamas-led attack on Israel in 2023. And since last weeks strike, the Israeli leader has doubled down on saying Qatar remains a possible target if Hamas leaders are there. On Sunday, U.S. President Donald Trump offered renewed support for Qatar. Were with them. You know, theyve been a great ally, Trump said. A lot of people dont understand about Qatar. Qatar has been a great ally, and they also lead a very difficult life because theyre right in the middle of everything. U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio was in Israel on Monday for meetings with Netanyahu and other Israeli officials to express Americas concern over the attack on Qatar and talk about Israels planned new offensive on Gaza City. Rubio declined to address Israels strike while speaking to journalists in Jerusalem, but said that America wanted to work with all its partners in the region on stopping Hamas and reaching a ceasefire in the war. Were going to continue to encourage Qatar to play a constructive role in that regard, Rubio said. Netanyahu again added that Israels decision to attack Qatar was a wholly independent decision by us. Netanyahu faces increasing pressure from the Israeli public to end the war and bring home the 48 hostages still held in Gaza, whom 20 are believed by Israel to still be alive. The war began when Hamas-led militants stormed into southern Israel on Oct. 7, 2023, killing around 1,200 people, mostly civilians, and abducting 251.Israels ensuing offensives in Gaza has killed more than 64,000 Palestinians, according to Gazas Health Ministry, which does not say how many were civilians or combatants. It says around half of those killed were women and children. The ministry is part of the Hamas-run government and staffed by medical professionals. The U.N. and independent experts view its figures as the most reliable estimate of war casualties. Israel disputes them but has not provided its own.___This story has been corrected to remove an extra is in the quote from Qatars ruling emir. (AP Photo/Joanna Chan)2025-09-15T09:52:31Z LONDON (AP) Prime Minister Keir Starmer on Monday condemned dangerous comments by Elon Musk after the X and Tesla owner told an anti-immigration rally that violence is coming to Britain and they must fight or die. But the U.K. government resisted opposition calls to sanction Musk for the remarks.Starmer denounced violence on the fringes of Saturdays 100,000 or more-strong Unite the Kingdom demonstration in London organized by far-right campaigner Tommy Robinson. Police said 26 officers were injured, four seriously, as a minority among the protesters tried to breach lines separating them from a smaller anti-racist counter-demonstration. There were 25 people arrested at the event and the Metropolitan Police said more arrests would follow. Addressing the demonstration by video link, Musk called for the dissolution of Parliament and an early election to remove Starmers center-left government. He told protesters violence is coming to you and you either fight back or you die. Calls to sanction MuskEd Davey, leader of the Liberal Democrats, the third-largest party in Britains Parliament, urged Starmer, Conservative opposition leader Kemi Badenoch and Reform UK leader Nigel Farage to join him in condemning Musks attempt to sow discord and incite violence on our streets and interfere with British democracy. Davey urged Starmer to block Tesla from getting government contracts.Starmers spokesman said the government had no plans to sanction Musk over his comments. The prime minister wrote on X that peaceful protest is core to our countrys values. But we will not stand for assaults on police officers doing their job or for people feeling intimidated on our streets because of their background or the color of their skin. This is not the first time Musk, an erstwhile ally of President Donald Trump, has supported hard-right and far-right figures in Europe, including Robinson, a convicted fraudster and founder of the anti-Islam English Defense League whose real name is Stephen Yaxley-Lennon, and the Alternative for Germany party, or AfD.Musk also is a critic of attempts by the U.K. and other European governments to clamp down on harmful online content, something he argues restricts free speech.Saturdays march was billed as a demonstration in support of free speech, with many of the speeches by influencers and far-right politicians from across Europe aimed largely at the supposed perils of migration. It followed growing political concern about unauthorized immigration, especially the arrival of migrants across the English Channel in small boats. More than 30,000 people have made the dangerous crossing from France so far this year despite efforts by authorities in Britain, France and other countries to crack down on the people-smuggling gangs behind the trips. In recent weeks, the flags have proliferated on lampposts, motorway bridges and road intersections around the country as part of a seemingly grassroots campaign. Red crosses have also been painted on buildings in what some see as an intimidating gesture aimed at ethnic minorities. The St. George flag, in particular, is a complex symbol. It can express patriotism and pride when supporting Englands sports teams, but has at times been appropriated by anti-immigration protesters and the hard right. The flag featured heavily at anti-asylum protests this summer, which were attended and in some cases organized by far-right activists. Flags can unite and divide as they are flown by people with different motives and meanings, said Sunder Katwala of British Future, a think tank that looks at issues including integration and national identity.James Freeman, a senior lecturer in political history at the University of Bristol, said the use of flags to intimidate or demark certain areas as being out of bounds was a historical phenomenon, though the link between the St. George flag and the hard right is relatively recent.Starmer, who has expressed support for flying flags as symbols of national pride, wrote on X that Britain is a nation proudly built on tolerance, diversity and respect. Our flag represents our diverse country and we will never surrender it to those that use it as a symbol of violence, fear and division. WWW.LGBTQNATION.COMUtah gov. says Kirk suspects trans partner knew nothing of murder plans & is fully cooperatingUtah Gov. Spencer Cox (R) has told multiple news outlets that the man in custody for allegedly killing anti-LGBTQ+ activist Charlie Kirk was in a romantic relationship with his transgender roommate. In an interview with ABC News, Cox described the roommate as a boyfriend who is transitioning from male to female and used he/him pronouns. But Coxs description presumably means they would actually identify as a transgender woman, not a boyfriend. Related The right laughs at trans peoples deaths but demands people be sad over Charlie Kirk He said they have not confirmed a motive but that they are exploring whether this relationship played a role in 22-year-old suspect Tyler Robinsons hatred of Kirk, who regularly spouted vile insults about trans people, including calling them an abomination and saying trans identities are against the natural law. Cox said the trans roommate, who has not been named, has been incredibly cooperative with law enforcement. Insights for the LGBTQ+ community Subscribe to our briefing for insights into how politics impacts the LGBTQ+ community and more. Subscribe to our Newsletter today Had no idea this was happening and is working with investigators right now, he added. He said Robinson, has not been cooperating so far, and as such, law enforcement has obtained all of its information on him from family and acquaintances. That includes Coxs earlier claim to the Wall Street Journal that Robinson was deeply indoctrinated with leftist ideology. That information comes from the people around him his family and friends, he explained during an appearance on NBCs Meet the Press. Robinsons parents are both registered Republicans, but he is not registered with a specific party. Cox said family members report he became more political over the past few years and did not share the opinions of his loved ones. CNN anchor Dana Bash took Cox to task over his calls for unity and to lower the temperature, as Bash put it, while also talking about the alleged leftist radicalization of Robinson. Cox who vetoed an anti-trans sports bill in 2022 because he wanted to err on the side of kindness, mercy, and compassion claimed he does not have a dog in this fight and that if loved ones had said Robinson was a MAGA radical, hed be sharing that, too. Cox said the charging documents will be filed on Tuesday, when much more information will come to light. The governor also recently called social media a cancer on our society and said its important to understand the role the dark web plays in turning a seemingly well-adjusted and smart young man into a killer.Despite Coxs repeated claims that the trans partner did not have any knowledge of Robinsons alleged plans to kill Kirk and was shocked when they found out about it, the revelation that a trans person was involved in the alleged killers life at all will no doubt be used as fuel by right-wing actors who have been desperately seeking any excuse to blame Kirks murder on trans people and liberals in general. In contrast to many on the right who are calling to avenge Kirks death, Coxs message has largely been one of unity, imploring Americans to engage in peaceful debate rather than continue to perpetuate a vicious cycle of political violence.Every one of us has to make a decision, he told ABC News. Are we going to hate our neighbor? Are we going to hate the other side? Are we going to return violence with violence, or are we going to find a different path? While Cox acknowledged on CNN that Kirk said some very inflammatory things, he also praised the white nationalist for preaching forgiveness and reading scripture. But in addition to regularly making bigoted statements against marginalized groups, Kirk and his right-wing-funded organization for young conservatives, Turning Point USA, launched aProfessor Watchlist, which inspired death threats and public campaigns to fire radical college educators who discriminate against conservative students and advance leftist propaganda in the classroom.Kirk also said some gun deaths are worth it for Americans to maintain the right to bear arms and that he cant stand the word empathy. Spencer Cox: "Charlie said some very inflammatory things, and in some corners of the web that's all that people have heard" pic.twitter.com/GVe9xN625O Aaron Rupar (@atrupar) September 14, 2025 Cox also appeared to try to absolve Donald Trumps inflammatory rhetoric from contributing to the countrys current issues, claiming individuals cant base their decisions on how to feel and act on what a president or governor says and that everyone must decide for themselves if they are going help make things better or worse. During his appearance on ABC, Cox gave a roundabout answer when asked about Trumps silence on the assassinations of Minnesota House Speaker Melissa Hortman (D)and her husband and his claims that most of the countrys violence is due to the radical left.President Trump is very angry, Cox said, and Charlie is his close personal friend. There is a lot of anger on the right, on my side of the aisle, and in this case, it does appear that thats true. More information is coming I dont know that that matters as much as the radicalization piece. He said, This person made a choice, and it was this persons choice, but that more must be done to figure out how people become radicalized in the first place and stop it from happening. In contrast, out former Secretary of Transportation, Pete Buttigieg, recently slammed Trumps villainization of liberals in the wake of Kirks death. Were not getting the leadership that we need to bring this country together from the White House and in order to turn the tide of political violence, Buttigieg said. Yes, we have to reject those who commit political violence; yes, we have to reject those who celebrate or promote political violence; but also, in order to deprive political violence of its power, we have to reject anyone who would try to exploit political violence. The response to this cannot be for the government to crack down on individuals or groups because of violence, but because they challenge the government politically.Subscribe to theLGBTQ Nation newsletterand be the first to know about the latest headlines shaping LGBTQ+ communities worldwide.0 Comments 0 Shares 0 Views 0 Reviews

WWW.PRIDE.COMLesbians lost it over this flirty Emmys moment between Malin Akerman & Brittany SnowThe Hunting Wives fans were treated to a delightful surprise during the Emmy Awards when Malin Akerman and Brittany Snow showed up on stage to present an award and got into character while doing so.The two stepped in for Sofia Vergara to announce the nominees for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie on Sunday night. But the category and the award itself are completely irrelevant compared to the blush-worthy interaction they had on stage beforehand.A now-viral clip shows Snow apologizing for being "slow to come out," to which Akerman cheekily replies, "Oh, I don't mind waiting for you to come out." (@) It's honestly hard to pick which micro-moment was the best part the obvious set up where you know what's coming, the way Akerman delivered her comment, or Snow's reaction as the audience laughs and cheers.Either way, we'll take all of it. If they gave Emmys for the best moments of the Emmys, this 10 second clip would definitely be a contender! And although that was undeniably the scene stealing moment of the night for The Hunting Wives fans, it wasn't the only tasty morsel we were given. The two posed for tons of pics, did some press together, and even held hands at least once: (@) Overall, it was a really good night to be a fan of The Hunting Wives, Brittany Snow, Malin Akerman, and/or just lesbianism (even fictional) in general. GAYETY.COMDemi Lovato Announces Ninth Album Its Not That Deep, Embracing a New Dance-Pop EraDemi Lovato has officially announced their ninth studio album, titled Its Not That Deep, set for release Oct. 24 via DLG Recordings / Island Records. With a shift toward a lighter, dancepop sound, the new record marks a departure from the intense, cathartic songwriting that has defined much of their past work.Lovato has already dropped two singles ahead of the full album: Fast and Here All Night. The album will feature 11 tracks and is executive produced by Zhone, who has worked with Charli XCX and Kylie Minogue. The artist said this new body of work reflects where they are in life: happy, in love, and more interested in celebrating rather than processing pain.A Shift From Catharsis to CelebrationLovatos previous album, Holy Fvck (2022), moved in a rockinspired direction, driven by raw emotion and vulnerability. That era resonated deeply with fans and critics alike. But for Its Not That Deep, the tone is intentionally different. Rather than focusing on healing, the music is positioned as a soundtrack for joy and freedom.Fast and Here All Night are the two singles released so far, offering a preview of this new sound. Early feedback from fans suggests the tracks strike a balance between pop and dance energy, setting the tone for the rest of the record.Critics and Lovatos devoted fanbase, Lovatics, are watching to see how the remainder of the tracks build on this momentum.Executive producer Zhone hascredits include influential names in the pop and dance music spheres. With 11 songs total, expect Its Not That Deep to be focused in on the theme.Lovato said the collaboration with Zhone allowed them to experiment freely without the burden of expectation. The albums spacing, style, and tone were guided by a sense of having moved past what they needed to heal from.Outside of music, Lovato has remained active creatively. In recent months, the singer appeared in the film Tow, sharing the screen with Rose Byrne, Octavia Spencer, and Simon Rex. The film debuted at the Tribeca Film Festival in June.In addition, Lovato is preparing a cookbook titled One Plate at a Time: Recipes for Finding Freedom With Food, scheduled for release March 31, 2026. APNEWS.COMVance hosts Kirks radio show and says hell honor his friend by being a better husband and fatherVice President JD Vance hosts an episode of "The Charlie Kirk Show" at the White House, following the assassination of the show's namesake, Monday, Sept., 15, 2025, in Washington. (Doug Mills/The New York Times via AP, Pool)2025-09-15T17:41:44Z WASHINGTON (AP) Vice President JD Vance on Monday hosted the radio program of Charlie Kirk, the influential conservative activist who was assassinated last week, telling listeners that the best way he knows how to honor his friend is to be a better husband and father. Vance hosted The Charlie Kirk Show from his ceremonial office in the Eisenhower Executive Office Building next to the White House. The livestream of the two-hour program was broadcast in the White House press briefing room and featured a series of appearances by White House and administration officials who knew the 31-year-old Kirk.Vance, who transported Kirks body home to Arizona aboard Air Force Two last week, opened by saying he was filling in for somebody who cannot be filled in for, but Ill do my best. The Republican vice president, 41, was especially close to Kirk, founder of Turning Point USA, one of the nations largest political organizations with chapters on high school and college campuses. The two began a friendship nearly a decade ago, and Kirk advocated for Vance to be Republican Donald Trumps choice for vice president last year. Vance spoke Monday about sitting with Kirks widow, Erika Kirk, and being at a loss for words. But he said she told him something hell never forget, which was that her husband had never raised his voice to her and was never cross or mean-spirited to her. Vance allowed that he could not say the same about himself. I took from that moment that I needed to be a better husband and I needed to be a better father, the vice president said on the program, which was streamed on Rumble. That is the way Im going to honor my friend. After Kirk was fatally shot last Wednesday at Utah Valley University, Vance tore up his schedule for the next day he was scheduled Thursday to attend the 24th annual observance in New York of the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks to fly instead to Orem, Utah, with his wife, second lady Usha Vance. The two accompanied Erika Kirk and Charlie Kirks casket to Arizona aboard Air Force Two. APNEWS.COMLittle daylight between US and Israel evident as Rubio and Netanyahu meetIsraeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio hold a joint press conference at the Prime Minister's Office, during Rubio's visit, in Jerusalem, Monday, Sept. 15, 2025. (Nathan Howard/Pool Photo via AP)2025-09-15T12:10:50Z JERUSALEM (AP) Israel and the United States showed a unified front on Monday in the face of growing international anger over Israels airstrikes on Hamas leaders on Qatar and its intensifying bombardment of Gaza City.As Arab and Muslim leaders met in Doha to condemn Israels attack last week in Qatar and new rounds of criticism were aired over Israeli plans to occupy Gaza City, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio stood shoulder-to-shoulder in Jerusalem and downplayed the furor that had, at least for a short time, taken the Trump administration aback.Rubio plans to pay a quick visit to Qatar on Tuesday, as the administration appears keen to ease tensions between its two close allies, before flying on to London to join President Donald Trump on his state visit to Britain. There were no signs of U.S. frustration or annoyance with Israels latest moves, although Trump had made clear his displeasure with Israels unilateral strike on Hamas in Qatar, which is a close U.S. partner. And, both Netanyahu and Rubio said they agreed that the only way to end the conflict in Gaza is through the elimination of Hamas and the release of all hostages, setting aside calls for an interim ceasefire in favor of an immediate end to the conflict. Rubio had come to Israel seeking answers from Netanyahu about how Israel intended to proceed in Gaza and assess its interest in Qatar retaining a mediating role. The two said after their talks that the only way to peace is the complete destruction of Hamas and the return of all 48 hostages, around 20 of them believed to be alive. As long as Hamas is around, there will be no peace in this region because they are not agents of peace. They are agents of barbarism, Rubio said.Your presence here in Israel today is a clear message that America stands with Israel. You stand with us in the face of terror, said Netanyahu. Fallout from Doha attack Israel continued its attacks on Gaza City, which it aims to take over, ordering the evacuation of another high-rise building, one of the citys tallest. In recent days, Israel has destroyed multiple high-rises, accusing Hamas of putting surveillance equipment in them, without providing evidence.Airstrikes overnight and into Monday killed at least 14 people, including children, said health officials at Shifa Hospital, where the bodies were brought. Rubios visit proceeded despite Trumps anger at Netanyahu over the Israeli strike in Doha, which he said the United States wasnt notified of beforehand. The Doha attack, which killed at least five lower-ranking Hamas members and a member of the Qatari security forces, appears to have paused mediation efforts aimed at a ceasefire and the release of hostages. When asked by a reporter about how the U.S. will handle Israels attack in Doha, Rubio didnt directly answer, saying the U.S. was focused on what happens next and that it will continue to encourage Qatar to play a role in the talks.Rubio downplayed U.S. concerns about Israels latest operations in Gaza City, repeating several times that Trump is determined to see the conflict come to an end and that requires the destruction of Hamas. Netanyahu gave no indication that Israel would let up on its offensive. US and Israel reject calls for Palestinian state One of Rubios reasons for visiting was to show support for Israel as it expects to face growing international condemnation of the war at the upcoming United Nations General Assembly session. A number of European countries and Canada have said they intend to recognize a Palestinian state over fervent U.S. and Israeli objections. Some Israeli politicians have hinted that Israel may respond to such moves by annexing part of the West Bank. Rubio said statehood recognition is counterproductive to creating a state through negotiations and suggested that such proclamations are self-serving.The only impact they actually have is it makes Hamas feel more emboldened, he said. Its actually served as an impediment to peace.Israel and the Palestinians have not held serious or substantive peace talks since Netanyahu returned to office in 2009. Netanyahu, who strongly opposes Palestinian statehood, was coy when asked how Israel would respond to moves toward recognition. It is clear that if unilateral actions are taken against us, it simply invites unilateral actions on our part, he said. Israel presses ahead with offensive in Gaza CityOne of the overnight strikes hit a tent housing a family in western Gaza City, killing seven people, said hospital staff. Another strike hit a tent on the roof of a building, killing a local journalist, Mohammed al-Kuifi, and another individual, according to Shifa. It was another night of horror. ... The situation is tragic and getting worse day by day, said Mohammed Saber, a resident in Gaza City.Israel says it only targets militants and blames civilian deaths on Hamas because it is entrenched in populated areas.Israel has been urging Palestinians in Gaza City to head south. But there is little space for people to shelter in Muwasi, a sprawling, crowded tent camp that Israel has designated as a humanitarian zone and where it has regularly carried out strikes on what it says are militant targets. On Monday, images showed a steady stream of Palestinians walking and driving along the narrow road by the sea that Israel designated a safe corridor. The war in Gaza began when Hamas-led militants stormed into southern Israel on Oct. 7, 2023, killing around 1,200 people, mostly civilians, and abducting 251. Most of the hostages have since been released in ceasefires brokered in part by Qatar or other deals. Israels retaliatory offensive has killed at least 64,871 Palestinians, according to Gazas Health Ministry, which doesnt say how many were civilians or combatants. The ministry, which is part of the Hamas-run government and staffed by medical professionals, says women and children make up around half the dead.___Magdy reported from Cairo. APNEWS.COMNvidia violated antimonopoly laws, China saysVisitors give commands to a robot at Nvidia's booth during the 3rd China International Supply Chain Expo at the China International Exhibition Center, in Beijing, July 18, 2025. (AP Photo/Mahesh Kumar A., File)2025-09-15T10:08:14Z LONDON (AP) China accused Nvidia on Monday of violating the countrys antimonopoly laws and said it would step up scrutiny of the worlds leading chipmaker, escalating tensions with Washington as the two countries held trade talks this week.Chinese regulators said a preliminary investigation found that Nvidia didnt comply with conditions imposed when it purchased Mellanox Technologies, a network and data transmission company. The one-sentence statement from the State Administration for Market Regulation statement did not mention any punishment, but said it would carry out further investigation. An Nvidia spokesperson said, We comply with the law in all respects. We will continue to cooperate with all relevant government agencies as they evaluate the impact of export controls on competition in the commercial markets.Regulators said in December that they were investigating the company for suspected violations stemming from the $6.9 billion acquisition of Mellanox. The deal was completed in 2020 after the Chinese regulator gave conditional approval for Nvidia to buy the Israeli company. The announcement, which came as the two sides held trade talks in Spain, is the latest tit-for-tat move between Washington and Beijing in their trade battle over technology focusing on semiconductors and the equipment to make them. On Saturday, Chinas Ministry of Commerce said it was carrying out an antidumping investigation into certain analog IC chips imported from the U.S., including commodity chips commonly made by companies such as Texas Instruments and ON Semiconductor. Stay up to date with similar stories by signing up to our WhatsApp channel. The ministry also announced a separate antidiscrimination probe into U.S. measures against Chinas chip sector. A day earlier, the U.S. had sanctioned two Chinese companies accused of acquiring equipment for major Chinese chipmaker SMIC. The talks in Madrid between U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent and Chinese Vice Premier He Lifeng in Madrid concluded Monday with Bessent telling reporters the two sides reached a framework deal for U.S. ownership of TikTok. However, details were scant and Chinese negotiators provided no confirmation of a deal. Its the fourth round of discussions after meetings in London, Geneva and Stockholm. The two governments have agreed to several 90-day pauses on a series of increasing reciprocal tariffs, staving off an all-out trade war.Santa Clara, Calif.-based Nvidia has become central to the U.S.-China trade war, as the two sides battle for tech supremacy. The artificial intelligence boom has fueled demand for the Nvidias advanced processors, making it the worlds most valuable company. The company has faced restrictions on chip exports to China imposed by President Joe Bidens administration that were then reinforced by President Donald Trump. Nvidia won approval in July from the Trump administration to sell China its H20 graphics processing unit, which is less powerful and designed to comply with U.S. export curbs. Subscribe to our Newsletter today Democrats were attacked repeatedly during the debate over the must-pass 2026 National Defense Reauthorization Act for raising objections to six last-minute discriminatory amendments aimed at the LGBTQ+ community, and then saw each pass on a voice vote, many with support from some of their Democratic colleagues.Ultimately, 17 Democrats joined Republicans voting for the amended legislation. The six amendments included two bans on medically necessary gender-affirming healthcare for trans service members and their dependents already slated for forced removal from the U.S. military including mental health care; a ban on trans women participating in sports at U.S. service academies; a ban on the Department of Defense collecting gender identity data, requiring all surveys to only ask about sex assigned at birth; a ban on trans people using the facilities assocaited with their gender on military installations; and a ban Pride flag displays of any kind at U.S. military facilities. Four of the six anti-LGBTQ+ amendments were introduced by Rep. Nancy Mace (R-SC).Rep. Maxine Dexter (D-OR) stood to object to the Pride flag amendment, which overturned a previous compromise in the traditionally bipartisan NDAA that granted facility commanders discretion in allowing or denying Pride flag displays, calling it cruel and callous. She planted a small Pride flag on the rostrum where she spoke.Seconds into her speech, a member of Floridas Congressional delegation rose to object to Dexters flag display. That flag violates our House rules, he said, egged on by Rep. WWW.PRIDE.COMCooper Koch lounges shirtless by the pool & gays are making wavesCooper Koch has officially reached the point in fame where even a cigarette by the pool becomes a discourse.Over the weekend, photos of the Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story star lounging shirtless poolside hit social media and fans instantly flooded the replies with thirst. (@) Wrapped in a striped towel in one shot and bright yellow trunks in another, Koch didnt need anything more than abs and sunlight to set timelines ablaze. (@) Gross and I thought he was hot looking, one disappointed fan wrote. (@) Another added, The cigarette is so gross. A third said the discovery made him far less attractive, even while conceding Koch was still handsome and hot. (@) Stepping onto the carpet in a sleek Calvin Klein tux, the Monsters actor drew nothing but praise. (@) Some names arrive quietly, but leave loudly. GAYETY.COMAlan Cumming Invites Donald Trump To Compete on The Traitors: Our President Would Be Very Good on The ShowAlan Cumming knows a good traitor when he sees one, or at least a good contestant for The Traitors, the Emmy-winning reality series he hosts. And this time, his casting suggestion is turning heads President Donald Trump.Backstage at the 77th Primetime Emmy Awards on Sunday night, following The Traitors win for Outstanding Reality Competition Series, Cumming offered up a name that no one saw coming when asked who he would like to see on a future season.Im sure our president would be very good on the show, Cumming quipped to reporters in the press room. Having a lot of chaos and sort of turmoil and treachery, so maybe hed like to come on and be paid for thatprobably better than he gets as president. The Scottish actor and LGBTQ+ icon delivered the tongue-in-cheek remark with his signature wit, clearly amused by the idea of the polarizing political figure navigating the high-stakes, drama-filled world of The Traitors. The NBC reality competition has quickly become a pop culture juggernaut since its premiere, known for its campy flair, dramatic gameplay, and mind games steeped in deception. For the uninitiated, The Traitors places celebrities and civilians alike inside a lavish Scottish castle, where they must work together to complete missions and build a cash prize. But lurking among them are several traitors, whose job is to secretly sabotage the group while avoiding detection. Its part murder mystery, part psychological experiment, and 100% drama, making it a perfect fit for Cummings flamboyant style and the larger-than-life personalities the show attracts. While Donald Trump is highly unlikely to take a break from his second term in the White House to participate in a reality competition series, his history with the genre is well-documented. Before entering politics, he hosted and executive produced The Apprentice on NBC from 2004 to 2015, helping usher in the modern era of reality TV celebrity. The idea of Trump returning to television in a new role as a traitor in a castle full of reality stars may be pure fantasy, but in Cummings world, its not entirely off the table.Cummings Emmy MomentEarlier in the evening, Cumming took the stage to accept the Emmy on behalf of the The Traitors production team. Clad in a custom kilt and tuxedo combo that matched the shows regal-yet-mischievous aesthetic, he thanked the cast, crew, and fans for embracing the shows unique tone. Its a difficult time we live in, Cumming said, but its so great that our show brings a little bit of joy into this life. The shows success is undeniable. Since its debut, The Traitors has stood out from the reality competition pack by leaning into theatricality and psychological suspense, often more Knives Out than Survivor. And at the center of it all is Cumming, who doesnt just host but fully embodies the games dramatic narrative, adding a layer of camp sensibility to primetime network TV.Source0 Comments 0 Shares 0 Views 0 Reviews

WWW.LGBTQNATION.COMLawmakers use Marco Rubios own words against him in demand he release LGBTQ+ human rights dataThe Congressional Equality Caucus is urging the State Department (DOS) to restore data on LGBTQ+ and intersex people to its human rights report. In August, DOS released a heavily edited version of its 2024 annual report on human rights around the world. The report did not include any mention of LGBTQ+ rights violations and other abuses. Related Nancy Mace bizarrely claims she never dehumanized my colleagues in plea for civility AsNPRnoted, this years congressionally mandated report, which was initially prepared under the Biden administration, was delayed for months so that the State Department could remove references to categories of human rights violations not explicitly required by statute.Critics blasted the edits to the report, which is used by advocacy organizations, lawyers, and others to assess political developments in foreign countries, need-based aid programs, as well as asylum claims from refugees fleeing persecution in their home countries. Insights for the LGBTQ+ community Subscribe to our briefing for insights into how politics impacts the LGBTQ+ community and more. Subscribe to our Newsletter today Now, a letter spearheaded by the co-chairs of the Equality Caucuss International LGBTQI+ Rights Task Force Rep. Sarah McBride (D-DE), Rep. Robert Garcia (D-CA), and Rep. Julie Johnson (D-TX) slams Secretary of State Marco Rubio for the erasure. We strongly oppose your decision to remove the subsection on Acts of Violence, Criminalization, and Other Abuses Based on Sexual Orientation, Gender Identity or Expression, or Sex Characteristics (SOGIESC Subsection) from the State Departments Annual Country Reports on Human Rights Practices, opens the letter, which is signed by 61 members of Congress. The authors added they are deeply concerned about the broader rollback of the section on Discrimination and Societal Abuses, which has existed for many years, and also that they regret the State Departments considerable delay in delivering these reports to Congress and the unprecedented lack of public and press engagement in the reports release. The letter urges Rubio to either restore the eliminated section on LGBTQ+ rights or ensure it is integrated throughout each Human Rights Report. For a decade and a half, the Human Rights Reportsand specifically the SOGIESC subsection of eachhave been a critical source of information on human rights violations and abusesagainst LGBTQI+ persons around the world, it continues, emphasizing that this was also true during the presidents first administration. The Equality Caucus members emphasized that anti-LGBTQ+ violence and criminalization remains widespread and, as a result, providing the information is critical not just for human rights advocates but also for Americans traveling abroad. The lawmakers point out that during the presidents first term, he declared his support for ending the criminalization of homosexuality worldwide and launched a global effort to do so. Across both Republican and Democratic presidential administrations, the United States has maintained the inherent right of all people to live free from violence and discrimination as a central tenet of its foreign affairs, they write. They also bring up Rubios own words from his time as a Senator, when he slammed the Chechen governments anti-LGBTQ+ abuses and said the United States should use our voice on the global stage to call attention to these horrifying acts and to ensure that they are condemned in an appropriate way.As Secretary of State, you have an obligation [to] ensure the United States does not retreat from these efforts, the letter concludes. In March, both NPR andPoliticoreported on internal documents instructing State Department employees to cut from the report references to gender-based violence, environmental justice, restrictions on political participation, government corruption, sexual violence against children, and violations of the rights of LGBTQ+ and disabled people, among scores of other human rights categories. We werent going to release something compiled and written by the previous administration, State Department spokesperson Tammy Bruce said during a Tuesday press briefing, according to theWashington Blade, adding that the report needed to be changed to fit the view and vision of the current president.Rubio also declined to hold the usual public briefing on the report, a move that drew criticism from Sen. Chris Van Hollen (D-MD), a member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee. When he was a member of the Senate, he used to stand up and support an American foreign policy based on promoting democracy and human rights, Van Hollen told NPR. But ever since he was confirmed, he seems to have forgotten all that. During a conference call with reporters after the report was released, former Biden administration special U.S. envoy for the promotion of LGBTQ+ and intersex rights and co-founder of the Alliance for Diplomacy and Justice, Jessica Stern, said that while she and her colleagues expected the report to be bad, they were shocked and horrified by what the administration released. It is deliberate erasure, she said.Subscribe to theLGBTQ Nation newsletterand be the first to know about the latest headlines shaping LGBTQ+ communities worldwide.0 Comments 0 Shares 0 Views 0 Reviews
