Free agent defensive lineman Janarius Robinson visited with another team as he continues to look for a place to play in 2026. Mary Kay Cabot of Cleveland.com reports that Robinson worked out for the Browns on Monday. Robinson worked out for the Patriots earlier this month as well. Robinson spent last season with the Chiefs and had a sack in the preseason before landing on injured reserve with a foot injury that cost him the entire season. Robinson had had 11 tackles and 1.5 sacks in 16 games for the Raiders in 2023 and 2024. He has also spent time with the Vikings and Eagles.

As recently as two years ago, Tagovailoa led the league in completion percentage. The year before that, he paced the NFL with 4,624 passing yards. In a recent article by Zach Barnett of FootballScoop.com, he pointed out that Rutgers Athletics has missed the postseason in every single sport that his site covers: football, men’s basketball, women’s basketball, softball, baseball, and volleyball, being the only Power Four school to do so last season. The article itself is an overall tough read for Rutgers fans, as it replays the harsh realities of the last athletic year on the field and on the court while bringing up other matters, such as the athletic department’s deficit. However, it does a good job at pointing out the obvious; despite having strong seasons from a few of its lesser talked about programs, the 2025-2026 athletics year was a rough one for Rutgers fans.That now begs the question, will it get better next season, not just in terms of reaching post season, but overall?In terms of football, men’s basketball, and women’s basketball, there is a strong reason to say yes. Football last season was held back by a defense that set records for poor performance under a coordinator who struggled to remain in that position for more than two years wherever he was hired. With the hire of former South Dakota head coach/defensive coordinator Travis Johansen, Rutgers appears to have landed an up-and-coming talent in the coaching world who led the Coyotes to the FCS playoffs, largely due to having a very strong defense. This alone makes it hard to imagine that there won’t be a step forward on that side of the ball. Couple that with Rutgers’ retaining wide receiver KJ Duff and running back Antwan Raymond on the other side of the ball, and bowl eligibility becomes a reasonable expectation, which is an overall improvement from 5-7 last season. In addition to football, both men’s and women’s basketball have had good offseasons so far. Men’s basketball retained the core group of players they wanted to keep around while going out and gaining promising players such as former Virginia Tech center Christian Gurdak, former NEC player of the year Darin Smith Jr, and Coastal Carolin guard Rasheed Jones. While these additions likely won’t lead to an NCAA tournament birth, the performance on the court should be better than it was last season, with their talent getting infused with the continued development of guys like Lino Mark and Kaden Powers. Women’s basketball has arguably had the best offseason of all three, hiring new head coach Gary Redus II, who has brought in several transfers with Power Four experience. These transfers include highly rated New Jersey natives Mia and Mya Pauldo, who spent their first season at Tennessee before deciding to come home. With the extremely poor play on the court last season, the infusion of talent coming through the portal, and the new coaching staff overall, the on-court product should take a step forward this offseason. Making the tournament is another matter entirely, but a step forward is still a step forwardIt is hard to determine where Softball, Baseball, and Volleyball will end up next season with the information we have right now, especially since baseball’s transfer portal hasn’t opened yet. All three should yield some sort of benefit with the increase in support coming from the various efforts of athletic director Keli Zinn, but it is hard to tell right now how much of a difference that will make. Softball finished the season with a .500 record but struggled in Big Ten play. Baseball has taken a step back over the past few years, hovering around .500 and barely making the Big Ten tournament before being eliminated. Volleyball did take a step forward last season, doubling its previous win total, but still went 3-17 in Big Ten play. This is not to say they won’t improve next season, but it is hard to predict with the information we have right now.

I know that we got Houston game one... The only thing that really strikes out to me is the first game. It’s at Houston, a place that I particularly haven’t played very well at, so I gotta do everything in my power to kinda change that narrative there,” he said on the Centered on Buffalo podcast.In four career regular season games against the Texans, Allen has completed just 56.7% of his passes for 716 yards and three touchdowns to three picks.His only career victory over the Texans came in Buffalo in 2021, when the Bills crushed Houston, 40-0.In the 2019 playoff meeting with Houston, Allen threw for 264 yards but didn't score through the air. Despite not passing IndyCar's technical inspection after the Indianapolis 500, Alex Palou and the No. 10 Chip Ganassi Racing Honda were not disqualified from the race. Palou and the car maintained their seventh-place finish in the race, but Palou was penalized five championship points, and the team was fined $10,000.During the post-race technical inspection, IndyCar Officiating found that the No. 10 car's front wing height was not 8.3 inches off the ground, breaking Rule 14.7.6.7.1 in IndyCar's rulebook. IndyCar determined that the car, which passed the pre-race technical inspection, had its wing height altered by an assembly error rather than an intentional modification. Chip Ganassi Racing accepted Palou's five-point penalty and the fine."During technical inspection following Sunday’s Indianapolis 500, a part failure was discovered in the front wing assembly of the No. 10 car," Chip Ganassi Racing said in a statement Sunday night. "The failure caused the wing to fall out of compliance with IndyCar's technical parameters post-race, resulting in a $10,000 fine and a five-point penalty in the championship standings. Chip Ganassi Racing did not attempt to gain an unfair advantage in the race, and accepts this penalty."Palou remains first in IndyCar's championship, holding a 37-point lead over Team Penske's David Malukas, who crossed the bricks 0.0233 seconds after Felix Rosenqvist (whose Meyer Shank Racing team has a technical alliance with CGR). Republicans have been moving quickly to try to leverage a recent U.S. Supreme Court ruling that weakened minority protections under the federal Voting Rights Act. But the GOP suffered a setback Tuesday in Alabama, where a three-judge federal panel issued a preliminary injunction blocking the state from using a Republican-drawn congressional map that could help the GOP win an additional seat. The court said the Republican plan “intentionally discriminated based on race” by including only one Black-majority district and ordered the continued use of a court-imposed map that includes two districts with a significant proportion of Black residents. Alabama Attorney General Steve Marshall, a Republican, vowed a quick appeal to the U.S. Supreme Court and predicted an eventual victory. The “fight for justice is far from over in states across the country where politicians are enacting gerrymanders on top of gerrymanders to erase equal representation for communities of color,” said Marina Jenkins, executive director of the National Redistricting Foundation, a nonprofit affiliate of the National Democratic Redistricting Committee.The national redistricting battle has spanned 10 monthsVoting districts typically are redrawn after a census at the start of a decade. But Trump has urged Republican-led states to redistrict ahead of the November elections to try to rebuff political headwinds, which typically result in lost congressional seats for the president’s party in midterms.Since Trump first urged Texas to redraw its voting districts last summer, Republicans also have enacted new House districts in Missouri, North Carolina, Ohio, Florida and Tennessee. Meanwhile, voters in California adopted new Democratic-drawn districts, and a court imposed a favorable map for Democrats in Utah. Democrats suffered a setback in Virginia, where the state Supreme Court invalidated a voter-approved redistricting plan that could have helped Democrats win additional seats. Redistricting discussions are ongoing in Louisiana following an April high court ruling that struck down a majority-Black congressional district as an illegal partisan gerrymander. The Louisiana House could vote later this week on a new map that could eliminate a seat held by Democratic U.S. Rep. Cleo Fields and improve Republicans’ chances of winning six out of the state’s seven seats. The Congressional Black Caucus on Tuesday called on major corporations across the U.S., including those that previously expressed support for voting rights and racial justice, to oppose redistricting efforts by Republican-led states that seek to eliminate majority-Black U.S. House districts. That comes after the caucus last week called for Black athletes to boycott public universities in states that are gerrymandering congressional maps to eliminate districts held by Black lawmakers. Clyburn decries White House role in redistrictingMore than 26,000 votes were cast in South Carolina by noon Tuesday on the first day of early voting for the June 9 primary after Democrats called for people against a proposed new map to turn out in force. In 2022, about 125,000 early votes were cast the entire two weeks.The Republican-led House already has passed a plan that would reconfigure Clyburn’s district, void the results of current congressional primaries and instead hold new U.S. House primaries in August. Trump has lobbied for the plan, making at least two phone calls to Republican state Senate Majority Leader Shane Massey and also phoning in to a private meeting of Republican senators earlier this month. He also has maintained the pressure on social media.Debate has stalled in the Senate, where Democrats are staunchly opposed and some GOP lawmakers have concerns that an aggressive redistricting could backfire by making some Republican-held seats susceptible to losses because of the addition of Democratic voters. Clyburn noted that when state lawmakers last redrew congressional districts, after the 2020 census, they spent months holding meetings across the state to gather public suggestions. Although that map resulted in a 6-1 seat advantage for Republicans over Democrats, the process was orderly and fair, he said. “When the map was challenged, the U.S. Supreme Court said, yes, this is constitutional,” Clyburn said. NEW DELHI: Suryakumar Yadav is likely to play for Triumph Knights Mumbai North East in a T20 match against the Uganda's touring side on May 30 in Mumbai.Uganda are currently touring Mumbai for four one-day matches and four T20 games. Uganda swept the four-match One Day series against MCA Colts XI 4-0.The T20 matches are being played against four separate teams from the T20 Mumbai League, which begins on June 1."He is a part of the team so he is likely to play," MCA secretary Unmesh Khanvilkar told reporters, as quoted by news agency PTI."He is the Indian captain and whenever he plays against any team, it is a morale-booster for any team and it is going to be a good cricket experience," Khanvilkar added.The match between Triumph Knights Mumbai North East and Uganda is expected to be held at the MCA Ground in Bandra Kurla Complex.Suryakumar was considered one of the standout players from the first edition of the T20 Mumbai League in 2018. The Browns announced a change to their cornerback group on Tuesday. They have signed Tyron Herring to their 90-man roster. DeCarlos Nicholson was waived with an injury designation in a corresponding move. Herring went undrafted out of Delaware last year. He signed with the Packers and failed to make the cut to 53 players in Green Bay. He spent time on their practice squad and on the Patriots' practice squad over the course of the season. Nicholson signed with the Browns after going undrafted out of USC this year. The Browns signed two other undrafted rookie cornerbacks to compete for spots behind Denzel Ward and Tyson Campbell this season.

The annual spring game did little to inspire confidence from Michigan football fans in second-year quarterback Bryce Underwood, despite all of the talk from Kyle Whittingham noting he's making marked improvements. While there has been some experience in Ann Arbor of not seeing signal callers reaching their full potential, it's more of a theme beyond just the maize and blue.And that's precisely where ESPN also has concerns.The worldwide leader took all of the quarterbacks in college football and put them into tiers. As for Underwood, he fell in line with two other second-year quarterbacks, who each also showed promise as starters in their freshman campaigns, but are in danger of perhaps not developing beyond their opening foray. There was a coaching change and too many turnovers and, while he did ultimately get drafted in the second round due almost entirely to his measurables, his NFL career amounted to just a few snaps in the preseason.The point is, true freshmen putting up impressive seasons is a rarity and it often portends greatness. But not always. Witness the DJ Lagway roller coaster from 2024 to 2025 as another prime example.And so Tier 5: Three highly regarded QBs who looked, at times, like elite players as true freshmen in 2025 but whose miscues left at least a little room for concern over their future development.At least one -- and maybe all three -- of these QBs will be a first-round draft pick in 2028. But, it's also possible there's a Hackenberg in here, too.Did you know?Just 16.6% of Underwood's throws last year came vs. man coverage, the lowest rate among Power 4 QBs.Underwood was off target on 20% of his throws beyond the line of scrimmage last year, the fourth-worst rate among returning quarterbacks.Given that Underwood is in the same category as Bachmeier and Sagopolutele indicates less that it's the obvious trajectory rather than he's got some ways to go to become a Trevor Lawrence or Vince Young type -- which is, oddly enough, reasonable given his traits and recruiting ranking of being the former No. 1 overall. But much of the discourse this offseason has seemingly eschewed the idea that Underwood is still young and in development. Even if he didn't progress much in his first year, with a new staff this time around (unlike Hackenberg moving from Bill O'Brien to James Franklin), he has coaches who should be more capable at putting and keeping him on the right track.But until he starts to showcase more of his skills in a consistent fashion, there will be concerns about who and what he can be at the college level. As noted, he does have elite traits, and that's likely enough to get him into the NFL, no matter how his college career goes. The Salisbury University Baseball team is headed back to the NCAA Division III College World Series this weekend after winning its Super Regional games.After winning the C2C Championship over Mary Washington, and the NCAA Regionals over Bridgewater State and Hobart, the Salisbury Sea Gulls hosted the University of Chicago in the Super Regionals over the weekend in a best-of-three series. But it didn't take three games, as they won games 1 and 2 in a doubleheader.Salisbury won Game 1 of the series 5-3, with ace pitcher and Parkside High School grad Aidan Brinsfield picking up the win. Brinsfield pitched 6 innings, striking out three. At the plate, Jackson Inman finished with 2 RBIs, including a solo home run in the first inning.NATIVE SON: Former Parkside pitcher Brinsfield stars on the mound for Salisbury University BaseballThe Sea Gulls won the second game 7-4, with Jack Rucker pitching 5 innings and only allowing two runs, while Inman and Trent Ware combined for 5 RBIs on the day.Their appearance in this year's Division III College World Series is the ninth in program history, and their first since 2023. Buccaneers running back Bucky Irving was limited to 10 games last season due to injury.He’s on the mend after undergoing offseason shoulder surgery, but is not yet participating as Tampa Bay gets its OTA practices started this week.According to multiple reporters on the scene, Irving got on the field midway through the day’s session and worked on the side with trainers and running backs coach Skip Peete.“[H]e’s coming along fine,” Bucs head coach Todd Bowles said after the session, via PewterReport.com. “We expect him sometime back in the summer or fall, and we’ll look forward to him when he gets back.”That Bowles would mention the fall when discussing Irving’s return is a bit of an eyebrow raiser. But it is still late May, giving Irving months to recover before Tampa Bay’s Week 1 matchup against the Bengals.Irving rushed for 588 yards with one touchdown and caught 30 passes for 277 yards with three TDs last season. As a rookie in 2024, he rushed for 1,122 yards with eight touchdowns and caught 47 passes for 392 yards.

Craig Kimbrel is back in the majors after reportedly agreeing to a deal to join the Tampa Bay Rays, according to The Athletic’s Ken Rosenthal.The soon-to-be 38-year-old reliever started the season with the New York Mets, but was designated for assignment last week. Kimbrel made 14 appearances for New York, recording 15 strikeouts in 15 innings pitched, while posting a 6.00 ERA and 1.47 WHIP.
